Flores

Flores is a town in Guatemala’s northern Petén region. It’s on an island on Lake Petén Itzá, linked by a causeway to the town of Santa Elena. Flores is known as a gateway to nearby Mayan ruins. These include the national parks of Yaxha-Nakum-Naranjo, with its migratory birds, and Tikal, with its towering temples. In Flores, the twin-domed Nuestra Señora de los Remedios cathedral overlooks Parque Central square.

Island
Small, charming island in Lake Peten Itza in northern Guatemala dotted with resorts & lodges.
Perfect place to stay if you want to go to Tikal and get to know the the area. The isla has great food options and nice places to stay. I suggest to get an Airbnb!!!

Come to this island, is one of kind. There great hotels, restaurants, bars.. lots to do here

So adorable. Love watching fish swim on the sidewalk below our hotel! Taking a lancha across the lake is lovely. Can’t wait to come back.

Nice place to go. You can find so many things to do here, like go out for a drink, go to parties, go to eat delicious food (you can find a lot of options). You can see so many foreigns and beautiful people to interact with. You can see also a lot of cheaper and nice hotels (I stayed at Los Amigos (you should visit it)). Enjoy this place!

VERY GOOD PLACE FOR FAMILY VACATION, I RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE

Amazing experience. Felt like I was in some costal European city due to the colours and the cobblestones. Highly recommend going to Jorge’s Rope swing, just a boat ride away. Also the restaurant Raíces was a great spot to eat and watch the sunset.

A different, beautiful place with so many wonderful things to visit. FLORES in Guatemala is definitely wonderful!

The Ramada by Wyndham Tikal Isla de Flores is a relaxed lakeside hotel. It features both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a gym, bar, and laid-back restaurant. With its causeway connecting to the mainland, it serves as an ideal base for exploring nearby attractions like Tikal. This hotel offers the best of both worlds - modernity and cleanliness on the historic island of Flores.
Excellent location right at the entrance to the island of Flores. The staff was behind helpful and friendly. One even helped my teens cut down coconuts from the property and showed then how to open them. The rooms show some wear, but it fits with the ambiance of the location. Transportation is easily available by taxi, boat or TUC-TUC. Very pleasant experience overall.
Jeremy Chevalier — Google review
Excellent points hotel option for visiting Flores and Tikal. This hotel is on the historic island of Flores and is modern and clean. There is air conditioning in the rooms, and many rooms have balconies overlooking the lake. The hotel has currently suspended their complimentary breakfast since COVID and this was not disclosed during booking, so I do deduct a little for that. Otherwise solid hotel, clean rooms, friendly service and excellent location! I would recommend it to anyone visiting this area.
Y B — Google review
The hotel has a great location on Flores island so it's very easy to reach everywhere. For the price it's a decent hotel. The room was quite spacious and had a very good view of the lake. Service was friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was good.
Ian Paterson — Google review
1.Restaurant is closed and there is no coffee available at all. Not even as a courtesy. 2. No one picks up the phones when I called to check the room availability. Both numbers online do not work. 3. The web page is not updated and does state the actual state of the hotel. 4. Gym is closed. 5. Parking can be a hassle and available parking is very limited due to location on the Island. 6. I would suggest to steer clear from this hotel. I am not one to write bad reviews but this place sucks..Do not come here !
erik reyes — Google review
It was a nice place to stay and was a popular place. The location is very nice to be able to get something to eat, shop, and entertainment for the night life. It would be a good hotel for any and everyone; families, younger crowds, older crowds, or even by yourself. I do recommend this place! I would say the only downside was that I felt they needed more front desk help so that there is not a long wait when you need something. Also, it would have been nice to have some soda vending machines.
Jessica Quintana — Google review
The employees were very kind. Rooms are tiny. Internet is awful. Restaurant only serves breakfast. You can hear the music from Flores town across the lake.
Casey Hearne — Google review
Our tour guide stated that this is the best property on the island. That said, standards must be low and can be equated with a typical motel or Inn in the USA. Positives: the location is perfect, the staff is super nice and accommodating. Rooms are air-conditioned and clean. Two pools. Some view. The service is exceptional. Negatives: the pools are in need of clarifier. No fridge in the room. Safe and phone didn't work but that was rectified. Overall a pleasant experience.
Adil Yitiz — Google review
Great staff, attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and bilingual (English/ Spanish). The building is old, moldy, and falling apart. The internet is only capable of the most basic functions, email, web pages, maps; but is not able to handle business meetings, zoom, streaming video services.
David Torres — Google review
Highly recommended, the place is safe, very clean rooms, air conditioning, lake view, very friendly staff, they have parking, nearby restaurants. Easy access, close to the airport.
Josu? Melgar — Google review
The shower handle was held by a thread, and I never got hot water, but a shower was possible. Bed was comfortable with plenty of towels. Staff was extremely helpful in getting a ride to Tikul.
SoiEnergy — Google review
Lovely staff but this hotel needs to have an eco-filter water purifier. Other hotels in Flores have one. Forcing customers to buy plas bottles of water is bad for Guatemala, the planet and just not acceptable in a hotel that claims to be so good. Also, there should be a fridge and tea and coffee-making facilities in the rooms.
Anne Kayes — Google review
Great place to stay, great location, rooms nice and clean
B Calvo — Google review
The only good thing about it is that it’s in Flores, the service is not good. It’s not the employees fault, they are helping as much as they can. The amenities showing on the website are false. We booked a room and when we called for the free shuttle to pick us up from the airport we were told we have to pay for it, the gym is not working, no free breakfast and my shower only has cold water. The price this hotel is charging for the night is way too much for the service provided. It’s a disappointment and false advertising. Do yourself a favor and book a room somewhere else.
Sandra L Warrick — Google review
Good value for the price, not as nice as ramadas in Canada for example, but a pretty decent place in Guatemala.
Kyle Coons — Google review
Horrible place! We Don’t recommend. My husband & I stayed here a couple days ago, thinking it would be a comfortable & pleasant stay. There was NO running hot water (we had to shower in freezing cold water), but we decided to let it slide. As we understand things happen. What I was not OK with, was the fact that it was almost 1am & there were 15+ people in the pool making it difficult for us guest to get some rest. & I say “us” including my husband because there was a young lady with her baby also complaining about the noise that these people were causing. I spoke to management & they were so unorganized & did not help the situation. Please go somewhere else & don’t waste your money on this hotel. There’s way cheaper & more accommodating hotels near by!!!

