B-413 Submarine

Specialty Museums
The maritime museum B-413 Submarine is a cool place to visit for anyone interested in submarines. The exhibits inside tell the story of the submarine, from its construction to its use by the Soviet Union and Russia. It is part of a larger collection of boats at museums of oceans, and it is worth visiting if you're curious about maritime history.
You can't even imagine how difficult and unbelievable is to live and work in the submarine. Go and discover world of small spaces under the water. How they work, sleep, fight and go to the restroom. Take a walk from top to end and learn how difficult is to maintain it working. Wonderful experience!
Nikola “DelBoy” — Google review
This was a cool place to visit. For decades a submarine used by Soviet Union and Russia. It's part of bigger collections of boat at Museums of Oceans. It is 300 rubles to get into boat. It is really striking just how cramped and claustrophobic it is. The displays are in Russian but still got a good sense of how it felt in the vehicle.
Robert Cooke — Google review
Very interesting object to visit, rarely where to see everything inside. Definitely worth a visit

Greatly preserved and renovated Soviet / Russian Federation Navy attack submarine constructed in 1960s and being in service until recent years.

If you over 1.90 cm high, better to stay outside 😁. But if seriously only for one-time visiting, just to see the ship from inside.

Fort Donkhoff

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Fort Donkhoff is a 19th-century fort that boasts a moat filled with water, earthen embankments, and inner courtyards. It is the best-preserved fort among those in the area because it never saw any real combat. Currently undergoing extensive restoration works, visitors can explore the site with or without a guide who offers free hourly tours. Additionally, there are paid amenities such as a café and shooting range available on-site.
Wonderful historical place. You can order excursion in English beforehand or just pay for ticket and come to see the fort built in 19th century.
Elena T — Google review
From all of the forts this one is considered to be in the best condition because it never saw real combat. It is also being restored quite extensively lately, so you might see more than in the other forts. A guide gives free tours at the start of every hour but if you wish you can wander through the fort all by yourself. There's also a cafe and a shooting range operating there but those aren't free.
Clever Carrot — Google review
Not to mention that the location is quite far from center, the fortress offers you a free tour for around an hour in the Russian language. It is interesting to know story behind. There is no proper toilet, so be aware. There is only one place to eat but they microwaved the meals (not fresh). Area is nice. Ticket is 250. Worth to visit.

Curonian Spit

Mentioned on
Peninsula
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Curonian Spit is a popular tourist destination along the Baltic Sea, spanning 98 kilometers and featuring beaches and resort towns. Although it experiences seasonal closures outside of summer, visitors can obtain visas to walk from Europe to Russia. However, recent summers in Northern Europe have seen unusual cold and rainy weather patterns, requiring travelers to bring essential items such as umbrellas and raincoats even on sunny days. Despite these challenges, the Curonian Spit remains a sought-after vacation spot for those seeking seaside relaxation.
This 40-foot sundial stands atop the Parnidis Dune, one of the scenic highlights of Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared by Lithuania and Russia. Built in 1995, the sundial was damaged by a hurricane a few years later and rebuilt in 2011. It accurately tells time by creating shadows on the steps, with notches for hours and half hours, as well as months, equinoxes, and solstices. March 20 marks the spring (or vernal) equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, meaning that for the next six months daylight hours will outlast nighttime darkness. When it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere, those of us above the equator are tilted away from the sun, giving us shorter days and longer nights. In summer, we're tilted toward the sun, but the equinox is right in between. It's the moment during Earth's annual revolution around the sun when its axis is neither tilting away nor tilting toward the sun, giving everyone on the planet an equal split of day and night. This phenomenon happens twice a year—in March and again in September. In the Southern Hemisphere, everything's flipped. There, it's the autumnal equinox today — and, yes, winter is coming.

Might be unique wonder of nature, but human touch (ferry service capacity from and to mainlaind) makes the experience of getting there uniquely painful and nightmarish. 5 hours(!!) waiting in car at the ferry terminal (back and forth) to have 2 hours in the Sea museum (as there was no time left for anything else). All thumbs down for (de)organized logistics here.
Gusts Kikusts — Google review
I am very pleased to have visited this place. With a visa you can walk from Europe to Russia.
Roman Chernov (LGBT TRAVELs) — Google review
Was very disappointed, there where sign's all over the place saying keep off sand dunes before I got onto the beach then I walked onto the beach and there was no sand and only a puddle of water. I was ready to go the the beach and everything. I brought my beach chair and sunscreen and just wanted a nice peaceful day at the beach but there was no beach for me to be at.
Brianna Kimbrell — Google review
30 euros to enter plus ferry expenses plus atractions entrance fee is way too expensive to pay for the place. Extremely overrated. You can see places like this throughout Europe for free. I was deeply disappointed.

The Old House Apartment Museum in Kaliningrad gives a fascinating insight into how a typical apartment in this area would have looked 100 years ago, with interesting items including furniture and period pieces. Designed as a meeting place for interesting meetings, lectures and excursions, the museum is also great for children who love to learn about history through objects.
Really interesting insight into merchant's home 100 years ago. (Tour is in Russian only but you can grasp essentials even with very limited Russian)
Helen Matthews — Google review
Ticket is 500 rubles and you will get 40 minutes of guided tour only in Russian language. For me it is a bit over priced. The room is only one floor and interesting to know how people lived 100 years ago. But in my personal opinion, nothing is surprising to see the house, but to hear the story is a great experience.

