Bahía Bioluminiscente

Mentioned on
Bay
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
A bay in Puerto Rico that is known for its high concentration of phosphorescent dinoflagellates is home to an intense bioluminescence phenomena. Visitors can tour the lagoon by kayak or electric boat and see hundreds of fish creating blue sparks below the surface. Another popular destination for tourists is Vieques, where they can sunbathe on Playa Flamenco during the day and explore Mosquito Bay at night.
Once in a lifetime experience not be missed. Very hard to get good photos, enjoy what I was able to take using long exposure cam.
Allen Lin — Google review
I’m giving it five stars because it was a great experience but honestly it was not at all like I imagined. I didn’t realize the glow was motion activated and would only show up when running your paddle or hand through the water. It was still fascinating just nothing like I pictured. I thought the entire bay would be glowing. The stars were beautiful too!

Had a great experience, please make sure your set your cameras for low light pictures , we have just memories in our head and a lot of bkank snaps Also please use alternative form of illumination ( not camera flash) … red light might be … to give the ability to the camera (iPhone) to focus ( I’m still old school) Best of luck and enjoy
Dinoy Antony — Google review
Wonderful experience, calm waters, we paddled in with the dinghy and enjoyed some bioluminescence. The way from sun bay can be a bit rough when it gets dark, and be aware there is a reef, so check out the area in the daytime before you attempt driving there at night on your own.
Sanja Music — Google review
Save some money and drive here. No need to book an expensive tour. And they are dog friendly! We drove here from Ponce, parked our car and walked into the main plaza where all of the restaurants and shops are. There you will find some small kiosk stalls where you can purchase tickets for $15pp if you stay on the boat (don’t do this one) or $40pp if you want to swim in the bay (do this!). Arrive by 6p to yourself adequate time to finding parking, buy yourself an 815p ticket, get dinner and a few beers before departing. Sorry no photos of the bioluminescence, my iPhone camera just wouldn’t do it justice.
Amit Kalra — Google review
Definitely go for the transparent-bottomed kayaks. This is the next best thing to swimming in the bay, which is no longer allowed (we were able to do it on a tour 20 years ago). In addition to seeing the luminescence from kayak strokes and a wake (in your boat and others), you are on top of sparking stars throughout. Aloui (spelling?) and Jimmy were excellent guides, not talking too much, helping us acclimate to the dark, informative, and making sure that we enjoyed the experience. Eduardo and Martinez were big helps getting into and out of the kayaks, and keeping things organized. Do come prepared to get wet as there is some water in the bottom of the boats. I do suggest a dark night (we went on a new moon) as the luminescence is more visible). There is more light around the bay than I remember 20 years ago, but still dark with a great star and planet show. The bands of milky way are readily visible.
Mark Neuhausen — Google review
The night sky was very bright when we went; not quite a full moon. This means it's really difficult to see the bioluminescent effect. You can see it and it is very cool but just be aware before booking that, if possible, you want to book for a night when the moon is likely to be as dim as possible.
Anthony Voyage — Google review
AMAZING!!! This was an experience to remember! We visited via kayaks on a new moon and the last tour of the night (9:30pm).
M M (Grrrly) — Google review
SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! Beautiful kind souls. Thank you so much for showing us the island!!! He was so kind and helpful! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Katie Olson — Google review
Very cool but not many videos or photos as it is hard to catch bioluminescence effect on the phone camera… I’ve heard it was called the brightest bioluminescence bay in 2006 by Guinness World Record.
Polina Antipova — Google review
We experienced it during our visit to Puerto Rico, it was one of the best experiences of our lives! One of the bucket list items checked.
Ruchi Doshi — Google review
Amazing experience to see this in person. Some of the photos on Google are definitely a compilation of multiple professional photographs (or maybe not) but for our tour the color was much more subtle but still worth visiting. An amazing Mother Earth phenomenon. We booked our tour via “Viator” and paid about $55 per person. We were picked up in Esperanza and driven to a spot about 10 minutes.
Jessica Kirschner — Google review
I went recently with a tour. 65 dollars for 1.5 hr but reallt about 30~40 mins on kayak and rest is really pick up and drop off. It was just a dim white light under water. Nothing spectacularly visible out there. If I had known, I'd skip. But overall, I am glad I at least saw something like this for the first time and kayaking under stars was not a bad experience.
Julie — Google review
AVATAR LIKE!!!!!! I am not exagerating. I went Dec 2023 with very low expectation and very aware of photoshoped pictures. The experience BLEW my mind!!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I wasn't drunk, I wasn't high. It was BRIGHT blue. You could see the fish swimming like blue lights going fast and being under a sky full of stars. This bay holds the Guiness record of more dinoflagellates per gallon in the World! And the fact that no one can record it makes it even more special! This was Disney in real life. Mindblowing! I took a tour from Esperanza at 9:00pm, with a 10min bumpy ride to take me to the kayacs.

