Server was friendly but not so good at his job. Food was meh but slow and the order was wrong. Took one hour to get our food and it was busy when we came in but half empty by the time we ate. We were charged too much for poutine and they forgot an order of sweet potato fries. When it came, we noticed a large discrepancy between the quality of the two orders as shown in the photo. Honestly, we won’t go back.

Had a pound of wings and a side salad that was fantastic. Homemade Italian dressing was outstanding. Wings were crispy and cooked perfect.

Waited nearly a half hour to get a drink order, meal took well over an hour to come out. My wings came out 10 mins after everyone else’s and then were raw! Server never came back to check on us and when she finally came to clear plates said she would take them off the bill. Well that’s great but I haven’t eaten? Not sure her name but should not be doing this, when we did order they only had about half of what was on the menu. She just said nope when we tried to order items that they were out of. Worst service ever! Server was doing shots with another table while we sat waiting with my raw wings sitting at the end of the table. Second time trying this restaurant and got worse! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE.

We were there mid week, and when we arrived there were 3-4 tables occupied so the restaurant was no where near capacity. We ordered and waited 90 minutes for our food and kept being told we would be next. When the food finally arrived it was horrible, soggy fries, beef tip was so salty you could not eat it and the burger patty was tiny and the Cesar Salad was made from bitter Romain Hearts. Waitresses were trying but clearly there was a problem in the kitchen.

The place was empty and yet the food took 1 hour to arrive. The service was genuinely bad and the food was very below average. Each part of the food looked and tasted like it was defrosted from the freezer 10 minutes before it came out. The drinks were watered down and horrible.

The NEW Sauble Dunes exceeded our expectations. We've been coming to The Dunes for many years, and haven't always been satisfied, but this time, it really feels like the new owners have turned things around. We sat at the bar, like we always do, and ordered wing and the Banquet Burger based on the bartender's recommendation. Very glad we did. The burger was one of the best I've had in recent years. Service was good, considering it was quite busy. Atmosphere was also great. Nice to see the Dunes busy again, and nice to see people having fun in the off months. There's still lots of life in our little town, even when it's snowing, and The Dunes is really bringing people together.

Under-rated. Food is excellent, food mostly home made, great smoked meats. Pet friendly on lower patio. Beer cold and a good price, friendly service

Booked a reservation for a Bachlorette party. We arrived and were seating directly infront of the karaoke stage. Waitress dropped off water, but it wasn’t enough for everyone to have a glass and we waited over half an hour to order drinks and at that time we ordered food too. Another half hour to receive the drinks and only then did we get more water. We then waited over 2 more hours for our food. During that 2 hours we were told 5 more minutes, it was being plated multiple times. We also ordered appetizers that didn’t arrive until our food did. We weren’t checked on other to tell us the food was coming, no more water and no more drinks. By the time we got our food we decided to get take out.. we finally got to eat around 10pm (630 reservation) and the food was under par. I had a hair cooked into my steak and it was extremely chewy. Drinks were watered down. Karaoke looked like a good time but would recommend going for that if you have already ate/drank elsewhere.

The new owners have really given top notch service, I can’t wait for them to reopen and to be able to go for the line dancing on Thursdays! It’s great to have a nice pub in town !

Update Returned last night for live music. So glad we made reservations, had a fabulous table close to the stage. Band was fantastic !! Staff as always were friendly and fast. Place was packed atmosphere was perfect . You would have never known there was a winter storm outside . serving size of nachos was perfect to serve 4 + . Wings and poutine also need to be honourably mentioned “yummy “ only disappointment was no batter mushrooms ( sad ) We will definitely be returning. The Dunes is a must visit place when visiting Sauble Beach ! This the first time here for us. We sat on the patio in the warm September sun very nice large patio real beach feel to it. It was mid afternoon so we had a couple beers and a couple apps. The beer on tap was ice cold and in a glass not a plastic cup awesome. The battered mushrooms were deliciously crispy outside and tasty mushroomy inside. Also had the butter milk chicken nibs, very nice, the butter milk batter was very nice and crispy the chicken you could tell was hand cut and very fresh. Awesome, awesome! The wait staff very, very friendly.

