Glen Moray Distillery

Mentioned on
Distillery
Food & Drink
The Glen Moray Distillery offers an exceptional tour experience at a reasonable price. Visitors are treated to an informative and entertaining guided tour of the distillery, which lasts about an hour and includes a generous whiskey tasting session with two distinct selections. The knowledgeable hosts provide valuable insight into the production process and history of whiskey-making, while also making the experience enjoyable with their humorous anecdotes. In addition, visitors have access to a well-stocked gift shop that offers reasonable prices on high-quality products.
One of the best distillery tours I've been on. The host was knowledgeable and funny, gift shop was very reasonable and the drams were generous, 5/5.

A disappointing visit. We arrived mid-afternoon and wanted a whisky and chocolate flight. We had to wait to be served as the staff were chatting and then they looked inconvenienced (rolling eyes to each other) when we ordered. As an aside, we were also disappointed in the whisky itself, but that is a personal taste thing.

Almost 4 weeks ago and want to go back! Visited the distillery for the second time within a year. Last year we had the Glen Moray House tasting hosted by Emma. A real treat, stunning drams and nice food combination. This year we booked the Ambassador's tour with Ian Allan and we had a great time. Excellent story's, walking around the distillery and the tasting afterwards was superb. Great service, good value, and the visitor's centre is a gem!

Great tour of the distillery. Guide was informative. For £7 the tour was well worth the money and lasts about an hour. A tasting session with two whiskey's is included.

For anyone visiting Elgin and the whisky distilleries that are there GlenMoray,Linkwood,Benriach,Coleburn then you won't be disappointed.Although some aren't opened to the public,Elgin the City is beautiful in its own right and there's plenty to do.If its whisky related that you are there for ,then you are in Speyside ,and only a short drive to Rothes,Craigellachie,Dufftown and Aberlour with a host of distillries in between, and some of the most iconic brands there aswell, such as Glen Grant,Macallan,Glenfiddich,Balvenie,Aberlour,Glenallachie,Mortlach and many more.

The Glen Moray distillery Heritage (formerly Intermediate) tour was a real treat. The new production area is very impressive, and it was interesting to see the twin condensers on the spirit stills - something we hadn't seen before. Sophie was an excellent, friendly and knowledgeable guide and looked after us extremely well during our tasting in Glen Moray house! The distillery exclusives were a very pleasant surprise and although we hadn't planned any purchases, we came away with 3 bottles! Please do not overlook this distillery when visiting Speyside.

Fantastic visit. Gayle was really helpful and lovely. Informative tour with generous whisky tasting thrown in. All for £7, kids free. Well worth a couple of hours. Lovely whisky too!
Nick Smith — Google review
We had such a wonderful tour. Our tour guide Andrew was lovely, had a passion for his job. He wasn't just parroting information at his, he was interested and enjoyed his job. The tasters at the end were lovely, Andrew even remembered what I liked the smell of in the warehouse and got a sample for me to try. The warehouse was amazing! The smells were also incredible! Thank you! And a huge thank you to Andrew

We booked a distillery tour at Glen Moray with a timeslot. The tour was interesting, with a few fun facts. In some production areas, we couldn't hear our guide, as the machines were very loud and he didn't use the mic. During our tour, there were several other tours ongoing, so it was confusing, as you could hear their information as well and we sometimes had to wait in line for them to finish. The car park is also very confusing, as you have 4 visitors parking places in front and a bigger visitors parking behind the warehouse, but this is not well indicated. Interesting to visit, but to us, this distillery is not targeted or build to receive bigger groups for guided visits. For example: gift shop, bar and tasting after the distillery visit is all in the same dark room, so it gets a bit crowded. Still, they have a lot of different whiskeys to offer at a reasonable rate and have unique gift ideas in the gift shop.

Great little spot. Good tour with friendly staff. Nice tasting afterwards. Paid for the cask strength tasting - a nice line up of unique whisky flavors. Ended up staying for lunch after the tour and tasting. We went on a Thursday, it was quite relaxing and there were few people.

