Schönbrunn Palace, an estate built in the 18th century, boasts of tours showcasing its luxurious rococo ceremonial halls. The palace gardens include a labyrinth and are open to visitors.
The palace is truly magnificent, especially with its vibrant colors. I absolutely loved it. The best part is, there's a huge garden all around where you can take a leisurely walk and just chill out. The combination of the stunning palace and the spacious garden is perfect for a peaceful and enjoyable time. If you're into grand places and nature, this palace with its surrounding garden is a fantastic choice.

It's a historical and important palace however not much area is open to the public. The grounds are vast and well maintained. It makes one feel that despite its empirical symbol, it was not an object of lavishness! It's worth visiting and learning about the female.monarch who fought her way in the Austrian court and left her mark.
Shivraj Sharma — Google review
U need half a day to entirely see this awestruck place. The wealth they had and how they lived. Wow. I took the standard tickets for the palace but next time I'll get the imperial or additional rooms to view. No need to waste tickets on the garden entrance.
Hassan Rabbani — Google review
Didn't go inside as I wanted to explore the Garden more. The main garden is free to the public with a lot of amazing statues. My personal favorite was the Obelisk tower! Great photo point at Gloriette Cafe

Schönbrunn is worth the money to tour and absolutely lived up to the hype. I’d love to return in the summer to tour the gardens - though we visited in March and therefore saw few crowds, which was a plus. I’d recommend the Grand Tour if it’s your first time - this tour gives you the most “bang for your buck” look at the palace interior.
Paul Fuchs — Google review
One of the beautiful places I’ve been in my whole life. You can walk the whole palace for free. I didn’t do any tours but I still had a great time there. I’m definitely going to come back!

Miraculous… Must visit place in Vienna. Very difficult to get tickets in holidays. Prior tickets booking in online is good also save our time and won’t ruin our plans. Don’t miss it. Need one day to visit everything.

Hofburg

Mentioned on

Museums
The Hofburg, originally an imperial palace and now home to the Austrian president, is a vast and ornate baroque structure with extensive interiors. It features elaborate marble foyers and hallways, as well as lavish living quarters for the Austrian monarchy. The Kaiserappartements, once the official living quarters of Franz Josef and Empress Elisabeth, are especially stunning in their chandelier-lit opulence.
If you want to know more about the young Empress Sisi who has fascinated everyone, this is the museum you should not miss. We did the full ticket with audio guide and silver collection. The guide is well done and everything it explains is interesting, the silver collection is cool you see the ostentatiousness live of royalty but a quick look is enough. You can see the Empress's dresses and all the rooms preserved and decorated with the style of the time, her office, bathroom etc ... the truth is that it is worth it and interesting.
Laia Serra Dav? — Google review
It is an impressive and imposing building that houses a variety of exhibits. I honestly can't understand the purpose of all these massive internal staircases that take up almost half of the palace. Finally, the Greek antiquities are as if they were simply stored there and not as if they were being exhibited.
Orestis - — Google review
If you like knights, royal horses, jousting and such the Imperial Armory is a must see! A collection of 125 suits of armour carefully catalogued by owner and circa. The museum/palace itself is work of art with grand halls, staircases and paintings. Take a peek at the elegance of long ago. The entrance and self-guided tour with audio was included with my Vienna Pass
Joni Garcia — Google review
This is a must-see in Vienna as it is more than thrilling and the history behind it is glorious. I suggest visiting it in the morning as it is less crowded. An interesting fact is that the president now lives in that castle. It is truly a masterpiece!
Sevastian Gavrilov — Google review
The place is MASSIVE! It has so much history and so many things to see! From the silver museum to the library to the sisi museum to the imperial rooms! It's a lot of fun but the tour is really long (about 90 minutes or so). The audio guide experience is really good! I got to learn a lot of things about the history of Austria and about the royal family! Some criticisms are that we can't take pictures at parts of the place (like sisi museum and imperial rooms) and that we can't connect Bluetooth earbuds to the audio guide remote. The amount of things you learn there is so much worth it though and the place is very well priced! I had a lot of fun there.

One the most important seats of power in Europe for centuries it is a must see for anyone interested in history. Fabulous palace full of history in the heart of enchanting Vienna. See the butterfly greenhouse attached to the palace for something for all ages from 1-99.

The Hofburg in Austria is an absolute gem that takes you on a captivating journey through history. As an avid traveler, I have visited numerous landmarks, but the Hofburg stands out as a place that truly encapsulates the essence of Austria's rich heritage. I was immediately struck by the impressive architecture and the sheer scale of the palace. The blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles creates a visual feast for the eyes, transporting visitors to a bygone era of opulence and grandeur. The attention to detail in every nook and cranny is simply astounding. The Hofburg's location in the heart of Vienna adds to its allure. Surrounded by charming streets, delightful cafes, and vibrant cultural attractions, it's the perfect starting point to explore the city. I recommend taking a leisurely stroll through the Burggarten, a beautiful park adjacent to the palace, for a moment of tranquility amidst the urban buzz. Whether you are a history enthusiast, an architecture aficionado, or simply seeking a taste of Austria's imperial past, the Hofburg is an absolute must-visit. It is a testament to the grandeur and cultural legacy of this remarkable country. Prepare to be enthralled by its timeless beauty and indulge in a journey through Austria's rich history.

A majestic place. Walking around the territory, you can appreciate the scale of the buildings, their architecture, decoration. And feel the greatness of Vienna. It is here that you can realize that this place once belonged to the kings))

This is also one of the iconic tourist attraction in Vienna. Once a winter residence of former Habsburg dynasty but now serve as the workplace of the Austria's President. Better to come here during daylight or early morning as you will see the magnificent beauty, the architectural structure and of course to escape from the throng of people. At night, the lights will add to its beauty. It was close when I come here.
John Paul Tuquib — Google review
If you have only got time to visit one attraction in Vienna, make it this. The palace complex houses paintings by the likes of Klimt.
Coco Qian — Google review
Loved it the first time I came here in summer of 2019 and still loved it again after four years. I’d say I prefer the summer time for this type of visit because it’s a vast area of space that gets quite windy and cold in January. Otherwise, you’ll be able to explore all the vast options when the weather is good. However, if you don’t mind the cold, the grounds are yours, albeit there’s not much to see except the museums. Perhaps this is when a tour guide would be most helpful.
Jelilat Kareem — Google review
Didn't go inside due to a tight schedule but the external architecture of this building is simply majestic and beautiful. Nevertheless, I was contented to be able to witness this marvel from the outside. There are also many beautiful buildings and churches at walking distance from Hofburg. Spend a day here walking around and you will not regret it

This place is amazing right in the middle of the city it’s a huge palace complex with several different museums and attractions all within the complex, we did the Imperial Jewels, Sussi Museum & Spanish Riding School in one day was excellent and all the attractions were included on the Vienna Passes we purchased. What a lovely building and day.

Must visit to feel the spirit of imperial Vienna, need full day as castle, park, zoo and some other points on the park territory. There are also touristic train around the park - for those who can’t walk so much! In Castle very good organised audio guide! Very good cafe and all territory with good desserts and coffee)))

This is spectacular place you must see when in Vienna. The architecture, decoration is very lavish and stunning, I really love it, it shows the Majesty and royalty of the kings. We visited the museum and the apartments the ticket was around 16 euro, the treasury ticket is separate.

Hey everyone... The Hofburg is the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty in Austria...Vienna itself is beautiful, you can find everything here... but for me it was mainly about the copy of destiny.... The relic and actually the weapon that killed Jesus Christ...
Ivan Apparition — Google review
Amazing historical place. Sweet weather, and a marvellous atmosphere. Definitely loved everything about the place including the people and the events organisers. Indeed there are a lot of historical places and museums in Austria but Hofburg palace is a special one. A must visit location!

So many amazing buildings in Vienna, but this is one of my favorites. It is simply overwhelming when you see it in person. Impossible to capture its awe with pictures, must be seen to be believed. I didn’t do the tours inside as I had a busy schedule, but I’m sure the inside is as beautiful as the outside. A must see in Vienna!

