Chase Distillery is a distillery that produces award-winning single-estate vodka and gin. The distillery offers tours of its production facilities, tastings, and a shop for visitors to purchase products. It has an excellent reputation for customer service with a laser-focus on providing the best experience possible. Visitors can learn about the manufacture and history of the business during their visit, which lasts around two hours.
The home of potato vodka. Excellent distillery tour, with 5 different tastings. Must have been good cost over £100 of buying on way out! A really good tour, good knowledge and lots of tips on how to mix your vodka and gin.
Jackie Griffin — Google review
Birthday treat! Great place to visit and spend a couple of hours. Fascinating to see and hear about the manufacture and history of the business. Great guide and the tastings were fantastic. You'll definitely spend money in the shop.
John Lissemore — Google review
I was lucky enough to win a tour of the Chase distillery a couple of weeks ago. If you are a fan of vodka or gin then this is the place for you. Our tour guide James was fabulous and gave an insite into the production methods they use and a history of the company. You get to sample many of the different drinks they have on offer and are able to purchase them from the shop. I definitely recommend that you either get a lift or a taxi. 😊
craig Jolley — Google review
First things first - the vodka is excellent, fantastic taste and deserving of the awards. My review is primarily about the Chase customer service which has been absolutely terrific! An order/packing error over Christmas was resolved within hours and an overnight delivery/courier with no questions asked; just a laser-focus on my experience as a customer. Couldn't have asked for more...class-leading service from a classy act. Thanks again, Simon

It was a nice experience visiting and learning all about the Chase Distillery and its products . The tour was really informative and up to the point . We even tasted the elegant chase gin with mediterranean fever tree tonic . Thank you James ( ambassador) for the nice journey in Chase world .

Incredible distillery tour, Bethan was terrific, a fountain of knowledge and a true brand ambassador. We walked out with five bottles and a smile on our faces—the perfect family outing. 😁

Hereford Cathedral

Mentioned on
Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Hereford Cathedral, a historic church in the CofE, was rebuilt by the Normans after being destroyed by Welsh attackers. Over time, it underwent various architectural changes. The main attraction is the Mappa Mundi, a remarkable 13th-century map on calfskin vellum that depicts an imaginative understanding of the world. It is housed in a wing that also contains Europe's largest chained library, where ancient manuscripts are secured to the shelves.
The Chain Library is a uniquely preserved historical room. Very well presented with experts at hand to answer our questions informatively. The Mappa Mundi was so worth seeing and presented in a way that made me think deeper about our ancestors and their view of the world. Thomas' tomb is worth a visit.
Julie Kempen — Google review
Very impressive structure relatively recently refurbished to an excellent standard. There is lots to see inside, difficult to explain in words as truly unique place. There is lot going on here and I don't remember seeing that many tombs in a Christian building. The cathedral is also a short walk to the high street (pedestrian area) and from there only another 5 mins to another shopping mall.
Michal Babel — Google review
A beautiful Cathedral, also known as Cathedral Church of St. Mary the Virgin and St. Ethelbert the King with the most stunning examples of stained glass windows. There is no entrance free but donation areas are there as a small encouragement but no pressure. Built by the Normans from red sandstone, it is an impressive structure that it’s in a large area of landscaped gardens where you can sit and relax. Missed the mappa mundi and chained library today so am already planning a return visit to take this tour and hopefully the tower tour.
Rosslyn Rose — Google review
Visited Hereford Cathedral today and was pleasantly surprised by the free admission! The atmosphere was majestic and serene, perfect for soaking in the rich history of this ancient site. Highlights include the fascinating Mappa Mundi and the impressive chained library. The mix of Norman and Gothic architecture adds to the charm. Definitely worth a visit, especially on a sunny day!
Alek Linkowski — Google review
Lovely place, definitely worth a visit. Tour guides and staff are very helpful and showed us to a detailed feature that can only be seen when the sun shines at a certain time of the day.
Tom Galeford — Google review
Absolutely fantastic! It's a really eye opener how beautiful the building itself is! They have wonderful staff and volunteers that are knowledgeable with the history and the stained glass! They have a little outside garden aswell as a chained library, a cafe and ceremonies there like Sunday service! It's also right in the middle of Hereford and looms over the lovely little city! 100% worth a visit!
Lee — Google review
Absolutely stunning piece of architecture, inside and out. We took a good hour walking around the inside. Unfortunately the Mappa Mundi was under restoration and the chained library was closed the day that we went. But there is still plenty to look at. Swamped in history throughout the ages. The Crypt was a nice quiet area to take a moment and sit. The café was a welcome addition and a small gift shop for a souvenir. I would definitely revisit the next opportunity I have, as I surely believe i couldn't have seen everything in one go.

