This tour was absolutely stunning scenic experience for me and my siblings. it was a long time dream to see cathedral cove and we were finally able to experience that. This is one of the best and unique places on earth to see. Should tour on a boat as you can see a lot of caves and rock formations that you cannot see on foot (at this time of the review, cathedral cove walking trail was closed due to storm damage). Ken was very informative and funny. We got to get on the water a snorkel for sometime which was amazing. Ken goes out of the way to make this experience memorable, would definitely recommend.

One of the best experiences of our trip so far. Ken is superb in the way he manages the tour. His ability to mange the tour whilst ensuring a great customer experience was second to none. His knowledge and guidance to get great pics was special. Highly recommend this tour with a great bloke. Thank you Ken
Rob Smith — Google review
Well equipped boat and easy booking. Ken who runs the tours is a top bloke. The plan was semi flexible which is much appreciated as we were able to sneak in a quick swim. Ensure you go out on a flat day if you are sensitive to sea sickness. Bit of adventure but I never felt in danger. Highlights were NZs second largest sea cave and cathedral cove. Overall highly recommend the trip
Hugh Hucklesby — Google review
Was such a good cruise, Ken is an amazing tour guide and had some good laughs, thanks guys!

Fantastic trip around to Cathedral Cove, but that was no way the highlight of the trip. There were so many more fantastic scenery and photo opportunities .
John Bond — Google review
I highly recommend doing this tour. Ken the owner/operator makes the tour so much fun. He’s extremely knowledgeable and explained about the geology of the area and the sights etc. We did some snorkelling among fishes in the clearest water. It’s probably the best trip I’ve done. Thanks Ken for a wonderful experience.

This was an awesome boat ride! Great tour guide and amazing views. He even showed me how to use my phone camera and get better photos! I'm definitely returning!
Stephanie Caldwell — Google review
Booked in this experience and got more than I bargained for. The captain of the boat was very knowledgeable and had a very down to Earth attitude, constantly making us laugh during our trip. Got some amazing breathtaking pictures, plenty of opportunities to do so. Definitely great value for what you pay for. I would highly recommend for everyone to give this a go.
Ali Alsaffaf — Google review
Great host and guide. Excellent local knowledge and good line in witty banter. We saw lots of interesting sights and learned about them. Snorkelling in the return journey was a thrill and well timed. Very highly recommended.

Charming displays on the history of fishing & other regional industries, plus a gift shop.
At first, I thought it was a tiny museum from looking at the front. But once inside it was impressive, large and shows a comprehensive collection of history items. There are also small and large real stuffed animals. Entrance is paid, but free for children. Enjoyed every minute of it. Worth visiting.
Mauricio Kimura — Google review
Lovely small museum about the history of the area. Inexpensive and nicely laid out.

Unexpectedly fantastic. We were trying to escape the rain and wandered into Mercury Bay museum. We had 7 children with us who really enjoyed the activities and history. Great way to spend a few hours and learn about this beautiful part of the world.

We have visited the Museum many times in the last 3 years with our grandchildren, now nearly 6 & 8 respectively. On a rainy day today we visited again and the upgrades and additional exhibits are fantastic. This Museum is an absolute jewel that holds fascination for all ages. Thoroughly recommended.

