Beautiful place, the interiors were such a surprise with some amazing woodwork. We had a tour which ended up being just the two of us and it was fascinating. Lovely gardens too on a sunny day.

A lovely, tranquil place to wander amongst the greenery - a beautiful mix of formal and wilder gardens. The walled garden was looking especially colourful. Plus, delicious tea!

This is a beautiful country house set in a spectacular garden. You walk through different areas, an Italian garden, a walled garden, orchard, wild garden and mixed borders, with magnificent tree specimens scattered around. Take a camera.

Wonderful gardens! A wide variety of styles and all are immaculately maintained. The house is a hidden gem in the Kent countryside. We received a very friendly welcome and enjoyed tea and cakes after walking round. We'll definitely go again.

Wonderful house steeped in history coupled with the most superb gardens. We attended the jazz night, which was very chilled in a great setting within the walled garden. The tea rooms are a delight with cakes baked on site - don't miss if you visit the Ashford area.

I visited the gardens and loved them. They come in a great variety from a formal garden, an Italian garden and a wild garden and more. Great. There was a sculpture exhibition when we visited, that was a great addition !

What an absolute gem. The gardens are stunning and today included the most magnificent delphiniums I have ever seen. We also had a pre-booked private tour of the house and the guides were very informative as well as helpful.

Godinton House is a country estate in a beautiful spot of land in the countryside just outside Ashford. Even in March it has a lot to offer and is very worth a visit. Come and see beautiful daffodils and tulips a little later in spring.

Lovely day out, we only visited the gardens as it was a Sunday but totally worth it. Plenty of seating dotted all around the grounds. Lovely staff.
Terry Smart — Google review
Beautiful hidden gem. We only walked around the gardens today as booking is required for the house. However, lovely staff and a tranquil place to visit and admire the gardens. Little cafe onsite too with drinks and homemade cakes.

Looks biggest, then it is. There are a lot of shops but the choice in these shops is not too big, there is always something nice to buy in stores such as Lacoste or Hugo Boss, when it comes to shops like Adidas or Nike, there was not much choice and the prices were not outlets. The car park is big i chep.

Even with the parking looking very busy, they are always spaces to park. Good amount of places to have food as well.
joana dimova — Google review
Quite a nice spacious and well laid out outlet here. There is an array of shops to chose from and a reasonable priced car park here. £2 for 4 hours I don't think is actually that bad compared to some other outlets. The facilities are impeccable and well maintained and the shops are almost like shipping containers, but that didn't deter me either... From the outside it looks like zippos circus, but inside is where the shopping begins. Really enjoyed my visit.
Zeon Xavier — Google review
Amazing place! Super discounts! Go with friends as you get additional discount when you buy multiple products from same shop. Easy 1.5 hours drive from London. Parking is free after 5!
sourabh khandelwal — Google review
When you're up for some designer brands but on a budget, Ashford is the best to be y'all. Crazy discounts that will have you shopping till your fingers go numb. Only if you're outside the stores. Though majority of the stores have discounts some may not be the optimal shopping outlets for some people. There are some stores you just need to avoid, not even eye shopping. Don't waste precious time! This has been the slowest sales time for the outlets but the shopping experience for me was wonderful, not too croweded and super clean. Maybe you can eat off the ground but I won't advise it. Get the family here or come alone, the experience will be worth your time. Just plan wisely and it will be efficient. This my first visit was wonderful ☺

We had plans to meet up with friends after we visited this place. Thought that we only needed 1 hour but turns out that we needed at least 2 hours! We came in the middle of the week. My mother in law said that there were lines to get in the parking lot but luckily we had no trouble. Lots of big brands that I recognize and several London brands that I did not. Scored some amazing deals. It was hot but there are covered awnings. Most of the shops had air conditioning so it gave us relief from the heat. Plenty of bathrooms scattered around as well as food carts and a food court. They even had a play area for the kiddos.
Kay Bee — Google review
The Best outlets, love the environment here. Huge variety of stores and restaurants available. Good Discounts always. Paid parking available.
Harpreet singh Harika — Google review
This place is huge, but with easy access off the motorway and parking at just £2 for 4 hours (cards or cash) there's no need to rush. If you do have a young child, maybe the buggy hire would help? I think it's 100 different designers here and they do seem to be cheaper than full price.
Simon F — Google review
This past weekend, my wife and I, along with our cousins, decided to take a day trip from Dartford to explore the Ashford Designer Outlet. Having never been before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We arrived bright and early at around 9:00 AM, eager to dive into the world of discounted designer goods. The first thing that struck me was the unique architecture. The entire outlet is covered by a magnificent tented structure, which provided a bright and airy feel while we browsed the stores. It was a far cry from the usual enclosed shopping mall experience. But the surprises didn't stop there. Even the restrooms were impressive! They were impeccably clean and maintained, with a designated lounge area offering comfortable seating for those who needed a moment to rest their weary shopping legs – a thoughtful touch that I haven't encountered anywhere else. Now, onto the main event – the shopping! The variety of stores was truly staggering. From high-end designer labels to popular high-street brands, there was something to cater to every taste and budget. While some of the designer items were still a bit out of reach, we did find some fantastic deals on clothing, footwear, and accessories across various stores. With all that shopping, it was inevitable that hunger pangs would set in. Thankfully, the Ashford Designer Outlet boasts a wide selection of restaurants, cafes, and snack bars. We opted for some delicious hot dogs to keep our energy levels up, but there were plenty of other tempting options available, from fast food favorites to sit-down meals. Overall, our trip to the Ashford Designer Outlet was a resounding success. The unique environment, the impressive facilities, and the wide variety of shops made for a thoroughly enjoyable day. Whether you're a seasoned bargain hunter or just looking for a fun day out with family or friends, I highly recommend checking it out. Just be prepared to be impressed!