Malecón House

Hotel
Sights & Landmarks
Malecon House is a charming and cozy boutique hotel located in the village of Esperanza on Isla Vieques, one of Puerto Rico's Spanish Virgin Islands. The hotel offers luxurious accommodation with polished wood furnishings, high-end linens and 13 rooms including four rooms with private balconies that offer breathtaking sea views. Guests can enjoy a laid-back ambiance along the boardwalk, relax by the pool or indulge in complimentary breakfast.
Absolutely beautiful boutique hotel with amazing ocean views! The pool was a big hit particularly with my three-year-old son. The hotel is family friendly, but still relaxed enough that it would be perfect for an adult getaway as well. I literally cannot say enough about the amazing staff. Marybeth and Christy along with Fred took care of every thing. The fact that they provide beach chairs and coolers and umbrellas was a huge plus. Truthfully, the only downside was there is a good bit of street noise. But our sound machine drowned it out, and it wasn’t a huge deal. Also be aware a lot of places nearby are closed on Sundays and Mondays, so plan accordingly if you want to go to certain places. We loved the Malecón!
Naomi Morson — Google review
We had a great time staying at Malecón House. There was plenty of parking for our golf cart, everyone was really friendly, and our room was comfortable. The breakfast is pretty basic, but the coffee was hot, and we were more focused on getting to the beach each morning anyways. Very walkable, but since it’s towards the end of the strip, about as quiet as it could get other than being off the main drag.
Kirk Roberts — Google review
We had the PERFECT stay at Malecón house!! We stayed in the ocean view king which offered the most beautiful view of the ocean-honestly it makes you almost want to never leave the hotel! AC works well and bed was comfortable. Staff is so friendly and accommodating, especially Porsche who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The amenities here are also wonderful-easy and free to grab beach towels and umbrellas, honor bar with snacks and drinks open 24/7, and lovely continental breakfast every morning. Finally, the pool with fountains and the banana garden/courtyard are so soothing and the perfect place to cool off after a day at the beach. Thank you so much to everyone at Malecón house-we cannot recommend them enough!!!

Jason was able to accommodate us after our flight was cancelled. We were lucky enough to get room 11 which offers a gorgeous view of the water. Tasty Continental breakfast with excellent coffee. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Worth every penny.
Chris Burdick — Google review
We adored our stay at Malecon House. Staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms are clean and comfortable. My one request would be a more substantial comforter as I’m the type that likes a bit more weight than a thin blanket to sleep. Recommend ear plugs for sleeping as the island is well populated by roosters. Simple breakfast provided with coffee, mini muffins, yogurt. Coffee could be stronger. Location is wonderful- sea is across the street, restaurant and bars within walking distance. Scooter, e-bike, golf cart rentals, and beach also within walking distance. Even an island hiking trail just a short wade through the water not far away (so many land crabs here!). I highly recommend and would definitely return.
Rachel R. — Google review
The staff was wonderful, and the property was beautiful, but the shower had no water pressure, and the water took several minutes to warm up. When it finally warmed up, it would come out really hot, and then minutes later, it would run cold again. I advised staff but they didn't see a problem. It was kinda awful not having a good shower for days. Other than that, it was a great stay.

This is the perfect place to stay in Vieques. Immediately after booking, we received a great email with information about the island including car rentals, restaurants, and things to do. And when we got there, Edward was so warm and helpful in getting us settled in and sharing his insights. The rooms were super clean, comfortable, and had great AC. We loved our stay and will come back when we visit again.

