Slovenian Littoral Region

The Slovene Littoral is one of the five traditional regions of Slovenia. The littoral in its name - for a coastal-adjacent area - recalls the former Austrian Littoral, the Habsburg possessions on the upper Adriatic coast, of which the Slovene Littoral was part.

Praetorian Palace

The Praetorian Palace, located on the southern side of Titov trg, is a 15th-century Venetian Gothic castle that serves as Koper's town hall. It boasts a mix of Renaissance and Venetian Gothic styles, and it is considered the symbol of Koper. On its ground floor is the tourist information office and a reconstructed old pharmacy.
We had a romantic dinner on palace balcony with excursion in the tower to watch the sunset. We also got to walk around the palace a bit on a guided tour with very kind and konwledgable guide. This was really great experience both for views and for nice food. Thank you very much for this very special service!

Though its exterior is not captivating, the cathedral's interior boasts of white classical decor and an expansive feel despite its sombre outer appearance.
A very nice old church with a stone bell tower
Louis and Elaine — Google review
It's not the most stunning looking cathedral from the outside but the interior is lovely. Although the whole setting with the bell tower and palace in the surrounding square makes for some great photos and a lovely place to walk and relax. The bell tower was €3 each and has 204 steps to the top. As usual you get a good view from the top. It is also suppose to be the oldest working bell tower in Slovenia.
JASON BACON — Google review
This cathedral is one of the biggest churches in Slovenia. Almost completely white and quiet interior contrasts with the lively square in front of the church. Art lovers will find some precious art pieces (main and side altars) and they will certainly apreciate the breathtaking white facade. Visit of the bell tower is possible as well.
Meta Lenart Perger — Google review
You can visit the tower, entrance fee is around 3 € and you need to climb 204 stairs to get to the top where you can see whole of Koper. I liked the view but I think that the entrance fee is too high.
Dominika Vilmonova — Google review
In the central square of Koper, Tito Square, are the beautiful Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary. The Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary, built in the 15th century in the Gothic style, was later completed in the Renaissance style. In the 18th century, the interior was enriched in Baroque style. It houses many valuable works of art by Venetian masters, including Vittorio and Benedetto Carpaccio, Antonio Zanchi and others. In its treasury, the cathedral also holds a number of valuables, including a Byzantine ivory chest ( 9th to 12th centuries), a chalice and a large monstrance (card) from the 15th century, bust of St. Nazarias and the antiphonarium of Koper miniaturist Nazari (Nazario da Giustinopoli). On the facade of the cathedral lean the city tower. It was part of a Romanesque fortress that dates from the 15th century to 17th century. Later it has been transformed into a bell tower and today is a striking vantage point offering a magnificent view of the entire Koper Bay and the nearby hinterland.
Asiyah Noemi Koso — Google review
I know this church only from the outside. It looks lovely. I wanted to climb the tower but it was already closed when i arrived. But still, it looks nice.
Bojan Benko — Google review
3.5 euro to go up the stairs. Maybe I'm jaded but it didn't feel worth the money.
Peter Chanthanakone (Director) — Google review
Priest sent me out because my shoulders are not covered. Seriously ?! We are in 2023 and the church should be lucky that people visit after all the terrible atrocities in the past centuries and scandals in the past decades. Hypocrites!

Vinakoper - Vinski Boutik

Wine store
Food & Drink
VINAKOPER - Vinski Boutik offers a vast selection of high-quality wines at affordable prices, which can be dispensed from pumps similar to those found in gas stations. This makes it an ideal place to purchase wine souvenirs. Customers can sample various wines and discover different tastes before making their selection. The courteous staff are always willing to assist with any inquiries or recommendations. Additionally, the store has a beautiful decoration and offers excellent gift ideas.
The shop has a great amount of high and good quality wines. The wines are cheap even the wines are being sold in the other shops in Slovenia. You can buy white wine with the price of 2.5 euros per liter. There are some pumps ⛽, the same as the ones exist in gas stations, which you can fill the bottles or containers by wine from those pumps. It is a great place to buy wine as souvenirs. You can buy samples of wines and test different tastes of wine at the shop. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Amin BehzadiRad — Google review