For someone who does not enjoy shopping, I always seem to do well here. It is laid out in a ring, parking in the middle, which makes it easy to see the end in sight 😊. Loads of outlet options with some great deals to be had. There are plenty of food and drinks options, from restaurants to street food vans. The toilets are the cleanest I have ever seen 👌. Parking is easy, and I paid £4 for what felt like all day.
David Barton — Google review
Great experience for the first time visiting Outlet. Well priced items in outlets. However you can get carried away. So be mindful to look at the stuff before you want to go and shop and compare the prices before hand. We bought couple of things which we already priced matched on retailers.
GirlNextDoor Traveller — Google review
Great place, clean and tidy, lots of good brands to buy stuff. They have various food and coffee places and a nice play for kids. They do have Parking charge £2 for 4 hours.

Overall the Designer Outlet Ashford is a great place if you are looking to bag a bargain. I was particularly impressed with how clean and well presented everything was, toilet facilities are immaculate and nicely designed and there is ample parking available and it isn't expensive. There is a great range of shops to browse and everyone that we visited was well thought out and had a decent range of items, prices are okay as everything is always on sale. The Designer Outlet Ashford only lost one star due to the very expensive food although I am not sure if they have any control over that.
Nik Brooks — Google review
A well kept outlet. Plenty of places to ear and shop. They also have a playground to keep little ones happy.
SOHEILA TAKLIMI — Google review
Better than we expected. Shops for all ages or interests. Food options a little lacking..expensive coffee places really if u want to sit. A nice experience overall.
No False Moves — Google review
Extremely large number of designer shops, prices pretty good. Large number of decent restaurants also. Car parking in the centre surrounded by the shops, £2 for 4 hours not bad
Richard Byrne — Google review
Plenty of space, helps if you go weekdays and daytime. All the usual shops that you would expect in these outlet ' villages.' Nice design to shelter the walkways. Could do with something of a wow factor, that would make you stay here. An independent quality restaurant to break up the sense of being funnelled into a multinational consumer conveyor belt. Look overseas at some Malls and then you see those touches. Ice rinks/ cinemas/ fountains/ art pieces/ dry ski slopes.

Sights & Landmarks
The Willesborough Windmill Trust Ltd offers a unique wedding service in an unexpected location, hidden behind main roads and a petrol station near the M20. Operated by knowledgeable volunteers, this over 150-year-old windmill demonstrates how millstones work to alter flour coarseness and allows children to try grinding wheat. Although in need of maintenance and repairs, the warm and friendly atmosphere remains intact for visitors who can enjoy delicious cakes and scones on offer.
Ran by volunteers, this is a wonderful place to visit with the family. A great insight into a working windmill, with the chance to buy some of the milled flour in the cafe. Very reasonably priced for the tour and the cafe is well priced too.
Zoe Ellis — Google review
Visited for a wedding, small place, windmill has turned green with age and weather so looks like it needs a good clean and some restoration.
Nathan Wayne — Google review
This Windmill is actually quite a surprise, because rather than being out in the country it's tucked away behind the M20, other main roads and a petrol station... but you wouldn't know it when you're there. It's over 150 years old and is run by a warm and friendly team of volunteers who have extensive knowledge of the area and Mill. They demonstrate how the millstones work together to change the coarseness of the flour, and allow children to try grinding wheat. They told us at the time we visited that it was due a bit of maintenance, small repairs and a new coat of paint, so it could have looked a bit better but the experience was still quiet, warm and friendly. They have a lovely selection of cakes and scones too.

