Museum De Reede

Mentioned on
Museum
Art museum
The Museum de Reede is a graphic art museum displaying work by Goya, Munch, Rops & other masters. The museum has prints, etchings, wood prints, engravings and drawings from the 17th to 21st centuries and mainly focuses on portraying the human figure as its subject. The stuff here is really pleasant and helpful to customers, which makes the experience even better when they explain some of the paintings. I definitely recommend going here!
I spent a wonderful morning in this museum. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the place itself is quite small, but it has a good collection, with Munch, Goya and Rops (so don't expect rainbows and unicorns, these are quite dark and gloomy drawings). I got the fantastic chance to see the Leon Spilliaert exhibition, which was mind blowing (actually, the main reason I visited). Many exhibits were from private collections, so this was a unique chance to see them!
Florin O — Google review
Small collection on display but the collection is magnificent. If you like etchings and engravings this is the best museum in Antwerp. The museum is quite inconspicuous, which is kind of a waste. Artworks from famous artist such as Munch, Dürer and Goya were on display when I visited.
Lisanne Peters — Google review
The temporary exhibit of Rembrandt is fascinating: to represent the self-portraits of his etchings as his selfies and as his preoccupation with the study of self. It is beyond my expectations and I purchased the exhibit catalogue. Felicien Rops’ late works are also very interesting.
Song — Google review
This is a small museum, easily accessible, dedicated to the graphic work of three artists Edvard Munch, Francisco Goya and Felicien Rops. The mostly monochromatic art pieces in its permanent collection are very interesting, with a couple of highlights such as Munch’s Scream. On the second floor you can see the temporary collection, which was dedicated to Jules de Bruycker’s work when I visited. If you’re like me interested in the less flashy art of engravings, lithographs, etc. give it a good hour from your visit in Antwerp.
Nikos Parastatidis — Google review
Munch expo with the scream lytho is very impressive. Thank you wonderful lady who gave us such a great story about the artist' life. Again when admiring the Flemish works i was guided through in the right order. Such great hospitality.
Wouter Blok — Google review
Great temporary exhibition of Jules due Bruycker. The permanent exhibitions of Goya, Munch. Worth a visit. If you have interest in drawings, etchings and lithography it is a MUST!
Agnieszka Kolek — Google review
The Rembrandt exhibition is really well executed! The pieces are fascinating and show Rembrandt as a "photographer" who depicts the exact moment in his drawings like a photograph. The rest of the exhibition is also very interesting and well chosen.
Rebecca Reinhard — Google review
Nice drawings of Goya, munch and temporary exposition. The magnifying glass is a nice touch allowing to see some of the amazing details these artists added.
Francis Martens — Google review
The entrance cost was 8 euros (adult). It is a great museum with beautiful collection of litographs and prints. The diamonds are works of Edvard Munch and Francisco Goya. I've seen their graphic for the first time and was really shocked and impressed with the strong emotions that artist was able to create without colours. The museum itself is nice and convenient, the staff is nice and helpful. During my visit there where no other people, so it was quite. Museum is rather small, so one hour was enough for me to see all the works here.
Yury Ramanousky — Google review
Absolutely worth the visit. Small collection, a visit should only take about one hour. The Rembrandt exhibition of etchings was impressive. We enjoyed this little museum more than the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten the next day.
Dirk PV — Google review
Very interesting museum. Graphic works.
Mark North — Google review
The permanent collection is great and there's always a worth visiting temporary one
Nieves Blasco — Google review
My favorite museum in Antwerp with collection including Munch, Goya, Rops ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Catherine Corriveau — Google review
Very well put together permanent exhibition of Goya, Rops, Munch graphic art. Excellent temporary exhibition contrasting Rops with a contemporary artist / newspaper cartoonist Karl Meersman. This was very well done (and many of Meersman's pieces were excellent).

Stuff is really pleasant and helpful to customers and my experience here got even better when they started explaining some of the paintings, they explain it really well. I recommend to go here!