This was a wonderful stay in Vieques. The staff were great; friendly, knowledgeable about the area, honest recommendations, and just overall nice people. -The room was beautiful, #11, with nice balcony and view of the water. The AC worked really well! Appreciated the ceiling fan, small fridge, and we never lacked for towels. -The extras were so helpful; coolers, beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, ice. The honor bar for drinks and snacks were great. Along with insider info, those extras made our day trips so easy. -Location is great; walkable to plenty of great restaurants and bars, as well as meeting points for multiple tours. But you do want to get a 4x4 vehicle if you plan to go beach hopping. Parking is easy and secure, on site. -The pool area was serene, pool was small but nice, and we used it every single evening. It was also a perfect place to have an early morning cup of coffee. This is such a special place in beautiful Vieques. We are already planning our next trip.

Our experience at the Malecón house was amazing from the second we called them to book. On the phone, Fred helped us book our stay, and even though we were booking a bit last minute, he made a huge effort to fit us in and gave us suggestions on how to travel to Vieques from the main island. Book an ocean view king if you can! They even had a continental breakfast with coffee, pastries and fresh fruit. During breakfast, the staff made the rounds to each guest, making personalized recommendations for activities, the best beaches, and restaurants. They even had chairs, umbrellas, towels and a cooler for us, and brought everything to the car each day. We felt so taken care of here and will definitely be back!

Beautiful guest house across the street from the ocean! All of the staff we met were very welcoming and friendly. We even got an upgraded room for free since it was out anniversary! Rooms were clean and quiet. Very nice sitting area/pool. It was also very nice to have free use of beach chairs, towels and coolers!
Wendy Lillystone — Google review
Excellent location next to restaurants and bars, and the meeting spots for many bio bay tours. This hotel lets you use towels, beach chairs, and umbrellas for free. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. This is one of the only hotels I've stayed in with no TV. They offer a small continental breakfast each morning. When you first arrive, you will see the large white gate closed. That's just to keep the wild horses out. Just slide it open and come in. If you want to rent a car, you can get picked up at this hotel, and then when you drop your car off, the rental company will give you a ride to the airport/ferry. Watch out for little hermit crabs walking on the garden path at night. They certainly won't bother you, but could be easy to step on if they're on the path.
Simon Anderson — Google review
Beautiful hotel, the grounds are an exquisite mix of plants mixed with the classical style of the hotel. The location could not be better for food in Ezperanza and access to mosquito bayand all the amazing beaches. Lastly, the staff are great and go out of there way to make you feel welcomed! Will be back.

If I could give 6 stars, I would. This boutique hotel was incredible and certainly our favorite stop on our PR vacation. For a fairly affordable price we were living in luxury for a few days. The room was clean and beautifully designed. The ac worked perfect (which is important in that climate) as well as hot water showers, and a very comfortable bed. The pool was small but absolutely beautiful and surrounded by so many tropical plants and trees, it truly felt like paradise. The view across the street was simply stunning and the location was very convenient to walking to restaurants, bars, beaches and tours including bio bay and fishing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was cool that they provided beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, coolers and ice to rent for free. It made our stay very easy and relaxing. If we visit Vieques again, we will absolutely be staying at the Malecon House again.

Believe the reviews because this place was pretty perfect. The check in process was efficient but laid back. The property is beautiful, the location perfect for walking to restaurants, and the staff is very friendly all around. The AC and fan in the room worked great. Huge points for the small things that most hotels don’t include - small coolers, endless ice, filtered cold water, beach chairs, towels and umbrellas for the beach all included. This made our visit so easy without having to haul all of these items on the ferry. If we come back to Vieques, we will definitely be back to Malecón House.

