Rawacou Recreational Park

Mentioned on
Park
Rawacou Recreational Park is located near the new Argyle International Airport and boasts two stunning beaches with black sand and high waves. The area around the salt pond is devoid of trees, providing no protection from the sun, but the pond itself offers an exciting view of massive waves crashing against rocks. The pool inside the park is perfect for both children and adults, as it has varying depths.
The facilities are clean, however we've never had much use for them. There is no protection from the sun around the area where the salt pond is as there are no trees. The pond has so much life as you can get to see the massive waves rolling towards you, then hit the rocks and trickle in. The water inside the pool is perfect height for little ones and a bit deeper off to the far end for adults ( just over the waist for someone tall). My baby loves it, we love it. It's definitely worth visiting... we will be regulars

Beautiful views and scenic atmosphere. Lovely space for relaxation and shallow waters
Ornellia Cole — Google review
Was not as shallow as in the past. Monday great day to go. We had the place to ourselves.
Hannah Floyd — Google review
Popular salt pool created by putting boulders in a large semicircle which allows the sea to wash over, filling the pool. Children especially enjoyed the shallow water which had a life guard. Not too much sea moss either. Unfortunately the changing rooms had been vandalized but overall a lovely setting for picnics and cook-ups. No café facilities though.
Helena Cook — Google review
Very beautiful and breezy. The pool is protected from the bigger waves and has some very shallow areas. Perfect for sea bath if you have children with you. It's also a popular spot for baptisms.
GothiQ haQer — Google review
The view is great and its nice and breezy next to the Atlantic coast. There are gazebo to sit and relax .The pond is a mosty shallow with some small areas where u can swim. There is an entrance fee.
Ben Cham — Google review
Nice and relaxing atmosphere. A gentle constant breeze awaits you and while the sea water is rough and you are not encouraged to bathe in it, there is the lovely pond (enclosed sea water) that you may not want to leave one you take your first dip.

Fort Duvernette

Mentioned on
Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Fort Duvernette is a historic fortress built on a large volcanic rock offshore Villa. Its main purpose was to protect the town of Calliaqua and provides panoramic views of the southern coastline. The spiral staircase leading to the top has 225 steps carved into the rock, but it can be slippery due to small stones that often cover the walkway, so appropriate footwear is necessary.
First time travelled home to St Vincent after 12 years and this was a site to see. The waters were beautiful, the breeze was cool and made for a good hike up the stairs to the top. I'll recommend this play to anyone who travels to St Vincent. Great history behind it as well
Teash Prince — Google review
What a gorgeous place! A fun hike to the top but the best views are on the stairs along the way. You can see a gorgeous view of Young Island plus the mainland. Ask around at the Young Island docks for someone to drop you off and pick you up—Sparrow took us. For two people it should be about 30 EC. You can also jump off the little dock and into the clear blue water. Just a beautiful little island and a delightful experience.
Mark Stern — Google review
This is such a beautiful place to see. It is worth hiring a water taxi, where you go past Young Island. It is a steep climb, but the view is absolutely wonderful.
Alex Kennedy — Google review
Visit Fort duvernette for stunning views and the sunset. Not a hard climb up. Needs a taxi boat which can be hired
Gizem Y — Google review
Fort Duvernette has beautiful views of St. Vincent and its surroundings. The hike is steep and lasts about 8-10 mins. There are some stops as you get closer to the summit, where you can take excellent pictures. The boat ride to the fort is one of the best experiences 👌
Tya Gonsalves — Google review
Easy to get water taxi to island, awesome views and history
Dan McKenzie — Google review
It’s an easy hop over by boat, probably 10 minutes. The water taxi will drop you off and come back to get you when you want. There are a lot stairs to get to the top but if you’re in decent shape it’ll be no problem. The view is definitely worth it. If you have someone in your group that can’t do stairs bring them anyway, there’s a great place to sit at the bottom and hang out. It’d be a great picnic spot too. Outstanding view. Also, bring your snorkel and mask, great snorkeling.

Cool experience going up this fort. New prepared for 255 stairs that are inconsistent is size and depth. It could use a bit more maintenance but in all worth the wonderful views. You can ask the front desk at Blue Lagoon for a shirt ferry ride over.
Jennessa Piccirilli — Google review
Great views of St. Vincent. Easy but long walk up windy stairs to the viewing deck. Need to access by boat, but if you're adventurous you can swim over from the west side of young island

Very easy hike with excellent views! Found a local fare to take us to the island m quick climb and the effort is very much worth it. Cool thing to do while you're in town!