Stunning building. We went in the cafe for a pot of tea. Delightful service and the courtyard was so peaceful it was hard to believe we were in the city centre. Lovely visit.
stuart bernard — Google review
My absolute favourite Cathedral in the country. The architecture is simply gorgeous, & the sundry chapels are wonderful environments for one to focus one’s mind upon God. I hope to attend an Evensong at the Cathedral some day, & strongly recommend anyone in Hereford, whether Christian or not, to stop by to look around or attend a service.
Thomas Nusrich — Google review
An amazing place and a 'must-see' for any visitors who love history, architecture and fine craftsmanship. It's possible to wander around at your own pace admiring the statues, screens, stained glass and choir stalls. The carvings there are exquisite. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time - alas, there's never enough time to see everything. Very helpful, friendly Cathedral staff on hand to answer any queries. An excellent experience.
J Read — Google review
Free admission, which was a nice surprise. A really historic and interesting cathedral that is accessible and full of information. However, the old world map was overpriced for our liking, so we passed on that. Disregarding that, though, a great and interesting cathedral, even for non-religious people like ourselves.
kevin t rowland — Google review
Really worth visiting.Amazing architecture, unique relics. Mapa mundi and the chain library are quite special
Cristina Tomescu (QUANTUM COACHING) — Google review
Beautiful, probably the most visually stunning cathedral we have visited. Lovely, warm & welcoming staff, wish I had spent more time here, lots to see and take in. A very special place, calming on the senses. Mappa Mundi & changed library viewing reopens 24th Jan so we didn't get to see it, another time I hope. Glad the heaters were on 😏

Awesome. Historically interesting. Peaceful. Amazing architecture, stonework, woodwork, stained glass windows, flooring. Mappa Mundi.
Graeme Spokes — Google review
Hereford Cathedral is the home of some of the oldest and some say most important documents of map making, law, and literature. It is home to the map of mundi and the Magna Carta. And houses one of the largest chained libraries in England. The cathedral itself is a beautiful piece of architecture and has been maintained well through the generations of parishioners and the church. The bell tower is amazing and is open periodically throughout the week. There are a few car parks nearby within a short walk to the cathedral.
MJ Doggett — Google review
A wonderful place! Easy to walk to from Wye car park. Fascinating guided tour for just £6. Mappa Mundi and Chained Library amazing. Stunning history. Well worth a visit.

Arrived in Hereford, and met our very good guide Phil. Hereford is a lovely city and well worth a visit, a lovely mix of old and new. We visited the Cathedral, saw Elgar's statue. Well worth a visit
LINDA GRAHAM — Google review
Magnificent Cathedral which seems to play an integral part in the local community. The architecture is breath-taking from ground level but you can on certain days, also take a walk up to the tower which unfortunately wasn't open when we visited. You can venture down into the crypt which is also interesting. Fantastic setting and just minutes away from a lovely little cobbled street with lots of coffee shops and boutiques. Absolutely worth a visit and free to enter.
Sue — Google review
Fantastic day out. Visit Mappa mundi and chained library £7.50. Lots of information with great guides to answer any questions. Pay for guided tour of cathedral which operate at 11am and 2.15pm and last 1 hour cost £6. Perhaps focussed on modern history more than early history but definitely worth doing. Pay at cathedral shop. Great cafe. Park on St Martins car park £1 per hour. Lots of spaces and nice short walk over the Wye bridge to the cathedral.
Carol Morris — Google review
Hereford Cathedral is one of a number of cathedrals that are free to enter. Which enables all to visit. There is a charge to visit the mappa mundi and chained library. The cathedral houses the shrine of St Thomas Cantilope. And war memorial to the nearby SAS Regiment. The cathedral is a quiet peaceful place.
Christopher J Keeffe — Google review
A really lovely cathedral, full of medival and more modern artifacts, well worth spending time here
andrew Oakland — Google review
Historical and beautiful cathedral with an incredible interior. Mappa Mundi and the chain library are accessible for 6 GBP per person through the gift shop and cafe.
Pak-Ming Wan — Google review
A very well maintained cathedral which has lots of interesting features to look out for whilst walking around the building. It has a very calming and relaxing feel as any church should. The cathedral also includes a very small gift shop, as well as a cafe. Definitely worth a visit and also remember to leave a donation.
Antony Davies — Google review
Loved this historic cathedral in Hereford. The outside curve gives a great path of historic dates and events, leading you into a massive and impressive historic cathedral with massive arches and history buried in the walls next to you. It's a great place to sit and contemplate life, and to give thanks.

A beautiful cathedral with marvellous architecture and rich history. Entrance is free. Visited in early February and was not very crowded.

