Cafe
Two Fat Chefs is a modest cafe that offers more space inside than expected. The cuisine served here is both generous and delectable, catering to breakfast, lunch, and teatime options. Customers can either dine in or choose from the takeaway cabinet. This establishment has gained popularity among the local retired community, making it occasionally challenging to secure a seat. However, those fortunate enough to experience it will understand why they keep returning.
Wow, such a great cafe. First time visiting and the food was perfectly cooked, tasty and the coffee was so good. Service was amazing by all the staff. Will definitely be visiting this place again!

Loved the breakfast tortilla, big breakfast also looked nice and apparently the vegetarian and vegan stacks also good. Decent coffee. Great service, very friendly staff. Reasonable prices.

One of the best breakfast spots I've been to. Not on the cheap end of the scale, but the top notch quality and size of the servings, and the friendliness of the staff, make it fantastic value for money. Quick service even when really busy. Couldn't recommend more highly.
Matt Cooper — Google review
I had a lovely pulled pork wrap this morning. Pulled pork is my favourite and this is the best pulled pork I've ever had. All meals were very filling and tasty, beautiful scrambled eggs too. Wonderful staff, wonderful service and wonderful food. Bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it as the food and service were absolutely amazing. We will be back for sure.

A rather unassuming cafe from the outside, two fat chefs has more space inside than you may think. The food here is generous and delicious. Sit down for breakfast, lunch or teas or take away food from their cabinet. The local retired community has discovered this place, so you may find it difficult to get a seat at times. But if you can get in, you'll discover why they keep coming back.

Such a fantastic surprise when I opened the lid on my super tasty takeaway spicy chicken wrap from their cabinet selection. And all this for only $13.50!! The 2 guys at the front of house were so friendly and made me feel very welcome while waiting for it to be toasted. Another fab go to while visiting Kapiti. Very impressed and highly recommend. Their menu looks delicious. Thanks team!

Well worth the money. Everyone was highly impressed. Eggs Montreal with extra salmon. Fantastic. Big breakfast now with optional black pudding and kranskys hiding! Best big brekky on the coast!

First time in Paraparaumu, literally googled best cafés and found this place! We were not disappointed, they were super busy but our food came out really quickly. Great service, great coffee and amazing fresh food, plenty of menu and cabinet options, we will 100% be back. Thanks team 😁

We come here semi regularly and we always receive quality and consistant food and service. Good serving sizes too.

We stopped for coffee and cabinet food. Delicious on all fronts and very attentive staff who made us feel welcome. Loved it and will be back! Super popular, I'd definitely recommend booking!!

Lovely food. Drinks were good. Not the cheapest, but well worth it. Great burger with nice buns. Roasted cauliflower also very good. 20 minute wait for food, but it was boxing day. A great find. Will come back again

Took my daughter for her birthday brunch yesterday. Wonderful friendly staff, lovely food (big servings and very reasonably priced). We had the Chef's big breakfast and waffles with maple syrup, banana and bacon. Fantastic coffee (Flight) and an all-round great cafe! Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch 😊

On Monday night, a couple visited Soprano Ristorante for the first time in over a year. Under new management, they were uncertain about what to expect. However, they found that the menu was surprisingly similar and the Head chef had previously worked with the previous chef. They ordered garlic bread, calamari, beef cheek cannelloni, and chicken and mushroom fettuccine. Each dish was excellent and some of the best Italian cuisine they had ever tasted.
My wife and I dined there on Monday night for the first time in over a year and since new management. I had no idea what to expect, but the menu was remarkably similar and the Head chef used to work with the previous chef. We had garlic bread, calamari, beef cheek cannelloni and chicken and mushroom fettuccine. All of them were superb and some of the finest Italian food I have tasted. The salad that came with the cannelloni was exceptional. I do not often get excited about a salad, but the perfect balance of ingredients and dressing perfectly offset the richness of the beef cheek. All in all a superb dining experience and I will be back without hesitation. Thanks for a great food experience.

