Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Codfather Seafood & Sushi is a relaxed and contemporary seafood restaurant with views of the ocean and mountain. They have a sushi conveyor belt where you can order sushi from cases filled with fish that was swimming earlier. The menu has no items, so you can be sure what's on offer is fresh. The seafood at Codfather is also a favorite among locals for its high quality and variety.
First they listen to how you want your food and prepare as requested. I can’t do sodium so tricky to eat out, veggies here were prepared without the soy sauce, thanks. Best fish I’ve had since Thailand. Recommend yellow tail, prawns and calamari. Peri peri sauce is homemade without salt!!! Nice and hot. Very pleasant place to dine, staff top notch
Vicki Janks — Google review
Awesome place to get fresh delicious fish. They have a great process where you pick your own fish from their display. We also enjoyed several of their sushi offerings. Their pudding with ice cream was so good that we ordered a second one! An awesome place, you must go if you are in the area!
Jean-Yves Bouguet — Google review
Honestly such a fabulous place—came with a local friend who also loves this place. Definitely a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it. I would say they served the best calamari I’ve ever had in my life. All the dishes were simple but so fresh and so delicious. Well worth the trip and the price! Service was amazing, our servers were incredibly lovely, friendly, helpful and very informative. If I lived in Cape Town I would be here every week.

Our BEST meal in Cape Town, and we packed in a lot of meals. We loved the fact that there was no menu, you just choose your fish and it was cooked fresh for you. When I asked about mussels, then said they didn’t put them on the menu as they couldn’t cook them fresh in 10 mins to your plate, which is a sign of the principles of the restaurant. Fresh dining. The food was genuinely outstanding, all the fish was cooked perfectly and the 4 sauces they gave with it were incredible as well. We were on our honeymoon, and they moved us to a brilliant table overlooking camps bay and gave us a fresh glass of bubbles. Overall our experience was top notch and we would come back in a heart beat.
Duncan Keir — Google review
Lovely seafood restaurant with nice *fish market concept*. The staff will show you the seafood at the counter and then you make your choice, they weigh it and tell you the price..the shellfish and fish were both delicious and the wine selection was great too. Our waiter was very funny, knowledgable and attentive. Unfortunately we only got a table in the back room since we had no reservation but it was a beautiful dinner nonetheless.

Short: awesome and highly recommended!! Long: I saw many different opinions about this restaurant and tried it with my wife. It's certainly not cheap, but a restaurant of this calibre is not meant to be. Service is awesome. One of the few restaurants that have enough waiters for all the tables. Waiters are professional, knowledgable and super friendly. Food quality is beyond amazing. I thought I had good sushi before, but oh my word. This is setting standards and I'm looking forward trying the seafood on my next visit
Stefan Ortmann — Google review
Food was amazing, so fresh and delicious and worth the value paid. The taste of fresh seafood and the way it was cooked and the food presentations makes you want to eat there regularly. Despite of the rainy weather outside, it was very warm and cozy inside with the smell of freshly cooked shrimps and seafood. Staff were very helpful and friendly as well.
Maha Farid — Google review
For date night we thought we'd splurge on some shellfish and other seafood. I was rather disappointed that my R600 apiece south coast lobster was severely over seasoned with the house spice. Not only that, but all our food was seasoned with this, which unfortunately masked the natural flavors of the food, making it hard to enjoy each individual item. The shellfish was inconsistently cooked, with some cooked perfectly, while others very much overdone. The calamari was also very chewy and the scallops had a mushy texture. I was also unimpressed with the fries which tasted of rancid oil. The best part of the night was our warm welcome at the entrance and the excellent service provided by our waiter. I was especially impressed by how quickly and unobtrusive they were at cleaning our table and adjacent tables. Definitely not something I'm keen to do again.