The Austrian Gallery Belvedere is a prestigious museum displaying an impressive collection of paintings from the Middle Ages to the present day. Highlights include works by some of Austria's most renowned artists, as well as pieces from the Art Nouveau and Fin de Siecle movements. The museum is a must-see for anyone interested in fine art, and its setting – within beautiful Belvedere Palace – cannot be beat.
Absolutely gorgeous place, if you're ever in Vienna, visiting this place must be on your list. It's super easy to reach using public transport or by foot and entrance to the gardens is free! Additionally there is a cafe on site where you can get some drinks. You can purchase tickets to visit the art exhibitions and the gorgeous buildings from the inside and get an even more beautiful view.

Great gallery in the heart of Vienna to see the Klimt collection. The Belvedere palace is very grand has a large grounds with beautiful gardens to stroll around between the upper and lower gallery. Stop in and enjoy the art and the lovely grounds. The famous Kiss by Klimt is on display here for you to enjoy.
Mark Hayes — Google review
I visited the upper gallery and gardens. There are different types of tickets and the Klimt collection is on the upper gallery. There was a classic music playing at the entrance, I think celebrating 300 years of existence. The gallery has a beautiful collection, some pieces moved from the Art History Museum. This museum is interesting easily accessible by tram line 0 or Metro line 1 and walk a few minutes. Not a long queue for the ticket office and the architecture of the rooms is beautiful, not only the Art pieces. Have fun.
Mario Saraiva — Google review
Very expensive but just like all museums in Vienna. Great collection and accessibility interactives. Download the app Smartify to scan the works and get the audioguide. The museum shop is really good and they definitely capitalize on their works. The kiss is just breathtaking.
Veronica C. — Google review
Really enjoyed the museum! I think they must be installing new exhibits in the Upper Belvedere because several areas were closed off and it felt like a fairly small museum, but for €20 student price for both the upper and low it really felt worthwhile. It was amazing seeing the Klimt works in person and I liked that they had plenty of information for people like me who didn't pay extra for an audio guide. The Trees exhibit at the lower museum was also really interesting.
Ivy Antunes — Google review
Spectacular collection of Klimt’s work. Also some very cool exhibits and art from Vienna. Audio tour was alright convenient but pretty much just read the description to you. Also explained the history of the building very well with a timeline exhibit Beautiful building and they have a/c. Definitely worth the experience
Zak Herm — Google review
Amazing art in a beautiful environment! Especially Klimt's 'Kiss' and 'Judith' wäre mesmerizing.
Sabine Sieben — Google review
Highly recommend to visit this palace if you are a fan of Klimt. Works by various artists are also on display here but The Kiss is the crowning jewel of the collection. The gardens are grandiose and also worth a visit/stroll.
Mailene Melendez — Google review
Such an amazing place and palace. There are 3 floors entirely full of works of art, there are also Klimt’s Kiss and Jacques Louis David’s Napoleon but even the rooms are breathtaking. I loved it. The garden is beautiful. I really recommend paying a visit there.
Emanuela Valentina Passer? — Google review
A must see place, would be better to allocate at least 3 hrs time and buy tickets in advance. As a palace, not very much to see, but it is so nicely preserved and protected for many years. As a museum, it is a unique experience. The presentation of the art pieces from different schools is really so easy to follow and educative. There are paintings of many renowned artists such as Gustav Klimt and Claudia monet.

Sights & Landmarks
The Gothic cathedral St. Stephan's Cathedral is located in the heart of Vienna and boasts an ornate spire, catacombs, and a treasury museum. It is a popular Instagram spot for panoramas of the cityscape from either the tower or the outside.
Very very stunning church in the heart of the city. Made it there during mass in the evening, but will definitely be going back today to get the feel of the place during the day. Amazing architecture from both inside and outside. It’s jaw dropping. And it has such an amazing/positive/calming energy. The is no entrance fee to the church itself but if you wanna climb the tower and its 300+ steps or to see the catacombs you need to pay. Will add an update after I do the tours today.
Ava Tamizifar — Google review
Totally worth visiting it's free to enter. We visited in the evening and it was almost empty likely because tour groups go in the morning. The amazing detail in these buildings is always amazing and something worth experiencing. You can enjoy it inside and out.
Kudakwashe Zimunya — Google review
Beautiful church, most of the main parts are free to visit so I can't think of a reason to not visit. There are some parts of the church which you need to pay to enter, I paid for the catacombs tour and recommend that. I also paid to go up the north tower, you get good views of Vienna and a good look at the amazing tiled roof, however I am not sure it is worth the asking price of EUR 6 - take a look at the photos below and decide for yourself whether you want to pay to go up. You can only buy tickets in person at the church, you cannot buy them online in advance, also they only accept cash, no cards.
Alan Chan — Google review
Be fit if you're going up the south tower worth it for the view. North tower little lift ride to the top great to see the tiled roof up close. The catacombs tour was good. I got out of the afternoon heat for half an hour, which is very informative. Highly recommended to buy an all-inclusive ticket

St. Stephen's Cathedral is an architectural masterpiece that left me in awe. The intricate details of its Gothic design, including the stunning stained glass windows and towering spires, are truly captivating. The interior is equally impressive, with its majestic altar and historical artifacts. Climbing the South Tower was a highlight, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Vienna. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and architecture lovers!
Khadij Brz — Google review
This was an incredibly interesting and beautiful place to visit. There are several options for tickets, we chose the € 20 all inclusive per person one. This allows a visit to the Cathedral itself plus both the North and South towers. One has an elevator and the other over 300 steps.Even though we could access both, we went with the elevator. The view was fantastic, both of the city and the rest of the Cathedral. Then we had a guided tour of the crypt, absolutely brilliant and a great tour guide. The tour was in German and English and highly worth taking. I would highly recommend this tour and if at all possible, try to be there for 10 am at least before the crowd. This part of Vienna is incredibly busy with tourists.. Also tickets are not available online and must be purchased in person in the Cathedral. This is cash only, as is the gift shop.

This is a must see for Vienna! The architecture is stunning. Once you’re inside the cathedral it is totally majestic and grand. My 69 yo father and I climbed Stephansdom South Tower - 343 steps in total. The views from the top were grand. Highly recommend!

The awe-inspiring spires and intricate details make it a must-visit landmark. The interior is equally impressive, with stunning stained glass windows and ornate decor. Whether you're drawn to its religious significance or appreciate remarkable craftsmanship, St. Stephen's Cathedral stands as a symbol of Vienna's cultural and spiritual heritage. A visit to this iconic site is a journey through time, offering a glimpse into the heart of Vienna's enchanting past.

Behold the majestic splendor of Saint Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, a timeless masterpiece that transcends mere architecture to embody the very soul of Austria's rich history and cultural heritage. As you step through its ancient gates, you are transported to a realm where the whispers of the past mingle with the echoes of the present. Towering spires reach towards the heavens, their intricate facades adorned with intricate carvings that tell stories of triumph and tribulation, of faith and fortitude. Inside, a symphony of light dances through stained glass windows, painting the hallowed halls with a kaleidoscope of colors that inspire awe and reverence. Each step unveils a new wonder: from the grandeur of the nave to the serenity of the chapels, every corner holds a treasure waiting to be discovered. But it is not only the physical beauty of Saint Stephen's Cathedral that captivates the soul. It is the palpable sense of history that permeates its walls, the echoes of centuries of prayers and praises that linger in the air. Here, amid the hushed whispers of pilgrims and the solemn strains of organ music, one cannot help but feel a connection to something greater than oneself. Saint Stephen's Cathedral is not merely a building; it is a living testament to the enduring power of faith and the indomitable spirit of humanity. It is a place where the past meets the present, where the sacred and the sublime converge in a harmony that transcends time itself. To visit Saint Stephen's Cathedral is to embark on a journey through the annals of history, to walk in the footsteps of kings and queens, poets and peasants. It is an experience that will stay with you long after you have left its hallowed halls, a reminder of the enduring beauty and majesty of the human spirit.
Flavio — Google review
I recommend you to take all in one ticket. You can buy it inside, go to the left and you will see the entry to the South Tower. Buy a ticket and go to the North tower. To get there, go out and walk around the church to the left side. You will see the entry to the North tower. It was not easy to get to the top, pretty narrow staircase corridor and long way up. The reason why you should go to this tower first because it closes earlier (see photo). You can observe night city from the South tower only.
Viktor Tsvetkov — Google review
I had the opportunity to go inside and check out this incredibly historic cathedral located in the city centre of Vienna. Both the inside and outside of the cathedral are stunning and picturesque. It is free to enter the church but there is also certain areas of the church that you need too pay to enter. I definitely could have spent more time in here and would definitely do it again when in Vienna and definitely recommend stepping inside if you haven’t at least once for a few minutes. At the time we we’re here it was mid November and there was a large Christmas market set up in the city center and we were wondering around on the evening when the area was most lively. Definitely wish to come back in the future.