The new owners have really done an amazing job of turning this little Sauble Landmark bar/restaurant into a place where everyone will want to be. It is clean, the service is attentive and quick, the food is absolutely spectacular (try the banquet burger!)and if you just want a beverage, there is plenty of space to sit at the bar and enjoy a nice cold Beer! Great selections of both food and drinks and it’s also family friendly. Open year round with Line Dancing, Live Bands, Karaoke and good old fashioned Sunday Dinners! Do yourself a favour and make a point of stopping in and stop in and enjoy everything The Dunes has to offer!

New owners and it shows. Finally we have a good restaurant in sauble to go and enjoy some delicious food. Reasonable prices and great atmosphere. You won’t be disappointed.

As locals we are so happy to have a great casual dining option like The Dunes. We were impressed with what the new owners have done with the place. It is clean and the menu is full of wholesome and delicious options. The ribs and burger were great and we highly recommend the hot cheese dip! We are looking forward to coming back for some live music and line dancing soon!

A rather large group of ladies from Presqui'ile area participated in your Line Dancing evening with Rhonda Laws and her dance team. Thanks to staff at Dunes and Rhonda for making our experience such a positive one. Our waitress Hailey along with other Dunes staff were very pleasant, accommodating and professional. Food got positive reviews by all. Well explained dance routines throughout our evening with Rhonda added to our entertainment. Nothing but smiles left your restaurant! Thanks again.

The new management has done a fantastic job of overhauling the menu and atmosphere. The food was amazing. We had the steak special and devilled eggs, and both were delicious. It's the first time I've had devilled eggs at a restaurant, and they are not to be missed. Live music with Brian Bennett was a lot of fun.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner, I had the yummy soup of the day and a house salad and my husband had the Chicken Parm & spaghetti and we both found them very good! The band was excellent and we had a great night! We did find it very crowded though and the tables were very tight together and the waitresses seemed to be having a hard time getting in and out to deliver their orders. Also, not really enough room for anyone to dance if they were so inclined!

The prices were a bit higher than usual, but considering their location, it's totally understandable. The waiting line was quite long, so it's better to arrive early to avoid a wait. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was amazing. I would definitely recommend it if you want to watch the sunset.

Everything about this place is amazing. Service, food, drinks and view. Been here a handful of times now and it’s very consistent and never disappoints! Highly recommended.

I love Sola’s. I went tonight for the first time of the season and it was amazing. Our waitress Jocelyn was fantastic, the vibes were amazing and she was fantastic. The food was delicious, I love good seasoned French Fry’s and they did not disappoint! The drink menu is also so fun and so many yummy drinks, perfect sunset dinner!!

My son and I had a fun experience at Sola’s on Sunday. It was a packed house but we were able to get a spot at the Tiki Bar, which was a perfect spot to watch the beach activities. Carter is an amazing server! I have been working in hospitality in Niagara for 30 years and it’s refreshing to see such passion for excellent service. He was friendly, attentive, informative and efficient. Sola’s is lucky to have such dedicated employees. And the food was delicious!! I had the burger and my son had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. I highly recommend! We can’t wait to come back to try the Chicken and Waffles!!

I was visiting with few friends from Toronto for a beautiful beach day. Must say “Horrible experience” server gave us waters saying “ I would typically not drink this water”, water literally smelt and tasted like sewage. When went to the manager and spoke about our concern, he said “ nobody ever drinks water here cause it’s bad. That is definitely not a professional way of handling a guests concern.We also had to pay for the water bottles that were dropped instead after complaining about the tap water. Besides the nachos weren’t the greatest. When told to server that we were unhappy with the nachos she literally said “ I am sorry there’s nothing we can do about that but we’ll give you a guacomole dip without anyone getting to know” again not a professional way of guest recovery. I work as a service manager in one of the popular restaurants in Toronto and we would’ve never handled this situation in such a way. Great ambience with live music, but definitely needs improvement on service and management aspect.