Monkland Cheese Dairy is a charming cafe and shop that offers freshly made soup, homemade bread, high-quality cheese, and delicious cakes. The staff is friendly and helpful in this beautiful oasis. The shop boasts an excellent collection of local produce that makes for perfect gifts. This dairy farm also serves great coffee in proper cups rather than the oversized mugs commonly used by Americans. Monkland Cheese Dairy provides good old-fashioned service with interesting staff who are always happy to engage in conversation.
Went back to the Monkland Cheesemaking Café & Farm Shop. We had ad a magnificent Blue Cheese Ploughman’s and a fantastic Ham & Chutney roll. Bought more cheese than is healthy and washed it all down with 2 amazing Cappuccinos. The staff were super helpful and know their cheeses and are happy to let you sample. It really is a destination shop… give it a look.
Mick Foote — Google review
Great ploughman's lunch! We also really enjoyed choosing some cheese to take home with us. It's was fun trying before buying. The service was excellent; we felt comfortable saying no after trying a cheese that we didn't wish to take home. Worthwhile for all fans for cheese.
Simon Jones — Google review
If you love cheese you will love this place. A great range of cakes and a very good cup of tea.
Paul Bennett — Google review
What a find! Such a lovely welcome. Delicious selection of cakes and a little Brown Betty of proper leaf tea and delicate china tea cups. Just perfect. The ladies behind the counter were so welcoming it was a lovely experience. Not to mention the cheeses.....! We'll definitely be back! Thank you so much.
Susan Stone — Google review
Great little oasis for a cuppa and cake and home made cheeses. Great place to stop and good old fashioned service and coffee served in proper cups not like the huge double handed monstrous mugs the Americans serve up. Fab... Staff so friendly and interesting to talk to
Haydn Court — Google review
Saw a brochure for the place. We love cheese and thought we would have a look. Having cuppers and cakes that were great. The cheese variety was amazing. We had the most amazingly helpful assistant who helped us taste cheeses. We took 2 back to the campsite and enjoyed them later that evening. It's worth a visit we will return when back in the area. We wish your new cheese maker well and hope to try his makes next time.
Angie Slater — Google review
Happened to accidentally stumble across this gorgeous little shop and was so impressed! We just bought a couple of the Monkland cheeses to buy and they were absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back
Jessica Fielding — Google review
Visited twice in 3 years. Staff super friendly and helpful. Allowed my father who is less able to stand to sit in front of cheese counter and spent 15 minutes talking us through options and giving tasters. Had a ploughmans and cheese scone in the cafe and bought lots of cheese to take home. Delicious!
Marc Ronnie — Google review
What could be more perfect. A country cottage is attached to a cheese maker. A cup of tea. A toasted teacake slathered in Dragon butter. The sun shining. Good service and surroundings. The cheese ain't bad either. It's worth a stop.
Keith Miller — Google review
An absolutely beautiful little cafe and shop. We had a delicious lunch of soup with bread and cheese. The cheese is delicious and high quality, the bread is homemade and all of the food is very fresh. The cakes are also lovely, and the staff are helpful and friendly. The shop is well stocked with high quality local produce, and is a great place to buy gifts!

The Black and White Museum, situated in a 17th-century timber-framed building, provides a glimpse into life during the Jacobean era. Visitors can explore period furnishings and engage in children-friendly activities. The museum allows you to dress up in costumes from that time period, offering an immersive experience. Additionally, the Hereford Museum and Art Gallery is worth visiting as it houses local artworks and historical artifacts.
Friendly chatty guys working there. Very interesting old house, fascinating history . A gem in the centre of Hereford.

Took my grandson. He enjoyed the dressing up and finding the clues for the Easter quiz. I would have liked to have been able to read abit more about the house but had my hands full 😉. Staff friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my visit.
Gillian Mazonas (GillMaz) — Google review
Interesting displays of an era when the house was alive and functioning with its occupants. We got free admission as students. There are free postcards too. And of course the stairs and floors are squeaky due to old age of the house.
Yamin Ohmar — Google review
A museum of the history of Hereford and especially of the people who called this building home. A wonderful seventeenth century timber clad house with 3 storeys and a central staircase. Not just a museum to look at the exhibits, but also to try clothes of the Jacobean period and try out the beds and chairs. It is the last building still standing out of a whole row. The custodian of the museum was a chatty, friendly fellow. Small entrance fee of £3.50 for each adult is fair, and you can stay and peruse as long as you like, also has a small gift shop. Well worth a visit.
Tracy Matthews — Google review
Lovely hands on museum and fantastic piece of history
Helen McDowell — Google review
Charming museum in a well preserved 17th century house. The entry fee is very reasonable along with the size lends itself to being able to have a quick look around the rooms or take your time exploring. The rooms are well laid out to show what life might have been like when lived in, the kids especially enjoyed the interactive parts like dressing up. If in Hereford area it's definitely worth a visit.

Unfortunately it was surrounded by scaffolding BUT well worth a visit. Staff friendly and knowledgeable; lots of information and artifacts.

At £3.50 for an adult and kids go free. You can be as quick as want , or Take Your Time, and a trip back in time inside this wonderful museum and see how they used to live..As my kids pointed out, no bathroom, showers or radiators . It really is worth a visit, and staff are very friendly and helpful to any questions. Thankyou for our visit.

