Water & Amusement Parks
Taman Pintar Yogyakarta is a popular educational center designed for children, providing interactive exhibits and scientific games. Visitors can explore various fields of science, history, and culture through tactile experiences. The park offers free admission and is well-organized with spacious areas that are clean and colorful. Kids are particularly fascinated by the dinosaur world, future vision section, swings, and fountain bath.
Such a very good place for children to learn, from science to art. Nice and interesting simulation can be found here. Various information about many things can also be obtained here

It’s a nice park, kids can learn many things from science to traffic sign. And lots of free facilities in the compound.

Kids can get important scitific info and basic principles of technical phenomena. Well designed, sectioned, clean n tidy, colorful, much open arena. Kids enjoy a lot in dinosaur world, future vision, on swings and especially fountain bath. 👀
Asad Ullah — Google review
Good. Many activities for children. It's a wide area where kids can learn while playing. But several attractions are unavailable. Prefer not to come here between 12-13 am cause some staffs are break so they don't guide some shows. There are also some foot streets inside the complex..

Best place to learn all about science. All is fun and maintains. The place is in heart of Yogyakarta. Near malioboro, titik nol,and all the attraction

since 12 years old ago i came here, and still be nice education place
Ali Himam — Google review
This museum boasts a prime location, making it easily accessible to all. The entrance fee is worth every penny considering the extensive and engaging collection housed within its walls. Regarded as one of the finest science museums, it stands out for its interactive exhibits, which effectively aid in understanding various concepts. However, it can get quite crowded on holidays. While most areas are well-maintained, some spots in the public areas could use a bit more attention as they appear dirty and neglected.
Natanael Elia — Google review
Maybe a good place if you understand Indonesian. If visiting the same time with school groups it's so loud there.
Jukka Ala-Hynnilä — Google review
An educational place for kids located in the heart of jogja, (+) • its pretty easy to get there. you can get there by your private vhcle / public trnsprtation such as transjogja. • Free entry to play around the outter area & affrdble ticket price to get in to the main area (20k for adult, 12k for kids). (-) • i came there in the weekend & quite hard to find parking space, once i got, i had to walked quite far to the main area.
J.S Pratama — Google review
Good place for kids to play and learn. Unfortunately, it needs some touch ups. Lots of areas are dirty and props are broken and not being maintained
M Farid — Google review
September 2022 => admission price is 20,000 for adults and 12,000 for children. This is a nice place to play and learn with a low price, If you come on weekdays you will often meet groups of elementary school or kindergarten children. There are many interactive and educative games, but they look very dull and need more maintenance, some of the games are damaged and not operating. Children can play indoor and outdoor, there are also cafetaria on the ground floor.
khotimatus sa'diyah — Google review
Good place for kids. Only minus is the maintenance is not really good. Update on October 2022: maintenance is still lacking a lot. Thus many activities are not possible because broken. Fortunately there still are things to see about culture and knowledge interesting for kids to learn.
Philippe Lefevre — Google review
Such a good place for kids to explore science and others here. From biology to physics, history to gamelan. Visitors can touch and feel. The park is free for everyone, it was a nice place to chill and relax. I'm sure kids like to be here especially for those who likes dinosaurs and curious with a lot of things
Milky Butter — Google review
This park is for everyone. The kids will sure like them, but the adults will also find this place excellent spot for relaxing in afternoon. The place welcomes you with its water tunnel right to the symbol of diversity in Indonesia. The colorful theme is very uplifting. If you play Pokemon Go, this is your treasure throve for the stops!
Tomi Taladin — Google review
Wow, this is the place for you to find a decent, affordable, entertaining, near city center, all in one for the family. In here your kids can learn many things: art, tech, outer space, engineering, etc. They can also play in these places. The parents can enjoy foods in lots of food stalls here.

The plaque says the monument constructed in 1756. It is a very significant monument in Yogyakarta being the end point of the line connecting 2 other building landmarks. A large plan on the granite area next to the Tugu and several plaques, also in English explain a lot more details.

The locals simply call it 'Tugu' or an obelisk. It's an important focal point for the city of Yogyakarta, marking the Northerly direction. The Sultanate of Yogyakarta maintains this South to North axis as an integrating element from Parangtritis (South sea) to the Merapi mountain.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ganjuran has been built in the Javanese style since 1925 and boasts unique statues of both Jesus and the Virgin Mary. Despite being crowded on weekdays, visitors come to pray and engage in religious activities. The church building is frequently used for prewedding photoshoots, but there are also facilities available for bathing in holy water and a small shop where you can purchase rosaries.
We have church with a temple beside it, it shows how the tolerance exist since a long ago, and how the religion united with the culture. You will feel peace. I grew up here. The initial building wasn't a Joglo, the construction and the design has been renewed after the earthquake destroy my church. The previous church has built by an England family in 19th century, they had sugar manufacture, they built schools too for the pribumi. But unfortunately in 2006 May we had earthquake which destroy our church and most of house & building in Bantul and many of peoples died, that was horrible. After that, we collect the budget to rebuild our church, it took a several times so we could rebuild and redesign the church. But nothing happen with the temple, we called it Hati Kudus Tuhan Yesus Temple. Come and see and feel it, you will have 3in1 experiences 😊

A serene, peaceful sanctuary. Beautiful classic Javanese traditional architecture with a small Javanese temple structure on the church's grounds for solitary praying/meditation/reflection. A one of a kind place of worship originally built in 1924.

It was the first place that I visited after my Catholic baptism. I can only describe it in one word, beautiful, how the local culture is embedded in the whole church. It was so peaceful to pray accompanied by the sound of gamelan. Complete facilities and surrounded by the hospitality of local people and local culture.

