Winbirri Vineyard

Mentioned on
Vineyard
Food & Drink
Winbirri Vineyard offers a 3-hour tour led by the owner and Head winemaker, Lee, who is passionate about their vineyards and wine production. The process from start to finish is enlightening as it changes one's perspective on the value of cheap versus expensive wine. The tour includes a tasting of five different wines, including their award-winning Bacchus. There are options to purchase wine by case or single bottle while enjoying the garden at the end of the tour.
We had a 3hr informative tour by the owner Lee who is also the Head wine maker. Lee is very passionate about the vineyards and the wine they produce, the whole process from start to finish is something you take for granted, the view i have about wine now is very different when you realise the difference between cheap and expensive wine, we had 5 different wines to taste, 3 white and 2 red including their award winning Bacchus. You can buy the wine by case or single, plus you can relax in the garden at the end of the tour. I would highly recommend and leave your car at home.

The tour was longer than other tours I've taken but the passion and knowledge shown by Lee was plain to see. Beautiful grounds and the wine is great.
Ali Graver — Google review
Honestly do yourself a favour and book yourself a wine tour at this vineyard. The wine is superb and the way they grow their wine is so sustainable. The passion and love for wine of the team that runs this vineyard is second to none. It's such a great and informative tour, a generous wine tasting and one of the most educational and rewarding wine tastings we have ever done. I can't recommend this place enough.
Sandy Kenneally — Google review
Amazing place to visit and the wine is delicious. Lee is very knowledgeable and a very clever winemaker. Learnt a lot from him about wine. He must be very proud of what he has acheived.
Marguerite Shreeve — Google review
The wine tasting tour is fantastic. The owner Lee is personable and exceptional passionate and knowledgable, it was so interesting and refreshing to hear his commitment and positivity. The wines have a reputation that they easily live up to, simply superb. We would also like to mention the team around the wine garden , who were so friendly and helpful , they made us feel welcome and special. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and beautiful surroundings immersed in the vineyard itself , what a great day ……do yourself a favour and go
Nick Orme — Google review
The vineyard is a family run business and the owners are obviously passionate about their wines. They were super helpful in helping us choose which wines to try and helped me load the cases into my boot. My favourite was the Signature 2016 with the Bacchus 2019 a close second 😁
Mel Thirtle — Google review
Lovely to sit out in the garden and the wine was lovely (we had the white/rose).....BUT, the rather aloof member of the bar staff refused to let me try the red (despite a bottle being open on the bar), which was a shame, as I was planning to buy 6-12 bottles (but did not really want to pay £9 bottle without trying it first) . A rather odd marketing strategy for a vineyard, as surely that's the whole point - you try the wine before you buy it?? I doubt I will go back.
Dee C — Google review
A lovely place, a great wine tasting of some of their superb wine, Lee shares his philosophy of minimum intervention wine making and some of the financial hurdles he has had to get over to produce Winbirri's wines. A great lunch alongside the vines really was a great way to end the visit. Thoroughly recommended .
Barrie Tynemouth — Google review
To visit a local norfolk vineyard with an international reputation, thats a day out! The vision of one man to plant a few vines which became an internationally acclaimed business is inspiring! A great and informative tour followed by a wine tasting and charcuterie was fabulous! Thanks to Lee and his parents for a fab experience, well worth the taxi fare (well you couldn't drive!)
Tony Parkins — Google review
The Winbirri Vineyard tour was both informative and entertaining, and during the tasting portion I knew I would be going home with a couple of bottles. It was a beautiful setting for enjoying wine, and you can also purchase coffee, snacks, or a charcuterie platter. The owner was very personable, and the staff was friendly. I definitely recommend it!
Lynn Morales — Google review
I never realised that we had vineyards in this country so I was pleasantly surprised to find we do! It's dog friendly too which is a bonus. We went for a walk near the marshes and called in winbiirrii. I enjoyed the meats and cheeses and nibbles very much. I would recommend it to anyone.
Patricia Phillips — Google review
Excellent tour and tasting. Head winemaker was informative and entertaining. Great wines to sample and despite being a wet day it was highly enjoyable. Recommended.
Ian Reid — Google review
This was our first trip to this fabulous vineyard. Although the day was freezing cold, Lee’s passion and enthusiasm kept us thoroughly entertained. We learnt so much and had a very enjoyable day with friends. The sharing platters were delicious and we look forward to sampling some of the delicious bottles of wine we bought on hot sunny days during the summer!

