King's College Chapel

Church
Sights & Landmarks
King's College Chapel is an iconic building in Cambridge, England. The chapel is famous for its fan-vaulted ceiling and choir. Some people find the church quaint while others find it overrated. The smell of manure from nearby cows detracts from the experience for many tourists visiting Cambridge.
It was an amazing day to explore more Cambridge city. So decided to go to Kings College Chapel. Just an amazing architecture n mind blowing stain glass windows work. Spectacular ceiling work with wonderful details. I even can’t explain how I was feeling to b there. Just beautiful place to visit if ur visiting Cambridge. Worth to give it a go. Spent very short but quality time there.

Breathtaking chapel. Been local for all my life and have recently gone in. Well worth the wait. Beautiful structure. The grounds are quite something as well. Worth a visit in summer to see everything in flower.
Conor May — Google review
King's College Chapel, nestled in the heart of Cambridge, is a breathtaking architectural masterpiece that enchants travelers with its timeless beauty and historical significance. Its soaring Gothic spires and intricate stained glass windows evoke a sense of awe and wonder, offering visitors a glimpse into centuries of religious and academic tradition. The chapel's central location within the picturesque King's College campus makes it easily accessible for tourists exploring the charming city of Cambridge. Inside, visitors are treated to sublime acoustics during the chapel's renowned choral performances, adding a magical dimension to the experience. However, the chapel's popularity as a tourist attraction can lead to long queues, especially during peak seasons, which may require patience from travelers eager to explore its interior. Additionally, while entry to regular services is free, there may be admission fees for special events or concerts, which could be a consideration for budget-conscious travelers. Despite these potential drawbacks, King's College Chapel remains a must-visit destination for those seeking to immerse themselves in the rich history and architectural splendor of Cambridge.

As seen on the Christmas day service but with the live wow factor. We were treated to some organ music and a gentleman playing the harp which added to the atmosphere. The history of the chapel is fascinating and the staff were very helpful and approachable. One place I would love to go again, just to hear the choir.
Kate Reynolds — Google review
One of the oldest colleges in Cambridge with a huge history! You can enter with a ticket to visit the place where it is wonderful. There you can read about its history and admire its magnificent architecture! You must first go if you want to see all the places to be informed if you allow entry all seasons and all hours in advance. There is a period when due to exams or other events you are not allowed to enter everywhere.
Kerry Cole — Google review
Went there last week and it was very beautiful inside, particularly the fan vaulted ceiling, the choir benches and the golden organ. The side rooms were full of history about the red and white roses (Tudor dynasty, the 3 kings who built the chapel: Henry VI, Henry VII, Henry VIII), as well as the construction techniques and architecture. I lived in Cambridge since 2012 and honestly this is the second best tourist destination in Cambridge. (the first is punting)
Vincent Rainardi — Google review
The words are too small to express the grandiose architecture exposed in front of my eyes. The history of it, the perfect garden near it, the small details, perfect of this building is extreme. I surely recommend it
Ellis — Google review
Beautiful historical building with an astounding architecture. It's a good visit if you like history. The ceiling was breathtaking.
Jorge Baptista — Google review
I always say Yes to historical old buildings. It is so amazing how are built these old College Chapels etc. These old buildings are so luxurious, with lot of secrets. Maybe I don't see the reason why I need pay money to visit God house. But still was very exciting place.
Laura Minde — Google review
Undoubtedly the most iconic building in Cambridge and one of Europe's finest late Perpendicular Gothic English buildings. Indeed, the Chapel features the world's largest fan vault. The foundation stone of King’s College Chapel was laid on 25th July 1446 by King Henry VI, but was not fully complete, including some of the finest stained glass windows in the world, until 1547 under King Henry VIII. Most days the chapel opens for sightseeing at 9:30am, with final entry 3:15pm; though make sure to check in advance because this can vary. A self guided tour is £11 (or £8.50 for students or children). Well worth it for a place that literally oozes history. If you found my review interesting please leave a quick thumbs up 👍 Thank you!
Sam Saltwell — Google review
It’s astonishing especially the inside. All the details on the vaulted ceiling and the coloured glasses is breathtaking. It’s has a very nice walk as well to the Backs which you can walk across the bridge and see the punts in the water with a whole view of the Kings college and the chapel. It is a million dollar view.
Milad Sayyadi — Google review
Very interesting beautiful building. Seemed strange to be in a Chapel which was full of youngsters creating quite a bit of noise. It was actually quite refreshing. Found the information leaflet really helpful. You can buy tickets from shop opposite King's College.
Sally Smith — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking. Feels like a refreshing experience every time I walk into it. As well as the spectacular fan vault ceiling, and beautiful stained glass, some other nice things about it are definitely the organ, candlelit events/services, and, if you’re lucky, it’s heated flooring. Worth coming to visit!
Xing Yu Yi — Google review
Amazing masonry. Unbelievable that most of it has survived now than 500 years, that's what the patronage of Henry VIII meant I suppose. A couple of really interesting explanation areas, I would have perused a lot more thoroughly if alone. It seems rather expensive, but I'm glad we visited.
Ali — Google review
One cannot visit Cambridge without visiting King's College Chapel (a shop opposite sells tickets). There is a detailed exhibition of its history and a pamphlet guide. A stunning place!
Jon — Google review
Got very lucky today to have a chance to see this spectacular Chapel. King’s College Chapel is prime example of late Perpendicular Gothic English architecture. It’s the second biggest Chapel in the world and features the world's largest fan vault. Beautiful and stunning stained glass windows around whole Chapel 12 windows on each side. Window 1 - The Lamb of God and the Wedding at Cana, Window 2 - Christ and Jairus’ daughter and calling the fishermen, Window 3 - The transfiguration and Christ with the disciples, Window 4 - Lazarus and preparation for the Passover, Window 5 - The last supper and its Old Testament antecedent, manna in the desert, Window 6 - The Light of the World, Window 7 - The Bread of Life, Window 8 - The Lamb of God, Window 9 - Christ of Revelation, Window 10 - The Good Shepherd, Window 11 - Jesus appears to his disciples, Window 12 - The Ascension of Christ and Elijah etc. Peaceful and magnificent chapel where you can come to enjoy the beauty of the place itself and have time to think about life and merge with the wonderful atmosphere. If you get luck you can attend the chapel when they have their own choir singing.
Indy Ro — Google review
The second biggest chapel in the world and incredibly beautiful as well. It's kept in perfect shape, the history behind it is really interesting and the tour guides will tell you everything there is to know about this masterpiece.
Francesco Marchini — Google review
Fantastic place to visit. Amazing architecture to look at and wonder at the skills of the craftsmen that took so long to build it. 30 years for the stained glass windows to give you some idea. Then walk down to the Cam via the backs.
Andrew Woods — Google review
The cathedral boasts impressive and unusual architecture, especially notable in the design of its ceiling. The informational displays in the side areas are well-prepared and intriguing, offering insights into the cathedral's history and significance. Visitors will appreciate the availability of flyers in many different languages, catering to an international audience. Additionally, the surrounding garden area is beautifully maintained, providing a serene setting for a short stroll. The price is a bit high.

