Very good food. This is fine dining at its finest. The service matches the food, both excellent. My mom had an issue with her pasta, they whipped up another one super quick. Second time around it was just perfect. Everything else that came out was flawless. Their beef short rib was to die for and the risotto with scallops was divine. Can't wait to go again when I'm back in Halifax!

We had lunch here during our trip to Halifax based on rave reviews from friends and Google and it did NOT disappoint! Not only was everything we had absolutely delicious, and the restaurant was beautiful, our server (I believe her name was Emma) was incredible. She was attentive and recommended some great spots for us to check out. Highly recommend the scallops, even family who normally doesn’t eat seafood loved them! Beautiful atmosphere and amazing staff. Check it out when you’re in town!

The food here was phenomenal! We ordered all seafood and no complaints. Everything was delicious, including my cocktail. The only small complaint that I have is the service, it was lacking and very basic. Otherwise it was perfect. I would come back and I recommend to my friends if they travel to Halifax. Make sure you make a reservation, totally worth it!

Excellent food and atmosphere. Highly impressed with our server. We were a party of 4 and my wife and I are visiting from Vancouver, BC. He never had to ask twice for our orders. Very knowledgeable about the wines and spirits. His explanation of the special for the night was outstanding and was ordered. He even engaged in conversation at the end of our meal without being overbearing. Outstanding service and the food was amazing!! Will definitely return on our next visit. Planning on visiting the sister restaurants as well.

Got a few things I haven't tried in a while. Steak tartare is more or less like many places, mild flavour, doesn't stand out. Scallops were cooked perfectly. Has a sweet fruity butter sauce. But sweet for me, but I think most people will like it. Duck confit risotto was the best one for me. Fall off the bone duck mixes into perfectly cooked risotto with a strong red wine flavor. Plus good portion size. Bonus that they serve non-alcoholic beer!

One of the most famous, popular, and beautiful restaurants in Halifax! Awesome location of being just beside the Atlantic Ocean! Fabulous view needless to say! Appreciate all the thoughtful and prompt service which made my lunch even more enjoyable! What the most memorable thing with this lunch was I was the FRIST ONE enjoyed the meal at the outside Patio in 2022! Wow! The Ribs were so delicious and the best one forever! Not only perfectly tender, soft, but most importantly Juicy! The French fires was tasty, crispy and salty in a refined way! Wonderfully enjoyed! Highly recommended! You must come and try! I've been wanting to leave a review since before the pandemic! This place is AMAZING! The atmosphere is lovely, both inside and outside. Every server I've had has been incredibly friendly. The GM takes the time to stop by and ask how my experience has been. And the food...oh my goodness! Every time I forget how unbelievable it is! I try to order something different every time. I've had almost every appetizer on the menu and they all are so flavorful! I HAVE to have the lobster roll as a main and it is THEE BEST! The prices are very affordable for the amount of food you get. Their homemade rosemary bread and roasted pepper hummus is addictive! I can't say enough great things about the bicycle thief and hope your experience is as wonderful as mine!

We stopped by during our Royal Caribbean cruise vacation. This place did not let us down. The food is spectacular and well seasoned. The portions are amazing and the quality and taste deserve a 5 star rating. We had mussels for the appetizer. For the main course we had the lobster pasta and the lobster roll. And for the dessert we had the butterscotch cake. We recommend them all. Great atmosphere too. It was a great day to sit outside.

First and foremost, our server (Paige I believe) was hands down the best server I have had in quite some time. Her eloquence in the menu tour, attention to detail, and her service was 10/10. Recognition for her service is what directed me to leave this review. Had a hard time deciding between the fish cakes and seafood past, she added on a fish cake to my order so I could try a bit of each. This did not disappoint. The seafood pasta was easily one of the best pastas I had. Scallops cooked to perfection. Lobster roll was fresh and flavorful. Cocktails, flavorful but still spirit forward. Ambiance was good too. Just found the bar area a little too cramped. Seriously, thank you Paige for your service, the bicycle club is lucky to have you. Cheers

Our waiter was fantastic. Low key and funny. Didn’t catch his name. Love the low lighting and ambience. Place has the best vibe. Highly recommend the Atlantic salmon and my daughter recommends the chowder and ravioli! So many great dishes to choose from. You cannot go wrong.

