The charming Clyde Cinema provided the perfect setting to enjoy a nostalgic film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The proprietor was amiable, and the seats were spacious, made of luxurious leather. The well-maintained restrooms were inviting with mirrors and heated chairs for chilly July evenings. With a top rating of 5/5 stars, it would be delightful to visit again from Melbourne, Australia for another cozy cinema experience.
Most comfortable seats in any cinema. A real lazy boy experience. Small cinema so book early. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.

This gorgeous little cinema was perfect to see a great nostalgia film tonight- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The owner is a friendly chap, the seats large, leather and luxurious. Toilets were very clean and inviting with mirrors and chairs with heaters nearby for these cold July evenings. 5/5 stars, when I visit again from Melbourne, Aus I'd be very happy to come again for another cosy cinema experience!
Emma Shadwick — Google review
Small local cinema with comfortable seats (blankets are available at the entrance), snack food and beers too. My husband and I really enjoy to watch movies there. Tickets are ordered online

Well, what can I say. I went to see the Pope's exorcist and the theater was really warm and had the most comfortable seating I have enjoyed in a theatre... 9pm for the viewing after a long walk and nice break at Oliver's.... Let's just say I'll have to see the movie again to find out how it finished.... Great nap. Sorry to my fellow movie goers, hopefully I didn't snore!
Kyle Forrester — Google review
The 2 star review was unintentional! This is a nice little cinema that provides a good experience - screen, sound, and seating. Very comfy. 5 stars when the liquor license is renewed.

They also boast an extensive selection of local wines, freshly baked goods (reportedly serving the finest scones in the nation), coffee, beers, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.
We enjoyed a lovely meal here on Christmas Eve. Staff are wonderful, happy to share their local knowledge with visitors. Interesting menu - the bento box was spectacular. Historic building decorated with pictures and objects of the period. A great evening out.

I’m still dreaming about the fish and chips here. The fish of the day was blue cod and wow was it flaky. The batter was not too thick and the fish was so fresh. The chowder was delicious as well. Do not skip if you’re in Clyde.
Mandy Guo — Google review
Beautiful ribs, husband enjoyed his seafood chowder. Friendly staff and a beautiful setting within the Old Post Office. Highly recommend as a place to eat when visiting Clyde.
Laura de Wys — Google review
We had been wanting to visit this place as it had such a great reputation. Finally got to visit as part of a cycling tour group. Was a set menu that had heaps of options for us. I had bluffies to start and Blue Cod as main and sticky date as desert. Amazing presentation of the dishes that tasted amazing. Attentive staff that where happy to help and advise on good options. Highly recommended

Lovely garden seating with umbrellas for shade if needed. It's not often you can say the full breakfast has every element cooked so well, very impressed :) Full breakfast, and eggs bene with salmon pictured.

Springtime in Central Otago. Blossoms everywhere, fresh snow on the hills. The Post Office had a warm log fire burning, the staff were happy and friendly, and the food and coffee were FANTASTIC

Perfect place for lunch, have a variety of choices to choose from. We bought Cajun Chicken Burger and Fish & Chips. The both were really nice. The chips was hot and flavorful. Loved it. 👍👍👍

This is a quaint old historical post office building that has been converted to a cafe and bar. Lovely and cosy inside with a fire going. Staff were friendly, but table service was a bit slow to take our orders and bring our food out. I had the keto version of the Postie Breakie, which was lovely and very nicely presented. Coffee was good too. Visited this place again about a year later and ate dinner there. We had the pork ribs and the venison hot pot - both were delicious. They also have a lovely outdoor beer garden area, which is great on a warm sunny day. They appeared to be under-staffed again as we had to prompt them to take our order. Great food though!
Haydi Foster — Google review
We had the most fabulous time, the food was amazing and reasonably priced and well presented and large meals. The staff, especially the Spicy waitress went above and beyond. We had so many laughs.
Derryn McFetridge — Google review
The food was very good, I had the full portion of the fish of the day, and that was quite plentiful, served with salad, chips and sauces. My wife had the oak lamb that was also delicious, if too many potatoes with. The wine was a bit pricey, and staff a little overrun, but overall a recommended place to eat good local food.
Martin Alemann — Google review
Couldn’t be better a lovely sunny day and an outside table in the shade. The staff, service, food and wine were all amazing, friendly and attentive. Best lunch in Clyde. Will definitely be back for a third visit. Oh and amazing values for money.

Impeccable Service, awesome food and great atmosphere. 5 stars all round. Would definitely recommend the vegetable stack, Ribeye and Steak Eggs and chips. Just a shame we didnt get photos of those dishes 😆 Cheers team for another great night.

The Clyde Historical Museum, situated in Clyde, is a captivating cultural destination showcasing the rich gold and social history of the area. In addition to its intriguing exhibits, this museum offers a glimpse into the industrial past through its inclusion of the renovated Fraser Street Museum. The Clyde Railway Station Museum is also currently undergoing development within an enchanting heritage building.
This place was closed when I went there recently. I remembered it being really fun from a visit about three years ago. If you see it open, definitely go in and have a walk around - learn the history of the little town!