The Lost Spring, located in Whitianga, is a luxurious retreat offering geothermal mineral pools and spa facilities. The pools have temperatures ranging from 32C to 41C, providing a soothing experience for visitors. This unique spot is ideal for unwinding after exploring the Coromandel region. With sculpted pools, waterfalls, and a smoking volcano, The Lost Spring offers a one-of-a-kind thermal hot water and spa experience that shouldn't be missed.
My partner and I purchased romance duo package and couldn’t recommend it enough. The cocktails and antipasto platters were delicious. The poolside service was second to none! Our evening massage left us feeling extremely relaxed. Huge compliments to the staff and therapists. We will definitely be returning!!
Mikey — Google review
So luxurious! Even in the middle of winter these hot pools are a delight. They are so well done with heaps of different zones to discover and relax in all with varying temperatures. It feels like you are surrounded in nature. You pay extra for towel hire and a locker, or you can just stash your stuff nearby to your chosen possy. There is poolside service for drinks and platters and the restaurant is divine. You need to book way in advance to secure a day spa spot as they are so popular.
Rebecca Meffin — Google review
Best hot pool in NZ by far. Great for couples or groups. Swim up bar has the best cocktails. Amethyst cave is gorgeous but the lava pools are the only ones really hot enough in winter. The whole place is just magical, cleansing and reviving. My fav recommendation.
Joy Jackson — Google review
This place is such a gem 💎 My partner decided to book a break dip and dine. We had an incredible breakfast overlooking the water. The food was delicious! We then did a 2 hour dip through the relaxing waters, walking through caves and in awe of the nature surrounding. We felt genuinely detoxed after. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone 👌🏼

A fabulous place to visit is very tropical reminds me of Balli. The hot pools are relaxing to soak in. Cold drinks,.cocktails and a platter of food can be enjoyed while soaking in the pools. Also a restaurant our lunch was delicious. Highly recommend

On holiday in Whitianga and found this jewel! I had pain in my shoulder and Desy did an Indian head and shoulder massage that was perfect and helped with the pain. The place is very quaint a hidden gem in a neighborhood. It is having some renovations at the moment. But such a unique and beautiful place! Highly recommend!! Staff very pleasant and kind

Get transported into a beautiful serene paradise as you walk in! You're greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. There is plenty of information on the desk too if you're awkward and do not want to ask a lot of questions. But don't stress, the staff are helpful and will guide you. I really enjoyed my time here, although not long. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, I didn't want to leave! The cocktails on menu are recently sized, I only treated myself to a snack of fries which arrived to me poolside. I love how you can order cocktails while you enjoy soaking in the many pools. The service was excellent, I'll have to plan a day trip to try the spa treatments next time! I'll be back for sure.
Katherine Sivoravong — Google review
A gorgeous oasis that provides an idyllic sanctuary from the summer sun. A variety of pools to soak in with poolside service offering a quenching cocktail to enjoy. We expected the restaurant to be an afterthought rather than a standout but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the food was one of the highlights of our Whitianga stay. Of particular note was the garlic bread - chosen on a whim but proved to be one of the most delicious things I’ve tasted. Excellent mains, well presented and full of flavour, we’re finished off with a deconstructed affogato. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the Coromandel.
Mitchell Bidois — Google review

Paradise in the middle of town! Amazing creation of a place to escape to enjoy stunning pools, gorgeous plants, and fascinating rock forms. That was before the pampering. Oh my! Two and a half hours of heaven getting a foot scrub, full body massage, and facial while listening to the trickle of the water flowing and feeling the gentle breeze left us breathless

We were looked after by the staff and the vibe was relaxed. Great couples massage and I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to relax and treat themselves. Food was delicious, I had seafood chowder and it was one of the better ones I've had.
Maria Preston — Google review
Had been wanting to tick this place off the list for ages, was so disappointed. Definitely a tourist trap. Felt like it was highly over priced. Have been to many hot pool and unfortunately this one doesn't compare to some others. The effort that has gone into making the pools and caves is incredible though. If you haven't been then I'd recommend to go just to say been there done that.

