Woodland Valley Campground

Mentioned on
Campground
Nature & Parks
Woodland Valley Campground is a picturesque and serene location that offers an ideal getaway for families. While the majority of campsites are small and located near the road, there are secluded spots such as site #25 that provide easy access to amenities like restrooms, trash disposal, and drinking water. The tranquil sound of the nearby stream creates a soothing ambiance perfect for relaxation. In addition, hiking enthusiasts can take advantage of close proximity to scenic trails like Giant Ledge.
This is the perfect place for my family who are not too crazy but sometimes pursuit different experience like camping. The camping ground is a natural setting with gravel ground and cement-made fireplace equipped a huge metal grill. Wood burning is basically common that I've never seen anyone burns charcoal. Bunch of firewood has been selling $15 as a quite good amount for 2 nights by an outside vender at the site. About $8 for small pack of firewood is sold by the market in Phoenicia downtown. The crews are overly strict about closing time 9pm(cannot get in after sharp 9pm), the proof of levy vaccination for a dog, regulations for dog and garbage treatment. They have warm water indoor shower and dishwashing station. The water sound near the brook may give you relief or annoyance when you sleep.

Bathroom and shower areas were clean compared to the other campsites. Rule was strict enough to the campers, which I respect, and I think this was why the bathroom and other camping areas were maintained well and quite during the quiet time. "Bear warning!" Gotta be careful with leftover foods and coolers at night....!!! I would go to this camping site again.

Standard campsite. Definitely would go back. Our site was secluded from the others and next to the creek. Nature's white noise. Plus it was also close the drinking water, toilets/showers and refuse center but far enough not to be close to others. Also a short walk to giant ledge.

WATCH OUT. TONZ of ticks. Also, PLEASE DO NOT GO if you are Ukrainian or non American. Yes the rules are confusing, but the skinny middle-aged lady with baseball cap kept looking opertunities to cause problems. Driving through camp sites yelling at renters... Threatening. No compassion, NOT professional. Sad I love all humans, but bigotry and racism should have no place in New York, especially STATE RUN camp grounds. Sad Ukrainian Refugees come out of a war and get treated with such disgust. It's even more sad I live in America my whole life, and people are still bigots.

This campground is in a beautiful location! The staff are very helpful and nice. I would love to give five stars, but unfortunately there was no access to clean water at the campsite so I took off one star. The bathrooms are clean and spacious! I didn’t get any pictures of our campsite but it had one picnic table, a fire pit, lots of space for a car and space for our big tent and small tent. The pictures I include in this review are of some views and places in the area around the campground, as well as a lovely deer who came very near to our site!

This is a very well maintained park, that being said if you’re looking for something with a bit more freedom this isn’t the place. If you don’t make it by 9pm to check it you will not be let into the campgrounds to set up, there’s a camp about 2 miles prior to arriving to woodland that’s very secluded. The people who run that are very nice. It’s a perfect place to overnight hike, especially for beginners. There’s multiple bathrooms but only one shower station as well.

one of the best camping trips i have ever experienced in my life. completely isolated, no wifi or cell service, pack in, pack out - beautiful stars and streams and nature - could not rank this place higher

I camped at this campground with my kids in 2009. It was such a nice campground with lots and trees which provided privacy between the campsites. There is access to hiking trails right from the campground, with a spectacular view at Giant's Ledge, which is not at the summit, but midway up the mountain. It is not a rigorous hike. Cannot recall the name of the mountain, but the park attendants provided a map. The park attendants and rangers were helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this campsite; it's one of the nicest I've seen in terms of privacy and location. Hope to go back there soon.🏞️🌌

Very nice Campgrounds. Had absolutely No phone service, including Wi-Fi. They do have a pay phone. (Bring change!) Great place to getaway from everything. Stress Free... People are friendly. Campsite and Bathrooms were clean. They had a hot shower trailer there. A Bear family was spotted on Campgrounds. So ALL food, coolers and your clothes you wore cooking must stay in truck/vehicles while sleeping or not on campsite. We did have to sign a waiver stating we knew about the Bears being there... To be expected. We did not see any Bears. But we did see some deer and wild turkeys walk thru campgrounds and cross the brook.

We really enjoyed our weekend trip to Woodland Valley Campground. Although most of sites are small and close to road our stay on site #25 was great! Right next to the stream running through campground, close to bathrooms and garbage disposal. Secluded from rest of sites. Close to great hiking!

Its a good place to start your hike. There is no internet or other network coverage around 40 mile radius. They have only one pay phone so make sure you got some change before think about to call somebody. Unpopularity I did have any change! I was lucky that park ranger helped to make a call with using her phone. And most importantly park ranger told me there is a single family bear around the campground so careful about bear follow all the precautions.

Kids had fun camping at this location. They specifically loved the fire pit! The campsite staff were extremely friendly and helpful about exploring the area. The distance to the next campsite was fair, so we had our privacy while we felt someone was around in case we needed help. The bathrooms were clean, but only one sink with cold water only was in the bathroom. Limited number of comfort stations onsite. Lots of shades on all the campsites.
Christy Chen — Google review
Awesome campground! Great spots, beautiful scenery, peaceful. Hiking trails were nearby. Bathrooms and shower area were clean and water was warm. Looking forward to my next trip back.