Very informative tour guide. My daughters and I found it quite educational and enjoyable. The best part was when they used a stone mill to grind some flour. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and have a couple of hours to kill. There is a charming little cafe with teas, cakes, etc. All the staff were welcoming and friendly.
Tala M — Google review
What a magical place to visit, my friends were married here on Saturday and I completely understand why they did. The staff were ever so friendly and attentive to the guests and helped make it such a wonderful day. I was given a sneak peek of the inside of the windmill the day before the wedding and I will definitely be going back for a tour of the windmill when I visit Ashford next.
Felicity Chessman-Ward — Google review
A beautiful windmill and museum located on the outskirts of Ashford. They have a free car park located just a short walk across the field. Inside there's a nice cafe serving a good selection. Staff are very friendly.

Kent Downs is a picturesque natural reserve situated in the midst of Kent, offering several outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and horseback riding, while also providing excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. The reserve is well-maintained and boasts stunning views overlooking the surrounding areas including Folkestone, Chilham and Wye. Although there are no public amenities in close proximity to the reserve, it remains an excellent destination for long scenic walks amidst hills and valleys with immaculate preservation of nature's beauty.
Managed to pick a very hot and sunny day to go here and it was so worth it. Miles of green and pleasant land to walk and lots of beautiful scenery to feast your eyes upon. If you love to walk and climb and take photos like myself then this is well worth a visit Only one negative is that there’s no toilet facilities nearby. But other than that it’s a lovely scenic and tranquil place to spend the day
Tray Nix — Google review
A very large area of national beauty of which I have spent lots of time in myself over the years being from Kent. Dotted with lots of small villages and hiking trails it's an integral part of Kent life if you're from the area. An abundance of things to see and do in the downs themselves, but the highlights are the views across rolling hills, the hidden woods, and sounds of wildlife.

The photos you see are of The Samuel Palmer (PH) and restaurants, and church opposite. The location is in the village of Shoreham Kent and not KENT DOWNS ! The pub has just reopened and has had a massive face lift done, there is a friendly atmosphere hear and the staff very helpful and polite. I would recommend going and having a look if just for a drink. The Samuel Palmer, Church St, Shoreham, TN14 7RY.

Wye nature reserve is a beautiful place with a viewpoint to grasp the view of Ashford city from the hill. The coombe, having a steep slope and a warning sign of 'unexploded ordnance', with a small forest area down the hill, is worth visiting. Great place to watch the sunset! The track gets mucky at times, so mud boots or shoes with good grip are advised.

Stunning natural reserve right in the middle of kent. Few minutes drive from the historical town of Chilham, wye and Godmersham park. It is within walking distance if you come from Wye station, but is best to come by car. The reserve is kept immaculate and I was surprised to see some natural chalk kept in pristine conditions. Nature is preserved well and the view from the top is simple breathtaking. On a good day you can see: Folkestone, Chilham,Wye, Hythe and surrounding areas. If you live here or just passing by, do yourself a favour and stop here!

As most of England's AONB is a marvellous and spectacular area, landscapes are stunning, specially to have a walk around there. Don't miss out fantastic views of the seaside. The Sportsman is a Michelin-starred seaside gastropub, renowned for its creative and high quality food. It focuses on locally sourced seafood and meats, with a relaxed and cosy atmosphere.
The restaurant never lets me down! We’ve been coming here for over 10 years and the food is always absolutely impeccable. Service wasn’t as good as it used to be, there used to be an older gentleman who would always take the time to learn what you like and recommend dishes and wine. Now it’s just a few young girls, who don’t really know much. But the food is always faultless!!

a small and rustic restaurant! the tasting menu is the one to go for, you get a bit of everything and you can’t go wrong with it! of course the menu changes daily as it depends on harvest! you can see the gardens where they grow their own vegetables through the window, which just makes the food taste of much better! would recommend coming for a sunny brunch, as the lighting makes everything better!

A lovely birthday treat from my wife. I've been wanting to try their menu for a while and was lucky enough to get in. Food was exceptional. However, we did find our mains roast dinner vibes, still delicious nonetheless. Just means we'll have to return in the new year! 😀

Excellent service. Good selection of red and white wine. Michelin grade food. Only tasting menu available at the moment. However it is a tasting menu you can select from a number of courses. Quality of food is way above normal restaurants.

Amazing food, the staff was lovely, we really enjoyed the experience, and it was well worth the money. A bit more time between courses would have suited us a bit better, but would love to go again someday.

