Moorabbin Air Museum is a museum located at Moorabbin Airport in Melbourne, Australia. The museum has a collection of aircraft, engines and other items that illustrate Australias aviation history.
Amazing and wow experience. I recently visited this museum and was quite impressed with aircraft’s and planes they have there. Most of them are open to public to climb and have feel of sitting in the cockpit of a fighter plane. Flight simulator was the best. It had a lot kids birthday parties as well the day we visited, definitely a great place for kids and Adults as well. Must visited place!!

Great couple of hours spent with my 7 year old who loves planes. In this museum you can touch almost everything and experience firsthand what it was like to pilot planes and helicopters from the 1930's to 1970's. The place even caters for kids' parties!!
Pat Boyd — Google review
Great Museum where you can get up close and interact with many of the displays which are well set up and informative. There is also a great little library in the main entrance for enthusiasts looking for interesting historical aviation books to read and/or models to build. Highly recommend a visit, great little museum, thank you!
Maurizio C — Google review
Very nice museum! Love how they made most of the planes, helicopteres, jets, etc accessible to walk into or sit in. I have never seen such vehicles up close so it was very interesting to inspect the cockpit and all the buttons! There's also a flight simulator which was pretty cool. There's a little gift shop where you enter, entry was just $10 per adult and theres toilets available too. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here 😊
Melisa Ak — Google review
This place was really cool. Good for kids who love their airplanes, all different types and different ones from all over the years. You get to go inside planes and play around, see how it all looked and how it was. It's a small place. It's a nice cheap little weekend thing to do. Kids would love it
Rachel Jones — Google review
Great place for both kids and adults to explore around. They allow us to hop into some planes, too- including spy planes. I was so happy that I got to see some old planes that no longer use in this modern period (e.g. F-86). Overall satisfied with the experience and great people who work there! Cheers!
BeAwesome “Beaw” — Google review
It was a fun experience, seeing old planes and their history. Also you're able to ride on some of them and access the controls / cockpit. This is fun for kids and adults alike, especially those who love airplanes.
Paul Bernard Gabion — Google review
We had an absolutely amazing time here with our young boy who is mad keen on everything to do with airplanes at the moment. Being able to sit in the cockpits of many real aircraft was very exciting. The volunteers in the reception are very knowledgeable and friendly, and the entry fee is very reasonable. The shop has a great range of aviation related toys, memorabilia, and books. The museum is well laid out and it's exciting that they are working on an expansion to house even more aircraft that are currently in storage. It's a fascinating glimpse into the history of aviation and well worth the trip out to Moorabbin.

Having looked this museum up before my vacation to Australia decided that I had to visit so whilst in Melbourne hopped on a train then on a bus to get there, and once there I have to say that I was not disappointed, this is a fantastic little museum with both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Kids will love the fact that they can climb into the aircraft and explore the museum is full of information and history and I can highly recommend a visit, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The airport has a busy general aviation hub so plenty of aircraft to be seen.
Ian Stewart — Google review
Great fun for the family or anyone who has a general interest in planes and aviation. Lots to look at and interact with. You can sit in most of the decommissioned plans which is a unique experience. A great historical experience.
Gerard M — Google review
A beautiful place with lots of aeroplanes, fighter jets, helicopters which you can climb onto to get a real feel. With both indoors and outdoors area on display you can easily spend 2 - 3 hours of not more. You need to visit the museum to actually understand how nice it is. Thoroughly loved it.
Samrat Roy — Google review
Loved this place. My sister heard about it so went with my 2 grandson's and sisters. The boys loved seeing all the old planes and sitting in the cockpits. Was fascinating. They even had a helicopter to sit in. We really enjoyed the few hours we spent there. Only $7.00 for adult's, children free.
karin penrose — Google review
Wow, fantastic place to visit! Recommend for kids, adults, families. Loved everything on show, and there were interesting things to look at for all ages. There are lots of interactive planes where you could sit in the cockpit and see what is like. Highly recommend
Lejla Ganz — Google review
What a wonderful experience. The admission fee is so worth it. You’ll need at least an hour to enjoy the rich history of aviation in AUS. There were a lot of open access planes for you to try out, to see how it feels like as a fighter pilot and commercial pilot. Adults and kids would really enjoy pushing buttons, pulling levers in the cockpit. Great to take photos everywhere. You don’t need to be an enthusiast to enjoy it. I hope they get to add more planes in the future!
David Ong — Google review
What an absolutely amazing place to visit, you could climb in almost everything. The information about each aircraft was very informative, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had a great time.
Caz B — Google review
Visited the museum on last Saturday (Oct 14) morning. For aviation fans, it’s a place really worth visiting. There are many interesting collections, especially the classic Beaufighter and the Fokker fuel tank. I was so excited when meeting the beautiful twin-engine Beau. BTW, bought several pretty lovely stickers from the shop.
Liwei Tan — Google review
Excellent aviation museum. Can get into most of the aircraft on display. And you can also check out the operational (to an extent) TAA Douglas DC-9 Simulator. Ranges from military to civil aircraft and helicopters, something for everyone. Great selection of books in the shop too. The guys there are also very helpful. Highly recommend this museum.
Rod Howarth — Google review
We visited on a recent trip to Melbourne. The guys let my son sit in the aircraft and we got a tour of the restoration area. Everyone was so enthusiastic to give information and help in any way. What was planned for an hour visit turned into 4 hours. We have been to many air museums both here and overseas and this was the best experience we have ever had. Thank you to everyone you made a young boys dreams come true, he hasn’t stopped telling everyone how he has sat in fighter and a bomber jet .
Tony Burke — Google review
Excellent spot to visit with kids. $20 for a family pass and can easily spend 60-90 minutes here with a couple toddlers (longer with older kids if you want to read all the exhibition information). You can climb into plane and helicopter cockpits, walk through older commercial airliners and experience a flight simulator. Definitely well worth a visit!
Emilio Mason — Google review
Great aviation museum with a bunch of interesting propeller and jet aircraft you can actually sit in and interact with. Great for kids and adults. Value for money and worth a look if you're in the area or a lover of aviation. Great way to spend a few hours.
Michael Cassar — Google review
We were within walking distance to the museum so decided to visit. Huge number of aircraft there with lots of information about them. Interesting stories plus loads of facts and figures for geeks. Lots of info about their use in wartime.
Chris Moss — Google review
Amazing museum with great selection of aircraft. My daughter loved jumping into the cockpit of various aircraft and pretending to fly, as well as sitting in the 737 passenger seats and doing up her seat belt (many times). Entry is $10 - a bargain really and free for under 5’s. She talked about it all night afterwards. Also, pop to the Flight Deck bar nearby for a drink or snack afterwards. They have a garden facing the runway so you can watch the planes come and go while having a drink.