Montreal Gardens

Garden
Nature & Parks
Montreal Gardens, located atop a valley above Mesopotamia in St. Vincent, are considered superior to the more famous botanical gardens in Kingstown. Nestled among craggy mountains and rolling hills, these gardens are a strikingly beautiful and colorful display of flora and fauna that is accompanied by the sweet sounds of birds chirping throughout. A concrete trail winds its way throughout the garden, offering visitors an opportunity to enjoy various kinds of flowers and plants for approximately 45 minutes.
100% worth the drive up there! We couldn’t believe how beautiful these gardens were! Flowers everywhere you look and little trails take you all around, including down by a small creek. Extremely serene and peaceful. Very polite caretakers as well who are happy to tell you about the history. Cost is just 5ecd per person and well worth it!!

This place is amazing! We were guided through the lower paths down to the river. Super lush and amazing photo opps

Fabulous gardens in an amazing setting. Worth the effort of getting there. Just remember it's closed at the weekend, you don't want to go all that way to be disappointed.

A must see destination to explore if you're visiting St. Vincent! Tim has designed a spectacular and layered botanical oasis with stunning colours to capture as part of your Caribbean memories. If you're interested in bird watching, a photographer, artist, looking for a wedding/family reunion location, or just looking for a fun route to ride a motorcycle, make time to visit the Montreal Gardens!
Mary Curtain — Google review
It's still a wonderful place after over 20 years. Public road could use some attention though!
Andy — Google review
We had an excellent day trip here. Bring literally everything you need, no facilities apart from toilets. We were back packing so the usd150 taxi we were quoted was out of the question. Head to Little Tokyo and get yourself a bus to Richland Park. Cost EC5 each and the driver took us a little further up the mountain for another 20EC, not far but gained a decent amount of height. From the drop off another 20min walk on very broken roads gets you to the gardens. The immediate calm was palpable, the garden borrows from the surrounding landscape which is just epic. We spent a good couple of hours and had lunch in one of the covered areas. Plenty of botanical diversity packed in with borders frothing with exotic flowers, plenty of lizards and a few hummingbirds. There were a few mosquitos that found us when we stopped for lunch but we didn't get bitten despite forgetting our deet. Make sure you find the hidden garden!
Aaron Corp — Google review
It was calming. Being immersed in lush organized flora allowed me to appreciate the beauty of planet earth again. I loved the concrete trail that took us all throughout the garden allowing us to enjoy the many varieties of flowers and plants for the 45 minutes it took us to cover! Make a visit, it definitely worth it! The photos posted are around the parking area. I forgot to take pics along the trail. I'll allow you the surprise!
Anthony — Google review
Hidden up in the mountain rainforest this garden was both beautiful and fun. Many different paths to explore and cool, almost chilly, weather. Keep an eye out for hummingbirds as we saw nearly 10 during our visit. Fruit trees are abundant and flowers in every direction! Only downside was the lack of information given on what we were looking at (no map or names of trees) but the peace and beauty were undeniable
Abe Gobel — Google review
Really pretty garden with a wide variety of plants which attract many species of birds. The plants are densely planted and the narrow pathways through the garden give it an enchanted feel.
Ajhermae White — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous. As a floral lover, it was like being at home flowers heaven. Such a large variety of beautiful and brightly colored flowers to behold. This garden is absolutely beautiful and amazing. I might be a little bias because I love flora and fauna so much but ilthis garden is amazing. The vision of nature here is breathtaking.

The Botanical Gardens is a 20-acre park that was established in 1765 and is home to indigenous trees, shrubs, and wildlife like the St. Vincent parrot. It's a must-see destination in St. Vincent with reasonable admission fees and well-maintained grounds showcasing an array of plant varieties and tree species. Guides are available to take visitors through the gardens, providing insights into traditional medicinal uses of different plants as well as their contemporary applications.
Nice garden, very nice mixture of several plants and trees. Well made and clean kept garden. Special is the clear visibility of all plants and trees, even they are available at free nature on several islands. But nevertheless it's worth the visit
Christoph Kolodziej — Google review
There is nothing too special about the place itself. Not much as an attraction for visitors like myself who comes from a tropical country. But for the Brits or any other European, maybe worthy going. Here are some pictures from the St Vincent.