This museum is home to a vast collection of artifacts from different cultures, including art from Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. It's one of the most popular museums in Cambridge, and its galleries are filled with famous paintings by such artists as Hogarth, Gainsborough, and Turner. The museum also has a wide range of historical artefacts from medieval manuscripts to ancient Egyptian and Roman antiquities.
Absolutely excellent museum. Came on the bank Holiday to see the Hockney exhibition. It has been spaced out throughout the museum so you get to see more. Really great exhibits on offer and extremely well presented. Free entry, very nice gift shop. Toilets in basement.

Excellent Cambridge museum. The current exhibition: Islanders The Making of the Mediterranean - which runs until 4 June - is spellbinding. It spans thousands of years, from neolithic Crete to Roman period Sardinia and includes an object that is 9,000 years old. The exhibition is free is free to enter but a ticket is required. The museum's permanent collection is also amazing; I particularly like the ceramic pieces that are on display.

Worth to visit this beautiful museum which is holding historical stuff from all over the world. It’s free and in centre location of Cambridge city. Building itself is a beautiful architecture. Not big as London Museum but still offering a lot from all over the world specially Egyptian, Greek, Roman etc which is spreading different time period.

The most beautiful museum and feels a bit like British museum from the outside. Highly recommended to visit once in a lifetime. Entry is free so check out this place. I love visiting museums 😇

We visited the Fitzwilliam on a Thursday morning, having pre-booked free entry. I've visited many museums but I think this might be one of the most fascinating smaller collections I've seen. In May 2022, they cleverly juxtaposed David Hockney's exhibition pieces alongside permanent and older work that resembled them, it was very well done. Highly recommend when in Cambridge.

Loved this museum. From medieval armors and weapons to ancient Roman Empire or even Egypt. The collection is superb and worths your time to pay it a visit. When you want to take a break there is a coffee/tea shop near the souvenirs. I really enjoyed my time here and definitely I'll return as I didn't had enough time to explore it properly.
Raul Gavris — Google review
The museum is definitely worth a visit! A great place with an impressive number of paintings and antiques from Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Unique collections of famous artists, interesting artifacts, sculptures, porcelain, armour. Everyone will find something for themselves! Admission to the Museum is free!

An enormous range of artworks, some especially famous ones such as Monet's. Great selection of flower still lifes, along with religious artworks. Art is sorted by country of origin. There is a gigantic collection of ceramics, varying in age. The gift shop is large and quite good, there is also a café.

Lovely well maintained museum. Plenty to see. Cafe was average price but delicious cakes and coffee. Toilets on site were clean. Well done Fitzwilliam museum. If in Cambridge, you must take time to visit, and it's free entry.

One of the must visit places in Cambridge! It is like a small version of the British Museum but less crowded, so you can feel free to explore around and admire all the exhibitions here. Better expected spending 1-2hrs to visit here

One of the best museums in Cambridge. The entrance architecture is stunning as it is inspired by ancient Greek temples. Lots of paintings, historical weapons, statues, and objects. The entrance is free of charge and you get to see a lot of things, a must-stop when visiting Cambridge.

Nice Museum to visit, my son wanted to see the Egyptian items. You could spend a couple of hours walking around looking at the interesting artifacts. You have to book your tickets online before you go. Its free to visit or you can make a donation if you like.

Beautiful museum, which is definitely worth a visit! It's free and there are also a gift shop and a cafe. There is a lot to see, so you would need a few hours to see all the galleries. You can see art from all over the world and you can see artefacts from different time periods. There are sections dedicated to Egyptian, Greek and Roman history, just to name a few.

Excellent museum. Free entry to permanent exhibitions. Or did I walk in unnoticed? Grand building. Parking nearby not cheap but worth a visit or several. Lots of pottery and trinkets but some great art. Handy cafe. Affable varied staff appear everywhere. Blake exhibition to pay to see at this time. But had to pick up someone at Cambridge North.

Most impressive entrance hall. Vast collection of very cool items. Love the Egyptian rooms and the Armour section. Very good cafe and gift shop. Bus stops right outside.

It was such a beautiful experience at the Fitzwilliam Museum. Although most of the art works are appreciated by just viewing and not touching, they’re still worth viewing. The entire museum is really big and the facilities are also good. It’s a very picturesque place, has a disability entrance as well. There’s also a table with supplies to draw and paint. Helpful assistants as well. We appreciated the moment.