Escape to a tropical oasis at this hot pools nestled within lush jungle foliage and caves. Immerse yourself in relaxation as you soak in the warm waters while sipping on refreshing drinks. The ambiance is enchanting, transporting you to a serene paradise where tranquility reigns supreme. Whether you're seeking a romantic retreat or a peaceful solo getaway, this destination promises an unforgettable experience amidst nature's embrace.
Miguel Di Minico — Google review
Highly recommended spa in Whitianga. It offered a decent coffee and breakfast, as well as some of the best service of all the spas I visited this month. This spa serves alcohol and food while in the spa too, so you can enjoy cocktails, wines, and finger foods whilst being the water. Many spas are alcohol and food free zones so this makes a great difference in the market. The spa is partially sheltered which means it can be difficult to enjoy the crater pool in the summer for too long, however the cave makes a great cool retreat. Highly recommend for a nice, relaxing day.
Kera Wong — Google review
This place was fabulous. We had a beer and finger foods at the spa pools. There were classic musicians over the water. The place looked like a tropical island and very summery. Bottles of lemon, orange waters next to the spa pools, which was very thoughtful. The shower room was so tidy and flash. I had a spa in the cave with cool LED lights as well. It was just amazing. I will come back with my family one day.
Jinah Lee — Google review
This place is a Wonderland with a selection of pools of different shapes with a variety of temperatures set in a Tropical Setting. The Staff are always on hand to take drink and Snack orders. There is nothing nicer than wandering around the pool with Cocktail in hand.
Andrew Pharazyn — Google review
Beautiful setting with native plants and Pacifica themed areas. We did the pool and platter combo, comes with a free cocktail, towels, robe and 2 hour pool dip. $130 per person. Luxury end of the market. Good service with poolside drinks and food brought to you. The owner is very friendly. Not good for those with walking disabilities as uneven ground and steps into pools.

I can't remember the amount of times I've been at Whitianga Wharf. You can catch the ferry from here across to Ferry Landing where you can explore "the other side". Or just walk up and down to see what local fisherman have caught. Some people even do a spot of fishing off the wharf and are lucky!

Our group of 16 ladies thoroughly enjoyed this course which was in excellent order. The greens were lightening fast. We were made very welcome by the friendly staff. An easy walking course with a good mixture of straightforward holes and some strategic holes where you have to be in the right spot in the fairway to attack the pins.

Excellent coffee and incredible service! It's easy to see why this place is so popular, they have really lovely staff, and brilliant systems - our coffee usually arrives almost before we have sat down. We love the breakfast sausages, and our food is always perfectly cooked. Super clean too and a great view to top it off.

Lovely location right on the water. Food was good for the price and coffee was just okay. Very popular spot and nice to see it's pet friendly. Staff were great and service was quick. Parking can be scarce because there's another busy cafe right next door.

The quickest service I’ve had in an Australian or New Zealand cafe! And accurate too - an excellent large single shot skinny latte extra hot with a sleeve (amazing how many places get this order wrong) and delicious brownie. Wow, what a dining experience. Called in to The Espry Cafe for brunch, along with many others, place was packed, alive with the sounds of earnest conversation, kāwhe's being made, and food being prepared. Ample seating inside and out, although with light rain falling, most were inside, lovely decorated with Christmas decorations. Cabinet food looked delicious and hard to pass by, so I got a cheesecake lollie dessert, along with an open steak sandwich, ultimate Espy smoothie, and a cappuccino with chocolate. Kai was delicious, steak melted in my mouth, and salad was lovely. Kāwhe was well made, and I loved the additional chocolate fish. The Espy smoothie was huge and the best smoothie I've had in a long time. A perfect dining experience, if you're in Whitianga or surrounds (I caught the ferry across from Ferry Landing, Cooks Beach), it's well worth the visit, you won't be disappointed, I wasn't.
Pete Armstrong — Google review
We had breakfast before leaving the area. It was included as part of the tour I was doing but seemed good value. There were good options and I enjoyed the waffles and hot chocolate. I didn't think it was too early to have ice cream!
Kishan Patel — Google review
Returning to Espy Cafe after so many years was like returning to visit an old friend. Menu selection was very good with some vegetarian options. Staff were super friendly and service was super quick - our teas arrived about as soon as we had sat down! Our meals arrived a few minutes later. Mine was the Blokes Breakfast whilst my sister's was the Corn Fritters. Both were superb. Very noticeable was how quickly tables were cleared of used plates, cups and cutlery then given a good clean including chairs. Still my favourite Cafe in Whitianga with its great location, great food and superb service.