Wow what a garden! This was part of the scenic tour which was really great, local knowledge was spot on and I’ve now got some great herbal recipes for all sorts of ailments 🤓thank you also to our guide in the library and to the gardeners who were kind enough to take a break whilst our wonderful tour guide shared lots of information about the plants. Max thanks for all the photo opportunities too, great driving on those narrow roads🙏

The oldest Botanical Gardens in the Western Hemisphere (established in 1765) It is also home to the St Vincent parrot Amazona guildingii) and other rare trees. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. You can truly feel at peace when there.

A must-see while in St. Vincent. The cost is very reasonable to visit this place and it is immaculate. The grounds are so well kept. There are so many varieties of plants and species of trees that it really is a benefit to have a guide walk you through the gardens ( offered when you arrive). The guides are very passionate about the park and all the plants in there and explain traditional medicinal uses for the trees and what they are used for today. It was a very enjoyable and memorable visit.
Roland Bitzer — Google review
A lovely garden with many old and historic trees. There weren't many signs so the tour guide was well worth the investment. Don't forget to see the Vincy parrot!
Kim Murphy — Google review
A beautiful garden! Be prepared to do some light walking with a few inclines. This is a great place to bring your entire family and it's wheelchair accessible. You will need a tour guide if you want to learn more about the flora.

Trevor Proulx — Google review
Did the guided tour. Nigel was a wealth of knowledge. Learned so much about the island and it's flora!
Eugene Stephens — Google review
Nice gardens but watch the clock! Really nice botanical garden and very well priced at 2$. You pay the entry fee at the entrance where you can choose to also book a guide who costs 4$ per person for an hour. We enjoyed our tour and the guide knew a lot about the plants. When we told our guide that we needed to finish up to catch our taxi he seemed to be taken a little off guard and tried to keep us a little longer. At the end we wanted to pay our 4$ a person when he said we would have to pay 6$ now as we went over the hour. We went over barely 5 minutes and he was the one pushing for this so we didn’t appreciate that cost increase. We wouldn’t have minded to stay a little longer and pay more if he had asked but this way we all left with a sour taste to this otherwise nice experience. Would recommend but stand firm on your hour if you want to keep it at the 4$.

Beautiful garden with a diversity of tropical trees. Much better experience when you have a guide that explains all the things you see. You can lay down there, get a picnic, read, etc. Really peaceful and quiet. To see the parrots was also super nice. $2usd/person, super cheap for what it is.
Ghislaine Niyonkuru — Google review
The front desk staff member demonstrated uncourteous and unreasonable behaviour to our driver who was a local. He requested to use the washroom and she denied him entrance and insist that he pay $5 entrance fee. We were so uncomfortable so we did not enjoy or visit

Located on Princess Margaret Beach in Saint Vincent, Jacks Beach Bar is the ideal destination for an open-air lunch, a delightful happy hour on the terrace, or both. It also serves as a great dinner option; however, accessing it from land can be a bit challenging due to numerous stairs and rough terrain that becomes even more difficult to navigate during nighttime. No matter when you choose to visit, anticipate delectable dishes crafted with local ingredients and infused with international flavors.
The view of Young Island from this restaurant is just lovely. This restaurant affords an ideal place from which to see the Island. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, as was the beef roti. The portions were a decent size. The beef roti was tasty and I recommend it. The area outside is really nice because of the view and it is great to watch people from the hotel go for a swim. There were many lovely items on the menu, making it difficult to select a meal. The members of staff are really friendly and attentive. On our second visit, I had the tuna, which was delicious. The drinks menu is diverse and there is a great variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Update as of 23Jan23. I'm not sure what happened from the last time I was here to now. The food wasn't as good and the service was very indifferent. I could feel a difference of treatment this time from last time. All customers should be treated the same regardless of whether you are a local or foreign. Please return the standards of islander home welcoming. I will be back in the future, but until then this is my review. Let me tell you. This restaurant is top of the line. Everything that I ordered here has been top tier. I plan on coming again in the future and if you haven't come here yet then I recommend you come out of your way to come here. The staff was very professional, the prices of the food and drinks are very fair, and the food was freshly made everytime and freshly served. I can only speak nothing but wonders about this restaurant. Everyone here has a beautiful soul and I wish nothing but blessings upon the restaurant. Also, the restaurant is apart of the hotel and also it's own separate thing as well. As in you do not have to stay at the hotel in order to order at this fine establishment. Once again team. I thank you guys for making my trip here that much sweeter. Until next time.