Amazing cathedral! This cathedral is one of the highlights of the city. The exterior is very beautiful (especially the Eagle on the roof) and interior is also really impressive. Going inside is free of charge but if you want to go further or to the catacombs there is a charge.

Such a stunning piece of architecture! One of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever been to in Europe. The detailed work here is marvellous. I’d say it’s a must visit if you’re in Vienna. You won’t regret it.
Alfred Aquino — Google review
Check times. Closed for tourists during mass. Free entry but pay for central bit and catacomb tour. Very busy when we went around 13.30. It is truly subjective as it does depend on how much churches and cathedrals you’ve visited. We have visited too many I think especially the ones in Italy and even in England, hence this was a bit underwhelming. Gothic design. Tick. Ornate carvings. Tick. Not all of the outside has been cleaned which is authentic I think. We could see how history and time have affected it. Black soot/smoke from centuries gone. One thing to commend it for being different - amazing roof!! That, I love. ❤️

Wow, St. Stephen's Cathedral is incredibly impressive, its size is breathtaking. The beautiful Gothic building is a symbol of Vienna. From the cathedral tower is a wonderful view of the city, but I warn you, there are 343 stairs to climb and it is very narrow, but it is worth it, I went up in June at 36°C outside 🤣

Beautiful cathedral! The view from above is worth all the effort to climb the narrow staircase with 343 steps. The acoustics inside is fantastic. If you manage to attend to a concert, consider yourself a lucky ! The cathedral choir is very good!

Beautiful Cathedral in central Vienna. While you do not have to pay to enter the church, there is a fee to tour the entire inside of the church. The line was too long the day we arrived, so we did not visit everything. Still beautiful and can take great photos from the free area.
Michael Mack — Google review
Wow. I'll be yet another person to add a 5* review to this magnificent church! Stunning in its exterior, the beauty manages to extend to its interior. We made it during a mass which was great to experience and then visited again in the evening. Let the pictures speak as opposed to my review, and in reality, if you're in Vienna you're probably going to visit :) Ultimately, my only gripe is that they only accept cash for tours.
Joe T — Google review
The church is beautiful! A must see in Vienna. I like that they have divided their tour into sections and prices and you can buy an all inclusive or just buy the ones that you want. We bought the cathedral and catacombs. Cathedral has a QR code tour on your phone that is very informative. The catacombs were amazing and a little scary. Must see. We wanted to go to treasury too but the timings didn’t work for us. Do check opening times because they seem to open and close for visitors throughout the day/week, depending on services and mass.
Ameena Sethi — Google review
Very beautiful cathedral. Since I came on Sunday, it's a good time for praying and no ticket entry but you can donate with buying souvenirs, and you can buy ticket inside if you want to look further more. 🙏🙏

We loved St. Stephen’s! We decided to buy tickets to the catacomb tour and the South Tower and we felt that we saw plenty. I think we spent about 10€ per person total to see both. We loved the catacombs tour. Our guide was very enthusiastic and gave us a lot of information about the catacombs. It was very in depth and in both German and English. You pay at the end of the tour in cash (they have change). The south tower was quite a trek - not for the faint of heart or claustrophobic. The stairs are very narrow and you end up walking past people going the opposite way. It gets very hot as well, so I’m not sure I’d recommend going on a hot day. We went on a rainy day and it was cooking, but thankfully the windows at the watch tower were open with a nice breeze to cool down at. You pay for tickets at the entrance of the South Tower.

You must visit this cathedral when you are in Vienna. It is the most beautiful church in the city and probably in Central Europe. The exterior of this gothic cathedral was build from 1300-1500. It used to have the highest church tower in the world, and when you enter this cathedral you will be amazed on how much effort the Viennese put in building this master piece. This church entry is free. But you can also visit some of the paid areas of the cathedral

I think it is one of the most important cathedrals in Gothic architecture. It is truly a magnificent work, it also has ties with the Ottoman Empire. It was used as a shelter during Ottoman sieges, and its bells were also used to warn Turkish raiders...

Amazing gothic cathedral. The main cathedral in Vienna. You can get an all inclusive ticket for 25€ to go up both towers, the museum and the catacombs or it's about 7€ for each thing individually. We just visited the catacombs as my husband had been up the tower previously. The catacombs are well worth the visit! The tour guide we had was very good. The tour was done in both German and English and very informative and the tour guide was very charismatic.

The construction began in 1137 and completed in 1578, however due to circumstances such as fire and WW2, it needs to renovate or reconstruct until to this time. Anyway, this century old cathedral is one of the marvelous I've ever seen. It is an iconic tourist spot located in the heart of Vienna. The interior and exterior are jaw-dropping. It is a free entrance and yet a long queue especially in the afternoon. There is a portion inside the cathedral to purchase ticket entrance. During my visit, a throng of people passes by and you can't concentrate nor roaming around. It was such an honor to see, feel and experience a hundred centuries structural buildings. Recommendable tourist spot but I prefer you to come here as early in the morning to avoid people.

The Third Man Museum is dedicated to memorabilia from the filming of the classic film, which takes place in postwar Vienna. The museum includes artifacts from locations such as the sewers, Prater Park and the Wiener Riesenrad Ferris wheel. It is a fun and adventurous place for film lovers to explore, with items such as props and costumes from the movie on display.
The Third Man Museum is a unique and one-of-a-kind museum. Karin and Gerhard have created a real gem of a museum. Hundreds of photos, posters and many special exhibits about the film and Austria in the post-war period. We travelled all the way from Chicago to visit this privately run museum and it was more than worth it. I would give it six stars if I could. The passion that has been put into this project is outstanding.
Michael Tokarski — Google review
Awesome museum! And not only for The Third Man movie fans. It is divided into 3 parts: a) the movie, b) the zither / short projection, c) preWW2 and postWW2 Vienna. The 1st part has all imaginable stuff about the movie. It had to be impossibly hard to get their hands on all the memorabilia. The 2nd part includes a 2 minute projection of parts of the movie - it is projected on an old projector from the 30s. The 3rd part is dedicated mostly to the city of Vienna - pre-war era and post-war era. Quite sad things on display but as it all happened, it is a great exhibition. All text is in both German and English. The friendly staff speaks English quite well.

My husband and I visited with a Rick Steve's tour in early August. We still have not seen the movie, but The Third Man Museum was fascinating. Not nearly enough time allowed to study all the history that Gerhard has secured over the years. Would love to watched the interviews he has running throughout the museum. Wish there was a way to view them online here at home. Purchased his book and have read it completely, as least what is in English. Again, amazing pictures and historical information about WWII in his book. As a side note, Gerhard also was our guide at another local museum in Vienna. First time in my life (Donnie) that I enjoyed a museum tour. His story telling brought the pictures to life. Thank you Gerhard for a great morning in Vienna.

It's more than just a film museum! It has also lots of materials for the history of the world war two period. You also got to watch the original film in the original projector for 2 minutes! Highly recommended!

Very nice experience in a unique and innovate project! Keep your passion alive and I hope that next time I visit Vienna you have expanded the museum even more!! I also strongly recommend to purchase an Anton Karas album because it s so unique and relatively rare!! The people of the museum are fantastic and very helpful!! As for the end i would like to suggest to the owner, after a little chat we had, to visit again Greece because now it s way better than he remembers it!! Keep the good job!!

Definitely visit The Third Man Museum when you come to Vienna . Limited open times so check ahead.

It was an amazing experience! The employees were absolutely incredible - very polite and helpful. I didn't speak German, but they were very understanding and told me a lot of interesting information about the museum in English. I highly recommend going there, even if you haven't watched the movie. It's a great place for photography lovers too.