Stoked Bar & Grill in Whitianga is a family-friendly restaurant with a waterfront location, offering stunning views. It provides a special dining experience with a carefully crafted 4-course set menu featuring seasonal garden produce and New Zealand artisan food suppliers. The restaurant also offers a complimentary welcome drink on arrival. With its relaxed atmosphere, it's an ideal place for family dinners or lunches while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Whitianga.
We stopped in at Stoked specifically for the green lipped mussels today and we weren't disappointed. We absolutely loved the mussels, the coconut curry sauce, and the bread for dipping. The chips were chunky and perfectly cooked as well. We had an amazing view of the beach and really enjoyed a drink with good food and view. My only gripe is the robo menu as it was a pain to order and we kept having to go back and make corrections. Overall staff were incredibly friendly and went the extra mile regardless. Honestly though, ditch the robo order system.

Awesome steak. Came with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms which were delicious and such a good alternative to the usual boring pub salad with snotty dressing. Chips were superb and real potatoes. Nothing left on our plates. The tablet ordering system worked well and meant we could order as we wanted and didn't need to catch the eye of wait staff. Beers and Aperol spritz were excellent too, and super friendly service! Great vibes and good music on a sunny day under an umbrella overlooking the water. Thank you! 🙏

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Stoked Restaurant on the Esplanade in Whitianga as part of a package trip with Air Auckland. The restaurant boasts a modern and stylish decor, with a perfect location overlooking the beach and bay. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. The food was of top quality, with generous portions that were both delicious and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the tempura prawns and can't wait to have them again. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, and the drinks were very reasonably priced. Overall, I highly recommend Stoked Restaurant for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience in Whitianga. The stunning location, delicious food, and attentive service make it a must-visit destination.

We both went for the steak meal, which I think was very pricey. Around the high $30 mark, possibly closer to $40, then $30. Small meal, steak, chips & tomato. The steak was cooked beautifully (re: photo). Came with garlic butter & aioli was an extra. Our 6 year old had a kids burger meal, which she demolished in record time 🤣 & we all had a drink. All up, it cost $138. The outlook is lovely over the beach, so if you like people watching, great spot for that. We found the general vibe, feel & service is very same same average.

ordering via tablet was nice and easy, drinks and food came quickly. i accidentally ordered the grilled halloumi meal instead of the chicken parmigiana and was so surprised at how delicious it was. i'm definitely not vegetarian but honestly didn't miss the meat here, the grilled halloumi was so delicious and so was the salad with it (rare to get a good accompanying salad in most places). husband got the fried chicken burger with chips and loved that. great panhead pazy ale on tap too 👌🌞

Everytime we are in Whiti we go to stoked. Every time is yum… (my daughter and I generally order the same faves) - but this time was especially yum! The fattest juiciest coro mussels, perfectly cooked steak with fresh sides and just the best coconut panacotta. 10/10. Stoked at stoked always
Aimee Clarke — Google review
Found the service impeccable! Staff were super kind and our mains were ready within about 10 minutes?! Positioned right on the waterfront with amazing views. The only this is that the food is extremely expensive eg: $32 for a salad with plain tofu, lettuce, pumpkin and corn and $32 for fish and chips. However considering how nice the overall experience was and being right on the waterfront, I do understand the pricing, but just something to keep in mind when visiting for the first time.

We had an awesome Sunday evening celebrating our wedding anniversary and Mum’s 69th birthday. The atmosphere is excellent, service quick and friendly and the food was amazing! We all thoroughly enjoyed all the different starters, mains, desserts and drinks we had. The vegetarian options are particularly amazing here. Special thanks to Rebekah for securing us a table for our group of 7 on what was a busy night in Whitianga. Highly recommend this place, we were nothing short of stoked with our meal and the whole dining experience. Can’t wait to go back next time we are in town!

Lovely service. Amazing food filled with so much flavor. By far the best Indian meal I've had.