We had a beautiful dinner at sunset. I enjoyed the Fish pizza that was ordered. Very tasty! The views there are outstanding, overlooking young island. The waitress was very attentive and accommodating. Thanks for an amazing experience!
Alexandra Desrouilleres — Google review
The main attraction to this location is that it’s ocean side, so there’s a lovely view while you dine. The drinks were average, the Meat-lovers pasta (a penne carbonara?) was great too, and the burger that I had was absolutely wonderful - very well seasoned. Though, I was surprised that I wasn’t asked how I would like my meat prepared. I asked for cheese to be added and had to literally tear the burger down the middle to find said cheese. I thought it was absent and told my server who was respectful and apologized. After which, management (a lady), came over and insisted that cheese was added by the chef. After having to massacre the burger and complete an inspection with her hovering, the cheese was found. If it’s a cheeseburger, I shouldn’t have to complete a dissection and a hunt to find it. Other than that mishap, the experience was good, as it usually is.

Great spot for lunch & dinner. Beautiful views & live music on saturday night. Service is quick, staff is friendly & food is delish. Chicken Roti, snapper fajita, split pea soup & fried chicken sandwich are all great! Highly recommend.

My mother's day lunch was a diaster. First I ordered shrimp only kebabs and they brought steak and shrimp 😱😱 The crème brûlée was like soup, yucky. No apologies what so ever. The local breakfast the doughboy needs plenty improvement it's just a sweet roll not local at all like before it was something I looked forward to but but but ,the salt fish was good though. The felly belly was awesome would definitely have that again . Looks like that's the only thing I can have there now. My stay at Mariners Hotel was fantastic!! Love it ♥️♥️

Been hearing of this place for a long time and decided to check it out today. Unfortunately being a foodie don't have a positive review for today. The pork chops did not taste fresh. Tasted like they had been microwaved and some gravy put on top. For the price I expected better. All the same there is room for improvement. General overview - nice place for an eat out especially in the evenings because it's located right next to the ocean for that evening breeze. Nothing strickigly amazing about the surrounding. I would give a 4/10 to customer service. Over priced.

Visitors have praised the scenic location and the quality of food, particularly highlighting the Calypso chicken and Sunday BBQ as excellent choices. While some experienced slower service during breakfast, others found the service to be pleasant and efficient. The outdoor atmosphere with a view makes it an ideal spot for a relaxing meal or to unwind while enjoying Caribbean music and sunsets.

I've been waiting to try this cafe out for quite some while now. Finally I've come and I wasn't very pleased. There were no bakes to come with the breakfast, but toast was offered as a replacement. I wasn't a fan of the toast. The codfish pairs well with bakes or doughboy. The coffee was decent. The codfish was great. The staff were really chill and laid back. The location is gorgeous. I love the ocean and the waves. There couldn't be any good of a location.

Great spot to sit with a nice view of the marina. We had been looking forward to coming here and ordered 2 drinks from the waitress... and after 45min, they still never came. So finally we got up and walked away.... not sure what happened there but we got a little afraid to order a meal if the drinks don't show up in 3/4 of an hour. Maybe they just had an odd day...

Amazing food and views. The staff is SUPER laid back. The bar offers an excellent selection of drinks and cocktails at reasonable prices, although some customers felt that the music could be played louder.
If you are looking for a total beach vibe Caribbean bar with a sunset... this is your place. Sand in your toes or sit on the deck...very basic surroundings but a great selection of drinks and cocktails. We didn't eat here but the kitchen looked busy with lots of orders. One of the best places I've ever been so far, ambience is not what u expect looking from outside. Once we came in, me and my wife, we got surprised by the atmosphere, having everything we've look for after a while in the French Caribbean, the wine list is not extense, but is precise, menu is a little bit too much too see for me, but the food that came was hot and way more delicious than anything we've seen so far. Service was OK, but in comparison with what we've seeing around these waters, that's the best place to come. Congratulations and keep it up!