The food is delicious, beautifully cooked with a light touch and packed with flavour. We particularly loved the well balanced sauces and the onion soup amuse bouche will be remembered for a long time. The decor is relaxed as is the dress code. Remember you should book ahead and try a short walk to admire the amazing view.

Booked in September to ensure I could have the date I wanted. I am not sure whether it was really necessary but I was conscious how busy the Sportsman can be. The team were really friendly and welcoming. The service was excellent. The food was delicious (just a small selection of photos - regretfully I had started some of the other dishes before I realised I had not taken a picture). The Oysters were absolutely wonderful and would have happily eaten many more.

Wonderful lunch. It's a tasting menu but with lots of choices. We shared two of the four dishes offered each course and still wanted to book the very next sitting to experience all the things we didn't order. If you can get a table, you must try it.

I could not fault the food. This was a truly special meal. Superbly cooked food and a delicately crafted menu. Relaxed atmosphere, in fact I went suited and booted but really smart casual was the way to go. The staff were efficient, friendly and appreciative. The only thing missing is a cocktail waiter; I really think this is a must have to push this restaurant to the next level, the food is already top drawer but it was a shame not to be able to get an old fashioned or a Martini before dinner.

Tonight we finally made it to The Sportsman in Seasalter for what has to be the best mid week meal in a long time. The place was packed and we now know why we had to book months in advance to secure a table for the evening meal. The only offer a 5 course tasting menu , but a choice from 4 on each course, and at £80, that’s good value for money for a one star. The highlight for me was their used trout, crab and carrot, and the lemon tart with meringue ice cream. Our visit was well worth the wait.
Pesh — Google review
This was a special birthday gift from our Grandsons. The food was amazing and portion sizes brilliant for a tasting menu. Staff were attentive but discreet. 👏 The pictures were my selection of oysters, slip sole, duck & almond tart.

We came for Saturday lunch and really enjoyed the food experience at this Michelin star pub. It's 5 courses for £80 and includes snacks and bread, another palate cleanser dessert and some mini macarons at the end. Between the three of us, we all got something different so we could taste more of the dishes. Everything was delicious but the highlights includes the three poached rock oysters, native lobster with potato, tomato and hollandaise, maple cured pork loin and the blackcurrant souffle. Service was relaxed and friendly.

The West House is a family-run restaurant located in a weaver's cottage from the 16th century. It gained a Michelin star within its first year of opening, under chef and owner Graham Garrett's exceptional delivery of high-quality ingredients. The restaurant offers constantly changing Modern English dishes that are both experimental and imaginative. Some previous menu highlights include venison with espresso syrup, barbecued pig shoulder, and chocolate-topped chicken liver parfait eclair.
Wow! What can I say. It was my first time dining at the West House and it was amazing! The ambiance, and the staff were lovely. The food is the best I’ve ever tasted. I had a selection on fish, duck and beef and they were all beautiful! The desert was amazing too! I will definitely want to come back! Thank you!

Beautiful food let down by a few sloppy service flaws. Firstly if you want to eat great food, creatively and expertly made you won't go far wrong than this small restaurant in the heart of Kent. 7 courses from bread and olives through to a marvelously silky smooth lemon Meringue. It was delightfull. My favourite was the Duck Taco. Could have easily eaten a plate of these. Dropped a star beacuase the cheese board came out before the dessert which left my party waiting for me to finish before they recieved their dessert. Once cleared, the wait for the dessert was far too long and the waitress dropped a fork from a plate onto my partners lap. And at £250 for two people the service should be slicker and felt more professional. Saying that the other waiters gave a great overview of all of the wines and each course as they came. I was pleased to hear about local food being incorporated into the menu. All in all a great experiance and almost perfect...
Lee Stone — Google review
We didn't stay here but we did eat in the restaurant. Its the 2nd time we've been. Food is always excellent but check out prices before you go. My opinion is that the food is excellent and up there with the best. This comes at a cost which is absolutely fine. However. Although I do appreciate that a lot of work goes into the various courses with fine ingredients which is where the cost is I did feel a bit disappointed with the optional extra cheese and biscuit course which for £15 for 4 tiny pieces of cheese, 4 biscuits and some pickle was a bit over priced. Tasty but over priced. That being said I would definitely go back. 4 of us ate food, 2 bottles of wine, 3 cocktails, soft drinks and 1 coffee nearly £600. I do feel that the 12.5% service charge should be optional and not automatically added to the bill.. this out of everything would be what would make me think twice about going back. As previously mentioned, the food is excellent so worth a try at least once. Staff are very friendly and attentive.