What becomes the main attraction is the temple of sacred heart which is devoted to Jesus Christ. Though the temple itself is a small one but it's unique: Hindu influenced relic but used by Catholic who still practise Javanese tradition.

A sanctuary for those who seek peace and comfort by praying to the sacred heart of Jesus Christ. Here you can see a localized depiction of Mary, wearing the traditional javanese dress. The place is pretty quiet, you can meditate and say your prayer without being interrupted by loud noise.

The most quiet and comfortable place to pray. The weather is very shady because there are many trees here. Don't forget to go up to the temple of the Sacred Heart of the Lord Jesus to pray directly there. Usually, if you come here, don't forget to buy milk (the store is located to the left of the temple).

History Museums
The Ullen Sentalu Museum, located in Sleman, Yogyakarta, is a privately-owned museum established by the Haryono family in 1994. Managed by the Ulating Blencong Foundation, the museum houses various relics and artifacts from royal Javanese houses that reveal the history of Mataram Kingdom and reflect Hindu-Buddhist culture.
We were having an absolute blast visiting this museum! If you love history, you will love this place. SUPER RECOMMENDED! Our guide for the day was Ms Juni, she is very good at explaining all the different things, and she brings good vibes. They should give her a raise haha 😉 😅 There are 2 kinds of tour. One was IDR 50k, the other was 100k. We went with the 100k tour. Our tour was about 40 to 60 minutes. The tour was about the Javanese Mataram history and culture and its ties with Chinese and Dutch culture. We also were given cookies and coffee and tea. Can't take pictures inside the museum. But don't be afraid, there will be a spot for a good photo session outside at the end of the tour. All and all we spent 2 hours at the place. The place was super large. You have to walk all the way because there were so many stairs. Not so disability-friendly.
Yuwara Yogaiswara — Google review
A very nice place to visit for historical learning purposes. The guide was very kind and informative throughout the 45 mins tour. But I didn’t expect the place to be only like that. We have two options for the tour with different prices, 50k or 100k. For me, it’s a little bit pricey to pay with such price only to see bunch of paintings and some traditional cloth for local tourists. It’s also prohibited to bring your camera, so we don’t really have any merchandise to bring as a gift.

It felt so serene and peaceful here, surrounded by forest, the place is far away from hustle and bustle of the city, perfect for quick getaway. The museum itself is about culture and civilization of central java and Yogyakarta in the past, as you explore the museum, you'll be accompanied with traditional Javanese tunes as well, combined with surrounding forest, it feel so peaceful and makes you want to stay longer. Oh and they also have an English guide tour for 100k. Inside the museum complex, there's a dutch restaurant, it's worthy to try it.

When i get off from the car and stand in front of this museum, i know i will had a great time. For you who like serenity, surrounded by nature, and curious in history of Java especially Ancient Mataram and Moslem Mataram, this place is the perfect place for you. You will have educator to give you a complete and fun explanation about the museum along the session (45minutes). Inside this area they also have the restaurant with indische menu that you have to try when you visit. I wouldn't mind to come for second visit. My favorite museum in Indonesia so far.

Great Javanese Historical Museum. The museum is private, calm & shady. They have two tickets u can choose, 100k/person & 50k/person. Ticket 50k include tour guide and 100k include tour guide & coffee break. The historical about Javanese Mataram, Yogyakarta & Surakarta culture. The historical tour was about 30-50 minutes. Inside museum you can't take a picture, so u can enjoy & focus the historical tour. But don't worry, there will be a spot photo outside at the end of the tour. Recommended!

Ullen Sentalu is located on a high land kilometres away from the center of Yogya City. I can say it is similar to the concept of Selasar Sunaryo or Wot Batu in Bandung which have a lot of similarities. The design of the building is really beautiful. Me and my friends took the 50k museum tour to know more about the Yogya's batik and story. The tour guide explain it nicely though I feel more excited about the ambience and the building and the weather than the tour actually. We arrived here by using online transport and we had a bit of trouble to get online transport to go back to the city. So please make sure to rent a car to or your own vehicle to get here. Overall it is a nice place to getaway from the city hustle and a perfect place for a group of introverts to visit.

As someone mentioned earlier, it is indeed the most well prepared museum in Indonesia. The collections are actually not many, but our museum guide, Juni, her way of explanation made it a memorable, not another boring museum tour. I knew a thing or two now about Javanese kingdom now. Good tour and Jogja or Solo or Javanese teachings/ wisdom is pretty much still relatable to present/daily life.

What an amazing experience! The museum provides a tour for a single entry. You can choose types of tour. Once you enter the gallery, the vibes are so real by the nice explanation from the guide. Must visit once in a lifetime. Note: no pictures are allowed during the tour, so enjoy the tour!
Ainun Ika — Google review
The territory of the museum is very beautiful, HOWEVER the exposition is strange: after a hall with local music instruments the guide took us to a picture with a family tree of the local noble family (who’ve founded this museum, as we understand). Then it was a hall with the photos of all that people, then another hall with reprinted letters to a lady from this family. That’s pretty much all. No local sculpture, or wood curving, or any other art & craft artifacts or pieces of historical heritage (with I honestly expected to see after going through photos on Google Maps). The thing is — it’s not allowed to take shots inside, so all you can see on the tourists photos here — those are the decoration of the territory. There were some other facilities around, but our guide won’t take us in, though we saw people exploring those parts of the museum. I would say it was rather disappointing experience, however (once again) — the territory of the museum is beautiful! You may consider visiting this place if you’re deeply interested in family of Yogyakartas’ governors, otherwise I couldn’t recommend the museum.