One of the best museums in Cambridge if you are on a quick day trip (as ours were unexpected). We entered without a ticket,as it's only until January I guess. The paintings were fascinating. Much to see about Egyptian culture and sculptures. Not sure about the European potteries, didn't feel authentic. PS: do not fell for the shop and cafe, overpriced, you can get most of them around Cambridge City for less

The Backs is a tranquil green space and park located behind the grand facades of some of Cambridge's most prestigious colleges. The picturesque grounds offer stunning views of the colleges, as well as a variety of paths and bridges for walking or enjoying boating on the river.
One of the must do things in Cambridge is to go Punting along The Backs in Cambridge! I recommend booking online with Scudamore’s for this.
Leif Moore — Google review
Attractive small park area, home to one of the most iconic views in Cambridge. The magnificent buildings of King's College dominate the scene looking across the river, while punts travel past in the foreground. At the time of my visit in early April, the wooded area was carpeted with blue and white flowers, lending it a natural feel that contrasts well with the surrounding architecture. The paths are well maintained and the area kept spotlessly clean. A short walk across Garret Hostel Bridge from the city center, The Backs is a must-see location for visitors to Cambridge. Paid parking is available by the side of Queen's Road for up to 4 hours.

I was looking for a park to have a lovely scroll, the weather was not the best, but it was lovely anyway, nice views and plenty pathways to explore.
Indy Ro — Google review
How disappointing. You can only see the best of Cambridge from The Backs and to do that you have to be in a punt as the banks are privately owned and are therefore inaccessible. As we're both nearing 80 we did not want to go in a punt!

Astonishing place with punting through the river across the worlds famous colleges. It's ultimately an excellence of science considering those big names.

It rivals Venice, which I’ve visited twice. No punters fell in the water today, unlike my last visit. Unlike Venice, I couldn’t get access to Bridge of Sighs, due to access closed off.

First time visit to the Backs. Amazing views across to the college's, particularly Kings College and the chapel. So much history right in front of you, and loads of photo opportunities! We were lucky enough to be invited to join some friends for a punt along the river, and what a great way to spend an evening! Well worth a visit to the area, and the parking on Queens Road is free after five, so you can catch the setting sun lighting up Kings College and the chapel.

If fine wines are your thing, then you'll love the wine tasting at the Cambridgeshire Wine School. This lively evening will introduce you to different types of wine from around the world, and make some great new friends in the process. Choose evenings dedicated to Italian tipples, South American or Portuguese recipes. With Mark as your instructor, you'll learn everything there is to know about wine drinking and its production - in an easy-to-understand and thoroughly enjoyable way.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Level 2 course. Mark was patient at answering any questions we had and although I have enjoyed wine for many years I genuinely feel I now understand it so much better! It's also opened my curiosity (and courage) to experimenting with lots of wines that were never on my radar before. Thank you Mark - it was excellent.
Douglas Brawley — Google review
My wife and I, along with some local friends attended a group of sessions focusing on the differences between cheap, moderate and more expensive wines. Served semi-blind, we had to guess which was which. Not always easy! Mark's presentation style was very relaxed yet informative and well-supported with slides and videos. He managed to provide interest to those with no wine tasting experience up to those who already have a lot of wine knowledge. Everyone seemed to have a really good time, and interactions between the attendees added extra enjoyment. We'll be back. Highly recommended!
Alex Lake — Google review
A very relaxing, entertaining and educational day which I thoroughly enjoyed. Mark has a warm, thoroughly engaging manner who gently guides you through the nuances of the various wines but without any air of pretension! A lovely day. We’ll be back.

We were bought an ‘Introduction to Wine by Grape’, a three-part evening class at Cambridgeshire Wine School for my husband’s birthday. It was such an enjoyable experience. It certainly got us through the doldrums of the January blues, the Ukraine War, the NHS in crisis and economic gloom! I hope we are not shallow people! We looked forward to our Tuesday night sessions. We were introduced to a wide variety of wines and educated about the grapes by our host, Mark. He managed to draw even the shyest of us out of our shells with his well-placed questions. He was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining and charming. The group was small and informal. By the end of the three weeks, we all felt like good friends. I would highly recommend this course for both beginners to wine tasting and those who have some knowledge of wines already.
Elizabeth McCaul — Google review
You don't just taste wine. You learn so much more than names of the wines. It's a history lesson, it's a geography lesson, it's a lesson on how to focus your attention to what you smell and taste. Mark's step-by-step guidance during the taster sessions are invaluable.
Jasmine Hovsepyan — Google review
My friend and l had a great time at the Venetian Bar, tasting and learning about Champagne, Prosecco and Cava. The talk was very entertaining and Mark has a wealth of knowledge and anecdotes to impart. The evening was made even more special when my friend took on the challenge of removing a champagne cork with a sword. All in all good valve for a superb evening. Jan Walker

I've done many wine tasting around the world but this season put so much into context and made sense. Tastes, locations and why matching cheese or other foods improves the moment. We even tried a conflicting combination, it tasted terrible. Avoid brie cheese!
Charles Macfarlane — Google review
I thoroughly enjoyed the course, Mark who conducted it is extremely knowledgeable, but makes what seems to be quite a deep subject very easy to understand and a lot of fun with his easygoing nature and humour, he has given me a better understanding of the wine I drink and the work and expertise that goes into making it. I would most definitely take part in another ,course conducted by Mark, without any hesitation. A brilliant and fun day, highly recommended.

Had an amazing evening of wine and cheese tasting at the 50/60 Lounge in Cambridge, Mark is a very experienced and knowledgeable taster and I have learnt so much not only about wine and food pairings, but also about how these are influenced by the vinification process and geographical origin of the grapes. All the information was delivered in a precise and technical language while also keeping a down-to-earth tone that never made a minute of the class feel boring! I highly recommend Cambridgeshire Wine School to everyone interested in understanding more what goes behind an excellent cheese and wine pairing.

The 8 week introductory wine tasting course is a thoroughly enjoyable experience and a great way to learn the basics of wine tasting and appreciation presented in a very friendly, social atmosphere by our extremely knowledgeable host.
John Offord — Google review
I ve always shunned cheese and wine events because if the truth be told, I don’t like wine much (okay, it’s effect is acceptable enough). I have fairly recently developed a passion for cheeses so I thought this would be worth a go for at least 50% of the sustenance on offer. Mark made this event very pleasant indeed. The education was interesting and fun. Infotainment at its mouth swirling best. The dialogue accompanying the chewing and the sipping and flavour mingling was excellent. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Better than I expected even if I repeatedly found that the cheese simply rendered the wine less unpleasant!! Would I go again? Yes! With more cheese and crackers to accompany the wine!