Learn about the history of Vienna immediately after WW2. The museum focus on the Move Third Man as a representation of that era.
Robert Pacheco — Google review
Absolutely fantastic place, whether or not you are a The Third Man fanatic. Incredible history of Vienna before, during and after WW2. But truly amazing collection of artifacts from the movie: it's script, stars, location, production - everything. The most amazing thing is that this is a labor of love - not a commercial enterprise - created by an astonishing couple who are passionate about the film, The Third Man, and the incredible moment in history that it captures. Besides having collected and creating the phenomenal exhibits, the couple - Gerhard and Karin - are the most lovely people. When you come to the museum you will undoubtably meet them and instantly strike up a rapport. To my astonishment, they ended up giving me a gift: a film poster that they took right off their wall!! I will certainly visit them - and the museum - again and again.

What a unique experience. It was a joy to explore each room and listen to Gerhard sharing his incredible knowledge on the film and the history of post-war Vienna. This is a must see museum for all film nerds.
Kasra Karimi — Google review
Not only a fantastic collection of Third Man memorabilia, but also plenty of information about Vienna during and after the war. It was really lovely to chat with the owners who are both very friendly and clearly super passionate. The two young women working there were both very friendly and informative too. It was cool to watch a clip of the movie on the old projector, as well as see the new grave exhibit! I really enjoyed my visit and I’d highly recommend!

A really interesting private Museum. A must if you wish to understand how life was in the Cold War in Vienna. No waiting time at entrance, but hosted in three different spaces, some underground (no lift). Young guides very friendly and helpful. A suggestion if you wish to fully understand what was the life in those terribile times:1) first watch the movie (many visitors in the film location have not yet seen the movie and didn't realize how important was and still is) and 2) visit the location nearby (advance booking strongly suggested, due to the bad smelling a face cover is most recommended,as in my pucture) 3)then visit the outstanding Museum:a must and a treasury of historical memorabilia. A couple of hours to fully appreciate the exibition .Vienna was occupied by Four Powers and The Third Man,a masterpice,a symbol, of the disaster of the war.
Daniele Moro — Google review
If like me you love the film The Third Man then this should be high on your list, it is one of the most informative museums I've ever been to. The amount of documents, personal letters, videos is unbelievable so much that my partner who's not seen the film felt like he watched it 😂 we were talking to an American visitor who had been to the museum over 20 times (even he recommends here) it is that good. I feel like I've learnt more about Vienna and the film, we even spotted the infamous doorway with the statues on either side after we left. The staff and owner are lovely and knowledgeable, keep up the good work and will recommend here to anyone I know whose visiting

Plachutta Wollzeile is a traditional Austrian dining style restaurant with great food, lively atmosphere, and lovely service. Their famous Tafelspitz (boiled beef) is delightful, but also their schnitzel is the best during time in Vienna.
Best schnitzel ever. Good service, amazing quality food. Prices are high of course because it is one of the most famous viennese restaurants. Beware that there are extra charges for bread, splitting dishes etc. Just know this is not a cheap restaurant by any means.

The best goose liver I've ever had, with the best toast. Best butter. Best potatoes. Great meat and broth. Waiters were super nice and professional. Food was well worth it's price, even though it was expensive. But you can easily find similarly priced food with way worse quality.
Martin O?kovsk? — Google review
We had the signature Tafelspitz with hash browns and chopped spinach on the side. The beef was very tender and delicious, but the broth was way too salty to my own taste. While the ambience and the service of the restaurant are nice, the price only reflects on the whole experience rather than the food itself imho.
Shih-Kai Wang — Google review
Food is overpriced & poor service. Ordered the Wiener schnitzel which taste normal & tafelspitz was too salty. Service was poor because a few waiters that passed by have ignored us as we raised our hands to order something.
Michelle Wong — Google review
Made a reservation and still had to wait for an hour or so to get seated, unfortunately. Got a free drink as compensation, but they expected a tip.. The food was very good, but a little bit salty.

The beef soup was just amazing - love the flavor and how soft the meat is; also love how they thought you the traditional way to enjoy the dish! Waiters are also very friendly and helpful. Very educational while the meal is absolutely yummy.

I’m glad to try the food here during our stays in Austria. The portion wasn’t big and suitable for visitors to taste the Austria traditional food. Another great thing was that it opened late so we could set it as our last destination after the long sightseeing day.

The service was terrible we went to eat and it took them more 2 hours and 30 minutes just to bring our main dishes they brought us soup at first witch was very good the main dishes needed more flavor the schnitzel was really good tho I can’t say anything bad about it the salmon was terrible it had no flavor no seasoning you could barely taste the fish the only thing that I tasted was the tomato sauce on the salmon the staff were so unatentive they really didn’t care when we ordered drinks o got a mock tail it took them over 40 minutes to bring it and three reminders I asked for a glass and they forgot the staff either need a raise or an attitude switch very bad service and they didn’t do anything we basically became staff they didn’t Evan try to clean up the servers asked us to give them things but not like once or twice he stood there expecting us to do it !! TERRIBLE SERVICE !!

Managed to make a reservation at 6PM. The place was nice. We ordered the combination boiled beef and wiener schnitzel. The soup was salty, but the meat was tender. They served the wrong order at the beginning but they helped us to changed with a new pot. The schnitzel was big. The apple horseradish sauce and the bread were the highlight. Overall a nice experience.

Wonderful dinner at Plachutta! Have already recommended it to friends and look forward to another visit. The Schulterscherzl was delicious!!! The beef so tender and the sauces made it even better; and the broth and bone marrow were incredibly flavorful. Highly recommend!

A Viennese institution Famous for its boiled beef Choose your cut of meat and they will serve it to you in a pot on the table Other selections also available Service was good (but not great - busy, and could have been a little friendlier) We made a reservation and then had to wait beyond that time also. You will enjoy your time - worth a visit

I really like the Viennese cuisine experience, they very present very well, it’s easy for first time visitors like me. The place and service were both nice and I liked the Tafelspitz very much. Spread marrow onto a slice of toasted black bread and season with salt and pepper, really tasty!!!

A must-visit if in Vienna. Amazing traditional Restaurant with a great ambience in the centre of old Vienna, super vibrant covered terrace and great attention by staff Even if I did ask the Wiener Schnitzel and not the World famous Tafelspitz, I enjoyed an amazing dinner, finished with a delicious dessert, the Kaiserschmarrn with Red fruit sauce.... Absolutely stunning! Try it!

Delicious traditional food with very friendly service. Probably need to make a reservation for dinner, it was quite busy. The beef soup felt like it fed my soul and the schnitzel was the best we had by far. The sides were also excellent

Great Viennese cuisine. Their outdoor patio was packed and their atmosphere was very classy. We were just looking for a casual spot for dinner, so this was a little too high-end for the moment, but the food and experience was amazing. I do recommend this restaurant for a fancy dinner out!

First thing I want to highlight is that the service here is impeccable. From the moment I entered, the service was warm and friendly. The bread served was warm and toasty, and goes perfect with the butter. I ordered the signature boiled beef soup, along with the side of vegetables. To me, the soup itself was decent, but didn’t taste particularly special. It tasted just like a salty broth, and felt like some herbs or flavouring would have added more to it. The beef and bone marrow was good, and I particularly enjoyed spreading the bone marrow with the bread. It went well with the sauce. The roasted potato side was really good and crispy, so so order it. Overall, I would suggest to come and try the soup. It is worth a visit.

