We arrived late on Good Friday, hadn’t been told about the office being closed but worked out we had to check in next door and walk back. The lady on call was helpful and friendly. Nice and clean, well appointed room with smart TV, cold a/c, fridge and coffee making facilities. Beds were a bit firm but that was fine. Ample close parking, walking distance to food options. Would stay here again when back in Isa.

Very hard to find the receptionist, doesn't make sense at all. Room was spacious but old. Curtain, carpet, pillows, kettle need to be replaced. And I wasn't sure what happened with the door, but it was making weird sound like someone trying to get in, but when we opened the door, nobody was there. Won't stay here again.

Updated Progressively worse service for breakfast. On multiple occasions I have been waiting for 15-20 minutes to even be acknowledged so we can start ordering. The problems only happen when the asian wait staff are not present. All of your imported help needs to pull there beads in and do better

Their food was very good and their restaurant is very good, their rooms are very good, the kitchen is the most important thing, the kitchen is very good, I like it very much, the general and their food is very good and in a good way, I recommend to other friends. Even if you come here and enjoy it, it can also happen, thank you

Staff were very polite but ordered the port cutlets and it only came out with 1, was supposed to come with a sauce but didn’t, friend got a steak and prawns and it came with the thinnest rump and 3 prawns, sauce was yum tho. Was a quiet Monday night so feel like they could have had better quality meals

Went to the Isa Hotel for dinner. Had some Barramundi with Chips. It tasted delicious. However the booth I was sat in wasn't the cleanest, and for some reason the windows were wide open. The windows being open made it slightly awkward as it let in all the heat and bugs. The staff was very generous though and closed it for me after a short while.

The meals are so poor. I've sent multiple steaks back because they are overcooked. Staff however are really friendly and super professional.

Lovely hotel in central location in Mt Isa. Friendly staff and nice rooms. A little dated, but clean and everything is at hand. Lost my tablet charger in one of the rooms and they have kindly sent it back to my home address, great customer service!

Great venue. A little more tired than the internet suggests. Wonderfully clean room - such a rare experience… Pricing was a bit outrageous but nothing was cheap in Mt Isa. Front desk service was also super - molto Obrigado!

We dined at the Redearth restaurant last night. Apparently “fine dining” means if u want garlic bread or sourdough/oil/balsamic as a starter you have to go to the adjoining pub?? It’s fine dining don’t you know!! I had the salmon which was slightly over cooked but the pumpkin it came with was so undercooked I couldn’t eat it (and I love pumpkin). My husband had the pork which was dry and tasteless and he didn’t eat much of it. When my husband said he wasn’t prepared to pay for it, the waitress told him bluntly that he’d eaten more than half of it. So he had to pay. Wow! He’d eaten one of the three portions. We don’t normally complain but felt that was unfair. We asked for the manager who seemed to listen to our story but was clearly wanting to move on. Even though we were only in town for one night he insisted on giving us a voucher for the value of the meal. We ordered a cab and there was a long wait but a lovely lady who’d just walked out of the pub must’ve heard my phone call to the cab co and offered two strangers a lift back to the caravan park. For her kindness we donated the $35 voucher. I hope her experience will be better than ours. It’s not “fine dining”!!

Room was fine, bed comfortable, but .... need new bedsheets (they were 'bobbly'), shower needed new hose, it leaked in various places and there was black mould on the sealant in the shower enclosure. Neither the room nor the stairs were hoovered during our 3 night stay. Booked it because I thought it was supposed to be the best in the Isa and it was for a special stay, but didn't really measure up to expectations.

I travel across the country for work and Gillian at reception was without a doubt the most professional, helpful and pleasant person I have ever encountered in a hotel. Whatever she's on, she deserves a payrise

Great location. Very comfortable and clean rooms.. A bar and grill with plenty of choice on menu. Nice deck bar..kids play area.. Was impressed with the overall service and friendly staff.. Great place for any travellers..
lisa cunningham — Google review
Went to the reopening of the cocktail lounge on Friday, drinks was lovely but an over an HOUR AND HALF wait on food was not, it was only 4 plates off picky stuff and one was a poor example of a cheese bored when we did get it. Though the manger did by our group of 5 a round of drinks as a sorry, even with that I still can't get over how poor the serve was. Even worse as first impression on a opening night.

I stayed here last July. Attempted to leave a review then but had a google fail, just found it again so doing so now. I've tried to think of any way in which Kayla at reception could have been more helpful, and I've drawn a blank. She's fantastic. So putting it out there publicly. As for the hotel, not sure why it comes up on Google Maps as "unfussy hotel with dining and free wifi". I think that may be meant for the Isa Hotel next door (which is owned by the same people). It's the most upmarket hotel in Mount Isa by a very long way. I booked it as I needed a hotel room with a desk to work at for a week while waiting for the NT border to open, I had no idea it was going to be so pleasant. The rooms are huge, furnished and decorated in an attempt at 30s style and comfort. Extremely comfortable bed, great bathrooms, and the restaurant downstairs is fine dining of capital city standards. I only went there once on my last night, had a long chat with the excellent chef, had I known it was going to be so good I would have gone more. It's not flawless (tip to the maintenance guy: don't ruin the ambience of the beautiful luxury rooms by randomly replacing blown bulbs with cheap cool white light bulbs, they're meant for garages, you should be using warm white and you should be using the same type of bulb and colour temperature throughout not mix & match; & tip to whoever sets up the TVs, google "soap opera effect" then get rid of it, it's unwatchable), and make sure you get a room with a balcony, but it's the most luxurious place to stay within about a thousand kilometres in any direction, and if I'm back in Mount Isa again I know where I'll be heading.