The best place to stay in La Esperanza. Rooms were clean. Beautiful place. Hospitality was just top notch. Fred and team do a really good job in maintaining the place. Thanks Fred for your wonderful help and hospitality. If we plan to come to Vieques again, we are picking this place for sure.
Sresty Theegela — Google review
One of our absolute favorite boutique hotels ever. The staff is top notch and really make all the difference. They will go above and beyond to make sure you have an excellent stay. We have visited twice now and stayed in a variety of rooms. All are wonderful but get a balcony if you can. The breakfast is adequate to get you out the door and a selection of drinks and snacks is always available. We got lots of use out of the pool but Sombe beach is close by and the hotel has beach towels and chairs to borrow. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Malecon House and can't wait to go back!
Janette Crum — Google review
This hotel is very well designed. Beautiful garden, great location, very close to the beach, and their staff are very nice. We will book the same hotel when we come back to visit
Jin long — Google review
A lot of great things about this hotel: - location at the end of the main drive in Esperanza which is convenient to walk to bars and restaurants but far enough away that it’s quiet. All the beaches are short drive away - parking right outside the hotel is easy and gave us piece of mind to be off the main road with a rental car - they provide you with towels, beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, and ice each day which makes beach hopping super easy - provide a light breakfast of yogurt, fruit, coffee each morning (it is also right next to Kristy’s which was a delicious breakfast spot) - pool is awesome, small but super peaceful and clean Our only complaints were that they were very strict about check in and check out time. There was no one in our room (and appeared to be clean but we couldn’t use it until after 3). I also didn’t sleep well because the bed and pillows were not very comfortable. Overall, it offers a lot of positives and if you aren’t a sensitive sleeper, would probably be awesome place for you!
Katelyn Peterson — Google review
This is a lovely spot and the people who work here are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the ocien view deluxe king (room 11)and it was great (photos attached). We also stayed in a deluxe queen (room 12) and it was a significant difference. Definitely worth the upgrade to the better room. This is a short walk to several restaurants as well as the meeting spot for the biobay and some rental options. Malecón House has chairs, goggles, games, and more that you are able to borrow while you are with them. They have a small continental breakfast which is a fine option if you want something light, but they recommended we go to spot down the road and it was great. I live the "Honor Room" where they have snacks and drinks available for very reasonable pricing and you just write down what you got. It is easy and great and open 24/7. They have a rooftop you can walk up to as well. When we were there, there were no seating or anything which seemed strange. Perhaps they have it other times or perhaps there is an operational concern that prevents it, but it would be cool to have. This is a great spot to stay on Vieques and I certainly recommend you stay there, you will enjoy yourself and the close driving proximity to some excellent beaches.
Dylan King — Google review
I’ll start off saying - my rating is based on the value for price. We paid a rate of $280 a night. For $280 a night, I do not recommend this hotel. And hotel is a loose terminology for Malecon House, I would say it’s more of an upper grade hostel. The main issue is that the room we received, and for reference it was room 14, did not look like the pictures whatsoever. While it’s located in the super fun area, it’s the last hotel on the road making it a bit of a stretch from the other places. The hotel has no restaurants either and while they offer a continental breakfast it sits outside in the heat and is limited. I will say, the tiny pool is very cute. They provide a mini snack area in the lobby which is wonderful. Plus, they provide beach chairs and towels. I did like that we had a key code to enter the room instead of cards. The hotel and staff felt disorganized, we called several times inquiring about transport around Vieques and received little to no help. For such an expensive hotel, I would expect the hotel to either pick us up at the airport/ferry or call the taxi to pick us up. No such option was provided. Our welcome emails came the day after we already checked in, obviously becoming unhelpful. Additionally, our fire alarm started beeping at 3am! Thankfully, I knew to press the hush button and removed the battery. Apparently they had changed it that day and knew there was a possibility of it going off. Baffling. When I mentioned it the next morning, I did not receive an apology at all! They instead told me what I should have done (at 3am) which was to come to the lobby in pitch black and call a number. Ridiculous. If they knew this could have happened they should have at least let us know beforehand and provided us the number to call so we didn’t need to traipse in the middle of the night. I found this completely unacceptable and any normal hotel or hostel or motel would have been sorry and profusely apologized. The rooms smelled of mold and dampness. We had no bed frame for the bed and the mattress was very firm (I find this uncomfortable). The sheets also were a bit rough. Our room faced the pool area and as the only window we had faced the pool and anyone could look directly into our room, we had little to no privacy or natural light. As a side note- the lightning in the room were extremely fluorescent and bad. The floor also easily gets dirty with mud and sand. I’ve stayed in 100s of hotels, and half of them were in sandy areas - I’ve never seen a floor get this dirty for such an expensive of a room. Not sure it matters, but no carpet in the rooms either. Shampoo was awful too. There are cracks all over the walls and mold on the lamp near the bedside. It was gross. While I loved everything about Vieques, I would not recommend this hotel. Now, if it was a normal price between $100-150 I would recommend. But when the pricing is that of a 4 star hotel, I expect a lot better.