Really would NOT recommend! Very clueless on customer service, waiters were leaning on counter and chatting whilst there was drinks to be topped. We waited over 1 hour and 45 minutes for a meal that I could of made better myself. The mains were well over priced for the amount there was. For example, we only received 3 small pieces of chicken about the size of a $2 coin in our main that cost $32. It’s a Joke! Totally understand it’s a busy time of year but if you are a local here, surely you know this and could better prepare your business?
Emily Wilkins — Google review
I highly recommend this restaurant. I had Lamb Sagwalla and was hesitating between mild and medium hot. The chef managed to bring out flavors beautifully without the meal being too hot. Lamb was tender and succulent. Only downside at all - the Syrah had been too long opened - the food made up for that. My daughter fully enjoyed the vegetarian dish she chose

Absolutely terrible experience! The food was a disaster - we've never tasted anything worse. The dining experience itself was just average. We made the mistake of ordering chicken tikka and Malai chicken. The chicken seemed far from fresh, and to make matters worse, they apparently tried to pass off the same chicken tikka as Malai chicken by drowning it in some fake-looking gravy. It's clear that they have zero regard for the quality of their offerings or their customers' satisfaction. Steer clear if you value your taste buds and sanity! Won't recommend anyone!

This is a great Indian restaurant in Whitianga. I went with a large group of people this was not an issue with the staff and the service was fantastic. Within the group we had a wide range of different meals and entrees all of them were well-presented came out together and were very well received. These meals were excellent value and good quality. This the restaurant I could recommend to return to.

Loved the look of the menu and was not disappointed at all. We loved the vegetarian mixed entree, then adored the goat curry and lamb saagwala. Great atmosphere, friendly service, highly recommend

Joke of a place, waited 1.5 hours for our meals without having any update on how far our food was. We didn't even get told one of our meals wasn't available until roughly 20mins into waiting. Absolutely shocking. No single care for what people had planned after to do as we also had dessert planned somewhere else which we couldn't do due to the owners incompetence. Being the owner, duty manager, trainer and cook is not a smart way to run a business. Learn to deligate a few roles and you may cut the wait time down.

It's a shame that the great work in the kitchen is being completely tarnished by the service. Immediately, we'll praise the food here as being uniquely flavourful and super authentic, maybe the most we've found in NZ. They know what they're doing, undoubtedly. We excitedly made our way here right after we arrived on holiday since it was similar last time - fantastic food, relatively poor service. This time, the service completely botched the experience. The staff either couldn't be bothered, were inexperienced or don't like their jobs - all the above, at least, it seemed from their demeanor. One of them dropped a dish with tomato sauce (or something alike) and a lot of it fell on my new light-coloured shorts. All three servers saw this, especially the one who dropped it and multiple times so - it was very evident the amount of sauce that fell. Even some customers saw it, too. Literally none of them apologized or cared to address anything. It could've never happened, they way they didn't respond. The closest was one of them offering me a dirty/used surface-cleaning rag which I declined because of obvious reasons. No tissues, no mention, absolutely nothing. I wasn't about to ask for an apology because what's the point then. No basic human decency? I understand it's not the establishment's job to teach that but from a professional standpoint, that's shameful. It's the principle of the thing. I can buy new clothes but why would I ever want to put up with such frustratingly inconsiderate nonsense. The wait time was also unreasonably long. They were quite busy around when our entrees were being served, so that's understandable. But to take about 45 minutes for two mains to arrive is a joke when the larger tables left. And once again, a complete lack of care from a service standpoint. They couldn't even give half a toss to fake a "hey, we're sorry/thanks for your patience". The most basic of customer service skills. Nope. Too much to expect. Only positive, the lady did bring us the extra naans we'd asked if would take long, in less than a minute. Very pleasantly surprised. That was solid. Entrees didn't take too long, either, no worries there.