Came by for a light lunch. Showed up without reservation, which was not a problem. The concept is really cool. You go up to the counter and choose your fish like a market, it then all gets weighed and priced up. Then you swing by the sushi bar and pick up any sushi you would like to enjoy while your fish is grilled. We had the salmon roses which were delightful. The fish was also fantastic. I particularly loved the butter fish which was succulent and tasty. The sides are good - we had the chips and veggies. For desert we had the malva pudding. It was my first time trying it and I have to say I loved it. The prices are very reasonable and I would say incredibly good value for what you get. If you sit by the window you also get an incredibly good view of lions head. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Ronier Zalnieriunas — Google review
If you love seafood this is a MUST visit. Fishmonger style counter where you select what fish, seafood you want in your skillet. Each piece is weighed and you are charged for what you have. There is a sushi train for whilst you wait. The tempura prawns are out of this world. Scallops were phenomenal. As we're the Langostines. First time trying butter fish and it was divine.
Gemma Legrand — Google review
My friends and I were visiting Cape Town and a local recommended this place - it did not disappoint! The seafood was so fresh. You get to custom pick different types of fish and can tailor your portion sizes based on your group size. It also comes with sides of rice, veggies and sauces. Our waiter was super knowledgable and walked us through each stage of the dining experience. Service was great and food was so yummy! Between the 3 of us, the food was plenty and we left happy :)

Hands down the BEST sushi restaurant in the whole of Cape Town! My husband and I have frequently popped in at The Codfather after a day at the beach and have always been able to sit down at the conveyor belt immediately. We love how their sushi offerings are always fresh and that there's an interesting choice of plates to pick from. Their service has also always been top class.
Lee-Anne Curtis-Cox — Google review
This restaurant offers you a great variety of fresh fish and seafood. You choose what you like and then you get it grilled. Staff knows how to cook fish and keeps its own original taste. I was also sure I don’t like calamari, but I’ve tried them at this restaurant... and I like calamari very much!!! Highly recommended. Best seafood in Camps Bay in my opinion - I’ve lived there for a month and tried all the restaurants. The place gets very busy in the evening so make sure you made a reservation.
Svetlana R — Google review
Had some calamari, scallops, and sushi for starters, and grilled kingklip and prawns as mains. The seafood is fresh, I especially enjoyed the scallops (not pictured). It’s prepared quite simply but the natural flavors come through. Really enjoyed the desserts too! There is no written menu so the servers will explain what’s available and how it works. Service was great and the restaurant gets a lovely view of the sunset as well!
Rachel T — Google review
Lovely restaurant with a wide range of seafood and sushi. Staff really friendly and there's a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Staff knew we were on our honeymoon and offered us a complimentary glass of wine on arrival. More of a casual place to eat out. We were recommended this restaurant by a few different people, it's a popular choice. The scallops were incredible, I recommend ordering some of them!
Lizzie Nicholls — Google review
We had such a lovely experience while dining here. Drinks- we order a bottle of white for the table and it was light and refreshing. Food- such a creative setup.first, you can order from the rotating sushi bar. It was so fresh. Then she brought us to the fish counter to choose our offering. We shared many fish options and it came with chips, veggies, and rice for the table. To finish it off, the additional sauces really made the meal. The fish was simply grilled and presented with all its glory. Service- everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional, and helpful. Special shout-out to kiylah, Micheal, and Lucy for taking such good care of us. Location-2nd floor so great for viewing the street and seating options are tight but comfortable. Vibe-casual and simple decor
Sharlene Simon — Google review
Food was divine - fishmonger counter where the staff walk you through each fish, you pay by the weight of the fish you choose and get chips, rice and veg with your choices! You get up and choose sushi from a conveyor belt (colour of plate = cost). All fish is super fresh and delicious with a choice of sauces! Also a very extensive wine list. I went by myself and felt very welcome to take my time
Jasmin Steel — Google review
A must visit if staying in camps bay. The service was excellent and really welcoming. Sushi to begin with was 1st class and would happily have had that for the entire meal, had the mains not looked so good. The fish counter varies day to day depending on what's in season etc. We went for the most amazing langoustines, swordfish & calamari all cooked in Cajun spices. An incredible meal. Would highly recommend.
David Rees — Google review
This place was a bit chaotic and busy when we went, but if you’re looking for fresh seafood that you can select by weight then hit this place up. We were seated at the conveyor belt sushi, which was cramped and not ideal for the big platters, tray, and sauces that are served with the fish. The process was a bit confusing at first because there is no menu: you’re brought over to the fish counter where you order the fish by weight (with help and guidance from the waiter), you are shown the total price (and can make adjustments if you’d like), and then they cook it up and bring it to your table with rice, fries, and sautéed vegetables. It all tasted pretty good, and I’d say if you’re looking for a seafood dinner and have a big appetite, this could be a great choice. The service was a bit disorderly and if I were to go back it wouldn’t be during a busy period.
Tom Zeien — Google review
Before i came to CPT. I googled about this restaurant and i noticed this food is seems like similar to back home which is. They know how to grill the food properly. Especially, the shrimp and the fish Oh wait. I forgo the sushi… it was on point