Me any my friends recent visit to Glen Moray Distillery, was outstanding one of the unique experiences. Our guide Rafal, a knowledgeable guy made the tour informative and enjoyable. We explored and discussed the whisky-making process from start to the end of warehouse and his guidance during the tasting session was fantastic. It was wonderful visit for us, we really enjoyed it.
hirapara mohit — Google review
This is a famous whisky brand and the distillery is excellent. There are whisky tours, tastings, a nice visiting centre with shop and café. There is a wide-ranging choice of whiskeys in the shop. The port finished and sherry finished whiskeys have most comprehensive palates. These I would definitely recommend for tasting. Our choice was the 21yo portwood finish.

I recently had the pleasure of embarking on the Glen Moray distillery tour, and I must say, it was an absolute delight for whisky enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of captivating, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of whisky production. The tour began with a warm welcome from the knowledgeable and friendly staff who shared a genuine passion for their craft. Their expertise and enthusiasm shone through as they guided us through the distillery, explaining the intricate processes involved in creating Glen Moray's renowned whiskies. It was truly enlightening to witness the meticulous attention to detail and the artistry that goes into every bottle. One of the highlights of the tour was exploring the distillery's traditional copper stills. The sight of these magnificent vessels, standing proud and gleaming, was awe-inspiring. Our guide expertly explained how these stills play a crucial role in shaping the distinct flavors and characteristics of Glen Moray whiskies. It was a privilege to gain insight into the craftsmanship that has been honed over generations. As we walked through the warehouse, the delightful aroma of whisky maturing in oak casks filled the air. The guide shared fascinating anecdotes about the maturation process and how the unique characteristics of the barrels influence the final product. The sensory experience of being surrounded by countless casks, each with its own story to tell, was truly memorable. Of course, no distillery tour would be complete without a tasting, and Glen Moray did not disappoint. The tasting session allowed us to sample a selection of their exceptional whiskies, showcasing the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into every bottle. The flavors ranged from smooth and mellow to rich and complex, offering a delightful exploration of the distillery's diverse range. The tour concluded with a visit to the distillery shop, where a wide array of Glen Moray whiskies and related merchandise awaited. The friendly staff provided personalized recommendations based on our preferences, ensuring that we could take a piece of the Glen Moray experience home with us.
Roberto Ferraris — Google review
Great tour experience! They took us through the entire process of making their whiskey and we got to go in each building while they were working. They had really good visual props to engage all our senses. They give you 2 samples at the end but we paid for an additional tasting ( totally worth it)! We had the last tour of the day, but I didn't feel like we were rushed out which was nice. I would definitely highly recommend it!
meganlynne18 — Google review
Informative and engaging tour hosted by Sophie. Good explanation of the process and not rushed. Testing a couple of drams at the end always a pleasure, no pressure to purchase anything. Still came away with two bottles. Thank you
David “Goatrid_Goat” Stirling — Google review
This was an informative tour of the distillery from grain to whisky. We have been in many USA bourbon distillery tours and found this one quite enjoyable. Sophie was our guide and was knowledgeable and pleasant. Having been in the Heaven Hills distillery tour in Kentucky it was fun to see where their used bourbon barrels go (bourbon barrels can only be used once for bourbon…tidbit of useless knowledge😉). We recommend the company send Sophie on a training mission to complete the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky to compare the similarities and differences in dialing styles (she deserves it).

