Normandy American Cemetery

Sights & Landmarks
The Normandy American Cemetery is a solemn burial ground for American soldiers who lost their lives during World War II. Visitors can explore the site's visitor center, which features exhibits and films about the war. The cemetery is famous for its appearance in the movie Saving Private Ryan, where Captain John H. Miller's grave can be seen. It is a beautiful and moving memorial that serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by brave soldiers who fought for freedom on these beaches.
Amazing and beautiful cemetery and memorial. Must see when in France. Take some time and go through the visitor center first and go downstairs and read the history of the invasion. Go down to the beach and walk on the sand our young troops died on for freedom 🇺🇸

It was the first time visiting such a large memorial for fallen soldiers of WW2. It was a very moving experience to think that our modern freedom is only possible thanks to the sacrifice of these soldiers. It felt like I was paying my respects for what I'm able to experience today. The place is incredibly well maintained and there's a few maps that tell the story behind the landing of Normandy. It is absolutely a place to visit during your stay in Normandy.

Beautiful cemetery and memorial that really lets you visualize the magnitude of the sacrifice these troops made. The lowering of the flag at 5:00pm is a sight to see and experience. There are signs that ask visitors to be respectful and quiet so keep that in mind because some were loudly laughing and yelling around the cemetery.
Adam Greyson — Google review
It’s free to enter and I highly recommend coming here as an American. It’s a humbling experience to see the hero’s who died during WWII. They have a documentary playing in the hall and lots to learn. It’s also amazing to see the employees keeping this area clean and beautiful. It does get chilly during off season so bring a jacket or two. They have some areas blocked off but they’re sections you can walk to read the names of the soldiers.

‘For your sacrifice, for our freedom. Thankyou’ A place that really makes you think. Thinking that if it weren't for these fighters, we wouldn't be here today. A beautiful tribute to all soldiers. The site is maintained with great respect and the grass may not be entered. Here you get really quiet. Before we went to visit the cemetery, we passed ohama beach. If you don't know much about it, I recommend that you watch the movie 'Saving Private Ryan' before you go there. An impressive display of what happened on the beaches that day. Definitely worth visiting and thinking about life. Thinking how lucky we are today.

It is a very surreal experience to walk up to this cemetery. The land is enormous and when you really start reading the markers it does hit you how many people died in a short time frame. Books will never replace the true history and historic places as this. It is a must see when you are in France. Very well taken care of, lots of parking, and facilities.

The American Cemetery in Normandy and Omaha Beach are both incredibly significant historical sites. The American Cemetery is a solemn and moving place, serving as the final resting place for thousands of American soldiers who lost their lives during the D-Day invasion. Walking through the rows of white crosses and Stars of David is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom. Omaha Beach, located nearby, was one of the primary landing sites on D-Day. It was a crucial part of the Allied invasion and marked a turning point in World War II. Stepping foot on Omaha Beach allows you to imagine the bravery and determination of the soldiers who stormed its shores. Visiting these sites provides a profound understanding of the magnitude of the war and the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom. It's a humbling and emotional experience that leaves a lasting impact. Make sure to pay your respects and take a moment to reflect on the incredible bravery and sacrifice displayed on these hallowed grounds. 🇺🇸

Beautiful and moving cemetery and museum showing the cost of the Battle of Normandy. If you're coming to see a relative's grave, let them know ahead of time. They will install a couple flags at the gravesite for you to take, and rub the lettering with sand from Omaha Beach to make it appear golden. If you're not there to see a relative's grave, you have to stay out of the rows (oops). This is a must see for anyone visiting the landing beaches.

If you want an understanding of the price in blood young American men paid to liberate Europe and defeat Nazism, then this is one of the best places to come to find that understanding. Fittingly, it is a beautiful place in which the broken bodies of these heroes rest. Their silence shouts to those who will listen that freedom isn't free and that it is not purchased by the cowardly but by the brave.

The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial (French: Cimetière américain de Colleville-sur-Mer) is a World War II cemetery and memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, that honors American troops who died in Europe during World War II which covers 172.5 acres. Here contains the graves of 9,386 of our military dead, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings and ensuing operations. This is a sobering place to visit and pay your respect to those who lost their lives during the war. The site is free to visit. The grounds are well maintained and there is a lot of information displays.