excellent seafood restaurant. I advise you to book a table in advance. we came without a reservation, and thanks to the staff for seating us in the wine cellar (there are only 3 tables and much quieter than in the common room), the price tag is above average, but we enjoyed the food. for 2 people we spent R2000
Anzhelika Petrova — Google review
One of the Codfather restaurants in SA. In this location they do not have a menu card, one selects the fish from the counter and you pay the weight price. Fish is then served with some vegetables, rice and fries. They provide also a Sushi bar. Overall good and delicious, service is also great. The atmosphere is a little bit crowdy.
Hafid H — Google review
Amazing service, food and wine. No menu, fish is freshly picked and prepared for you. The rotating sushi bar is also amazing. Highly recommend and can't wait to visit again next time I'm in Cape Town

First of all our waiter Jabulani was amazing! He was friendly, funny, knowledgeable on the steak and the menu and made us feel at home! The steak was cooked perfectly and delicious and I would return here in a heart beat! The staff really are amazing the waiters and managers make everything so comfortable while the chefs really know what they are doing! The waiters & manager even dealt with a difficult/fussy eater/customer with patience and ease, better than I would have! All in all I really recommend this place if you want a delicious & memorable meal!

Excellent food as always. The Hussar Grill is always a go-to for any special occasion, and never disappoints. Portia was amazing, she took care of us during the evening. I had the bone marrow for a starters which was delicious! Only wished there was more marrow on the bones. For mains, I had the Bone Marrow rump steak with mushroom sauce and potato fries + onion rings on the side. This was sublime! For dessert I had the Death By Chocolate which was delicious as well. We will definitely return.
Lize-Mari Lubbe — Google review
This was possibly the best steak I’ve ever had!!! Had the chicken livers as a starter (yum!) a Moscow mule (very well made) and the steak that absolutely stole my heart. So sad I only discovered this place on my last day because otherwise I’d have gone more than once! Big shoutout to Sun who was a phenomenal waiter - his attention to detail was unparalleled and he really ran the show!

One of the very best steak houses I have ever been to. Staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were reasonable, especially given the UK to SA exchange rate. The steak was cooked perfectly the way I liked it. Came with delicious prawns. Had a mussels starter which was also excellent. Hard to fault as everything was pitch perfect. The restaurant itself has a great vibe to it; dark woods, books on shelves, wine bottles, and attentive staff. Loved it! So good in fact that we are visiting Hussar in George today for lunch.
Themevify — Google review
You will be surprise by the north american steakhouse vibe once you entered and will never be disappointed when you eat at this restaurant chain. We ate a few times at the Hussars during our trip and the meat was always phenomenal. They also present you the 'Cuts of the day's like tomahawk or Kuda. By far the best meat I have eaten in Camp's Bay. A must for business, family or romantic diner.

Lovely place to wine and dine in Camps Bay with family. Wide selection on the menu and the service is top notch. Restaurant is clean and neat, the ambience is welcoming and the stuff is very friendly. We enjoyed our time there even with our 2 month old. Would recommend to everyone, plus booking is essential during peak season to avoid disappointment.

Had the best steak there! Also the snails as starter and the malva pudding were excellent. Three bottles of fantastic South African red wine and it was a perfect dinner for us. The service was friendly, fast and very coordinated. Couldn’t have been any better and I would love to go there any time again.

Staff were so friendly! Food was so delicious, the cost of the meal we had would have been over double in the UK easy! Fillet steak was 10/10!