Nice quaint restaurant in a good location. Staff were in general helpful and friendly. There were some planning issues with seating and menus for our group who booked in advance. The food was pretty good. Presented very well, and tasted nice.
Luca van Gorkom — Google review
Fairly average service. Slow and not overly attentive. At one point I had the go and find the wait staff for a drink. Food was ok, but not outstanding. The Mariara was particularly disappointing - very bland and lacked a good stock in the preparation. The duck was the winner on the night.
Greg Durkin — Google review
Attentive service. Had Masala Chicken, not on menu, but done as a special - was outstanding. Desert, trio of sorbet was delightful. Certainly will go back.

We had a great time eating here. Everybody enjoyed the food and the service was wonderful. It was a little pricey for me but very nice
Jeff Bush — Google review
Food was fantastic, best meal I have had in NZ. Lamb was cooked to perfection, paired with roasted root vegetables that had a wonderful, natural glaze. Roasted potatoes lightly browned, creamy on the inside. The pork belly was also very nicely done, the mash hearty and flavorful. Cabbage provided a nice counter-point. Highly recommended.

looks like the chef's understanding of median for the eyes rib steak is different with me, but the side potato and vegetables are taste good.

Beautifully presented and a nice array of seafood but a little under seasoned. We will definitely return as we have had better meals here previously. Pleasant staff as usual. BYO is a plus!

Lovely food. Lovely atmosphere. Exceptional menu and seating. Staff were well-mannered and prompt, and didn't leave us feeling like our table didn't matter. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great italian not too far from the beach.

Our first time at Sopranos, we had seen good reviews and heard good things about them from others .... we were not disappointed! The service was excellent, the young waitress was friendly, attentive, efficient and knew what she was doing. The food, well let's say it was simply divine. Wait times were about right, the portion sizes right not too big or small. The flavours, spot on. Every flavour came through as it should with nothing over powering others. The price was reasonable for the quality and service. We left very satisfied with our dining experience. Thank you Sopranos 😊

Takeout Restaurant
A group of individuals have enthusiastically recommended Thai Lagoon Restaurant, expressing their utmost satisfaction with the overall experience. The exceptional service and delectable cuisine left a lasting impression on them. Even those typically uninterested in Thai food found themselves enamored by the dishes served here. The restaurant's charming ambiance further enhanced their dining pleasure, and they were particularly impressed by the prompt delivery of their meals. Based on their overwhelmingly positive encounter, it is highly likely that they will revisit this establishment in the future.
Have never had a bad dish! Food is so delicious and service is always so friendly. Cannot recommend enough

Welcoming staff who allowed you to choose at your own pace. Food was excellent and it was nice to see the menu showed different types of heat other than by one two or three chillies. For the first time saw the words ‘Kiwi hot’ which I found, having lived in SE Asia, to be mildly hot and suitable for Kiwi palates. Will visit again.

Went here for dinner with the family after reading reviews but we left disappointed. Ordered Green Chicken Curry, roti and Chicken Pad Thai the 2 most basic and well known Thai meals in NZ. The curry had good flavour and an reasonable amount of chicken but lacked vegetables aside from a couple of pieces of broccoli it was all just green beans. The Pad Thai unfortunately was inedible as it was so sweet even my young daughter who loves deserts couldn't eat it. The roti was the star of the meal. The place could also do with a good clean, looking behind the bar and the into the kitchen was off putting. Service by the FOH staff was good.