We had a fabulous afternoon and we were blessed with sunshine! The tour was amazing and the wine tasting even better! Amazing wine! Can’t wait to come back again 🍷

Time and Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth Life

Mentioned on
Museum
Specialty Museums
The Time and Tide Museum showcases the towns maritime history from its Ice Age origins to the present day. The museum features historic Victorian row houses that have been rebuilt, as well as a 1950s fish wharf scene.
I have been here several times over the years, my late Father loved it, having schooled in Great Yarmouth in the 40's and he liked to visit once per year if he could. It is a fantastic insight into our local history. Whether you're local or visiting, this is a must. If you haven't been, you should!
Ellis Gee — Google review
The Time and Tide Museum in Great Yarmouth provides a fascinating look at the area's history, from prehistoric times through to the present day. The exhibits are detailed and engaging, offering a mix of artefacts and interactive elements that appeal to visitors of all ages. A notable aspect is the museum's accessibility. My parents, who have limited mobility, found it easy to navigate thanks to the ramps and lifts throughout the building. This thoughtful design made it possible for us to explore the entire museum without any difficulty. Overall, the Time and Tide Museum is a brilliant place to discover history, with the added benefit of being accessible to everyone. If you're in Great Yarmouth and interested in learning about the area's rich past in a welcoming environment, this museum is a must-visit.
Ali Javed — Google review
Amazing museum. The recreation of the Rows - historic narrow streets - is terrific. Very detailed history of the herring and shrimp fishing industry (surprisingly interesting!). Plus the general history of Great Yarmouth. Lots of places to sit down as you go round, good activities for children (and adults!!) e.g. dressing up stuff). We spent 3 hours there!!
Colin Russell — Google review
So much to see with well laid out displays. It really gave a great insight into Gt Yarmouth and the Herring industry and then later the Oil Exploration boom in the 70's. Well worth the admission price. I think kids could spend at least a couple of hours there exploring.
Joseph Hood — Google review
It doesn't look very big from the photos of the exterior does it? but imagine it as a bit like a Tardis of a museum, there is stacks to see as you move through the buildings behind the facade, an amazing museum of Yarmouth life particularly the fishing but also so many other aspects and history of the town. To be honest we were mightily impressed by the layout and by the concise but informative information panels and we both consider it to be one of the best and most enjoyable museums we've ever visited, it really is well worth a visit.
Brian Turner — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised at how good this little museum was. The reconstruction of the street is impressive and engaging and you will learn a lot about herring during your visit! We were fortunate to catch the retro games exhibition just before its run ended and that was well put together. Also worth noting that the staff here were very friendly and helpful.
Phat Mann — Google review
🎉 My partner and I had an adventure today at the Time and Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth! 🏛️ Upon entering, I mentioned that I qualified for a concession ticket as a carer, but we were charged for two. 😕 Thankfully, after explaining the situation and referencing my online research that stated carers enter for free, the issue was resolved. We were handed a leaflet and a map to guide us through our journey. The staff mentioned that the museum was much larger than it appeared, and off we went! 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Let me start by saying that this museum is jam-packed with interesting things. 🤩 However, I must admit that it didn't quite capture my attention as much as I had hoped. 😔 It just wasn't my cup of tea, you know? While certain rooms did manage to grab my interest at times, overall, I felt like the museum lacked cohesion and each room seemed disconnected from the next. It was like jumping from discussing the herring industry and its growth to playing an ancient Roman game, then suddenly shifting focus to historical fashion, fishing nets, retro games, and even artifacts from a museum that closed down in the 1700s! 🐟🎮👗 On the positive side, I appreciated the museum's efforts to ensure accessibility. All the rooms were wheelchair-friendly, and there was a lift to access different floors. 🦽 Although I found the lift a bit peculiar with its ten buttons, which could be confusing for people with disabilities. Additionally, there were some strong herring smells in the smoke rooms, but it did add a unique touch to the experience. 😄 I was glad to see that they had a multi-sensory room available for those who needed it. 🌈 Overall, I found the museum to be a bit of a mixed bag. I couldn't quite grasp the connection between some of the exhibits and rooms. However, I did come across information that the museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary next year in 2024, and they have plans to adapt to the needs of today's audience. 🎉 I believe witnessing those changes will be truly awesome! 💪