A depressing and historic place. Thanks to all Allied soldiers who have brought peace to Europe through their commitment. Honoring you is our responsibility. Impressive exhibition. Definitely worth a visit. Located in close proximity to the Overlord Museum.

3 yrs ago, my husband (US) & I (UK) went to Meuse Argonne American Cemetery (WW1) to find my husband's Great Great Uncles grave, which we did. It was the most serene place we have ever been to. This Normandy American Cemetery is just as serene, just as beautiful and just as important and is a must see if you find yourself in this area of France. My husband has no family here, in fact none of his extended family died during WW2 but it was still important for us to visit, to pay our respects. These American Cemeteries are a special place, an amazing experience and a good lesson to retain for future generations. Such a beautiful cemetery and when the weather is nice, the swells are low and tide is out, it is the perfect resting place for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We just wish this was the war to end all wars, unfortunately as we all know this is not the case which is the saddest part of the experience here.
Brenna Oles — Google review
It's a beautiful but sad place. The time you take to reflect teaches you that a battle has no winners on the tactical level. Very well maintained and the overview maps on either side of the monument puts it all in perspective.

Free entry, free parking, extremely well maintained and secure. I read every single slide/exhibit in the place, I was completely absorbed by it all and have never got close to doing that in any other museum I've visited in 50+ years. The views from the cliff are awesome too. This is a must visit place. Now, where did I put my "The Longest Day" dvd?!
Dave Chard — Google review
We were SO lucky to have asked for a guide (who did an exceptional job) that explained the meaning of this burial ground. She brought history to personal effects and was AWESOME. As a retired U.S. military veteran, this place hits close to home.

My visit to Normandy American Cemetery was an emotional one. It was surreal to be able to see the resting place of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country. There is a very somber feeling surrounding this cemetery. The cemetery is located on a cliff overlooking Omaha beach, the site of where so many lives were lost. The reflecting pool is really beautiful. We were able to walk the long path of white crosses. We were also able to see the lowering of the flag ceremony, which takes place an hour before the cemetery closes. I'm so grateful to have had this chance to pay tribute to those incredibly brave men and women who fought for our freedom in Normandy France.

No tickets necessary- you walk on the grounds. We went in late November practically no one there. If you do go in the off season dress warm because it it very chilly. You are right on the Atlantic Ocean but I’m sure you know this. We didn’t dress with enough layers but made it through. Very serene place packed with emotion. So many young souls lost their lives protecting our freedoms. The cemetery has a lot of information around in the monument areas. This is something you must see if you are in Normandy, very moving.

Wow! Such a quiet and peaceful place. It is tough to put to words what it was like. I found tears running down my face several times. If you close your eyes and try to hear what our young men heard and went through when landing on the local beaches during WW2, the sacrifices they made really sink in. The walkthrough museum is a must also. I would go through it before walking the cemetery. It is very informative with detailed exhibits.
Danny Middleton — Google review
The Normandy American Cemetery really brings about strong emotions. This cemetery is beautifully curated to show our history here in Normandy. Upon walking into the building, you go through security which is pretty straightforward. There are a few things to view at top, but then you go downstairs to read about and see the items used, places, people, etc. There are the walls of remembrance that are quite emotional. From here you walk outside and onto the burial ground paths (you can access this area without going into the building). Everything is roped off, unlike other national cemeteries where you can walk through and view the gravestones. There used to be access to the beaches from this area, but those are completely closed off now, which is unfortunate. You can drive to those areas instead, but it would be simpler if the walkways were still open to the public. In all, a great visit to see our place in history.
K Elf — Google review
Before visiting the cemetery you can visit a very interesting museum with photographs, information and objects at the information centre. The photos of this place do not prepare you for the real-life size of the cemetery and the number of crosses. This is a really spiritual place. A large free parking is available.

