Port Antonio

Port Antonio is a city on Jamaica’s northeast coast and the capital of Portland Parish. It’s known as a gateway to nearby tropical jungles, mountains and waterfalls. In the John Crow Mountains, Reach Falls flows into a river pool. Near Hope Bay, Somerset Falls flows on the grounds of a former plantation. In the east, the Blue Lagoon is known for its blue waters, fed by the Caribbean Sea and underground springs.

Woody's Low Bridge Place in Port Antonio is a renowned eatery celebrated for its jerk chicken and plantains. This roadside establishment has become an institution in the area, offering dishes starting at 3 units of currency. Another notable dining spot in Port Antonio is High Style Dish Restaurant, which offers a variety of delectable options. One must not miss the opportunity to try their delicious plantain burger, served with hot and perfectly cooked fries.
This is a wonderful restaurant that serves a variety of burger’s including vegetarian options. Also on the menu are jerk and fried chicken burgers. I have eaten here several times and each time my meal was fresh and tasty. I always order my food to go but there is a dining area as well as restrooms. There is limited parking available in front of Woody’s. The owners of this establishment are courteous and professional. I highly recommend Woody’s as a place to get reasonably priced delicious food.

The food is freshly prepared and locally sourced. Great options especially for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. If you want Authentic food from the most wonderful people head straight to Woodys. Love love love this placexxx

So I am a vegetarian & wanted to stop here to try. They make a wonderful veg sandwich not really a burger per say but I sandwich with delicious greens & plantains on top. I enjoyed very much. I also thought the hospitality was extra wonderful. From the chef to the server & the mgr. All 3 individuals were super kind & sincere. I had a delicious juice with no added sugar cane & I truly am grateful for their assistance in providing good healthy food for me to eat. I'll be Back.

Great burgers, served fresh and luckily. The staff (I think his name was Cornelius) was super lovely. This place has been in place since 1984, so is a proper local institution.

If you see this very unassuming hole in the wall on your journey you must stop and try the plantain burger!!! It was delicious and fresh. They fries were hot and just right. The drinks on the other hand was ridiculously overpriced.. my tip is to go across the street and buy from the shop. Friendly service and such a charming hidden gem. I loved it!!!!

Woody's is fantastic. We stayed in Drapers for 2 weeks and visited often; it's a convenient and friendly place to spend an evening. Their full house vegetable burger is amazing, and you have to try their ginger beer which is freshly made and stunning. The staff are extremely friendly.

Had the beef burger loaded with ripe plantain. It was nice and loved the fries as well. Owner was pleasant and polite as usual. We arrived a little before opening and she still accomodated us.

Burger and fries in Jamaican way!! We loved it! It's delicious, fresh and local. People are extremly kind and friendly. This was so far my best meal in Port Antonio area.
Nevena Pache — Google review
It saddens me to have to give this institution in Drapers such a low score. Ordered a full house plantain burger there was hardly any plantain..sliced so thin it was imperceptible and swimming in ketchup. I suppose it wasto hide the microwaved 'beef' patty underneath. Bun reheated in the microwave make its chewy. Our server was lovely guy but couldn't keep off the drink whilst we were there. No atmosphere anymore, one table im the middle of the ronduvel. All of Woody's lovely old photographs should be saved, blown up and framed for everyone to see the history of this place. I hope to be back when things get better.

We popped by as in the area from the UK. Fantastic hosts who welcomed us with excellent potato cake, the meat and the veggie burger are 5*****. Great value and a lovely time. Thank you so much guys!

I visited Anna Banana restaurant based on the recommendation of the hotel manager. Initially hesitant due to its average Google score, I was enticed by the appealing food pictures and decided to give it a try. I was glad that I did as the curry lobster with plantains that I ordered was enjoyable, and other guests seemed to have appetizing dishes as well. If only I had come earlier, I would have tried more of their menu offerings.
Really tasty food and lovely ambiance inside the restaurant. Perfect for eating dinner while watching the sunset by the water. We even saw dolphins while having dinner here!! We ordered the coconut curry fish and garlic lobster. Both were superb! Service was outstanding - the restaurant is run by Lindsay and his daughters - all very hospitable. Would highly recommend as a must visit in Port Antonio. You won’t be disappointed!

We came here because our hotel manager advised us to go. When we saw the 3,9 score on Google we were a bit hesitant, but the pictures of the food looked good so we decided to just go and try for ourselves. Glad we did so. We ordered the curry lobster with plantains and it was nice. Other guests had nice looking food on their plates also 😍. If we would've come earlier we would've tried other dishes also. Mind you, it can be hot inside, so make sure you sit under the fan. Also, their cat seems to be famous and very social 😉

The chef/owner is incredible. The lobster fried, the red snapper in curry sauce, all was incredible. Plus the atmosphere with the music and the view of the ocean made it 10/10. Definitely eat here, you will be happy you came!

Had an amazing evening yesterday the food was on point. The shrimp curry was A-Mazing full of flavours and delicious. The waitress was attentive and friendly. A gem in the parish of portland. Cannot wait to go again

Ordered fish and steak meals. Fish meal was good. Steak serving was very small and served on a bed of wet vegetables. Not at all what was expected and not filling. Place also needs general maintenance works.

Fantastic place to have dinner / breakfast. The best food we had so far traveling through the Island. The owner is a super nice gentleman; in addition to delicious food we had great conversations!