It is a private museum that Located near mt. Merapi. Museum Ullen sentalu provide a very good guide, well I can say not only a guide but a storyteller. We booked Adiluhung Tour for 50K IDR each. A 45 minutes tour that amaze everyone. My guests were very happy and content with the tour. Perhaps it would be great if there's small store to grab some drink. The ambience is very nice as well. Thank you

The museum is Private where you will have guided while exploring, but the guide speak in bahasa only. Speaking off the entrance fee is 50K and 100K depending on the route you will take, i did take the 50K and its about 50min tour with a coffe break... is it worth? Considering that u CAN NOT take the picture inside while tour and the things that you will see in the museum.. i would say its quite expensive, but i gain some knowledge and to preserve the culture so its okay, the museum is beautiful and really good atmosphere so i quite enjoy to spend my time here.
Bryan Rolando — Google review
One of the most well prepared museum tours in Indonesia that you should try. Don't worry, there will be a guide who can speak English if you are from abroad. the atmosphere is quite interesting you will be invited to walk through the hallway and move house by house, and in my opinion it is quite good. The positioning of the stories is really quite good, you will be presented with the colonial period of the kingdom of Jogja and Islamic Mataram, as well as the collections in the kingdom. For 50K per person I think it was worth it, because the brother I invited got inspired in making his batik. *Caution: No photo or video are allowed during the tour session.

Super nice and chill place for relax :). The restaurant vibe like “Batavia Cafe” something like classic, old but modern. It actually a bit confusing to get there because I paid a 2 times of parking?? I paid 10k for the entrance it’s like the front gate over there I thought it’s including parking but it isn’t, so we need to pay more extra 2k when we are about near to the museum. I don’t have intention to go to the museum just went to the restaurant. It’s all fine, everything is good and chill. The ice tea and caramel latte is good. The chocolate lava is recommended:)

Awesome Museum. A must go place. This place will explain to you about the royal family and history behind it, also the custom clothing, family drama, historical events, and alot other things. There are 3 types of places you can visit starting from admission of 50k, 60k and 100k. Start from the first one, then follow by the second and third. If you take all. Would be very awesome but you will need to spend 210k all for more than 2hours of guided tour. All of these prices are already with tour guide. Very informative and educated tour guide and full of jokes. Mine is a lady but forgotten her name. There is a restaurant in there as well with a classic set up. Food is mostly european style. Although there are local cuisine as well. Price is a bit more than local price. Range is around 50 - 80k. Drinks are around 20 - 30k.

The Ullen Sentalu Museum is a museum that tells the story of the Mataram Kingdom and Yogyakarta. Entrance tickets to this museum are divided into two categories, namely short trips at a price of fifty thousand rupiah and long trips at a price of one hundred thousand rupiah. This museum is closed every Monday. Parking is easy, but you have to walk some distance if you drive by car. This museum is private, but the calm and positive and sacred atmosphere can be felt. There is a cafe and a restaurant located in the Ullen Sentalu Museum area. The distance is quite far from the city center of Jogja, taking about an hour. This museum is very close to the Kaliurang Tourist Park.

Wonderful museum, staff members and crew maintain the museum clean and tidy. Firstly you should buy ticket and after that you should check in at the lobby. They make a plan for costumers and they arranged guide for them. And it is a good thing for foreigners that there are guider who talk in English very good. If you wonder how about yogyakarta sultans came to nowadays, how they were divided, how was the life in the palace. There are many visual items that you can see there. In my opinion the best museum in yogyakarta. And fortunately my guider was Juni. She was amazing. The journey in the museum was really fantastic. Along the journey She lectured with full energy. Thank you Juni.

Our visit to Museum Ullen Sentalu was a genuinely interesting experience. We opted for the guided Mataram tour, which was an eye-opener about the royal family of Yogyakarta. Our guide was not only friendly but incredibly knowledgeable, making the history come alive. A pleasant surprise was that our tour turned out to be private, adding a personal touch to the experience. However, it's worth noting that photography isn't allowed inside, and there aren't many interactive exhibits – something for the tech-savvy visitors to keep in mind. After soaking in all that history, we had a fantastic meal at the Beukenhaus. Definitely a must-visit for anyone interested in Javanese culture and history, topped off with great food!"

Jomblang Cave, situated in Gunung Kidul near Yogyakarta, is a unique geological formation comprising a collapsed sinkhole that forms part of a cave network. Visitors are provided with caving gear and lowered approximately 165 feet down the sinkhole on ropes before hiking through a tunnel to Grubug Cave. The cave is well-known for its sunken forest, where rays of sunlight create an enchanting effect within the underground space.
A great experience for us. Went down with a scary face but full of curiosity ....and found a beautiful ray of light. Good service from the crew.

Amazing experience. A must see. Incredible work by the locals, especially when it's time to pull you up! 20 or 30 people are in a line doing it by hand! Incredible.
Moriah Sanchez — Google review
I have mixed feelings about this tourist attraction. On the one hand, it's well maintained and the guides are friendly and experienced. I felt really safe in their hands. on the other hand the experience was really underwhelming- it was awesome when they lowered us down into the cave (so exciting!), then we had to wait 30 minutes for them to lower everyone (boring). Then only the trek into the cave could begin. The trek in was about 15 minutes. The "heaven's light" experience was cool but it wears off after 10 minutes of intense photo taking. We wanted to leave but were told we had to stay in the cave for another 45 minutes because "that's how long the tour lasts" (boring!). Then when we got out, it took another 45 minutes to hoist everyone back out the cave (so so boring). In conclusion, I felt like the drive and the waiting time made up 90% of this entire experience. It should have been better organized to allow batches of people in and out of the cave, instead of doing every step as a big giant group.