Elgin Cathedral

Mentioned on
Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Elgin Cathedral is a 13th-century church with two towers, vaulted archways, and stone carvings. It is situated in a location with ample parking available for a fee. Visitors can expect to pay £9, unless they are members. The site features displays of rescued stonework and explanations of their historical significance. Additionally, there is a Pictish cross slab and interesting gravestones on the premises.
We came here on a saturday on the way east. You can see the cathedral from far away and you could get some pics and a look without entering the site even. But make sure that you actually DO visit the whole site, since there's lots to see and learn. Since we're members entrance was free and our Bulldog was welcome as well on site. Building began in the first half of the 1200s. The cathedral was once richly carved and adorned with stained glass and painted decoration. A lot has gone, but a lot is still here and you still can image what a sight it must have been when it was whole. After the Protestant Reformation it was only used sometimes for Catholics and started its demise. The grounds, the cathedral, the graveyard. All equally impressive. Some sections you can visit from the inside as well and climb up. There's so much to read, see and learn. That's why it is very rewarding to actually enter the site and not just take a pic and leave. A wonderful, beautiful piece of history.
Alex Haas — Google review
If you are someone who loves history, this is for you. The history of this place is quite interesting and the ruins are wealth as it reminds us of a past that we can only picture. Once a cathedral that has seen multitude of transformations, it’s mere ruins now, yet majestic with what’s left.
Jezvin George — Google review
I found the history behind this beautiful Cathedral ruin, absolutely intriguing 🔥 As I walked through the graveyard, reading the gravestones, I felt a sense of that Era come alive for me 🙏 I never knew that kilts were only worn later in Scottish history too.. The tour was really informative and the walk up to top was worth the view alone ❤️

I visited Elgin cathedral at night and was captivated by its stunning beauty. Despite the darkness, the cathedral's grandeur was still striking. Elgin cathedral is a remarkable historical site located in Elgin, Scotland. Built in the 13th century, it showcases impressive Gothic architecture and intricate details. It served as a place of worship for centuries and played a significant role in the religious and cultural history of the region. Although now in ruins, its surviving structures and remnants highlight its former magnificence. Exploring the cathedral offers a glimpse into the past and a chance to appreciate the craftsmanship and artistry of this iconic landmark.
Kyle Michaels — Google review
It was a surprise how much the whole family enjoyed this cathedral, even in the pouring rain. The architecture is amazing, and the ruins well preserved. You must go up the towers to visit the amazing displays of preserved stonework. The artwork and craftsmanship are stunning. Then go up onto the top to see breathtaking views. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well.
Christopher Herlong — Google review
Great little stop on your Northeast Scotland tour. 10£ per person gets you in. Nice little gift shop at the entrance. You can explore pretty much anything you can see. Lots of great history with little plaques setting the scene.
Christian Chesley — Google review
I was in two minds whether to go in or not. I’m not into ruins. But it turns out that they have an absolutely fantastic permanent exhibition in the towers explaining all sorts of quirks and detail about stone masonry. And you get a fabulous view from the top. Kids would love climbing the stairs, it’s quite an adventure.
Alan — Google review
The Cathedral was so amazing. It was £10 for entry, which was definitely worth it as I spent about 3 hours there. The towers have been turned into museums, displaying different pieces of stone from the Cathedral. I would recommend it to any history lover or anyone interested in local history.
Ryan Martin — Google review
Came across this randomly on our roadtrip of Scotland a few years back. We didn't even know the name of it until I looked it up months later. Was really cool to walk around the ruins, along the fence anyways. I think you had to pay to go in, but we were content with walking around, as there was some information plaques along the fencing. Definitely a really cool random find, just sitting in the middle of this town!
Jeremy Hannaford — Google review
Parking is available all round the site, chargeable. Plenty of spaces. It costs £9 to get in unless you are a member. There are displays in the two towers of rescued stonework and explanations of them. The Pictish cross slab is a bonus, the gravestones are also interesting. We were there for half an hour.
Joseph Kincaid — Google review
Amazing hidden gem! History and architecture are awe inspiring. Could easily spend more than just an hour or two soaking it all up. Looking forward to visiting again
Rachael Hamilton — Google review
Fabulous ruins of what would have been a wonderful building before it was burned down in 1390 , the two towers at the south end can be climbed and the priory is a wonderful building that escaped the worst of the attack. At £10 its not cheap to enter the grounds but there is much to see at ground level with statues , gravestones and carvings from the roof on show
Tork Mackenzie — Google review
We arrived late so were able to visit only from outside. It was our last day in the area but worth the visit. The building are only the remains of what seems to be a large and beautiful ancient church. There was easy to find street parking but maybe because it was about 6pm.
Roberto Ferraris — Google review
Fascinating place and well worth the visit. The staff here are most informative. Just make sure to go through the building to the right of the padlocked gates at the front of the Cathedral. We were also pleased that it was dog friendly, although dogs are not allowed inside of the buildings. We managed to park around the perimeter of the cathedral, although we visited in October half term for England, and it was not busy at all, so may be busier during the summer.
Kay Hepwood — Google review
Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Great ruin sight and really informative. A really well kept site and the man in the shop was really helpful when we had questions to ask. We came rather out of season, and late in the day. There wasn't any guided tours at the time, but we made our own way around. It was rather nice.
Cosmo Ash — Google review
The grounds were lovely and the exhibits showcasing the stonework were very well detailed. Could have spent all day reading and wandering around the towers. I will definitely be returning!
Maddie Murphy — Google review
A very unique place to visit. You don’t get to walk around or even see a hollowed out church to often. If you are able to visit it’s worth it, even just to walk fully around the outside. It does cost to enter £10 per person.
Nathan Hilborn — Google review
After trying to get a slot to visit all summer we went on at 2pm on a Saturday on a very cold, windy October on the off-chance we'd get in. No queue and a really helpful guy on the front desk. Loads to see with QR codes to scan at most points. So many different stone examples to look at with a computer to view other stone examples if you don't fancy climbing the tower. We climbed the tower with our preschooler. It's a narrow spiral staircase and some of the steps are smaller than others so do be careful. The view from the top is amazing and well worth the climb. There are a few rooms with displays on the way so you can stop and rest. Toilets available in the entrance with some trinkets to buy. I'd definitely go again. (The toilets were lovely and warm and very clean) We spent about an hour and a half here and there was still more to look at.
Laura — Google review
The staff at EC are always so friendly when I pop in for a wander. Lovely place and a warm atmosphere with history entwined. The climb up the tower isn’t too crazy, but the stairs are narrow and may not be best for those who struggle with mobility and/or dizziness. Look out for the carvings in those very stairs as they used to be headstones. So interesting! Recommend a visit.