I did this tour with my reluctant wife. Well she loved it. Russell was full of the history of the Clutha gorge back 800 years to present . The control room wash a real highlight and Ash did a great job covering all the complexities of keeping the lights on and meeting the spikes in demand . Then we went into the dam and saw the slip joint that will keep the dam intact in a major alpine fault earthquake. Finally we stood on a turbine and fell the full force of the Clutha through our feet . A really great 2.5 hours . Thanks guys . Tour had four of us, so lots of questions , great if you are curious

Most of us take for granted having a reliable source of electricity. This is a fantastic tour of the inner workings of the Clyde hydro station and gives you some appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes. The amazing engineering of the station and the skill, knowledge and effort of the people running the show to keep our lights on day and night.
Elliot Peacocke — Google review
As someone who doesn’t know much about dams or engineering, this experience was amazing, not a boring moment! Well organised by Kim, who welcomed and briefed us so kindly. Our guide, Neil was easy to talk to and was full of information. The guys in the control room were more than happy to take us through the (complex) process of how water from the lake allows us to turn our lights on. So interesting! Being inside the wall and seeing the slip joint and turbines were amazing, you get so up close! Explanations along the way made it all make sense (at my very basic level!) loved knowing the ‘why’ and ‘how’ behind the ‘what‘. This experience is seriously eye opening and mind blowing. A small glimpse at the enormous complexity behind power generation, I do not take my hot cups of tea for granted! What an asset to the the community of Clyde and NZ as a whole. Will definitely be recommending this to friends and fam. Thank you guys so much!
ivy bruce — Google review
Great tour, very interesting look into how the power is generated and what happens next. literally get to go inside the dam and generators! super knowledgeable guide.
Nick Shearer — Google review
Highly Recommended Tour Our guide Russell was really informative and full of history taking us in a very unique and interesting thorough tour through the Dam covering and answering all questions about the dam as he took us right on top of the dam to right inside to see the slip joint that keeps it intact if there were to be a major event and seeing how it is all working and controlled in the control room a really good 3 hours that flew by fast
JT — Google review
The dam tour was very interesting, our guide Russel was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend!
emily manta — Google review
My wife and I had a great time at this tour. Russell our guide is engaging and has good knowledge. It was an interesting experience to get to tour the dam and understand how it works. Before the tour, Kim also showed pictures and explained the overview of where we will be going. This helped us orientate ourselves to help better understand what we will be seeing during the tour. Highly recommended.
Jonathan Lim — Google review
Awesome tour. Really enjoyed it. Loved being able to chat with the guys in the control room. Our guide Neil was very knowledgeable easy to talk with and an all round good guy. Would strongly recommend to anyone who has an interest in how the dam operates. A thanks to Contact Energy for getting on board and being apart of making this happen.
Ben Bruce — Google review
Highly recommend. Our guide was really informative. We were a family with teenagers, everyone really enjoyed it. The "dam" staff were really friendly and very welcoming.
Helen Smith — Google review
We have enjoyed the most fantastic tour today with John as our guide. The whole experience from booking, briefing, touring and debriefing was outstanding. Professional, friendly, informative and fun. We could not recommend this tour enough and would encourage both local people, NZ visitors and tourists to book, learn and experience what goes on both above and below the water of this Dam. We will always remember it and will view the Dam with new eyes. Thanks so much Clyde Dam Tours for the opportunity - a great asset to the local area.

Stopped here for lunch today, had the risotto and the steak sandwich. Both were nicely done, the risotto was probably the best I've ever had. Service was really good too, and being able to sit outside on what was a beautiful day topped it off. Will definitely return next time we visit Clyde.

Best meal of our two week NZ holiday and the best meal I’ve had out anywhere in a very long time, and we eat out a lot! The food literally made me happy dance. Beautifully crafted, cared for and thoughtful food. Yum!! I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time. Lovely hosts, warm and wonderful service.

We had an excellent meal here in this small and intimate dining room that is only open for few nights each week. Definitely visit again.

One of my favorite meals in New Zealand. I came here from a local's recommendation. I ordered the risotto with prawns, it was so beautiful and scrumptious. The staff was also really kind, I believe the chef even came out once to get our order. The scenery was also lovely.

Had best coffee in ages followed by outstanding cheese roll and seafood chowder! Can't fault this wee gem! Super friendly staff and the takeout ginger crunch was damn good too. Bought coffee beans to take home. We will be back for dinner soon.

Intimate and exceptional food. Everything was just perfect. We ate out a lot and this was the best by far for the 16 days we were away on South Island. I can't say enough good things about it.

I have thought about this meal so many times since dinning there four days ago! Accurate sign it was amazing! And it really was. The BF's steak was delish accompanied with celeriac mash - yum! My fish of the day - monk fish, was outstanding. Priced on point and not a chip in sight 😊. Have recommended to many that they must go! Make sure you book to avoid disappointment 👍

A hidden gem in Clyde, definitely one of the must-go cafes in New Zealand. The building used to be a bank, you wouldn’t realise it was an amazing local cafe behind the closed door. The owner kept a part of the history as decorations, like the phone, door and BNZ sign, really appreciated. We had a pork belly bun and cottage pie as bunch. The pork belly was incredibly delicious, with the blue cheese and chutney a prefect match. The pie was hot and rich in favour, it was absolutely a splendid choice in a cold morning. There was a small grocery corner selling local produces, the homemade sauce and chutney were really good. Highly recommend!