Memorial Pegasus

Museums
The Memorial Pegasus is a war museum in Normandy that honors the British 6th Airborne Division's role during the invasion of Normandy. The museum features a variety of exhibits, including the original Pegasus Bridge with visible battle scars, which visitors can walk along. Admission fees are $8 for adults and $5 for children.
I was looking forward to visiting here for a long time and it didn't disappoint. Easy to find just along the road from the working bridge easy walking distance. There's a reasonable size car park with no fees. We were there in September so it wasn't very busy so when in the museum part it was good to just take our time and have a good look at the exhibits which were very informative, also the video in the middle of the museum was very good we'll worth the time to have a look. Out on the outside of the exhibition the original bridge was set up with other part's concerning tanks, guns and the like. All in all if you are visiting the Normandy beaches the Pegasus bridge is a must.
Brian Bruce — Google review
Really nice museum. Not massive, but pays tribute to the bravery shown by so many to secure the Pegasus Bridge, which gave the allies a strategic advantage during the war.
Carlos Uploads — Google review
A great record of the airborne assault to capture the bridge that will now be forever linked to them. Informative, interesting & memorable. A must see if you are in the area & following the WWII/DDay operations.
Karl Stephens — Google review
Great stop after seeing the new modern Pegasus bridge. One of the historian workers there gave a great background of the battles that took place around there, explained the bridge and the gliders that the commandos used.
Brandon ?b2Squared? — Google review
Really great experience! The museum was well displayed and informative without being over burdening. The outside exhibitions were also brilliant. Well worth a visit. The staff spoke very good English and an added bonus was that our dog was allowed in too!
Ben Lewis — Google review
Extremely humbling experience. The museum is adjacent to the bridge/river and the first liberated house now a cafe with a visitors book and almost a museum in its own right. Easy cycle ride from Caen or the ferry port.
Marcus Mills — Google review
What an amazing museum! Thoroughly informative, and the exhibits are very well presented. Truly a great place to visit and be informed of the tremendous effort of the airmen and soldiers.
Richard Chapman — Google review
So much information about the courage and tenacity of the British army in attacking this bridge, to see so many actual uniforms and medals of the troops involved. The fact that arms and equipment are still being found around the area is witness to the scale of the fighting. Not to be missed, see the reality not the film.
Denis COOMBES — Google review
Most definitely worth a visit. The taking of the Pegasus Bridge was an amazing operation, the first step on DDay for getting troops established in France. Arriving in gliders these soldiers set off a chain of events that ultimately freed France of 5 years of Getman invasion. The museum dedicates itself to the bravery and loss of men (particularly British and Canadian - but not exclusively) who secured the bridge. A huge section of which now stands in the grounds. There's a replica glider, vehicles and various war relics outside. Toilets, carpark (no height barrier) & gift shop. English and French speaking guides. 2 minutes walk across to the present bridge and monuments where the gliders landed. €9 entry.
Polly Wainwright — Google review
Very interesting museum such as the free tour that was offered.
Ramseier Thomas — Google review
I cannot overstate how much this place moved me. The new bridge outside is faithful to the original which is in the museum. Individual heroes have descriptions, photos and medals in the museum and the whole place is well curated with vehicles, gliders etc outside. There are memorials jus outside the museum too. I found it very moving and highly recommended it.
kevin mills — Google review
Really interesting museum with a digital tour in your own language (if available). There are a lot of items to see, in and outside. Outside you'll finde vehicles, a glider, a part of a original/used/found glider and the pegasus bridge (I think the original one). This place also has a shop and toilets. This place is suitable for wheelchairs. Entrance was about €8.

Pegasus Memorial Museum is located between Caen and the sea. In the early hours of D-Day on 6th June 1944 the bridge spanning the canal was captured by paratroopers of the British 6th Airborne Division. There is a great deal to see in the museum and a visit is a must.
David Wright — Google review
Very interesting museum. Lots of exhibits and photographs. Informative film show. There's also the guns, bridge and glider in the grounds. Gift shop has plenty of souvenirs at reasonable prices!

I have visited quite a few of the WW2 sites to date & all are pretty emotive, but Pegasus bridge (given you can walk on it) really does put a lump in your throat knowing that the allies were on that very spot fighting for the freedom of Europe, highly recommended to visit here

Another of the excellent battlefield museums scattered around the D-Day area. Loads to see and read, in a well-curated modern space. Many interesting larger outdoors exhibits too, including the original bridge.

Went there last week with the Fenland Sappers to refurbish their Bailey bridge, and took advantage to have a look around the museum. Everything you need to know and see about the particular mission is here, including the original bridge , weapons , uniforms, armour, the locations of the gliders on the day, and the cafe. Highly recommend.

This was the first memorial and museum I had ever visited with regards to D-DAY and the Normandy landings. Needless to say it's a very interesting and humbling experience. The original Pegasus Bridge is located in the museum, a short walk from the current bridge. Very worthwhile look around with some great exhibits to see and plenty to read about. There's also a small cinema to watch a film which is in both French and English. Good parking, toilets and shop as always. Thoroughly recommend.