Very delicious food. We took the Schnitzel and the Gans, which were both very good. You definitely need a reservation and be aware if the additional 4 Euro some some for the cutlery be layed down? Didn't get the concept regarding this part as we also of course tipped the service, which was very nice.
Joy — Google review
Recommend to make reservation. We were lucky and got a table around 6pm. Don't risk it, particularly if you are short on time. This is a must in Vienna. Ambiance is a mix of local families and tourists, but this is not the typical touristy place. Service was fast, not too friendly but expedient. Place is crowded, and they gave us a table w/o reservation so will give them a pass on that. On to food. You will be tempted to go for Schnitzel and I will not judge. It is really good: tender, crispy, buttery. Go with potato salad or cucumber salad so you have something fresh in your palate to balance the Schnitzel. Now, locals share Tafelspitz and you should too. Do a bit of research and pick the meat that best suits you. Procedure : start with the soup, they will bring a big bowl to share and individual bowls for each person. They should serve you the first scoops. I had 'pancakes' (thin slices of thin bread) as a bed for the soup. Delicious! Then, go for the bone marrow. Yes, just do it please. I have eaten it since i was a kid. They do a good job here. Take the bone marrow out of the bowl and spread it on your bread. It is a perfect companion to the soup. The meat was a bit underwhelming, i tried the mint sauce and made it more interesting, with more texture. We had to skip dessert, as this was plenty! Excellent dinner for a cold winter night. It will get you satisfied, nurtured and ready for a nice walk in one of the Economist's most livable cities in the world. Go on enjoy

We are visiting Vienna from Australia as tourists. My old Austrian university buddy recommended this restaurant and the famous Tafelspitz is this restaurant’s premier dish. My friend made a reservation by phone on our behalf. We decided to ring an hour before reservation to ensure booking was still valid. Unfortunately even though my nephew spoke in German to phone operator, apparently our booking did not exist. So I sent a message to my Austrian buddy, told him the situation & he called in German to confirm. Apparently they did not understand my nephews German which is understandable as it’s his “third” language. Due to the initial bad interaction with losing our booking, we were worried that it might be a terrible experience (also due to other bad reviews)… BUT……. Wow!!!!!!!! 🤩👌 - service: fast, professional, friendly, impeccable - atmosphere: fantastic - food: exquisite highly recommend (from a picky eater) Best dessert: kaiserschmarrn. To die for yum 🤤 Can’t fault this place. So happy we didn’t just end up eating Japanese near our hotel!!

Very successful restaurant 👌 A reservation in advance is required or, at least, is recommended. You will have 2 hours for your time, but it's enough. The austrian cuisine and the beef are worth to be tried especially there.

Easily the best meal we had in Vienna. We had the tafelspitz and the goulash - both phenomenal. The restaurant appears very formal, but we weren’t the only diners in casual clothing. Good idea to book in advance if possible!

Strongly recommend the Tafelspitz with spinach, potatoes Rosti and pancakes. The meat is extremely tender and pairs well with the provided sauces. The restaurant is elegant, cozy and the service is great.

Had lunch at the famous Plachutta last week. My wife had the legendary Tafelspitz and I had Wiener Schnitzel. My WS was fantastic 👍 although the cold potato slices in vinegar I hardly touched. They never asked if I’d Like Bratkartoffeln with my Schnitzel . I personally think the Tafelspitz is totally overrated and over priced. €38 for two pieces of slow cooked beef in a broth. Spinach from the freezer! Please ? 😳 the Kaiserschmarrn was ok. but what really is a scandal. Was the charge of €4.80 per person for the Couvert. €9.60 for what ?? 🤔 3 pieces of mini bread rolls and the decking of the table !! Scandalous !! Pity. Great atmosphere though and super friendly staff. I suppose you have to go to say you’ve eaten there. In 2014 my wife and I ate in the No1 restaurant in the world at the time. El Celler de Can Rocca, in Girona. I think I know what I’m talking about when it comes to eating out in nice restaurants.

Food is amazing. Meat tastes really good. But it is crowded and the tables are so close to eachother. Waiters have to serve all the time, you feel they are annoyed and tired. They want to be fast and sometimes with all the work they can't be very well organized. That obviously caught our attention. Also the noise of all the customers... so I rated the atmosphere and service a bit lower. It is worth the food though. I will go again.
R Y — Google review
Very nice restaurant and good food. 4/5 because of the price you pay (47,30 2pers for the signature menu + 9,60for potatoes + 9€for the sauces) you get a very expensive soup with very little meat and vegetables in it for 2 person… desserts were good but we felt that they were overpriced as well but the worst thing was the bottle of water for 8,70€.. water more expensive than my beer and the cocktail that my girlfriend took.. that’s just hilarious. We felt that 111€ was too much for this, we are used to high prices because we live in Paris. Good place but be prepared that they charge everything separately and its quite expensive, but the food quality is very good.

The austrian restaurant Figlmüller is famed for its giant pork schnitzels which are served with a side salad and a potato salad. The waitstaff at Figlmüller dress in vintage black and white attire and claim 1905 as the year the schnitzel was born.
I was in Vienna for the day and quickly searched up the best schnitzel in town and this is the first restaurant that came up. The interior is high quality and old school as well. The service was fast and friendly. The schnitzel was so huge that it barely fit on the plate! The potato salad was the best that I’ve ever had. My friend ordered the glazed calf ribs which came in a delicious gravy. Overall a great experience!

Oh, this was so good! 😌 Where to start? The first thing you should know is that this is a very popular restaurant. When we arrived there were queues coming out of the building and note it was very cold, so you know people really wanted the food here. We had a reservation so after skipping the queue an being seated it was just a matter of deciding what to eat. I went for the schnitzel of course and my partner had a dumpling with potatoes. I wanted to know what all the fuss was about but now I understand what I've been missing out on. If you like tasty meat dishes this schnitzel is so delicious 😋. The other dishes were nice too. As for dessert we opted for the Kaiserschmarrn... Oh my! It was amazing! Light sweet and well balanced 👌😃 The staff were very friendly despite it being incredibly busy and the atmosphere was warm, modern and welcoming. It was a nice way to round off our day in Vienna. You must go!

First of all reserve your spot otherwise you will end up in a lone for more than an hour. Their potato salad is the best in the city. They add a sauce to it which tastes incredible. The place is well known for their schnitzel so don't forget that. Their service is perfect. Everything is thought of, well placed in order and ontime. Their food price is very reasonable in comparison to the service that you get.

We were not able to make a reservation because it was all booked for about a month ahead… we waited outside about an hour to get in… the food was amazing! We had their signature schnitzel and draft beer and fresh mixed salad and potato salad… everything was really good! If you have enough time to make a reservation ahead highly recommend this place!

Figlmüller Bäckerstraße is an absolute gem in Vienna's culinary scene. The star of the show? Undoubtedly, their enormous schnitzel. From the first bite, it's evident why this dish is legendary. The perfectly crispy exterior gives way to tender, flavorful meat inside. Accompanied by traditional sides, like potato salad, it's a symphony of taste and texture. Just to make it even more perfect a glass of any white wine is highly recommended. For starters a soup was all we needed. A five-star experience through and. The ambiance adds to the experience, with its cozy yet elegant setting. Impeccable service ensures every visit is memorable. through, Figlmüller Bäckerstraße is a must-visit for any food enthusiast.

Very nice restaurant and location. It was all typical dishes and they are all super good and great quality! I’d definitely recommend the veal Schnitzel. The potato salad is SO good!!! Really like the Austrian style for it. We also tried the typical soup with the bread dumpling which was very nice on a cold evening. Elemental pan-fried was good too, if you like that cheese, the taste is def not intense or surprising but still good. The rose wine was AMAZING, if you like wine, get it, it’s quite fruity and fresh! And don’t forget about the typical desert and to leave tips. Overall, it was great and exactly what I expect and wanted when I first book it but it won’t be spectacular food either. Also, book a table, very easy and you avoid the long queue outside! Nice service.

The best veal Schnitzel I have ever had. The restaurant is very good and the atmosphere is very nice inside the restaurant. True, you have to wait a little bit to get a table but at the end you will get a table and it’s worth waiting for. The staff was very friendly and we had a great dinner there with the veal schnitzel and the vegetarian dish and the potato salad. Very delicious. It is a little bit expensive but it’s worth it.

We ordered the classic schnitzel and the goulash dish. Both were delicious and definitely enough for 2 hungry guys. The restaurant is very nice and the atmosphere is great. Although the experience was great overall- our waiter gave us the worst experience, it felt like he’s doing us a favor talking to us and bringing the check - definitely not a pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend - I’m assuming not all of the stuff in the restaurant are like this.

We reserved a spot two weeks before, and we were lucky because there was a big line. The restaurant itself is like a maze, a lot of different rooms. The people around were young groups and families, a really friendly atmosphere. We ordered a beef schnitzel with tomato salad and potato salad. The schnitzel really is amazing, they give you knifes that aren't sharp at all since you just don't need it. The dish cuts easily, with great taste. I also cannot ignore the salads - both have amazing taste, really great! Overall experience was really good, with fair prices. Recommended for all!