Hotel
Los Amigos Hostel is a vibrant and popular accommodation option in Flores, known for its colorful and friendly atmosphere. The hostel offers simple dorms and comfortable private rooms, catering to budget-conscious travelers as well as those seeking more privacy. Guests can enjoy the buzzing bar, a restaurant serving delicious food, and an in-house travel agency. The hostel also features clean facilities with great air conditioning and daily cleaning services.
Came for dinner, amazing deals on drinks, the burgers are incredible - I had the veggie chickpea was so good!!! So worth a visit and I can imagine the rooms are lovely to stay in!
Callie Ruddick — Google review
This place is really cool, it's got a great restaurant inside, great tour desk, super comfy beds and very easy to find and easy to explore the whole island. The only thing is if you're booking the cheapest rooms, the air-conditioning is only on at night and it does gets super hott and hard to escape the heat during the day if you don't have access to the air conditioning
Desiree Del Rey — Google review
Los Amigos hostel is too chaotic. the rooms are nice and clean but the hostel is really weirdly set up. They have a busy restaurant area right by the showers and in the evening it was impossible to even get a beer at the bar. The kitchen is nice and there a small hostel guests only spot to hang out in which is nice. Personally, I thought that the hostel was trying to do too much and the hostel guests are not the priority.
Olivia Chapman — Google review
Nice place to stay if you’re visiting Flores or Tikal, right on the island and walkable to everything. Private room options and nice there’s a bar and restaurant on site. They need to work on their hospitality, all staff were very rude and unhelpful
Bon Cleaver — Google review
We didn't stay here, just ate at their restaurant. The food and service was fine. However, there was a fire burning in a firepit which caused a great deal of smoke, so much so that it was hard to breathe and our clothes smelled like smoke even after a washing. They also allow cigarette smoking in the restaurant.
Michael Greer — Google review
Nice hostel but style over substance. Reception woman incredibly rude and uninterested. Bar/restaurant staff are lovely and friendly. Lots of options for food and drink. Good happy hour too. Just wouldn't stay here in the hostel again - not good value for money and a lot of other places on the island that are cheaper and friendlier.
Kate Robinson — Google review
Such a lovely guesthouse. I stayed there in December 2008 and really had a great time with super friendly staff and other travellers. Looks like it has upgraded a lot since then haha. Happy you survived the pandemic and that business is back as usual. I really with I could visit Guatemala again, as it remains one of my favourite trips ever.
JustForFun KohPhangan — Google review
Very nice and luxurious hostel with an excellent restaurant and bar inside! Very clean, air conditioning in the rooms and very dark and quiet at night so you get a good night's sleep. Highly recommend this place, this is where most people going to Flores are staying. They also have great areas for relaxing with chairs, sofas and hammocks.
BELLON — Google review
I didn’t stay in the hostel, but went several times for drinks and food. Drinks (smoothies, coffee) were good, while the food (bowls) quite boring and small. The place is beautiful though, a hidden garden.
Alisa Nesterova — Google review
Very nice hostel with lovely beds and seating area. The bar staff were very nice. The hostel staff were not great they were difficult to deal with and kept coming into our room with torches multiple times a night for no known reason. Would recommend for a few nights but be aware that some of hostel staff can be rude/unhelpful.
Claire O'Brien — Google review
The rooms are very good, nice atmosphere and stuff. The common areas are very nice and has tons of places so sit in. There is no hot water in the dorms with private bathroom so get the shared bathroom. The restaurant is super slow, the pizza is good but the hamburger is terrible.
Gal Hershkovits — Google review
Cool hostel and has an amazing atmosphere. I booked here for 5 nights, even with the high price, the service was very poor. I requested for a lower bed and they couldn't accommodate for the request even for a single day even though they had the opportunity to do. I recommend staying elsewhere and visiting here for their bar and restaurant. The spa here I would rate as 2 out of 5.
Vineel Reddy — Google review
An overpriced place, where the essentials of the hostel are kind of disappointing for the price. The place itself is very cozy and the staff is super friendly but in the dorm there are no curtains. The door to our room (deluxe dorm) opened very very noisy and over the en-suite-bathroom door, there was like half a meter open space so that all noises of the bathroom went straight away to the dorm. If you like the vibes, i recommend to stay at another hostel and just go there as they have a big open-space which is open to the public. For half the price you find much! better rooms all around the island.

