At Cafe Mono Congo, you'll find a relaxed atmosphere that perfectly blends with the backpacker vibe of Dominical. They offer free Wi-Fi and charging points to make staying connected easy. The cafe is located next to the Baru River, adding to its charm.
Gluten-free and vegan meals as well as options available! Everything we tried was so delicious. They serve breakfast and delicious coffee then they serve a scrumptious lunch. You can find some of their products and good like the coffee and frozen or fresh meals to go from Mama Toucan's. You must check this place out and try some of their amazing offerings. We even enjoyed their smoothies and desserts! The price is reasonable for the serving size you are given. We returned for several meals and will return again.

A great spot to grab breakfast as it's one of few places to open as early as 8 am. The meals were delicious and had a diverse selection of food. The prices are fair and reflect the quality of food. The portions are big enough to be satisfied. There are many options for gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian. The atmosphere of the cafe gave surfer vibes and a beautiful view of the river. Great place to eat in Dominical.

GREAT BREAKFAST option! Went right as they opened and there was already a line. Wait time around 15 minutes. Staff were nice and friendly, spoke English. Food was great and filling! Noticed that the menu in-person does have some differences from the online ones, but overall good variety. We saw some iguanas while we were enjoying our breakfast and it was quite entertaining! Free water available. Good family-friendly environment. Highly recommend the burritos!!
Daney — Google review
Tasty smoothies, chicken burrito and bowl. Staff was not so friendly, they told us we had to order before we could sit down, and 1 minute later a table of 6 walks right by us and is shown to a table without ordering. We asked for the bowl with vegan option(without egg and cheese) and they got our order wrong and didn't correct it when I mentioned it. Food was still pretty good though.
B HC — Google review
We had only coffee and were a little bit disappointed. The espresso was without foam and latte was not good (too strong and large). Their chocolate papaya cake was good on the other side and breakfast offerings were large and looked nice and big. Visited around 10am and the place was pretty busy.
David Gabriel — Google review
Leisurely service, delicious food (jalapeno cheddar scramble with tasty chicken sausage), and a great iced mocha. My friend had the coconut French toast and was raving about how yummy it was. She also enjoyed her mocha coffee drink (hot).

Spent three days in Dominical and came here each day. It’s very central. Had Chicken Pita for lunch on the first day and it was pretty good. The coconut French toast for breakfast was delicious 🤤 and the passionfruit pie for dessert was by far my favourite. The staff are super friendly, and the view of the river is really peaceful. The Wi-Fi connection is excellent . It’s a great place for doing some work in a nice location while having a good coffee.
Jessica Watters — Google review
Spent over 2 weeks in Dominical with our family and I can't remember how many times we enjoyed Mono Congo. Best coffee! Highly recommend the Americano con leche. Food was also good. Vibe great. My favorite was their blackberry smoothie bowl. Hope they have the avocado smoothie bowl available the next time we are there. You can't go wrong here! I promise.
Ginger Calem — Google review
Solid breakfast spot with good coffee, juices and a bomb hot sauce. We stopped here twice for breakfast during our stay. The tumeric ginger juice was phenomenal and the coffee was equally delicious. The breakfast burrito was good, although a little heavy on potatoes. Their hot sauce though is really where it's at. A perfect mixture of spicy and flavor to go with whatever dish you ordered. The service was great from counter to table. Parking is a little tricky but we still figured it out. Plenty of seating too.
Tevis Pieper — Google review
Riverside breakfast and coffee. I had the gringo burrito and I was not sorry. I have never eaten chicken sausage before. The restaurant has an extremely relaxed vibe and the staff was very accommodating. I would imagine that I would spend a lot of time at this place if I lived in Dominical. Great place to get some work done while enjoying fantastic coffee.
Jon Hickey — Google review
Great menu including vegetarian options. Enjoyed a variety of dishes in a chill location. Quiet and enjoyable!
Rebecca Campbell — Google review
Delicious Coconut French toast with a lovely cup of coffee. Very friendly staff!
Fanni Sári — Google review
It’s a very good priced restaurant on the beach. It was very busy and it took us a second to find seats, but that wasn’t the restraints fault. My family liked the food much more than I did, but they had great options regardless. We were served quickly and I enjoyed my experience.
Marko Ullah — Google review
Nice café with good vibes next to the river in Dominical. They have a lot of interesting things on the menu and the coffee is good. I had the chicken Panini sandwich and it did not have a lot of flavor. Hopefully other things are better on the menu.
Dan Buettner — Google review
Decent lunch food that tasted super fresh and was well presented. Location was also really nice along the bank of the Baru River. A friendly iguana 🦎 also came by to say hello.