Great rooms. Fantastic staff. Lovely pool for days you need to rest from the sun. Easy walking distance from most things in Esperanza and just far enough from the noisy end of the beach.
Felicia Comisar — Google review
Rooms are very clean and modern, AC works great, hot water runs well. Little conveniences like the beach umbrellas and towels, mini-bar at the front desk, etc. are thoughtful and really make life easy. Dafney at the front desk really goes above and beyond in customer service. And location is great, right on the beach next to some great restaurants.

Our stay at Malecon House in Vieques was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that truly made us feel like locals. The location of the home couldn't have been better. Nestled in the heart of Vieques, Esperanza offered the perfect balance of tranquility and accessibility. We were just a short drive away from pristine beaches, vibrant local markets, and charming cafes, allowing us to immerse ourselves fully in the beauty of Puerto Rican culture. I especially loved the horses just grazing everywhere. The home itself was a haven of comfort and style. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, from the modern furnishings to the colorful artwork on the walls. Also the private pool and lounge area was cozy and just awesome!!! Last but not least, we can't say enough about the hospitality of our host Dafney. From offering invaluable local tips to ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Her passion for Vieques was infectious, and we left with a newfound appreciation for this beautiful island. In summary, our stay at Malecon House was nothing short of magical. If you're looking for a luxurious retreat in Vieques that combines comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality, look no further. We can't wait to return! One weekend there is just not enough!!!

Fideicomiso de Conservación e Historia de Vieques is an environmental organization that focuses on conservation and local ecology education. In addition to offering nature tours and events, the center provides educational programs for visitors to learn more about conservation efforts on the island of Vieques. The area around the center offers a variety of amenities, including restaurants, bars, gift shops, and an ATM machine.
Small but informative museum that has a nice collection of artifacts and information that added substantial historical context to our trip. This especially thanks to Robert who is awesome and is a human encyclopedia when it comes to Vieques as well as an enthusiastic conservationist. We learned a lot about the evolution of Vieques culturally, economically and ecologically. I would’ve liked to have made this my first stop on the trip, and recommend it that way. They are always working on bettering their displays and welcome public feedback! So if you are highly opinionated on museum display, marketing, or have a great display idea, they are taking notes. The mini aquarium is neat. They do catch and release and rotate the types of fish and crustacean they have. The arrow crab is pretty cute. They also have a real live mangrove tree that they’ve been growing for 17yrs. Cool because you can see it up close and learn a little more about these protected species.

One of the best experiences. Kids enjoyed seeing live sea creatures (catch and release), learn about history and environment like mangrove trees, and learn about the bioluminescent bay. We were lucky enough to do a Bio bay tour and wow! Simply breathtaking to see and learn about just how special Vieques and Mosquito bay are. Highly recommend and hoping to be back for another visit and even a kids summer camp in the future.

FUN BROTHERS RENTALS & BIO BAY VIEQUES

Mentioned on
Equipment rental agency
FUN BROTHERS RENTALS & BIO BAY VIEQUES offers a combo deal for a bio bay tour and golf cart rental. The bio bay tour guide was informative despite the challenge of windy conditions. Although the experience may not match the photos, it's still fun and unique. The golf carts are affordable, easy to drive, and convenient for exploring the island without carrying all your belongings around.
So easy to reserve and use, the lady at the window told us every detail and helped us figure everything out. Reserving a golf cart definitely made traveling and exploring the island easier. Thank you Rebecca! You were fantastic!