DFO Moorabbin

Mentioned on
Outlet mall
Shopping
The DFO Moorabbin outlet mall is a great place to find discounted clothing, shoes and other items. It's open late during the Boxing Day sales period, so it's a good option if you're looking for bargains. The mall is well organized and has plenty of parking.
A great place to pick up a sale. Lots of great shops.
Gemma Johnson — Google review
First time to visit here, I loved the diversity of shops at very discounted prices. It is definitely popular - was very busy around winter . I love the cafés and small eating places as each of them has ample sitting spaces and timely cleaned . Also , the packing is plenty and free . The only issue though, is that the toilet signs are not well labeled. I got asked where the toilet is 3 times 😂. I saw the arrow then followed it myself to no where and had to ask too . Other that its a nice place and I’ll be back shopping on my next trip .
Jasmine Burton — Google review
The more local dfo: more cheap old stocks, better price, but congested parking, and stink toilets. Good for deal hunting
Nguyen Tuan Khoi — Google review
Over the years I have visited this place and scored all sorts of gear at reduced prices. This has kept me coming back again and again. Not everything is discounted, although 'sale' signs are everywhere. In addition to clothing, shoes and homewares there are eateries and coffee stops like Gloria Jean's. Parking can be tricky at busy times. My recent visit was around lunchtime on a Sunday and I had no problem. It's definitely worth a look as an alternative to regular shopping centres
Stephen Davies — Google review
Great place to be on a hot day. Good selection of clothing, shoes and other. Probably too late in the Boxing Day sale period as many shoes I wanted didn't have the size but will buy from their online store.
Dean Roberts — Google review
Great outlet with a good variety of shops. There are a few dining stores to choose from. However, if you require a gluten-free meal there is practically zero options. The only gluten free food I found, was a gluten free wrap from Subway.
Trish Geiran — Google review
Not a bad DFO, though it does lack compared to the other ones like South Wharf or Essendon. It’s just not as big. If you know what you’re looking for you can get a really good bargain but other than that it’s ok. The one thing they really need to improve on is their parents room. As a mum, the parents room here is abysmal. It is terribly small. I went to 2 of the 4 and they were both the same size. It doesn’t have a feeding room so you have no privacy when feeding your little one. Which can be very uncomfortable when dads are going in and out with their children. Also when the doors open it stays open for a little while and everyone can peer inside and see you feeding. The room itself literally consists of one very hard plastic chair, one change space, enough room for one pram and a microwave. At the second time in the parents room, there happened to be another mum in there feeding and I could barely get my pram without having to play Tetris. It was so squished with the two prams, that another family couldn’t come use the toilets there. This is just really poor form, whoever built/designed this store did not have any consideration for parents at all. They really need to rectify this. *I’ve attached a video for reference of how small the space is.