Asian fusion restaurant
Thai restaurant
Phat Noodle is a popular asian fusion restaurant located in Dominical. They serve up a variety of Thai cuisine as well as other Asian dishes. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, perfect for lunch after exploring the beach town.
Yum! I had a wonderful experience at Phat Noodle. The pad thai was amazing! I’m vegetarian and sometimes without the fish sauce Thai food is dry and bland. This was up there with the best pad Thai I’ve ever had. Perfectly saucy and delicious :P The servers were so kind and attentive as well, thoughtfully offering to seat me near the fan as I walked in feeling very hot. Highly recommend you stop here during your trip in Dominical :)
Lillian Sultan — Google review
Food was probably good only if we could’ve eaten it. We order spicy food the waiter did not warn us or told us how spicy this was going to be. They literally pour the entire hot sauce into our food. We couldn’t eat much of it. This type of sauce shouldn’t be added as the only source of flavor to our food. It should be ilegal to sell this to customers. Seriously!
C P — Google review
Happened to walk past this place after a yoga session in town. The vibes were awesome, and they were playing great music. This truck on the side where the cooks are is a super cool idea. The green curry was really watery and just like a soup, so we scooped each bite from the bowl. Great flavor, but I needed more rice to scoop up all the liquid. Pad Thai was awesome and also full of flavor. 3-star spiciness was not bad at all, and I think we could have handled 4 pretty easily. Overall, it was a wonderful thai food spot, but you do pay a pretty penny for it. Dishes were an average of 7000 colones and not the largest portions.
samuel dean — Google review
The entire dining experience was superb. From our greeter at the entrance, to the energy of the establishment, to the quality of the food and beverages. I would highly recommend everything I had (the spicy pineapple margarita, the house margarita, the massaman curry with chicken, as well as the chicken pad Thai — which I got to go to eat in bed in my Airbnb with my girlfriend while watching Ozark in bed 😌). But what was most memorable was the incredible staff! The servers and bartenders were extraordinary. Very attentive, professional, and they checked in with us with great cadence. 5/5. 10/10. Would highly recommend!
Emmanuel Tafari Horsford — Google review
Best food in town, there drinks are wonderful too and the prices aren't steep compared to some other newer restaurants in town. We came here a few times and were never disappointed, the service is stupendous, friendly, and quick even when they're busy. They have different Asian dishes to choose from, from the typical Pad Thai, to different bowls as well, so there's different things to choose from. I only wish we had a few more days here so I could've tried more of their menu.
Rachel Perez — Google review
Awesome place with amazing food that is a break from the norm. Lots of Asian fusion dishes on offer and all are delicious in their own way. We loved the green beans tempura as much as the green curry and raw papaya salad. Great selection of drinks to go with the food. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Sins Of Wanderlust — Google review
Despite the fact we got there half an hour before they closed, the staff took our order and made it through. We really enjoy their service and patience. Food was outstanding, a bit spicy but generous. In general, we recommend their food, teriyaki egg noodles were also fantastic but a bit sweet.
Steve Espinoza — Google review
My boyfriend and I had the most amazing dinner here! The food was the best meal we’ve had in Dominical. I had the tofu Pad Thai and he had the chicken Massaman Curry. Both were to die for! Excellent portions, ambiance, and service. Even on a very busy weeknight, the staff were so kind and attentive. Can’t wait to eat here again!
Angela Vaughan — Google review
We went based on a suggestion from others in town and it did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and it was a cool food truck experience. I wish I took more photos of the food but it was so good we ate it all so quickly. We were there with individuals that eat vegan and they had no trouble ordering as the menu was clearly labeled. I got the green curry which I would definitely suggest to others and a spicy pineapple margarita. The picture was an appetizer we got of fried green bean tempura.
shannon davis — Google review
The food was not as good as I was expecting, but the service and location was great. The food was okay, but not amazing Thai food and the cheesecake dessert was dry.
Devin Ramdutt — Google review
Great dinner location and vibe! Recommend making a reservation if you don’t go early. Drinks were great as well.
Colton Junod — Google review
The food is delicious, we’ve been here about 5 times. The only reason this is a 4-star is because the operation can use a little work. We were waiting for our food for an hour after we put our order in, which is simply unacceptable. There were 4 people running an entire kitchen but the seating and occupancy of the restaurant is far greater than what the kitchen can comfortably serve. So please be warned if you’re going during a busy period, but I will say very honestly that the food is delicious. It’s the best Asian flavors I’ve had in Costa Rica hands down.
Elijah Johnston — Google review
The nicest service we’ve experienced this trip. And we have met a whole lot of nice people! Just so you know ;) Thank you 🙏🏼
Stephanie Boxtaele — Google review
I really enjoyed our meal and time at Phat Noodle. Cocktails were on point and food was delicious! We arrived on a weekday shortly after they opened at 5:00 and did not have to wait hardly at all for our food and drinks. The waiters were friendly and spoke English very well, which was helpful since I only know a little Spanish. I was also happy with the price since the drinks we got were buy one get one free!
Lisa Still — Google review
Friendly staff with delicious food and drinks! The sandwiches, ceviche and Asian cuisine are to die for (for an affordable price). Happy hour from 12 to 6pm came through. The best bang for your buck in Dominical!
Colton Incze — Google review
Very bland tasting food. We have had the best Thai and the worst one. This is probably the latter! We all went there with so much enthusiasm as we had heard so many good things about this place. But no one in our party of 5 could give this place 5/5 stars. My pad Thai was bland no taste. I could only taste noodles like paper. My hibiscus lemonade was watered down not sweet! Everyone else in my party left there food as well. We all lost our appetite after eating a few bites of their preparation. Very slow service. We spent $90(all went to a waste) they need to change their sauces and make them a bit thick so they stick to the food! Redo your recipe guys! Up your game a bit. After trying their food we are scared to try any new place to eat in Costa Rica!