WARNING: BED BUGS AND RUDE STAFF!! Never had such a terrible experience in a hostel. I couldn’t sleep all night because my bed had bedbugs. So I changed beds in the morning but when I showed the staff a picture of their mattress with bedbugs on it they said “That’s not our mattress.”. When I then took them to the room to prove it to them they told me those were not bedbugs but instead pieces of cockroaches and mold (also not things I want on my mattress btw!!). When I told them that I was 100% sure since I had the pictures on which you could clearly see them and loads of bites on my body they just laughed at me (that was the manager herself). After long discussions they refunded me the night but they kept blaming me and making me feel bad. They then cut off my wristband (which you get when you open a tab) and said I would now have to pay cash for everything straight away “in case I pull a stunt like this every night”. Wow, I couldn’t believe it. All of this happened on Christmas Eve. Instead of saying sorry for the inconvenience, they made me feel terrible. I want to add that I never blamed them for having bedbugs. I know that this is something that’s very hard to control with so many travelers coming and going. But the way they handled it was incredibly rude and unacceptable. All in all a horrendous experience. Way to ruin Christmas. Oh and they checked somebody into that bed the very same day without treating it or exchanging the mattress.

Good, spacious AC rooms. Aesthetically pleasing hostel and bar with kitchen for hostel guests. Restaurant ok, but coffee seems expensive. Tours are competitive with surrounding agencies. Joshua on reception was helpful and always smiling, that makes a big difference.
Phillip Brightmore — Google review
Great place for drink, food and arranging activities and transport around Flores (everything was cheapest or nearly the cheapest here), the staff were very friendly, the place looks amazing. Downside - every single time we ordered food and or a drink some mistakes were made, or the order took unreasonably long ( like 15 minutes for some items, +45mins for other food ordered at the same time ). There wasn't a single time we got what we asked for the first time round
Michael Tyson — Google review
Los Amigos was great, love the plants everywhere, World Cup final was fun to watch there! Rented kayaks easily for a cruise around the lake. Easy to book shuttles anywhere, Recommend!
Jeremy Hiemstra — Google review
The restaurant is really beautiful to have dinner! The atmosphere is also great! There are lots of young people. The food was good. The service was kind but a little bit slow.
David Aragon — Google review
Very cool hostel with a great resturant and bar area. The AC in the rooms is great and they are all very clean and cleaned everyday. However, the staff are incredibly difficult to deal with. When checking in they wouldn't let us pay there and then and when I went to pay later that day I was told by the person who checked us in to wait at the empty front desk instead of just taking the payment. Eventually the next day I managed to pay however it was incredibly complicated and they had to 'double check' instead of just looking up my booking and taking payment. Also they charge 7% extra for card payment which was not advertised on the booking confirmation. Also staff members repeatedly came into our room during the night shining torches on us while we sleep and banging on the door in the middle of the night to let in an unknown person who we later found out was not a guest, and had left the next morning. We were then questioned by staff the next morning as to why someone had slept in the bed. Very strange! Overall clean and nice hostel but difficult to deal with staff. Also they have a one towel per room policy so bring a towel!
Joshua Warren — Google review
Great hostel! Great vibe. Nice food and drinks. The rooms are good and ac works which is nice in this weather. The bathrooms are outside. So you have to walk through the restaurant when you take a shower. Overall a Nice hostel. Would defenitly recommend!
Margot Tromm — Google review
One of the worst hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Despite the price (definitely not budget for the area) there are no amenities to show for it. They don’t have towels available to rent for dorm rooms, no common lounge areas or even complimentary coffee. As other reviewers have said, the restaurant/bar forms the main area of the hostel so there’s not really anywhere else to spend time. There’s loud construction on during the day which makes it hard to use this space, especially if you’re trying to do work. The only bathrooms/showers for the dorm are also in the middle of the restaurant and shared with those patrons… super weird. The in house travel agent was rarely there when I tried to find him. When I did finally book something (yoga), they then told me it was cancelled when I showed up. The dorm room is super basic for the price. No privacy curtain, the bed wobbles and the air con was gurgling next to me all night. I will say though that the bar and it’s staff are nice — it’s a good place to have a drink. Save your money and stay somewhere else though!
Kelly Newton — Google review
I have have been here once before, and the atmosphere is really great! The people are kind, the rooms are clean and the food is very tasty. The bathrooms are located slightly weird, but it does not really matter. I had a great stay and would definitely come back next time I visit Flores!
Aaricia Kuiters — Google review
Great space in a central location in Flores. This is a popular place with locals and tourists both visiting the restaurant & bar for good food. Reception could have helped a bit more with questions but the restaurant space is lovely.
Debbie Sisson — Google review
Cool hostel in a very central location. Didn’t stay in the rooms but came here seceral times for drinks while in Flores for 4 nights. Cool vibe in the inner court. Cocktails were very good and reasonably priced. Location is perfect in the center of Flores (although everything is close in Flores).