A little gem in the middle of a modern shopping street (pedestrianised). The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. I do encourage you to stop and ask staff questions and read the literature that is available to get the most out of the visit. Visit should last about one hour over three floors. Ground floor I found the most interesting. Parking is via a local council run car park which is 5minute walk to the museum.

Experience the captivating allure of Weir Garden, a remarkable riverside sanctuary graced by the majestic River Wye. This cherished site has long served as a recreational haven for angling, boating, and swimming, prioritizing an eco-conscious approach to foster a diverse wildlife habitat. Affiliated with the National Trust and nestled west of Hereford in Herefordshire, this idyllic ten-acre garden promises tranquility and respite from the demands of daily life.
Beautiful gardens in any weather, the area down by the river is stunning, also from the top of the hill, the veiw of the river is great for any photographer, snowdrops everywhere also lots of Birds to be seen. I would definitely recommend a visit, free carpark and a £7:50 entrance fee per adult.
Ian Leverton — Google review
This garden has wonderful views of the River Wye. It is also interesting to walk around too. It is not a formal garden but has a rockery and delightful walks through the woods. Away from the main gardens there is a walled garden which is currently undergoing refurbishment but still worth a visit Visitor facilities are a little basic. There is just a ticket office and toilets but no café.
Paul Hallgarth — Google review
A quiet walk round the gardens for a moment of reflection. Lovely views from the top of the gardens, looking down to the river Wye. Quite a few families with their children and people with their dogs, which was lovely to see. Don't forget to look round the beautiful walled gardens which are on the left of the grassed car park and well worth a visit.
Sara Darby — Google review
Lovely small garden to visit. £6 entry to non members. Parking is free. Small play area with ropes and rope swing. Details about various plants and trees. Interesting find of some Roman building There is a small bird hide. Walk across the carpark to the walled garden. We visited in August and it was in bloom. Apple tree, pear tree and grape vines in the greenhouse. Not a large area to visit but nice for a picnic as there are lots of spots to sit and eat.
Annette Castle — Google review
A lovely place near the river wye to look around. Worth going if you are an NT member and you're in the area. Very small grounds. Interesting plants and great trees. There is a green area with deckchairs to relax and activities for kids. The walled garden accross from the car park is very pretty in spring /summer.
Toby robson — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit. The Weir Gardens are on the River Wye and the easy to follow walk gives plenty of lovely views of the River. There are several seats around the walk to sit and enjoy the view and a picnic if you wish. The toilets are clean but there was no food or drink available (14/06/21) hence 4 stars rather than 5. There's also a walled kitchen garden to wander around.
Clive T — Google review
Had a lovely walk here last weekend, really beautiful views of the river and the gardens. I also really loved the walled garden here too, lots of plants and vegetables being grown that you can look at as well as a greenhouse you can go in. There are toilets here but no cafe or shop which we knew about before we arrived.
Charlotte Reese — Google review
Always a tranquil and beautiful place to visit. The greenhouse has had a wonderful restoration project. The daffodils were so pretty.
Debra Jones — Google review
Just outside Hereford sits this wonderful little National trust garden and walk. The Weir Garden is a beautiful walk alongside the river Wye that meanders along the bankside and past the old Manor house, now a nursing home, but beautiful all the same. At the entrance is a sizable carpark and a wonderful little picnic area. There is also a small welcome center, and the lady on duty when we visited was very enthusiastic about the area and very polite and helpful. Along the walk we came across mini hidden gardens, a Nymphorium, a bird watch, an old boathouse, ( now an Otters home) and some ancient trees. There is even a play area for the kids.
Weekend Wildness — Google review
A lovely place to walk and picnic with the lovely surroundings of Herefordshire and the river Wye. A few Roman remains scatter the walkways throughout the 40 min stroll. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues are there are steep slopes with tree roots slicing throughout the paths. Steep steps add to the many problems. There is an area for those less mobile, stated it is an easy pace but I took this route and found that this was not really that easy, although possible with a mobility aid it still comprised a few steep slopes. The walled garden, which was accessable through old wooden doors and on flatter ground was in the opposite direction consisted of a large old greenhouse with selections of fruits and vegetables and the outside walls had wire fed fruit trees which surrounded a large plot of seasonal vegetables. A few flowers were also scattered around. Three stars were given due to the name Wier Garden as maybe giving a bit of a misconception of actually having gardens with flowers, bushes etc but these were not present as the name suggests. Saying that a lovely place to picnic and have a stroll.
Adam Moriarty — Google review
A nice place to visit for a peaceful river walk. There are some great old trees and well-described small garden features like the Japanese spot. You can get down to the river side in good conditions. Good views from the higher part. You can see most of it in an hour and could take a picnic to eat on the grass or benches. There is a lovely walled garden which was full of wild flowers during our August visit.
Tom Dupplaw — Google review
A nice walk around. Can be a little hilly, so probably not wheelchair accessible. It isn't a long visit. 30 minutes for most people I guess, but why not bring a picnic. There's a kids play area at one end