It's about a 4 1/2 over all for me. The service was very friendly, the steak was so tender, it was almost like butter and desserts were spot on. I think I liked the chocolate cake the most. I got 3 desserts, took them home and shared them to find what I liked best. Atmosphere here is fine dining. Great view to. They improvised a drink here for me, called Miami Nights. Strawberry, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice and some liquors. It was perfect! Coconut cream pie is the one with the chocolate drizzle.

Oh so good! Better than I remembered coming here last fall. A *must* visit place when visiting Calgary. What can I say? The tenderloin tartar was to die for, burger was delectable and I haven't tried a pasta dish there I didn't like. Well balanced, perfectly seasoned, crisp chips and fine attention to detail. Service was on point, we were at the bar and Marcus was outstanding!

Staff went above and beyond to help us celebrate our anniversary. We were lucky enough to be seated with a gorgeous view of the harbour, and every course of our meal was delicious to the very last bite. One of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time. We felt like royalty, and were given plenty of time to enjoy and digest. The sweet surprise message on our dessert at the end was a lovely touch. Every element of each plate was perfectly balanced. Our compliments to the chef (the lamb was magical), and to the impeccable service as we never had to wait or ask for someone’s attention. Thank you so very much for a worthwhile experience in fine dining!

The food was amazing! It was the best beef short rib I've had. The dessert, scallops, and pasta we had were good too. The drinks we well made and the table service were good. The location was great and right at the water. My only criticism was that the bathroom looked like a tornado blew through it. There was no paper towel in the dispenser, the facial tissue was soaked and the floor/counter was soaked too. I made a mention of it when I used the washroom earlier in the meal, but it was not addressed for the whole meal. I expected more at the restaurant of this caliber.

Is this a must try? YES indeed. This place deserves to be one of top restaurants in Halifax. Service was great, food was delicious and the atmosphere was inviting, with a stunning view of the harbour. We started with the Mussels, Octopus and Calamari. I must say one of the best calamari dishes I have had in Canada. It had the best texture, flavour and quantity. We ordered the Lobster Linguine, Pistachio honey crusted Salmon (the pistachio topping went well with the salmon) and lastly Spaghetti so fruit de Mare. My favourite was the Salmon and Lobster Linguine. Make sure if you like it spicy, add Tabasco sauce. The pasta will be on a whole new level. Overall this place is definitely a “MUST, GO TO PLACE” Make sure to reserve a table before you walk in. It's always busy!

Amazingly delicious food that truly fed my soul! Lobster chowder was the best chowder I have ever had! Pistachio crusted Salmon was very flavourful and it was beautifully paired with green beans, few potatoes and carrots. My husband and I sat on the patio and it was very enjoyable, we didn't use them but they tie blankets to the top of chairs for you to use. It was great spot to see Halifax Harbour and to do some people watching! Fantastic service too!

It's ridiculous how good this place is. We went for lunch as a group of 4 and had a great experience. Honestly, every single meal was delicious, but some of my favorites were by far the Salmon Pistachio, the Seared Scallops and the Lobster Linguine. Oh and for desert, the Brown Butter & Bourbon gelato was excellent. The staff was super friendly and even helped us with some local recommendations for what to do next in town. Overall, this restaurant is a very strong recommend if you are in Halifax.

My waitress was one of the best I’ve ever had… and as a salesman that travels across Eastern Canada, I was really impressed! (I had to mention it to her) she said it takes two to tango and appreciated the compliment, but I was being honest and this was what prompted me to leave a review. The team worked well together, and everything was on point! Everything from welcoming, to menu selection and recommendations, and toping off my drink and making sure everything was being experienced as it should. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE we met in Halifax said we had to go to the Bicycle Thief to eat…. We are SOOOOO happy we did!!! Our waitress Sasha was THE BEST and she also just happened to be from Sarnia Ontario where we live… so funny!!! Michael the bartender played along with our drink orders of “pretend it’s summer”… the bar here is so beautiful it looks like a piece of art! We ordered the beef short rib pasta and were promised a “life changing meal” and that it was!!!! Eat here, it’s more than a meal it’s an experience!

Decent pricing and food was above average. They brought out all the food together so my pasta was a bit cold. Lobster roll wasn’t the greatest, but restaurant is at an ideal location. Good for a one time visit if you’re in the area.

I was so impressed and satisfyingly full after leaving The Bicycle Thief. From drinks to appetizers, from the main course to dessert, everything actually blew my mind. The freshest seafood and the most beautiful atmosphere. This place is a treasure and I can’t wait to eat here again.