Chinese restaurant
Red Lantern Chinese Restaurant is a beautiful establishment with an inviting atmosphere and helpful employees. It caters to families with children and offers high-quality cuisine, albeit at a slightly higher price point. The scrumptious flavors justify the expense, as demonstrated by a satisfying $200 meal that included various appetizers, soups, main courses, desserts, and beverages. Sadly, the dining experience was slightly marred by understaffing, resulting in an approximately 40-minute wait time.
The best Chinese in Mt Isa.Combination Hot Pot and Special Fried Rice....Very delicious! Recently a Combination Birdsnest. Absolutely awesome dish!
Deb Jarvis — Google review
If I could rate it zero I would. I order 2 fried rice, 1 honey chicken and a sweet and sour pork. When the delivery got here I made the mistake of not checking it until I got inside. They gave me sweet and sour SAUCE and not what I asked for. When I called up to let them know they forgot a dish (very politely) and asked if they could send out my sweet and sour pork. They told me i didn’t ask for that because it’s not written on the docket and that if I wanted it I’d have to pay ANOTHER delivery fee of $10 even though they were the ones that wrote down sauce instead of pork. The boy on the phone was very rude and acted oblivious. After ages of debating over the phone they finally decided to drop the delivery fee. Waited another hour for the food to arrive. Absolutely appalling service. The customer isn’t always right but it is not my fault they didn’t write something down. Honestly disgusted

Gorgeous Decor. Very friendly staff. Child friendly. Excellent quality food that's a little pricey but the taste makes every dollar worth it. A $200 feed bought 3 x entrees, 3 x Soups, 5 x Plates (loaded), 2 Desserts and 5 x Beverages. Would have given 5star except they were short staffed so the wait was approx 40mins.

Was recommended by our hotel. Great food .. excellent special fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Would return on next visit to Mt Isa
Drew Unsworth — Google review
This is the worst Chinese we ever had and it was expensive. Prawn toast tasted like there was no prawns on it. The satay king prawns had more vegetables than prawns and it was not satay ( it was just a light sauce) very bland over cooked vegetables. The honey chicken was a lot of batter around a thumbnail of chicken. The so called Special Fried rice was not Special. We had to throw all of it out...what a waste of money🤬
Glenda Kennedy — Google review
Food was great, very rich but not lacking flavour. Service was solid, interior is very dated and old fashioned.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The satay skewers were tender perfectly cooked and delicious; prawn toast fresh and exceptionally tasty. Sticky honey chicken exactly that and the fried rice fresh and well cooked.
Elizabeth McCulloch — Google review
Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Mount Isa. I would recommend the Cantonese Roast Duck, the Singapore noodles, the Red Lantern special fried noodles and the Special Fried Rice. However do NOT dine in. Dine in prices are ridiculously expensive for the same menu item. I had the Singapore Noodles for takeout at 15.50 AUD, decided that it was good enough to have it again so ordered it to dine in and was charged a whopping 24.50AUD. Ambience of the sit in restaurant and service were definitely not enough to justify the almost 60% difference in price. 2.5 stars out of 5.

Abyssinia Cafe Restaurant is an exceptional dining establishment that offers delectable cuisine. The food is absolutely delicious and will leave you craving for more. Although the drink selection may not be extensive, they manage to make do with what they have. The attentive waiter provides excellent service, creating a pleasant atmosphere for guests. Visitors are in for a treat as they can enjoy a variety of dishes from both Indian and Ethiopian cuisines in this charmingly themed restaurant.
Excellent! The food was to die for. Not good selection of drinks, but we made do with what they had. The waiter serving was very very good! Lovely friendly young fella. I took a visitor from out of town and she said it was the best Indian she had tasted. She tried something completely different to what she eats and LOVED it. 10 out if 10 We'll be back!

Food was fantastic, definitely worth dining in or take away. Much better now than a few years back, guess that's because the kitchen is in new hands. Dining tables had real cloth.... crazy I know, but its hard to come by in Indian restaurants now days, just a nice touch. Also the chef was very nice, and friendly, and seemed passionate about his restaurant. Make sure you try them at least once, you'll probably want to go back!

Mexican restaurant
Zambrero Mount Isa is a vibrant and socially conscious fast-food chain specializing in Mexican cuisine. They prioritize humanitarian efforts and offer both dine-in and take-out options. The exceptional customer service is commendable, with a special mention for the remarkable girl behind the counter on Monday evenings. Despite running out of guacamole momentarily, she promptly resolved the issue by retrieving some from the back fridge without causing significant delays for other customers.
Phenomenal customer service and extra guacamole. Definitely win, win! Make sure you go on a Mon evening the girl behind the counter is incredible. Ran out of guacamole before my order, so she asked the other guy to get from back fridge, continue to serve me then apologise to new customers for waiting 10sec Then gave me an extra spoon because I was inconvenienced. There was so much, did not fit into container Definitely not complaining. Thanks for making me wait, definitely worth it.

The best Mexican cuisine you’ll have in Mount Isa. The fillings and slow cooked meats are extremely good quality with a diverse range of vegetarian options. Plenty of parking space to quickly park and grab a bite to eat. The decor inside is stunning, definitely admire the hanging plants attached to mason jar light bulbs. Always treated with the absolute best customer service, well done Zambrero Mount Isa. That Yamaha looks as good as my burrito