In love with this hostel! The only problem is I'm not a backpacker, I travel with a suitcase and the street leading up to the hostel is all cobblestones! Thank goodness I found someone to help me carry the suitcase, just be warned. Otherwise what a great place 🤗 They help you book tours and transportation and there is even a massage service with a wonderful therapist!
Minai Massimova — Google review
Stopped to book a tour and ended up staying for a drink too. Tour desk was helpful and came across as reliable, and my cocktail was v tasty. The food menu looks tasty and decently priced

I didn't get to go to the hostel to stay but the food is amazing, my family and I shared the veggie burger, the mango smoothie bowl, and the mango power bowl, food generaly was very good, staff were nice, great atmosphere and vibe, I would personally recommend the fries here because they are just so good. Would recommend.

We only stayed one night here but ate and drank and took a tour (Tikal) and got massages while there. It was all great! Loved the overall atmosphere and Andrea, my masseuse was amazing. Good happy hour prices and friendly staff! Would love to come back for longer than a night:day!

Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel is an exquisite rainforest resort that offers serene suites in charming wooden bungalows, as well as stylish dining options and a refreshing outdoor pool. The hotel boasts an impressive array of amenities, including exceptional water pressure in the showers and comfortable bedding. Guests can also indulge in rejuvenating spa treatments provided by experienced therapists like Fernanda, who is widely recognized for her exceptional skills.
Wish I could give more than 5 stars! Highly recommend this hotel, it is stunning, the staff are wonderful and the location is just beautiful. Elmer and Alex looked after us most during our stay and we have never felt so looked after. Truly relaxing escape and the best hotel we staying in during our honeymoon in Central America. Even when the hotel was full we still felt like the only ones there. Plus there is a private Jacuzzi in every room!
Lauren Bose — Google review
I appreciate brevity, so here’s why we loved staying at Las Lagunas: (1) Conveniently located near the City of Flores and Flores airport, and only a short 45 minute drive to the extraordinary Tikal; (2) The food, ambiance, and grounds are exceptional. (3) Staff was pleasant and attentive. And our poor Spanish wasn’t an issue since most staff could speak English and Spanish fluently. (4) Best pool I’ve ever seen at a boutique hotel (by a long shot). (5) Room was excellent. Spacious and updated with excellent views. (6) Tons of wildlife on property, but never felt unsafe, just entertained. Only issue was room service. Took a bit longer than you’d expect. But that wasn’t enough to drop our review from 5 to 4 stars. Can’t wait to go back.