Review: During my recent visit to DFO Moorabbin, I had a mixed experience that resulted in a four-star rating. While there were several positives, one aspect that left a negative impression was the hourly parking fee of $12. Let's start with the positives. DFO Moorabbin offers a wide selection of stores with discounted prices, making it a haven for bargain hunters. The variety of options available, from fashion to home goods, ensures that you'll find something to suit your needs. The mall is well-organized and easy to navigate, and the staff members I interacted with were friendly and helpful. However, the parking fee was a disappointment. The $12 hourly charge adds up quickly, especially if you plan to spend a considerable amount of time at the mall. While I understand the need for parking fees to cover maintenance and security, it would have been more customer-friendly to offer a more affordable or discounted rate for extended stays. Despite this setback, I still believe that DFO Moorabbin has a lot to offer. The discounted prices and range of stores make it a worthwhile destination for those looking for a good deal. Just be mindful of the parking fees and plan your visit accordingly to avoid any surprises. In conclusion, DFO Moorabbin provides a diverse shopping experience with great discounts and friendly staff. However, the high hourly parking fee detracts from an otherwise positive experience. Consider this factor when planning your visit, and make the most of the fantastic deals available at the mall. Happy shopping!

if you plan to come to this centre to escape the elements, don't. they let you freeze with no heater in the cold, and boil with no aircon when it's hot. but they have the heating and cooling on outside of store hours... you know, for our convenience. came here for a shop, leaving with frozen fingers.
jeffrey sinclair — Google review
Little smaller than expected but it does mean you don't get so easily lost! The prices are good and it's much easier to work your way around the store. Free parking too, although trolleys would be nice!
Daniel — Google review
Was my first visit and scored an amazing deals on guess backpacks😁 it's got some decent brands. Not many food options though. When I went there wasn't much good stuff so didn't but clothing. Probably depends on the time of the year..
Apoorva Naidu — Google review
Always fun hitting the DFO to see what type of bargains you can score. Set yourself a limit and see what you can do with it. Venue is very clean, not overly crowded, and parking is ample (for now, imagine it will change as we get more COVID-normal).
Ian Aspinall — Google review
Almost all brands are here with very good discounts and food court and huge parking facilities
Shirish Parekh — Google review
Decent items but not much of a price difference from a regular store considering it’s meant to be a factory outlet. Have to walk around in circles. Needs a better food court. But has good shops.
Shivon — Google review
an okay selection of stores. the "food court" is a genuine joke. the eateries outside of the dfo are much better, please don't bother wasting your money inside the building. the book store there has good range of products. plenty of home necessity stores at a great price
kitty1616 — Google review
Its a great shopping mall with plenty of free parking, many brands with multiple collections but the food court is very small with less varieties of food No information boards too
Thaman — Google review
There are a lot of good outlets. Great deals in different shops. Easily found a parking. Clean and tidy
Abhishek luthra — Google review
Pretty good, lots of stores however it closed at 6pm even on a Thursday which is usually late night shopping. But we did manage to get some good bargains. Would definitely go again.
M K — Google review
Very happy with the exceptional customer service from Patrick. I had misplaced my receipt to exchange some pants and Patrick easily found my transaction history, which was accidentally put under another person's name, and the exchange was completed in less than 5 minutes. Awesome stuff 👍
Tyler Fenton — Google review
Came here last week and many outlets were offering 30% or 40% discounts on their items, a spill-over from Boxing Day sales. Definitely a popular place for shoppers and definitely a place to find great buys.
Nick Ng — Google review
The shopping center offers a diverse retail experience with a wide range of stores catering to various preferences. It's well-designed, spacious, and has a vibrant atmosphere, making shopping enjoyable. Ample parking and convenient amenities enhance the overall experience.
saeed moammeri — Google review
In my honest personal opinion it’s the weakest DFO in Melbourne; the Essendon, Uni Melbourne & South Wharf are better and have more on offer than this one. There are two distinct features that need improving. The first and biggest issue is the parking; it’s all over the place and there’s simply not enough to cater the volume of shoppers. The architects who drew this up got it horribly wrong. The second issue is the lack of star brands. No RM Williams, Nike, Puma, Under Armour??? And the Adidas store here doesn’t have the same quality offerings as the other outlets.
S C — Google review
Great experience of exceptional coffee and delicious carrot cake we had today at Romarios! Very friendly staff especially owner of the cafe who is a warm, cheerful man. Incredible owner & his team!! Highly recommended and will keep coming back ROMARIOS☕️
Manu Sharma — Google review
First visit to direct factory outlet in Australia. Nice shopping experience as this outlet carries quite many brands with good discount prices. We like that it has FREE parking. Can't find the design of Converse shoes that my daughter wanted at Converse store and the staff wasn't very helpful nor friendly, so we moved on to DFO south wharf Converse.