Several people we know recommended this restaurant & we are so glad we went. First of all the service was outstanding and second the food was out of this world good. And my partner doesn't usually eat Thai and he loved the food here. The atmosphere of this restaurant is really pretty & the delivery of food was so quick. I have a feeling we will be back at this restaurant sometime in the future. We were really impressed and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

I have eaten there on many occasions and never been disappointed. Their Massaman curry remains up there as one of the best I have ever encountered in any restaurant. I was so impressed with our meal on Saturday it was time to give credit where credit is well due. The entrée Tom Kai soup , which I have tried before, was sensational. A perfect balance of sweet and sour, coconut, subtle lemon grass, mushroom and chicken. My wife and I were supposed to be "sharing" it but it was so delicious the "sharing" became a bit intense and next time we will be forced to have one each to maintain matrimonial bliss!. My duck curry was superb with lychees, pineapple and grapes and yet again a perfect balance of flavours. The cashew stir fry had smoky wok flavours and intense, well balanced sauce.. Service was very pleasant and attentive and I could not fault the entire experience. It is my go to Thai restaurant for entertaining. It is always consistently good and well worthy of a 5 star rating. BYO is a nice plus too.Very well done team.

Italian restaurant
Passo Pizza Pasta Caffe' in Kapiti offers an authentic Italian dining experience, with a team of six Italian staff and an experienced chef from Sicily. The restaurant serves delicious pasta dishes made with genuine Italian ingredients such as guanciale, ensuring the flavors are true to the cuisine. Their pizzas are exceptional, comparable to those found in Naples, thanks to their flavorful tomato bases. The chili oil provided on the tables adds a spicy kick and enhances the overall taste.
Was introduced to this place for a works meal, and honestly I’ll never rue that day! Went back again a week later. The pasta is how it should be, the flavours and ingredients authentic to Italian cuisine (like using guanciale). The pizzas are spot on, amongst the best I’ve had (and I’ve had them in Naples) - the tomato bases have so much flavour in them. The chilli oil on the tables is hot, and delicious. Warmed olives was a new one for me and it is my new favourite thing! The tiramisu and gelato were perfect.

An excellent Italian restaurant, in the middle of New Zealand, the owner of the place is an amazing Italian, the food is so delicious and meticulously prepared, one of the best I've ever eaten in my life, courteous, inviting and smiling service, in short, run to the restaurant and thank me afterwards

5 stars all around, I came to Passo Kapiti this evening for dinner. the iced chocolates are amazing especially on a hot day like today. Food was great, the service was lovely and the Atmosphere was amazing. The cleanliness of the place was great too and the staff were amazing as well. I especially loved the art hanging on the wall, there was a lovely mural filled with colour and there was also some amazing abstract art made out of copper wire. All the art work made the place look great, would definitely come back!

Wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The service was great, although it declined a little as the restaurant got busy. The food was excellent. We had the olives & arancini for entrees. Both were really good. Seafood marinara and pizza for mains. Again, both really good. We’ll definitely be back!

We took the new highway - Transmission Gully and dined at Passo last night. The ambience, the decor was so cosy and friendly. Their new menu was such a delight as there was such a huge range of pasta and pizzas to choose from. My husband & I started with their pizza garlic bread. It was so satisfying and huge 🍕. For our mains, I ordered a vegetarian tomato based pasta and my husband ordered prawns pasta in white sauce. It was such a good portion and the taste was so authentic. Can easily say one of the best 👌 pasta we've eaten so far. For dessert I had to order their creme bruleé, and my husband had the traditional Italian super sweet cake - the cassata 😋. We had a really good time and our total was $105 including drinks. Our service was prompt and smooth. We will be back for some more Italian food ❤️

Have eaten at Passo many times in person and also ordered delivery three times now. Was most pleased with our order tonight, feeding a family of two adults and four children we ordered a family size pizza and three pastas. Was genuinely surprised by the size of the family pizza! It was huge! My two older kids who are bottomless pits normally, were full after two slices and loved each bite. Husband and I both enjoyed our pastas and the third pasta didn't even get touched (beyond a taste test) because everyone was already full - lunch tomorrow! I was particularly impressed as I had ordered a pasta to be dairy free, and received a call to go over the allergy and if I was ok with the alteration they would make to make the dish suitable to my requirements. Overall, the food is good, service is good and we always enjoy our meals from Passo, whether we dine in or order delivery.