The Bayeux War Cemetery, situated opposite the Museum of the Battle of Normandy, is the largest Commonwealth military cemetery in France dedicated to World War II. It comprises over 4,000 burials from ten different countries including Germany. The beautiful and well-kept cemetery offers visitors an opportunity to pay their respects to those who sacrificed their lives in the war and provides a unique perspective on the historic events that took place in Normandy.
Incredibly moving, and beautifully planted. Coming in may and seeing the flowers is a wonderful reminder how life is precious and beautiful and how that contrasts with the amazing sacrifice those young soldiers made. Amazing, but it tugs at your heart strings. God bless all those who risked their lives, and especially those who did not return home <3
Jack Fuller — Google review
The memorial is a stunning and very moving tribute to those brave men who paid a terrible price for the freedom we can enjoy in the western world. To see a D day veteran on our visit was an unexpected privilege. As a memorial it merits 5 stars + The one star is because in the huge parking area it is necessary to phone in and pay 3€ to park a car. What a nightmare when the bank then want to send an OTC that does not come through to validate a tiny payment. We gave up after wasting 15 minutes in trying to make the payment. It says the money goes towards the memorial costs. Fine and admirable. On the walk back to the car park from the memorial there is a discrete contactless card reader for making a 6€ donation for the same purpose....very easy. Get rid of the phone in parking service and install a simple cash/card machine. In the meantime we await the argument about the parking charge and any fine that may follow.

Visited on a rainy and bleak weather day. The cemetery is so well kept. A credit to CWGC staff. Whilst there we spoke with the ground’s staff who were so detailed and careful in their work. Cutting sharp edges to each headstone, clearing leaves and debris. Carefully Polishing the bright work of plaques and records vaults. One particular story had me choked up. (I’m ex Para) 9th Battalion, Private Emile Corteil a young 19yrs Paratrooper who accompanied by his beautiful dog Glen landed on 6th July 1944. Both safe landing but later both were killed. They are buried together. So sad. So young but have each other in life and death. The inscription broke me. It says, Had you known our boy you would have loved him too.
Paul — Google review
An incredibly moving place to visit. It manages to convey both the scale of the losses suffered by British and Commonwealth forces, but it is also intensely personal due to the personal messages from family members on all the headstones. The grounds and graves are immaculately kept with each grave also having plants and flowers from the UK growing just in front. It brings tears to my eyes just writing this review.

Powerful, impactful, moving and so, so important. Beyond visiting Juno Beach, this cemetery demonstrates the true cost, the fulsome price paid by many, many brave Canadian soldiers. Tragic, how many of the graves show that these boys, as young as 18, died for freedom. Bring Kleenex.