The Bookshop is a modern british restaurant that offers delicious food and stylish surroundings. The menu features local ingredients and award-winning Sunday roasts, making it the perfect place to stop for a meal.
I was recommended this place by a friend of mine, and what a great place this is! A nice welcome upon arrival AND dog friendly! I had my dood, George, with me and he loved it too. A very nicely decorated premises; I sat outside with my dog as the weather was so nice. I ordered brunch through the QR code on the table and it was very easy to follow and pay via the online menu. I had eggs Benedict with bacon and it was delicious, the poached eggs were cooked perfectly, as was everything else. Would highly recommend The Bookstore, and I will definitely return myself.

10/10 experience courtesy of Georgina, Rory and Martha. Ordered the Picahna medium rare and it came out perfect. One of the nicest steaks i’ve had in a very long time! The atmosphere was sensational with 100% recommend coming here any day of the week.

Cafe by day, restaurant by night, the bookshop is such a vibrant and lively place, with loads of personality and character. The staff matched the tone, being very helpful and took good care of us! The menu was diverse and interesting, veering away from just avo and eggs, although the food, in only mine and not my partners opinion, was just slightly under par from my expectations of such a popular and highly-rated place. The smoothies and drinks were perfect that being said, with a good variety of specials too. We had a blast, and will come back next time we’re in Hereford no doubt!

Friendly attentive service and lovely food. The venison carpaccio was beautiful, the steak and ale pie both tender and rich in flavor while the dark chocolate pudding somehow had a touch of decadence without being overly sweet - all at a very reasonable price for the quality of the food.

The Stockton Cross is a lovely old pub with friendly staff, good food, and the option to tweak meals or ask for certain sauces, dips or coulis to come separately. It's no problem to do so which is always nice. The pub is located on holiday and was recommended to us - we would definitely go back!
Under new management, thank god. Went to have a meal, and the bar was pretty full with loud music playing in the background . So everyone was shouting above the music. We sat at our table and couldn't hear ourselves speak. We decided to leave. The server came to take our order, and we explained the situation to her. She took immediate control and said I'll sort that out for you. Within a minute, the music had been turned right down . The people in the bar stopped shouting and started talking, and the noise level came right down. We then ordered our meal, which came in quick time. Beautifully cooked and most enjoyable. Kudos to the server. Will certainly be going back.

Lovely old pub, friendly staff. Good food, would have preferred more choice of potato options however the chips were very good even though they wouldn't have been my first choice specifically with main options being beef or belly pork. On the plus side it was no problem to tweak our meals or ask for certain sauces, dips or coulis to come separately which is always nice to have the option. Would go again.

Friendly pub with good restaurant attached. Food was very good with lots of choice. Portions were generous. Full of locals contributing to a good ambience. Landlady & Landlord were friendly and Stowford the Newfoundland dog even friendlier. Would definitely recommend for a nice stopover between Leominster & Northern points.

Booked a table for an early (not open for lunch on the actual day)celebratory birthday lunch. Was a bit disappointed that the lunch time menu seemed to be light bites and snacks only, this being at odds with the website. However enquired of dinner menu and was told that this would be available. Result! The two young ladies behind the bar were brilliant, a real asset to our experience. The speed of service and their attentiveness deserves special mention. My starter was a superb combination meats, salad and bread roll, enough to rein in the hunger pangs light enough to leave room for the main even. A very decent steak, mushrooms, tomatoes and chunky chips, a proper plate full which I thoroughly enjoyed. My wife's dessert, a chocolate and raspberry mouse was not an afterthought on a plate but a beautifully presente sensible portion of tastiness. Well done The Stockton Cross and your staff. Thank you.

A C16 drivers inn that I hadn"t visited since the late 1990's with my girlfriend at the time. The present landlord hasn't been in residence that long either. The food portions are generous for the price. I didn't eat again that day. This was at lunchtime. I wish them every success. These historic inns need to be used & preserved. Grade II listed.

DO NOT USEONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM, THEY HAVE NO CHEF. we had a call whilst in transit on Mothers Day to say there was an error, and they hadn't used open table for bookings for 'sometime'. They let us know 40 minutes before our table time. We booked it weeks ago. Very, very poor. I see from other people this has been happening since September last year? Seems to me someone should sort it out properly. very disappointing and I would have had time to book something else if they had let me know at the time.

Warm welcome from Andy and Stowford with a roaring fire place. Good selection of local ales and ciders plus an array of gins, whiskeys and rums to suit all tastes. Food was fantastic, best (and biggest meal) for weeks. Large car park at rear.