Wait staff were personable and talkative, Wife went with his recommendation and loved it. Outdoor seating is a bonus. Food was great and very tasty.
Michael Ekins — Google review
Food was average, the lasagna was tasty but needed more Italian herbs to make it authentic. The cost of our meal was over-the-top compared with other Italian restaurants in the ares. The service was OK but could be slicker. All up it was poor value for money.
Dr George Allan — Google review
Attentive and friendly staff were very welcoming and keen to provide a good service. We booked last minute which was fortunate as there was only one table unoccupied when we got there. Atmosphere was buzzing with chatter and laughter with music playing not too loud in the background. Food selection was good, with generous helpings that were very tasty. Plenty of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drink choices and they will also make cocktails to order. Glad we stumbled on this restaurant. Would recommend this place without hesitation. Will come again next time we are in the area.

Great local Italian restaurant. I had the wild venison salad with roasted beetroot sticks. Absolutely delicious. The pizza are good here too. Busy wee place for Saturday lunch. They also do breakfast & dinner. Friendly service. They have a gelato chiller just inside the door presumably for cones. Heaps of parking.

Had been really looking forward to going for my first time. Staff were great, but very disappointed with the food. We were a group of 8, and it wasnt busy at all. Most had nearly finished their meals when mine came out. I ordered the mushroom pasta, bland and not alot of mushrooms. Others had orderd the same meals which were very inconsistent with potions.
Jody Crosby — Google review
Great, friendly service. It was very busy on a Saturday evening. We both had pizza and found it underwhelming. The crust was dry and seemed to be made of maize flour. Tomato paste didn't seem to have any spices. Not what we expected from Italian pizzas. Also not a lot of alcohol free options. Two pages full with alcohol and just two alcohol free beers and one paragraph with juices. The desserts were delicious. Will try something else than pizza next time.
Roland Oldengarm — Google review
I went to this cafe for the first time for lunch with my 7 year old daughter. We decided to share a pizza, so between getting there, ordering and having a pizza (that was so big it was hanging over the sides of the plate!) delivered to our table was less than 15 minutes. The pizza was delicious! Definitely going back again! The pizza and two soft drinks were $32, which around the same cost as lunch for two at McDonald's. I know which I would rather have! The cafe is very well decorated with some impressive wall art and a great atmosphere with perfect background music. I'd recommend anyone to go and check this place out.

Cafe
Sunday Cantina, situated on Poplar Ave corner in Raumati South, adds vibrancy and enjoyment to the area. This eatery offers customers a range of healthy and fresh food options in a lively atmosphere. The menu provides an extensive variety of choices, with breakfast being the sole focus during that time of day. However, the remaining selection compensates for this limitation. Despite being busy, the staff efficiently managed their duties while maintaining a cheerful ambiance.
We got in touch with Fiona to cater for our little wedding and everything was incredible! The food looked and tasted so good. Highly recommend

Loved the delicious food, coffees and service! We were a group of eleven, in for lunch at noon on Friday. On arrival, it was explained that as three staff were unwell, service may take a bit longer than usual. However, we were ushered into the comfortable side room where we were very happy to chat whilst our plates were prepared. We enjoyed a choice range of delicious food from across the menu. Really appreciated the cook rustling up a delicious carrot soup special in lieu of some menu items which were unavailable, due to supply and delivery “people outages”. We had a lovely lunch, due to wonderful staff who made us feel so welcome! Your generosity of spirit and commitment to making sure our lunch date would be a special one, in face of limited staff and delivery availability were truly appreciated. Thank you!

"Absolutely delightful experience at Sunday Cantina The ambiance is charming, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is simply delicious. I highly recommend trying their signature coffee blend and indulging in one of their decadent pastries. A perfect spot for a cozy brunch or a relaxing afternoon coffee break. Can't wait to visit again!"