It is a Brick Gothic-style monument in Kaliningrad and is the most significant preserved building of the former city of Königsberg, which was largely destroyed in World War II. The construction was completed in 1380. Although it was heavily damaged in World War II, it has since been restored afterward. It is the largest brick church in the Baltic region and has three towers, and a 700-pipe organ (one of the largest in Russia). The interesting fact about it is that It is the burial place of Immanuel Kant, the famous philosopher and his statue is in the cathedral as well. There are lots of interactive parts inside the exhibition about Kant, for example in one part you can ask any question from him, and he'll answer you! If you are interested in learning more about the history of Königsberg or the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, then a visit to the cathedral is a must.

Standing proudly in the heart of Königsberg, the Königsberg Cathedral serves as a captivating testament to the rich history and architectural grandeur of the region. With its imposing presence and intricate details, this majestic cathedral holds within its walls the echoes of centuries past. The Königsberg Cathedral, originally known as the Cathedral of the Holy Family, stands as an iconic symbol of Prussian heritage. Constructed in the 14th century, it served as the spiritual heart of the medieval city of Königsberg, the former capital of East Prussia. The cathedral's towering spires and Gothic architecture reflect the magnificence and power of the Teutonic Knights, who once ruled over the region. The Teutonic Knights, also known as the Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem, were a medieval Catholic military order founded in the late 12th century. One notable feature within the cathedral is the tomb of Immanuel Kant, the renowned German philosopher who spent most of his life in Königsberg. His final resting place is a site of pilgrimage for intellectuals and admirers of his philosophical contributions.

First restaurant in Kaliningrad according to TripAdvisor rank. It’s located into shopping malll but if You go go inside You will not feel it. Great staff, very clear english menu with exact pics of dishes. Food here is like from heaven. Very soft dumplings, really tasty barshch, beef strogonoff with potato puree also perfect. The bill for 3 people under 2000RUB which is OK for such service. Very nice owner who said „dasvidania” when we went out. RECOMMENDED place to visit!

Decent food, but limited on that day in options of food. It wasn't a wow factor, chairs were super hard for me, chicken was a bit dry, presentation overall was good. Wasn't thoroughly impressed, just average. For 5 star food and service while paying 2 star pricing, go to Fischer restaurant, German style food with russian soul.

Ugli is a restaurant that takes its name from the word "coals" and specializes in dishes cooked over an open flame. The menu features a variety of meaty options, including steaks, home-smoked duck breast, salmon, and baked bone marrow on rye toast. The restaurant offers well-chosen wines to pair with the meals. The ambiance combines elements of an industrial warehouse with a cozy woodland cabin, creating a unique dining atmosphere. Guests appreciate the friendly service and value for money.
I loved the place, location food and atmosphere and most importantly the wonderful staff.Honestly i had nothing but good food and great service, music was also great.

Both the menu and the service just don't match the expectations of a place rated so highly. The food is nicely served but lacks the inspiration or variety for that matter, the service could be improved as well, with less intrusive touch (where appropriate - that's what the waiters should be sensitive to). The interiors are nicely designed and thought through, apparently. To summarise - I'd rate it 5* if it was less expensive, but you just don't get what you pay for here 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fukken amazing value, great food, cute staff, and they will pack the leftovers if you accidentally order too much. The menus are available in English, though the one for drinks is only in Russian (western brands of beer or whatever are still in Latin letters). All in all, a great spot! If only it was the closest restaurant to a better hotel than "Moscow."

Amazing food! All the seafoods are extremely fresh and of a very high quality. Didn’t explore too much, but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the best fish restaurant in town. The prices are a bit high for Kaliningrad, but still much lower than in Moscow for this quality. Fish Club platter is a must to try!

Well, place is nice regarding design. Food is fine, but not spectacular regarding serving. What is down for this place is a Service. I was with a friend. We ordered 2 different dishes. After 20 min my friend received his. After another 10 waitress came with information that they dont have the Fish i ordered. They needed half hour to come to this coclusion. No sign of apologise like a complimentary drink or a dessert. For them there was no issue. So my experience was rather poor after all.

The interior is adorned with industrial elements such as steel beams, dark wood accents, and atmospheric lighting, creating a brew house-inspired atmosphere. You can indulge in classic dishes like venison, wild boar, and sterlet while enjoying a refreshing pint. This establishment not only satisfies your hunger but also feeds your soul.
Food was really nice, i had raindeer fillet with blackcurrant sauce and potato pure. In compare to it's price it was totally worth. Other dishes ex. fish, raindeer burger also pretty nice. Nice thing is that yoy get a pair of gloves to your burger, so you don't get messy too much. Highly recommend!

Loved the place - we went for the whole line-up of their house beers and plenty of different seafood and fish meals: absolutely delicious smoked mackerel and some baked whitefish with barley, as well as a grilled squid, aubergine rolls and pan-fried potatoes with forest mushrooms). Everything was just great and served perfectly (the waiter's name was Alexei - he was knowledgeable and courteous). Given we've paid less that 30 quid for the dinner - the place is a real marvel of Kaliningrad fine dining. Strongly recommended!