Ray of life (Jomblang cave ) is a superb extreme adventurous tourist attraction but too much expensive. You can experience the ray of light only once a day so be there before 9:20am. I would recommend booking tickets online via WhatsApp before visiting as the limit is 85 pax. Price is 500K IDR per pax ( adults/kids) inclusive of lunch , boots , safety equipment. They provide vegetarian food as well ( without egg ), you have to inform them before heading towards the cave.
vaibhav mayee — Google review
The cave the magnificent. It is not that long, but because everyone wants to take pictures from the same spots, it takes about 2 hours. The wait to go down and to be brought up is long also. My driver tried to book a place for me but never got an answer, so I had to get on the cancelation list and waited 1.5 hours. I was there from 9am to 2pm. The team is lovely and friendly and try hard to please everyone. You get lunch on the way out, no choice on lunch, its chicken with rice and spicy veg, and water. 500,000 I think is over priced, probably because it's on private land, not government owned.
Margarita Buyukli — Google review
Nothing to shout about. I think this is really based on personal preference. I only liked the part where we were hung down. The cave itself, not so much. It was very muddy, slippery and the "light" was very much luck-dependent. The worker there were very friendly though. Spent a lot of time waiting from arriving, waiting to get shoes, waiting for the briefing, waiting for our "team" turn to go down - understandable as they can only bring 2 person down each time and it was all manual. Lunch was provided after that but it was pretty dry. It gets better as you continue eating though. They do sell you photos after too.

First of all, its not a recreation for family with kids (5 y.o below) (in my opinion) You will go to a vertical cave, around 1 km diameter and 60 meter below. Provider do it very well and safe. Check my photos for details safety equipment. Then you will track through dark and muddy horizontal cave, around 300 m so you will see a hole, huge with beautiful heavenly light. Bring flashlight would be much better.
Willy Singgih Chandrasasmita — Google review
It's not so much the size or the beauty of the cave that one should come here for, but rather the whole experience. If you like adventures and exploring natural structures in its original form, this is the thing for you. Firstly, you will wear wellington boots and safety harness, and be lowered down to the cave by local staff who took care of our safety. That is quite an exhilarating experience itself. Next, you will enter the cave in pitch darkness as there are no lights installed inside - a torchlight or phone torch will come in handy. Expect some exercise for the legs as you will wade through the thick and sticky mud. Be careful as it can be rather slippery. Finally, the finale and highlight of the experience is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel - both literally and figuratively. The shaft of light ray shining into the cave really looks, as they say, heavenly. You will feel that way especially after the tiring and humid walk through the cave. Then, you will walk back to where you were hoisted down and be pulled back up by 20 to 30 men, some I must say are in their late teens or 20s. Much respect to them for elevating us tourists up back up safely. Tip: Bring old socks and disposable shower caps to wear. Also bring waterproof handphone covers if possible.

Traditional restaurant
The House of Raminten is a traditional Javanese restaurant that features delicious fare in an atmospheric setting. The owner is known for performing as Raminten, a soap opera character, and the restaurant is decorated with references to the show. There are also statues of Mother Mary, Buddha, and Ganesh overlooking diners as they eat their meals.
Good authentic food! Be sure to either make a reservation or wait for a bit to be seated: this place is very popular. Luckily there is a good queue-system (you wait in the waiting-area until a table is available for you). Don't hesitate to ask the waiters fot recommendations on which food is good. Most dishes do not have (English) descriptions next to them so for most of the dishes you have to look at the picture to know what is in there.
Yuri van den Brand — Google review
The place was very busy when we went there early Tuesday evening. But it didn't take long until we were ushered in to our seats. The food we ordered were delicious and nicely prepared. The price was also very reasonable. Moreover, the waitress that attended us was very friendly and helpful. I liked that staff wore traditional Javanese attire. How it could have been better: The music was too loud for my liking. To my consternation the restaurant only accepted cash. Overall, it is a place worth visiting when you are in Jogjakarta.
bastil — Google review
I'll say you can immediately feel the Javanese culture? from the entrance and it was crowded the last time I went there because this house of raminten is so viral and no wonder lots of people are trying it. Thankfully waiting for my queue was not so long. The food is actually just like another food in other places, but the point is the atmosphere which is not just like any other place.
Dinda Azhra Mumtazah — Google review
Clean and fresh place where to enjoy a very high quality food by affordable prices. The menu is quite extensive with many Javanese recipes. (I only photographed few pages of the menu) There are big plates to share as well. Fresh juices are a must!

definitely a unique and interesting place. the service is slow but they are short staffed. not really fair to the staff to deal with basically a full house. i do like the pay at the table when you order feature though. once the food arrived however it was pretty good, especially the porridge. however, it is pretty dirty (there’s a lot of sitting on the floor) and that’s partly because there are 4 or 5 live horses IN the restaurant. they are literally living near the kitchen and the bathrooms. no idea why but saw this AFTER we ate. have to question the hygiene there. still, I’d recommended this place just for the experience alone.

Unique Indonesia dining experience with the service and atmosphere. Food is definitely made to order, served hot with tradational flavour and awesome variety. The jumbo drink can go around for a party of 4 plus people. Enjoyed our visit.
Charmaine V — Google review
Good traditional restaurant in Yogyakarta. If you want to dine in with your family try making reservation first since this restaurant is quite famous and a lot of people coming. If you didn't make reservation first then you have to queue up for a while when you come to dine in. The price is affordable and the food is delicious

The parking lot is limited. During lunch or dinner time, especially on the weekends, you might need to park a little bit far from the restaurant. There is a waiting room and clothes store as well. The decoration inside is historical and appealing. The restaurant is vast. I try several menus and the foods are yummy, with affordable price and plenty portion. Overall, I recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Jogja!👍
Evelyn Sippy Prisetyo — Google review
It has a huge value range and you immediately have the feeling of being in a special place. But we only had to wait 7 minutes. There are also regular seats but we opted for the chairs on the floor. The service was very traditionally dressed and the food was very tasty. A great selection and the person could speak English. And yes, it is a horse stable downstairs, you can argue about that but you have to see the restaurant. And it's really cheap. A real insider tip