Plantin-Moretus Museum

Mentioned on

History Museums
The Plantin-Moretus Museum is a museum housing the world's oldest printing presses and books as well as antiques, tapestries, and art. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Antwerp. The collection of rare books and manuscripts, as well as the world's oldest printing presses are just some of the reasons why this museum should not be missed by anyone visiting Antwerp.
One of my favorites museum in Antwerpen, one of the ones I really wanted to go and even better I've been there. The mood inside the museum is insane, the colours and the lights are really well placed. The garden in the middle of the museum is amazing as well. The workers are super kind and funny, helped me a lot because I was going in the wrong direction of the exhibition ahah I really recommend to go there.
Tiago Martins — Google review
I almost walked past this place without noticing it all, but there were some cool woodcut images on the Building which piqued my interest so I had to go inside. There was no queue, the staff were really helpful and spoke perfect English, it was a mind opening experience and so so beautiful inside that I would highly recommend everyone going pst should pop in! It’s worth the money as you get some free prints and a free audio guide.
Cain Kill — Google review
Beautiful historical house in the centre of Antwerp with important historical connections to the printing industry of the day. All very interesting and informative.
Ivy Mac — Google review
This museum is incredibly beautiful. It is located in a 16th-century mansion and features astonishing interiors, furniture, tapestries, and paintings. The spirit of previous generations is palpable throughout the building - you can smell it, feel it, and even hear it. I strongly recommend spending a couple of hours there.
Irina Gushchina — Google review
A very rare gem of a museum. A must see, even a site of pilgrimage for graphic designers, as this is the birthplace of mass produced books and maps. See the Garamond fonts in their original state and marvel at some lesser known paintings by Rubens. I visited on a Saturday. It can get quite crowded.
Nikos Parastatidis — Google review
I could not imagine that a printer's legacy could be so impressive. It is thanks to Mr Platin that knowledge was able to spread worldwide in the 16th century. The museum succeeds in presenting the achievements of this epoch in a very interesting way and accompanying them with the explanations of the audio guide. In my opinion the most interesting museum in the city.
Manfred Beham — Google review
Truly interesting museum, not crowded, with free audio guide and very helpful staff. There is worth every single penny of its ticket fee. It is informative and with amazing exhibits
?????? ???? — Google review
A nice 1 and 1/2 hour in a brilliant museum. First I thought there would be some old printing machines to see. I was wrong. The building is fascinating and I learnt a lot about the history of books
Hans Lind — Google review
€8 student discount, 1:25h visit. The museum is well organized, with an audioguide that gives plenty of details (except in one of the first rooms, when it describes the different paintings, the order is pretty mixed up - you need to constantly pause it to figure out which one it's talking about). If you are interested in printing and old books you might enjoy it, I found that it isn't my kind of museum.
serena ney — Google review
AMAZING museum! Multifaceted but not overwhelming, this museum is about the history of the printing press, of book publishing and books in general, Antwerp history, and also the lives of a few very ambitious businesspeople that made this building into what it is. Add to that quite the collection of paintings by Rubens, a stunning flower garden, a beautifully kept building and a great audiotour to be guided among all the information available. Other highlights: two really old libraries and many many botanical books, atlases, prints... All displayed really well for you to enjoy. Don't miss the illuminated manuscripts they kept for inspiration... Book lovers, business people, plant lovers, art lovers and of course history lovers will have a great time here. There's even someone present to workshop the printing press and many interactive moments for kids. Would recommend 10+ though.
Anouschka van Wettum — Google review
This was a truly inspiring museum. The building itself is wonderful. Some 400 yrs old and given to the city of Antwerp by the family, with all the printing equipment, furniture, and artworks. It traces the story of the first large-scale printing house in Europe. Started around 1552. Their contribution to the progress of knowledge and education in society was significant. They published Bibles, prayer books, civil documents, humanist philosophy, scientific works, school books, propaganda, and even the very first atlas. I loved it.
Michelle Chadwick — Google review
The museum is fantastic. Even if you think it might be boring to get to know more about the history of printing, it is absolutely not. The technical details, the books in different languages, the maps, the designs of the letters (like 3D versions of MS Word formats) and the life of the business family in their beautiful home. One can easily spend 2-3 hours there. The museum staff was also very kind.

Hampton by Hilton Antwerp Central Station is a budget-friendly hotel with a gym and free breakfast, as well asviews of the city's railway station.
Brilliant location next to station and its taxi rank, with loads of bars and restaurants nearby. Just a mile's pleasant stroll into old city. Staff very welcoming, hotel very clean and presentable, rolling breakfasts delicious as are 24/7 pizzas Really hope to return
Mark Chils — Google review
The room wasn't anything special. It was just another hotel room. It was, however, well taken care of. All personnel was professional and really kind. They anticipated on our needs. I'm extremely positive about the service that was offered. The location is top-notch, right outside Central train station, so there is an abundance of public transport to choose from. The hotel borders on the high street, so you can check-in, leave your luggage behind and literally start shopping within 5 minutes (if that's what you're in to) The zoo is also in walking distance as it is literally around the corner from central station. Maybe about 50m from the entrance of the hotel. I will definitely return to this hotel, mostly because of the convenience of it all. (Photo explanation: I had a room at the front of the hotel and this was my view. Just to illustrate how close the station is to the hotel)