Would definitely recommend these events. We went to the Italian wine tasting day. The setting in the Cambridge college and lunch was fantastic. Our wine tasting day was absolutely brilliant. Mark is an excellent teacher. He is down to earth and entertaining and there was no pressure to have any prior knowledge. The wines were great, and together with a lovely lunch, it made for a very enjoyable day. I would thoroughly recommend it.

We attended the Taste of Italy Saturday course at Madingly Hall and had such a great day. As well as tasting 13 different wines we learnt an enormous amount about the Italian wine industry and various classifications which was fascinating. During the tasting Mark always encouraged us to form and share our own opinions on the smell and taste before sharing his, which I think is the best way. Mark was very approachable and only too happy to answer any question we put to him, and I am certainly thinking about doing another class in the future. The venue itself is also great. It’s a beautiful place and there is plenty of history to investigate should you wish to. Overall, a great experience.

I bought tickets for a days wine tasting for my husbands birthday and it was certainly a treat, and we learned quite a lot too. This is an independent tasting so no particular wine to promote, and Mark has done a good job researching his wines and gives details of cost and where it can be bought from which is really useful.

What an afternoon we had at the Cambridge gin laboratory. The experience from start to finish was top notch from learning about the gin making process, hearing about the history and a little bit of banter. If you like gin this is a fun afternoon. The experience is an hour long, we made our own bottle after and had a chance to chat with other like minded people. They offer a few drinks along the way which certainly helps get the conversation going. The host was funny and knowledgeable making the whole experience pleasant.

My son and I did the ‘Make It’ experience which he had gifted me. It was a fantastic hour plus of fun, information and LOTS of gin! Great value for money with the option of taking home a bottle of your creation assuming it’s drinkable! Max, our host, was full of nuggets of gin related trivia - and not so trivial and ran the afternoon with humour and prowess. You could also sample some of the gins they make. Other experiences are also on offer - or you can just mooch around their shop, chat to the lovely staff and buy a bottle of their delicious and vibrant gin.

In my opinion one of the best experiences in Cambridge, fun, engaging, bit of science and plenty of gin. My worry was that my partner might get bored with the science (didn’t happen) or not like dry gin but they teach you to flavour the gin to your taste sweet / bitter. All round an awesome night thank you

We did a cocktail mixing course here and it was so much fun! The mix it course is about an hour long and the whole setup is really classy looking and an overall great value experience. We each made three cocktails: a classic gin and tonic, a gin martini, and a gin basil smash (which was our favourite cocktail of the three). We learned about the distillery and the different tools and techniques for cocktail making. I would definitely recommend to anyone!

We chose "Taste It". Had a fun Sunday afternoon learning the history of gin, and how to understand its different elements. A great way to sample some locally brewed gin. Would recommend it highly. Helen was super enthusiastic and patient, especially given the heat. Had answers to all our questions and went out of her way to make it a fun experience for us!

Terrific Mix Your Own class with Jamie today! We learned a lot and crafted our own gin during the hour class. Highly recommend to anyone who likes gin and is interested in learning more about spirits! Wish we had more time to take the other classes!

Fantastic experience with Claudia and Jenna. The business is very well decorated and clean. We made our own gin and I feel like the value for this experience was right on point .Definitely telling our local friends about this place. We hope to visit again when we come back to England!

Midsummer House is a Michelin starred fine dining restaurant in Cambridgeshire, England, that serves elegant French meals at smart tables in a conservatory. The restaurant has been praised by serious gastronomes for its delicious and inventive food.
An amazing experience from start to finish. We were gifted a voucher for my partner’s 40th birthday so chose the tasting menu during lunch service. A truly sensational range of dishes and creativity. The standard of service was impeccable and we were made to feel looked after but not too fussed over. Would recommend for foodies who want to treat themselves to an afternoon of luxury!

We had the best experience at Midsummer house! Very cosy environment and incredible food! All dishes were pieces of art. Highly recommended for birthdays, anniversaries, and more! It's definitely worth it. We noticed that the entrance to the restaurant is not where Google maps shows. The entrance is not from the river side.

Me and my Dad had an amazing meal here together. Probably the best we've had together. It is very expensive, even compared to other two stars and some three but in my opinion very much worth it for the food. The service additionally was fantastic I suppose the wine pairing seemed over priced if I am to be critical. The Sommelier was engaging, fun and knowledgeable but some of the wines themselves although delicious, didn't seem so worth the money. This is shadowed by the 5 star experience and we were happy to pay (next time though we may purchase a bottle or two instead though).

An absolutely gorgeous gem nestled on the side of the Cam. A special treat dinner was everything we hoped it would be and more. Literally everything and everybody on point from start to finish. Wonderful.

Visited for my boyfriends, mums 70th. We had a great time. The food was obviously delicious, and the service was great. The staff were happy to take themselves not too seriously. Only criticism was that some of the servers spoke very quietly, which was tricky for those of us without perfect hearing.

An absolute privilege to finally eat here. The ambience of the restaurant is outstanding. The food was the best all 4 of us have ever tasted and the wine pairing was remarkable. All the staff were superb but special mention must go to the Somelier whose knowledge was remarkable and to Molly a charming and warm human being. Thank you Daniel and all your staff for an experience all 4 of us will remember forever 👏👏

Such a fantastic evening! Thanks to the whole team, front of house and back, for an incredible dining and culinary experience. The food was creative, innovative and attractive. The flavours were divine and every member of staff treated us beautifully. Thanks again!