The Catholic, Benedictine monastery known as Pluscarden Abbey dates back to the 13th century and is situated in a remote location surrounded by tranquility. The abbey is open to visitors for church services and offers a unique opportunity to experience the presence of God in such an ethereal environment. Despite being closed due to Covid restrictions, the beautiful architecture and historic significance of the building are not diminished.
Beautiful but the Abbey was closed due to Covid. We still had a lovely time walking in the grounds and visiting the gift shop.

Simply fantastic abbey located in the middle of nowhere, so silent around it. You can easily feel God around the place. Shame it is still closed for visitors because of covid.

Simply stunning…..a majestic 13th century Benedictine Monastery. A place for great reflection and spending quality one to one with god. The surrounding architecture is beautiful, telling a visual story of religious practice over the past 800 years. The gardens and lands are well kept and allow plenty of opportunity to walk around and take in the environment. Visitors can explore the inside of the abbey, again a stunning environment shrouded in religious beauty. The abbey offers Mass to the public and the opportunity to watch the monks participate in Georgian chat is unmissable. I would rate this visit well above 5 stars and a must!!

A very special place for all faiths but especially if you're Catholic. The Latin mass was beautiful and touching. The monks were friendly and very welcoming. A serene place to reflect in peace and harmony. A beautiful place to visit. A definite must.