Well worth a visit. Fascinating and family friendly. Great for a rainy afternoon in Great Yarmouth. Good to support the museum.
Mark Wakefield — Google review
Loved this museum very interesting loved how they showed the fishing industry and how they hung the fish up in the building in columns and smoked the fish , loved the walk down the old street to see how they lived, many more interesting historical stuff in there .
glenda speed — Google review
Nice place to visit, but not going to lie - the retro gaming exhibition was the bit that caught my interest! Staff were nice and friendly and there is sort of a route to follow round the museum (as opposed to one where you go where ever you like!) There was a few hands on type things for the little people (a fishing game / sailing a fishing ship / fancy dress etc.) On the way out (or in!) there is also a little gift shop and also a cafe. If you pop to the museum at the moment there is a retro gaming exhibition with some packman, sonic and Mario games to play - along with some old school consoles to reminise at!
Andrew Cartwright — Google review
This was a good insight into how local fishermen lived and worked in years gone by. There also some coins, bracelets etc found by archiologists. Some crockery etc from the Titanic along with some of its history. Worth the entry fee and it took nearly 2 hours to go around looking at everything.
Linda Leedale — Google review
Great little museum, with some things that helped with my family history
susan anderson — Google review
An absolute 5 star plus for this little Museum which expands like the tardis! A modest entrace fee is well worth it. Or you can purchase a fuller ticket that lets you into other venues of interest for a year plus this one of course If you use the car park nearby you need at least 3 hours. We did not manage to get everything fully explored in our time frame of 2 hours so be aware. School parties visit here too so it's full of all the small excited liitle people. Special assistance dogs are allowed and we took our greyhound Blaze who behaved impeccably. There is so much to see where do l begin. An amazing history of Great Yarmouth in its heyday and the wealth gained through its world wide herring fishing. The influx of the Scots at a particular time of year when they boosted the economy of this once great fishing port helped its wealth and growth. Processing of herring and the different methods are so interesting and demonstrated here. I particularly like the little street and the various victorian shops and houses reproduced. The Great Yarmouth Flood of the 1950s, where aid and generosity of other counties came into play, especially coal that helped bring warmth and dry out the houses. The 2 world wars had an impact on this coastal region which received the most devastation of the coastal ports. Things of course changed and holiday makers after the war flocked in their thousands as industries changed and died out. There are still many gems of the past in Yarmouth which alongside the deprivation and poverty needs to be looked for.
Ann Presence — Google review
Well worth a visit. The museum includes an engaging reconstruction of a 1913 street in Great Yarmouth, plenty of background to the herring industry including smoking stacks, fishing boats, and more. When we visited there was also a retro gaming exhibit with playable arcade games. Overall a great balance of education and enjoyment. Budget about 90 minutes for a light visit, or 3 hours if you want to read every poster.
Jason Moller — Google review
Very interesting learning about the fishing industry in Yarmouth. It is reasonably wheelchair friendly and does have lifts to the upper floor. There is also a disability toilet on site.
Alison Reed — Google review
Wow, wow, wow. Great place lots to see, loads of interesting history and stories. Things for kids to do. This place is a hidden gem. But allow plenty of time if you read a lot like me.

Great museum off the beaten track. We learnt lots about the varied history of Great Yarmouth. The lingering smell of the herring smoke tower is not for the faint hearted though ;-).

Far more interesting than I thought it would be. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area, the smell of the fish smoking is still present. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

Norwich Cathedral

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Norwich Cathedral is a famous Romanesque church edifice dating from 1096. It's currently the cathedral for the Church of England Diocese of Norwich, and is open to visitors who don't follow its faith. The cathedral has high Norman tower, large monastic cloisters, and some original Norman wall painting.
Wonderful place to visit. My first visit but certainly not my last. The staff were very helpful couldn't and be faulted. Next time I will take the free guided tour.
Neil Linney — Google review
An amazing place to visit and won't break the bank. The entrance is very welcoming. Very open and modern with lots of information on offer and no extra mandatory charge for it, like some cathedrals. You can wander around freely or go on a tour. I chose to walk freely but would recommend a tour if you would like more info or at least picking up some of their booklets. The buildings themselves and grounds are very well kept and are nice to walk around. I am glad this cathedral is being looked after. The upstairs is accessible with a lift where the cafe/toilets and library are situated. I was lucky enough to visit their library on a day where they were allowing visitors to view their older books. This for me was an incredible experience and I am grateful to have seen the incredible volume of books they care for. I did have to park a little bit away but Norwich does have a good amount of parking about, and its the only thing you would have to pay for in this trip.

A must see. Upon entry you are greeted by staff who give you a guide and explain a few things. No entry fee however there is a voluntary donation desk if you wish to donate. Donation is greatly received and appreciated. Inside the Cathedral there is lots to see with beautiful art work and architecture. Soak in the peaceful atmosphere and view the beautiful glass stained windows. There are guided tours. gift shop, cafe and toilets.

A very beautiful cathedral. The cathedral is the seat of the bishop of Norwich and the mother church of the diocese of Norwich. It is located in the heart of the city so I recommend anyone who goes to Norwich to visit. Entrance is free and it is pet friendly as well. The staff is also very helpful and inform you by answering all your questions sincerely.
Mine Osan — Google review
Beautiful cathedral which has a free entry although they do request for a donation at the second entrance (min £5). The shop has a lot of nice items too. Unfortunately, the toilets are closed here so ensure you empty your bowels before hand.

Lovely visit to Norwich cathedral with a primary school group. Informative guides and interactive stained glass activities with the children. The cathedral is clean, tidy and well looked after. Cashless cafe.

A must see on your to do list if visiting Norwich. We visited around 2.30pm on a Sunday in December. We were welcomed by a very friendly, bubbly, informative lady at the entrance. Entrance is free but if you can give a donation it all helps to keep this incredible building in the remarkable condition it is. We listened to the organ playing whilst taking in the breathtaking stained glass windows, incredible architecture (remember to look up) and the history. Pausing to light candles in remembrance of others and for peace. Sitting for a few moments of prayer and contemplation. There is a wonderful cafe attached to the side of the cathedral, scrumptious cakes, scones, rolls, pastries, mince pies; eat in or take out. We sat and had a delicious cup of earl grey and a nibble of naughtiness. Would highly recommend to all.

