Lovely food here, I ordered a dish that was meant to have a bacon chop which they had run out of but I was able to swap this for steak with no issues, everything tasted incredible and the service was great

10/10 experience courtesy of Georgina, Rory and Martha. Ordered the Picahna medium rare and it came out perfect. One of the nicest steaks i’ve had in a very long time! The atmosphere was sensational with 100% recommend coming here any day of the week.

Had a lovely evening meal, most worthy. In particular the carrots, chips, monkfish and the dessert. Starters could've been better, but that's a minor issue.

Cafe by day, restaurant by night, the bookshop is such a vibrant and lively place, with loads of personality and character. The staff matched the tone, being very helpful and took good care of us! The menu was diverse and interesting, veering away from just avo and eggs, although the food, in only mine and not my partners opinion, was just slightly under par from my expectations of such a popular and highly-rated place. The smoothies and drinks were perfect that being said, with a good variety of specials too. We had a blast, and will come back next time we’re in Hereford no doubt!

I absolutely loved my experience at The Book Shop cafe! The poached eggs on toast were perfectly cooked, and my friend thoroughly enjoyed the avocado on toast. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere created a delightful dining experience. Five stars all the way!

I visited here for Sunday lunch with my friend Craig and a few others, on their recommendation. The food is delicious with excellent service and the staff are very welcoming. I had the lamb dinner with a sticky toffee pudding to follow - highly recommend. Ample seating and great atmosphere.

We had one of the best Sunday Lunches at The Bookshop. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The atmosphere was great and the service from Trinity was impeccable! It was grest value for money too. We will definitely be back.

Last minute booking as we were in Hereford for the horse racing, we were not disappointed. Fantastic food, our steaks were superb. The Malbec was a great compliment to the meal. Ollie was very accommodating and informative, he served us well and recommended after drinks. Would totally recommend this restaurant.

Came here on recommendation and saw that it allows dogs. Lovely food, great quality ingredients. Love that it’s dog friendly in the bar area too. Will definitely return again when in the area.

Friendly attentive service and lovely food. The venison carpaccio was beautiful, the steak and ale pie both tender and rich in flavor while the dark chocolate pudding somehow had a touch of decadence without being overly sweet - all at a very reasonable price for the quality of the food.

We loved the design of the space, being an interior architect I really appreciated all of the details! Then the food came out…my my what a yummy few hours we had wining and dining our way through steaks and red wine. We are really looking forward to visiting the other restaurants!

Lovely old pub, friendly staff. Good food, would have preferred more choice of potato options however the chips were very good even though they wouldn't have been my first choice specifically with main options being beef or belly pork. On the plus side it was no problem to tweak our meals or ask for certain sauces, dips or coulis to come separately which is always nice to have the option. Would go again.

Friendly pub with good restaurant attached. Food was very good with lots of choice. Portions were generous. Full of locals contributing to a good ambience. Landlady & Landlord were friendly and Stowford the Newfoundland dog even friendlier. Would definitely recommend for a nice stopover between Leominster & Northern points.

Booked a table for an early (not open for lunch on the actual day)celebratory birthday lunch. Was a bit disappointed that the lunch time menu seemed to be light bites and snacks only, this being at odds with the website. However enquired of dinner menu and was told that this would be available. Result! The two young ladies behind the bar were brilliant, a real asset to our experience. The speed of service and their attentiveness deserves special mention. My starter was a superb combination meats, salad and bread roll, enough to rein in the hunger pangs light enough to leave room for the main even. A very decent steak, mushrooms, tomatoes and chunky chips, a proper plate full which I thoroughly enjoyed. My wife's dessert, a chocolate and raspberry mouse was not an afterthought on a plate but a beautifully presente sensible portion of tastiness. Well done The Stockton Cross and your staff. Thank you.

A C16 drivers inn that I hadn"t visited since the late 1990's with my girlfriend at the time. The present landlord hasn't been in residence that long either. The food portions are generous for the price. I didn't eat again that day. This was at lunchtime. I wish them every success. These historic inns need to be used & preserved. Grade II listed.

DO NOT USEONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM, THEY HAVE NO CHEF. we had a call whilst in transit on Mothers Day to say there was an error, and they hadn't used open table for bookings for 'sometime'. They let us know 40 minutes before our table time. We booked it weeks ago. Very, very poor. I see from other people this has been happening since September last year? Seems to me someone should sort it out properly. very disappointing and I would have had time to book something else if they had let me know at the time.