2 hour wait, arrived at 7:30pm, food arrived at 9:15pm. Our kids started to fall asleep. Food was less than average. Unable to cater to a deadly nut free allergy, put nut food in front of our child to eat after being explained of the deadly allergy. Worst tasting indian food in my life. It’s unfortunate and a shame as two years ago we had an amazing experience. Wouldn’t go back again!!

Wow! What a turn around... Had avoided the place for years as had walked out many years ago after waiting for service. Pleased to say after a dine in for six adults last Saturday it was fantastic. Fast friendly service, authentic Indian meals. Absolutely brilliant night out. Will be back.

We ordered dinner for 60 adults from Atul and the Team at Sangam Indian Cuisine. It was absolutely delicious, great portions, full of flavour and spice, packaged beautifully and was still warm when we received it. Because we were staying in Flaxmilly Bay across the harbour, Atul arranged to meet us at the Ferry with our order so it was still hot, when we served our guests. They went the extra mile and the food was EXCELLENT. We recommend Sangam and we would definitely order from them again. Well done Sangam!

The food was great. Lamb kabobs are tender and delicious. Had the chicken tiki masala and it was fantastic. Wrapped it all up in a garlic and cheese nan. We took our order to go and sat on a bench near the wharf. Good food, great service. I recommend for those weary travelers making their way through NZ.

A very beautiful restaurant. We came across this place while walking down the street. Thought to try it out. We did not regret it. The food and atmosphere was amazing. I ordered a chicken fried rice and my partner got mushroom masala and butter naan. All were delicious. The naan was soft and full of flavour and the mushroom masala was absolutely amazing. The fried rice was full of flavour and nicely spiced just how I wanted it . Highly recommend this place

First time trying this one as others we’ve been to were shut …and we won’t be back. Service was terrible. I get it’s mostly summer teens working but they really didn’t look like they wanted to be there. Miserable in fact. Girl putting cutlery out never even realised we had none. Finally ordered and meals came out. No cutlery. We took some off next table to us as we were ignored. Teen commented empty tables should be a clue but We were prepared to bypass that to try it. Drinks were tiny. Lassi had sprinkles and caramel on it…weird. Hubbys ginger beer was likely half a can. Had ordered mild for all of us but both the butter and tikka chicken dishes were spicy. We threw down two bottles of water to help eat it. We order mild for a reason!. Had to ask for an extra rice as one small pot wasn’t enough for three of us eating mains. Hubbys korma was honestly the worst I’ve ever tasted. Naan was the best part. It was ok. Terrible; service and terrible food not worth the $106 for three charged at all. Better food at a mall food court.

It was the worst indian food I've tried in NZ. The ambiance was good and attaracted us to try the food. Please try "That Curry Place" instead, the food there is much better. My stomach felt weird after having the food at this place.

Absolute rubbish experience. You get your food 2hrs later. If you try to talk to the staff they will argue. Food was not worth it. Also, don’t go there if you have allergies.

I had come here with my partner, and all I can say is great things. Service and food were both of a very high standard. From the curries to fried rice to Naan and Lassi. Everything was exquisite, we'd both like to highly recommend and thank this restaurant

Terrible service! We waited 40 minutes past the time we had ordered it for so we were hoping that the food would at least make up for the wait. Unfortunately we were wrong and the food was below average. It tasted like it was from the frozen section of a supermarket - no flavour and watery. Would not recommend at all.

Best hot pool in NZ by far. Great for couples or groups. Swim up bar has the best cocktails. Amethyst cave is gorgeous but the lava pools are the only ones really hot enough in winter. The whole place is just magical, cleansing and reviving. My fav recommendation.

Paradise in the middle of town! Amazing creation of a place to escape to enjoy stunning pools, gorgeous plants, and fascinating rock forms. That was before the pampering. Oh my!

This place is a Wonderland with a selection of pools of different shapes with a variety of temperatures set in a Tropical Setting. The Staff are always on hand to take drink and Snack orders. There is nothing nicer than wandering around the pool with Cocktail in hand.

