Loreto

Loreto is a city on Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, on the Gulf of California. Its colonial buildings include the Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto, a 17th-century church. Off the coast, the islands and waters of Bahía de Loreto National Park are home to dolphins, whales and pelicans. The city is backed by the Sierra de la Giganta mountain range, where trails lead to prehistoric cave paintings.

Mexican restaurant
Orlando's Restaurante in Loreto, Mexico is a local favorite known for its excellent food and generous portions of Mexican classics. While open for all meals, breakfast is particularly popular with long lines forming outside. The outdoor dining area has a lovely vibe and affordable prices, making it an easy favorite in town. The restaurant offers delicious Mexican favorites, the freshest seafood, and a full drink list. Although not fine dining, the food is outstanding with the cilantro fish dish being a standout.
What a great place to have to eat specially breakfast. The avocado toast is the best that I had in my life. Delicious food and the service is amazing. If you are in Loreto you must eat at Orlando’s.
Gabriela Cirby — Google review
Great dining experience overall! Food, service, portion size, cleanliness and prices were all good. Ambiance was great. We ordered Orlando’s Combination and Bacon Wrapped Steak-Shrimp with Mezcal Margaritas. The only reason I would not give a 5 is that the food could have been a bit more flavorful and savory though I recognize that they are probably catering to us gringos and thus perhaps holding back a bit. Get there early for dinner as it fills up quickly.
Hannibal Adventures — Google review
Orlando’s is very cute. They had good margaritas, and they were very accommodating with vegan/vegetarian food. They gave us a burrito and veggie tacos, and we ordered chips and guacamole. The vegetables were entirely unseasoned, so overall the food was not good. Especially for the price. This was our most expensive meal in all of Baja and it certainly was not worth the price. I would not recommend.
August Burns — Google review
Relaxing atmosphere and friendly employees. The margaritas are delicious and the guacamole and chips abundant. The fish dish I order was very good and fresh.

Located 1 block north of Loreto plaza, comfortable outdoor dining, I enjoyed the Pescado al Celantro, sea bass over rice great taste worth a visit when visiting Loreto BCS.
Steven Marquez — Google review
Great food and really good people. The service was outstanding and they go above and beyond for their customers. We had dinner then came back for breakfast the next day. We asked for a recommendation for a massage and they provided two. They even went out of their way to call for availability for us. Great Sunday brunch with the best chilaquiles in Loreto! Excellent margaritas too!
Christine Marshall — Google review
Orlando's is a gem of a restaurant, one of our favorite places to eat at when in Loreto! The Staff, Eddie, Francisco, Gustavo, Eduardo are very kind . They offer all kinds of foods from traditional Mexican, specialty seafood to excellent Margaritas. The best Cadillac Margarita I have ever had. A must try when in town.
Lissa Buzzelli — Google review
We went here for breakfast and had the breakfast burrito and the Avocado toast. Both were big portions and very tasty for a fair price. Highly recommend getting breakfast here. The place is also nicely decorated. Edit: went twice. Second time is the Omelet de la Casa and BLT sandwich you see on the photo. Very tasty!
Daniel — Google review
Great overall experience. Just don't expect Mexico prices. We absolutely loved the Tamarind margaritas. The salsa is solid. The Poblano sauce was very good. We had shrimp enchiladas with Poblano sauce, which were great. We also had a combination plate and everything was very good. Cute place, friendly staff, just wish the chairs were more comfortable. Get the Poblano sauce and Tamarind margaritas, which were recommended to us by our host and were probably the best we've ever had.
Mike DaLuz — Google review
Orlando's is a great, off the main drag, restaurant. We brought in the dorado we caught earlier in the day. I was a little disappointed that they could only cook it two ways, although there were a bunch of great sauces. The service is top-notch, and their drinks are fantastic. It was little pricier than I thought it should be, but that is the new Baja. Overall a great experience and we will definitely visit again.
Bill Summers — Google review
We stopped by here for dinner when we had one night in Loreto. Wonderful, friendly service, but the food left some to be desired. The drinks were tasty, and the totopos and guacamole were good (but needed salt). It’s nice that they’re trying to cater to vegetarian folks, but the execution was mostly unseasoned vegetables. So close. Some cumin, paprika, pepper, and salt would take it to the next level. Or anything. More expensive than expected, too.
Lydia Kaye — Google review
We stopped by for breakfast. It's a pleasant open air dining space. I had the omelet poblano, which I liked. We also had the avocado toast, which we would have preferred to have more flavor.
Chandran Kumar — Google review
Great place ! Great food ! Burrito mañanero and enfrijoladas are amazing ! And big ! Coffee is good (cafe de olla )
Cinthia Piedrahita — Google review
My wife ordered the fish fajitas and i ordered the cilantro fish. There were other tempting dishes but i thought I'd try to keep it simple and see how they did. The fish was fresh and seasoned very nicely. It was cooked perfectly and the portions were generous. With both dishes the quality of the ingredients were clearly very good. I'm happy to report the food was so delicious because the staff were all very kind and good natured. It was a very lovely dinner. I'll happily return.
Kevin Shluka — Google review
The best, best dining experience that my husband and I have had in Loreto! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, gave me multiple vegetarian options (I had a vegan burrito, sublime!), were good to our dog, the music was lovely, the decor was charming and Tulio, our server, was an absolute gem. Loved it - one of the highlights of our trip. My husband had the lobster chile relleno and raved about it. Just the best!