The Bicycle Thief has a beautiful atmosphere and for that alone I would go back. It also has a great view if it wasn’t for the fog/rain. I had their lobster roll and it was delicious. The best one I’ve had so far. Lots of filling inside a delicious bun. The salad it came with was also very good. I just didn’t enjoy the fries. They tasted like typical fast food fries. But I’m not changing my review for the fries because I really enjoyed the rest. I really like their logo.

Went to here for dinner last night during the storm, and it was busy! First time here and it was amazing, from the food, the vibe and to the service. Everything was great! The drinks were good, but the food was definitely the star of the show. The octopus were so flavourful! For the main, I got the bolognese (beef and pork) and it was delicious! Packed with flavour, and just overall amazing.

After a long walk on the promenade, choosing a restaurant was a challenge. I'm glad to say we picked the right one and luckily had space to accommodate us as it was busy. Since Lobster Roll is on the menu, we had to try it as it is pretty much a local delicacy of the area. It tasted great and surprisingly small. I would have wanted a bit more as it was tasty. The sides, chips and salad are good additions. The Rosemary bread is nice. We also had a delicious salad which was well made and presented. The staff were a little attentive and not very engaging. The atmosphere was alright and busy. There is also outdoor seating.

We didn’t make an appointment but we were allowed to dine at the bar. The food was excellent! Highly recommend the duck breast. The cocktails were amazing—the pandora one was truly delicious. And a whole aesthetic experience too! As well, the bartenders were SO personable and friendly. They were a pleasure to talk to—we had some wonderful conversations throughout the night! Made the whole experience feel like a dinner party—super fun. They were also professional and respectful and made sure that our needs were met. Highly recommend.

So impressed by this restaurant! The interior design created a wonderful ambiance, the space was much bigger than expected. The servers were very on point and kind. The food was spectacular with a stacked menu that makes me want to come back for more.

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! The customer service is beyond anything I've seen anywhere. We made a reservation on OpenTable and placed a note that we were celebrating a couple of things; we didn't expect our note to be read at all. Not only did our waitress Laura acknowledge our celebrations, she completely made our day with complimentary drinks, food and dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious! The seafood was fresh and clean, the linguine was made in-house and not drenched in cream, and the chocolate cake tasted like heaven. I would recommend this place to anyone!

What a fantastic surprise. Went in expecting a good meal but left with an outstanding experience. This meal was a 10. The freshness Of the fish is a difference maker. Service was polite, efficient and friendly. Crafted cocktails at the bar and a good selection of wines. Best meal so far this year. Outstanding!

An upscale experience for sure but I don't know that the food necessarily deserved the same? Pricing felt a little too expensive for what was served. Regardless the food was tasty and well made. Service was quick and friendly. Our waiter was so personable which made the restaurant experience feel less formal - because we certainly weren't.

This place is fantastic! Was a recommendation from a friend. We were only in Halifax for two nights but after enjoying it so much the first night we returned. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. The whole place had a great vibe with friendly staff and excellent music. Our server Sydney was excellent! She made several recommendations and was spot on with each one. The drinks we enjoyed were The South End (gin) and Tequila Mockingbird (Tequila) and they were delicious! Food: Five Fishermen Experience, Arctic Char (was trout because they were out but was excellent), Oysters Rockefeller, Mushrooms Apps, Seared Scallops, Mussels, and Crab cakes. We did think the serving size of 3 very small scallops was a little lacking, but it tasted very good. I felt like my stomach got a hug after eating here! So good! Would definitely go back next time we are in town.

Carly is one of the best waiter I had in a long time. I have a bachelor degree in Hospitality and restauration management and used to be a restaurant director in Montreal. You are absolutely lucky to have her. She is professional, simple, she seems to really enjoy giving suggestions. She propose us exactly what we were hoping for. Every step of her service was flawless. Thank you for the great night. We will come back for sure if we get the chance to. Delicious food, thanks to the cook too!

My brother and I wanted to try this during our visit to Halifax and it was the best food we have had during our trip. The service was impeccable, the food sumptuous. We recommend the "Five Fish" main course with some entrees and maybe cocktails to wash it all down. We thank the team and our waiter for the great experience and we will definitely recommend it to anyone passing by Halifax!

Disappointing ☹️ Amazing server but food was quite late (1hr wait between appy and main - many at other tables were complaining). Also lobster was so over-cooked they had to remake it. I would still give them another chance seeing the server was so nice, she comp’d desert, and the restaurant has a good reputation.