Pointe du Hoc

Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Pointe du Hoc is a significant location in history with breathtaking views. It was a difficult terrain to invade due to its highly defended nature, and the cost of human lives during D-Day was tremendous. The cliff top bears witness to the invasion, marked by bomb craters and destroyed batteries. Rangers who landed on the narrow beach below scaled the rough 100-foot cliffs at 6:40am on June 6th.
This place offers the best view in the region. It is no secret why Germans heavily armed this location due to its strategic location (no obstructed view on both the Utah beach and the Omaha beach)! The walk was a loop which took roughly around 15-20 minutes. You will see various German gunman posts and canon posts and appreciate the courage and sacrifice it took for the Allied forces to liberate this position. Warning: do not come during January! The wind alone will blow your hats away plus the freezing temperature 🤒
Harry — Google review
Freak day trip experience. It's is one in a lifetime experiences. You can walk the loop in about one hr and see the German bunkers and the incredible views.
Claudia Teruel — Google review
This is likely where Saving Private Ryan opening scene took place. An impressive huge network of bunkers and coastal guns formed an almost impenetrable fortress on top of the cliff. It would've been a daunting if not downright suicide mission staring at it. An absolute must see for history buffs and movie fans. Word of advice: don't go too late in the day like we did---they closed off bunker access right in our face!
Jerome Mo — Google review
Very interesting area, amazing views, and lots of history.
Caitlin Schroeder — Google review
Really a spectacular spot to see a picture of the D Day invasion and what the rangers did. What impressed me almost as much as the cliffs are the artillery craters everywhere. It is sobering to see and a beautiful vantage point over the cliffs.
Michelle Mitton — Google review
Great stop on a tour of the D-Day landings with informative displays. Some bunkers are still standing, and some of those you can go into. The bomb craters are surreal to see. The cliffs are beautiful.
Emma C — Google review
It’s a really special experience to climb down the bunker, visiting the different rooms, see the super thick walls up close, glancing out through the small opening out over the sea and the steep cliffs the soldiers needed to climb… meanwhile they were under attack. You could still see the bullet holes on the walls. Might not be pleasant if you’re claustrophobic or have trouble walking narrow stairs. You could still admire the view from the top.
Uki Bear — Google review
We skipped the main portion of Omaha beach and went to Pointe du Hoc, which is where the rangers scaled the “impossible” wall while gun fire was reigning down around them. The craters from the bombings that took place before the beach landings were massive and still there today; they’re giant grass bowls now. The cliffs are shear, and amazing that the rangers climbed them with their broken down equipment and grapple hook launchers under such harsh conditions.
Erik — Google review
Very nice place to visit, but you have to know the story of this place to really appreciate it. My husband knows a lot of the fight at Pointe du Hoc (lots of details of how the allies had to climb up etc), so it was very nice to see the place in real. Otherwise: get a guided tour! Tip: if you ever go to Pointe de Suzac (near St. Georges de Didonne): much nicer bunkers, better views etc… BUT: the heroics of Pointe du Hoc are great, so if you like history: GO. It was crowded by the way, but no problem with parking the car 👌
LockdownTV Alias — Google review
Craters are so huge that they never could be cleaned! Well preserved observing point and a bunker. History behind is very well described in the museum.
Stanislav Yordanov — Google review
Breathtaking views, truly chilling to think about the events which took place here. Free to visit, about an hour to walk around. You're able to enter some of the bunkers and observation posts, which still bear the scars of war. Lots of informative plaques to provide you with all the information and history of Point Du Hoc. I found this place fascinating, and most of the bunkers have been left in the condition they were left by the brave US soldiers. Evidence of intense fighting is everywhere, from the landscape to the bullet ridden walls to the burnt out bunkers. Make this a stop on your visit.
James — Google review
Awesome if you love your WW2 stuff. Great paths. The shell craters & bunkers are crazy. Great place to visit to make you appreciate what you have.
Ian Potter — Google review
Point du hoc was thought to be a pivotal area for the American rangers to capture on DDay, situated and justing out between Utah and omaha beaches it was thought that the Germans could bombard both beaches from here. Indeed they originally had 6 large guns up on the cliffs and despite heavy bombardment of the area none were destroyed and were later found in an orchard further from the site. The views are spectacular and the craters and defences will make you gasp. A must see if your in the area

A stylish restaurant with excellent food. Carefully designed and executed dishes, prepared with great technique and best ingredients. The not so great experience were the wine pairings: the wines were never shown (a filled glas was simply brought to the table) and my last red was the (slightly oxidized) dregs of a bottle (the glas was full of sediments). Disappointing with a meal of that quality.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was top-notch and the service was exceptional. The planned menu with wine is a must-try, and definitely worth the price. The staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes and made sure that everything was explained thoroughly. The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming, making it a great choice for special occasions or a night out. Although parking can be a bit tricky, it's well worth the effort. A simply amazing experience! We had the 4 course "surprise" menu and every single item (including the amuse bouche) was a memorable. The locally sourced lamb course was both excellent and very creative as was the fish (lieu jaune prepared in a sushi style with courgette sauce and quinoa). Make no mistake, you are at the frontiers of taste here. Add in the flawless and very welcoming service, the excellent wine list, and the beautifully restored dining room and you have one of the best addresses in all Normandy (and perhaps in all of France). Very much recommended. We hope to return -- often.

This is a "must go" place. We chose the planned menu with wine, which came out about 60Euro. 5 on the menu but it's actually 7 courses. AMAZING food, and the staff are so wonderful. The chef made sure that the food came out right in time so that we have a steady flow and none got cold, etc. For the price, the menu is way worth more than its costs!

Menu of seven courses @Eu78 per person, with paired wine. Food and wine and service were all exquisite. Will definitely visit again.