Phenomenal is the only word for it. It is free to visit and Dogs are allowed, which is rare. The building is HUGE, with so many Chapels within it. The whole building is beautiful and so well maintained. Allow two hours to see it properly. There is a Cafe on the upper level too.

OUTSTANDING The best religious building I've been in by far. The history is fascinating. If you get the chance to do a guided tour then you must, there knowledge is amazing. Loved everything about this Cathedral.
Sara Tomlinson — Google review
Really lovely cathedral right in the middle of Norwich, in walking distance of the train station. I only popped in for a quick visit so really didn't get the full experience. I'd love to come back and invest a bit more time as there's so much to look at and so much history to learn about. I recommend giving yourself a couple of hours if you really want to explore everything, however it's still worth going in if you only have a little bit of time.
Connor Scott-Gardner — Google review
Very impressive cathedral, amazed it was free to visit! I particularly enjoyed the treasury and seeing the painted brickwork up close, many people don't know that these historic buildings were painted when they were first built, that paint has largely faded over the centuries.
Matt Roberts — Google review
Incredible 900 year old building, absolutely huge and stunningly beautiful. Spent well over an hour here because there was just so much to see. Can visit for free or make a donation. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. One of the best cathedrals I've ever been to.
Tim Husain — Google review
Love this cathedral. Love the grounds and building. You can light candles and give prayer requests. It's donation only and walkable to the main city as it's the bottle m end of the city. Your surrounded by plenty of places to eat . If Norwich is new to you, Riverside has gravity / the Odeon a/ swimming and bowling etc and the main centre has most stores and some quaint side streets. The assembly house is an amazing place for a treat afternoon tea and an amazing building in itself.

Just not enough time to explore this amazing building, it's actually really big and the courtyard reminds me of something from Harry Potter or X Men. You have to come here with 2-3 hours to appreciate. Also wrap up as it's cold in here too!

The cathedral is nice. The staff very welcoming and friendly. Lovely place to relax if you need to quiet your mind. What's really lovely though is the surrounding area. The most beutiful chocolate box houses you've ever seen

It is a fantastic building worth exploring if you are in Norwich. Some lovely stained glass windows are framed by the architecture, and the craftsmanship is incredible. Free to explore and see what the building has to offer. There is a cafe, toilets and a gift shop and a labyrinth in the cloister. I visited late in the day so the cafe and shop were closed along with the exhibition but reason to visit again one day
Ashley Lightfoot — Google review
I absolutely loved our visit to Norwich Cathedral. They have super helpful volunteers on the door that are extremely nice and make you feel really welcome. We joined a free tour which was superb, it lasted just over an hour and I could have listened to the guide all day. The architecture was simply stunning and the information that the guide conveyed brought the history of the cathedral to life. I loved the carvings of the Green Men dotted all over the place. Entry was free (as it should be for a place of worship) but I was more than happy to make a donation to this wonderful place.

Really nice visit, even though I am local and seen it all before....you can't fail to be impressed by the beautiful architecture of this magnificent building, the sheer scale of it is incredible. My young son really enjoyed looking around which was somewhat surprising as it's not really something you would think children would enjoy.......it's the school holidays & IT'S ALWAYS RAINING !!!! so give me marks for being creative!!! the resident cathedral cat helped my cause & obviously the cafe who is powered by BREAD SOURCE so always gonna be a winner!! Although the gift shop is seriously lacking ...although really busy with customers even my 5 year old couldn't find anything he wanted...that means it is REALLY BAD.... should collaborate with Jarrolds to stock it. Two Norwich icons together would be great to see.

Beautiful cathedral with so much history to see. Free to enter, but I would suggest a good donation as it’s such a nice day out. Really dog friendly, except the cafe, but there are plenty of dog friendly places to eat in Norwich. The staff are so welcoming and knowledgeable.

The guide showed us Graffiti markings on some of the walls that was put there by some of the stonemasons..There is a cafe and toliets on site as well..

Stunning architectural building made many of our group feel so emotional. To think it took 50 years to construct is truly amazing especially considering it dates back to 1096. Our son took part in being a chorister for a day last Saturday. It was so special and something we will always remember. The staff were so committed and passionate. It was a real privilege. Definitely recommend the shop, too. Lots of lovely bits and pieces to buy for presents or keep sakes to remember the day, reasonably priced and good quality. We give 5*

East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden is a splendid tourist attraction that boasts expansive, imaginatively-designed gardens featuring an array of rare species, as well as an apple walk, woodland and cornfield. The walled and themed gardens exhibit a delightful range of plants and blossoms that one can purchase at the garden centre. A charming tea room offers delectable cakes while benches offer tranquil spots to savour the breathtaking scenery.
These gardens are great. Buying a map might be a good idea or using Google maps to keep a track of where you’ve been. The gardens are immense, eclectic and interesting. I can’t even begin to imagine what they are like in the summer. The cafe is really good. We sat outside with a ploughman’s each. Loads of beautiful outdoor spaces to sit. We had a cheeky robin join us. Great plant shop and lots of secondhand tools.