Michaela Kreuterov? — Google review
Unfortunately the staff is unfriendly and very short in their communication. It takes away from the otherwise great experience, the vines itself and the rest of the assortment is really nice and high quality!
Julia Astrid Schwab — Google review
We were delighted with wine boutique and the bar. Apsolutely stunning! Many great ideas for gifts, beautifully decorated and very polite staff. Congratulations!
Daniela Roguljic — Google review
Unfortunately the wine tasting option wasn't available due to covid, although the staff wasn't very informative as to the reason. No one came to help us look for wine, despite there being a wide range to choose from. That being said, I think we caught them on a bad day. There is a lot of gifts to choose from besides wine, such as meat, cheese and chocolate. Hopefully the next visit will be better, especially being the biggest wine coop in slovenia.
Paul Heller — Google review
There is a big shop with great variety of wines. There is vending machines available where you can taste different wines with 1 euro per glass. They have winecellar but apparently they organize tour and tasting only for minimum 10 person groups. You can buy wine in big cannister if you want
Osku Niemi — Google review
Vinakoper is a big shop of tipical and local wines. It's a very large structure, inside it is in stone, and there are hundreds of wines. The place is rustic and very pleasant, and there are very nice corners to sit. You can taste the wines, and there are guys who help in the selection of wines. It is the largest wine producer in Slovenia and a guided tour of the winery is possible.
Makram Dell'Universo — Google review
If it was possible to give 0 stars. I asked if it was possible to taste some of their Brut. Not possible. When I want to buy a merlot prestige from 1990, the asked 3 times of i was certain.that i've seen the price. They gave me the feeling that i would buy something that was out of my league. Hate that way of selling. So bought nothing! Never come back to this shop!!!

It offers stunning sea views and is surrounded by narrow streets and unusual shops, making it an ideal spot for tourists looking for something different. The fountain's unique design adds to its charm and appeal, drawing visitors to explore the nearby City Tower, Praetorian Palace, Foresteria and Armeria.
Beautiful town right on the marina. A lift takes you up to the old part of koper..very clean, very friendly and extremely quirky. Lots of narrow streets and unusual shops for that something different.. Had the most amazing tasting coffee just off from the square. If you are on a cruise, be advised you will need to carry your passport with you and its about 10 min to get back through security.....standing in 31 degrees heat...but well worth a visit 😀

This place was beautiful.. With influences predominately from Italy, it reminded me of being in a mini Napoli.. Surrounded by still water which glistened in the 33 degrees heat the narrow side streets led to a medieval courtyard with a mixture of Gothic and renaissance architecture.. A gorgeous place to visit and only about an hour or so away from ljubljana..

Vrata Muda

Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Vrata Muda is a popular tourist attraction in Koper, Slovenia. It is the only surviving entrance gate of the original 12 gates that once surrounded the city. Vrata Muda dates back to the 15th century and has undergone several restorations over the years. The gate's architectural style reflects Gothic and Renaissance influences, with intricate decorations on its facade. Visitors can admire the gate's imposing structure and learn about its historical significance from informative plaques in multiple languages.
A very nice area with an old fountain, remains of the old city gate and wall

Nothing special.. City shoud repaint and restore this gate to be a really good attraction..
Petar Nikolic — Google review
It's an ok gate to visit, but lacking a bit to make it outstanding. It has two openings and it looks better from one side than the other. On one side is a road, and a pedestrianised square on the other. If in Koper anyway than worth seeking out as easily walkable but don't seek out from far away.

Nice Venetian doors to the city of Koper. I would give it five, but the square behind it is too lonely..not much going on. Which is said, beacuse is nice square defined with this door and a lovely fountain.