Dining at The West House in Kent was an unforgettable journey that went far beyond the realms of traditional gastronomy. Each dish served was not just a meal but an emotional exploration, profoundly touching our hearts and minds. From the moment we stepped into The West House, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere, setting the stage for the extraordinary evening that lay ahead. Each course served was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted to not just tantalise the taste buds but to evoke a spectrum of emotions. The dishes were innovative, each telling a unique story through its flavors, textures, and presentation, leaving us in awe of the chef’s artistry and passion for food. What made the meal truly unforgettable was how it provoked deep, emotional responses. Each bite seemed to carry a narrative, from joy and nostalgia to curiosity and wonder, making us pause and reflect on the experiences that shape our lives. The food did more than just satisfy our hunger; it stirred conversations between me and my wife about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness, elevating our spirits and bonding us even more closely. The West House offered us more than a meal; it provided an emotional awakening, making it a truly transformative dining experience that we will cherish and seek to revisit very very soon.

We had the taster menu and every dish was an explosion of flavours on the pallet. Each dish explained when it arrived and each dish as good as the next. Its not cheap but worth every penny because the food and service is incredible. We look forward to returning thank you to all.

We had a nice, relaxing evening meal. Tables in the restaurant are at a good distance from each other, which makes all the difference. The staff was attentive but not overbearing. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and arrived at just the right intervals. We loved little surprise treats in between courses. Will definitely come back. Big thank you to Chef Graham and his Team.

Had the full set menu with the wine testing pairing option and each dish was tasty and original. Each ingredient accurately selected with combinations never tried before. My favorite was the hake. Although they are family friendly the menu does not have any options for kids, so recommend to bring some from home. Overall good experience.

Well the food in the West House is as good as we have had anywhere. It was a 5 course set menu and nibbles before hand. No choice but every course was excellent, and unlike some tasting menus we were served the correct amount of food. Not too much and not too little. We rarely have the matched wines with a set menu but the wine list is so unusual that we decided to try, and we were not disappointed. 4 out of 5 were perfectly to our taste, the 5th was strange but perfectly matched to the spicy food. We went on a Thursday and it was quiet but the helpful and friendly service made up for it. Be careful because it is expensive, but we felt that it was worth the money. We will definitely go again and we strongly recommend the West House. Lovely.

Market
The Goods Shed is a superb all-day restaurant that overlooks the daily market in Canterbury, Kent. The menu always changes to reflect what the local producers have to offer, ranging from fresh meats and cheeses to delicious pastries and breads baked in the restaurant’s own bakery. Whether you choose to dine inside or outside in the charming garden setting, you’ll be sure to enjoy an excellent meal at this wonderful eatery!
Had the best meal for my husbands birthday! Beautiful produce, loved having a seasonal menu and cocktails to go with too. Everything was so delicious and the staff were really friendly. Will definitely be returning!

Former goods shed now packed full of good produce. As well as fresh food (including greengrocers, butcher, fishmonger) there are some cafes, a bar and a restaurant. I ate at Gill's cafe which was fantastic. I had the salad, and it was so good, I came back the next day for another one. They have a choice of interesting salads and you get a big bowl for £8. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended! Combining ‘Farmers market’ and restaurant in one great building (repurposed railway shed) is a great idea! We had a fabulous lunch in the restaurant (perfectly cooked, good size portions, well presented and knowledgeable and attentive service) and then browsed the fresh food stalls on the way out (excellent fishmonger amongst others). Great atmosphere and setting.

A previous goods shed for Canterbury West station, which has been converted into a very interesting space: farmer's market, several small restaurants, wine shops, butcher, etc. We had a wonderful time there, great atmosphere and pretty well served in terms of public transport and parking. My new favourite spot in Canterbury.

Name a better foodie spot in Kent than Canterbury, and I’ll show you to its many creative, unique eateries. As a Canterbury local, I am indeed a little biased, but even as someone who regularly waxes lyrical about the many restaurants on my doorstep, I’ve raved a little more than usual when it comes to The Goods Shed. Footsteps from Canterbury West station, the restaurant now reopened and is already made a mark, be sure to ring ahead and book a table in this amazing space, The Goods Shed

The Goods Shed ois a great concept. Farmers market and restaurant in one building. A very nice building too. The food was good fare. We had the snacks, starter, main course and desert/cheese. All were tasty and well made. The service was a bit slow at times but they were busy with only 2 waiters. The atmosphere at lunchtime was bright and busy, surrounded by artisan food from the market it is all 'good food' orientated. I would go again.

One of my favourite places in Canterbury. Seasonal menu, delicious food, great staff and atmosphere. When I was a local it was my regular go to.