Restaurant
El Pescado Loco is a popular casual eatery located near the beach that both locals and tourists enjoy. Their menu offers a variety of seafood options, along with burgers, sandwiches, and salads. If you're craving tacos in Dominical, this restaurant is worth a visit as they have delicious choices with fish and shrimp. Additionally, it's reasonably priced according to Costa Rican standards.
👍I wish we had found El Pescado Loco at the beginning of our trip!!!👍 If you are in Dominical, you will most likely find yourself in front of El Pescado Loco, because of it's convenient location. It is next to the shops at the Cafe Mono Congo, which is how we ended up there. The food was so good!! I have to stress the high quality of the food! It was like having a meal in a nice North American pub, but with freshly caught fish! All of the food was so fresh. My husband also enjoyed the selection of local beers. The Canadian owners were so friendly and welcoming. This was our first time in this region, and they were happy to answer our questions. El Pescado Loco turned out to be the best and most memorable meal(s) we've had in Costa Rica. Ever. I would highly recommend!!

Nice little spot in Dominical! We stopped by for dinner and tried the guacamole and chips, beer battered onion rings, and fish and chips. The service was friendly and pretty quick. The guacamole and house made chips were really good - I would recommend trying and would order again! Our onion rings looked pretty good when they came out but tasted very burnt, which was a bummer, as we try those everywhere that offers them and had high hopes here. The fish and chips were decent, but based on other reviews, the fish tacos might have been a better way to go. The space is casual, comfortable, and a cool beach vibe.

Best Tacos in Dominical, check this place out ! Stayed in Costa Rica for 10 days and ate at this place at least once a day, always hit the spot for me, as an avid taco lover, I 100% recommend stopping in !

Unreal tacos and guac! We always stop multiple times while in Costa Rica - perfect meal for after a long day of surfing. Love this place so much!
McKenzie Lautt — Google review
Came here for lunch in Dominical and was very impressed. We got Fish and Chips, a Shrimp Taco, and a Fish Taco. All were very excellent and flavorful. We were blown away by the quality and taste of food we came back a second day. Highly recommend and would eat here again if given the chance.
Devon Hern?ndez — Google review
We are back and it’s better than ever. (Under new ownership as of last year!) Updated and expanded menu, updated dining area, and now reliably open 6 days a week! Do NOT miss your chance to eat here if you’re in Domi. Our lunch was so good! I got fish tacos and my husband got the burger. (Note: veggie options back on the menu for the vegetarians.) They also offer local craft beers and no more disposable plates, etc when eating here. Huge upgrade. I’m not kidding here, put this one on your list!
Ginger Calem — Google review
This place was great. Beat fish we have had in Costa Rica. The flavor of the fish is great, the fries are great 10/10 would recommend. We got the fish tacos which were super good, but the shining star was definitely the axing fish sandwich. Not only was everything reasonably priced, but delicious! Only thing we didn't like was the lemonade which was made with no sugar at all.
Deirdre Lehmann — Google review
A MUST TRY IN DOMINCAL!!! The food is extremely fresh and delicious! The fresh squeezed juice is a must try. Jason, the owner, is such a nice guy and very hospitable. And the prices were very reasonable considering the freshness in food. FYI, their French fries are hand cut and some of the best fries we’ve ever had.
Chad Smith — Google review
Better not miss their tacos when in Dominical!! They make it from scratch, tastes very fresh! Taco shrimp is very delicious, but their beer battered fish taco is the best-highly recommended!!!!! Just make sure you bring your cash👌
Daniel&Marielle L. — Google review
Excellent experience with great service! We got the fish tacos and the nachos which were a hearty size and very fresh. My wife was impressed by the quality of the fish (and we eat good fish often in alaska). The owners were also very attentive and kind making it an overall excellent experience!
Trevor Staples — Google review
I’ve lived in the area for over three years and this has become one of my go to spots! There are still so many things on the menu I want to try but their beer battered fish tacos are TO DIE FOR! They are what’s pictured down below-the fish is giant and you definitely get your moneys worth;) I also went crazy for the chicken sandwich… you just can’t find any place in the area that does one like they do and it’s served with French fries that are sooo good! I 10/10 recommend taking a stop at pescado loco before leaving dominical😋🐟