Nice to see, last historical gate to the old city center.
Just Filip — Google review
Once upon a time the town of Koper was situated on a small island. In 1278 it became part of the Venetian Republic and it was fortified with a defensive wall, which ran around the island. This wall had 12 gates that lead the travelers into the town. The city wall is now mostly gone and Vrata Muda remain the only one of all the original city gates that are still preserved. They were built during the reign of the Venetian Republic, on the initiative of the then city podesta (this was the title of the chief Venetian administrator of Koper) Sebastiano Contarini, in the year 1516. They were built by Marino de Vedelo, according to the plans of the famous workshop of Lombardi from Venice. The gates, like all the rest of them, were built in the renaissance style and were modeled on the antique Roman Triumphal Arches. It is interesting to note, that Vrata Muda were built on the site of a small bridge, which connected the island with the mainland. For that reason they were also known as »Porta della terra ferma« or the land gates. On them one can still see the most important symbol of that era – the Lion heads. The lion in fact was the main symbol of the Venetian Republic. There are also stone carvings of the Sun to be seen on the gates, which is now the main symbol of the city of Koper. The Muda gates were one of the most important city gates in the middle ages, because many people who traveled to the island, passed through here. That is the reason, why the city officials set here a station for collecting taxes on all the goods that people brought to the city. It is from the Italian name of this tax, that is called “mitnina” in the Slovenian language, that the gates got its name “Muda”. The gates are very beautiful, renovated and very well kept. Nowadays they are one of the main historical attractions of the town. And of course, they can be also a great background for nice photographs. If you are entering through this gates into the old town, pay attention to the wall with a small door on the left side. That wall is what remains today of the old city walls. In the past those small door used to be a side door to enter or exit the town, especially when the main gates were crowded with people and wagons of all sorts.😻
Erlander — Google review
You have a board on which you can read the history of the city, close by is a coffee shop and a pizza place. Also you have a market and a bakery near by.

If you're looking for a seafood restaurant in Bled with good Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, Ostarija Peglez'n is a great choice. The restaurant has outdoor seating and is wheelchair accessible. It also has a full bar, free wifi, and accepts credit cards.
Best Slovenian food ever I’ve eaten! Wow, Delicious food! The beer tastes great! The restaurant is a so lovely and very creative place, I love it. The staff were very respectful manners and friendly service. Highly recommend go to this restaurant! You will love this food!

Really nice place for lunch or dinner. We loved the decorations inside the restaurant. The food was good and the portions were big. The prices were good too. Seafood risotto was huge for 1 person :) The staff friendly. Hvala :)

I still think about this seafood risotto sometimes. It was so very good. The seafood platter was also very good. We thoroughly enjoyed this meals. Service was very swift, even with a full dining room. Well priced for such a well located restaurant next to the lake.
Phoebe Ting — Google review
Hands down, this is the best place for calamari whether grilled or fried. The atmosphere is amazing, service is reasonably fast and you won’t wait long for your food. The menu isn’t large and this makes it easy to order. I personally prefer their seafood over pasta. Good for children and amazing for a dinner date with your special one. I would certainly eat there if ever coming back to Lake Bled

What a wonderful restaurant we stumbled upon! The atmosphere is second to none and the service was just wonderful. We enjoyed a delicious white wine that was recommended by our server... Along with the Slovenian meats to start and the seafood platter to share for our main. The food was extremely tasty and full of flavour! I would love to go back and highly recommend you give it a visit.