On holiday and we were recommended the Stockton Cross. We were greeted by super friendly staff and managed to get a sunny table in garden. We ordered rarebit and the lamb shoulder. 10/10 would love to come back again.

Great Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Pub not busy, staff friendly. Dishes were great value and tasty. Great yorkshire puddings.

Food was average and basic menu. Fish and chips at £17 wasn't worth it. Team serving were lovely and very attentive. Place was very cold as no log fires lit !

Lovely old half timbered pub. We visited here for lunch on our way to Berrington Hall. It has a cosy atmosphere and was busy when we arrived. We had a warm and courteous welcome and settled down with a drink to look at the menu which changes on an almost daily basis. There were only 5-6 choices for each course and we fancied everything on the starter menu. I had the cauliflower cheese soup with crusty bread and butter and my wife had the tempura king prawns. These were both delicious. The tempura batter was wonderfully light and the prawns were HUGE. We then chose Herefordshire beef burgers from the main menu. These were topped with nicely cooked streaky bacon and melted cheese and served in a brioche bun filled with salad and sliced dill pickles. I had mine with dry fluffy fries and my wife opted for chunky chips which she declared extremely good. We were too full for a pudding which was a pity as they all sounded very appealing. The only slight disappointment was that the coffee machine was out of order. The staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. All in all a very pleasant experience and one that we would happily repeat.

One of the best Italian restaurant in hereford. We have pre book a seat and we have to pre book the dishes which we like to try. The restaurant is managed by a very good couple. They are the only staff in the restaurant and they do take care of the customers very well. The dishes which me and my colleagues had was very nice. Unfortunately i dont know the name of the food what we had, but there was an Italian friend of mine who ordered the food. The food was really tasty. There is limited no of seats and if you really want to try this restaurant then be sure to make a reservation before you go because it is always full. My star ratings for. ⭐️ Excellent Food ⭐️ ⭐️ Cleanliness ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Excellent customer service ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Excellent choices of wines ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Ambience & Decoration

Great atmosphere, fully booked at 7 on Saturday. Service was excellent, attentive without being too in your face. Food was delicious. You do have to order your main in advance, the day before, but that is no trouble. House wine was also of a good quality. Decent value for money.

The impressive reviews about this restaurant did not disappoint! I was looking for a romantic, unique, and intimate restaurant to enjoy an evening celebrating my partner's birthday. Italy is close to our hearts so I wanted to authentic, delicious food which was slightly different from normal Italian cuisine (such as pizza, pasta, etc). Leo, the host, was incredibly polite and attentive and we pre-ordered the courses so upon arrival, the food arrived so quickly - it felt like a seamless experience. The food itself was absolutely incredible. The use of diverse and interesting flavours/ingredients made for a really exciting cuisine experience. I highly recommend the burrata, melon, chili, and honey starter (or main) - a somewhat unusual combination of ingredients but flavours that are undeniably fantastic! Although the restaurant was busy, the host still took the time to explain his Italian heritage and story behind the restaurant. Highly recommend this place for a romantic evening, or with friends/family. Thanks for a wonderful experience Leo at Ponte Vecchio.

Honestly the most delicious Italian food we have tasted, the garlic bread was 10/10 and we feel that nothing will top it! You can feel the hard work and love that goes into the business which makes the experience even better. This is the second time we have been here and we will continue to come back when visiting Hereford!

The restaurant is easy to find, the place itself is cozy, not so big but nice and therefore the staff is super friendly and customer focused. We enjoyed the evening with great food prepared right aways after ordering, the quality of the food was great and the pairing wines too. All in all was great evening thanks to the staff and great food we had at Ponte Vecchio.

Fabulous evening last night! Wonderful food and excellent service from a lovely couple. We were a table of 17 with a list of horrendous allergies and intolerances! All perfectly executed and beyond expectation. Can’t wait to visit again next time we are in Hereford.

Had a lovely meal here on New Year's Eve. We were a table of 8, and the service and food were outstanding. I'm not sure how he does it, but one man, I believe the owner runs front of house and is wife/partner cooks. (Rumour has it) Anyway, it's a well-oiled machine. I had Duck with winter leaves for starters and the Beef Ragu for main, both absolutely delicious. Thanks for a great meal, "Top Notch"

We had an incredible 3 course meal created by the chef, Alice! My meal was created gluten free, which they’d prepared ingredients for in advance! To eat a gluten free, incredible, authentic Italian meal was such an amazing enjoyable experience! I would recommend Ponte Vecchio to anyone and will be looking forward to returning to try more of Alice’s inspiring menu!

Come prepared for a big meal! I had the beefy boy burger with 6oz patty along with bacon fries. Awesome stuff. Other had the chili chips, plain fries and millionaire fries. All worth it. Oh and don’t forget the deep fried macaroni cheese!