I stayed here with family and very much enjoyed it! The staff was extremely friendly and helped with every extra request & question we had. The room was spatious and the entire property is clean. The breakfast had enough variability (although my son missed the fried eggs – they only had scrambled eggs). We very much appreciated the small gym. Greetings from Hungary (Budapest) ;-)
Anna Vargáné Kis — Google review
To start off, the location of this hotel is amazing for a nights trip from Brussels or Brugge. It is right across from the train station so it is easily accessible. The lobby is nice and clean, the gym is small but decent and the breakfast is adequate. That is where my praise ends. When I first entered the room there was a strange smell which I suspect came from the stained carpet. There is construction currently going on right next to the hotel which is very loud and makes it impossible to sleep in. But my main problem was the bathroom/shower. Both the body soap and conditioner were missing there plugs. This allows for moisture and humidity to constantly be circulating through the containers which is unsafe. On top of that, the lids could easily be removed and when I did I noticed there was bits of conditioner(?) in the soap and a disgusting blue gunk growing on the soap containers (I have attached pictures). This is extremely unsanitary and unsafe. On top of that, the shower water did not maintain a steady temperature. It went from warm to burning hot to warm to burning hot. I was consistently screaming as I got burned by the water. I ended up showering at a friends place as both the water temperature and soap made me uncomfortable showering at the hotel. This was very disappointing and ruined my experience. I would recommend looking at other options near the train station before booking this place but the location is prime.

Stayed one night and was pleasantly surprised. Location couldn’t be beat. The hotel is right at the train station. Close to all main attractions, shopping district and dining. Very friendly and professional service. Rooms were spacious for Europe. Breakfast was a full buffet. I can’t say enough about our stay and highly recommend.
Connie Rowden — Google review
Very comfortable room, clean, good in-room amenities. We were at this hotel over a weekend and it seemed completely booked but we certainly couldn't tell while we were in our room. Hardly any noise filtered into our room from the street (we faced Central Station) or the construction going on and if people allowed their doors to slam (which normally happens in hotels) we didn't hear it. The rooms were so well insulated. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our last day in Antwerpen we wanted to stay and walk around the city later than the checkout and front desk staff stored our luggage for us. When I came back to collect there was a long wait in the lobby, people checking in, and the person who checked my luggage saw me, finished what he was doing at the moment and motioned me to follow him. He said he didn't want me to miss my train. So nice and thoughtful. I wish I would have gotten his name to call him out. The buffet breakfast was very crowded, that is how we knew the hotel was booked up, but still good and plenty of food. One of the coffee machines was out of order when we were there so long line for the coffee...but no big deal. Location was good, across from the Central Station, and about a mile from the town square but we enjoyed the walking so no issue for us. Would definitely go back.

We stayed there for 14 nights and everything was perfect! Location is great right in front of central station, room was clean , breakfast was pretty good and the hotel staff was very friendly and attentive! And special thanks to the receptionists Rachid and Noimi who helped us through out our stay with their suggestions and were very kind. Will definitely stay here if we visit Antwerp again!

We rarely give a 5* rating, but this hotel deserves it. We stayed there for one night in mid-July for fair price. The staff at the reception was outstanding, friendly, well-spoken and very helpful. We were also delighted with the size and cleanliness of the room, the comfortable matresses and the layout of the sections. the room was quiet despite its front pointing towards the railway station. The breakfast was included, the selection was sufficient and the staff there very friendly and fast. We would always return there.

Hampton by Hilton was the perfect hotel for our stay. It is located directly across the street from the Antwerp train station. Taxis and bikes for rent are steps away from the front door of the hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was clean, good sized, and well stocked. Great experience.

Great value for money overall! Pros: Very good location. We arrived from the train station and the hotel is 2 minutes from the train station and the metro station . Well sized rooms. Well lit and with good air conditioning. Comfortable and clean beds. Really great value for money. Amazing staff, very helpful and very knowledgeable! Thanks for an amazing time. Cons: The bathrooms were clean and hygienic but the shower area could have been cleaned better. Also the breakfast was okay. It can also be improved vastly. I would prefer to have breakfast outside the hotel next time

I love this place. The views are amazing in the lobby and also in some of the rooms. It's conveniently located for touring Antwerp, and a quick walk from the station. The staff are amazing and helpful. They speak fluent English. They go above and beyond to make your stay better. The breakfast spread is great, very filling. You can even grab a piece of fruit for later. The beds are fine, not amazing. The rooms themselves are great, plenty of space, big windows. I would love to stay here again. This was my view!