Haute French restaurant
Stephane Carbone is a haute french restaurant that offers a variety of dishes with a French or European flair. The menu features items such as pommes du ris de veau cooked in a sautoir, Saint-Jacques snails cooked with garlic and herbs, and chocolates made from Valrhona chocolate and Manjari black pepper. Lunch menus start at just €30, while the Autour du Homard menu costs €100.
I am glad I came here after picking up my rental car in Caen. Both the food and service was excellent! I highly recommend checking this place out! The price was extremely fair for what you’re getting. I paid $29 euro for my lunch menu with 3 courses. Really can’t go wrong with that for sure! On top of the 3 course they gave us an extra 1 tiny appetitizer at the beginning and 1 tiny dessert at the end when you’re settling the bill. Also this restaurant has a 1 Michelin Star rating and definitely very well deserved star! It is a must go to restaurant if you’re in Caen!

First of all, the staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining the different types of tasting menu. We chose the Incognito Tasting Menu which was interesting. Quality of ingredients and flavor were great. It fell a bit flat on the crab meat dish, but everything else was fantastic. Interior feels a bit dated and might need a little bit of refreshing. Over-all, a wonderful experience.

Honestly, the experience was quite disappointing. The dessert was excellent but the appetizers were far too salty and the entree of white fish was really bland and served with cold vegetables. The main of St. Jacques was well cooked but nothing exciting. The service was smothering at times and the waiters visited our table almost every 5 minutes which killed the atmosphere and interrupted our conversations.... at one point I was still chewing the food in my mouth when she removed my plate & then she stood there waiting. My partner still had his appetiser on the plate & was chewing, she said "I'm waiting to take your plate" so he was forced to take the remaining food in his hand. Not really good service and far too efficient, just felt like even though the restaurant was quiet, they were in a rush to get people out. I'm surprised this is a star restaurant and would not return.

Completely deserves its Michelin star. We took the surprise menu on the first evening and were so pleased that we came back few days later with family for the lunch menu. Innovative dishes, excellent cooking. You can see the "brigade" at work behind a glass window. The only down side is the dark design of the dining hall...but it is purely subjective

Visiting Caen we decided to dine @Stéphane Carbone. Just after the restaurants are REopening (Covid-19), where all businesses are fighting for customers we were happy to spoil ourselfs a bit. WhenI made reservation on-ligne I informed the restaurants that I'am pregnant and I have pregnancy diabetes. Unfortunately, this has been ignored. From the beginning of our lunch the waitress did not know about my dietary needs, but she exchanged 2 of the 5 dishes after reminding her. Food there is sweet and not well seasoned. After a while, waitress also made sure that I suffer from diabetes. Unfortunately, the kitchen did not addapt any dishes, each of the 5 COURSES was served on / with white bread, sweet puree and sweet fruit sorbet. I even got chocolate ganache and sweetened strawberry smoothie for petit four! when my husband complained to the waiter that they weren't serious about my dietary requirements which can cause dangerous consequences for me and my babe, his answer was: "Ah bah oui". We are both working and having experience in the international catering industry for over 10 years, and never saw ignorance of allergies and dealing with complaints like this. This is unacceptable! Our 5-course tasting menu took 65 minutes (in and out- if you ask for a break in between the courses your wish is ignored) and costed around 130 euros. There is not check- back to the table( "c'été fini"- is not the way to make sure that the guests are satisfied with a dish), no conversation with your server(wine matching was really poor also), nor kindness, nor pleasure to be there. We are trully disappointed with Stéphane Carbone restaurant, with evidence that is no gastronomic restaurant anymore. With so many restaurants who are happy to provide an extra touch to the paying guests we will never come back!

Le Pavé d'Auge is a Michelin-starred restaurant in the half-timbered market hall at the heart of the pretty village of Beuvron-en-Auge. Here, you can try French classical cuisine with local produce and award-winning sauces. Menus range from 50 to 85 euros.
Great restaurant, gourmet dishes. You can order a complete menu o "à la carte".

Superb lunch in this lovely restaurant in the heart of a pretty village. A warm welcome although we hadn't booked, good service and exceptional cooking. It was especially nice to see some imaginative vegetarian options which were prepared as thoughtfully as the meat and fish dishes. Our only small criticism is that there were too many amuses bouches which we felt were superfluous, both at the beginning and end of the meal! In a sense they detracted from the main dishes, which were high quality. The restaurant is in a nice old building and the ambiance was very nice, parking was easy. Highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) This beautiful restaurant is located right in the middle of a square in an almost picturesque village, which in itself is definitely worth a visit. It is a restaurant recommended by Michelin and awarded a star. You can taste it and notice it in the atmosphere. However, it did not always go smoothly and 100% and if you have difficulty understanding French, it is better to let everything happen and enjoy the beautiful wines and dishes. We were with 3 children and they also enjoyed it. The very tasty children's dishes were very good. The atmosphere is warm and it is a very beautiful building. Still a special point of criticism. Two beautiful distinct flavors on 1 plate... fried foi gras and mackerel. Both delicious but I wouldn't combine them. But apart from that, I can recommend a visit to everyone. We enjoyed it, thanks!