They make a lot happen with their waffle iron and sauces. Most of their dishes revolve around their made-from-scratch waffles and vacillate between sweet & savoury. I did their waffles benny and it was quite tasty - though it comes ungarnished. Coffee was served in paper cups, and there was a lot of ice in their orange juice - so if that’s a thing for you, keep that in mind. They have a very nice patio right by the beach and there was no wait to get in, so that’s a plus.

I was wavering between a 3 or 4 🌟because my meal was tasty with pricey drinks. My partner was caught between a 2 or 3 🌟 because his pizza was lacking sauce, but service was good. We compromised and settled on 3 for this review. The atmosphere is nice though the inside feels a bit dingy compared to the scenic ocean view inside. The location is convenient and close to the main strip and beach. The food was decent and the drinks (although quite expensive) were very very yummy. However, I'm very confused to read a comment from the owner that they don't take reservations. I came here with my partner this past Monday, saw an open 4 seater table out on the patio, but we were told there was only bar seating or indoor available. I figured that the empty outdoor table was reserved. We were seated inside (at another 4 seater) and enjoyed our meal. But we very much would have preferred the table outside, as inside there were 2 large groups of 8+ people with noisy kids. If there are no reservations, why were we seated at a table of equal size inside while the outdoor table was given to another small group who arrived after us? It doesn't seem fair, and it certainly is something the owner should be looking into if it's happening to multiple guests. 2 🌟. Edit: As stated in my review, we were offered a seat inside or at the bar. There was NO ONE waiting at the bar when the table was empty outside, but we were seated inside. So really, since no one was waiting at the bar, we should have been the front of the line, so to speak, and should have been given that table. The owners response cleared up nothing.

This place has a very diversified menu!! You can have pizza, pasta, burger, seafood, etc. We didn't wait much before being seated, but we had to sit inside since the patio was full. The waitress brought us water which tasted like lemon water, but the glasses didn't feel very clean, they had a very weird smell. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! We ordered the veggie pizza with ham (a must-have, their pizzas are the bomb), the coconut shrimps with the sweet and sour sauce (incredible) and the onion rings. Everything was amazing, it came hot and the ingredients felt fresh. The service was quick, we waited around 20 minutes to get our food, but the place was PACKED as well as them having clients waiting for take-out. The bathrooms weren't very clean and smelled weird. All and all, this place has incredible food and gives you a beautiful view of Sauble Beach!

This is a lovely local restaurant by the beach, with a wonderful view of Lake Huron, at Sauble Beach. They have a fairly good menu with plenty of variety and the pricing is reasonable. There was also really nice live music. Seems to be a Sauble Beach favourite. The view of the shoreline is breathtaking at sunset.

Wow! This is some top quality take out food. Thank you for opening during these hard times. Ive ordered the cheeseburger w/ poutine, fish and chips, and Greek salad. All tasted absolutely amazing and the freshness is unbelievable. Their French fries are also something I've never quite had before, they're consistently crunchy and good. Everything else tasted just like how it should, not in a microwave, fresh, and bursting with flavor. Staff are very proffesional and nice. Will definitely continue to order. Prices are quite steep though for my liking but the food shows and tastes for quality.

Went to sauble beach today.. I found the Channing restaurant by googling Chinese restaurants. It was located right at the beach front where all the other restaurants are. It had a side window to order take out we couldn't eat on the patio unless you were ordering alcohol , which i was very disappointed especially after spending $40plus. We had to eat in the car instead of being able to eat properly and watch the sunset. Travelled three hours to visit this area. The food was ok not great and not bad. It was very basic. The fried rice had the taste but was just plain no veggies no nothing just rice with soy sauce. The chow mein mostly bean sprouts with a few slivers of carrots, chicken balls as usual.. Plain with just the sweet sauce, seasme chicken plain with little Sweetness and seeds. I would suggest the restaurant to add a little more ingredients to better the food and price quality. I would recommend this restaurant if your looking for Chinese food and ok with just basic food and not looking for nothing more.