Great hotel. When visiting Antwerp, I recommend staying here, it is located across the street from the central train station. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the room is cleaned every day. Breakfast included, buffet, there is everything you need for breakfast for every taste, very tasty. Friendly staff. If there is an opportunity to still visit this wonderful city, I will definitely stop here. Within walking distance from the center and all sights of the city.

Excellent experience! Rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast that was included was excellent, a far higher calibre than most inclusive breakfasts I've experienced at other hotels. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
Elizabeth B — Google review
We stayed four nights, arriving very early morning from North America by flights to Brussels and then by train to Antwerp. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff were very professional and luckily our room was already available. We enjoyed very much the location of the hotel, the professional attitude of the staff, and the morning buffet with healthy options (eggs, cold and warm vegetables, etc.). The training room was good too. The only minor comment is the hot water stability, it fluctuates back and forth between too warm and just right. Room was clean, bed was great. When we left we were allowed also an extra hour for late checkout and could work in the hall with coffee available. Overall we are really happy about our stay and would go back if visiting Antwerp again.
Isabelle Laforest-Lapointe — Google review
The rooms (we were on 7th floor) were nice. Its a bit unfortunate that the parking is like 3min by foot away and that the reception is on the first floor. Made our arrival and departure a bit bumpy. Parking costs with 16 euro/night are great. Also super accessable by train as it is right at the train station. The breakfast however is terrible. They should really send someone to look after the food (the veggies were old and nothing was really cooled or had silverware to serve it... so people destroyed the buffet). It looked disgusting at 9.00am. For a hotel of this category, I expected a decent continental breakfast. Also the presentation of the food as such was sad. We ended up having breakfast in the city.
Stella — Google review
If you can catching Thalys or any other trains, no other hotels beat this hotel’s location. The breakfast was served two charming Asian staff members and that made a great start of the day. The bathroom door was not working well, so I had to take one star off. But clean and cozy. The surrounding area is not as safe and clean as the hotel itself. Be extra careful with taxi drivers waiting between the hotel and the station. They refuse to receive online payments and give you a receipt or try to race with other cars. If you don’t have big bags, go elsewhere to catch a cab.
Nao I — Google review
Hotel very close to central station. We came by car so not very convenient to park in garage 300m in an alley in the rain. Room was nice and quiet and breakfast was well organised with good staff despite it being very busy. Not the same can be said for the reception desk though. When checking in no eye contact, hello/good evening and crew just staring at the monitors instead of helping customers check in. Then a rude group just barged in front of line, without personell knowing they just helped them. Check out just as terrible. No goodmorning or goodbye again. When asking how to receive the hotel parking discount as advertised, the reception was clueless: Interparking Vesting recognized my car numberplate as i'm member of their chain, so I could enter without a ticket and fully charging me for 24 hours.

Perfect one night stop over across the road from Antwerp Centraal station. Appears the hotel is virtually brand new... it is absolutely lovely Huge comfortably family room with 2 huge beds. Kitchenette and dining table. Large bathroom Full bar and restaurant (which we didn't use, but looked great!)

Was great location for our need. Clean and excellent friendly staff. Breakfast was just great and fulled us for the day. Very happy with our choice to stay at the hampton by hilton. I asked for 3 extra pillows when i went to Breakfast by the time i got back to my room my pillows were there. 6 stars
Carolann Rutter — Google review
The hotel is directly across the street from the central rail station, so very convenient if you’re arriving by train. There are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby, as well as groceries. If you’re arriving by car, parking is down the street and around the corner, about a 5-10 minute walk. I was upgraded to a huge room with a kitchenette and dining table, as well as plenty of windows. The room overlooked the train station - good for the views, bad for the noise. There was lots of traffic noise during the day but it died down later in the evening.
Chris S — Google review
Great location. Nice breakfast, variations in food. You also have the ability to make your own waffle :). The staff was pleasant and easy to talk to. Overall price/quality its good.
Imperial (Imperial) — Google review
It's okay. The location is convenient for guests arriving by train, tram or bus. If you come by car, you should add 30 minutes on top of your satnav ETA. The hotel has no parking facility. Rooms are okay, however during our stay some items were missing and or dirty. Also HH benefits items were not in the room. We where offered to switch rooms but as we already where settled we refused. Breakfast is okay, the restaurant is spacious and there are plenty of tables available. The receptionist (Rachid) at check-in clearly did everything to make us feel welcomed and valued as a diamond member. The staff at checkout had a completely different attitude. Despite Rachid's best efforts i am not sure if I will use this particular hotel for future stays