I have to say, they have the friendliest staff here. They helped me out with my scooter reservation even though it was a last minute booking. Guided me through places to visit across the island. Really amazing work folks, would highly recommend them and would love to book if I revisit the island ever!!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY I found the behavior of our tour guide Rebecca to be extremely unprofessional and rude. She was patronizing, condescending, and talked to everyone like they were 4 years old and had learning disabilities. The time we spent on shore before boarding the bus she was very in your face, aggressive, and borderline shouting in your face over very trivial things. "We are going to kayak, KAYAK, CAN YOU DO THAT?" And on the bus ride there she would not stop talking about how hard kayaking is for "people like us" or how important her job is. For what turned out to be a very gentle, and in my opinion effortless hour of kayaking, she did not need to do all that. What was the weirdest of all is after we returned to shore she switched up and put on a fake friendly personality that was a complete 180 from how she acted previously. I'm assuming it's because it was the time to give tips (I did not tip her). All in all, if you're going to insist on booking with this company, make sure you do not get Rebecca, as you couldn't pay me to go on a tour with her again. The bioluminescence itself was cool though.

We made the mistake of renting a golf cart from this group. The back was hit, seat torn and lic plate twisted ... It rattled so loud you couldn't talk to one another The steering was loose and the cart jerked continuously making the seat belts dig into your sides and drinks spill all over from the drink holder. The back tires were bald so it performed poorly in sand We got out navigation and on the smooth 997 road the max speed was 15.4 miles an hour in a 25 mile zone .. travelers were back up behind us until we could safely pull off to the side for the 30 miles we traveled ... This was probably the worst customer service we have ever had for approx 115.00 with tax and $3.00 gas refill which took an 1 1/2 hours traveling max speed 15, but usually well below 10mph due to the suspension being loose and the cart jerking so hard. We stopped by a few hours after renting it the young man. Working said what can I say it's a golf cart. Upon return we said this golf cart was in really rough shape he proceeded to gun the cart at full 15 mph hour/ spin it sharply in a firmly packed sand parking lot.... We said no drive it the way we did and the cart started bucking on a flat smooth surface. His response the golf carts are old 6430 miles logged, and we want more Polaris - I said then you shouldn't be renting them for 100+ dollars. I own four golf carts - bought them for my kids to ride on travels and theu fields on our 100 ac Farm & never have I ever experienced such a ride Phones falling, drinks in drink holders spilling all over. Low treads, visible damage to cart squealing brakes & poor customer service . I wrote in the morning and asked about rent a car I was told to go to a website.... Tons to fill out a video declaration for liability, $500.00 deposit. I would suggest renting a cart else where if at all possible - we saw beautiful golf carts all over the island - near the ferry dock and several other spots on the island and had a huge regret renting from Fun Brothers. Anyone who reads my numerous review from all over the world knows it's almost impossible to score a 1 star ⭐ but if there has been a option for zero or even a 1/2 star ⭐ I would have placed this experience there. Do your homework - don't rent something they say is just old used and abused because they want MULES

Thank you Fun Brothers for a great experience! We rented a golf cart to beach hop for the day - on our way to the last beach (Playa Negra), we got a flat tire. When we called, we were told they would send someone, but wasn’t sure how long it would be… They arrived within 20 minutes and we were back on the road in minutes. The only drawback (reason for the four star rating) was they don’t offer transportation to/from the ferry.

We did both a bio bay tour and a golf cart rental. (Book together to save $5). The guide for the bio bay tour was informative and helpful! It was super windy and he had a challenge keeping us together. Set your expectations a bit lower than what you see in photos, but not low enough to cancel the trip! It was fun and very unique. Golf carts are limited to 25mph. You will want one for a day if you’re staying on the island more than a couple of days. They’re easy to drive, affordable ($90 for 24 hrs) and you’ll definitely appreciate not schlepping all your stuff everywhere. Good choice, and more adventures besides the two we did await! Friendly staff made it easy.