The place is surprisingly big and spacious. The interrior design is tasteful and elegant, but not too fancy (in my opinion). The overall atmosphere was quiet although the place was quite busy at the time. The menu is clear and simple, though the food itself is very rich and interesting (also very tasty). The service was attentive, nice and professional. The variety of wines and other beverages is nice. We got our orders fairly quick, and the overall experience was very good. The prices seem a bit on the higher side but reasonable. We definitely got our money's worth. Will return there in the future.

5 stars are not enough for my experience here. Food was amazing (shrimp toast was delicious), staff were lovely and the restaurant is stunning. My spouse booked our reservation for our 6 year anniversary, they went above and beyond with a complimentary drink and even gave me a rose after our dinner. Unbeknownst to the staff he proposed that night on the waterfront and having the service and experience we did that night made everything more magical. Definitely a go for date night 🤍

First visit here (from Ontario)… our experience this evening was amazing! Our server Andrea was outstanding (and she’s actually the Head Bartender subbing for someone who is off sick). All staff were friendly and accommodating! Crab cakes were great & oysters Rockefeller were incredible. Sirloin perfect and lobster dinner superb. Great first night Halifax, glad we decided on this place. The atmosphere was excellent, and just the right noise level for us. They were booked up and we didn’t have reservations so we sat at the bar. The staff at the bar were excellent, very friendly and knew when to chat and when to be scarce get seats if you have the chance. We had the 5 Fish Experience and it was great, everything cooked perfectly, though I will admit the portion was a tad small for my expectation.

Famous landmark restaurant in Halifax with a haunting story to boot. Lovely ambience, attentive waitstaff. We ordered the Five Fishermen Experience. Everything was fresh and spot on other than the lobster tail which was overcooked and we weren't able to get it out of the shell. The mushroom risotto was earthy and delicious.

Great atmosphere, it’s a very nice and big restaurant. The food was not bad, but also not beyond my expectation as I heard really good things about it. Ordered fish fish experience, but they forgot to put lobster tail on it. Good thing we noticed it and the server got it for us. Lobster tail was good though. Salmon in it was super thin, couldn’t really tell it’s salmon. However my favourite was mushroom risotto. Service was good, food not bad, atmosphere is good too. Just not a five star for my experience there.

Phenomenal food, phenomenal service. We had the rack of lamb and the salmon, both were absolutely delicious. We were blown away. Seriously, the staff/servers go above and beyond. They’re so charming I’m wondering if they get some kind of special training. We had a great night and we look forward to coming again!

Thank for the Feb dine around event, 5 fisherman has a $50 for 3course menu. It is good to have friends to come with you as the choices are not much (recommend the even number). We also order extra 3 more appetisers, and i wanna to say all of them are good, especially the soup!!! The main course under the the dine around menu is not bad. However the seafood dish is pretty small for us. Lastly the dessert are great! But personlly i think they are too sweet while my gf thinks they are prefect! 😉 PS: Their cocktails are good as well! Try the one “why so serious” 😈

We have been here twice during our journey in Halifax, and this has been so far the best food we have had in Nova Scotia. Service and management are extremely knowledgeable and polite. Their menu and wine selection are respectively strong and concise, which is very hard to find in the restaurant industry nowadays. I, we, highly recommend this restaurant to those who still enjoy life.

What a great place/ 100% oriented on service. Laura was the best 👌 I usually don't like eating alone but this actually felt like I wasn't alone. Food is excellent, definitely will go back for those scallops often!

Had to visit this restaurant as they had Oysters Rockefeller on the menu - and it did not disappoint. The scallops were delicious as well, but the beef cheeks were nothing to write home about. The service was fantastic and the candles on the dessert for a birthday were a nice gesture. It was an aesthetically pleasing interior and the atmosphere was great.

Thank you to The Five Fishermen for their part in giving my partner an unforgettable birthday. We visited in September 2023, from Toronto & made reservations about a month in advance. I appreciated how our server noted it was a special celebration -- the complimentary drinks & dessert were a wonderful surprise. In addition, our server also gave us both a beer on the house to apologize for the slow service on what was a busy night, but to be honest, we didn't even realize there was a delay. Also appreciate our server humouring our questions re: the history of the restaurant. She was great and I regret not posting this review earlier so I could've remembered her name. Foodwise, would recommend the crab cakes & Five Fish Experience. After touring the Cabot Trail, we had the pleasure of eating many crab cakes, but these were 100% the best. Separate vegetarian menu for those who are so inclined.

atmosphere was lively. However, there were a couple of drawbacks that kept me from giving it a perfect rating. 5 fish expérience plate wasn't fresh I couldn't finish it. lobester tale was overcooked. Unfortunately, this took away from the natural sweetness of the lobster meat I'm not sure for how long was it frozen before cooking. I'd give it 2/5 The burger on my wife's plate was a bit bland. It could have benefited from a more flavorful patty or bolder condiments. 1/5 I don't think I would go there again.