Great and Independents Mini Shops...! Beautiful and fresh vegetables 🍎🍇🍊🥕🥔🍅🥦🥬 The superb quality of meat and fish. The fish and seafood 🦞🦐🦀 were surprisingly fresh!! Amazing choice of wines🍾 and cheeses 🧀 European deli. Fantastic Oliver oils. If you feel hungry😋 there's a restaurant and café inside the market. I would shop regularly in The Goods Shed if I was living in the area!! I love the people from Canterbury, they are amazingly friendly, helpful and polite🤗

Value for money is not great. Food quality is decent but over the top expensive. The waiting staff is not attentive, no check back. Wine list isdecnet yet a bit over the top on prices. Lamp leg was £26. A bit oily, and blunt. Thought it was well cooked. Portion was reasonably smaller than expected. As mentioned earlier; after snacks, starters and main the waiter never checked back throughout out 1:25min lunch meal. Have a snack and glass of wine and head elsewhere for food.

My favourite place to get fabulous fresh food. The butcher counter is absolutely amazing with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The fish counter is awesome. And all the way at the back, you can get some French cheese and charcuterie, and it's right next to Canterbury West Station

Rocksalt is a seafood restaurant in Folkestone that offers fresh, local dishes. The panoramic views of the English Channel from the restaurant and the terrace are a bonus.
Oh my gosh this place is amazing! Expensive, yes but well worth it and the staff are fantastic, very attentive. We had the 2 course set lunch menu then ordered off set menu for dessert and everything was incredible. Down to the flavoured butters & taramasalata they served with bread. We sat outside & were the only ones out there the whole time but we were not forgotten about. Staff came out regularly to check on us & top up our wine. Everything was served at a reasonable pace. We were just enjoying the view and sound of the sea beneath us. Highly recommend dining here.

Amazing!! The View is perfect, calming and wonderful. We chose the place for this and not disappointed. Got a table while the sun setting so beautiful colours on the horizon. Staff were attentive and polite, and had a good sense of humour. The decor is tasteful and comfortable. Impressed with the bar choices 👌🏼 The food was deliscious. Cooked beautifully and great touches to enhance the elements of the dishes. We were so full from our main. Lovely sorbet choices. Definitely want to come back to try other dishes on the menu 😊

My husband and I came to stay here in April for the first night of our honeymoon based on finding it on the Michelin Guide. The service from the start was lovely, the man checking us into the room was very nice and showed us all the way to our door. The room was very comfortable with a lovely shower room. The rooms were quaint but very comfy beds and a nice set up. Dinner was spectacular, with some of the best cooked sea bass I've had. Cocktails are a must - we recommend the Once Upon a Tide. Breakfast was also great with delicious smoked salmon avocado toast which was included with the room price. Folkstone itself was a bit dreary with lots of closed shops and sad vibes but the restaurant and rooms was a hidden gem with a beautiful view.

Great location overlooking the small harbour. The food was very good, we went for the Sunday roast, which sounds boring but it was perfect. Parking can be a problem, and we would advise booking ahead. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Some reviews have been a little negative but we enjoyed our experience and will return.

The food, the customer service amazing!! They served me the best gluten free bread I've ever had! Can get chilly on a winter night if sat near the glass doors leading to outdoor decking. Doors will be closed but you still get a draft coming in. Can get quite uncomfortable.

What an amazing place. The venue is superb, the views are lovely, but the thing that stands out for me are the people, they made it truly special. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. If you are close by then go there. The lamb rump was incredible… in fact just the complimentary bread was delicious. It was a treat for my dad’s birthday and they made him feel so special. We had an amazing evening, and I look forward to returning at some point in the future. Please do give it a try.

Had dinner and it was lovely. Very excellent starters of mussells and prawns and while my main (cod curly kale and shrimp butter) was great my husbands sea bass with parsnip something or other was absolutely amazing. Had a nice wine and a few cocktails and it was all lovely. Will certainly come back at some stage.

Probably the best located restaurant in the whole of Folkestone directly overlooking the Harbour. It's a stunningly modern building with lots of glass and an outside dining area. The food is excellent and of course it's mostly fresh fish and the service was equally as good. We had a couple of waiters and all of them were extremely friendly and polite and helpful. My only negative were the prices as I've eaten the same quality food in other restaurants and paid a lot less. There seems to be a a rising trend of of making you order sides extra and given the price of potatoes and vegetables I don't think it's justified but the setting is something else so overall its a great experience

The food is simply amazing! The staff very professional and kind. Inside the whole length of the restaurant is in glass and you can dine (at lunch) looking the tide grow inside the bay. Fantastic! I came back and I can confirm again the great experience. The food delicious and amazing service, the staff always smiling and attentive. 🫶

Great restaurant. Food was delicious. Caring and attentive staff. Had breakfast too as we were staying in one of their rooms. We had a delicious English breakfast. Room was nice, although the bathroom put it down. Really small. When booking I paid an extra that said to be for room sea view and bathtub... which was obviously missing because of the inexisting space for it in the room.