Absolutely stunningly beautiful, definitely worth the visit. Wonderful to see the pictures of how the garden was created and throughout the years. Tea room had many tasty delights and a very comfy room with a wood burner fire

Really impressed with all the gardens - everywhere! 32 Acres is a very big area, and I'm afraid we didn't cover it all.. Really well planned and executed, some wonderful plants, all seemingly in the right environment for them! Initially thought admittance price of £11-50 a bit steep, but not once you could see just how much care and love has been poured into this lovely space!
Linda Lee — Google review
I would have given the gardens another star but as they do not provide any maps, I did not like just randomly wandering around the grounds not knowing how the different gardens connected with each other. At times we seemed to be going through wooded areas on the outside or the outskirts of gardens and after doing a lot of walking, we would come to more formal gardens that were closer to the entrance and cafe than we thought. With a small map we could have decided on a route and we would have found other gardens easier. The gardens themselves are well worth a visit and you shouldn't miss the alpacas.

First time visiting , recommended by friend did not disappoint. Lovely set out gardens plenty to walk round and see. Places to sit and spend time reflecting. Interesting to round a corner and find another vista or walkway to another hidden gem. Wisterias were amazing on the pergolas and lots of gorgeous bearded iris Agave Montana has two flower spikes which are something to behold will be amazing when bloom. Loved the photographs of the progression from purchase and no garden to individual areas of garden. Small selection of plants to buy and lots of old gardening tools which are displayed , and can be purchased . Some I haven't seen for a while. Lovely cup of tea in the tea rooms and nice selection of meals and cakes. Spent a relaxing three hours here and never realised how busy it was until visited the tea rooms and saw the car park . Will definitely return later in the year to see a different range of flora

In love with this place. Only down the road from where I live, try to come every year, but only been in August time, because I love hydrangeas so much and mainly come to adore them. Obviously lots of other plants to see too. I wish they sold their tomatoes, they got so many and different ones too. Next time might bring snacks as I can easily spend all day here. Look out for opening times, shut on Monday and Tuesday. Also cafe doesn't have hot food, only cakes and filtered coffee /tea

Best garden we've been to! Lots to see, liked that you can just keep wandering and finding another little gem, no set route, just walk, sit, enjoy, and repeat. So many different varieties of plants, shrubs, trees. The water feature is fantastic! Good choice in cafe, had lunch first, walked around the gardens and then tea and cake afterwards.

Best meal I’ve had in Norwich since… ever?? We did the 5 course taster menu. Every dish was exquisite. Not over fussy, but still very skilful in its simplicity and just very tasty. Portions were perfect. Wine was matched really well and staff were very helpful and good fun. Will def go back.

Booked Al-fresco dining, and would recommend it! - we were even given blankets as the autumn nights were creeping in. Dinner for two and they have a simple menu for the street-side option, so we have one each and shared (all except the vegetarian option). Service was amazing. Dishes were not entirely mind blowing in gustatory appeal, but certainly in experience, and the Al-fresco menu was affordable. All-in-all we thought it was excellent value. Great wine also - from the recommendation. A gastronomic experience, within which we were well looked after. The whole thing was made affordable street-side.

Went with friends and had the private room upstairs which was so intimate and perfect for friends hen night. 2 lovely waitresses who were very attentive and the food was something else!! Taster menu consisting of about 5 courses all of which was excellent. Would throughly recommend for a very special occasion. It's expensive but the quality of the food exceptional. Would definitely go again. Well done to the chefs!

Been very sceptical about Benedicts , for a decade, for no valid reason. Had a coronation lunch, to avoid the faf. We had the set menu, with the coronation cocktail, and the wine flight. It was faultless, not a phrase I've ever used before. The food was different and interesting. The wine was great, and generously poured. The service was friendly and well informed. A very pleasant meal, and will probably go back for an evening meal.

Absolutely delicious food. We all had a lunch set menu which was divine. It was my mum‘s birthday and they prepared a beautiful little card and dessert for her. The service was very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is relaxed and chatty rather than stiff which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend.

A really wonderful meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Such a treat to enjoy an interesting and well balanced vegetarian set menu with delicious flavours and no boring risotto. Cauliflower was a particular highlight (who knew it could taste so good?!) and I’m still thinking about the perfectly baked brioche with wild garlic butter, which I could happily eat every day and never tire of it. Service very friendly and efficient. Expensive but worth every penny for a special occasion.

Amazing experience. The food was outstanding and the service even better. They accommodated a last minute birthday request which really completed the night. A must if you are in Norwich, we will be back.