Wow, we’re sleeping on this place! Saturday night, the place was like 1/4 full. It’s been a around for a long time and was known to be fancy back when I was in high school, but over the years with all the new restaurants this place has kind of been forgotten. The scallops, short ribs, octopus and cocktails were fantastic! The ceviche (was told it was new on the menu) needed more lime and salt but the fish was very fresh, after adjusting it it was great as well. The parsnip dessert was cute but just tasted like a spice cake, maybe go for the chocolate dessert next time…There will definitely be a next time! The Asian bartender/server also made dinner very enjoyable. Go with his recommendations! Gosh those scallops…with a sweet creamy savoury sauce and perfectly cooked scallops… I’ll be dreaming of you 😂

Wife and I ate dinner here last night and it was the best meal of our lives We started with oysters, mixed green salad with nuts and goat cheese and a beet medley. My main was the Cornish hen - it Was cooked a perfection with a sticky coding making the outer skin delicious sauce over top to dip was incredible. She had the strip loin with barley. The steak was charred to perfection cut in the centre and serve so you can see your choice of crookedness. It was accompanied with a short rib, croquette, and the barley was also delicious. Even the coffee was picture worthy this place is top shelf atmosphere was great. Service was great. Five star for sure.

Great starters of calamari and spanish potato bombas. Disappointing spanish prawns as they were much too salty for my taste; not a fan of the sauce. Could not finish my plate. Good attentive service.

Upscale dining place in the Prince George Hotel. I'm usually not that impressed by hotel restaurants, but Gio is an exception. We stopped by for dinner and got: - Luke's Sourdough Bread: Not sure who Luke is, but his bread is pretty good. Firm on the crust, chewy in the middle. - Foie Gras Two Ways: I love how this had so many sweet elements on it (pressed apples, hazelnut crumbs, rosemary jam) that balanced out the fatty oiliness of the foie gras. - Squash: My favourite dish of the night. The orange vinaigrette complemented the sweetness of the squash really well. The pecorino cheese cut through the veggie taste, and the dash of honey took it over the top. - Arctic Char: Great char on the fish, though a bit too salty for me. Make sure to use the side lemon to dilute the saltiness. - Smoked Scallop: Whoa, this was almost a truly mindblowing dish. The smoke was perfect, but the scallop was just a bit on the rubbery side. The garlic cream sauce it was bathed in was chef's-kiss tasty. - Oh My That's Delicious: A dessert that lived up to its name. Delicate, not overly sweet chocolate mousse elements. But the undisputed star was the homemade blueberry icecream. From the good food, the great service (thanks Rachael for being so efficient, attentive and having a great disposition!), and the cool vibe, Gio is definitely a great place to wine and dine the night away.

Delicious and inventive food expertly presented in a comfortable upmarket setting. The staff were friendly and there was a decent selection of affordable wines. We loved the bone marrow and snow crab as a starter, our mains were delicious and highly recommend the deserts. Would definitely come back again!

My partner recently took me to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and let me just say.. they DID NOT disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff and our waiter, Oscar. Oscar was friendly and very professional. He did a phenomenal job explaining each item on the menu and making suggestions. It was clear that Oscar is a foodie and passionate about food and the pairings. He made it his mission to ensure we had an amazing dinner. He was meticulous in pairing our meals with the perfect wine and even took the time to explain why he recommended each dish or wine pairing. He asked the right questions to make the perfect recommendations and he was warm and welcoming the entire night. We were even wowed to find out that not only was he our waiter, but he also doubled as the bartender making the most amazing, delicious and refreshing cocktails. If I had a business of my own, Gios would be in a tough spot because I would hired Oscar in the spot lol. The food was amazing. Literally everything we had was 10/10. The appetizers were delicious.. to the point that some dishes like the snapper left us eager for more! We ordered almost a little of everything but my favorites were the parpadelle pasta, the wild boar and red fish. I absolutely loved the flavors in the pasta and the pesto was amazing. The boar was perfectly cooked and the portion was perfect and quite filling. The fish was well seasoned and absolutely delicious. I will absolutely be back to Gio because I have that burger on my mind and I’m yearning for more. Thank you for an amazing dinner & special thanks to Oscar for being the most amazing waiter I have ever experienced. It’s clear you are passionate, love food and take the time to learn and understand the menu in depth. The restaurant is absolutely lucky to have you on their team!!!