The food was great, the atmosphere is amazing. The menu is very affordable. It was quite disappointing that we sat there close to 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. We had to go back to the nice lady at the door to ask if we could get assistance. It was really not nice.
Chidochashe Maposa — Google review
Great meat, great wine & great staff! We definitely recommend the house wine (much cheaper than other options and yet delicious!). We had the ostrich fillet and the sirloin on the bone. Both options were absolutely tasty.

Arrived without reservations...but the restaurant staff placed us at the bar...and the service was AMAZING...EXCEPTIONAL!!! Service,Food, staff, atmosphere... a 5/5 star is an understatement.... 10/10 is well deserved. Even received a complimentary "choctail" which was a sweetener from the staff. Made our evening spectacular. Thank you Hussar Grill!

One of the best places to enjoy a delicious steak in Cape Town was. I savoured a mouthwatering ribeye steak that truly stood out as one of the best I've ever had. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Wade, who served me, was an outstanding individual. He not only provided valuable recommendations but also assisted me in pouring the sauce in a video, which was a thoughtful touch. Additionally, he shared some fantastic suggestions for places to visit in Cape Town.

I would like to start off my review by saying that i felt obligated to write it immediately after i left and that i wasn’t even that hungry nor was i under the influence of alcohol. We were a party of 2 and we ordered 2 Ribeye steaks and 1 game steak (Kudu). All were cooked to medium. This is the only steak that i have eaten that i can truly describe as mouthwatering! By far the best steak that i have ever tasted and i have tasted many. Desserts were delicious. staff were welcoming and pleasant. The service was fast even though the place was packed. The overall atmosphere was nice. Prices were very reasonable considering the high quality of everything. I wholeheartedly recommend dining here.

Five stars are not enough for this restaurant. Excellent customer service starting from the welcoming drinks reception passing through the presentation of all different types of meat that are available at the menu and ending with the fact that the chef comes to say hello at end of our dinner. The meat and preparation is top quality. I can recommend house specials. For desert definitely take the malva pudding and Don Pedro special drink.
Gabriela Bakalova — Google review
One of the best places I have ever experienced in Cape Town. Service is perfect and especially Jethro ( who is taking care with us) is very friendly person, we let him to lead us, and his choices was perfect. Their meat is perfect, one of the best I have ever tasted. After meal, I recommend to finish with their special dessert.
Gürkan Yılmaz — Google review
Enjoyed the food, especially then Sirloin and the Ostrich fillet. Wine selection was huge and nice. The waiter was very friendly and service minded. The creamed spinach was not so creamy, that could be better. Overall a very good experience.

It’s one of our Cape Town favorites! The staff is extraordinarily friendly and lovely, especially Franc and the fun waitresses-good vibes only!! Besides that the food is amazing with very reasonable prices. Steak, cajun salad and Don Pedro are a must try-so good! Additionally enjoy a tasty chocolate vodka martini at the end of your dinner. Hussar grill should definitely be on your bucket list when in Camps Bay/ Cape Town!!

If you are looking for a place to satisfy your carnivorous cravings, look no further than Hussar Grill, a restaurant that offers incredibly good steaks and very friendly staff. The staff are so friendly, you will feel like you are part of their family, or at least their favorite customer. The restaurant has a cozy and elegant ambiance, with a touch of history and tradition. The Hussar Grill is the ultimate destination for steak lovers and meat enthusiasts.

Now this is what I call LUXURY! I went here recently, and I was just impressed. This is what I call fine dining! We went for the Tuesday special, and 2 courses for R550. I got a steak and a crème brûlée, which both blew my mind out the gutter! The quality of the food was astonishing. The view to the ocean was also pleasurable in many aspects. I only minus 1 star from atmosphere as it was very hot in the restaurant. Our waiter was also pleasant, with a humorous personality. Thank you Hussar Grill Camps Bay for an amazing experience.

If you're looking for a delicious, beachside meal with great views, then head to Paranga restaurant. With international dishes and a terrace overlooking the ocean, this spot is perfect for a relaxing evening out.
Great place to enjoy the best of Camp's Bay. Filet is amazing as well as sushis. Perfect view on the sunset and heaters all over the covered terrasse keeps you warm even when chilly outside. Service is good and the meat was perfectly cooked.