Besides the great location, the very nice staff and the nice decoration, the food is very good. We both went for sea food (shrimp spaghetti and sea food risotto) and weren’t disappointed. Be aware that the portions are big so be hungry when you go there.
Marta Campelo — Google review
Had a great trout fillet here on a Sunday evening. Big portion with vegetables and fried potatoes. This restaurant is cute and classic without getting kitschy. Our waitress was nice. They serve bread and Slovenian classics. It’s quite expensive as it is near the lake, but you can sit inside or outside on the terrace with a nice view.
Julia Enthoven — Google review
We had a wonderful dinner here, I had the Sea Bass which was cooked perfectly and my partner had the mixed meat platter. Both great dishes, the staff were very friendly and the price was reasonable (our dishes were €20-23 euros each). Would highly recommended. It does get really busy so I would book in advance.
Siobhan O'Toole — Google review
I had the seafood risotto and they were kind to let me order a half portion, which was plenty of food for me and left me satisfied! The risotto itself was the right texture (not over cooked) & had great flavor! I got lucky and found a table, but I think it’s best to call and reserve ahead of time!
Giovanna Oseguera Tapia — Google review
The food was amazing but there are no words for the kind service! Especially with our dog! She was given treats and water immediately! The atmosphere of the place is very nice and cosy! If you go there try the trout! We also had the soup of the day (broccoli) and the truffle pasta which also were delicious! We will be trying this place again!
Maria Michelaki — Google review
In my opinion quite average or below average sea food and cousine. I was excited because of the reviews, but in the end it was disappointing experience. The trout was oily with oily grilled vegetable and with oily chips (for the first time I was served grilled fish with chips), blitva was below the average. All the dishes (octopus salad, the trout, pasta with shrimps and chocolate mousse) had bland taste and the pasta tasted like something I would prepare as a student at home. Moreover the service was bit strangely organized, they behaved nice, but they made us wait over five minutes before we were seated (even with a booked table) and in the end I had to go to pay my bill to cashier, otherwise we would be there still till now probably. From my point of view it wasn't worthy the money I paid, I could find much more better places in Bled at the same price level.
Martin Cíboch — Google review
Nice place with delicious food and outstanding view on the lake and the castle. Reasonable prices and large portions. Waiters are friendly and polite. We also liked the house wine a lot.

We had lunch at Oštarija. It was great! You are being served really good bread and homemade cream cheese as the starter, the tap water is free. I had fish with potato and chard, it had extra grilled vegetables as a side. It was delicious! The cevapčiči were also great. We also had soup of the day and a mixed salad, both were fresh and flavorful. The staff is really nice and taking care of you.
Sasha Evdokimova — Google review
Glad that we made a reservation for dinner because this place was packed. It is a cozy restaurant with some funky decor. Very friendly staff. We mostly ordered the grilled spicy sausages ( which was not spicy at all ) the mixed meat grill and the Cevapcici which was a local dish. All the meat dishes were as expected , came with some nicely sautéed veggies and fries. Overall a good meal. We however loved the cheesecake at the end the best.
sandhya devas — Google review
Delicious typical food, you can taste fresh fish of the lake expertly cooked (we had seafood risotto and the trout fillet) and very good meat. Also the desserts are a must. The service and the location are great, close to the beautiful lake Bled.

Lake Bled greeted us with rain & Ostarija Peglez'n gave us a feel-good home cooked meal! We had the fish platter & it was delicious for sharing. Fish was crispy as you bite into it without being oily. Calamari & grilled squid were tender & seasoned well. The best surprise was the vegetables with their flavor borrowed from the sea itself.
Pilar Bustamante — Google review
Pretty good food but not for these prices. A large selection of fish and other seafood. You get a free starter: bread and white cheese cream with an olive. I didn't feel the atmosphere of the place, felt kind of messy.

Worst seafood risotto ever , I was super expecting enjoy the meal with the wonderful view, but it turned into a disaster, the seafood is fresh and quite tasty, but the rice? Can you imagine it's like raw rice? It's too hard to eat! I just can't believe it cost 17 euros to have such a bad meal!