I recently dined at Gourmet Restaurant Le Pave d”Auge, and I must say, the experience was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and elegant. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, making me feel truly valued. But the true star of the evening was the food. Each dish that graced the table was a masterpiece of flavors and presentation. The attention to detail in every plate was evident, and it was evident that the chefs put their heart and soul into crafting each dish. The menu was a delightful journey through various culinary traditions, offering a perfect balance between classic favorites and innovative creations. The ingredients were undoubtedly fresh and of the highest quality, resulting in a symphony of tastes that danced on my taste buds. Highly recommend it!

What a wonderful dining experience! This cozy restaurant is located on the central square of a beautiful old village. The food was excellent, creative yet not pretentious, well presented, with top notch service. Reasonably priced, including a broad range of wine prices on the wine list. This restaurant is a must try!

Very far from all the "wannabe Parisian stylish" restaurants from Trouville or Deauville, here the menu is short and straightforward - just like the prices. The products are top notch and cooking executed with that sort of 'simplicity' that brings mastery to excellence, keeping each ingredient as a star: simple touches that all combined together create a wonderful and delicious experience! Service is helpful, attentive, efficient and very nice. Both starters and mains had a great veggie option that makes your otherwise 'common' veggie dish blush with shame. Great in all aspects! Highly recommended!

SaQuaNa is a two-star restaurant in Honfleur, France that takes traditional French dishes and addes global touches with an eastern influence. The food is simple, but high quality and the decor is stylish with dark wood accents. It's expensive, but the food is top notch.
The staff at the restaurant warmly welcomed us, and the food not only tasted delicious but also felt light and healthy. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant added to the positive experience. During our visit, we were on a tour and had concerns about getting our food on time. The staff, in a reassuring and friendly manner, assured us that everything would be served promptly. Their caring attitude made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

A bit surprised from the reviews, food was a bit disappointing, to serve rice and 5 pieces of small sausage bites, overall not the best dish, and although it was a lunch course, it wasn't anything special. Monkfish was aright, but wouldn't come back for it specifically. Beautiful interior, modern, with a nice Boulangerie in the restaurant. Again, compared to pastries in Paris or others I've had around the world, the ones we had for dessert weren't too good. If you only have one or two days in Honfleur, I would recommend skipping this restaurant.

Well deserved Michelin bib status. Service - 5/5 Food - 5/5. Interesting fusion between French and Japanese flavors, and done very very well. We expected the Bouillabaisse to beat out the Udon given that it is a restaurant in France, but upon tasting both, they were equally incredible. Great broth and flavors. Dessert was especially good - don’t skip the canele soaked in rum. The lack of pictures just comes from digging in too quickly and forgetting to take photos Also I liked the concept of not ordering your next round of dishes until you’re done with the current course. It probably helped us leave satisfied without overeating or creating any food waste.

Nice presentation! Subtle layers of flavor. Wonderful attention to detail. Loved the okonomiyaki, sushi, & rib steak. Kids split the giant burger after a sushi entree. Pastries were a sweet finish. Attentive service with explanations offered in English which helped relieve our one French speaker from doing all the translating.

Absolutely perfect from start to finish, this is what I call a restaurant. Everything is homemade, from the chips served with the aperitifs to the little cookie served with the coffees at the end, and everything in between. Looks good inside, professional service and good atmosphere, makes you want to stay longer. Food was a blast and I loved how the menu works, with sharing dishes or solo ones. Desserts are top notch too. Equals to what you d get in a fancy modern Parisian pâtisserie. Probably the best restaurant in Honfleur.