Pros: Staff (especially restaurant staff) was extremely kind and efficient. They always went out of their way to make sure we had a great meal. The hotel truly is beautiful and the setting is incredibly unique. The rooms, whenever the AC and internet were working, were very comfortable. If it weren't for the several AC and internet issues we had, this would have been a 5-star experience worthy of the price we paid. Cons: AC - Unfortunately, we checked in on what was likely one of the hottest days of the year in Flores, and neither of the two rooms we checked into had working air-conditioners. The area suffers from constant power outages (from the government energy provider), so the hotel has the back-up generators kick in to ensure no power interruption. So far, so good. The issue is that the hotel recently replaced many of its AC units with devices that will switch off for 10 minutes or longer each time there is a power outage. According to staff, this system was put in place to prevent the devices from burning after so many outages. The problem for guests is that this results in the AC effectively not functioning for the majority of the day. On a 110-degree weather day, this is simply unacceptable, especially for a hotel that presents itself as 5 stars. My family and I had to spend the entire first day of our stay reaching out multiple times to staff asking to fix the issue, after each instance where they claimed it had been resolved, only for us to find the AC switching off again. The staff also was clearly frustrated at our requests, rather than offering their deepest apologies and committing to having the problem fixed, which should have been their response the first time we reached out. Because we had no internet in our room either, we ended up having to walk to the front desk multiple times, including the last time at midnight, when the issue was finally fixed. Internet - The second big source of frustration was the internet, which simply was not working at all in either of our rooms. Each of the many times we reached out to staff, their only response was that they had technicians looking into the issue, but this went on for the entire 3 nights we stayed there. Half of our group ended up opting to move to a different room where the internet was working. The lack of internet meant we could not use our hotel phones to call reception or use the TVs in the rooms.

What an experience!! I was lucky enough to stay at Las Lagunas while visiting the area with some friends and let me tell you this place is just wonderful. The rooms were amazing, the food was delicious, but it was the staff that sets this place apart from any other experience I’ve ever had. I stayed here for three days and we were able to also do excursions including Tikal which was such magical (we had Sergio. Who was arranged by the hotel and he was just top notch). I surely recommend a stay here if you can and I would be back in a heart beat.

This hotel is just beautiful. We throughly enjoyed our stay here. Everything including water pressure in the showers and comfort of the bedding was great! Fernanda the massage therapist was hands down, one of the best massage therapists I’ve experienced at a spa while traveling. The ability to communicate via What’s App was so helpful since I am deaf and do not use the telephone and have communication barriers. The hotel was very attentive and responsive to What’s App, unlike some other hotels I’ve stayed at. They actually respond in a timely fashion. I’d definitely recommend this to others.

WOW! Las Lagunas, thank you for the most amazing experience. Hands down, this place was a mini paradise! The rooms are gorgeous (we had a total of 3 rooms), the views are SPECTACULAR and the tours offered are excellent. Most importantly, the entire staff of Las Lagunas - thank you for being incredible, thoughtful and friendly. This place is not to be missed! We're all coming back, see you in a few years!

We have stayed for 4 nights - it was magical. We had a huge room right on the lake, with big windows overlooking the lake - it was lovely to wake up to the serene beauty of the place, mist flowing above the water, very peaceful and idyllic. We did quite a lot of hiking and thoroughly enjoyed soaking our sore muscles in our private hot tub in the evenings. The room had AC (though I have to say that our clothes felt a bit damp when we got to a much drier climate of Antigua). Beds were super comfy, shower was great and hot enough - though the water would fluctuate very slightly and wouldn't get really hot. The resort is beautifully designed. But the best part was food and staff. Hands down, best food and staff of all places we stayed in Guatemala - it says a lot because food was amazing everywhere and people as well! The resort is remotely located - you cannot just walk to town, you can take complimentary bicycles, or ask hotel to get you a taxi, or have your own car. We would definitely stay there again!

Awesome place, beautiful hotel, rooms very clean and spacious and the views were incredible. Food was very good, fresh and good presentation.

We Stayed at Lagunas two nights. Exceptional Hotel to experience, the staff is exceptionally nice welcoming and helpful, the food needless to say is exceptional. The rooms are spacious, good water pressure and the views over the water is very nice. What stood out to us is our driver Edwin, he was very friendly, mostly speaks Spanish and it seemed like he was always available, always ready way in advance waiting for us and drove us safe to all the places. The monkey tour is a must, meeting Margarita (the Spider Monkey) is quite impressive. The hotel provided us with a tour guide for Tical (Luis Figueroa) who was exceptional. We not only got to see the Ruins of Tical and heard so much history, Luis knows animals and plants as well. We saw rare birds, insects and even an incredible rare monkey baby that you usually only see in the evening and night.
Ben Schindler — Google review
Extremely poor customer service. We booked our stay one month in advance and they did not arrange any of the excursions we had booked. They forgot to book our airport transport and tour to Tikal (which is the sole reason why we came here). When we turned up, they randomly booked us a non English speaking guide when they knew we specifically asked for an English speaking guide. In addition, they charged us an extra 25% on the rate agreed to over the phone without flagging or telling us that. Property is nice but customer service is horrific and not worthy of the quality you’d expect for a “5 star” hotel

This hotel is beautiful and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very polite and helpful. Many thanks to Alex, who served our dinner which was absolutely delicious. He also helped us order breakfast in our room so we could be ready on time for our private Tikal tour in the morning. The hotel is about a 20 minutes drive to Flore. And a taxi can be arranged by the front desk to take you there and also pick you up. The price is $20 one-way and it cost $15 additional if it is after 9pm.