I don't say that about a lot of places. Matter of fact I don't say that at all. But this place is the best place to enjoy seafood and local wines. This food is bound to make you sad. Sad because you don't live here and cannot enjoy it weekly. Very friendly staff, wines are amazing and the food is to die for. Hard to compare it to something, you have to try it. And when you do, you'll discover what this city and area are all about. Because one plate and a glass of wine here will tell you more about this place than a tour guide in three hours.

Fine dining restaurant
Hiša Franko is a renowned restaurant with stylish rooms in a converted inn in the countryside. The meal was a well-directed production and exceptional in all respects. Hisa Franko offers accommodation which adds another dimension to the experience, making it one of the best fine dining restaurants around. Highly recommended!
We planned the trip to Hiša Franko at the end of our visit to Slovenia. We booked a room and dining experience. To be honest, it feels homey to stay there. The room is spacious and super clean, we got the room with a big balcony. We felt that everything was so thoughtful and well managed. The property itself is so beautiful, love how peaceful it is. The dinner experience as expected was extraordinary, we were assisted by Alan and the team. Every dish was well explained, and we learned new flavors combinations. Interesting! What we appreciate the most are the nature that is incorporated into the dishes and the local ingredients that come from the surroundings, as we have seen on Netflix. The wines selected by the sommelier were superb and we're in love with their homemade cheese too, it is to die for. I can not skip the breakfast part, one of the best we ever had. Everything was so fresh and again everything was homemade. It was a perfect way to end our journey in Slovenia.

I agree with many reviewers that the menu is creative with many interesting spices but some of the dishes are not my personal favourites. The service though is really good. I had a very pleasant evening. Having said that, i actually prefer their breakfast -- creative yet comforting.

It is always an experience to visit this temple of fine dining. From the first step into the restaurant you are in the team's good hands and perfect service. Thank you. Six distinctive experiences and combinations that are worth exploring.

We booked the New Year's dinner in Hisa Franko only to have it cancelled mid November because the owner decided to celebrate her birthday. There is nothing wrong with celebrating your birthday but canceling mid-November is not professional. We had accommodations booked and needed to scramble last minute to find something else super late in the year. This kind of customer treatment is not worthy of 2 Michelin stars! Very disappointed!

Bravo! Ana Ros was one of the chefs that I truly fell in love with when I watched her story on Chef’s Table. Hisa Franko is an amazing restaurant located in Slovenia. I was here for the first time, but definitely not the last. It is really hard to find a place that is filled with such love and passion by these amazing waiters and chefs that, in a way, it is really hard to comment. From the beginning to the end, you are treated like you are at your grandparents' house. Each detail was spotted. Can you imagine that I am left-handed and they modify the whole set-up on the table according to me? This has never happened to me before, and I would really like to show my appreciation to the waiters that have been with us this evening. We were checked out during the evening by the manager to see if everything was fine, and I was not able to find the perfect words to explain to him how impressed I am. We were also lucky that some of the chefs from the kitchen came out and explained some plates to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Because of you, we will definitely come back to your restaurant soon. It is really not so easy to find a place and see so many young, motivated, passionate, and professional people. Keep it up!
Irene Smith — Google review
I was there two weeks ago and really enjoyed the experience. Service very attentive and well prepared, the new menu 50 shades of red was diverse and well executed. I particularly enjoyed the classic polenta bignet, the crispy and soft wild plant sandwich with fermented beans paste, and the roebuck with kiwi. The only not convincing was the orzotto which didn’t provide any kick. I did not go for a pairing but we took some kombuchas and a champagne bottle plus a couple of wines ad-hoc, I felt this was better value for money. In general the dinner took over 5 hours, it was very pleasant also with a nice music and atmosphere but we left at 12.30 and I felt maybe some waiting times could be cut. Highlight was naturally having ana there and even coming to take the empty plates - she is definitely more down to earth than some other three stars chefs I have met! For me it was one of the best three stars experiences I had overall, as you feel almost at home at Hiša. We will be back!

incredibly overrated, failed in their pursuit to push the boundaries. Not worth the trip and much better options locally in the surrounding villages. Horrible food and worse service by rude waters that didn't want honest feedback

For those looking to be surprised with creative flavor combinations and to discover ingredients of the region, I'd highly recommend this place. Of course this is not your typical restaurant experience. Much better in fact, it's an exciting 3-4 hour long adventure. We chose the "funky" wine pairings and all the pairings were on point. We were happy to have given the sommelier carte blanche. We left satisfied, but a few of the dishes could have been a tiny bit larger.