A couple in our hotel described Benedicts as "expensive". I'd argue it isn't, for what it has to offer. First, 61GBP for a 6 course set menu is pretty standard. They are also very accommodating. We aren't big drinkers, so we asked to split accompanying wines in two, to try them out, but not to drink too much. And we did the same with cheeses. We wanted to try everything, but to be frank, their main dish was quite big, compared to other restaurants with set menus, where sometimes you get a single piece of meat. All in all, very friendly service, not a single dish I would consider to be weak, and a very reasonable price for that.
Alex — Google review
I really can't say enough good things about this restaurant - everything is thought through and presented meticulously but with such friendliness and ease of service. The menu is outstanding, and whilst presented as a tasting menu was flexible to cater to some group members. Wine list is also excellent. The atmosphere is warm and laid back, the staff on point. I really look forward to coming back soon.

Farmyard Restaurant is a small, bistro-style restaurant located in the heart of Norwich. The food here is inspired by classic European bistros, with meat, fish and vegetables cooked over charcoal. It's a great place to go for a relaxed meal with top quality produce and brilliant flavours.
Amazing experience. The food is fantastic from the ideas to the plating to the flavours. The chocolate bar didn't fail to live up to it's name. If I had one suggestion, that would be to be more descriptive in the menu of where the ingredients come from for each dish. For a restaurant that boasts about local ingredients, it's nice to know more about exactly that. We loved the whole experience though.
Ross Green — Google review
Nice meal and the waiter was friendly. I didn't rate it 5 stars because the triple cooled chips were too dry (more like crisps) and the mayo was less than a tablespoon size. The pork collar was okay but a tiny part pink (pork must be fully cooked because their meat ican easily house a parasite) Overall, a good pricey restaurant for hanging out.

We were impressed. We enjoyed the food. It was obvious the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. We ordered from the set menu, 3 courses for £30pp. I had the ham hock terrine and my wife the French onion soup to start, we both enjoyed these. We had the duck for main, which was cooked perfectly, it fell apart in the mouth. We also shared some chips, they were very good. For dessert we had the dark chocolate and amaretto delice, this was amazing. The service was excellent and the atmosphere quiet and calm. Food is expensive here, but portion sizes are good and food quality is to a good standard. We would recommend.

Superb bistro dining with local ingredients and stellar wine list. Amazing staff and an incredible value fixed price lunch menu. Local mussels, sirloin, cured salmon.

Excellent friendly service, Superb dishes. I chose salmon and my friend chose the mushroom dish which was very tasty but maybe a little too spicy on harissa

A quiet lunchtime service on a Tuesday, but attentive enough to make the meal a pleasure. Food was good, with great local ingredients and good flavours. Amazing artwork on the wall by local and Scrawl Collective member, Will Barras too, which makes the establishment a visual delight too. Something many establishments cannot claim. A definite recommend, should you be in the vicinity.

fantastic thanks for the day out. like the octopus starter and lamb & stone bass mains. Won’t recommend the tuna which is too-fancy rather close to Japanese tuna sashimi but too fishy to have. Like the service and the decorations is good !

Expensive food. No atmosphere. & £25 mark up on bottles of wine. Shocking! As much as it was pleasant to eat here, it was over priced for what you got. Veg/chips/salads all extras nothing as standard. Menu hasn’t changed in 5 years, same as when we previously went. no atmosphere just loud talking, no music no character. Wouldn’t recommend & wouldn’t go again unfortunately especially when they’re cheeky enough to add on £25 pure profit on a £15 bottle of wine given the current climate. Poor show Farm Yard

I think perhaps I expected too much from my visit. I had the crab starter, tasty but small. Then we shared a cote de beuf. I was surprised neither the waiter nor the kitchen staff knew what breed the steak was. It was cooked to perfection with a great crust but rather grizzly and a bit tough. Can't blame the restaurant for this, but I do think serving balsamic glazed shallots on tops is a mistake as it overly influences the flavour of the meat. The wine was an average tasting malbec, and I have had much better at a similar price point. One further observation, the steak knives were possibly the worst I have ever used. I might have been better off with a butter knife. I'm glad I checked it off my list of places to visit.

I can't remember when I last had a meal so good. Relaxed quality. Highly recommend. Unfortunately, we live in New Zealand, so will be a long time before we get to experience again, but will be top of the list if things to do when we are next in the UK, not just next time we are in Norwich.

Consistently very good food and service; highly recommended. There is an interesting and varied wine selection. Service is friendly and unobtrusive. The open kitchen is a nice touch, so you can see the food being cooked and arriving at the pass. I particularly recommend the cote de boeuf which is cooked over charcoal and is delicious; dare I say tastier than the equivalent served at The Gunton Arms!
Adrian Tearle — Google review
Visited for the first time with family and friends. The food was exceptional, good size portion for me, incredible taste and presentation! The service quite relaxed, not disturbing you every 5 minutes to check in with you. We were amongst first clients, the service seemed a bit slow, but it did not really bothered me. They have a good variaty of beverage. The atmosphere at the table was lovely, but music too loud and the style playing didn't really fit in (club style music) which personally I didn't mind, but I believe a jazz or somthing smooth would have been in better sync with the place. The chairs not too comfortable, and nowhere to put your coats (I had a long coat and the chairs are low). Some degree of child friendliness, but not really suitable for toddlers, very few options of meals @dinner time (in our case), mine had a sandwich and other bits brought from home. However, they have baby highchairs. Overall, I believe it was a nice experience and I would gladly visit again!