Stayed for about a week & had the most magical time! Perfectly located for visiting Flores, Tikal and Yaxha. Really appreciated the transportation they can provide to the airport & Flores. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are large with a gorgeous view. The food was delicious, especially the white fish, and the menu is really accommodating for someone who is lactose intolerant. What makes this one of our favorite places we’ve ever stayed in is the incredible staff! They are so kind & hardworking, we especially appreciated Carlos, Elmer, Mynor, Alex and Victor who made our stay what it was. Absolutely recommend and hope to come back.

We loved every minute of our stay. The staff are friendly, helpful, and full of personality. The room was spacious, clean, and stylish. The monkey tour was a standout experience.

We have just completed a tour of Guatemala, Belize and Mexico and Las Lagunas was by far our favourite of the six hotels we stayed at. From the moment we approached the property, our first location in Guatemala, it was apparent we would feel very safe there as the security guard was thorough in checking we had reason to enter the premises. Our room was absolutely fantastic (room one), even in bad weather so we can only imagine how amazing it would be with blue skies over the lagoon. The room was so nice that for our first meal we ordered room service which was efficient and tasty. At breakfast and dinner time (and happy hour poolside cocktail o’clock) we were served by Victor and Elmer who were the very best of the best. Always one step ahead and so friendly too. Carlos on the front desk also deserves a shoutout for his most friendly welcome and help organising logistics during our stay. The food in the restaurant was delicious and we really appreciated the check out time of midday as it enabled us to do the complimentary monkey island tour on the morning of our departure - an experience which really stole the show. It was something you could easily overlook doing but a real highlight of our holiday. We saw a crocodile and margarita the spider monkey even boarded our boat for some snacks! Whilst located neither exactly next to Flores nor Tikal, we definitely recommend Las Lagunas as a base for discovering both locations.

This truly spectacular hotel offers seclusion and immersion in a wildlife-filled paradise surrounding. The hotel is only 15 mins away from the Flores airport, which is very convenient and yet it feels like you’re in the middle of the jungle and hours away from civilization. Our room was waterfront and had an area overlooking the lagoon which had a jacuzzi and a table; so it was ideal for not only bathing but also meditating, yoga, or for ordering room service while enjoying the view. The staff is more than attentive and servile, Elmer who was our server during breakfast and lunch went above and beyond. Be sure to contact hotel beforehand so you can schedule a private sunrise guided tour of Tikal which is a once in a lifetime experience. The hotel has a very nice pool, it also has kayaks which can be used to explore the lagoon, a private museum with really incredibly anthropological pieces, a spa and they offer visits in the morning to a nearby islands inhabited by monkeys which is delightful. The food served is delicious, the ceviche was great but the blanco which is a local fish was the star of the show. I would absolutely recommend to anyone and would like to return whenever I go back to Peten

Los Amigos was great, love the plants everywhere, World Cup final was fun to watch there! Rented kayaks easily for a cruise around the lake. Easy to book shuttles anywhere, Recommend!

I have have been here once before, and the atmosphere is really great! The people are kind, the rooms are clean and the food is very tasty. The bathrooms are located slightly weird, but it does not really matter. I had a great stay and would definitely come back next time I visit Flores!

Great space in a central location in Flores. This is a popular place with locals and tourists both visiting the restaurant & bar for good food. Reception could have helped a bit more with questions but the restaurant space is lovely.

Restaurante Raices received a full 5-star rating for their excellent service, delicious meat options, and acceptance of AMEX. However, they were unable to offer the local seafood dish pez mero. It's worth noting that cash tips are preferred in this area as many restaurants do not include gratuity or provide the option to tip with cards. The ambiance at Restaurante Raices is pleasant, clean, and adheres to COVID safety measures. The staff is attentive and friendly.
Only came for drinks, but the ambience is lovely; it’s very clean and covid safe; and the staff are attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back for food!

I went to this restaurant so many times during my stay in Flores that the waiters started to learn my name LOL. Highly recommend the prawn dish and the tacos de birria. Special thanks to the restaurant coordinator, he is nice and always made me feel welcome. If I ever come back to flores, I would eat here again.

Nice place, good food. But come with time the service is slow. Nice view of the lake. In the evening they open a floating platform to dine, very romantic
Daniel Aizenstatd — Google review
Woooow! I wasn't expecting this place to be sooo good. The restaurant is luxurious, the food is phenomenal. The pizzas are to die for. They have 2 restaurants one on Flores Island and the other right across the lake, they have a shuttle every 5 minutes and it's free, plus there's a swimming platform and paddleboards. 100% recommend.
Paulina Polonia — Google review
The reason for the full 5 starts is because the service was good, the meat was great, and they accept AMEX, but they did not have pez mero (local seafood dish)…. FYI, don’t forget to leave a cash tip, many of the restaurants in this little island do not include the tip nor do they give you the option to leave one if you pay with a card, so be kind to your server (good hardworking people here).