Elfde Gebod is an interesting restaurant that is right next to Antwerp Cathedral. The restaurant has religious icons all around it and the food here is great.
Awesome food and setting - great experience and want to come back. The fries were too saturated with oil and had no salt but mussels and deer meat were nice. The house honey beer could be improved. The deserts were excellent and we can highly recommend. 👍🏻

Inviting and interesting atmosphere. Lots of old statues and religious memorabilia all around. Live music and great bartenders in a really nice location. Excellent beer! Highly recommended.

Warm, cozy and the meat stew smelled so good walking in. Religious theme, full of statues and check out the paintings that replicate the menu. Multiple seating areas down and upstairs and an outside terrace. Had the baked chicken with root vegetables and curry sauce, very good! Friend enjoyed the fish stew. Great service.

The service level in this restaurant is impeccable. They really make an effort to meet the customer needs and if they can’t they explain to you why and try to make up for it. Would totally recommend and definitely come back. The food is amazing too!! Best tomato soup & fish stew I’ve ever had.

Very peculiar place, it’s full of religious figures and statues. Nice place. Food is brasserie type. There is music in the evening but we didn’t have time to stay. Service is top and they ask to tip from 10 to 25% tip at the payment which I think is worthy.

This place has a singular aesthetic and is well located. While we found the stew to be filling and nice, we believe the croquettes are a bit pricy give the number of units, 2. Beers were great and service attentive. Maybe good to make a reservation before you go just to be sure they have a table. I also saw they have live music sometimes

Really nice and unique setting! There are only a few really interesting options on the menu in my opinion, but they are well worth it. I noticed they suggest certain % tipping on the bill, like mentioned in other reviews, but it is just a suggestion and is not enforced on the card payment machine. The staff was very polite, would recommend!

A delicious stop hidden behind the cathedral in the center of Antwerp. There is much more to discover for curious eyes inside the venue. Create an opportunity and go upstairs. Food and beer varieties are satisfactory. Prices are reasonable, although not cheap. We tried rabbit stew and mussels with cream sauce accompanied by La Trappe beers. It is a must-visit on a touristic trip.

When visiting Belgium, you should dine there as well and what I like the most are the delicious stews. At this place you get a three course menu for only €30,- which is a bargain if you see what you get! The staff is very friendly, in for a small talk and serve quickly. We got the soup of the day which is a pumpkin soup, and what a big bowl! Bread included with some herbs spread. The stew is served with a good portion of crispy fries. As a dessert I had the Bier Brûlée, which is made with beer. I didn't find it an experience, but nevertheless it tastes good. I really recommend the place after this great experience!
Sander van Vliet — Google review
It was a great place to drink and dine. It was busy but probably not as busy as it usually is. The beers we ordered were good. I tried out some trappist monk beer and their blond beer. My husband took the brown beer and we had some beef stew and pork ribs for our meal. The service personnel are sharp and lively even when they are clearly swamped with orders. There were no wrong orders sent at our table even when we kept on ordering drinks which goes to show how organized they are. The best part is really the ambience and music was not bad either. If you are a religious person and take offense in the use of religious images, then this is probably not the place you'd want to visit. Only one thing I was disappointed about was that they ran out of mussels when we came, I was craving for the dish. Our spending per person is only because we ordered quite a lot of beer. 😅

Unique Restaurant with Hearty Belgian Food - I loved the interior of this place. The food was what I call “comfort food.” My Flemish beef stew was delicious. The service was also 5-stars - friendly and helpful. They also have a huge variety of beers. I am not really a beer drinker but I loved the staff-recommended Affligem Blond - light with a hint of sweetness and no aftertaste.

We had a perfect evening here. Beef stew was delicious - sometimes simple food tastes better and brings more joy, than some Michelin rated molecular nonsense. Beer accompanied food just right. Top all that with the proper atmosphere - and that’s Elfde Gebod.