Tasty and well presented meal at The Stockton Cross. Lunchtime was reasonably quiet on Friday , I recommend booking in if you are planning to come for a dinner ,evenings get a lot busier and this is a smaller pub, very welcoming and absolutely dog friendly.

Warm welcome from Andy and Stowford with a roaring fire place. Good selection of local ales and ciders plus an array of gins, whiskeys and rums to suit all tastes. Food was fantastic, best (and biggest meal) for weeks. Large car park at rear.

On holiday and we were recommended the Stockton Cross. We were greeted by super friendly staff and managed to get a sunny table in garden. We ordered rarebit and the lamb shoulder. 10/10 would love to come back again.

Food was average and basic menu. Fish and chips at £17 wasn't worth it. Team serving were lovely and very attentive. Place was very cold as no log fires lit !

Lovely old half timbered pub. We visited here for lunch on our way to Berrington Hall. It has a cosy atmosphere and was busy when we arrived. We had a warm and courteous welcome and settled down with a drink to look at the menu which changes on an almost daily basis. There were only 5-6 choices for each course and we fancied everything on the starter menu. I had the cauliflower cheese soup with crusty bread and butter and my wife had the tempura king prawns. These were both delicious. The tempura batter was wonderfully light and the prawns were HUGE. We then chose Herefordshire beef burgers from the main menu. These were topped with nicely cooked streaky bacon and melted cheese and served in a brioche bun filled with salad and sliced dill pickles. I had mine with dry fluffy fries and my wife opted for chunky chips which she declared extremely good. We were too full for a pudding which was a pity as they all sounded very appealing. The only slight disappointment was that the coffee machine was out of order. The staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. All in all a very pleasant experience and one that we would happily repeat.

The couple running the restaurant were absolutely lovely and the food was authentic and very, very tasty. The rainbow carrots absolutely blew us away in particular..!

Great atmosphere, fully booked at 7 on Saturday. Service was excellent, attentive without being too in your face. Food was delicious. You do have to order your main in advance, the day before, but that is no trouble. House wine was also of a good quality. Decent value for money.

The impressive reviews about this restaurant did not disappoint! I was looking for a romantic, unique, and intimate restaurant to enjoy an evening celebrating my partner's birthday. Italy is close to our hearts so I wanted to authentic, delicious food which was slightly different from normal Italian cuisine (such as pizza, pasta, etc). Leo, the host, was incredibly polite and attentive and we pre-ordered the courses so upon arrival, the food arrived so quickly - it felt like a seamless experience. The food itself was absolutely incredible. The use of diverse and interesting flavours/ingredients made for a really exciting cuisine experience. I highly recommend the burrata, melon, chili, and honey starter (or main) - a somewhat unusual combination of ingredients but flavours that are undeniably fantastic! Although the restaurant was busy, the host still took the time to explain his Italian heritage and story behind the restaurant. Highly recommend this place for a romantic evening, or with friends/family. Thanks for a wonderful experience Leo at Ponte Vecchio.

The food Alice cooks is fantastic and clearly homemade, the host Leo was very polite and helpful with understanding of the menu. And the whole experience was excellent. Definitely going back.

Honestly the most delicious Italian food we have tasted, the garlic bread was 10/10 and we feel that nothing will top it! You can feel the hard work and love that goes into the business which makes the experience even better. This is the second time we have been here and we will continue to come back when visiting Hereford!

The restaurant is easy to find, the place itself is cozy, not so big but nice and therefore the staff is super friendly and customer focused. We enjoyed the evening with great food prepared right aways after ordering, the quality of the food was great and the pairing wines too. All in all was great evening thanks to the staff and great food we had at Ponte Vecchio.

We were very impressed with the food and the amazing service. The flavours were very new to us, and felt like we were in Italy. I had the mushroom lasagne which was incredible.

Had a lovely meal here on New Year's Eve. We were a table of 8, and the service and food were outstanding. I'm not sure how he does it, but one man, I believe the owner runs front of house and is wife/partner cooks. (Rumour has it) Anyway, it's a well-oiled machine. I had Duck with winter leaves for starters and the Beef Ragu for main, both absolutely delicious. Thanks for a great meal, "Top Notch"

We had an incredible 3 course meal created by the chef, Alice! My meal was created gluten free, which they’d prepared ingredients for in advance! To eat a gluten free, incredible, authentic Italian meal was such an amazing enjoyable experience! I would recommend Ponte Vecchio to anyone and will be looking forward to returning to try more of Alice’s inspiring menu!