So many options menu, artsy place and historical place. Ambience 10/10 ✨ The passion of art and acting make Hamzah Sulaiman create super antique place to visit at Yogyakarta called House of Raminten 🙎‍♀️ Actually all the menu nothing zonk. Especially their desserts all are so good! 🥞🍰🎂🧁🍮 Recommend dish: - Wedang Ronde - Durian Pancake - Es Teller

definitely chose the wrong time to visit this restaurant during the eid holiday, but since we were so curious about it we decided to go and had to wait for about 50 minutes until we got our table. ordered the classic gudeg plate and spicy bakmi jogja, other than the slow service and crowd I think the restaurant is worth to visit, just try to go when it is not the rush hour
Yasmin Rizar — Google review
A worthy restaurant to visit in Yogyakarta. You must make a reservation with the waiter to determine an available table. Because during the day, conditions are crowded and many seats are not available. The atmosphere along with the Javanese food here has its own characteristics for this place. The restaurant's waiter served in a friendly and helpful manner with some of the jokes he made. The air in some places feels hot but there are many fans available to keep the air cool.

Unique ambiance, helpful host and staff. Variety food and drinks with affordable price. But the food was not as tasty as the reviews. Parking lot is not available. Prepare for a long queue during lunch and dinner.

Very crowded during the dinner time. Waited for about 30 mins before we got the seats. Average food taste at reasonable price. The decorations and atmosphere is good but the service could be improved.

I loved this place! It’s located outside of the touristy areas so you can really experience the Indonesian culture there! The variety of dishes on the menu was quite large but I can totally recommend to take one of the sets with rice in the middle 🤍🪷 It’s very affordable too! I also loved the decor and the fact that you can sit on the floor! It creates such a unique atmosphere. It’s quite a popular place so we were lucky not to wait but when we were going outside I could see people queuing (around 8 pm).

Some places are famous simply because of their marketing strategies, this is one of them. But the food is affordable despite of the fame, that's probably why people returning. The queue was long but it didn't take that much time to be seated. Waiters came quite fast however the waiting time for the food to serve it much longer than the queue.

What a fun place. Since the entrance there was a sense of this obsessed lady that is apparently the owner . She is all over. The food is very nice. We had 3 dishes and 2 fresh juices for.... $7!!!!! Great food really would recommend

Great food there! Hardly complain on the food taste ….. they fried noodle is one of the best so far for me. The only down sides are some time we have to wait for a long time, so be patient and prepare for starving before you can get seated.

A must visit restaurant with strong Jawen traditions when you visit Jogja. The food is fantastic and price reasonable. Waitresses dressed in traditional costume while taking orders while the scent of kemenyan permeates in the air. Love the ambience!
Lee Oliver — Google review
As I can't handle very spicy food, I appreciate the staff who patiently introduced suitable options. I ordered Mie Goreng, Soto Ayam, and Telur Bakar. Generally, the food was okay, though the flavors were a bit salty but still manageable. I loved the relaxed vibe and the setting. The chairs were especially comfortable to sit in, making it a pleasant experience to have dinner and chill there after a day full of walking. Just a reminder, the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis.

recommended by driver for authentic javanese food. food was ok only. queue was very shockingly long (our number was 27th and we were for 2 pax but was called within 20mins). No wow factor but still v cheap food to eat in jogja

House of Raminten is kinda a unique and specific reataurant. There are many people but it is not noisy. It has various menu that you can order. The foods are tasty and I like the drinks too. The atmosphere is really good with a very strong javanese culture. You can see from the furniture, accessories, even the waiters. The waiters are wearing a traditional clothes. It makes the place special with good manners. They have also second floor for more customers. Sometimes you gotta wait to get a spot. They have a wait line based on your arrival and table available for how many people. Another thing that is interesting is the toilet. It is clean and it has good smell. You can see horses when you go to the toilet. There are some spots also that people can take picture at. Please kindly check pictures on my review to see the places. Enjoy!

Mediterranea Restaurant by Kamil offers a delightful blend of French and Mediterranean cuisine in a minimalist setting with wooden accents. Since its establishment in 2012, the restaurant has been committed to sustainability by sourcing local ingredients from Yogyakarta's farms while also importing some essential items. Chef Camille, known as Kamil, hailing from France, showcases his passion for food through an extensive menu featuring authentic Mediterranean dishes like pizza and kebabs.
The food is still number 1 and only favorite in Yogyakarta. We love everything they serve here. Staffs are very nice too. But the dine in experience went a little off recently. Nothing bad. They still doing a great job and working extremely hard to please everyone which is uneasy. But the fact that this restaurant is always full booked, especially the non smoking area, i recommend you to book at least 2 days before if you want for special occasion. As the restaurant always full, the waiting time for food gets longer too, very acceptable but if you dine with kids or you are too hungry, this can be a little annoying. To me personally, delivery order can be best option if you are in no time, same food taste & quality and less waiting time. Those all happen because Mediterranea is loved by so many, so with that being said, people obviously come here to eat and enjoy the food. I feel so bad when i see people working from here take their time and chill while many people in the waiting list, waiting for a table. Please have some commonsense and emphaty to others. Cheers

Awesome experience as usual! My go to comfort Western Food in Yogyakarta. Service was still the same, very nice and warm. Ambience even though there’s not much renovation but has that nice home-like feeling. There’s a separate Smoking areas too for smokers. We had a lot of food but my personal favourite are the drinks and wines instead. They offer great value Wines and Spirits for you to enjoy your meal with, especially when we ordered a nice classic Pepperoni Pizza. I’ll always come back and have great meals on this establishment. Price is slightly below average over other high-end Western Restaurant.