My favorite Chinese food during the summer visiting our family in Olyphant. We always go back to Channings because the food is clean, flavours are consistent and the price is right . We usually find a bench by the beach to eat or go back to our cottage. I recommend this place.

They just re-opened for the season (May 19,2018) and we had to have it! Was delicious as always! Hot, fresh, not over oily or over seasoned. Not too much batter on the chicken balls. And the sweet and sour sauce was not sickly sweet, it was perfect. Yum!

As a local, I always recommend Channings to visitors of Sauble Beach! My family and I always anticipate its opening in the summer, it is by far the best Chinese food I have had. Super fresh, flavourful, and the owner Toni is a great guy. If you don't want take out, you can still enjoy it on the patio of the caesar bar, win-win :)

Bad experience today, the sesame chicken combo was terrible, the chicken was dry and only 4 small pieces of chicken. My veggie combo was not appealing and the mushrooms looked horrible. Complained to the owner and he didn't seem to care. He said it's cooked in Owen Sound and brought out to the beach so obviously it's reheated. We will patronize China 8 in Port Elgin as their food is fresh and delicious!

My absolute fav Chinese food, at my favorite beach. Take out window or grab a seat and cocktail at 1858 and ask for Tony! They'll bring it right to your table.

I craved for Asian food while I was visiting Sauble Beach. I came across this restaurant from searching on Google. I ordered from this restaurant two times and in both occasions, the food was extremely salty. I thought my husband was exaggerating when he said the beef and broccoli stir fry was salty but nope, he was right. Next day, I ordered beef and mushroom and wanton soup because hey why not give them another chance. The food again was salty. Could not finish both of them even though I was hungry. Friendly crew but way too salty food!!!

We always have Channings when we visit Sauble a beach, and it’s always amazing. Personally the spring rolls are my favourite!

At their last night, we ordered the banquet burger, the one piece fish and the hot beef. The banquet burger was very good. The toppings had lots of flavor, but it did not come with fries. The one piece fish was very dough and it was freezer burnt it could’ve been warmer, but you had to pick a park the fish to get the good stuff inside. The hot beef looked good. It used to be reasonably placed good food And great service I believe under the new ownership it has gone downhill. There used to be music playing in the restaurant area, but they only had their stereo in the kitchen for the staff. we have tried it a few times under new ownership to see if it improve and give it another chance, but obviously they have a few more kings to work out like staffing, and the time it takes to make the food. It’s nice to support local, but when the prices go up and the quality goes down, people are gonna go farther way for better food.

This was awful, we were a table of three. The restaurant is very hot. No a/c. We saw it was busy. It’s only about ten- twelve tables and need some real TLC. We waited to be seated, and then didn’t get menus, they didn’t have a few drinks that were on the menu. The waitress advised us not to drink the water. After waiting another 15 min she came back to take our order, but then promptly left to go get another table food. While serving that table their food She also announced how this is the cheapest restaurant in Sauble beach. She then takes a few more trips in and out of the kitchen for again another table. Returns back to us, where the table next to us excused himself, but asked about menus. The waitress leaves us and gets them one menu to share. As she stated earlier they don’t have more then ten menus in the place. That table didn’t order and left. The waitress gave a comments of “well, I can only do so much.” She then proceeded to take our order. We sat and watched as the rest of service took place. After about 30 min the server then came back to us and said “ I did take your order, right?” ( it was in that moment, we knew we “messed” up) I don’t need to go into more details as they don’t get any better. My guest and I decided this wasn’t the experience or place for us to spend our time, or money for that matter. Would not recommend,

Small, very popular, and for good reason. The Fish and Chips are a mainstay but their breakfasts are terrific. A true short order diner with beautiful paintings on the wall - for sale, too! Try to pick a time when they’re not so busy if you aren’t the patient sort.