Flow Wine Bar was a very pleasant surprise! The food, menu and portion sizes were excellent. At street level in Kingstown as you approach the stairs you are not sure of what awaits you but we are SO pleased we visited Flow and were greeted by nice relaxed furnishings and cool temperature (has ceiling fans and AC) I was spoilt for choice on both my starters and main course - so many options. 😊 My wife went for a starter of coconut shrimp. She said (and I agree) that it was the best we have had since we were in Miami a few years back. I had an intriguing starter of prawns, spicy sausage and toasted almonds - it was amazing and so well presented. I wish I had taken a picture… We have been in St Vincent for two weeks and this is the best food we have had. Wish we had found it earlier! Thank you for your service and also being patient with us as our taxi was late in picking us up. Staff stayed with us even though they were officially closed. 🙏🏾

One of the most consistently good restaurants in St.Vincent. I tried one of my favourites (the wontons with pistachio and cream cheese) for the first time in many years and it still tastes exactly the same. The menu is varied and the wine selection is HUGE! And if wine isn’t your thing, there’s the option of local and craft beers, and also ciders. There’s honestly something for everyone. Would absolutely recommend and return!

I must say this is an absolutely beautiful place. The food however doesn’t have any taste the chicken is dry with no sauce or any kind juice.

Personally, I am not easily impressed, but my first experience at this place was legit on point. Even before that, I had heard only good things. In my bias though, I reserved judgement, and had no real expectations. In the end, I thought that the spot was cool, the prices were decent and the food exceeded expectations. That pepper crusted beef salad was … 🤌🏾

We “taxied” to Flow on a Saturday night expecting, from the reviews, a great atmosphere & food. We got there about 7.45 pm & it was empty except for a family group of about 6 and a couple of people at the bar. The bartender could not find the wine I selected and I settled on something else. We were also told that if we ordered food it would take an hour (apparently because there were a lot of take out orders). The bartenders were not very talkative. We has an interesting chat with the man beside us. After 2 drinks he guided us to the nearby taxi stand and we went back to our hotel for dinner. Will not go again and if it had not been for our “new friend” at the bar this bar would get no ⭐️ from us.

If you are ready to wait more than one hour for food this is the place. Ordered “feta cheese and olives” (which they are both in the fridge prepared) one hour later I am still looking at the table :)

Nestled on Princess Margaret Beach, Basil's Beach Bar offers an idyllic setting for enjoying a meal outdoors or relishing in a refreshing drink. With limited accessibility from the land due to steep stairs and rugged terrain, getting there can be challenging after sunset. However, once you arrive, anticipate delectable dishes crafted from local ingredients with an international twist.
The best food we’ve had in St. Vincent! The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door and continued throughout the meal. The breadfruit & salt fish croquettes were amazing. We also enjoyed the conch fritters. For the main course, we had curry chicken, mahi mahi, and the shrimp. Dessert was also great— cheesecake, key lime pie, and victoria sandwich cake.

The food was averaged, wait time was long although we were the only people at that time. The staff was friendly and tried their best to make us feel welcomed. One important note though, it seems like this was a country-wide problem but masks don’t seem mandatory for fully vaccinated employees?

Very friendly services. The vegetables are cooked very well. The location of the bar on the google map is off by about 100m. It is at the same building as The Cobblestone Inn.

We had just a couple of hours for lunch here. I searched online.. found everything and nothing.. went outside and after half an hour of roaming around I found that restaurants showed on Google maps in real is just a some shady fast foods. This was a last attemp before going back to the ship, but surprisingly place looks like a higher class restaurant (slow food) which I preffer. If you want to eat something properly, go here. That's it. Simple. Maybe on wider area you can find something else, but in the city, forget it.

Went for lunch, food was good. Had the bake and shark. Well seasoned and flavorful. My friend had the club sandwich. Simple staples that did the job...

Great little place, ordered the veg rotis and they happen to be vegan which is great. Tasted delicious and didn't take long which we were grateful for as we were very tired. Also tried Hairoun which is a nice local beer.

This review is long overdue! Basil's is a staple in St.Vincent. Their consistency in delivering delicious food and local drinks is top-notch. The customer service from the servers is fantastic. I will always highly recommend visiting Basil's when visiting St.Vincent.