We went to the new one by the river and also to the old Elfde Gebod next to the Cathedral. It was amazing how everyone in the service works hard and does their best to ensure great service and the food is amazing and the portions are big and the price is fair. Supper drink selection and a very nice and friendly team, highly recommend! Live music is played there, which makes the evening especially magical. Thank you for a great experience. See you next time for sure!

Lovely atmospheric restaurant. The food is great, exceeded my expectations. Beef stew and ribs top 👍 We were served by two guys upstairs. Very fast friendly service, everything is served very quickly, we arrived at 6pm and got our food within 15 minutes. At 7pm the restaurant was completely full but everyone got their dishes quickly. I didn't have inflated expectations for this restaurant as it's quite a touristy place but they surpassed them, they really try hard and offer awesome service and food. Way to go 👍 Thanks for a great evening we will be back again ❤️

Amazingly quirky restaurant, and i think it is the oldest in Antwerp. The food was excellent- we had the meatballs, fish stew and the steak, all cooked to perfection. There was a country musician performing live, and the whole place lit up when he sang Country Road. Strangely wonderful experience in the heart of old town Antwerp (right across from the cathedral).

Fantastic restaurant!! Fabulous service. The staff is cheerful and go out of their way to explain the menu. We had the ribs and rabbit stew, came with fries. Both were tasty. The prices were fair. The rib portion was large, so we should have split it. We spent the rest of the afternoon in a food coma. Great beer selection on tap and in bottles. I tried the honey beer on tap, it was too sweet for my taste. I should have taken up the waitresses offer to taste it first. You can ask to try 2 different beers. Unfortunately , we missed the live music. The musician was setting up as we were leaving. I read on the menu that there is no cover charge for live music, instead they increase the price of food a beverages slightly while music is playing. I believe I read, .50 more for beer and 1.00 more for food. Sounds reasonable to me. Highly recommend. We will certainly go again.

Wonderful restaurant with an absolutely unique atmosphere. Even live music at the right time. Also traditional dishes and a large variety of beer.

Stunning scenery, right outside the cathedral. Stunning scenery inside too. The beef stew is too die for, chose it because I missed home food and now when I'm back in England everytime I eat beef stew now I'm going to be missing these people's stew. The singer was amazing. The atmosphere was electric and the inside perfectly eccentric. If you come to Antwerp you must eat here.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
The Jane is a breathtaking fine dining restaurant located in a former military hospital in the centre of Antwerp, Belgium. The stunning chandelier with over 150 points of light, a neon skull and religious symbols from the chapel's past add to the incredible atmosphere of the restaurant. The highly skilled chefs serve up some of the most beautiful and mouth-watering dishes you will ever taste. A perfect venue for an intimate dinner or an event that requires impeccable service and unique cuisine.
Impeccable lunch experience in a very nice setting. Delicious and beautiful dishes prepared with precision. Atmosphere and service are relaxed but still flawless. Young and higly professional staff.

Food was nice in general. There were a few dishes that were sublime. However, overall there was no surprise in the menu. Service that night was not so well organized, and there were a few mishaps. One of the dishes was a surprise for the guests to figure out, but at the end of the evening there was no explanation of what the dish was. I stayed the whole night with one drink that became warm and was standing on the table the whole night, no one came to ask if I wanted a new drink. The water was pour into the glass so abruptly each time, the table was soaking wet. I expected a higher standard in service…

Phrases like "Religious experience", "I think I am going to cry."(it is so good), and "I might be high from this" may seem a bit like hyperbole when reviewing a restaurant....but I assure you, in this case, they are fully appropriate and words I actually uttered to my dining companions. The meal was one of the most amazing I have ever had, the service, presentation, and orchestration beyond reproach. The same can be said for the aperitief, the wine pairing(and!!! The non alcoholic pairing for my wife...absolutely stunning! ). The Jane deserves all of it's reputation. Thank you team@thejane, you made our anniversary dinner something beyond all our expectations.

Great experience for any food lover. Courses are well balanced and come to your table at an ideal pace. The wine pairing is at some points surprising but always complements the dishes. Friendly staff!

Overall an okay place. 10/10 for service. The staff is super friendly, personable and attentive. They were great to talk to. They made you feel super welcome. 8/10 the atmosphere was nice. The place itself is pretty trendy and unique. 6/10 the food was okay. Some of the dishes were bland and some were too salty. Overall it was fine but would expect more from a top rated restaurant. 7/10 the wines and cocktails were pretty good. Overall would recommend trying this place but not a priority compared to other Michelin star restaurants as the food was not anything out of the box.