Restaurant
Asadero Super Burro is a popular local taco spot that offers freshly made tortillas and juicy carne asada. Customers can enjoy their flavorful tacos or try the papa rellena, a baked potato topped with cheese, mushrooms, corn, and a choice of meat. While some reviewers have mentioned occasional burnt potatoes and high prices, the overall food quality is good. The cozy atmosphere adds to the dining experience. It is worth noting that the restaurant has seen better days in terms of its offerings.
Server speak English. They provide English menu too. Went on Sunday night around 7:25pm, only two table left. The best chicken burrito I ever had. The grilled chicken has a hint of rosemary. It’s really tender and juicy.Super burrito is giant, 2 people can share one. The steak is good too. I can’t wait to go again. They accept credit card too.

Absolutely delicious food! Authentic and very flavorful. The burros are huge, and everything is tasty! Attentive service also.

Excellent Service and food Amazing! A must one if you are in Loreto. Lucero and Paola are great. Home made Tortillas. Arrachera steak is unbelievable.

Food was delicious. My only complaint was the music arrived and it was too loud.
Gloria Dominguez — Google review
This place came recommended by a few people. They didn’t steer us wrong! The quesataco de pollo was SO good!
Anna Fischer — Google review
Very delicious tacos! We had tacos with and chicken / beef and cheese. They cost 38 MXN each (43 MXN with cheese), but they are really big and you get onions, tomatoes, guacamole salsa, cucumber, limes and hot sauce beside (see the picture). You can also order guacamole with nachos for 70 MXN, although it’s not on the menu.
Lennart Gillner — Google review
It's a good place if you want to smell like you've been to a BBQ, I recomend to take out, the food is not bad at all, but sometimes the potatoe comes burnt in the bottom, the prices are too high, the tortillas are small, it could be better, it was better before.
Juan Manuel Sea?ez Basurto — Google review
Very unassuming yet delicious baja food. Very much a local situation. The kind of place you know will be delicious about a half a block away just by the smell of the food.
Arturo Guzman — Google review
Great experience! Customer service was really good, and the food was amazing! We ordered a Chicken Burrito with Cheese, and a Steak Burrito and my gosh, those burritos were really big! Definitely caught us off guard! Without doubt, for what you're paying for, you're getting a lot! Only thing I didn't like was how hot the place was, and it was very quiet as they had very dim music playing. But the food was too good that I eventually didn't mind it. All in all, I strongly recommend checking this place out! It'll be worth it. They are taking the appropriate measures due to the pandemic, and they accept both cash and card! No parking lot but plenty of parking in the street right in front.
Michael Garcia — Google review
Tucked away off the main streets, definitely worth the effort to find it! Fresh handmade tortillas (we had flour), high quality meat grilled over a mesquite fire, served with a condiment tray of tasty toppings (including pico de gallo, salsa, poblano creama sauce, cucumbers, lime wedges and marinated fresh slices of onion). I had the carne asada (steak) and arrachera (flank steak) tacos. Hubby had the asada burrito (very large). Served simply with the freshly made tortilla and very generous portions of meat to top as you please. Very reasonable prices, especially for the quality of the food. Highly recommended!!!!
Barbara D — Google review
I always get the flank steak super burro with cheese, and I get a queso fundito to go. The food is cooked over an open flame with a wheelbarrow of wood in the corner as fuel. It smells deeply of burning wood in the restaurant. For those reasons, I must give it 5 stars.
Jonathan Simmons — Google review
Waited 40 minutes for 5 tacos that never showed up. Mine was amongst the many tables that got up and left due to the outrageous wait. 40 minutes. For a taco. They'd might do better hiring arm amputees for cooks.
Jamie Larios — Google review
While visiting Loreto from California, we went here late on a Sunday night and had a fantastic visit. The super burro was HUGE, easily enough to feed two people, and the stuff potato was great too. They give you a great tray of salsas and fixins to spice up the food. Easy casual setting with plastic tables, open kitchen, and beer fridges.
Julia Enthoven — Google review
Always a good time at Super Burro! Food is delicious! The Super Burro is massive, could easily be shared. I still dream about the Papas Rellenas and can't wait to visit again!