You know that scene in Happy Gilmore where Chubbs tells Happy to go to his "Happy Place"? For me and my wife Beefy Boys is the embodiment of just that. We stumbled across this restaurant by chance two years ago, and have now made 3 four hour round trips to Hereford specifically to come to this restaurant, the burgers are simply that good. Fantastic food combined with cool 90s Hip-hop beats and excellent service, you really cannot go wrong with this restaurant. I'd recommend the pastrami boy, best burger I've eve had. Every burger is always so tasty and juicy, you're going to want to try the whole menu!

The burger I had was the blue boy and it goes into my top 3 burgers. I had jalapeño poppers on the side which were super fresh and tasty. I need to visit the other 2 restaurants it was that good. Booking advised.

Lovely restaurant in the center of Hereford. A popular one, busy and the staff seem to be quite frantic, the seating layout means that servers are rushing past you constantly. Food was great, had a chicken burger with an extra add on of an egg. Got regular fries. Companion had a smashed beef burger with the truffle fries. Both meals were really good, very very filling. Good restaurant if you're local, we saw a birthday celebration while were there too so clearly they cater to occasions. Worth a visit if you're passing through.

Delicious burger made from quality ingredients. You definitely appreciate the passion of the guys who started this place as a stall, and their commitment to using fine, tasty, locally sourced produce. Nice friendly welcome, good beers, unctuous ice cream for dessert.

We saw this restaurant on the TV and just knew we had to go and try it. It was definitely worth it. The restaurant is amazing with a really great atmosphere. Our waitress, Thea, was friendly and attentive even with the restaurant being mega busy. I've got to say it was the best burger we have ever had. We both had the Dirty Boy Burger with Bacon Fries. Tasty, juicy and full of flavour. We will definitely be visiting again. Just make sure you book before you go so you won't be disappointed.

Best of the best. A sincere and superior burger! Great dining experience, great team! If this place was on my doorstep, my health would be suffering! Been three times and not found another burger restaurant that match this quality in the country so far! This place is a phenomena 👌🏽

Superb burgers as always. Service fast and cheerful. Food served quickly and hot. We went for the Rude boy, Bacon burger and bacon fries. With a chocolate and banana milkshake. Completely stuffed, but Completely satisfied

Took my husband here for his birthday recently, he’d been wanting to go for a while and we weren’t disappointed. Really good burgers, I had the Oklahoma onion boy and it was spot on. The pastrami fries were incredible too and definitely big enough to share between 2 or 3. The chicken wings weren’t great but everything else made up for that. Staff were all lovely even though it was busy, convenient location with indoor parking next door. Would recommend booking because we got there 1pm on a Saturday and I was thinking probably be quiet but luckily we did book because there was a queue at the door and they were turning people away. If we’re in the area again we’ll be back :)

We came after seeing the restaurant on tv, we drove an extra 3 hours just to come here. AND IT WAS WORTH IT! Amazing food, the burgers were the best we have ever had. The chips were delicious and the milkshakes were perfect. I wish you guys were in Kent! 100% recommend to anyone.

I was so looking forward to this one. It was nice but wasn't the 'WOW' that I was expecting. Chips was like mcdonalds fries , chicken wings were cold, jalapeño poppers were dry as anything. The burger was good but not amazin as I was hoping it was going to be. Considering how much food we all had the price wasn't too bad. Kids meals are good, nice variety of options on everything.

Was visiting Hereford for the time first and looked online at restaurants to take my boyfriend too for his birthday. This place instantly stood out and I’m so glad I booked it! From start to finish the service was amazing. They acknowledged it was his birthday and made it really special. The food was fab loved the pizza boy burger. Would defiantly visit again if I come to this area again. Thanks guys 😊

Booked in for a meal with my partner for our anniversary, we were seated quickly and given a complimentary cocktail for the occasion which was lovely! Service was excellent (thank you to Martin for taking good care of us!) and the food was fantastic, really reasonably priced for the quality, can’t wait to come back!

This was the single best experience of eating a burger for me. The staff firstly were superb. Secondly the atmosphere felt chilled but vibrant and lastly the food. I didn't want to but into hype, seeing as I've eaten enough burgers in my time to sink a small warship. But this bacon boy burger was simply put, food heaven. The meat cooked precisely how I love it, the cheese soft and gooey, the bacon deliciously crisp . The bun was a pillow of delight. All side orders were epic as well. Joking and silly descriptive words aside. Book this restaurant, it'll be one of the best decisions you've made.