Incredible local food, including lots of locally caught seafood, and lovely views across the harbour. Came for lunch so it wasn't too busy, and service was excellent. I ordered the trout with a side of creamy mash and it couldn't have been cooked better! Absolutely delicious, even the mash is to die for! Be sure to book ahead as it can be difficult to get a table, and check the menu for prices too if you're on a budget as it can get expensive quickly.

We had a pleasant dinner here for my partners’ birthday. The food was great, and staff were nice. To bring a birthday cake ourselves and have the staff bring it out and serve it would have been an extra charge per head, which is somewhat ridiculous considering you’ve bought the cake yourself. They close very early on Sundays, which isn’t a complaint or a bad thing but I think they would do well if open later!

I shared a meal with my better half over the weekend and can say we were thoroughly impressed. Food was great, service 10/10, and location the same. Wait times for food was a little lengthy but gave the experience an almost European feel and was appreciated. We will be returning!

Food was great - starter of scallops and crab cooked just right. Main of cod and skate wing - both done very well. Glass of English Riesling. One night accommodation plain and simple. Breakfast poached eggs and salmon with stunning view of the harbour, after a bracing walk on the Arm. What's not to like. Cocktails and knowledgeable bar staff an added bonus.

We went into the bar for lunch as we'd been before. My son and I had the flavoursome cheeseburgers (again) which you can see behind the Folkestone Brown Crab Tarte, which my wife had. We followed that with a couple of desserts. The presentation was a delight to look at and the tastes were amazing. We also chatted with the knowledgeable staff about other items on the menu, the drinks and a future visit to the actual restaurant, which is situated below the bar.

Unbelievably Exquisite food in a beautiful setting. Had the cured bass followed by the gills head bream and we truly divine. Prices are what you'd expect, but it's a perfect place for a very special occasion

Small portion of linefish, hugely over-priced at £38. The portion was clearly halved, and I overheard from the waitress that the kitchen was running out of stock which explained it. The cherry on top was a kids ice cream sold as 3 scoops, but came as one small scoop...when pointed out to the waiter, he saw it as a favour and brought us one "extra" scoop. This summed up the attitude of the establishment: overly reliant on the excellent location, without any genuine interest in the experience of the customer. Unfortunately I left hugely disappointed.

Skate simply but well prepared . Starter of fish soup tasty. Wine uninspired and pricey. Excellent breakfast choice and all served in a superb location. The room was good value: warm, comfortable and had an outstanding view. Staff very attentive.

We went here for a birthday lunch. Restaurant set out really as although it wasn't busy at the time I felt like even on busier days you wouldn't be crammed in. Great views and the food was excellent. Cheese soufflé and steak were fantastically done. As they were aware it was a birthday the staff provided a little birthday treat after the meal unprompted which was very thoughtful too. Thoroughly recommended!
Darren Fitzgerald — Google review
We travelled from London especially to visit this restaurant for my birthday. I find the front entrance a-bit unwelcoming, however the picture frames windows towards the kitchen are such a great idea! The restaurant has incredible view and it’s quite spacious but no background music is played , so it’s lots of canteen like noises. The food was cooked very well and the menu had good variety but not very adventurous. One think that really let the experience down was the service. We waited a lot for the order to be taken, then a significant time for the mains to arrive and finally took 10 minutes to grab someone’s attention so I can get a knife for my main as all cutlery were cleared with starters. A little wait for the dessert too but the team very kindly served happy birthday plate too. We will be back one day as we love Folkestone, however service defiantly need to be improved to match the food quality.

I'm a happy customer so I'll recommend this beautiful restaurant.

Fabulous fish, expertly cooked, served in outstanding location; literally on the harbour. Fish soup had astonishing depth of flavour. Very good service -high end but our waitress was sensitive to what we actually wanted which was to be left alone to enjoy the food and the view. Will definitely return - would like to try the mid week lunch set menu.

We had lunch there. The food was fine but not spectacular. And the service was good except we often felt ignored because the staff were overstretched. And, if I'm being picky, it was too expensive.