Amazing food, drinks & service! We started our night here with a couple of bottles of wine, then apps then main course. Was delicious and fairly priced.

Wonderful calamari appetizer which we shared. One had arctic char and the other duck breast. Delicious dinner. We really love dining here.

Gio is considered a 4 diamond restaurant, and I can absolutely see why. Right from the moment we set foot into the restaurant, the welcome and attentiveness was impeccable. The menu is seasonal, so what you may see online in terms of menu may not match what's currently being offered. This means that the ingredients used are fresh and local, hence why the change in menu depending on availability. All that to say that they chana masala (included in picture) I ordered was absolutely divine. The basmati rice was cooked to perfection, and the chickpeas were beautifully flavourful. But the stand out here was the homemade mango chutney - it was quite possibly the best chutney I've ever had. Our server, Oscar, was a pleasure to deal with from the very first moment. Being also the main bartender, he was able to recommend some fantastic cocktails for us to try depending on what we were in the mood for. And the cocktails: on my! They're inventive, modern, and a pleasure for the sense! I'd highly recommend trying one! All in all, an excellent place to dine with what I consider absolutely 'bargain' prices for a 4 diamond restaurant! Highly recommended!

Party of 6 and tried a whole lot of the different dishes. cocktails, eh so so. Appetizer Ceviche, Short Rib, Bone marrow we very good, the Ceviche was excellent. Mains included, Boar, Fish and Chips, Octopus. Octopus was good, Fish and Chips very good, Boar very good but none of the mains were excellent. Desert Chocolate Banana excellent, and a cheesecake variation which also was excellent. So overall, food was ranging from good to excellent, the majority was very good ehe 4 stars. would we go back? not so sure, maybe.

As there is Feb Dine around festival menu, i went with my gf. We ordered one set and order the rest menu + daily special - Tbone. Honestly, it is worth to order Feb dine arond menu because it is worth to order 3 course and just for $50. However, the one i order T- bone does not worth that price and slightly overcooked ( i order medium well) Fore gias is still good and worth that value (thats why i always come for it) The cocktail is ok but nothing special however the red wine by glass i would not recommend. I guess it was opened for a bit long already anf when i check with waitress. She gave her own opinion without fouble check with the bar. (That upset me alot) Lastly total bill before tax is about $250 for 2 people. (I can say the experience for Gio is my worse cause i come quit often) PS: i am glad GIO still give all customers a welcome snack and a chocolate as a Valentine gift for lady

My friend and I went to Gio tonight before seeing a show at Neptune. I had the bone marrow and snow crab, and the Spanish mackerel. My friend had the smoked scallops, and wild boar. While the food was absolutely incredible, the star of the night was our server, Terri. We were both having trouble deciding between a couple of things and she made excellent suggestions. Terri also made an excellent recommendation for a wine. She was extremely attentive to us. Both of us dine out regularly and we have never had better service.

We saw the menu online and it looked good so we decided to make a reservation. We did not realize this restaurant was in a hotel and did not expect the food to be as good as it was. It was an unexpected great meal. We had the carrots to start and I hade the shrimp and scallops. I loved every bite. The cocktails were good too. Were able to handle a peanut allergy.

A great place for a special treat. Superlative service, deliciously different food, excellent wines and cocktails. We shared the bone marrow & snow crab starter (a weird & wonderful combination!) Mains were foie gras burger and halibut & chips. Our only gripe was that the fancy chips/fries did not work: bland, almost tasteless and awkward.

Gio's was our family choice for Thanksgiving dinner. The Cornush Hen was a brilliant stand-in for turkey. All accompaniments were delicious, as was salad and desert. Other dishes ordered were scallops - perfection and wild boar - amazingly tender and delicious. Our server, Alan, was top-notch. He even switched floral arrangments, as we wanted a booth, but loved the yellow flowers on a center table. Highly recommended.

Wonderful dining experience in Halifax. A group of 4 went for dinner to Edna. The restaurant is cute, a bit loud and hot inside but still great. Cocktails excellent, appetizers were fantastic, the Burrata, the Oysters, the salad all flavourful and delicious. Mains scallops, fish and steak equally delicious. And the deserts, lovely. Great service, friendly staff, great price for the food quality so overall excellent experience. Highly recommended.