I visited Paranga with a friend for lunch. We ordered a “simple” steak with a side of fries and was really, really impressed with the standard of the food. The meal was cooked to perfection and super tasty. I’ll definitely be back wanting to try their other meals! The margaritas was deliciously prepared! We also ordered desserts - amazing! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely. It was the perfect setting for a weekday lunch with a friend. And of course the views over the ocean is priceless! I’ll be back for more ❤️

Really nice view and great service. Overall both food and drinks were good, but the burger wasn’t anything special.
Anne Jensen — Google review
The place is in a great location and our server was really attentive and friendly. We enjoyed some wine here and also decided to stick around for dinner. Although I was thankful they offered a vegetarian entree, it was a bit heavy on the salty soy sauce side. The mussels were delicious, but they left me not feeling very well the next morning. I would definitely come back here to enjoy their terrace and drinks.

Enjoying some Out and About moments after being on lockdown for a while was very refreshing and good to mental well-being. Paranga sets the mood for the evening's dinner hop, good aroma in the air, good soft music in the background was the perfect setting as a remembrance of the dinner dates and restaurant hopping we used to have before the hard lockdown. If you going for a dinner date, Paranga is a must!

Excellent beverages and food, lovely views. A little pricey, but that's to be expected in Camps Bay. The cocktails are delicious and the wine-by-the-glass options are quite good. The seared tuna sashimi on a fried tortilla with avocado and jalapeño was one of the best things I've eaten in some time. It's a lovely, comfortable spot to relax in Camps Bay, and we really enjoyed our visit.

The food was good. Sushi was well prepared and tasty. The sourdough bread was excellent and warm and came with butter👍. Evelyne was lovely, service in general was good. The location is a mix bag. While you have a view of the beach the road in front can be busy and noisy. It was not particularly busy when we had lunch which was nice but obviously reduced the atmosphere. Good choice of music at a good level.

My husband, mother, two aunts, and I stopped for a seaside lunch here. When arrived right at 12pm when they opened. The waitstaff seemed as though they were not quite ready for guests. Our waiter was very serious and not terribly warm. We also had to remind him on multiple occasions to bring things we requested and had to repeat orders as he did not get them the first time. He also made a point of asking us if we would be tipping at the end. We are American from the SF Bay Area and tip even when not customary or service isn’t up to par but I was definitely put off by him openly asking us if we planned to tip. The interior designs are lovely and as the restaurant quickly filled it became quite vibrant with energy. Unfortunately the tables are a little too close together in the front deck area which makes it challenging to get into your table without disturbing your neighbors. The food was solid but lacked much variety for a vegetarian. I ended up putting a few side dishes together to form a meal. The sushi that was ordered by other members at the table was well received but the oysters were very small, over priced, and not as good as other places in Cape Town. My husband ordered the burger in addition to sushi and oysters and found that the meat lacked flavor and needed more seasoning. Portion sizes were adequate for all dishes but nothing was so special that we would visit again. And yes we tipped 20% but I wouldn’t say anyone besides the kitchen staff earned it.

Café Caprice is a popular all-day cafe located in the heart of Camps Bay sunset strip, with eclectic menu and cocktails. It enjoys a cool laid-back vibe with stunning beach views and an impressive selection of artisanal cocktails. Open for lunch and dinner, it is one of Cape Towns most highly regarded outdoor restaurants.
Prob the best view in Camps Bay for breakfast lunch. We ordered the avo on toast and French toast with bacon. Very good and original. Loved it. If you want great seating come before the rush because they get packed fast. Service was great and the drinks here are good too. Def recommended to come here. If you wonder where this place is, just look for the Mask on the beach and the hanging heart between 2 trees.

The waiters was super helpful and professional. The restaurant has a beautiful look and gives the beach breakfast vibe.