The Fordwich Arms is a pub in Fordwich, England with an elegant vintage bar and riverside terrace. The pub has a seasonal menu with local ingredients; during the summer, dining is available on the terrace and gardens by the riverside. The pub was founded by 26-year-old chefs from London's Michelin-starred Clove Club.
Such a wonderful experience, from the beautifully presented and delicious food, to the stunning atmosphere and perfect service. We loved the added touch of a handwritten letter on the table for my partners birthday. We’re returning in April! Can’t wait.

Excellent food in a comfortable setting. Unlike other Michelin taster menus I’ve had, with this one I didn’t feel out of place. Some restaurants go over the top with the protocols and service level, that make the whole thing feel fake, but at The Fordwich, you’re in a pub…with people having a beer at the bar, so it all feels a bit more normal. The food is outstanding and the service is the right level of attentive and professional, without making you feel like you’re somewhere you shouldn’t be. The sommelier led us through the wine pairings, educating us, but (again) not feeling like he was patronising us. It’s expensive, for sure, but for a special occasion and when we don’t go out spending £100 a time on average food all the time, spending a bit more on a whole afternoon activity seems value for money to me.

We have dined here for a special occasion. The fire place was on and it added to overall atmosphere. We went for a longer menu. It was one of the best meals of our lives. Especially the lobster was just amazing. Every little piece was perfectly executed and balanced. Oysters were delicious as well. And the wine selection is very extensive.

We visited as a joint birthday treat and have to say that it absolutely lived up to the expectations that we both had, not cheap by any stretch of but absolutely fantastic. The meal was stunning, we had the a la carte menu which was complemented beautifully by the extras that were provided. The bread that was bought out was amazing - you could have done with that on every course to mop up all the fantastic sauces. The only good that we felt was not up to the level of the rest was the mince pie beignet served at the end of the meal. We both felt that this was a little doughy, with the mincemeat providing a grainy experience in the mouth, which wasn't the most pleasant. You also could not taste the fact that it was supposed to be a mince pie filling. That aside, the food was absolutely amazing and the surroundings intimate with attentive staff. Heartily recommend

Absolutely delightful. A lunchtime visit for a birthday, we were greeted by friendly staff and promptly shown to our table. The dining area is cosy, had a log fire on the go and beautiful Christmas tree in the corner. We chose the vegetarian tasting menu, which was exquisite, as were the drinks (raspberry and peach Bellini, and amaretto sour). Cost-wise, it might be on the pricey side, but the quality of the food, drink, and the service made it all worthwhile.

Tonight we popped into the other Michelin star pub near to our base, The Fordwich Arms, I. England’s smallest town of Fordwich. This pub offers a seasonal menu focus on provenance, showcasing the best of local Kentish ingredients, sourced directly from local farms and producers. We opted for the a la carte tonight. I went for the BBQ lobster, grape & spiced butter sauce , not worth the £25 extra cost. However, the raw Orkney scallop was a hit around the table. Shame only one of us ordered it. Only negative was the slow service and plates left on table for too long. Having to wait 30 mins between mains and deserts with plates still on the table was unacceptable. Due to the time of our pickup by taxi we had to rush the last course.

What an experience. 1st Michelin star restaurant we have been to and it did not disappoint. My daughter and son-in-law visit high end, Michelin restaurants a lot more than us and they said it was the best they have had. Well done to the team at The Fordwich Arms. Of course we had the taster menu. It was delicious. My wife wouldn't choose fish on any menu but she loved those dishes the best especially the oyster. We visited the Fordwich Arms about 20 years ago with my in-laws and it was great then. Pub hasn't changed much which is great. It has kept its old world charm. Service was lovely. Thank you. Absolutely fantastic afternoon had. From pre's on the terrace overlooking the river, to exquisite food had from there al a carte menu. We had intended to only have the set menu, but seeing the food on the al a carte, we thought we should bump for that, and we are so glad we did. The courses were excellently prepared and thoroughly enjoyed. We loved the little amuse-bouche that accompanied our meal. The staff were really professional and polite and made us feel very welcome. The best meal out we have had in many, many years.

Had the lunch time tasting menu. ( it's the same for the evening) absolutely 1st class. Bigger portions than the normal microscopic tasting experience. The staff were spot on, very knowledgeable, helpful and happy to be looking after their customers. We sat outside with lovely views of the river. There are 2 terraces one covered and the other with umbrellas. The only downside is parking can be a bit of a problem, you may need to walk a little, but its well worth it. Booking is essential. We will return.

We had an amazing lunch at this beautiful Michelin starred pub. The food, atmosphere and service were great. We did the al a carte which is 3 courses with snacks and bread for £75. Between the three of us, we got a different starter, main and dessert each to share which was a great decision to try different dishes. My favourites were the lobster (supplement), scallop, hake and venison. Sam looked after us and was super friendly and knowledgeable.