You know that scene in Happy Gilmore where Chubbs tells Happy to go to his "Happy Place"? For me and my wife Beefy Boys is the embodiment of just that. We stumbled across this restaurant by chance two years ago, and have now made 3 four hour round trips to Hereford specifically to come to this restaurant, the burgers are simply that good. Fantastic food combined with cool 90s Hip-hop beats and excellent service, you really cannot go wrong with this restaurant. I'd recommend the pastrami boy, best burger I've eve had. Every burger is always so tasty and juicy, you're going to want to try the whole menu!

The burger I had was the blue boy and it goes into my top 3 burgers. I had jalapeño poppers on the side which were super fresh and tasty. I need to visit the other 2 restaurants it was that good. Booking advised.

Lovely restaurant in the center of Hereford. A popular one, busy and the staff seem to be quite frantic, the seating layout means that servers are rushing past you constantly. Food was great, had a chicken burger with an extra add on of an egg. Got regular fries. Companion had a smashed beef burger with the truffle fries. Both meals were really good, very very filling. Good restaurant if you're local, we saw a birthday celebration while were there too so clearly they cater to occasions. Worth a visit if you're passing through.

Delicious burger made from quality ingredients. You definitely appreciate the passion of the guys who started this place as a stall, and their commitment to using fine, tasty, locally sourced produce. Nice friendly welcome, good beers, unctuous ice cream for dessert.

We saw this restaurant on the TV and just knew we had to go and try it. It was definitely worth it. The restaurant is amazing with a really great atmosphere. Our waitress, Thea, was friendly and attentive even with the restaurant being mega busy. I've got to say it was the best burger we have ever had. We both had the Dirty Boy Burger with Bacon Fries. Tasty, juicy and full of flavour. We will definitely be visiting again. Just make sure you book before you go so you won't be disappointed.

Superb burgers as always. Service fast and cheerful. Food served quickly and hot. We went for the Rude boy, Bacon burger and bacon fries. With a chocolate and banana milkshake. Completely stuffed, but Completely satisfied

Took my husband here for his birthday recently, he’d been wanting to go for a while and we weren’t disappointed. Really good burgers, I had the Oklahoma onion boy and it was spot on. The pastrami fries were incredible too and definitely big enough to share between 2 or 3. The chicken wings weren’t great but everything else made up for that. Staff were all lovely even though it was busy, convenient location with indoor parking next door. Would recommend booking because we got there 1pm on a Saturday and I was thinking probably be quiet but luckily we did book because there was a queue at the door and they were turning people away. If we’re in the area again we’ll be back :)

We came after seeing the restaurant on tv, we drove an extra 3 hours just to come here. AND IT WAS WORTH IT! Amazing food, the burgers were the best we have ever had. The chips were delicious and the milkshakes were perfect. I wish you guys were in Kent! 100% recommend to anyone.

I was so looking forward to this one. It was nice but wasn't the 'WOW' that I was expecting. Chips was like mcdonalds fries , chicken wings were cold, jalapeño poppers were dry as anything. The burger was good but not amazin as I was hoping it was going to be. Considering how much food we all had the price wasn't too bad. Kids meals are good, nice variety of options on everything.

Was visiting Hereford for the time first and looked online at restaurants to take my boyfriend too for his birthday. This place instantly stood out and I’m so glad I booked it! From start to finish the service was amazing. They acknowledged it was his birthday and made it really special. The food was fab loved the pizza boy burger. Booked in for a meal with my partner for our anniversary, we were seated quickly and given a complimentary cocktail for the occasion which was lovely! Service was excellent (thank you to Martin for taking good care of us!) and the food was fantastic, really reasonably priced for the quality, can’t wait to come back!

This was the single best experience of eating a burger for me. The staff firstly were superb. Secondly the atmosphere felt chilled but vibrant and lastly the food. I didn't want to but into hype, seeing as I've eaten enough burgers in my time to sink a small warship. But this bacon boy burger was simply put, food heaven. The meat cooked precisely how I love it, the cheese soft and gooey, the bacon deliciously crisp . The bun was a pillow of delight. All side orders were epic as well. Joking and silly descriptive words aside. Book this restaurant, it'll be one of the best decisions you've made.

have never in my life eat a more disgusting food!!!!! I paid 45£ for frozen food, the steak was horrible i see a lot of good reviews that said "delicious,good food" what the heck is wrong with you people????? A bunch of peas and a piece of tasteless meat that means delicious food???????? When the waitress came with my boyfriend food she drop the steak knife on the floor and she just let it there and didn't brought a new one.I have received a bowl of no idea what that was but definetly was looking like my dog puke.I ordered a " absolut vanilla vodka with fresh strawberry", in the picture was looking so good but i have received 70% ice 29% juice and 1% vodka and the fresh strawberry in my dream!! Please don't waste your money on this s""t "restaurant

Went for a Sunday dinner, the gammon was lovely. Chicken was bland and the gravy was thin but my personal preference is thicker gravy. Great selection of veg but the carrots had been steamed for a bit too long. Desserts were delicious and the drinks were nice outside of that.