It was fun. Very friendly staff. I had a chauffeur to ride my one 😊. Thanks

Great fun, just 15 minutes is enough to have a real good go on this course. Laps take about 1m50s. Adults get full control, and with no power steering, it's hard work. For kids, they can steer, but not accelerate (steering support and acceleration is provided by instructors), so it's a slightly different experience. On site staff and driving instructors were all very helpful and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, as did both my kids 11 &13yo). Highly recommended for a quick adrenaline thrill experience!

Great for 15 to 30 mins of fun. Not much else to do onsite though
thai khuu — Google review
Had an awesome time for Father's Day! The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. The cars were really fun to drive on the tight and bumpy track, I could have gone around all day! The dual control buggies were great for the kids to really get a feel for driving rather than just being passengers. I would really recommend it, it's fun for all ages and abilities. Thanks again to all the staff for making it a great day!!
Dictate 23 — Google review
Great staff, they were really helpful. I think it was Matt who sat with me in the car, very professional. It's a fun time, not super exciting after the first couple of laps, would love a bit more speed and air over the jumps, but I guess it's not really intended for a full on experience like that. Overall it's definitely worth a visit and fun for all ages.
Ali Bashir — Google review
This was a lot of fun. I was wondering about the low speed of the vehicles but after watching a lady get into start driving and managed to drive the vehicle straight off the track, you can understand why the speed on these vehicles is limited. There is no power steering on these vehicles either which is fine by me but if you have never driven without power steering you will struggle. Make sure if you let your child take the wheel, you keep a firm grip as well. Very lovely and friendly staff and very encouraging parents and kids to have fun together. Definitely recommend for a family day.
Annette “Wheresthatgirl” — Google review
Good fun as a one off. We took the kids there using a discount voucher.....front desk didn’t know how to process it. Kids had fun. It goes super quick....but 10min was enough for primary school aged kids. Definitely visit if you’re kids lean towards the adventurous side of things.
Travis Gribbon — Google review
I was really impressed with this place. Run on day by young adults. They had so much respect for children with disabilities. They assisted by helping those who couldn't get in or out of the cars by themselves and very aware of those children who needed extra support. Well done and thank you to all for making each child have such a positive experience. They loved it. Highly recommended 😊

Great place to picnic, walk or have a run. Even in May. Lots of wildlife; saw birds & rabbits. The wetlands was amazing for a city park. I managed a 7km loop.

Awesome and friendly park to visit alone, with your family or friends. It's a wonderful and huge place full wildlife, we saw a lot of rabibits and different kinds of birds. It's very safe to everybody even for kids, with great areas to have nice picnics, with large running paths and walking tracks to do some excercise: walking, running, do some hiking or ride a bike. Also there are some barbecue areas and plenty of playgrounds to have some fun with kids

Close-in natural place, which is wonderful. Easy walking tracks. Some reeds and wetlands types of areas. No dogs allowed. Saw some heron, heard some frogs, and saw a bold fox, and a rabbit or two, running for their life. I saw less rabbits than last time, but there are signs of them all over.

Braeside Park is a special undisturbed place of nature, hidden within the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Within the four corners of this park you will find spectacular sights of flora and fauna, within its heathlands, woodlands and wetlands. You will easily forget that you are not far away from civilisation when you visit this place. Excellent for a walk, run or bike ride.

Excellent place to visit on a nice sunny day... can spend either an hour walking around or a day picnicking with friends. I came at 2pm on a Sunday and the parking was crazy; had to circle around twice till I found a space. Very kid friendly with plenty of playgrounds and things to do. I think there was one cafe on location so definitely bring your own food and drinks. Park is well maintained and curated.

Gotta love this oasis in the burbs. Paid a visit on a sunny Friday afternoon and enjoyed the serenity. I have been here on weekends when the crowds descend and you can't get a parking spot in the main carpark unless you are really early or late or damn lucky. It's a wonderful place with water wildlife, trees, a walking/running/cycling/pram-pushing track which goes all the way round the lake. There are also BBQ and picnic facilities. You can join Friends of Karkarook Park if you like caring for green spaces - this one is 15 hectares. Check it out!

Great open space and the new playground is good. Nice big track around the lake for walking, running or riding a bike. There are no bins so you need to take your own rubbish home. There is a toilet block on-site but I haven't used it yet. Finding a car park on-site can be difficult if you don't get there early enough. There are electric BBQs to use if you're into that. All up I highly recommend.