We were there with the Family. I had a Perfect Chicken Sandwich. Quescadillas from my wife were also fantastic. The French Fries were selfmade and Great. 5 Stars. Best Restaurant in town.

Awesome fish 'n chips! We're from Canada, and it certainly got our seal of approval. I live in Korea, so I haven't had food as good as this in ages! It's unfortunate they're only open until 7 PM, though.

Outstanding! Had the backend and battered fish tacos with Guac and chips. Absolutely delicious. Owners are amazing and very friendly. We sat down to eat after chatting with them, glad we did. Can't emphasize how good and fresh everything is. Do yourself a favour and stop in and say hi, you'll leave with full, satisfied bellies.
Robert Wagner — Google review
We came for the tacos, and we're glad we did! El Pescado Loco is a delightful little restaurant in a courtyard off the main street of Dominical. We had tacos, both fish and shrimp. The perfectly cooked fish and shrimp were bundled up into tacos with tasty toppings, including a generous dollop of guacamole, and served with a side of chips and guacamole. The food was delicious, the service was quick and efficient, and we enjoyed a chat with the owner, a fellow Canadian. When you are in Dominical, go for the tacos.
Jane N — Google review
Read great reviews about this place and decided to give it a try! We ordered Fish and Chips, Fish Tacos and Guacamole as an appetizer. Oh and a couple of beers! All of the food was excellent and we loved the added touch of the US flag (we’re American)! Also had a chance to meet the owners. Great people and awesome place…will not disappoint!

If you're in the mood for specialty foods, Del Mar Taco Shop in Dominical is a must-visit. This casual outdoor restaurant, located near the main beach, offers delicious burritos and tacos. Their menu includes a variety of options such as surf and turf burrito, beer-battered shrimp or fish, carne asada or pollo asada, bean and cheese, and even veggie or vegan choices.
We had a very nice dinner at ‚Del Mar Taco Shop‘! The restaurant offers a wide variety of different freshly made foods - also many vegetarian and even vegan options are available! We have chosen the Chips and Guacamole as a starter and the super veggie Burrito and the veggie/vegan tacos as a main dish and were definitely not disappointed. Everything from the nacho chips, the hot sauce over to the tortillas are made by themselves - and you can taste it! The restaurant itself is an easy going location close to the beach. The service was super friendly, accommodating and we were warmly welcomed. Make sure to visit it when you are in the area for a tasty meal! In my opinion, one of the best burrito and taco I’ve ever had.

We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of local reviews. We had one Burrito (split in two) and Smoothie Watermelon. The food was good, but according to reviews and photos we expected more. You cannot pay by card at this restaurant, only cash.
Josef H?ib — Google review
Best tacos ever. I got the vegan tacos on a corn tortilla and it was so fresh and delicious. My partner got the chicken, beef, and shrimp tacos and he said the same thing — so dang good!
Erin Brown — Google review
Easily the best place to eat in Dominical. We eat here 2 times and everything was spot on. The meat was grilled fresh right in front of us, the chips fried fresh, and the sourced locally and super fresh. Service was amazing and everyone was very friendly. Don’t come to Dominical and skip this place, you will regret it!!! 10/10
Noah Hicks — Google review
Best taco shop. We arrived on Taco Tuesday so all tacos were half-price, as well as all Imperial beer. The staff is extremely friendly, loading us up with homemade corn chips and salsa while we waited. I ordered the shrimp tacos and was told that there was going to be an extra wait, because someone was just heading to the market to get them. They were extra fresh and they packed them in to each taco. They also ran out of Imperial beer so they offered premium beer for the same price. Everything was tasty. I highly recommend this excellent spot.
Ross Brown — Google review
Great tacos, fresh and tasty, nice guacamole, great flavour and great presentation, washed down with ice tea. Definite recommendation and will be returning.