Starting Gate Beefeater is a popular pub-style chain that offers a diverse menu of grilled meats and international dishes, including fajitas. Since its establishment in 1974, the brand has expanded to over 140 locations across the UK and has gained recognition for its famous grills and friendly customer service. The restaurant serves mouth-watering steaks, fresh fish, and appetizing salads at affordable prices.
Visited for Sunday lunch. Got in before the busy time of 1 pm onwards and found the service was very good, prompt but not rushed. Food was all very good, nice and hot and of good quality. Even my mother, who is a bit on the picky side, couldn't find anything to grumble about. After 1 p.m., the place filled up quickly, which would, of no doubt, slowed things down for a bit. Al in all,a very enjoyable visit.

have never in my life eat a more disgusting food!!!!! I paid 45£ for frozen food, the steak was horrible i see a lot of good reviews that said "delicious, good food" what the heck is wrong with you people????? A bunch of peas and a piece of tasteless meat that means delicious food???????? When the waitress came with my boyfriend food she drop the steak knife on the floor and she just let it there and didn't brought a new one.I have received a bowl of no idea what that was but definetly was looking like my dog puke.I ordered a " absolut vanilla vodka with fresh strawberry", in the picture was looking so good but i have received 70% ice 29% juice and 1% vodka and the fresh strawberry in my dream!! Please don't waste your money on this s""t "restaurant

Went for a Sunday dinner, the gammon was lovely. Chicken was bland and the gravy was thin but my personal preference is thicker gravy. Great selection of veg but the carrots had been steamed for a bit too long. Desserts were delicious and the drinks were nice outside of that.

Stayed at the Premier Inn next door for a couple of nights. It appears to be very quiet here these days compared to memories of around 5 years ago. Visited just for drinks during our stay at the hotel on each occasion a long wait to be served at the bar. The bar and restaurant were almost empty. We were blanked by staff who were maybe unable to serve? They stood around the other side of the bar, preening. But to be not even acknowledged left us with a bad feeling. Lots of empty glasses left on empty tables. Ok for a quick local drink while staying at the hotel but I wouldn't recommend more.

Overall, the food was good, but it could have been a lot better, we ordered from the Feative Menu. Our starter Camembert en croute wasn't quite cooked enough to fully melt the cheese & the puff pastry out was a bit soggy. We'd had exactly the same started in a different Beefeater on Christmas Eve, which was cooked properly. After quite a wait, ouf fillet Steak Wellington main course arrived. Again, it was very good, but the Red wine & and pancetta sause that accompanied the meal was almost cold (like it had been left to get cold) which we didn't realise until we'd poured it over the food. This once again detracted from what should have been a good meal. Service was good. Will try again when passing through Hereford.

Really friendly service, nice food and attentive staff. We stayed at the premier inn across the road from The Starting Gate. We needed some heated milk to help our baby daughter go off to sleep and the barman was happy to oblige. In the morning, we went across for breakfast which was great. Lots of choice and a nice atmosphere! Would visit again.

Very well located....the place is lit up beautifully....Food & drinks are average....avoid the double crunch burger, was dry and overcooked. Our seats were dirty and worn out. Apart from that the staff are very friendly & excellent service. Great place for a quick bite.

The good thing about Beefeater is that their menu and the food are always the same wherever you go. However... Unfortunately this one was not without its problems. The first evening service was slow. Very slow. One coke, one burger and one coffee took 1 hour 45 minutes. I don't want to blame the staff, who knows if there was a problem or not but that's just a fact. Breakfast the next morning and the coffee machine was broken! I skipped dinner that evening not wanting to chance my arm and went straight to the breakfast the next morning. Yay, the coffee machine was working, but now the toaster was on the fritz! Still, other than all that, it was ok. The waitresses were polite and friendly and I know that stuff breaking down is not their fault but I'm not reviewing them, I'm reviewing my experience and it wasn't one of the better Beefeater experiences I've had.

This was the worst meal, I have had in years!!! I’m disabled and even though this was mentioned when booking we were left standing for 14 minutes and totally ignored my husband had to get me a chair - then while there was a nearby table I was taken to the other end of the room - the waitress was dis interested and dis missive! The food was lukewarm and swimming in grease (well mine was). The portions have shrunk and I waited another 17 minutes for a drink and 25 minutes from ordering for our food to appear on cold plates - not happy at all - yes, we weee just about to walk out when the food appeared

Disappointing. 40 mins for appetisers which had old wilted salad on the side, the chicken was nice but not especially flavourful but at least it was hot. Hour and a half from being sat to food, was Friday night at 8 but I would have expected they would have known it was busy as fully booked so they were not exactly caught off guard. A middle aged woman had clearly had one too many glasses of bubbly in the corner and spent about a hour loudly cackling, the people next to them had to be moved. Saw multiple people get up to find the wait staff to ask where the food was which wasn't a good sign. Hour and 40 mins after being sat the food arrived. Small portion for my fiancé a small chicken breast with 1 bit of bacon and some sauce and a meager handful of chips for about £15. Mixed grill was overcooked and some was hot some was cold noticed it's a lot smaller than a few years ago despite price increases. Was tasty enough in parts but the egg was of a low quality and the steak was very well done. Asked us if we wanted desert but as it was nearly 10 I decided I'd like to be home by midnight and skipped it. The only thing the staff were quick about was taking payment.