Really tasty authentic fish and chips!! Removed me of UK! Service was little slow due to being busy, but polite and friendly! Great portions and price! Will def be going again after a long beach day.

It's new owners this year and the quality of the food is not as good. We used to order take out quite often but since they changed hands its not the same. I was disappointed with fish on a bun, and the cornbeef on rye was horrible I felt like the mustard bottle must be exploded on my sandwich it was covered in mustard. I was going to return it by the restaurant was closed when I went back. I haven't ordered anything since.

Great service generous portions I would recommend! I saw another review for the fish and chips and that made me hesitant to get it but I'm glad that I did cuz it's tastes great!

Great little local place with really good quality food and coffee. I would recommend people looking to have a cheap but good breakfast here. Advice to management - improve the outside looks of the store as it looks very unattractive and shabby which is totally not the case one you go inside.

I always like to give the benefit of the doubt to small businesses and restaurants- especially during these tough economic times. I have to say though, the breakfast here was inedible. All five of our guests were grossed out by the experience and 3/5 of us left everything on our plates. I ordered the peameal bacon and the colour was off- it was dark, had small pores (it looked mechanically processed and freezer burned) and it was tough and had a questionable consistency. We had to ask for cutlery multiple times, waiting over ten minutes to receive it only for it to be caked with food due to improper washing. One of our guests had what looked like a piece of tephlon in their eggs. The dishware was not washed properly. The water tasted like old pipes and chemicals. The restaurant itself smelled like urine. One of our guests brought our experience to the attention of the owner at the end of our meal (since they were understaffed and hard to track down) and her rectification was to offer a free butter tart. Please exercise caution when choosing to dine here. Edit* the new owner (restaurant under new management) is very non-receptive to constructive feedback. After reading some of the most recent reviews this confirms that.

Worst breakfast ever, hair in my food. No hashbrowns, eggs had black stuff on them, ketchup was bad, we complained and it was still 50.00. This place use to be topnotch! Will not return.. so sad

I love that it's got a family owned vibe. The space is a little tight and a little slow paced. Made an order a couple of times, and they said ok for the order, but they were out of things and didn't mention it to us. The food was decent. Burgers get thumbs up. Pancakes taste like they're pre-cooked, thawed pancakes. Thumbs down.

Affordable and tasty food. Friendly staff. I do believe another staff is needed as it’s a lot for one person. We fortunately went when the restaurant wasn’t very crowded but it can get a crowd quickly.

Not a good experience. Stay away from this restaurant. Since this is the only place in the little town that serves pizza we decided to give it a try. The place was closed for dine in. So we ordered on the window and took away pizzas and started eating outside. We had couple of soft drinks in the car, so we thought of having them along with our food (haven’t even opened them). This owner had the audacity to came straight from the kitchen and very rudely started hurling abuses. Of course he doesn’t have any manners and etiquettes, leave customer service aside, thats asking for too much. We totally regret giving him a business of $60 and tipping in advance. Taking about the pizza, it was too hard and looked like its made from stale dough. All in all, save your stomach and money, give your business to other customer friendly restaurants.

Great bistro with many options to get the family. Very good experience for a first time visit. The service was excellent and the food was for most part really good, the only issue I had my pizza was slightly under cooked but the flavor was still there. We will definitely return again when we come back to Sauble beach.

I’ve tried a few pizza places in Sauble and this is by far my favourite! The pizza is delicious! The staff were friendly and the food came quickly. My dog was allowed on the patio which I always appreciate! Looking forward to visiting again this summer.

One of the best Pizza places we have been to. Great menu options, awesome service and food! We had two different pizzas and pastas and all of the them very well made and delicious. I’d recommend the place to anyone looking for some great food around Tobermory. I’d definitely return to this place in the future.

Very good pizza. The cheese and the sauce is very good quality. The staff are always very friendly. The crust of the pizza is a little on the hard chewy side but one of the best pizzas around.