The Ingham Swan is a traditional English country inn with a fine-dining restaurant serving gourmet food with a real aesthetic flair. The Inn's menu features seasonal delights, each served in a creative way that looks as good as it tastes. It's a great spot for gastronomes to enjoy the local countryside and footpaths, and also has some very comfortable rooms in an old stable block next door.
Small restaurant in converted pub in pretty, quiet location. Warm, friendly staff. Stylish but relaxed, quiet, restaurant style setting. Food excellent and reasonably priced, including a 3 course menu of the day for a very reasonable price. Fabulous quality food. Very fresh ingredients, fabulous flavours and some really interesting flavour combinations. All in all an excellent meal. Will definitely return when in the area. In fact they do rooms as well. So enjoyed the food planning a short break here.

Having several food allergies eating out can prove quite tricky. However, the 7 course taster menu was adapted so I was able to enjoy the delicious samples with no worries at all. The staff were most helpful and accommodating throughout our overnight stay. Superb service and always with a smile. I would highly recommend and definitely will be coming back.

First. The food and service were amazing. We had the 7/8 course Taster Menu. Everything cooked and presented perfectly. Breakfast was small at first glance, but top notch ingredients meant it was very satisfying. Second. Accommodation. We stayed in room 4 as it was part of the package. Very nice space tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer, fan, TV and a hanging rail. The bathroom was compact but usable. The shower cubicle was very compact. I'm 6'3" and 20stone. It made the shower an experience. But did not detract from the overall stay. Small negatives. One chair in the room for 2 people I never get why places do this. Only a double bed where a king size would easily fit( I think some other rooms had larger beds). But again, it didn't impact our short stay Will definitely be coming again.

We book Sunday lunch here, whilst touring for a weekend on a motorcycle, the weather turned, and we headed for the Ingham Swan early, the welcome was warm and we were invited to sit in a snug, waiting area with a drink.m whilst the team did their best to seat us early, which they did! The food was excellent, as was the service, and we were so impressed. We’ve booked again for Sunday lunch and an overnight stay on a dinner bed and breakfast package, highly recommended

We had a lovely stay here this weekend. The staff were so lovely and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Particular shout out to the manager Isabella who looked after us so well. The room was beautifully decorated and despite being cosy up in the loft space, it was everything we needed. The breakfasts were lovely and the chef was very accommodating to my vegan diet. Highly recommend.

Quite possibly one of the best meals I have ever eaten, the service was 1st class. Hubert our server for the evening was professional, friendly, wonderful personality and made sure we were all happy with everything. At the end of our meal we went and sat outside one of our party forgot her wine (only a third if a glads) and we all assumed it would've been thrown, out popped Hubert with said wine asking if she would like it how about that for going above and beyond on a busy night?? I will definitely be going back (my 1st time and I am ashamed to say I only live 8 miles away!) I cannot praise this wonderful venue up enough well worth a visit.

The Swan is a very comfortable place to stay and is justly proud of its restaurant, the food there is very good. The accommodation is in a converted block adjacent to the main bar and restaurant building. Our room was very comfortable and sleep came easily to us. Across the very adequate car park stands Immingham Church, an impressive building whose history dates back to the 1300s. Our prime objective for staying there was it's proximity to Horsey Gap, an area well known by those who enjoy watching the local seals who use the beach for resting on Inbetween fishing trips. Although we did not use it, there is comfortable access to areas of the Norfolk Broads from The Swan

If you are looking for something special then this is the place. You will not be disappointed. We pre-booked for a Sunday evening and the venue was comfortable without being overly busy. A warm welcome was offered as soon as we arrived, initially by one of the locals helping my wife and I down the step into the bar area. We had already chosen the Taster Menu...around 7 courses of brilliance from the kitchen. Each one perfectly introduced by Liv. Additionally, Holly attended to our drinks and replacement cutlery. The staff were superb and not intrusive. Each course was delicious...especially the fillet of beef and the scallops. My wife avoided shellfish with a perfectly prepared fillet of Sea Bass. A bottle of Australian Shiraz topped the meal off nicely. Charlie delivered some complimentary chocs (my birthday) and a bunch of daffs for Mothers Day... a nice touch. We didn't stay overnight this time around but we hope to soon. Wonderful food, great place and superb staff.

We went there for lunch when away for a long weekend. We didn't stay at the hotel but made 2 visits to the restaurant. By far the best meal I have eaten in a very long time. Absolutely exquisite. We cannot wait to return one day! Thank you for such an amazing gastronomic experience.

No longer a pub, this is a fine dining restaurant - though the bar has been retained with two beers on draught. Beautifully renovated, cosy and casual atmosphere. Got busy on a Thursday (outside of school holidays) in Feb so we were lucky (as hadn't reserved). Every first bite of a new dish was memorable - particularly liked the smoked duck dish that Wasn't relying on fat or fruit for the flavours.