Incredible experience! We had expected a lot from Edna as several of our friends had mentioned it for our trip to Halifax. Without a doubt, this place delivered. We were seated along the windows at the front of the restaurant, allowing us to watch the foot traffic on the lively street. The restaurant is long and has a wonderful wood and brass arch anchoring the room and housing the seated bar. We started with tuna poke and fried oysters. Both were fantastic. We shared the scallops and striped bass for mains. Both completely amazing dishes. The scallops had squash of all kinds, prepared in a several different ways. Bringing some savoury to the dish was cubed, fried ham bits. The bass was the special and came together nicely with bok choy, creamed kale, and baby red potatoes. It was mouth-watering. Just incredible. The portion size was sensible and we had little room for dessert. We managed to wrap our lips around a sticky toffee cake served with black sesame ice cream. Unreal. Our server was extremely mindful and friendly. With great suggestions from the menu (and things to do around town), our experience was made complete by the outstanding service. You must eat here if you are in Halifax.

Amazing experience. Food is absolutely a must try ( we had the half charcuterie board, the trout, the gnocchi and the sticky toffee cake). The cocktails are amazing and so unique, I would really recommend for any kind of occasions !

Phenomenal experience, the food was really amazing and great portion sizes. We had the rib eye and the special which was swordfish. Everything was cooked perfectly, flavours were great, cocktails were creative and delicious, server was attentive but not over bearing. Atmosphere got pretty loud in there with a full house, but that's the only complaint!

We had an absolutely phenomenal dining experience at Edna. The service, atmosphere and food were all incredible! The seared scallops are an absolute must. We also had the squid ‘noodles’ in a red curry sauce with spicy peanuts and Thai basil as well as the ricotta & arugula gnudi. Finished off with pistachio cake and panna cotta for dessert! Some of the best food I’ve had in years. Thank you Edna for giving us the best meal of our trip out east!

Very good restaurant, the best food I tried in Halifax so far. Bering from Toronto, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. The place is very busy though, make sure to make a reservation and don't expect a quiet evening. The dishes are quite elaborate and well decorated, the bar has a good selection of spirits.

This was honestly, the best dining experience I’ve had in years. We came in for lunch and the food was incredible all around. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating to my friend’s gluten intolerance. Not to mention this restaurant is GORGEOUS! Beautiful atmosphere. We were there during the day but I bet it’s really romantic at night. Can’t wait to come back!

We had the pleasure of having Cora as our server. She was awesome and adorable. The food and atmosphere was warm and lively. A bit on the loud and festive side but very lively in the best ways.

Wow - such a great restaurant! The vibe and ambience was amazing. Our servers were so good at their job, creating conversations with us and giving great recommendations. We had the baked oysters (so good and creamy!), the crispy beef (mixture of tender and crispy), Brussels sprouts (their special - great peanut butter sauce), rainbow trout (so much flavour and the crispiness was great!) and lastly the sticky toffee pudding with the black sesame ice cream. Would love to come back again to try their brunch.

Very nice super, and top service. Only 4 stars as fries were a bit too salty and the duck spring rolls a bit dry.

Great server. Great cocktails. Pricey but you get what you pay for and sometimes you deserve the finer things in life. Menu is always evolving so i look forward to trying some fall dishes next time im in the city.

Had a fantastic dinner here. Excellent flavours all around. Started with the Beef Tataki and Brussels sprouts with peanut sauce as standout starters. Both had creative takes vs standard sauces. Very impressed by the balance of savoury sweet and tangy. The burrata toast though ok lost some of the wow of burrata with the pieces being a bit small and over powering the mild cheese. For mains had the Ribeye, Lamb Gnocchi, Scallops, and Halibut Cheek. All were excellent and great flavours. Cocktails were also stellar having tried the mezcal and tequila based ones. This place is definitely a bit of a hidden gem. Surprised that we were able to get last minute resos. Highly recommend.

Edna is hands down the best restaurant I have been to and I have been to many restaurants. If you are a foodie, this place needs to be on your to do list. The dishes are exquisite. So much effort was put into the composition of these dishes and the flavours in each dish is top notch. We ordered the beef tartare, rainbow trout and squid and they were to die for. I also had the pork pasta, not as good as the other menu items but still better than the pasta dishes served in other restaurants around Halifax. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, perfect for date night.