Another item ticked off our places to visit list. Still as beautiful as I remember. Such a peaceful place set in stunning surroundings. Inhabited by Benedictine monks, this is a working Abbey. There are plenty of wildlife to see in the grounds so keep your eyes and ears peeled. There looks to be renovations planned to the site. There is plenty of parking and picnic tables available. Entry and parking is free but I am sure they would appreciate any donations to help them with day yo day and the renovation costs. Fully recommend a visit to see something a little different.

A very quite and peaceful place, where people can stay and contemplate life. Monks live and work there & hold regular services in the church, which has been rebuilt after falling into disrepair. The church has lovely stained glass windows & although plain, is atmospheric. It has a car park and well worth a visit!

A beautiful building from tje 13th century, partly destroyed during the Reformation, partly restored in the 20th century. It is an active monastry with monks living on the grounds. You can visit parts of the buildings, and attend the services. There is a small shop that sells some local produce and some religious items. The Abby lies in a valley surrounded by forests. Well worth a visit

Duffus Castle, a remnant of a 12th-century structure, is an educational and scenic destination for those willing to venture off the beaten path. Visitors can learn about the castle's history from informative boards scattered throughout the area while enjoying dog-friendly paths and breathtaking views. While caution must be taken on slippery hills, it's an ideal location for families with children looking to explore Scotland's past or individuals who enjoy walking. Additionally, there is a small cafe open on weekends and Fridays.
Beautiful place in a great location with pleasant views. Lots of history you can get up close to. Very peaceful in between some impressive Typhoon fly pasts! Free to visit. Free to park. Highly recommended.

Lovely ruin in a lovely location. Popular with dog walkers and there is a snack van at the car park. You do need to walk up a hill with nothing to hold on to which was tricky when I went because it was muddy so I would recommend walking boots. Definitely worth a visit. Absolutely stunning when the sun is setting.

My 2nd time visiting the Duffus Castle ruins over the years. It's a beautiful area and a really cool experience. There's many castles and ruins around the UK and I think it's enjoyable to learn about history and see it with your own eyes. Some days you'll catch a glimpse of fighter jets or patrol planes from Lossiemouth, as they roar over the fields. Definitely recommend and definitely recommended proper footwear!

I once helped a group of writers lead a screaming combat charge UP the embankment to storm the castle. It was, what do you call that, that one, it was a charge, and we knew we had a hobbit hole to return to and after that I saw some big rocks at a stone named hence. The original. I love this place.

We visited here early evening and it was very peaceful. There is a small car park and the castle is a 1 minute walk up a small slope/hill. There is a small cafe hut that is open during the day, but was closed when we arrived. This is a beautiful castle, and the grounds are very well kept. It's nice to be able to visit sites like this at any time of the day.

Spynie Palace, located just outside Elgin, was home to the bishops of Moray for five centuries. The ruins of this 14th-century bishop's palace include a surviving tower that stands at an impressive 72 feet tall, as well as a great hall. In addition to its historical significance, Spynie Palace also featured amenities such as a bowling green and tennis court.

Unfortunately the car park was closed and although the entrance was closed the gates were open and you can walk round what is a large interesting site but can't get into any building and not go up the tower. I think the view from the tower would top the visit. It is £6 each when open unless a historic Scotland member.

Wonderful castle definitely one of my favourites. Lots of nooks to explore and if you climb to the top of the tower you can see for miles. I was lucky enough to sit up there for a while watching jets fly in and out of RAF Lossiemouth which is just up the road. Special mention to employee Donald who was happy to chat away and share some facts - very good at and obviously loves his job :)

Restaurant
The Drouthy Cobbler is a laid back tavern that serves seasonal comfort grub, specialty cocktails and coffee. They use a rich Speyside larder of very fine ingredients to source the best possible Scottish ingredients. The restaurant is dog friendly and fantastic food.
Superb!! We didn't book on a cold Monday evening in November and had to eat outside as all the indoor tables were taken. That a November Monday night is full gives a very good introduction to how the tavern is appreciated locally! Outside we were protected from the elements by huge awnings and with large heaters above every table. We weren't cold nor too hot either. I had haggis bonbons as a starter and an absolutely superb Highland Venison loin for main. The loin was served pink with carrots, broccoli and butter braised potatoes from Roseisle. One of the best meals I've eaten this year. Staff were friendly and attentive, and knew their menu well. Felt like friends and that's a great skill!