This restaurant is a true culinary delight, especially for Mediterranean cuisine enthusiasts. Every dish surpasses expectations in both taste and portion size. Situated in the heart of an expatriate hub, it draws a lively crowd every day, particularly during dinner service, when a wait for seating is common. Overall, it's a must-visit destination for an exceptional dining experience. Inside the restaurant, they have an added charm—a store offering a variety of healthy food ingredients, freshly baked bread and pastries, and an assortment of books. This thoughtful touch enhances the overall experience, allowing patrons to take a piece of the culinary magic home with them.

They have unique and affordable wine collection. A great compliment to their main dish. I Would love some experienced waitress to help us. Unfortunately, We had few new waitresses. Price : 10/10 Worth every Pennies $$ Service : 6/10 Food : 100/10 Wine : 100/10 Spacious parking lots.

I loved this place and I totally recommended. I tried a few different dishes and all were great from starters to deserts. In rush hours if you don't have a reservation you have to wait a bit. In my opinion the food was the best in town. Last but not least everyone working there were super kind.

Everything they served was amazing! All the prices are very reasonable for a very good quality of foods. Better to make reservation in advance cz this place is always on high demand 👍

The place looks nice, it is climatic. We were here during lunch time and it was busy. Seems it's popular. I don't know who this Kamil is, but it's a male name from rather Central and Eastern Europe. Anyway, back to the business of fair judgement of their food. Coffee, very nice, tasty, aromatic. Calamari, nope. Overcooked, chewy. The best thing about Calamari was the tasty Vietnamese sauce. The olives and feta cheese was a nice snack, that cannot go wrong. The pizza was fresh from the oven, yet it was saggy and wet, like if too much toppings were put on it. Shame, especially because this pizza is called "Chef" pizza in the menu.

Too hot and the food takes so long to come out (more yhan 45 minutes). The food its self is alright, but not to die for if you cone to yogyakarta. Better try authentic local foods instead

Excellent bakery goods, especially the croissants. The restaurant offers complete breakfast, fresh juices and of course coffee, tea and chocolate. For our moslem bros and sis be careful real 'bacon' is served, so you need to make sure you don't order the wrong one.

This is one was my bucket list in Jogja. We ordered lots of things here, steak, beef kebab and pizza was really great and delicious. The waiting time is short, even we ordered a lot of things it comes out quite quick. The place was nice and they also have a separate parking lot for cars and motorbike. Pricing was great. Good to visit!

The duck was absolutely incredible! I got the duck breast sweet spices dish that came with an aubergine confit and mushroom risotto. After a long day of travelling, I couldn’t of been happier with the meal I had even with the 30 minute wait. I’ll be returning to try out some other dishes from this restaurant tomorrow!

The food is delicious and with affordable price. Spagheti seafood is fresh and taste amazing. Pumpkin soup serve still hot and quite good but if you like salty soup better choose other this is either sweets or salty but nice and comfy soup. The duck confit was cooked well and perfect , serve one package with potato cheese. Better reserve for weekend and at night. We visited at day around 13.30 and no need to wait.

Was hosted to dinner here last night. The restaurant is clearly popular for when we arrived we were informed there was a 30-60 min wait, and boy was it worth it. We were also able to sit, chill and check the menu out whilst waiting, and when the table was available we were served drinks pretty quickly so the wait for food eventually didn’t seem that long. And the food was amazing. Every aspect was lovely. Highly recommend!
Dr Jade Kua — Google review
Came here because of the high ratings, but seems like the reviews need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Our orders were loaded with salt - mushroom soup was extremely salty and no amount of water we added to it could salvage it, the creamy spinach was also so salty that the cream couldn't cover the saltiness. Fruit juices taste diluted. Overall, not worth the price at all, considering it's so salty that its almost inedible. Atmosphere wise, depends on your seat - there are seating areas that allow smoking.

A very nice restaurant in Tirtodipuran, serving unique and authentic fusion Mediterranean food. I tried the Rib-eye with Monte carlo butter & potato island and it is to die for, the escargot is also delicious, fresh tuna tataki, and crispy pizza. Overall it's a 5/5 restaurant and it's a good option for vegetarian

Really hard to get reservations for this place.. but had to see what the hype was about.. turns out its worth it.. Had the lamb shank, tuna tataki, and duck breast! Everything was perfection.. I had medium cooked duck and it was very soft and cooked so well! It deserves all the hype it gets.. its a must try!

Very satisfying meal! The hummus, chicken salad that I tried was delicious. The traditional herbal tea drink was also refreshing. The food worth the high price tag. I would recommend to you if you want to try other than local food at Yogja.

The place is cozy, afordable, and the service is good. The food was the best part. We ordered 4 menus in total and non of them was a fail. Very reccomended. The live music is also perfect 👍. The toilet is also very clean. The room pf improvement lays in the fact that the door between the smoking and non smoking area is always open

The western restaurant Roaster And Bear Restaurant is very popular on social media for its cute and funky interior, complete with funny drawings of adorable bears on the white walls. The prices are relative expensive, but the food is delicious and the service is top-notch.
Fantastic experience! Me and my colleagues were enjoying our visit here. The food were delicious, the services was great, the ambience was comfortable too. I ordered beef ribs, my friends ordered sop buntut and steak. I tried all of them and it was above my expectations. The meat was tender and flavory, and suitable for my taste as well as my Pakistani friend’s taste. The service also good, we’re not waited too long, the waitress also can speak English well. There are couple of nice and instagrammable spots if you want to take a photo, so it’s worth all the money you spent here.