Roger Hickman's Restaurant is a modern British restaurant that has been awarded three AA rosettes. The menu features dishes based on high-quality produce and creative cooking, making it the perfect place to enjoy a night out with friends or family.
the occasion was my wife's birthday. We both indulged in the taster menu (one vegetarian one not) with the perfectly paired wine flight. We arrived a little early as it was raining but were made very welcome. The Service was very attentive and the small interesting dishes flowed perfectly over about 3 hours. There was a slight delay in the main arriving but a top up of the wine meant that was expertly negotiated. Every dish was exceptional with intriguing flavours and texture. The toffee banana Ice cream was delicious but not quite as innovative as the rest. Very memorable evening thank you.

The food was brilliant. We both had the 7 course and a premium wine flight. Service was very good and the entire evening was fantastic. Staff were attentive while still giving you enough space to chat and enjoy the evening. Never made to feel out of place or that we didn't know enough to appreciate the food or wine.

Service was good and food was not bad. A bit of delay between the starters and mains, and the risotto was a little too thick for my own liking. However the pork belly and skate (both mains) were excellent.

Food was lovely but it was tiny. We had the three course lunch menu, we came out as hungry as when we arrived. The pork belly main was 1cm squared by 10cm long. I don't want pile it high but too much theatre and prettyness over the portion size. Bishop's restaurant is better for the ratio

Came here for our 30th wedding anniversary. In a world where chain restaurants are the norm, and quantity is valued more than quality, Hickman's is a reminder of why it's worth supporting great local restaurants.... We had a fantastic lunch, two courses of top quality food for £32, with brilliant, professional and charming service from Kevin. If you're looking for somewhere to go for a special- or any occasion for good food, look no further.

My partner and I went here for lunch after a stressful morning and decided to go for the 3 courses. It did not disappoint at all. First of all, it's a nice clean restaurant. The staff are lovely and make you feel welcome as soon as you come through the door. We were a little late for our booking but they didn't mind. It had a real decent list of drinks, especially wines, but we decided to go with a craft ale. We recieved an amazing amusebouche (complimentary pre-starter) and freshly baked bread whilst we waited for our starters. It wasn't too long before the starters arrived. All the food was great, we had a cheese board to share which they kindly brought out to us on separate plates. We decided to have a coffee to top it off at the end, which came with delightful little chocolates. The service was brilliant. Our waiter Richard was polite and attentive and explained what was in each dish with a lot of detail. A true fine dining experience. Thanks to Richard and the team! Can't wait to go back

Emailed the Restaurant in advance of the booking to check that the menu that was on the website was up-to-date. Didn’t get a reply and didn’t get chance to check back as I was so busy, unfortunately wasn’t the menu expected when we got there . Food was OK. Some was lovely some not so. Beef shin was stringy. Could not cut the spring onions with cutlery. Cheese was uninspiring … was it from Sainsbury’s? And it was served too cold. Lots of wine out of stock on menu but what we had was excellent. Guy that served us did a good job although he would have been better to use a Folded napkin to catch drips on the wine bottle rather than his finger 😳 Noticed the low star hygiene rating sign on the wall and looked it up and was 2/5 star! This is the third time I’ve been and I’ve never really rated it so won’t be going back

From their top room, guests can use their own viewing telescope to observe the lobster pots and oyster beds. The restaurant takes pride in serving fresh seafood sourced from local fisherman in the area, including lobster, crab, shell-on prawns, cockles, and oysters.

Two of us popped in one Saturday lunchtime, hoping we’d be able to get a bite to eat. Welcomed by the lady who was running both the bar and restaurant tables; who, was both welcoming and friendly (you had a small tattoo on your lower arm, I’m sorry I can’t remember your name!). We chose a table, sat for a short while until the nice lady came to take our drink order. Drinks arrived soon after and our food order was placed! Now, important to note, ‘homemade’ often means waiting longer than your usually expected time but no, our wait was very minimal, with our food served deliciously fresh and appetising. 😋😋 My ‘friend with benefits’ companion, chose a large glass of wine alongside a crayfish dish- both of which she thoroughly enjoyed. Myself, I chose the steak pie, (and a pint of real ale which was obviously well looked after before being pulled, and tasted great) which was absolutely delicious in its homemade warmed pastry case with plenty of gravy sauce included. The veggies were tasty and I’d say kind of farmhouse style in their serving, along with the mash which altogether went down perfectly!! Our plates were definitely empty when we had finished- very, very nice indeed. Would unreservedly and unequivocally recommend the White Horse; shall conclusively visit again for food and drinks Thank you Douglas Valentine

My husband and I had a rare child free night out and are both really pleased we picked The White Horse. The food was absolutely delicious, pan-fried duck & a carbonara. Followed by a menu with an array of desserts we'd have happily chosen several from. I would also mention the impeccable service we received. Being a Tuesday evening there was only one server covering the restaurant and bar and he still made time to check in on everyone. Should we ever be in the area again, we'll definitely be coming back.