Lovely little find just off the main street. There are a few tables outside on the the lane which feels very European. We had Nina Simone playing while there, very cool vibe. The menu is limited but still with a good choice for a nice lunch. We had the open sandwich was absolutely delicious. Staff are super friendly and very helpful and polite. Will definitely come back on an evening for dinner, will update when I do.

The food was great, had the special that was on and the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. It's a very nice place but the service was so slow, took 2 hours for us to have one course and 2 drinks. However it didn't really feel that long as I enjoyed just sitting chatting away. Maybe not the place for food if in a hurry though!

The Drouthy Cobbler is a lovely, warm and friendly place that I would highly recommend. Tucked away on a narrow side street it has instant appeal with welcoming lights and plants decorating the doorway. Once inside we were served by an amazing young team who were helpful, knowledgeable and engaging. The food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced for such good quality. We enjoyed our meal with some lovely wine and followed it with cocktails which were just as good as the food. This is an absolute gem which we will definitely visit again. If you're in Elgin, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing experience from start to finish! The waiters are so friendly, the atmosphere very cozy and a tiny bit chic/elevated (no dresscode though, but perfect for a special date night) and of course the food and drinks are sooo tasty!

Fabulous meal, delicious cocktails 🍸 and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his red wine. Service was faultless so well done to the staff⭐ We had cauliflower and squid to start...both beautifully cooked. Then for main we had a burger and fish n chips. All sounds very basic but it was far from that! Would definitely recommend and when we're back in the area we will definitely make a point to go back. Awesome meal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The most amazing dinning experience yet! I’m currently sitting inside the drouthy cobbler as a surprise birthday meal booked by my husband, and I’m completely blown away by the friendliness of the staff, and the flavours of the food. So accommodating, and I will definitely be back soon for more amazing food and wine. 10/10.

The cafe Rockpool is a popular spot in Cullen, Buckie. It's best to book ahead as it is popular and the servers are lovely and attentive. Both of our testers enjoyed their fish and chips meal, which was good to be back in town.
Rockpool is fairly local to us but due to Covid we haven't been in over 2 years. Its best to book ahead as it is popular. Anyway, the servers were lovely and attentive. We both enjoyed the fish and chips and will be returning to sample the rest of the menu. It was good to be back.

Stopped off here on a miserable day and was amazed to get a seat as it's usually busy. We had a seat near the door but asked to be moved upstairs as heat rises and it was cold by the door. Service was nice and friendly and our fish and chips arrived quite quickly. Lovely tartare sauce and mayo ( not from packets) didn't come with the meal but came when we asked for them. Fish was a good size and cooked well. Chips tasty too. Don't really see the point of serving it on paper as we got a pot of mushy peas which I wanted to eat off the plate and not paper. This was only a small personal observation. Otherwise the meal was very nice.

Nice wee cafe. Friendly service. Ordered one plate to share; it was served on two plates and presented as well as I expect they'd do normally.

Best place to get lunch in the Cullen area hands down. Amazing food and great service, booking is strongly recommended as they get very busy. Some great local crafts for sale too. It's a must visit every time we come back to the area.

I have coeliac disease and often have to miss out on local food when travelling. I was so delighted to happen across the Rockpool Café. The staff were absolutely brilliant, and I was so pleased to be able to safely try the delicious Cullen Skink along with some gluten free bread. I also took a couple of tasty gluten free cakes away for later. I would definitely recommend a visit!