Thai restaurant
The House of Chang Thai offers an authentic taste of Thailand, providing a quiet dining experience for couples or ample space for larger groups and families. Whether dining in or taking away, patrons can savor the flavors at home or on the beach. The restaurant is known for its well-prepared dishes, such as Pad Thai with options like chicken and vegetarian. Visitors recommend arriving early to avoid wait times.
Great food and good service despite us going in late in the week. Duck curry was good, pad thai and basil stir fry too!! Better than the rating is has currently imo. Cheers

19/3/22. Can honestly say that this is the worst Thai food that I have ever eaten. The satay sauce was devoid of taste. The chicken in the satay and the main dish was so overcooked it was inedible. Grey looking. Like it had been reheated in the microwave. Supposed to be a sizzle plate dish. No colour on anything. I bit of watery soy sauce at the bottom of the dish. Also, nearly ninety dollars for two starters and mains, we did not have drinks. I've eaten here in 2019 and 2017. Was fantastic then. Must have changed management. Wait staff polite, but no interest in wether we enjoyed our food or not. Given it one star. Would like to give it zero

I dined here with three others last Saturday around 8pm after being turned away by at least four other restaurants. We all ordered the Pad Thai (2 with Chicken, 2 Vegetarian) and it was hands down the best Pad Thai I have ever had. Large portion and full of flavor. The trick with any restaurant in Whitianga is to have an early dinner - anything after 7.30pm and you're in trouble.

Stopped in for dinner. I had the Gaeng Gouy (Banana yellow curry) and this is quite possibly the best curry I’ve ever had! I’d highly recommend this place and the curry!

We have dined here many times and did so 2 weeks ago. It's a family-owned upstairs licensed restaurant with lovely Thai decor that looks out across Whitianga main street, and gives a peek of the harbour. The food is always tasty and beautifully presented, and the menu features the usual Thai favourites that are available for lunch and dinner. Service is good and staff are ultra-polite and attentive. In my view Chang Thai deserves a rating of 4.5.
Phil Drane — Google review
The food is well presented and it has an okay taste. It is not the worst Thai we have had, but paying nearly $30 for a Thai main, and $14 for two satay chicken sticks for entreee is well, well, overpriced. Service was quick though. Overall, fairly disappointing.

Quite environment on the first floor, good for special occasions or meetings. Good authentic Thai restaurant, a hidden gem in Whitianga. If you are coming with children, might need to be sure you are not disturbing other clients. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.

Hungry Friday night with 4 friends. Mixed entree - 4 snacks of 1 each, portion too small Tom yum chicken - appetizing with mild spiciness Pad thai - noodle is slightly undercooked which makes it a bit chewy, however this texture is even better Green curry - fantastic with rice Pineapple rice - disappointed it did not served in pineapple shell but otherwise all good

Went to this restaurant with my family, had the banquet for 4 adults. I would not recommend this as when the sharing mains came 3 dishes between 4 adults, they were the same size as an individual portion but twice the price. When we asked if this was correct the staff seemed to have trouble understanding what we were asking, but had no trouble taking additional drink orders ? On the plus side the food was flavoursome, but the banquet is defiantly not value for money.

Waited 25 minutes to have our order taken, had to go up to the front to ask them to take our order, but even after asking it took them another 10 minutes! They then served customers that had arrived after us instead. We then waited 30 minutes for our one main and one side dish. The food was okay taste wise but the noodles were too soggy and a very small portion size for 30 dollars?!? Instead of a lemon wedge for pad Thai they gave us an orange slice 😂. The spring rolls were 15 dollars for 4 and tiny! Shouldn’t have to wait this long for food that’s tiny portioned and extremely overpriced. Poor service :(

Stopped into town after a long day of driving. Stumbled upon this restaurant and glad we did. Got sat at a great table outside with a great view of the town. Ordered the Massaman Chicken Curry and it did not disappoint the spice with just the right amount chicken was cooked well. Would definitely go back again.