It's probably one of the best French meals we had in our 8 days in France! The service was excellent! All of the dishes were homemade and done to perfection! I wish we had restaurants like this in Atlanta, Georgia, or someplace close🤩 I found this restaurant by looking through Michelin Guide. This was not rated with a star, but it was highly recommended. We have been to other michelin star restaurants that were not as cozy and unique as this. The homemade terrine of foie gras was exceptional. So good, I tried to buy some, but they only sell it at Christmas time. My next course was Scallops with an artichoke mouse... Oh, my stars! Lastly, I had this incredible dessert pictured below with chocolate ice cream and a puff that was light and so good I could have licked my plate! Hubby does not eat fish. So he went with the chicken entree and ate everything on the plate, even though he does not like all veggies! Our Calvados tasting had 6, 12, and 20-year Calvados from different regions in Normandy This was a beautiful way to end a fantastic dinner! Thank you, Linda and Simon, for making the evening so special that we closed down the restaurant🤩💕

Best meal we had on our entire trip to Paris, Bayeaux, and Strasbourg! I will be dreaming of this food for a long time. If you are in Bayeux do not miss this place. Absolutely amazing experience. Down a short alley to the door. Cute inside. They served us a couple of different amuse bouche, a cream cheese bite and a cracker with crabmeat and wasabi. We both had the lobster ravioli as an appetizer. It was out of this world. For main courses we both had steak very tasty but a bit on the salty side. For dessert I had a strawberry and cream filled pastry while my wife had a chocolate mousse crunch bar with caramel.

We booked this restaurant weeks before our trip to Bayeux and were so glad we did. The restaurant is small, about 12 tables, intimate, and very comfortable. We always felt we were the center of attention. The menu is not extensive with meals at set prices, but all the choices are good ones and the cost reasonable. The overall quality of the food and the presentation are what you would expect from a restaurant focused on fine dining. There are only two sittings, one 7:00 and one 9:00. We had 9:00, which is late for us, but we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. One of the owners was our server. We found her to be very attentive and engaging. They had a robust wine list to cover all tastes and price points. We had a reasonably-priced bottle of the Cotes du Rhone that was recommended by the owner and we loved it. Even considering our meals in Paris, this was clearly our best dining experience in France. La Rapier has our highest recommendation for fine dining.

This was the best meal that my wife and I have ever had in our lives, hands-down. We visited in February 2023. Months later, I can still vividly remember each dish. Excellent service, dishes bursting with flavor, highly recommended Located in the “Restaurant Row” in Bayeux (a pedestrian district with many restaurants with old fashioned store front look). You can miss this one since it is through an arch and about 20 feet into a small alley. The stone work of the original old building has been keep on the outside as well as the inside. The original celling beams and woodwork give a slight rustic feel but some walls a new with a slate blue/gray that makes it clean new also. Lighting uses small accent lights to make tables have a cozy feel. The decorations follow the theme of the name focusing on the musketeers and swords. As do the names of the menus. The wait staff was great. Attentive, timely and fully able to answer any questions of wine and menu items. Speaking of wines, chalk boards on the walls listed suggested or featured wines of the night. We had a 2019 Le Pla Du Roy Domain Benazeth which was full, rich blend of syrah and ganache. We had the prix fixe menu Le Menu Athos, Porthos et Aramis (the musketeer theme). The Duck Foie gras terrine came with toasts of home-made Bread with dried fruits(cheeries, apple). A rich, buttery pate with herbs. The toasts paired well with the pate Wild Gambas in Thaï Stock with Vegetables was six medium to large prawns in a full flavored Thai broth with lemon grass, galangal, fish sauce and Thai chili (not much, just a kiss of heat). Tender crisp julienne of carrot and daikon with chiffonade of thai basil. A dish bursting with flavor. For the mains, a Simmental beef tenderloin was medium rare, tender, juicy with a good char on the outside with an herbaceous crust. The sauce was more than au jus, more like a gravy with spices and herbs that somewhat reminded of sauerbraten gravy. Mashed potatoes, pickled red onions, carrots and roasted beets completed the sides. Poached sea bass was tender but not falling apart. A risotto of wheatberries (not rice) was a nice variation, a little chew to it, and a little light on seasoning. White asparagus with hollandaise was a rich counterpoint to the risotto. Desserts were amazing. A creamy cheesecake was topped with a fresh made apple sauce beside a scoop of salted butter toffee ice cream in a pool of Calvados custard. Wow! Equally decadent was a dome of dark chocolate mousse on a pistachio/ almond cookie covered in dark chocolate ganache and chilled to a cracking crust. Oh my! If you want this you must let the waiter know when you place your entrée order so the kitchen has time to prepare it. Do it! You must make reservations to get in here. One of the best places we ate in a three-week France trip.