Fantastic fresh food. Lots of delicious things to try. Cabinet has excellent range of cakes & slices. Every table was full at Saturday brunch time. Staff know their menu well. Highly recommended.

What a delightful discovery. The menu contains a good range of choices. While the breakfast menu is definitely breakfast only, the rest of the fare on offer more than makes up for the loss. The crew were very busy the day we went, but they managed our party with calm efficiency. I had the meat pizza. Tasty, well presented and sized about right. I then tried the iced mocha. Made with oat and rice milk - that combo worked really well, not too sweet. The sun in the courtyard became a little too much to handle but that was easily mitigated with one of the nearby umbrella shades. All well worth the trip from the Wairarapa.

I’m a regular and love the food here. My original review was “Delicious food every time, thanks SC”. However in recent times the kitchen seems to close at random times. I tried to order a poke bowl today at 1.35pm & was told it’s not available. Really disappointing. I will question whether to come again if large parts of the menu are not available an hour and a half before cafe closes :( Come on SC, you can do better

Easily some of the tastiest food we’ve had in ages. Loved it. Definitely worth a quick drive up from Wellington, and with Transmission Gully open, it really is quick now, and easier parking compared to the city. Good keto options too. We’ll be back!

Super food but haven't been anywhere before where they tell you there will be a wait and it's a wait to place your order. However after 20 mins we placed our order and it came relatively quickly and was delicious . Coffee not the best slightly burnt but not bad. The staff were friendly but completely bewildered it seemed at times. The worst part was the noise level. A large table of parents and young children right next to us was unbearable and at times reached industrial heights. I really dont think it's fair to expect patrons to suffer this. There were areas that would have been better placed for them to have their table and then everyone could have enjoyed their food. We did ask to move and got a table a little further away. This was a mistake as it then threw paying into confusion. This would be so simple if the order was linked to a number given at the time of ordering rather than to the table. You could take the number with you if you have to move. An absolutely exhausting couple of hours. Sadly won't be back which is a pity as the food was delicious

Went here in a group booking on a Thursday for lunch and it was not too busy, not too quiet. Staff were friendly and pesonable. Lots of different items to choose from, great varied menu. Lunch items were generally good, but also quite high priced for what you got.

Well, that was a surprise. While visiting Raumati South shops the other day, I saw that the #sundaycantina is actually open on other days as well, LOL. So this mōrena I called in for breakfast. Atmosphere was ka pai with some good music playing, menu looked really interesting. There is plenty of seating inside and a nice area outside. The kai (cantina hash), kāwhe (cappuccino), and smoothie (mixed berry) was just what I expected, scrumptious, filling, tasty, yum.

Today i called into Sunday Catina at 2.40pm - knowing they closed at 3.30pm i knew my choices would be limited. On arrival i asked if there were any salads available and was told 'the kitchen is closed love' i said is it just whats in the cabinet 'yes love' and then immediately told 'oh and the coffee machine is off too love' I said no probs and was about to buy a scone and asked 'do you have paywave?' (as i only had my phone) and was told 'nope' - so i left. I walked across the road to the competition and brought something to eat. Times are tough and as a business owner myself i know people are watching their spending so service is a must. And with friendly competition across the road happy to take my money, keeping customers is key, im sure. I didn't appreciate being called 'love' severals times and felt like i interrupted 2 staff memebers at the counter chatting. If your business hours are open till 3.30pm on a Monday and you serve coffee and food then you should still serve food and coffee not decide at 2.40pm to partly close. Wasn't expecting a meal cooked but wasnt expecting to be a pest either.

Food is great, I miss the Mexican bowl! The last 3 times I have been here my order either: didn't come, or was missing coffees or a food item. This last weekend was a real show. We came in, told to sit down to order (apparently I wasn't allowed to order at the counter). Ten minutes later they tell us we cannot order due to another big table and we would have to wait. 10 minutes after that I'm told the table is reserved. We left and went over the road. Unsure why I keep going back. It really seemed like a hassle that we were even there.