Nice, traditional restaurant for a genuine Wiener schnitzel. Not much than that though. A big, efficient tourist spot. Spot, not a trap. Most likely you’ll need to join a fairly long q to get inside. Quite fair value for money especially taking location under consideration.

So yummy! We ordered the Wiener schnitzel and the vegetable lentils with brioche dumplings. The Wiener schnitzel was thin and savoury and tasted very delicious with lemon, but what really stole the show was the vegetable lentils. Wow it was savoury, warm, comforting and so delicious. It was delicious! An unassuming dish but in my opinion a must order. The restaurant is very crowded so I highly Recommend making a reservation!

Veal and pork schnitzel at one of the original schnitzel restaurants in Vienna. Pork was so large, it was overflow from the plate. Rye sourdough was good, and came in a paper sac, but four small slices was not enough for the suggested caramelized onion butter. Dressing for both the potato salad, served with micro greens, and frisée were a little on the sweeter side, though delicious. Overall a great restaurant in the heart of the old city.
Debbie C — Google review
Despite the fact that this is a very crowded, touristic restaurant we enjoyed the schnitzel twice. The food was really good. The only thing we didn't like was that our waiter on the First night already gave himself a 10% tip. The waiter on our second night wasn't so pushy and asked the correct amount.

Most famous restaurant in the world. It was a long queue on Saturday, luckily they have a table for 2 so waited maybe 30 mins. The schnitzel is so good and big. Boiled beef is also full of flavour and surprised me. The browned potato is so nice and i almost love the boiled beef more than schnitzel.

I tried the original Wiener schnitzel with fries but also I grabbed a bite from the potato salad as well, I really love how soft the schnitzel was however I can't tell the same thing for it's taste. You can find the same quality stuff at other places as well. I congratulate them due to their well pr but all the hype didn't meet with my expectations.

Huge schnitzel, that’s what you expect… it was otherwise a bit on the simple side. For sure good, if you are a meat lover. Nothing for you, when you are more on a balanced diet with vegetables. The potato salad was delicious! The vegetarian schnitzel option is a 3/5.

waiting for entry is a leisurely hour. there were four of us. We ordered schnitzels, potato and tomato salad and soups. soup - nothing special, very average, not worth the price. amazing schnitzel - perfectly patted and fried. there are no downsides. the potato salad was outstanding, the tomato salad was very good. Unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. after us, 5 people came in and were served by another waiter, they got their food 25 minutes before us(?!). They had already finished eating and we were still waiting. the waiter who served us was averagely polite, which cannot be said about the rest of the staff we observed. prices high. I don't know if we will come back.

We have been continuously visiting this restaurant since 14 years ago. The Wiener Schnitzel’s food quality has been changed. Probably there has many customers and they don’t hit the meat too flat to make it more thin and crispy . The potatoes salad is a must order dish which they are best potatoes salad in the whole vienna . The Bärlauch Creme soup is the seasonal soup starting from March till Mid April . The soup tastes good but a bit salty which the saltiness suits the local people‘s taste buds. We placed two photos of Wiener schnitzel (2014 and 2024 ) which shows the size and crispness have changed.

Wonderful waiters, incredible schnitzels, unforgettable potato salad and surprisingly good recommendation of plum pancake desserts which the whole table enjoyed. Very busy so book ahead. Service is good but not swift.

ordered one veal and one chicken. both were excellent but found the veal to be the juicier and softer of the two. expect big portions- chicken schnitzel is larger than the plate and the veal comes as two pieces. would also recommend the potato salad and tomato salad as they were both refreshing sides to the meal.
Thejas K — Google review
It is possible to make a reservation via the restaurant’s website and I was able to skip the queue - not so nice to be waiting outside when it is raining as there is no shelter. I was assigned a table and the order was taken very quickly. The portion is too big, if they would offer a half portion, I would give it one more star. This is probably the 2nd best schnitzel I’ve ever had, the batter tastes like egg yolk, the cutlet is thin and tender. The best thing is the potato salad, sweet, tangy, with some onions.
So_So — Google review
I recently dined at Figlmüller Bäckerstraße, and it was an experience that exceeded my expectations. The highlight of my visit was definitely the schnitzel. I tried both the cheese and turkey ham schnitzel and the classic beef schnitzel. The cheese and turkey ham schnitzel was a delightful surprise, offering a delicious twist on the traditional dish. It was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The beef schnitzel was equally impressive, especially when enhanced with a squeeze of lemon. The tanginess of the lemon brought out the rich flavors of the meat, creating a perfect balance. I was expecting butter on top of the schnitzels, but it turned out there was none. However, this did not detract from the taste, which was still exceptional. One thing to note is that we had to wait almost an hour to be seated. While initially a bit frustrating, the wait turned out to be absolutely worth it. The ambience of the restaurant, combined with the quality of the food, made for a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Figlmüller Bäckerstraße to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious schnitzel in Vienna.

The check-in experience was the worse part. We have a reservation but showed up early. The guy checking us in made one too many facial expressions and said one too many times "sir you're more than an hour early"... Trust me I know. I told him I could wait. He didn't seem to care. They were accommodating walk-ins at the time. We had a 6:30 pm reservation but walked in a little past 5. Fortunately one of the waiters in the back told us to follow him and sat us. Food took a long time to come out though. We didn't get our food until well past our original reservation of 6:30 pm. I've been here many years ago and everything was as I had remembered it. Delicious.

If you don't want to wait in line, I recommend you make a reservation in advance. There are two places close to each other. We ordered beef schnitzel and potato salad, it tasted very good, but potato salad is our favorite, we ordered it again. The design and environment of the restaurant is also very pleasant. Prices may seem high, but I ignore this in traditional restaurants.

With two Michelin stars, Steirereck is known for its modern approach to traditional Austrian dishes using fresh, local ingredients. The menu showcases diverse options and the skillful chef creates exquisite meals that reimagine Austrian cuisine in a contemporary way.
An exceptional experience - really special. Endless, amazing food and drinks (we did the set menu with a drink per course). I tried lots of stuff I’ve never tried before and likely never will again. The staff were lovely and the building is really cool.

Having such high expectations based of the long standing accolades and awards for this establishment I am disappointed and frustrated to have to write such a negative review. I have been to many Michelin restaurants and I have never left so underwhelmed. This would be my least favorite Michelin restaurant and chef’s menu, to date. 1) The total dining experience was over 4 hours. While I am in no rush, I found no desire to stay as long as we were there. Had there been dishes or an experience that peaked my interest I’d be happy to stay this long. We did not have the first course till after an hour and fifteen. The courses were spaced anywhere from 20-40 minutes apart after last bite of previous course. We were utterly bored. 1A) While service wasn’t bad, the attentiveness was not there. At Michelin caliber restaurants I expect the table to be immaculate and cleaned after each meal, this never occurred. This is picky, but it’s what to be expected at this level of restaurant. 2) The food was flat, nothing stood out to me and while it had many ingredients that I was excited to try together I did not find any complexity to the dishes. There have been Michelin restaurants where I remember specific dishes, there was unfortunately not one tonight. I found the plating and presentation of the food repetitive, it was the same presentation for each dish, the server would spoon out of a measuring cup for each dish (this is picky, but part of these dining experiences is the art of presentation and it felt lazy) 3) The wine pairings, while not bad, were very similar. I expect exciting different elements to compliment the dishes, did not feel it was adequate. I am sorry to have to write this review and I am hopeful that this was an off night or week (although a restaurant of this caliber and rating should not have this).

When returning to a much loved fine dining restaurant after several years, there’s always that nagging concern that it won’t be quite as wonderful as you remembered. On this occasion my worries were unfounded as this was perhaps even greater an experience than I had hoped for. I’d forgotten to mention in advance my wife’s new and quite extensive list of food intolerances and the staff dealt with this without batting an eyelid. The 5-course lunch menu was amazing, we were visited by the famous Steirereck trolleys (bread and cheese), which produce a Pavlovian response from my salivary glands and the wine pairing was excellent too. This restaurant has been top 25 in the world for several years now and it thoroughly deserves that recognition.