Fabulous taster menu, about 18 courses that were perfectly balanced to avoid any feelings of overload. We had the 'cheaper' wine pairing and each was seriously good. It ranks as one of the finest dining experiences ever, every course was sublime. There were 5 of us in the private dining room and I think others may find it a bit atmospherically cold, thankfully we're a reasonably lively, not rowdy, group and it was fine. Arthur, our waiter and sommelier, was a triumph. Very expensive but when you see the detail in every course you understand why. A magnificent treat.

Amazing as usual. Cambridge’s local Michelin is well worth dining at at least once in your life. If you haven’t dined here you’re missing out! Well worth the cost. Ambience is perfect — quiet and comfortable. Nice for a date or business meeting. Favorite dish is their constant — the apple shaped beignets are to die for. Also their gift bag carrot cake…

midsummer_house is a 2 Michelin star Victoria era river side cottage in the heart of Cambridge. Serving some incredibly beautiful French meals. It was the best culinary experience I have ever had in my life and I would recommend going if you have a special occasion coming up as it’s on the pricier side but it is worth every penny. We later slipped into the lounge area with some spectacular views of the River Cam and was given the absolute honour of looking behind the scenes in the kitchen! Absolutely unforgettable experience! 😍🤩

We enjoyed a culinary symphony at Midsummer House. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The nature-inspired presentations were works of art, and the thoughtful wine selections only elevated the dining experience. We'd love to return every season and get inspired. Thank you for such a delightful experience and the sourdough ;-)

The waiting staff have us stellar service. They are very knowledgeable and caring, and make it look like a very relaxed environment. The chefs are quick to serve food and they execute it to perfection. The food presentation is amazing and food taste is so good I cannot find appropriate words to describe it. Separate components of the dish and they altogether sing perfectly in the mouth. The place is lovely and I enjoyed watching birds.

The Mill is a rustic pub located in delightful riverside setting, serving up cask ales, craft beer and hearty food. The menu features traditional favourites with a twist, cooked fresh with care. This popular pub is huge hit with locals and tourists alike for its prime location, cosy atmosphere and delicious food.
We did a little stop at Cambridge for a Sunday roast with my family whilst travelling back to london and we were lucky enough to try The Mill. The pub is really atmospheric, ideal for a little walk by the river. The food was truly exceptional. I had one of the best roasts ever! We highly recommend this place.

I’ll recommend skipping food, though the pub itself is cozy and dog friendly. One of the stars goes to a customer’s puppy. Very very slow service. We waited for an hour for chips and sausages and a pie. The kitchen is busy with a big group they say… I could have come next time if they told me honestly when we were ordering food. But no warning at all. With the time I might be able to bring the ingredients home and cook and bring them back 🙃 The man taking order is confused with the menu and order. The lady said she’ll check with the kitchen but never came back. I was told the steak pie was not available after putting down order — what a disappointment. Chicken and ham hock and leek pie is mediocre at most. The crust is too hard. I felt it’s going wrong when I poke my knife into it. The knife failed to break through top, twice. The filling is alright, creamy but not too heavy, though I’d prefer more substantial leek. The mash is nice and not too oily. The potato skin is quite burnt and sad. The gorgozonla unexpectedly came in a liquid form. The sweet potato wrongly ordered, but they are not bad.

Pub on the river, atmospheric. Great to see a vinyl record player knocking out the tunes. Good range of beers including Adnams. Bar meals, fish and chips burgers. Indoor seating for around 20. I would return again cosy, comfortable and good service

A real fan of this riverside pub in the heart of Cambridge. It's pretty compact inside and you might have to wait for a table at busy times but tables turn quite quickly here so you won't have to wait too long. For real ale fans there is a great selection of beers from regular to craft..more than you can shake a stick at! Quality food menu with everything from Caesar salad to Jerk Chicken, all well cooked and given how busy it was delivered to the table quickly. It's dog friendly inside too! On a warm day the drinking area extends beyond the bridge and onto the grass outside, so pack a picnic blanket if that weather's good!!

Booked a table to eat there on a Friday evening before going to a concert. The table wasn't ready when I arrived at the booked time so I had to wait at the bar while a table was prepared. The menu was much shorter than the sample menu on the website and contained only 4 mains, three of which were types of burger. I ordered a chicken burger (£14), which seemed to be a high quality burger with real (unprocessed) chicken and a good breadcrumb coating, but unfortunately it had been overcooked to a burnt crisp, and was barely edible. They have a good selection of beers and the barmen were fine.

Small pub with limited food menu (but tasty). No real ciders when we visited. Good for quick lunch next to river but disappointingly small view of it. Lovely spot though. Very helpful landlord explained our route.
Pat ?Ashtoshy? Boardman — Google review
Lovely location. But food was very disappointing - bread for sandwiches was so dry and hard, halloumi fries over cooked. Girl at bar needed reminding that one meal was for coeliac. Staff lacked any kind of personality or even a smile. Was expecting it to be much nicer than it was.

Well. It has been almost a year. And with expectations set high I brought 3 family members to sample the Sunday roast. And The Mill did not disappoint. Coping well with our requests. The Mill is a customer orientated pub. The roast beef with the veg and sides was superlative. And what is it about The Mill gravy? It is something special. We were very happy with the service and the food. This is a real Cambridge Town pub. There is nothing like it. As to the menu: There is something for every age and persuasion. Glad we came back. Keep doing what you are doing. See you soon.

This is a really cute pub by the water. Lots of character and very busy. They have a record player where you can select an LP and change the music yourself. The prices are okay, but the food experience overall was poor. Unfortunately over cooked and dry - chicken wings and halloumi fried. The chips and mac & cheese bites were okay though. I would visit again the atmosphere is nice, but would not order food there.

Restaurant 22 is a Michelin starred restaurant in the heart of Cambridge. The contemporary British dishes on their fixed-price monthly menu are inspired by the top restaurants in the country. With beautiful stained glass windows and an elegant Victorian setting, Restaurant 22 is perfect for a romantic lunch or dinner.
I took my fiancé to R22 for his birthday lunch. We had the vegetarian tasting menu which he paired with soft drinks and I paired the the wine. This was a great idea, as there were quite a few courses and quite a bit of wine. The soft drinks were also well paired for the meal with interesting flavours. The whole experience took around three hours. The staff were friendly and attentive and explained each dish. Each dish was presented beautiful and was delicious. If you are prepared to spend the ££££, R22 is highly recommended.