We just got back from St Thomas and we were hungry and decided to stop. I was very pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. The location has the restaurant facing the sea, the bar is in the centre of the restaurant and the lighting and music gives a nice ambience...thank you Lindsey much love Ann

This spot really didnt live up to my expectations. Drove a long way to check this place out, only to find the facility under new management and the owner/chef/cashier/waiter and his cat attending to our needs. The food wasnt good and of the three dishes only two persons partially tasted the meal. The chef/waiter/owner didnt even care to say anything about the third person not touching the meal. The only sad thing is I didnt read all the reviews before visiting. Definitely not going back
Cyprian Smith — Google review
Unfortunately I can’t recommend this place. The prices are way too expensive for what is offered. I had curry shrimps with rice and peas and both was bad. Very tasteless and the rice was squashy, really not done well. The service was also not the best (slow) and the waiter recommended us stuff we didn’t like. Only positive thing is the nice view you have there.

Fabulous place! Red snapper with plenty of scotch bonnet peppers (as requested by me) and lobster with the most incredible garlic sauce I've tasted. Such a welcoming host/chef and his teenage daughters were delightful in serving. 5 stars, definitely recommend!

Probably the best lobster I’ve ever had. And probably the best meal we’ll have in Jamaica even though we’re here for another week. Everald is a wonderful person and a wonderful cook. Beer is cold. Vibe is awesome. Couldn’t have asked for a better welcome to Port Antonio, or Jamaica. Love! Bless up!

Great place to eat all meals of the day. Had breakfast and lunch here during our stay. Well priced and everything made fresh or to order. Can really taste the quality and time that goes into. Would recommend.

Everold is the owner. Provides exceptional service. We were in vacation in the beautiful Port Antonio and decided to have dinner off property but we were exhausted so we called. Firstly, he picked up the phone! 2ndly he said yes to delivering. 3rdly he arrived with our food right on time. Lastly, the food was fantastic! I had vegetarian stew peas. Kids had fried chicken and festival which they hadn't had in a while. Hubby had oxtail and rice and peas. Finger lickin' good!!

One of the best meal so far in Jamaica. Wish we are it here earlier in the trip so we could have come here more often. Delicious lobster and even more delicious coconut shrimp and fried green plantains.

My aunt was visiting from New York and we drove from St. Mary to go there. I was urged to go just by the warm and welcoming voice over the phone. The food was excellent, just right. The staff was very courteous and friendly too, and it's the first restaurant I went to with complimentary wet wipes😊. I loved the rustic outdoor feel...it felt like 90s Jamaica in the dance hall. I'll definitely visit again.

This place serves some good thin crust pizza and a mean pasta! Its an unassuming building in the heart of port antonio but authentic italian dishes! The servings are on the small side but its worth it!

The most delicious fishes I have ever had. We tried mahi mahi and regular lobster and was sooo good! You have to try also tomato bruschetta so simple but here tastes fantastic :)

Great food, great service. A must stop whenever I'm in Portland!

Great food, great service from everyone. Very warm, friendly and accommodating to requests. I went with 3 others and the food came quickly. For the amount of times I've been going to Portland and never previously dined there I could kick myself. 10/10 must dine at establishment once you're in Port Antonio, Portland Parish Jamaica.
Shane Graham — Google review
I’ve been dying to eat here but I never will. The gentleman behind the counter was utterly rude and only seemed to care for white tourists. I respect myself too much to take his nasty attitude so I left immediately. Great pizza can be found all over the world and trust that I would know. It’s a bad representation of Italians and Jamaican hospitality. PS Maybe if some more light was in the place he would cheer up. It was gloomy, small and didn’t look like much to eat at.

The staff at Wilkes Cuisine Seafood Restaurant provided a warm welcome and showed great attention to detail. The service was exceptional, with the server displaying proper table etiquette and placing the napkin on the guest's lap. The dining experience was delightful, with the escovitch fish and lobster ordered being served promptly by Jamaican standards. The cuisine was of high quality, and this restaurant offered the best service yet encountered in Port Antonio. It is highly recommended for its well-prepared and delicious food.
a beautiful restaurant in Port Antonio. Remarkable quality of food, with plating by a starred chef. I think this is the best in Jamaica not to be missed. The restaurant is minimal but the window immediately overlooks the sea is amazing I ordered coconut shrimp with curry. GREAT and salad lobster as well very fresh
Manuela Lenoci — Google review
The staff was very friendly! The food. My Goodness the food was great!!! The portions were reasonable. The view from the restaurant windows are so captivating. All and all it was a wonderful experience! Ordering dinner there now while I am writing this. However the restaurant could do with some more upgrades.
Chanel Wilson — Google review
We were welcomed warmly by the staff. She was really attentive, put the napkin on our lap, and had proper table etiquette, all of which contributed to a lovely dining experience. Escovitch fish and lobster, which we ordered, didn't take very long by Jamaican standards. The cuisine was good, and the service was the best I've yet experienced in Port Antonio. I would definitely recommend dining here!
Lisa — Google review
The food is absolutely well prepared and mouth-watering. We could smell the aromatic seasonings going into our meal before it was even ready to be served. The entrance is a bit confusing and don't be discouraged by it's "shanty" appearance. It looks nicer on the inside, I promise. What it lacks in decor, it a thousand times makes up for in the cuisine.

Prices are reasonable, Food is excellent and Customer Service was great! Overall experience I would recommend.
Dominic-Jon Tracey — Google review
The restaurant itself has a great location right on the beach, we went right at sunset so it was very beautiful. The food quality was good, we had curried goat and Barby fried chicken. My complaint though is that the food was somewhat cold and the portion size was small for what I paid. We paid $800 Jamaican per plate. I've lived in Jamaica for 2 years and honestly you can get more food with just as good quality or better and not pay as much at a random cook shop that isn't so touristy.