We came for the Cullen Skink, unfortunately we had arrived to late in the day and they had just ran out. The food we did see bring served looked so good that we decided to stay and we were not disappointed. We had the Prawn Tacos and the Smoked Fish Platter and both dishes where great. Compliments to the chef! They also sell good coffee which we took away and delicious looking cakes which we are looking forward to trying later. The staff where friendly and accommodating despite us turning up when they where clearly very busy. Thanks

Stopped here for breakfast yesterday and glad I came early as it was very busy. I recommend you Reserve a table I was lucky to get a seat. Probably one of if not the best breakfast I've had in this area although there was no beans or mushrooms with the breakfast. Good facilities toilets, WiFi, parking and access etc. Ideally located in the center of the village. Staff were amazing, very attentive and the lady who served me never seemed to stop serving from the second I came in the door. I had a full Scottish breakfast with a pot of tea a glass of iron brew and a fruit scone. £19 in total perhaps a little on the high end but very enjoyable

Pleasant Saturday afternoon visit; place was very busy (reserving a table in advance is essential), which made it also very noisy, but that could have been an issue with hearing aids adjustment as majority of patrons seem to be wearing those, that, or they make pensioners plain rowdy these days; Cullen Skink, which seems mandatory in this place, was really good, also happy with our smoked fish platter and fish&chips day and night compared to the chippy located nearby

This is the second time I’ve visited the rock pool cafe and the food is always delicious. Friendly atmosphere and quick service.. the butternut squash, coconut chili soup was delicious with their prawn Marie rose sandwich and their fruit scones are delicious! Highly recommend this place. You need to book a table in advance as their so busy so phone ahead a day before!..

The Harbour Lights cafe is a secluded corner cafe in Lossiemouth, Moray specialising in All daybreak breakfasts, lunches, snacks and home baking. The restaurant on Saturdays evenings transforms into a candlelit establishment with a freshly prepared A la Carte Dinner menu featuring local sourced seasonal ingredients.
This place was absolutely amazing. Went to Scotland for a few days and found this place for a branch. The food was absolutely delicious. Staff very friendly and polite. Will definitely go back when in Scotland.

Very cute spot in the harbour, I had the Special of the Day - Seafood platter and all the ingredients in it were very fresh and tasty, I could taste the “sea”. Meal accompanied by a glass of Sauvignon blanc made it perfect! I would defo come back if I should ever return in this cute coastal town. Perfect spot for families or groups of friend due the wide seating areas, would also work for a quick brunch with a harbour view!

Stopped for a late lunch/early dinner. Lots of outdoor seating, so sat outside with our dog and lots of choices on the menu. I had Cullen Skink which was absolutely delicious. Was on the "lighter bites" menu, but portion was very big/filling. So much so I couldn't find room for one of the lovely looking cakes. Highly recommended.

What’s not to like??? Lovely cafe situated by the marina in Lossiemouth. Very nice pleasant staff, good service, food looks great, coffee and cake delicious. Fairly priced in these trying times as well. On a good day, sun shining, if you’re lucky, you could get an outside seat which just compliments the whole experience.

I debated delaying my review, yet after seeing I was not the first to receive such a similar experience, I decided I would share. Let me first say that I have been in Scotland for 2.5 weeks, a week of which was spent in Glasgow, yet this was the morning of my first day in Lossiemouth. I arrived just after opening and was the first customer, seated at a nice table for a solo traveler, by one of 2 people who had greeted me when I came in. The younger of the 2 by whom I had been greeted is who ended up 'taking care of' my table. I ordered a simple breakfast with coffee, which arrived in a very small cup. Mind you, this cup was £3. As I drank my coffee, I listened, the entire time, to my server talk about plans she was making for what I'm assuming is a wedding or some other event. At no point was I offered more coffee or asked if there was anything else I needed. Eventually, I got up & walked outside where she was still talking and asked for more coffee, as well as a water. Even having had to go find her and ask, I was never approached and asked if there was anything I needed, wanted more coffee, etc...the server must have walked past my table at least 10x, never once even looking at me. I watched her check on other tables, yet I saw the other servers being attentive to their tables. The 2 cups of coffee I had were equivalent to maybe one normal cup & I wanted to have a cappuccino yet did not feel right spending any more money here, so I simply paid my bill and left. I don't know who my server was, as she did not introduce herself, yet I don't think she should be front of house, at least until her 'big party' is sorted out and she's not so distracted. I've dined in multiple locations over the past 2.5 weeks, and it disappoints me to have to write this review as my first and hopefully only poor review.