Location : 4/5 It’s located in the center, easy to see from the street, but a little confusing to spot the entrance hahaha because it’s in the same building as a hotel Parking Spot : 4/5 Parking area is the same as hotel, even though they can accommodate around 10 cars (probably more) but place like this should expect more visitors with cars especially on weekends Interior : 5/5 Live up to the theme, and “instagramable” Service : 5/5 Each table got QR code and we order from the website. It’s very convenience. Order via waiter/waitress were possible as well. Food : 3/5 Personal favourite from my order was mushroom soup. The least favourite was fried tofu because it tastes like fried flour—I can’t taste the tofu at all. Vegetarian option was very limited, the menu didn’t say if we can ask for vegetarian option. Even meat house nowadays have plant-based menu. We don’t need special section, just put a symbol or something to indicate that we can ask for vegetarian/vegan option for certain menus Beverage : 5/5 Can’t complain about the drinks. It was good. Price : 3.5/5 It’s in the center of the city, in the tourist area, and the place was well maintenance. It was a little bit expensive, yes. But I can say, (almost) worth the price. Non Smoking Area : Very spacey, great for families or groups, they have a separate section for more private area. Smoking Area : Also spacey, but very hot and humid at noon on a sunny days. Better add more fan. Toilet : It was clean and didn’t smell Other Highlight : There’s live music performance on schedule.

It can be said that one of the good Western food restaurants in Jogja. Service: Good service. Atmosphere: Atmosphere was the factor that attracted me to visit this restaurant. It was just wonderful. Nice place for photos. Overall, satisfied with the restaurant. Worth my walk from Jalan Malioboro.

Finding this restaurant from ig and tiktok recommendation. At first, i doubted the taste would be delicious. Surprisingly, i really love the salmon vermicelli, it’s oily but it suits my taste. The spaghetti carbonara was also tasty but since i dislike tol creamy pasta, i prefer salmon vermicelli to carbonara. I didn’t try the smoked wagyu cheese sauce, but my husband said it was delicious but not special. It was peak season when we visited Roaster & Bear, but since i made a reservation and already placed the order so we didn’t wait long to eat. There are 2 giant teddy bears that attract many kids. Overall, it was good and would like to recommmend this restaurant to relatives and would like to revisit. We really appreciate the restaurant whatsapp admin, they were responsive even though it was high season holiday. Thank you!

I think this place is one of the best restaurant in Jogja. They aren't a fine dining restaurant, but they are quite fancy. The restaurant also have so many kind of seats, so you can choose place/seat to eat. Unfortunately, when i came, the second floor ia under construction, but it is okay, i still like their first floor. I also like their vibes, quite comfortable. Their dishes aren't expensive, normal price for western restaurant. I like their pasta and snack, yummy 😍😍. I like their desserts too, but i don't know why most of their desserts are made of bananas(?) 😅

The place has a really chill vibe, great for enjoying some good eats. Wife's all about the salmon and veggies, and my chicken Maryland was solid—though the breading was kinda thick. Panna cotta looked nice, but the sauce was a bit too sour. We'll swing by again to check out more dishes. Service was cool, even though we rolled in close to closing time. Definitely a spot for a laid-back dinner!

One of the best restaurant in Yogyakarta. Originally I didn’t think I would have such a lovely ambiance. But here, they have very good food and interesting drinks. The food was well prepared and had unique tastes. I ordered rice and wagyu with papaya leaves stir fried and that was delicious! Beers are normal prices for a restaurant; IDR 37.000 for a bottle. Payments with Visa and Mastercard are accepted with no additional charge. They really do this restaurant for locals and international tourists. 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing experience at this café, the concept are super cute and classy combining cute bears, coffee and western foods. Nice natural ambient restaurant that serving so many healthy menu. The food and beverage are amazing, it’s so delicious. I really love the veggie tempura and the drink with telang flower (I’m sorry i forgot the name), the veggie tempura have a crunchy texture mix with the soft boiled veggie inside and the best part of it is the tamarind sauce where you can dip the tempura to it. Very chill place, super nice staff and superb food. I had paneer ball and their chapati is just perfect... not thick and not too dry. Hidden in a side street in Yogyakarta, this is a spot not to miss. It's a relief having veggies after every meal being rice and meats. This restaurant is fully vegan and they are great at it. Flavors are rich and you can taste that everything is fresh. Service was very friendly and considering everything is made from scratch, or good didn't take long to be prepared. Sustainable food from local farmers. Highly recommended.

I chanced upon this restaurant as I saw many great reviews online and I was skeptical about it. But when we receive our first dish, the sweet potato and cassava fries, we were blown away. It's such a simple dish, yet it tastes super good, fresh, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and of quality. We ordered Nasi Rames, Curry, and Steak Tempe for main courses and we were very surprised that without meat, the food still tastes good, or even better! We finished off the meal with the coconut chocolate ice cream which was very decadent, but we did not enjoy the coconut hibiscus ice cream as it was frozen solid and hard to eat. My friends and I are not vegetarian, yet we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. I hope to be back to try the other dishes like the Medan Laksa. The menu had a wide variety of home made drinks, main courses ranging from indo to western food and desserts. The price was quite affordable, for the fact that we are paying for organic and quality food, made with love. The atmosphere was great too (we went on a Saturday night) and it was relaxing and calming, and not packed with many tourists. I also enjoyed the little shop at the side where I got a couple of handmade notebooks as souvenirs for my friends. They are unique gifts that you can't find anywhere else, definitely much better than mass-produced souvenirs that you can buy at any stalls at Malioboro street. Please come and have a try at this restaurant, you will not regret!!