My wife took me to here as a surprise to enjoy the short tasting menu with paired drinks, and indeed, what an amazing surprise it was! Understated and demure, we went without expectation and were really moved by the whole experience. The personable nature of the staff who all had their individual personalities added to the experience. The food was an amazing treat and gives Cambridgeshire's best an amazing challenge. The descriptions, flavours and presentations are something else. Thank you to the team for making this pre-Christmas experience so special. Attention to detail, great service, unforgettable flavours and textures...Restaurant Twenty Two is a must for genuine fine dining in Cambridgeshire.

My partner brought me here for a special lunch. The full tasting menu and wine pairing was absolutely divine. The perfect amount of food; we didn’t leave too full or hungry. We each had different dish favourites though they were all divine in different ways! The cocktails we had whilst eating the initial snacks (Negroni and espresso martini) were incredible. Fantastic service too.
Ashleigh Dueker — Google review
I had a full course dinner menu at the Cambridge Michelin restaurant, which was quite impressive. I did not expect to be stuffed at a Michelin restaurant given my large appetite… We started off the taste journey with a bite size warm cheese tart, topped with shredded Parmesan. Among the three snacks, my favorite was the rabbit course, which was exquisitely prepared with complex flavors. Featuring a thin, crispy coating with the wild taste of rabbit meat preserved just right. The pre-meal bread was a pleasant surprise and one of the reasons my friend revisited. I'm not usually interested in flaky bread, but the bread itself was moist but not greasy, and I was surprised by its warm feel, easily crumbled crust, and perfectly structured air pockets. Among the three kinds of butter, my favorite was the fermented yeast, which had an unexpected taste of miso. Followed by a custard mushroom soup, the custard was different from the Asian style, resembling cream added, with a garnish of black truffle aroma, overall not bad. The three main courses were pork belly, codfish, and beef. The pork belly was fatty but balanced well with an aggressive sauce similar to "scallion oil"; the final steak was thoughtful, with butter used in a layered potato, the beef tongue and steak were slow-fried, and the bone marrow was stewed into a sauce. However, the codfish was a bit disappointing, although the fish was tender from low-temperature slow cooking, the sauce lacked surprise. The transition before the dessert was clever, with a grapefruit sorbet parfait and lemon jelly making a refreshing, grease-cutting ice cream sandwich. However, the actual dessert was somewhat too heavy, with the caramel almost reaching the viscosity of toffee, overpowering the bitterness of the chocolate itself, which, as a chocolate lover, I only managed to finish with difficulty. Overall, it was delicious, but I feel this menu was not well-balanced between dishes, starting from the very first appetizer, giving a strong sensory impact and easily becoming too rich.

Absolutely outstanding. I knew of this restaurant years ago under the previous owners when I couldn't belie how good the food was for the price. The new owners have taken this to the next level though. The menu was delightful, the cooking sublime and the service excellent. Particular highlights were all of the amuse bouche, which were fantastic and the wine pairing with information from the sommelier for each glass. The decore is minimalist but comfortable and the atmosphere incredibly intimate. It can't be long until this place earns it's first michelin star. Having been to midsummer house just across the river a number of times, there's really very little separating the two

The most incredible meal I have ever had! SERIOUSLY! I don't even know where to start to describe it. From the first bite to the last each and every dish was bursting with harmonious flavour. I ate ingredients that I would normally despise and even heard a grown man from another table ask for alterations because he 'didn't like' certain ingredients.. he truly missed out! The service is 5 star, all staff were amazing and super helpful. Whatever the occasion, book the dam table and eat here because there is no way you will regret it.

Solid 5-star. Totally enjoyed the lunch menu and looking forward to bringing my family and friends here! This is going to be no. 1 place for treating important guests (Might sneak back on my own for some a weekday treat too <3) Literally everything is fantastic. Thoughtful but not ostentatious creations with local produces. Parmesan snack with roasted pumpkin seeds. Warm, gooey, cheesy. A beautiful starting point. The green asparagus custard with ham and aerated white asparagus foam really encapsulates the spring. Herbal and full of umami, it has a light texture like Asian steamed egg. Bread arrives as a laminated brioche, which looks like a denser croissant. A little guilty, but delicious. Beautifully layered and buttery. The butter is milky, but the chicken liver pate is the absolute queen on the bread. Smooth, creamy, flavorful but not too heavy even on top of that flaky bun. Cured and seared cod, covered lemon dill and in mustard hollandaise. I was worried it could be too overpowering, but it is alright. Still extra for me and reminds me of my college kitchen. Crispy kale is lovely and the radish is refreshing. The cod itself is plump and tender. 8/10 Prime cut of beef in slow cooked in water bath. The beautiful pink piece is deliciously seasoned and tender. The bottom piece tastes like red braised and contains a melting chunk of tendon. Morel mushrooms are pickled and slightly sour, zingy. The Great Abington asparagus is gigantic in size but delicate in taste. Red wine and garlic sauce has capers, ham, and mustard in it and offers complex flavors. Also enjoyed the celeriac purée which goes well with the steak. The plating is so elegant and not pretentious at all. 10/10 Absolutely love the dessert. The best finishing course among my recent years’ dining experiences (excluding my tiramisu hunts)! Again a fine balance between taste and creativity. Frangipane sponge, crumbly and light. Chocolate mousse. Naturally sweet Banana jam. Hazelnut mousse. A small scoop of salted milk ice cream, delightfully savory and cooling. Shortbread and mushroom crumbs. Banana stick. Not trying to be extravagant but everything combines harmoniously to present extraordinary finale. ❤️ And thankfully it’s not too sweet at all— surprisingly, the dark chocolate dome and the ripe banana core may be the sweetest part. Heard it’s new to the menu. Please keep it 🥹 100/10 The little space is cozy and has the charm of sitting in a loving family home. The second floor is intimate with lovely drawings. Service is super warm, attentive but not intrusive. And the courses come one after another in an efficient pace. Eat slower and enjoy ;) Congratulations to the chef and team on the well-deserved Michelin star.