Excellent experience to be at the famous Jane. Nothing to complain about, quality speak itself in their plate. Each dish was well-presented and well-balanced. If only I have to say something about ideas or things to make it even better in the future, that would be: 1. Maybe consider to have an ala carte menu, where guests can enjoy each course with slightly bigger portion (and of course don't mind to charge more price to it). Anyway, we will be back again in the future for more awesome experience. Thank you for having us, it was a great pleasure.

This is one of the best food experiences I ever had. From the cocktails through the 11 courses with paired wines it has been a true satisfaction for all your senses. Additionally the staff is very welcoming and happy to provide more details on the dishes or wine. You don’t want to miss out on this gastronomic journey!

It is a two stars Michelin restaurant(for me it is 3 😊), the food was really amazing most of the entries were seafood based. The presentation and service is really unique. To eat here is an experience. There is no parking close to the place you can park on the street if you find a place or close to the train station there is parking it take 10 min to walk from there to the restaurant.
Gamze Demirhan — Google review
I had my eye on coming to The Jane for several years, and it is a truly wonderful experience. The food is delicious, the building is incredible, and the price makes it inaccessible enough that you’re likely not going to become a regular. However, at times it felt like The Jane’s two Michelin star status is more heavily riding on the striking building, design, and the restaurants ubiquitous branding that seems to touch everything from the hand soap and room infusers, to the vinyl room in the basement, than to the dining experience. While it’s certainly a once in a lifetime experience, menu items sort of blended together rather than stood out, one from the other, and the service model, in which multiple different servers take care of your table, felt more impersonal than innovative. Clearly a very fine dining experience, but I am sad to say that I have had more impressive meals at restaurants with fewer stars and less hype. If this were not a two Michelin starred restaurant, it would easily receive five stars, but a perfect score isn’t merited for the price point and prestige that this restaurant carries.

Meat dish restaurant
Restaurant
Meat Factory, situated in Antwerp's Grote Markt, is a popular steakhouse known for its high-quality steaks and homemade burgers. The restaurant offers a variety of cuts and cooking styles to cater to both locals and tourists. Their burgers are made with seasonal ingredients, hand-minced and spiced for the best quality. The simple yet perfect toppings include cheese and a side of croquettes.
Amazing restaurant! Food quality is superb. The staff and owner were incredibly nice! Would definitely recommend and go back here in the future when visiting Antwerp.

(Translated by Google) The staff was extremely friendly. The restaurant is located on the old market. Beautiful view of the town hall and the Brabo fountain. However, I was disappointed with the food. The beef was on the tough side and lacked flavor. For the prices the restaurant charges, I expected higher quality beef. When I spoke to the waitress about it, she was very understanding. The sauces, vegetables, fries and croquettes, on the other hand, were tasty.

Very nice place with view on the Grote Markt (from some seats), great steaks, (portions are big enough). Desserts are quite big, and prices are not high considering you are in the centre of Antwerp. Best to book a table in advance. For those who like Italian wines, the white pinot grigio is fantastic. Staff is very friendly. Also burgers or salads available.

Best Service & Food experience in town. If you like meat & service at it‘s best than you need to give this place a chance! Try out the Cheeseburger with fries and the bernaise sauce, it‘s a blast! We recommend lunch time @12:30h to drop in without a reservation. But we would strongly recommend a reservation if weather conditions are bad due to it‘s a tiny restaurant with just a few seats. Have good time, we‘ll come back for sure!

We stopped for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant was empty, we sat outside, the service was polite and fast. My husband had the horse steak, mashed potatoes and salad. He had never eaten horse and did not know what to expect. He loved it. Tender, sweet and comparable to a Prime NY cut of beef. He would definitely try it again. While the name Meat Factory sounds kind of awful, it’s worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing service. Sarah deserves a raise. The food was okay. For the price I would say that I was a bit underwhelmed by the steak. It could have been a bit better with some sauce. But it is still steak so…🤩 Buy anyway, great place!

(Translated by Google) The restaurant is located on the main market, so we thought this was another tourist trap. But that is not the case. The meat is perfect. If you like meat then this is definitely worth a visit.

great service! however the steaks are a bit pricey for the taste. i loved the horse steak meat itself because it was smooth like butter and easy to cut through (pictured), but the seasoning and cooking was sub-standard in my opinion. the beef steak — we got the cheapest one — was less tender and smooth and it was even difficult to cut through. once again, it could have been seasoned better. for prices close to 30 euros per steak, i feel like the quality and taste is not worth the price. if you want sauce for ur steaks, i believe you have to add on 3.50 euros. however sides are free! ketchup and mayo is charged at 0.70 per serving as well… good for a one time meal.