Stayed at the Premier Inn next door for a couple of nights. It appears to be very quiet here these days compared to memories of around 5 years ago. Visited just for drinks during our stay at the hotel on each occasion a long wait to be served at the bar. The bar and restaurant were almost empty. We were blanked by staff who were maybe unable to serve? They stood around the other side of the bar, preening. But to be not even acknowledged left us with a bad feeling. Lots of empty glasses left on empty tables. Ok for a quick local drink while staying at the hotel but I wouldn't recommend more.

Overall, the food was good, but it could have been a lot better, we ordered from the Feative Menu. Our starter Camembert en croute wasn't quite cooked enough to fully melt the cheese & the puff pastry out was a bit soggy. We'd had exactly the same started in a different Beefeater on Christmas Eve, which was cooked properly. After quite a wait, ouf fillet Steak Wellington main course arrived. Again, it was very good, but the Red wine & and pancetta sause that accompanied the meal was almost cold (like it had been left to get cold) which we didn't realise until we'd poured it over the food. This once again detracted from what should have been a good meal. Service was good. Will try again when passing through Hereford.

Really friendly service, nice food and attentive staff. We stayed at the premier inn across the road from The Starting Gate. We needed some heated milk to help our baby daughter go off to sleep and the barman was happy to oblige. In the morning, we went across for breakfast which was great. Lots of choice and a nice atmosphere! Would visit again.

Very well located....the place is lit up beautifully....Food & drinks are average....avoid the double crunch burger, was dry and overcooked. Our seats were dirty and worn out. Apart from that the staff are very friendly & excellent service. Great place for a quick bite.

The good thing about Beefeater is that their menu and the food are always the same wherever you go. However... Unfortunately this one was not without its problems. The first evening service was slow. Very slow. One coke, one burger and one coffee took 1 hour 45 minutes. I don't want to blame the staff, who knows if there was a problem or not but that's just a fact. Breakfast the next morning and the coffee machine was broken! I skipped dinner that evening not wanting to chance my arm and went straight to the breakfast the next morning. Yay, the coffee machine was working, but now the toaster was on the fritz! Still, other than all that, it was ok. The waitresses were polite and friendly and I know that stuff breaking down is not their fault but I'm not reviewing them, I'm reviewing my experience and it wasn't one of the better Beefeater experiences I've had.

I came in for breakfast, there was a lovely atmosphere. Karen and Kirsten, Were very nice and provided an amazing experience. I would recommend people to come in for breakfast any day of the week.

Popped in for a bite to eat on the way past. Service was quick and the food was great. I can recommend the kitkat sundae,it was excellent! Will be popping in again soon

This was the worst meal, I have had in years!!! I’m disabled and even though this was mentioned when booking we were left standing for 14 minutes and totally ignored my husband had to get me a chair - then while there was a nearby table I was taken to the other end of the room - the waitress was dis interested and dis missive! The food was lukewarm and swimming in grease (well mine was). The portions have shrunk and I waited another 17 minutes for a drink and 25 minutes from ordering for our food to appear on cold plates - not happy at all - yes, we weee just about to walk out when the food appeared

Disappointing. 40 mins for appetisers which had old wilted salad on the side, the chicken was nice but not especially flavourful but at least it was hot. Hour and a half from being sat to food, was Friday night at 8 but I would have expected they would have known it was busy as fully booked so they were not exactly caught off guard. A middle aged woman had clearly had one too many glasses of bubbly in the corner and spent about a hour loudly cackling, the people next to them had to be moved. Saw multiple people get up to find the wait staff to ask where the food was which wasn't a good sign. Hour and 40 mins after being sat the food arrived. Small portion for my fiancé a small chicken breast with 1 bit of bacon and some sauce and a meager handful of chips for about £15. Mixed grill was overcooked and some was hot some was cold noticed it's a lot smaller than a few years ago despite price increases. Was tasty enough in parts but the egg was of a low quality and the steak was very well done. Asked us if we wanted desert but as it was nearly 10 I decided I'd like to be home by midnight and skipped it. The only thing the staff were quick about was taking payment.

Food is generally good quality, but prices are a little dearer than most.