Just wow! Visited Hiša Franco for their tasting menu - a truly wonderful experience. We also got to visit the kitchens at the end of the sitting and chat to chefs / cooks - a really lovely touch!

Service was good but unfortunately the food was ranging between bad to mediocre, with maybe 1 or 2 dishes that were somewhat good. Honestly I was really excited to try this place, but it was easily the worst meal we had in Slovenia, comparing to both simple, delicious countryside places and to Michelin starred ones. This place getting 3 Michelin stars is truly a mystery to me.

What an absolutely amazing experience!! The ambiance and quality were perfection. As soon as I am able to return, I will! Affordable (in my opinion) for what you get in terms of food, service, and atmosphere. I would highly recommend!

Wow what an outstanding experience 🤩🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. We booked room and dinner. We started by having a few drinks in the lovely garden and then later we moved into the dining room in the restaurant. We had over 17 course and topped it all with a cheese platter. The food, the tastes, the service, the passion, the energy and the story telling was five star and everything was excellent from start to finish. We took the wine package and the Sommelier guided us and created such a wonderful taste journey. After a lovely night we slept very well and next day at breakfast we where serves the most beautiful breakfast we ever had. It was just so pretty and tasty. We highly recommend this place 💛

I think this was the most pretentious dining experience we have ever experienced. Most disappointing, over the top expensive, and a dinner that took over 4 hours. Adventurous menu not to my liking. To boot, one of our diners was sick after the meal! Accommodation was top notch.

Fantastic considering all aspects. Did not get to take advantage of the accommodation, therefore will not be reviewing that. The food is amazing, with the menu being well thought out. Giving the chance for all of the dishes to shine, it encompasses the sort of an experience which could be described only as a morning to evening trip through the surrounding landscape. The choice of wine pairing is up to the guest, I did not opt for it due to the fact that I am not an avid wine consumer. The staff is rather attentive, communicative, patient and well prepared. Overall 10/10. Definetly would revisit whenever I would get the chance.

Gostilna Avguštin is a popular restaurant with a stunning terrace offering breathtaking views. It's advisable to book a table in advance due to its popularity. The food is highly praised, especially the seafood plate and mushroom starter soup. The staff is friendly and provides great recommendations on food and wine. However, some visitors experienced longer waiting times for their dishes and found the temperature uncomfortably hot on the terrace.
Absolutely LOVED this place. The mushroom starter soup was delicious, the steak and truffle gnocchi amazing...deserts, only 4,...everything, was just delicious. Could not be happier with our lunch. 80€ for 3 of us, but starters, mains, deserts, water, wine x1 and coffee...you get really good quality.

Just perfect. I am Italian so I am a bit pretentious about food. We took the fish plate which was huge and super fresh. Amazing service, amazing ambience. It was my birthday and I am going to remember it for some time. Compared to Italy and to touristic restaurant is also very cheap. 5 stars!

Food and service absolute 5 stars, the view from the terrase is gorgeous! I rate 4 stars becouse it was terribly hot, we couldn't even enjoy our food because of the hotness and we left earlyer then planned.

Incredible and unforgettable experience. The view from the terrace is just unbelievably picturesque. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. They made great recommendations on food and wine without any hesitation. On top of that the food was delicious. I will definitely come back.