(Translated by Google) The atmosphere was very good. You have a nice view of the Grote Markt. Service was also fine. Nice people. Because this was highly rated, we thought we would eat a nice piece of meat here, but this was quite disappointing. I had a filet mignon but the structure was very special. It also had little taste. As a starter we all shared onion rings, chicken wings, calamaris and bitterballen. These were tasty.

For the price, the food was not worth it. If it was about €10 less I would’ve been able to up the rating; otherwise, pretty mediocre. Nothing special about the cook on the chicken, the salad was also ‘meh,’ and the fries were okay.

The restaurant Het Pomphuis in Antwerpen is renowned for its high quality cuisine and expansive interior architecture. It is often our choice for a lunch or dinner with overseas guests or friends who appreciate the elegant atmosphere.
We had lunch here because of our civil wedding, and it was fantastic! Top service and delicious food! All our guests were happy with the menu (including vegetarian options), and the servers provided excellent service. They also had some pleasant details that we were not expecting. While hearing about this great place I was really tempted to visit it myself aswell, while being welcomed and handing over my coat I was lead to my table where I could enjoy of the sunset view in the many windows they have in this marvellous place which is based in the old out of service pump housing which brings over a very nostalgic feeling, I ordered the steak with fries aside which was very tasty and a catch for the eye. The sanitation area was very clean aswell which I find very important in this kind of high standard restaurants. The staff was friendly and gave you the opportunity to have a moment for reading the menu without feeling hasty to make a decision. At the end I couldn't resist ordering the Créme brûlée which I still haven't had any regrets from since this was one of the best I had, definitely a place worth your visit also perfect for private dinners because of the nice atmosphere and perfectly fine interior.

Being here for several times , really like the atmosphere and decorations here, service always great. However, today’s suggest menu first hang and amusement are both tartar.I’m not a big fan of pork, but the lomo main dish is really lovely. The wild duck is also great. Mussels soup is with smoked paling in it, add more flavor. Strawberry Dessert really with BIG strawberry, maybe cut it into pieces can be very helpful since I don’t have knife then. Whole experience is 4 star.

Cafe Restaurant Bourla occupies an elegant setting in the heart of Antwerp, with a focus on classic French dishes and a vintage decor that transports you to Paris of the 1930s. The menu provides excellent value for money and offers plenty of options to suit all tastes, making it a popular choice for diners.
Our go-to place when we visit Antwerp, for well over twenty years. Solid Flemish and French-inspired cuisine (with the odd pasta thrown in for good measure. Our favorites: oysters, the shrimp croquettes and shrimp with crushed potato and samphire. With a glass of white whine makes for a perfect lunch.

Always a very nice evening at Bourla. The food and drinks are always on par, Belgian and French specialties at a high level! Sadly they are a little understaffed for the amount of customers and you can feel overlooked at times (no one asking if you want another drink, or coming to ask if you want dessert or coffee , or bring the bill so you go pay yourself at the till.)

A very cozy restaurant in the heart of Antwerp. We visited in a big group and the experience was flawless, though we booked well in advance. Right from food to everything else. Ofcourse we were able to order drinks right there. The staff was friendly and did their best on a super busy evening, they took care of the group very well. The portion size for every meal was huge and delicious, most of us couldn't finish it all.

Their carbonade almost moved me to tears. To say it was divine would be an understatement, and I’m highly critical as this is my favorite dish. Do yourself a favor and try it, and get yourself the cheese croquettes too! When I called to make a reservation I was told they are fully booked - I asked my hotel to make a reservation for me and it worked. There were also some vacant places in the restaurant which weird. However, the atmosphere was great, the service was super kind and overall it was an unforgettable experience. Pets are allowed.

Fantastic restaurant with magnificent atmosphere and food of equal standards. The service is very friendly though there is a lack of attendance. We would have liked coffee after our main dish but there was simply nobody attending to our table anymore (for about 45 minutes) after clearing the main from the table.
Raymond van der Wal — Google review
It started with my main dish coming before my starter, due to a misunderstanding despite my clear instructions to the waiter. The main dish then arrived with the wrong sauce but I was too tired and famished to protest. And it ended with the wrong bill. Add to that the spectacle of cobwebs hovering above other tables. It looks like Bourla has seen better days in the past.