Glad we rented our golf cart with Fun Brothers! Super uncomplicated, chill staff and quick service. The car did the deal - except for the driver‘s seatbelt which was way too tight and kept pulling me back on the seat. This way I could not reach the pedals. Also couldn‘t change it once it pulled me back - eventually I could only drive properly with a towel behind my back. So if they fix this, it‘d be 5 stars ⭐️

We rented a golf cart through Fun Brothers and did the bio bay tour! They were incredible to work with. The bio bay tour was run by Oscar, Billy, and Carrie who made it such a fun and worthwhile adventure! Even though there was some light from the moon, they had a tarp they laid over us in out kayaks (like a blanket) so we could see it fully glowing in the darkness. Having the golf cart was priceless on the island, and I’m glad we went with Fun Brothers, as we were staying nearby.

Came through in a pinch. If Avis screwed you over with your rental like us and now your stuck without a car give them a call. We ended up getting a golf cart rental from these wonderful people for less than half the cost of the rental car and they had one for us available last minute.

We did the Bio Bay tour with them due to a recommendation and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately due to our schedule we had to do it near a full moon. Fortunately they knew showing people what it would be like when it's truly dark makes a difference. They had a dark tarp they put over two kayaks at a time out on the bay. It was superb. I wondered if all groups did this, but learned the next day from others that they don't. They should. Meanwhile, next time we come we'll book again with Fun Brothers and try to time it better with the moon. Carlos is a great guide.

Please never use this company. Costumer service was terrible. We had talked to them on the phone and had asked about scooter rental at 3pm and late return at 7pm before our ferry was leaving. (They close at 5pm) They said that was fine since we are paying full price for only a few hours. Afterward there was a hidden 50 dollar cash fee for late returns that no one had mentioned. We also rented snorkeling equipment. They failed to mention that due to the storm the water is very murky and snorkeling is not good. Even Our waitress told us not to bother. We return the equipment and did not see a single fish. It would have been nice for the experts who rent the equipment to tell us this. They also charged us 9 more dollars than we owed on our credit card. Which is a pain, because it is not worth a fight for 9 dollars.

We had an excellent experience with this company recently for the bio bay kayaking tour. They gathered the guests on time, gave clear instructions, and asked if we had kayaking experience. And they cleared my concern about bringing two little children with us. It went so well! And I saw that we were not the only guests who kayaked with children. The guide spoke fluent English, very professional and knowledgeable, we learned a lot about the bioluminescent living organism. I’d recommend this company to anyone.

Fun Brothers Bio Bay tour is an absolute MUST if you are visiting Vieques. Our guides Carlos and Ricky were so knowledgeable and truly gave us an unmatched experience. I cannot recommend their tour enough. If you are unsure which Bio Bay tour service to use, Fun Brothers is without a doubt the way to go. We also rented a golf cart from them and had a fantastic experience working with Joshua. He was extremely helpful and wonderful to speak with. We can’t wait to visit and see the Fun Brothers team again. Thank you for everything!!

We did the bio bay tour tonight and it was amazing. Our tour guides Rebecca, Ricky and Geraldo were amazing keeping everyone together and safe but also while having an amazing and fun experience you literally can’t get anywhere else. My family has been coming to the island for 30 years and done the bay dozens of times and this was the most fun and best experience I’ve ever had. Thank you guys for such an amazing experience!

I went on Feb 9th for the bio bay tour with a large group of friends. There was 14 of us total. We had an amazing time!! We were lucky to have perfect weather and a new moon. Rebecca was fantastic! She was very friendly and informative. She was also great at speaking loud and clearly for everyone to hear. My friends and I are from Missouri and are used to kayaking the many rivers here. She commented on how well we all kayaked. There wasn't much wind that night to push us around thankfully. The bio bay was absolutely breathtaking! We went with the clear kayaks and it was definitely worth the extra money!!! Seeing the bioluminescence light up through the bottom of the kayak was so cool! We saw tons of fish, big and small, and two sting rays!

Absolute trash company. They scammed our entire group of 8 out of our bio bay tour on our last night of vacation. We showed up the night of our tour after paying in full the day before and no one was there. I called and they claimed that we called to see where our guide was and they said earlier that day we called and canceled, acknowledging that there would be no refund, which was NOT true. They laughed at me over the phone when I said how messed up this was and that I'd be writing a bad review. So here you go :)