One-in-a-lifetime, amazing experience! Food presentation was thoughtful and beautiful, artistic--filled with vibrant color and texture. Flavors were presented in ways that brought out the freshness and best in each ingredient. Each course came with a card explaining the dish and some background information and introduced ingredients I loved learning about. The restaurant was cleverly designed so that each table felt private. The service was flawless. Each phase of dining and the various preferences of our party's four diners were seamless. The wait staff was observant and predictive but also pleasantly conversational. They flowed easily from English to German-speaking as they interacted with each member of our international party. They were always present when something needed to be done but never looming. One member of our party briefly excused himself just before a course arrived. The waitstaff very subtly slid a warmer under his dish and then removed it upon his return. One member of our party preferred not to order alcohol. Over the course of the dinner, the wait staff observed this (without it ever being directly discussed) and brought a unique alcohol-free dessert. From the bread trolley to the cheese trolley to the end-of-dinner Schnapps cart, I will cherish this Viennese dining experience forever.

2 star restaurant on the Michelin guide. We went for lunch and it was fantastic. The service was very good and I loved that the bread was fresh on a moving cart and so were the drinks and cheese. A classy getaway if you’re looking for a rather pricey dinner or lunch out. However, the price is matched by its elegance, service, food and atmosphere.

Had one of the best dining experiences of my life at Steirereck today that I felt compelled to leave a review. I did the 4 course lunch tasting. From the moment I sat down, the hospitality was palpable. Every dish I ordered was superb and the perfect amount of food for me to enjoy every single course until dessert. The Roebuck (main course) was a highlight, with the Young Celeriac (starter) a close second.

The second time was quite a wonderful experience! My husband reunited with "bread cart Andy" and the kitchen turned out marvel after marvel of creative, stunning, masterpieces of flavor and flair.

No ideal why the photo 2 and 3 can be called such as iconic or signature dish. 6 course menu for lunch is 205 euro and I ordered one white truffle pasta and two glass champagne. The total is 319+24 euro

We had a good time at the restaurant. The food was really good as expected. You must try the sausage bread! The members of staff were highly trained and clinically efficient. The only time our female server smiled was when we were getting into the taxi they had ordered for us. I really liked that you got little table cards with every meal describing what you are eating. That was really appreciated!

Beautiful experience, pleasant ambience. Dishes were distinctive, and refined but carried an unpretentious presentation and familiar palate. Thoroughly entertaining bread and cheese cart with an overwhelming selection. April 2022

I had high expectations for this 2 star Michelin restaurant but it was disappointing. The outside and location inside the park probably contributed to the extra star. It is nice inside but the table we had was awkward with and view of the serving carts and had a hanging bulb since the overhead light was broken. Shocked to see the service done with rolling carts. The wine server was rushing from table to table placing down bottles, quickly rambling the type of wine and taste pairings then running off. He would come back and pick up the bottles two minutes later. Service was not close to two star quality. The 6 courses were good but nothing impressive or unique. This is a one star restaurant in a two star location.

I came to Austria to experience the 13th restaurant in the world. I booked eight people for lunch. When I arrived, I was told that I couldn’t order a lunch set, so the whole lunch didn’t end until 3:30 pm. The overall creativity of dishes and sauces is satisfactory.

Mediocre at best. I was really looking forward to this meal, since I had heard great things of this beautiful 2-star establishment, however the evening was everything but a Michelin starred experience. Plenty of mistakes troughout the evning, from start to finish. No one to take our coats, waiters unfriendly and cold, explanation of dishes were told without passion or interest, food was good, but nothing that really knocked me out of my socks (something that you COULD expect when paying €200+ in a 2-star), and a surcharge of 150 euros on the bill (which they corrected but only because we noticed); overall the whole experience lacked a lot of finesse. Its a pitty because the restaurant is so beautiful and leaves a lot to wish for. On a positive note, the wine pairing was very interesting and worked very well with the dishes.

I would like to share some of our experience rather than trying to describe to food in detail. Three things come to mind: 1. Steirereck is only going upwards. It has wonderful ambience, excellent food, perfect staff - in fact, from the moment you enter, you feel spoilt and the feeling is luxurious. It feels much more like three stars than two. 2. The food is exceptional without being pretentious. The wine pairing is on point. 3.Behold the bread trolley!! Michelin acknowledges the bread trolly and it is one of the highlights of the evening. The gentleman serving the bread is entertaining and knowledgeable while the trolley is loaded with different kinds of bread. Easy to indulge here as the bread is delicious, the choice is wide and he keeps coming around!!! It is a real treat. However, the cheese trolley is not be outdone. It is of similar high standard and is stocked with different cheeses from side tot side and top to bottom - and is again followed shortly by the bread trolley just wanting to make sure that you are fine. In my view Steirereck is well worth making a special trip for. It was one of our highlights of the year. Grab a table if you can. It is highly recommendable.

This is the best 2 stars restaurant I have tried so far. Services was wonderful, but food was completely exceptional. Bread was great too. We loved the blood bread so much even if it was our first try. Nothing to complain here. Only complements.

The 7-Course menu was a wonderful experience. The cheese, bread, and wine sommeliers were outstanding and exceptionally knowledgeable about their fields. It is truly one of the best dinners I have ever had the honor of experiencing.

The food is amazing and the service is also great! The seafood's freshness was expected, but what was surprising was the delicate preparation of the vegetables, which fully brought out their sweetness. Tried venison for the first time, and it was delicious.

An exceptional and sophisticated gastronomic experience that maintains its top quality! After my first visit to the restaurant in 2018, I was curious to see how I would experience the same restaurant after more than 5 years. The result was still outstanding! The focus on local ingredients, excellent and detailed introduction and both written and oral explanation of each dish (which makes this restaurant special), unobtrusive and excessively courteous service. A lavish selection of over 40 locally produced types of bread along with an even larger selection of cheeses from across Europe make this gastronomic rhapsody even more effective! A big bravo for the tasting experience!

Without a doubt it’s a good restaurant but not a five star one. We picked 5 course selection. The bread trolley was a delicacy in itself. The restaurant is quite reasonable in terms of the artistry, variety of ingredients, presentation and service. However the food was not what I expected with a 2 star rating from Michelin.
Dasha Tera — Google review
We had the 6 course menu. The food was okay and thought through in terms of ingredients mostly, but nothing amazed me. I would expect a 2-Michelin star place that I pay EUR300 pp to make me thinking “incredible, how did they do this?”. This place was decent but nothing very exciting in my view. The service was slow. We were 6 in total, and we hadn’t even got the amuse bouche 1 hour and 10 minutes after we all sat down. The breaks between courses were also a bit long. Cheese and bread trolleys were very nice but again it takes time until they come to serve your table. In terms of ambience, it was a bit stiff but the decoration and lighting was nice. Overall my expectations were high because of how this restaurant has been placed and given the money we paid but the food and service could have been for sure more impressive. Perhaps getting a la carte may be a better choice.

Situated in the charming Burggarten, near prominent landmarks such as the National Library and Hofburg Imperial Palace, Brasserie Palmenhaus Wien is a former tropical house that provides remarkable dining and drinking options. This upscale restaurant offers a diverse menu of traditional cuisine, including brunch-style dishes filled with sandwiches, cereals, and fruits. It overlooks a spacious pond, creating an idyllic atmosphere for guests to enjoy their meals.
Great little brasserie in the heart of the city. Great art Deco Design and fixtures. The service was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, and not overly attentive. The food selection is small, but well prepared and tasty. The wine selection is generous, and mostly features Austrian wines. The drink menu is extensive and well suited to any occasion. For dessert, ditch the menu and check out the pastry cakes for delicious tortes. Overall, it may be a bit touristy given it's location... And I suspect it packs during the warmer seasons (visited in November late dinner time). Regardless, I'll be going back

We came without reservation; a fast moving line which was our luck! This is located next to the butterfly house. The ambience was inviting, like a greenhouse, so sunny and warm on a cold winter day. The menu is different from other cafes here, so we wanted to try their best dishes. We ordered the lamb sausage 4/5: good but not so special. Love the sides with it. Mushroom truffle risotto 2/5: the expectation was high and the dish was a bit of disappointment. The rice had a bite (undercooked) and the flavors were almost bland. Dry aged burger 5/5: one of the best burgers we tried ever, the meat was cooked medium to perfection, melt in your mouth like butter. So juicy and flavorful; Totally recommend it. For drinks house wine and wine spritzer 5/5: the wine taste was really delicate and enjoyable. Overall, i would like to visit again to try other dishes and enjoy the place more. I would recommend the burger and wines as well.