I really fall in love with this place! It is adorable. So comfy, really earth friendly, family friendly, and also 'me-time' friendly. You can hang out with your friends here and have conversation freely because this place is wi-fi free, perhaps so we could have quality time with our friends or our own self while sitting under the trees. This place offer various healthy foods, plastic-free eating tools of course, and that's what I love the most about this place. The service is quite fast and they are so friendly here. If you want to spend more time here, you can read books for this place has 2 mini libraries, and your kids can play some creative games that they've set here for kids. Or your kids can read too since this place has a mini library for kids' books. This place also has various handcrafted/handmade products, such as bags, accessories, natural soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc. Those stuffs are so affordable. I really hope to come back again next time I visit Jogja. You should make this place one of your destinations in Jogjakarta.

their foods now isnt like years ago. for a local people like me, they are taste ugly, amburadul. the steak tempe doesnt have texture, it wrecked when i cut it. it literally taste like cheap tempe, doesnt taste like meat at all. the kare fried rice was better but it was soo plain and nothing special for the price. shame that this resto doesnt represent jogja or indonesia taste at all. other than that was decent. also there is a like healthy hand made shop which is their only great thing.

You want to eat here if you are a vegetarian or vegan visiting Yogyakarta. Cozy, chill place. Very friendly and fast staff. The food we had was super tasty! They use local and organic ingredients. The final bill price was correct. The vegan smoothies with coconut milk are a must-try.

A tranquil restaurant that offers global cuisine and a buffet, as well as a terrace with sweeping country views. The restaurant is situated on the hills of a charming village in Prambanan, and has a luxurious take on traditional Javanese design. Food options are predominantly Asian and Western, including Chicken Steak Teriyaki, Abhayagiri Duck Speciale, Pal Salmon Panggang, and others.
The restaurant has a beautiful view. There is a stretch of rice fields in the middle of the restaurant, and you can view the Prambanan temple from here. The foods & beverages is great! Table setting is well-organized and clean. I spotted numerous wedding venues here, including one that I thought was particularly lovely for an intimate party.

part of a larger hotel resort. up a bit of a hill but manageable. kinda annoying that the menu is via a QR code and ya gotta view it on your phone but the food is excellent and worth the generally more expensive that usual for Indonesia price. great view even on a cloudy day. about 10 mins from the area temples. quick service. definitely recommended.

I would say, for the price, the taste and the quality of the food is subpar, I mean, they're expensive compare to other restaurants in Jogja Area so I expected a lot but quite disappointed. It tasted okay, but for the price it should've taste wayyy better. You pay for the ambience honestly. Their restaurant is beautiful, 'instagramable' I'd say, but yeah, don't expect too much. Plus if the weather is bad, they're not as beautiful, so came when the weather is good, and when it did, do reserve first because they tend to be quite packed then.

The place has stunning views of Yogyakarta! But I’d recommend to come in the morning for breakfast/brunch or at the evening for tea time or dinner, otherwise the weather would be too hot. The food is taking a long time to come. The staff is helpful, but only to some selected groups. It’s incredibly pricey, but perhaps the views compensate the price.

Great resto with delizious food and beverages. You can enjoy Prambanan temple from distance, paddy field, Yogya from up high. Remarkable place to spend with your beloved ones and family. Excellent services. We promise to come over and over again everytime we visit Yogya.

Located up on the hill and part of Sumberwatu Heritage Resort, the restaurant conveys the beauty of Yogyakarta and Central Java’s landscape fronted by Prambanan Temple and Mount Merapi. Best time to visit is in the evening, though it’s mostly overcrowded by visitors. It doesn’t offer wide selection of menu and the price is a bit on the high end with decent taste.

The scenery was nice from here, many refers this place as one the best view restaurant in Yogyakarta. From up here you can witness the Mt. Merapi, prambanan, paddy fields, and villages. The foods itself was good but might be quite expensive for some reason, my personal favorite would be fried cassava, they're so good. Lastly the place has great environment, neatly decorated, clean and even can ride a horse for certain price. Overall it's pretty recommended.

The restaurant, which offers views of the Prambanan temple, will be interesting at night. Delicious food. The staff is very helpful and kind. The interior design is also interesting. Lots of spots for selfies.

I've been dinning to several fine resto locals and internationals, this is one of the does-not-worth-your-time-and-money-just-skip-it kind of place. Food's taste are below average, ambience and view are so so, they do look good, presentations are well shown, just when you taste them, disappointment comes. That satay, it's so hard that you need so much effort to chew them, and oh that raw meat smell... that really turn my mood off. They serve this prawn dishes maybe a frozen not so fresh prawn, texture is mushy with a bitter after taste. They don't even can make a simple fish and chips!!! Fish is so dry, also with that kind of frozen kind of fish with bad after taste, and chips... oh my God, who can not deep fried a simple chips? it's wet, oily and ah... forget it i've lost in words. Think twice if you are looking for a place to dine. Only come if you curious, have some snacks or coffee, but please forget about the main course. About the price... be prepared, this place is waaayyy toooo bloody expensive, i mean, its f-in way too expensive. Really not worth the experience. Sorry i have to lower the rating down to 1 star (from 2 stars), because just after the dinner, some of us got a stomach problem. Please to dear management, do better with the quality control and the value of your menu. This is the first time I've ever so disappointed with a fine resto. To the Abhayagiri management, let me know if its possible to ask for a full refund. At least that's the simple & kind gesture for you to make my day. ... Update: It's been 6 months, and NO respond and NO approach from Abhayagiri management... good job!

I've know this place years ago, but it took me just few days ago to visit Abhayagiri. Everything seemed perfecf when I came here. I got the sunset capturing moment while I could also enjoy the dinner time with my hubby. Now I know why this place is very popular among tourists. 1. The concept of the building. It's so exotic. 2. The menu. I can't say the food nor drinks are cheap. It is still considered as expensive if you compare the price rate with other restaurants among DIY. I would rather say it worth price. You will find out why I can say this. 3. The service. All staff are so welcoming and warm. Love them. However.... I would suggest you to get reservation before your visit, so that you can pick your favorite spot dining/lunch seat.

Very scenic and beautiful location to watch the sunset. The weather was too cloudy so we couldn't see the mountain. The food was delicious and is of good portion.