Absolutely loved it here! We found it by mistake walking around. We saw a restaurant saying terrace with a view so we walked in 😂 to our surprise it was PACKED! We were incredibly lucky we found a table left so definitely book a table prior to going. The view is amazing and the food was incredible! We had the seafood plate and it was one of the best we ever had! For drinks definitely try the blackberry liquor if you’re into sweet locally made drinks ❤️

Super fun. Friendly staff. Go for service and views. Food was traditional but not special. Our visit was more about experience than food so it was a great visit

Good food, but we had to wait more then 1h for our dish, waiters were friendly, but didnt pay enough attention: while we were waiting for our food our waiter didnt even asked us if we'd like to get maybe more wine or water or if we need something. So probably we just had bad luck, but in general looks like a good place.

Very good typical Slovenian foot. We took the typical dish for two and ate a lot! Great service (they also recommended and made us trying typical Slovenian spirits) Good value for money

Very beautiful view, but remember to go inside for back balkony view. Tasty food, big portions. Prices for main dish between 11-25euro. We had meat and calamari each around 12euro. For two times main dish, beers and one soup bill was 35euro.

Tasty with a great variety of local dishes. Prices are expensive though. Service was excellent. The ginger cookies museum in the ground floor is nice but the cookies are a different story...

We have been to the restaurant twice so we had a chance to eat both, sea food and meet. Both are amazing, my favorite is beef tagliata “Buškarin”. Staff is very professional and friendly! Will come back again for sure.

Stopped here for lunch and had a very pozitive experience. The wait staff were quick, friendly and knowledgable. We chose a dish from the chef's menu and were promptly informed that the dish takes thirty minutes to prepare. We were in no hurry and chose to wait. While se waited we snacked on delicious appetizers and sampled local prosciutto with cheese. The main dish, Bream baked in salt, was well worth the wait. The presentation was world class and the fish was delicious. We were server fish cheeks on separate spoons prepared with black pepper and olive oil and found them delicious. The whole experience was a treat and we paid 75€ for food and drink for three people (two adults and a teenager, who was not hungry but proceeded to devour the delicious food with glee) not including the wine.

Great restaurant with a very friendly and charming service. The suggested wines were a very good match with our food. You should for sure try one of the fish dishes (like the sea bass or trout). Highly recommended for a reasonable price.

Excellent seafood restaurant. The service was spot on. The dishes were creative yet within the acceptable range of satisfying. The wine list is thoughtful and helped us appreciate Slovenian wines. We went twice during our 4 night stay in Bovec and we will definitely return whenever we are back in the area. Make reservations in advance!

We were impressed with Hotel Hvala hotel reception desk to the wait staff at their fabulous restaurant. Our clean comfy room had a lovely balcony overlooking Main Street albeit Kobarid is very small. Kobarid is worth a detour from whatever destination you’re planning, as there is abundant history, good food and friendly people to make your visit memorable. The town is exemplary of sLOVEnia!

One of the best meals of our 11 days in Slovenia. Absolutely an outstanding meal in terms of quality of the food and the service. Great wines and exceptional assistance with wine selection. Would recommend this restaurant enthusiastically.

Family run restaurant and and easily one of the best choices in Kobarid where you can expect incredible service and beyond amazing food. Seafood lovers will definitely enjoy it here (crudo & oysters!!) and the whole atmosphere was just great at dinner sitting. They have plenty of great wine options so we gladly followed the pairing recommendations. Please say thank you to our host & sommelier Žiga, we’ll definitely revisit soon. 👌

Probably the best accomodation for money in region. We were told restaurant is also great but didn't have reservation so we couldn't try, and didn't want to bother waiter with "checking if there is a free table". Fortunately in walking distance there are 5-6 places to eat. Room had no A/C, breakfast was lovely!

Highly recommend this place! Exceptional seafood (especially crudo), great selection of wines by sommelier Žiga and extremely kind, attentive staff. A must visit, but make sure to book a room as well so you can splurge with wines during dinner.