Restaurant
Mi Loreto is a trendy and inviting restaurant in Loreto, Mexico, featuring a unique setting with a tree at its core. The ambiance is cozy and relaxed, allowing guests to savor the delightful scents and tastes of authentic Mexican cuisine. This eatery stands out among the best restaurants in Loreto, offering delectable dishes like chiles rellenos and mole enchiladas.
Went here for dinner on our first night in Loreto and had a fantastic experience. The margaritas are amazing; I tried the mango and strawberry and thought they tasted delicious. The decor is beautiful: outdoor patio with lanterns and an overhanging tree. Great service, menu in Spanish and English, complementary appetizers, and homemade tortillas. The food wasn’t 10/10 for taste, but it was very good with big portions and not overly expensive. I highly recommend.
Julia Enthoven — Google review
Fantastic place. We were with a group of 6 - they fit us in early. Everything we ordered had amazing flavor. The pork with green mole was 👍👍
Cassandra Wright — Google review
Very good food, though I was somewhat disappointed with the garlic octopus. I didn't expect the chopped dish that I got and there was some grit as well. My wife lived the mole that she got. Hibiscus mezcal margarita were good, but I would prefer a glass instead of copper mug, which is really stainless, because it affects the flavor. Easier was terrific and classic American rock was played live for intrigue.
Karl Leibensperger — Google review
OMGosh!!! So delicious it's not even funny. I had chicken mole'. It was hands down the BEST mole' I have EVER eaten. So much flavor. Wonderful service. I can taste it as I type. Looking forward to eating here again during our next visit.

Great authentic food. Great prices, friendly staff. Across from a beautiful mission. Too many flies but , still Great.
Cynthia Martinez — Google review
Absolutely delicious with a beautiful melding of flavors. The mole is entirely unique. The fish was crispy and the mashed potatoes were so creamy.
Rebecca Deurlein — Google review
Very pleasant staff, everyone was very nice and helpful. Food was very good, I ordered the spinach sauce, Sea bass and my wife ordered the shrimp, both dishes were quite good.

Great place, atmosphere, service, music and above all the quality of the food. A proper 5 stars 🌟. Marco was our waiter and he made it all very easy and pleasant!! This place it’s a must when in Loreto!!!!
Jose Hita — Google review
Don’t even know what to say. Honestly the best comida Mexicana we have ever had. Mi Loreto chicken enchiladas and plantain stuffed chili relleno . Outstanding!!!
Sea Haul — Google review
A very nice spot in Loreto! Very good food and drinks! They were able to accommodate our party of 8 with reservations. We all ordered something different and it all came out together. Ery nice place
James Thompson — Google review
Nice atmosphere and good service. My wife had the shrimp al ajillo, which was exceptional. Everything else we had was great with one exemption. Most of the pork in the mole verde was dry and hard. I think they used the wrong cut of meat. It should be made with a well marbled cut from the shoulder that is almost impossible to over cook.
Brent Mccann — Google review
This place was amazing. The Manchamanteles was so flavorful. I’m definitely coming back.
Heather Knight — Google review
Absolutely amazing 🤩 The mole enchiladas and the Green mole dish were heaven. I wish my stomach were bigger so that I could eat it all again. The staff is super sweet and attentive. Try the Coconada. Delicious drink that is sweet and tangy.

El Rey Del Taco is a renowned eatery in Loreto, Mexico, celebrated for its Baja-style fish tacos. The menu offers a variety of taco options including tripa, cabeza, and carne asada. Customers can customize their tacos at the salad bar with an array of salads and salsas. Many visitors consider it the best place to enjoy delicious and fluffy Baja-style fish tacos that are lightly battered and fried.
We asked a lot of people where to get the best taco in Loreto, and Del Rey was in many responses. We had lunch there, and we were NOT disappointed!! I had the cabeza (cow head), my wife had asada, and the couple we were with had the fish tacos. DELICIOUS!! You might have a wait, but that is to be expected at a popular place run by 2 people! Thank-you Del Rey! You surely did not disappoint!! The condiment bar, which had onion, cabbage, tomato, and a variety of salsas added to the experience!
Jeff Black — Google review
Tacos were large but at 60 pesos each a bit expensive. Not sure what is so special about them. Service was super slow and place itself is quite basic. Waited 40 minutes to get 6 tacos.
Hin Or — Google review
Awesome, simple taco place. 4 tacos (fish, asada, tripa and cabeza). Super yummy. Widely regarded as the best tacos in town. The times they are open seem random. Definitely not what is posted on Google maps.
Victor Broto — Google review
Great size and tacos, we ordered two tacos a piece and it was filling and delicious
Chris Michel — Google review
I used to eat here back in 1999 when I lived in Loreto. They have the best fish tacos in Mexico. Would love to come back and visit again. Very happy to see they are still open after all these years.