I had a wonderful dining experience at a charming restaurant in a picturesque setting. We opted for the daily special, and the flavors were absolutely delightful. Lovely ambience, and they reserve the best spots for reservations. Great spot to people watch as they’re are always people in the park. I recommend going later in the afternoon when the sun in behind the buildings as they remove the umbrellas and you get to truly enjoy it. Their truffle butter is incredible and the dishes are well portioned. I had the veal ravioli and it was gorgeous and delicious.

Beautiful location, with high palms and trees, much light enjoyable thanks to the wonderful structure of the building. For the outdoor tables you don't need a reservation, you can sit down where is free and enjoy the stunning relaxing view of the park of the Hofburg. Of course, not a cheap location, but it's totally understandable.

It's a hidden gem. This location was not easy to discover, but it was well worth the effort. The environment is similar to that of a greenhouse, and in addition, they have really comfortable sitting available outside. Both the food and the service were of the highest quality.

One of my favorite spots in Vienna. Food is super fresh and always loaded with veggies. We had the artichoke soup, eggplant parmigiana, and the duck breast. All of them were absolutely delicious, although I would go noch down with the cumin in the eggplant. Atmosphere is always nice given that the place has so much light and plants in it. Service super attentive and polite.

Very nice place to sit, have a drink and do some reading or computer admin, as you have plugs to use for electricity. Food is very expensive though. Too expensive in my opinion. Did i tell how nice the place is though? Sitting in a giant greenhouse with palm trees and tropical plants... Nice. 🌴 Toilet is not wheelchair accessible though.

Not speaking the language I was a little nervous about my first meal in Vienna. Upon arrival I was asked what language I wanted to converse in and they promptly got me the right server for the job. The atmosphere was fantastic, busy but didn't feel overcrowded. I had breakfast with dessert (of course) and a latte. Definitely recommend!

Prominently located in Burghof, this historic restaurant is heavily visited and one should either make a reservation well in advance or be prepared to wait in a queue which could get quite chaotic. The food is amazing and the staff do their best, but the crowdedness of the interior was a little off-putting to us.

Came once back in 2017 during the summer and had to come back because the setting is just so cool! It's still as great as I remember. Very rare that you go somewhere that looks touristy but also has great food. Staff are very friendly and there's plenty of seating so you don't have to wait long for a seat. Hot chocolate here is better than cafe mozart.

Definitely WAY WAY overpriced, food was OK but I definitely could have gotten better schnitzel for a third of the price anywhere else. It kind of tasted like the made it a while ago and it wasn’t like fresh out of the fryer or anything, and the breading was separating from the meat. Potatoes were bland, according to my friend but tasted fine to me but nothing special. The cranberry sauce was fantastic though, not too sweet. The cake was delicious too, not too sweet at all. And it’s a nice ambience & service was friendly. There was about a 20-30 min line when I arrived as it’s super popular with tourists. I definitely wouldn’t come here again because I think I can get better value at any other local restaurant but if you have the money to spend & time to kill then why not. Expect to spend a minimum of $50 per person…

Greenhouse vibe with a butterfly house next to it. The place itself worths to pay a visit! Specially if you can sit next to the glass to get the butterflies view. We had a look to the menu and found it a little bit overpriced but of course, you’re paying for the place. Still, be aware that we didn’t order food but just a strudel and a coffee. I highly recommend it for the strudel: it looked and tasted way better than others we tried. The coffee was highly overpriced tho. Same price for the strudel and the coffee…

Really beautiful place for breakfast! Staff is really nice and the atmosphere inside is amazing, especially when your table is located by the window. Remember to make a reservation because at around 10am there is a loong queue outside! One drawback- “Vegen” breakfast contains actually just a few chopped vegetables, in my opinion a little bit overpriced, but my “Large” breakfast was lovely. I would recommend☺️☺️

The Schweizerhaus is a 19th-century rustic beer garden and restaurant with origins in Vienna that also offers Viennese dishes. The venue can seat hundreds of people and features typical Austrian fare such as pork knuckle.
Schweizerhaus is an institution in Vienna! The service is great, the beer is cold and the food is heavenly. You really shouldn't miss out on this restaurant. It has a typical beer garden theme with the different sections of the outdoor seating broken up into the many neighbourhoods that make up Vienna.

Big and busy but well organized Beer garden with traditional specialties Austrian dishes such as delicious crispy roasted pork knuckle with sauerkraut and pancakes for dessert. Grilled chicken was not their specialties so it wasn’t good enough comparing to pork knuckle. Another highlight is beer with wide range of craft beers. I drank dark beer and it was cold and tasty. Btw they have private areas for big groups

Traditional and tasty food, very fast service. I recommend the "Hintere schweinsstelze" which is more than 1 kg of pork shank, freshly grilled and crispy on the outside. Also get a glass of tap beer and enjoy!

Our second time here after 4 years. The pork shank was huge, it's definitely for two persons... Not to mention it was delicious, the meat was cooked to perfection, very tender. The beer 🍻 was great, as you would expect from an Austrian beer garden. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, food and beers came quick, despite these place being packed. We had a great dinner here, will be back when in Vienna again.

I visited Vienna's famous ferris wheel on my first night visiting and found this restaurant walking around Prater after. Our server was friendly and recommended a local beer from Vienna (pictured). It was amazing. I ordered pork on a skewer, which came with bacon. Wow! Very tender and delicious. My friend ordered the traditional weiner schnitzel and it was superb (I tried it). The place is very large but has a good ambiance. They also brought me a menu in English when I asked for it. Great place!

The only place you'll get fresher tasting beer is the brewery itself. Since beer is constantly served and the taps are never turned off, the beer is very satisfying. Most plates during busy hours are already made, ready to go as it's delivered about 5 minutes after ordering, but is really good and not overly salty like you'll find in a lot places.

The food here is really good and served quickly. Ordering takes a while, and you need to order your drinks with one person and your food with someone else. Strange, but it is the way it is. The atmosphere is very loud and festive, which is probably because the restaurant is in a theme park. I would definitely recommend a visit though as the whole experience is generally very good.

a sizable, traditional Austrian restaurant in the Prater, at a great location. The restaurant's specialty, pork knuckle, is wonderful. It's worth sharing between two or three people, in my opinion, as it's too much for one person. The beer they have on tap there is most likely the best I've drank in Vienna thus far. I can only suggest this eatery!

A bit over priced but that's to be expected I think in the middle of prater. Traditional Austrian food which is very nice, we had fried cheese with potato rosti. Rosti was so garlic it made the eyes water. Schnitzel was apparently really good served with potato salad. It was very busy but service was reasonably fast.

The place of the giant beer head. This is a great biergarten is the middle of what seems like a amusement park. Was a bit confusing walking through the park looking for the place but place was good. I recently dined at Schweizerhaus Restaurant while visiting Vienna. It’s a charming Austrian restaurant and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The portion sizes they serve is good for two or three people. You certainly won't leave this place hungry. The pork knuckle was so tender and juicy. It's such a substantial dish that I would highly recommend sharing it between two or three people; it's honestly more than one person can handle, but it's definitely worth indulging in with friends or family. The beer really complemented the hearty Austrian cuisine. Schweizerhaus Restaurant is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking authentic Austrian food in Vienna. I give it 5 stars.

Too busy for its own good. The food was average, but not anything spectacular. There are better places in Prater to get similar fare with better service and better atmosphere. We had a reservation made 3 months in advance and were seated in the furthest back corner of an upstairs room when there was space in the garden.

Best Pork Knuckles in Vienna! The portion size is huge, we shared it amongst 4 people. This is also the perfect place for beer lovers. If you are looking for authentic austrian food, look no further than Schweizerhaus! As this place is often full of people, it’s best to make an online reservation in advanced. It is also right at the Prater park which could be done as a combined activity for the day.

I give 3 stars to the atmosphere. Although it was a nice green environment, the place were over crowd and there were cigarette smoke everywhere.