I went with a friend for a quick meal. The pizza was very rich and savory. The service was great.

You will love this place immediately, looks so luxury that you won't believe the prices on the menu. So romantic!!! Food is incredibly tasty. Customer service is 110%, we ended up our Island of the flowers tour in this restaurant. I'll come back for sure for the Pizza Lomo. Don't leave Flores without eating here.

Primarily popular western dishes, with a few Guatemalan/Latin options. We had a large margarita pizza, the toppings and cheese were great, the texture was a bit soft. The Argentinian chorizo from the grill was yum. Order the chips and guacamole, they were freshly made. The side salads and refried beans are a great deal at Q15. The food does take a while to arrive, we were waiting for 30 mins for even the appetizer. The service is very good, and location is great as you can watch the fish and turtles in the water while you eat.
Mini Rag — Google review
Probably the most ambitious restaurant in any respect in Flores. Good range of food and drink offers (not too big, not too small, no surprises) and professional service. Food quality is okay (cheese cake) to excellent (specialty burger), presentation is good, and prices are mostly fair. Service is quick and polite but lacks a bit warmth and personal attention. A good addition to the local restaurant scene, however, well worth being considered.
Holger Krauße — Google review
Nice cocktails and decent prices even though it looks like a bit upscale venue. Very friendly service. A lot of staff and they have earphone radios and electronic pads to take your order, spending way more time with than they would do with a pen and paper. Apparently someone is into IT gear. :)

I was pleasantly surprised by the low ratings given to Restaurante San Telmo, as I had a fantastic time there. I even went back for a second visit during my short stay just to enjoy another cocktail. Although it took a little longer than expected for my order to arrive, the attention to detail and fruity flavors of the Margarita made up for it. The food was also excellent, which can sometimes be uncertain when ordering vegetarian options.
Quite shocked to see the low ratings as we had a great time at this place. We even came back a 2nd time on our short stay to have another cocktail. Granted, it wasn't busy so a low workload but it took a bit for our order to arrive. But when it arrived, we just loved the eye to detail and fruite flavours of the Margarita. Food was great too. Which is always a guess when you order vegetarian. They tried to promote their terrace upstairs even though the area downstairs is just perfect with the stunning view of the lake and the quirky decorations.

Nice rooftop terrace, with an even better happy hour (until 10pm!). Came here for the falafel which they unfortunately took of the menu, but nevertheless the tacos were very good. Bit pricy, but would recommend for a small bite/drink.
Anton Hoynck Van Papendrecht — Google review
It's ok the quality, place was nice, around 10 euros pizza seems expensive but maybe is normal in the island.
Yonathan Stein — Google review
Literally the worst and most overpriced pizza I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant in my life. Food was cold and it took forever for them to serve it. On the menu they had quite a few different beers but in the end only the most basic watered down lager was in stock. Would never ever recommend this place to anyone.
Valtteri Perämäki — Google review
Food is ok, not really tasty for the bowl... What is not fine at all is the bill. They added twice the 10% for services. Mandala bowl is 65, they added 10% once, which means 71.50 and they added 10% a second time at the end of the ticket... And it is the same for everything so at the end 20% more than the price showed on the menu...
Antoine D. — Google review
We received the worst service. Although the view is amazing and the place is lovely, it took ages for our food to come and once it did, it was very average, and the drinks were missing. They charged us an extra pizza and an extra drink that we never received. We had to wait another half hour to get the corrected bill. What a mess this restaurant is. Highly unrecommended.
M?lina Nantel — Google review
Came here for drinks Saturday night around 830pm. Went upstairs to the rooftop bar area. Great view of the lake. Live music was a charming touch. Wasn't very busy (5-6 tables) waited 10 min, was not greeted, had to ask for menu. Ordered the drink special expecting it to look like the photo with an upside down bottle in it but got what's pictured. It wasn't filled to the top and arrived at room temperature.
Bobbi M — Google review
Came here to have a late lunch and was really stoked upon seeing some vegetarian options in the menu. We sat upstairs on the terrace, which has a killer view of the lake and is beautifully decorated. My fiancé ordered the veggie burger but I made the mistake of ordering the papaya salad - the dressing had about 5 cloves of garlic and was overwhelmingly strong. The flavor was just too pungent and killed all the other ingredients' flavors. It wasn't filling at all and I left even hungrier than I was before entering the restaurant. Also, it was supposed to come with pumpkin seeds but it didn't and when I asked about them the waiter just shrugged. I think the salad was way too expensive for what it is - I'm not really content with the experience I had but I'd give it a second chance if the prices were more reasonable.