What can I say that's not already been said? Use any superlative you can think of and then some. Tucked away in a rather "blink and you'll miss it" victorian townhouse is this superb restaurant. Lorry driver & cleaner made to feel like millionaire lottery winners. Been lucky enough to have dined at a couple of Michelin star restaurants but always felt the urge to "let's have a burger" afterwards. Not here though, oh, no. Left fully appetite satisfied. Best Sauvingnon blanc we've had and by restaurant prices, a good price. (Had two, and we're from Yorkshire!) It was wife's birthday and also our wedding anniversary and she was skeptical about paying so much for a meal. Changed her mind afterwards. Money we'll spent.

I would like to thank the entire team for making the evening very special. I still see & remember the visit as it was yesterday and in reality it's almost to 2 weeks. Your michelin star is well deserved. From the beginning till the end everything was perfect. My special thank you goes to Bethany. Thank you for taking me with you to the journey of sommelier. Parker's Tavern is a British classic restaurant with an afternoon tea and cocktail bar. The interior is stylish with high prices, but the expertly crafted cocktails are what make this spot worth visiting in Cambridge.
I came here for afternoon tea to celebrate Mother's Day and it was excellent! There was a little bit of a wait while they found our reservation but the staff were very kind and attentive. There was a decent selection of teas to choose from and the free from menu (offering gluten free, dairy free and/or vegan) looked just as good as the regular! The portions were generous (though there could have been more cream and jam) and the servers topped up our tea several times. All of the cakes and sandwiches were really tasty! I loved that the afternoon tea was Winnie The Pooh themed and I will definitely be returning to see what seasonal menus they come up with in the future. Would definitely recommend.

On a busy hot summer's day this is a brilliant place to get a taste of calm and a long cool drink. The smartly dressed bar staff can make any drink you have ever heard of and many that you have never heard of. It's not cheap as I discovered, a mandatory service charge is included. Free bar snacks was a nice touch.

The rib eye steak with oyster mushrooms was excellent. It came with a chimichuri sauce too. We were rather excited by the sweet shop sundae desert which included seasonal/festive jelly sweets. I did order a coffee which I think was forgotten as we waited an extremely long time fot it. This dampened my overall experience alongside a small portion of the crab starter. It was rather lacking on the crab meat I'd say. Judge for yourself by the photo... We had a very enjoyable meal overall. The service was great. Would I come back. Yes.

Had a lovely Festive Afternoon Tea at Parker's Tavern on New Year's Eve. The afternoon tea is in the Library, which is nice since it's a quieter and cozier space than the main restaurant. 4.5 stars. I loved my steak, it was really well seasoned; the chips and tartare sauce were also really good. However, my friend who ordered the lamb was fairly unhappy with the size of the portion, although also good in taste. The friend who ordered the risotto was fairly happy with it, although it was a starter. All in all, if you are hungry, go for a steak!

I've been in this restaurant several times because I liked the food and atmosphere. However the last time I also went to the SPA for a massage, with a friend. We both agreed it was dull and we wouldn't go back, but then we decided to go for what it became a dangerous lunch in which I thought I broke a tooth. We ordered the crab for starter, shame that I didn't know mine had a big piece of hard shell, and when unknowingly I crunched on it, I felt immediate pain and worried my tooth was cracked. I reported the situation immediately to the staff, including the Manager and they took the shell away as they were going to "investigate" the incident. They also asked my details but I've never heard from them since (thei happened in October). They removed £10 from the bill (yeah, they still charged me for it, despite what happened) and then I had to pay £59 to go to the dentist because of that incident. I won't go back after this as I have been really disappointed by their poor service as well as the food. Update: since posting this review I've been contacted by the new Manager who very kindly listened to my concerns and resolved the situation. I will be happy to go again to the restaurant (not the SPA) in the future as he showed excellent management skills.

I took my friends for afternoon tea here mainly for the location and decor. It mostly met my expectations with nice food (not wow-level but seems trustworthy for future visits), decent tea selection, and friendly service. Sweet potato avocado sandwich is an interesting combination. Surprisingly savory, with a hint of curry, and beautifully smooth. Love the smoky salmon mousse and the cheese and onion quiche, which isn’t solid like egg quiche and is so creamy. The freshly baked scones are lovely. Warm, crusty on the outside, and moist inside. They are more eggy, bread-like, denser than my other favorite ones, but tastes good too. Fruit scones are slightly smaller. A nice balanced hint of cinnamon and not too sweet (only two or three pieces of raisins on the top but good enough for me). The sweet deck… a balance between aesthetics and taste. Duke of Cambridge tart is savory-sweet and quite good. The lemon drizzle cake is quite pleasant. Vegan scone tastes a little like burnt coconut/sesame/milk powder. Not bad but we were intrigued. Lapsang Souchong is really smoky. Masala Chai is delicately spiced. Rooibos Orange breakfast is very fruity. Bottomless tea is a nice plus, as the sandwiches and desserts are a little less tempting to be re-ordered. Service is warm and friendly. The decor is beautiful, but somehow the smooth jazz-ish background music doesn’t fit the ambience. Some classier jazz or classic music would work better. Overall it’s a 4.4 for me, worth the price and I’d recommend it if you have to have one in Cambridge.

Really enjoyed the food here. Great atmosphere and clean. One of the better burger (not pictured) I have had in a while in the years I’ve gone to the UK. Probably the closest to an American Burger I have had in the UK.

Good pub with knowledgable staff that seem to care about what they are serving. A good idea to reserve a table if you’re planning to eat. Interesting food selection and good beers. Egyptian Cream is delish.