Amazing tacos near the beach! The prices were good as was the service. We got tacos which were great and super nachos which were really good as well. We’ll be back
Elijah Cooper — Google review
$14 steak burrito seems quite steep, even for Costa Rica. Arrived here on a week day evening and ordered just one burrito for my three year old. The service was quite abrupt and the person at the counter seemed uninterested or annoyed by our presence. The food was okay, but nothing special. The steak was a little tough but the ingredients seemed fresh and the chips and salsa were tasty. Compared to all the other experiences we’ve had in Dominical, I’d recommend other places to try over this one.
Devin Ramdutt — Google review
Best salsa and chips I ever had! The chicken tacos and steak quesadillas were also very good. There was a lot of guacamole on the tacos so beware. Service was good as well. Very friendly staff!

Excellent tacos in dominical! Love the corn and flour tortilla chips that are served with the tacos. Guacamole 10/10!
Kat Yates — Google review
Great food! The tacos were fantastic! Must try the guacamole!! Yummm!!
Danielle N. — Google review
We are here on Taco Tuesday. All tacos 1500, local beer 1000. They offered them on corn and flour tortillas which was great. Staff were very friendly and attentive. All outside seating so it was a little hot but it’s Costa Rica, so can only be expected. Also it was cash only which we were not aware of until we came to pay. They were fine about us calling at the atm up the road and coming back

Tremendous guacamole and homemade taco chips, followed by their delicious vegetarian, shrimp, and fish tacos. Highly recommend. Well worth your time and money, as it will not disappoint.

Fabulous. Best fish tacos I've had here in Costa Rica. Great service. We were there for Taco Tuesday, so ridiculously affordable beer and tacos. We literally saw the local fisher walk the shrimp into the restaurant. Local fresh hot sauce with their homemade chips. Soooo good.

Sushi restaurant
Dominical Sushi in Costa Rica is a must-visit restaurant. I highly recommend trying their sushi boat, which includes various rolls and is perfect for two people. Avoid the cheapest option as it doesn't compare to the others in terms of taste. The sushi is always fresh and made to order, although this may take some time. So, relax, enjoy your company, and feel free to ask the server for more drinks because everyone operates on Tico time here.
We had a great time here! The sushi was fresh and delicious. The drinks were perfect. The service was very attentive. We would come back here in a heartbeat. I highly recommend coming here if you're close by.

Although I love raw sushi the most, their Crunchyroll is so incredibly delicious it will blow your mind!
TikkaShane513 — Google review
The rolls were very nice and fresh. We had some cold Saké along with it too which was a great touch.
Mike L — Google review
A must for us every year we visit CR. Highly suggest ordering a sushi boat (for 2) since there's multiple rolls. Skip the cheapest boat, you'll thank me! It's good but not nearly as good as the others. The sushi is fresh and made after you order which takes time. This will not be a fast experience so relax, enjoy your company and don't be afraid to get up and ask your server for more drinks. Everyone is on Tico time. Hands down some of the best sushi you'll ever eat.
Christine McCool — Google review
We sat on the back patio area, The edamame has a slightly spicy kick, though delicious. Asahi and Sopporo available in bottles. The salmon and tuna were extremely fresh. Great atmosphere and vibes.
robyn bernard — Google review
The sushi rice was gelatinous mush. I'm glad we got take-out because the dining room smelled like sewer gas from the bathroom on one side, and a fetid swamp from the river on the other side. Avocado/cucumber roll was $9. We ordered nine rolls and they put them in nine separate to-go boxes, then charged us $5 for the boxes. The employees are very nice. If you have the time, drive to Manuel Antonio, there are a couple better sushi restaurants there.
Caleb Payne — Google review
Had a great lunch while in Dominical at Dominical Sushi. We were seated immediately and service was very prompt. The piña coladas were great and the sushi came out quick and tasted great. We tried the California roll, spicy tuna roll, and rainbow roll, as well as some tuna sashimi and all was fresh and good! Definitely worth a stop for some good sushi!
Katrina Kowalski — Google review
The sushi was delicious and the price was fair. The food presentation was beautiful. The staff wasn't super friendly but I think that could be because we came at a weird time of day and they may have been focused on prepping the dinner rush. All in all it was pretty good, I would go back.