We didn’t make reservations, but luckily walked in at 6pm on a Sunday evening and offered a table. We ordered marinated NS pea salad, seared scallops and rainbow trout. All of the dishes had amazing combinations of flavours and textures with decent portion sizes. They have daily specials as well.

Edna must be on your list if you want to enjoy the best food in Halifax (or even Nova Scotia). Their menu changes seasonally to provide the best ingredients on your plate. I've been twice in the past 2 years and I'm always pleased with their service: very casual and friendly. The small restaurant prices are really good for the quality you get. Everything on the menu is tasty but do not miss the seared scallops, it's divine!

This is the best restaurant I have eaten at in Halifax. We had the tuna, baked oysters, grilled squid, and scallops — all delicious. Service and ambiance were excellent, can’t wait to come back!

Good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere! Coworkers and I stopped in for lunch. We are from out of town and chose this place because they had vegan options. I had the vegan hash with tofu and it was quite good! Coworkers had the fish tacos and smash burger and they really enjoyed their food! (I had to dock one star because the hash could have been crispy but I am nitpicking.) Our server was very friendly and the atmosphere had a relaxed vibe. I will add this place to my lift of vegan-friendly spots to eat in Halifax, as I return for work a few times a year.

This place had great food! Some of the best beer fries I've ever had! Would totally come back. The atmosphere was very much pub fare with 2 outdoor patios. However the beer list was as small as this restaurant.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing .. I love that you can see the old front of store wall in the windowed in area we were in. Food was really good and our server was absolutely fantastic. The menu was a little on the pricey side.

Top-notch food. Some of the best I've eaten in Halifax. I had a potato leek soup, which was very good, although I could have done without the pickled mustard seeds. One of my baguette slices was toasted beyond edibility but that was quickly corrected. My entree was a short rib, which was very, very rich. It was served with hasselback potatoes covered in a delicious sauce, and a broccoli cooked with olive oil, lemon, and salt. They were the best-tasting broccoli I've ever had, and one of the highlights of the meal. My wife had halibut with "French gnocchi" which she loved, too. I had a few bites of the gnocchi and it was creamy and delicious.

Great service and good food with local beer on tap. Highly recommend the smorgasbord.

I would like to say that I have tried the menu but I get the same delicious burger every time I go. Fries are a knockout. The donuts are cooked fresh, served warm with Dulce de Leche. They are Incredible. I always find room after a delicious meal for the donuts.

Brooklyn Warehouse is an awesome neighborhood spot, with a great atmosphere. The service was fantastic. I like the menu, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich today w the kale salad - it was very satisfying. Highly recommend this spot.

Absolutely stunning! Someone who makes important decisions at this restaurant has their priorities in order. The atmosphere isn't overly fussy or perfect. In fact before we ate I thought it seemed a little dark. But as soon as the food hits your tongue, it all makes sense. My god. Everything was on point, from seasonal selection to the most strangely perfect preparation of each ingredient. Even the Brussel sprouts tasted like a completely new experience to me. I'm afraid I am going to wake up and realize this place was just a wild dream that I had and that it doesn't really exist. Bravo.

Brittney, thank you for the best meal I've had in Halifax in the two weeks I've been here. Bar kismet and bicycle theif are good but perhaps over hyped. The steak tartar is the best I've had in ages - can't wait to make my way through more of the menu.

The atmosphere was delightful, and we loved how they've repurposed this building. The menu had loads of great choices for lunch. The food was very delicious, and really just the right amount for lunch. I gather suppers are a bit fancier. All the servers were lovely, it just took some time to get service (orders taken and meals)... Possibly they were busier than anticipated and so a bit understaffed.

Have to give it an amazing review. We were a larger group of 8. Our server was fun and attentive. New menu was out last night. Sirloin was cooked perfectly, I like rare. It was like candy. Risotto delish, Halibut cooked perfectly. We were able to bring our own bottle of wine. I'd make a reservation. Definitely eat here!

Delicious food. Relaxed atmosphere. My partner had the mussels and sirloin and I had the scallops and halibut. All were really enjoyable. Wil definitely be back for more.

The Brooklyn Warehouse is a West End staple and at the heart of the food scene in Halifax. The staff are always fantastic at recommending options and pairing, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is relaxed and cared for. If you are looking for a great spot to catch up with friends over a drink and appetizers or a fantastic date night, the Brooklyn Warehouse has to be on the top of your list!