Lovely vibey spot with street view over Camps Bay. Friday night is 50% off bubbly which is fantastic. We tasted the sushi (salmon roses) which was delicious & not overladen with mayo or rice. The seafood board was generous & delicious. Service was initially very attentive, but as it got busier we struggled to gain attention. Overall a great experience

Always a lovely stop for a cocktail, the service was great but I think will be better if they work together rather than just focusing on their own tables. Good selection of drinks but you have to do a cocktail at least to start with. Views are great as it’s the beach strip view in a popular Cape Town beach front.

Absolutely five star experience, amazing hospitality, great food and such a cool atmosphere. Had the best lunch date with my best friend who recently got engaged! Perfect location with amazing views. Pleasant ambiance. Great service, our waiter was delightful and we did not wait long for our food. The food was delectable...the ribs I had were falling off the bone and beautifully seasoned. My company was also raving about their food. Unfortunately didn't get to try the dessert menu because of time constraints (on our side)... Looking forward to that on the next visit! Did I mention how clean the place was?! Beautiful area and pleasant atmosphere across from the beach. Visited with a group of 40+, so advanced menu was provided. Drinks were on point!! Food was very well seasoned, only change would be to have had my steak medium well and a little steak sauce.

We had the Grilled Chicken Skewer and the Sirloin of Beef bot delightful and not too heavy. The orders came through in a timely manner and the staff were friendly and very attentive. Nice semi Casual place for a date. Definitely worth a revisit.

Excellent service. Food was devine. But it was pricey. But still worth it. The venue is amazing and the view to die for looking out over Camps Bay

We’ve experienced a very pleasant dinner in Bilboa, right before sunset. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is great and the menu offers a lot of different food choices. I’ve had the baby squid as a starter and that was a true highlight. Perfect mix of fresh ingredients served delightful on the plate. Thank you

The place is great! Great set up with an amazing ocean view! The food is amazing! I had a seafood platter for 1. It is slightly expensive but definitely worth the price! Worth checking them out!

I will certainly be returning to this restaurant, welcoming kind staff, the virgin strawberry daiquiri was delicious, seafood fresh and delicious. Was overall happy with every meal! Beautiful view is the cherry on top...

Beautiful location with a sea view and superb food. We went to Bilboa since it was recommened to us by locals and it did not disappoint. The asparagus hummus was extremely delicious and something I have never had somewhere else. The filet was simply amazing. Service was good, too. All in all we have had an awesome night. In fact we enjoyed the food so much that we came back a couple of days later. 5/5!

One of the best fine-dinning spots in Camps Bay. Food was delicious, drinks were good and service was even better!

What a beautiful and wonderful place. Great service and good food. Waiter was on hand all the time. Can’t remember his name but said he was a Man City fan 😁 sat watching the sun go down and the waves crashing.

We had a delicious lunch sitting in front of Sandy bay beach. The starters were absolutely delicious, crispy shrimps and felafel cooked to perfection, very good also the sea bass and the tuna.Sibyl, our gentle waitress suggested us an excellent wine we didn't know. A place to recommend

Amazing service, serene atmosphere, great views and the food was definitely something to.write home about. The salad 🥗 was to die for, would order it over and over (please give me the salad dressing recipe lol) the prawn flavour was also phenomenal and the taste was unconventional. A must to visit this restaurant

I don’t think it’s fair to call this restaurant a “tourist trap.” The food is priced higher because of location, view and upscale ambience. (Water is 65 ZAR per liter…) It’s a hotel restaurant. So you’ll find many tourists with purchasing power. My fish was cooked and seasoned well, with the flavors it promised, though plating is very basic on everything I saw come out of the kitchen. In short, experience is more elevated than the food, but it’s far from a bad meal.

Delicious food. The seafood was amazing. Great cocktails and a perfect setting to watch the sun set over the beach. The staff were excellent.

I had great expectations for this place, but it didn't deliver on this occasion. I would say that the location is great, assuming the weather is good, if not there is no view to appreciate. Staff are friendly and competent, however, our food did take a fairly long time to be served, When the food did eventually arrive, it was ok, unfortunately nothing special. Maybe our expectations were too high, having eaten at Babel and Le Coin, etc. As an example, the grilled calamari was no better than Ocean Basket at the V&A. Chicken salad was pretty dry and just average. Anyway, try for yourself and see what you think.