Lex went on a work trip to UK & Europe: dinner at @pint_shop - a gastro pub. Overall a good experience. . Scotch eggs: nice soft boiled egg inside, and not too greasy. Good classic British dish! . Fried chicken wings: can't go wrong with chicken wings! . Overnight pork belly with sourdough and sausage stuffing, gravy, and apple sauce: the pork was tender, but the skin was not crispy. Would have been nicer if there was crackling 😜😜.

Delicious Sunday roasts and an interesting selection of rums. The starters were great also (croquettes and chicken wings). We’ll come back next time we’re in Cambridge 😍

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Our waiter/ beer connoisseur, was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was delicious- would recommend the goats cheese and the babaganoush! Will come again, thank you.

Tried my first scotch egg and it was surprisingly delicious, unfortunately that's all the good news I have about this place. We pre-booked a table, arrived on time and waited an hour for our Sunday pork roast which came out lukewarm at best and was cold before I even got halfway through the meal. Others that arrived after us received the same meals before us. Understand it must be a busy time but we had a very poor experience.

Really lovely staff, nice and clean and pleasant atmosphere. However, I was pretty disappointed by the food despite it looking great. I had the chicken version of the famous kebabs and unfortunately I just really didn’t like it. The chicken tasted great and the flatbreads were also delicious. However, the Moroccan sweet chilli sauce was quite bitter and overpowered everything, apart from the mint which was also a bit much. £18 also felt a bit steep for what was really a relatively small portion of chicken, salad and bread. The chips were properly great! But again, we’re a bit steeply priced for quite a small portion.

Tucked away, the Pint Shop offers a delightful retreat to sip on a pint in their serene garden setting. The star attraction? Their top-notch scotch egg. And for those craving a side of indulgence, the dirty fries stand as the epitome of guilty pleasures.

Went for a Sunday roast with a friend, both had the beef and both thoroughly enjoyed it! Really well seasoned food and the meat was cooked so well. Can also highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding, so much sauce and a huge portion!

I don,t normally leave negative feedback but this is an exception. We had Sunday lunch here today and to be honest it was the worst I have ever had, some things were over cooked but the beef was still alive. I left my dinner has I couldn’t eat it, and exchanged it for chicken and chips. An improvement but nothing too exciting. I was really disappointed after reading the rave reviews. The reviews were the reason I booked a table here. I have only praise for the staff, they were excellent and very understanding, they are the only reason I gave any stars.

Lovely meal. We had Jamaican jerk chicken and whole bream for mains. Delicious. Nice ambience and service. Definitely worth another visit.

We called in for a few pre-show drinks, as it's conveniently located near the Corn Exchange. Fantastic variety of draft beers and ciders. The place had a good atmosphere, with various places to sit. We didn't have food, but the menu and snacks on the bar all looked good.

Nice spot for a drink. IPA was great! Service was good too but unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. The vegetarian roast dinner was foul - the fake meat was practically inedible. It was awful and I only had a few bites. The vegetables were limp and lacked seasoning, the Yorkshire pudding was like an ash cloud. I’m not sure how this place has such high reviews. Great spot for a drink but I would avoid the food at all costs.

The best place for beer in Cambridge by far. They normally have 17 or so keg beers, 6 or more cask beers, cider on tap as well as an extensive gin and whisky menu. They do bar snacks (highly recommend the scotch egg) and sit down meals in dedicated restaurant areas. The Sunday roast is well worth booking. There's also outside seating at the back which is easily missed (go left at the stairs and follow the corridor).

#SCOTCH EGG FAN 🥚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 📍Cambridge, UK ⭐️ 3.5/5 💸 ££ 🍴Today, we changed our usual foodie setting and visited #Cambridge. After conducting some research and asking around, we chose @pint_shop as our lunch stop. The place is a true gem of the city! It offers a modern space with traditional, delicious food. We decided to try their beautiful new autumn Scotch #egg, paired with cranberry & pear jam, and topped with a sprinkle of mustard seeds 🤤 We also ordered their special Overnight #Pork Belly with roasted Garlic & Thyme Mash (10/10!) 🍖 and their House Burger with double Beef Patty, Ogleshield Cheese, and House Chips. We will definitely come back when we visit town! ❤️

We had a really good time at the pub trying some traditional English food. The large variety of different drinks make it a great place for pint lovers.

Everythings fantastic. The kind of gastropub I’d like to hang around. Good selection of beer and knowledgeable staff help me a lot with that. Everything on the charcuterie board are nice, scotch eggs are tasty, croquettes are yummy. Now the mains, pork belly is the killer, but that deep fried sea bream(it was the day’s special) was astronomical… life changing kind of fish you’ll need. My new favourite in Cambridge.

The Pint Shop is a modern beer bar in the centre of Cambridge, not far from King's College. There's plenty of beers to choose from, albeit all kegged ones. Its sparse décor will to young, affluent punters. And you'll need to be affluent, as the prices are among the highest per pint in town (see blackboard picture). More problematic are the staff, at least on the day I visited. The woman behind the bar was not only arrogant and distanced (as I'm neither young nor particularly affluent), but also squarely ignorant of the product. I asked her a question about one of the beers, and you could see her expression changing from unfriendly to BLANK. If you're selling expensive keg beers, you better be an expert on them. The Scotch egg I had with my beer was excellent though. Freshly made, warm, and the yolks were runny. Kudos for that. Still, at UKP 6.50, not cheap. So: Interesting (kegged) beers at elevated prices, but no staff expertise and the wrong attitude on evidence (at least that day). Maybe I picked the wrong day. Maybe not. Also the pub is insulting to smoking and vaping clientele by just offering a non-smoking beer garden, and a bare, faceless alleyway for them. That's woke nonsense.

Excellent Sunday roast; pretty good value too especially if going for multiple courses (£26 for 2, £30 for 3). Extensive ale/lager selection but only the one bitter on the list so more catered for the craftier type of drinker. Nice atmosphere, fast service and friendly staff.