Amazing fish tacos. They’re good size and good price. Fresh & quality. Loreto was the perfect stop on our road trip for food and gas.

Very good fish taco. Was open on Monday despite the posted hours on Google. Only downside is not sure if I got charged gringa prices. Paid 58 pesos for 1 taco.
Felicia Yang — Google review
Delicious tacos. When we went, there was a only two workers so we had to wait a while to order. It was worth the wait and the workers were really nice

One of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. Make sure you come here when you’re in Loreto!

Great tacos and the lemonade is too. Hours are iffy and the wait can be long but if you have time to wait, it's worth it.

Mexican restaurant
La Palapa Restaurante is a popular seafood spot in Loreto, Mexico, known for its lunch and dinner options as well as a reasonably priced breakfast selection. The menu features must-try dishes like whole fried fish, freshly shucked clams, shrimp cocktail, and seafood soup. The restaurant offers good food with an unassuming atmosphere inside a giant palapa.
In one word, Outstanding! What a hidden gem! We just happened to find this place and fell in love. Margaritas are top notch and authentic and the seafood was perfect. You must get the quesadilla too! We would give them six stars if we could because it was that great!
John “Del Mar Man” K — Google review
The ambiance is decent. And the shade from the thatched conical roof is welcome. I had Oaxacan flavored chicken, which was cooked well but the mole sauce was lacking in depth; enough to make me question why it was on the menu. Our server was fluent in both Spanish and English, and was genial and attentive. The busboy had so much cologne on we could smell his visits for nearly 2 minutes afterwards. (Didn't pair well with the food choices) Prices were reasonable for the touristy area. I would try it again.
Charles Klamm — Google review
Great grilled fish. Excellent service. Fun setting.
Bruce Schafer — Google review
Best restaurant we went to in Loreto. Fish tacos, fish filet, fish soup were all amaizing. Cheese enchiladas were delicious too. They start you out with a bowl of chips and several salsas. The atmosphere - inside a giant palapa - is perfect for authentic Mexican food.
Joel Dabisch — Google review
Good food if unexciting. Salsa platter with chips was terrific. We camped for an hour using their wifi without complaint from staff. Bathrooms were very clean and our waitress was as good as you can get, though she was too shy to try speaking English. Give it a try and skip the stuffed potato for something better.
Karl Leibensperger — Google review
La palapa is old school traditional Baja California restaurant with great food service and ambience. The fresh local sea bass was incredible and prepared perfectly. Highly suggest stopping here for a margarita and a seafood dinner.
Brian Hovnanian — Google review
Ordered guacamole it came with 6 chips only and no flavor the shrimp ceviche was good , service was ok the waiter looked unhappy I was there, I even joked with him if he was mad while he was taking my order .I tipped my cook because the ceviche was good I was expecting something awful since the guacamole was bad but it was made by the waiter . Overall it’s ok , I can see why it’s for sale …
Ines Ramos — Google review
Good food, nice enough setting. The service was a bit slow and our entrees came out at vastly different times. We were a big group, though, so maybe it's better with a smaller party.
Tricia Munro — Google review
This used to be my favorite. Not sure what changed but when the waiter spills half of my margarita and just says sorry. No replacement- and i order shrimp and get disgusting fish tacos on soggy tortillas- its over for me.
Tracie Sweet — Google review
Such a bummer. 1.75 hrs later, we had to tell them we would take it to go. They looked aghast but there were 10 of us with kids and at some point- it’s just not worth it. We paid full price and walked out with our food in 5 minutes, so frustrating. L

Delicious cevechi appetizer and sea bass for dinner. Oh yeah, the margaritas were excellent too.
Tom Gray — Google review
Party of 2 on a Saturday night, we were the only ones there, staff was friendly. We both ordered fish taco plate, portions were small for the price. Tacos were bare, just fish and tortilla, no crema of any type so in other words dry, came with salad on the side. Not sure we'd go back, definitely not for tacos
Melinda Meza-Sanchez — Google review
The refried beans were barely room temperature when served. Service was slow and the server needed to be reminded that our drinks were sitting at the bar waiting for him to pick up. The chips and salsa were ok, but the salsa containers were barely full, as if they had come from another table without being refilled.