I fancied some Eggs Benedict and The Harbour Lights seemed to be one of the only places nearby. It’s a lovely little place (if a wee bit pricy) and I enjoyed sitting outside in the fresh air whilst stuffing my face. The ground coffee is also worth a mention. I had 2 cups😋😋

I recently enjoyed a delightful breakfast at the Harbour Lights Cafe in Lossiemouth. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was friendly and efficient. The cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious, with perfectly cooked eggs, bacon, and hearty sausages. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was lovely. The stunning view of the harbor added to the overall experience, making it a truly memorable meal. Old friend of mine introduced me to this place today and I'm glad he did. Situated at the quayside of the harbour it's in a great location. Food was delicious and the general layout of the establishment very clean and neat. Excellent facilities free Wifi and toilets on site. I will definitely come back again when I'm in the area.

Charlotte Paget — Google review

Informative and engaging tour hosted by Sophie. Good explanation of the process and not rushed. Testing a couple of drams at the end always a pleasure, no pressure to purchase anything. Still came away with two bottles. Thank you

Cardhu Distillery, established in 1811 by Helen Cumming as an illegal operation and later licensed in 1824, is the first distillery to be officially supported by a woman. The distillery offers guided tours detailing the whisky-making process and has a visitor centre where visitors can choose from a range of tours available. A visit to Cardhu Distillery provides insight into its intriguing back story that may surprise even regular consumers of their products.
Just enjoyed a nice ad-hoc visit of Cardhu Distillery, had a tour and tasting of their whisky's. Ailsa made the experience really nice having an uplifting happy banter, setting out what Cardhu is all about. The back story of this distillery is quite surprising, at least to me, even though I've been drinking their product for quite some time. So all in all worth the time and money.
Bas Schuiling — Google review
Cardhu is a part of the Johnny walker blend but has its own single malts as well. I love the fact that this distillery had a strong female ownership in its history. We enjoyed our tour with Lauren. She was a clear and informative presenter. We were concerned this tour would be too repetitive to our previous Glenfarclas distillery tour but this distillery is currently operating so it was quite different. The tasting was very nice and they offer a cocktail for those of us who wanted something not as strong.

Did the distillery tour earlier this week and it was superb. From the moment you drive up to the distillery and see the delightful scenic setting to arriving at the beautiful visitor centre with the lovely, friendly staff it is a first class experience. We were given the tour by Alison who was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The film at the beginning was a great way of getting a sense of the story of Cardhu and the tour was full of different ways of getting information across, not just verbally like most tours tend to be. Tasting the whisky at the end was the icing on the cake and i went home with a couple of purchases to enjoy in the coming weeks! Well done to all the staff at Cardhu for making this a really great experience. Thoroughly recommended.

Very nice facilities and very entertaining and enriching tour. Very professionally guided by Ian. We were in 3 friends and we booked the Cardhu Collection Tour online in advance. I had to change the dates a few weeks before the tour because of changes of circumstances but was all done perfectly. The facilities and the tour are great and the selection of Whisky's at the end is really variated and tasty. It is the only distillery were we got 6 samples. On the other we got maximum 3 for the same sort of price...so this is really also good value for money. I am not an expert but the Whisky's were all good and each one with it's own character. We got the driver's kit bottles for our designated driver. The shop is also well sourced in drinks and gifts. We bought some chocolate, pencil and a nice Cardhu / Columbia jacket a a fair price. I would surely recommend to add this great place to your Whisky Trial.