Great view and good service. Food was pretty good. Drinks were good for happy hour. They do have bottles of APA and IPA. One is called American and the other is not I.P.A it's actually pronounced out IPA or Eepa! 😆 You won't get one calling it I.P.A.
The Smith Show — Google review
Popped in for a dinner well after sunset. The place has a nice terrace with a view of the lake. The food is eclectic, a mix of Italian, American, Asian and local. Drinks are actually cheap if you happen upon the happy hour, my beer was 2 for 30Q so just under 2 dollars a bottle. Pizza will cost you 10-12USD, a bowl of Pad Thai noodles about 7 or 8. Not too bad, I'd come back here again.
Robert Chomicz — Google review
Mmm, this was our first meal on the island and it was pretty good. The healthy grain bowls were awesome but the suarma was not that good. Food takes a while to come out but it was very fresh and tasty. Sit in the rooftop bar for sunset and an incredible view.

La Villa Del Chef is a charming restaurant with stunning views of the lake. The whole white fish dish is highly recommended and lives up to its reputation as something special. The old-fashioned chip pan chips are also a standout, adding to the overall dining experience. While the menu may not be the most exciting, other dishes like the falafel burger and steak skewer are tasty options.
Food was very delicious! Especially the fries. I loved the falafel burger and the steak of the skewer was tasty. We arrived during happy hour and so cocktails were only around 10 QZT. The frozen daqueris really hit the spot on the hot day. Great views of the lake and service was friendly.

As others have said the whole white fish is incredible, I ordered it based on the reviews I'd seen and wasn't disappointed, it really was something special. Also honourable mention to the chips, like old fashioned chip pan chips, which are great. That aside the menu wasn't the most exciting and those that didn't order the fish weren't blown away by the food, although everyone enjoyed what they had.

The restaurant Terrazzo, Ristorante E Bar offers exceptional cuisine and has a remarkable staff that is always available when needed. The portion sizes are generous, and the restaurant's location on the second floor with a view of the lake adds to its charm. The open kitchen is impressive and operates smoothly with both men and women working together diligently to maintain cleanliness. The drinks served, including a large pitcher of lemonade at great prices, are of excellent quality.
Excellent food, outstanding staff right there when you need the. Portion size were huge, we went two nights in a row it was that good. It looks out on the lake, on the second floor. Love an open kitchen ... they have a great one. Women and men working very hard together and very clean, so efficient. Drinks were excellent had a pitcher of lemonade, very ... very large & great prices. Shared a pizza the second night, very filling. Still had room for dessert, had the browny with snickers ice cream amazingly delicious.

This rating is VERY wrong. If you want to go for a beer with a nice view - that’s fine, if you plan to eat and have a cocktail - it’s a no-no. Very bad food and very bad drinks. Just no. It might look ok, but it tastes terrible. Meat is prepared outside without any protection.

Charming place roof top bar overlooking the lake. Open seating. Try to get a seat near the look out. Arrived 30 min before closed and still got 5 star service. Staff works as a team and they are extremely attentive. Btw pizza is delicious! Thin crust. Fresh ingredients. Would definitely go back.

Had a craving for pizza. Found this place. Ordered a pizza to go since my hotel was a few steps away and with a better view anyway. (and the music here was too noisy for me to stay). Great pizza, perfectly baked, I could taste the freshness. Took about 15 minutes for them to make it. Reasonable size, I would call it medium. Thin crust. I thought about saving some for tomorrow but once I started eating it there was no tomorrow.

Pretty place with a nice balcony to watch the lake. The food was amazing. We had a salad with shrimps, pasta with mushrooms and a tuna steak. The Tuna steak was amazing, so were the side dishes and the salad. We also had a strawberry Daiquiri. The service was very good and they had an English menu. There's also plenty of cocktail options.

We found this spot because we were looking for the best spot in Flores to watch the sunset. Not only is it the best spot to watch the sunset it turns out it might be the best restaurant in Guatamala. That isn’t an exaggeration. They serve traditional fresh home made pasta and pizza. We got the shrimp carpaccio and the fettuccine alla carne. Both were the best we’ve ever had. A true taste of Italy in Flores. We watched the boats go by as we ate as the sun set on another beautiful day in Flores. The owner Marielos was so hospitable, friendly and kind. She runs this beautiful restaurant for the last 15 years. No wonder it is so successful!

I rate this restaurant highly because we had delicious food and the waitstaff was accommodating to the fact that I was gluten free. The beautiful shrimp salad came with garlic bread but they brought me yummy potatoes instead. Also highly enjoyed my Mayan mojito that had basil instead of mint. Good service and view. The waitstaff speaks both Spanish and English.