Favorite campsite on our vacation. This is site #16, semi-private, shade and right next to the creek. It was in the 60-70's and misting, not sure how the creek works when it's 90+ and trying to cool off or find a swimming hole. The sites were flat and well laid out. Love the fireplace style fire pit, someone went to great lengths to make those. Along with the new, very large picnic tables. Check-in process was smooth, we stayed during the week and friday night it started to fill in. We did receive the bear talk and making sure that we kept our food in the car. As seasoned campers we are aware of this and didn't bother us. This site and a few others along the creek are perfect to hear the sound of the water as you sleep. Downside the sink in the women's bathroom was broken. They don't sell ice there either, but it's a quick ride into town. The shower was comfortable, not cold and not too hot with a good mist/stream. The staff made a great suggestion and gave us a map for a shorter 2 mile hike in the town of Phonecia since we didn't have much time to hike.

Italian restaurant
Christina's Restaurant is a cozy Italian eatery in Kingston, NY that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for families and friends to enjoy a meal together. The restaurant features a fantastic patio where patrons can savor delicious food and drinks for lunch or dinner. Known for its amazing Chicken Franchise, this establishment is popular among both locals and tourists. Visitors rave about the delectable steak on the menu as well.
We took a weekend trip to Kingston, NY. Arriving latish for dinner, but still hungry Friday night. We planned on dining at Lolas but they were closed for a private event. Still hungry, my husband suggested we stop at a restaurant we passed on the way to Lolas. I quickly Googled their reviews, decent reviews but Google reported them as being closed, the parking lot seemed to contradict that so we went in to give it a try. There were patrons dining and we were promptly seated. Our server quickly took our drink orders and explained the kitchen closes at 8pm ( the time we arrived ) but she told us if we ordered quickly she would get us dinner. I order a cup of chicken and rice soup, delicious and clearly prepared from scratch, not canned and the salad special. My husband ordered the lasagna, the portion was larger than any lasagna order I have seen, the sauce had a fresh tomato taste, light with chunks of tomato and seasoned to bring out the tomato taste not overpower it! And of course, lots of gooey cheese beautifully crusted on top! Even more impressive than the food, and drinks was the gracious service extended to two hungry travelers late on Friday night! If you’re ever in Kingston, Christina's Restaurant is definitely worth the stop! We will return!

After a 20 minute wait... $30 WHERE?? Where's the onion's?? Where's the chickpeas?? Where's all the ingredients in a Christina's House Salad?? Those two strips and pieces of dry chicken! Then, to have the person who took the order behave very unprofessional by teasing me with the order receipt smh. This is the second to-go order that's been messed up. We used to love coming here. What a waste!

The food was very good. Huge portions. The servers were stretched thin, but we expected that due to Covid. We sat on the patio in the back which is in the center of a parking lot so the ambience was not great. I will choose inside seating next time.

We went on a non busy night and they sat us in our own little section on some surprisingly comfy seats. The waitress was attentive and kind and the food was delicious! I had the Chicken Franchise and they made it perfect. They do something special with the bread baskets - check em out 👌

Met a friend here for dinner on Friday night. Our waitress was slightly helicopter-ish & we felt really rushed through our meal. Turns out the restaurant closes at 8p...on a Friday night. So showing up for dinner at 6:30 turned out to be too late.

We had a family Christmas gathering there and it was wonderful. The food was fantastic and our waitress Madison was terrific. The regular menu and the Specials were great. The only downside was it was a little too expensive but everything is these days. We love it there and will definitely be back !

Nicole was our server. She, as always was amazing. Personal service and just the right amount of passes from her to check on us. I was full at the end of the meal. Drinks were good. Food was full of flavor. Music was not too loud. Overall. Good spot to go and not wait 2 hours for a table like the chain restaurants.

American restaurant
Peekamoose Restaurant offers upscale American cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients, served in a beautifully restored farmhouse. The restaurant is known for its accommodating staff and clean facilities, making it an ideal choice for large parties. It's a popular spot in the Catskills area, especially for visitors to Belleayre, Hunter Mountain, Phoenicia, and Kingston. Reservations are highly recommended due to its popularity.
Came here with a party of 10 originally had a reservation for but had two tag along. They were quick to accommodate. The staff was super friendly and the bathroom was clean. I ordered a medium rare sirloin, it came out pretty great a bit burn on the corners but nothing to complain about. The risotto was pretty good and I really enjoyed the octopus app. The most amazing thing was the free bread and homemade butter. Was almost full from just eating that. This is a great to accompany large parties.

Every dish we chose was good, from Apps to Desserts. Vegetarian, Seared Tuna, Salads, Mixed cocktails were really tasty too. Service was great! Worth a visit. Thanks Peekamoose. We will be back💝

Went to this place for dinner and there was a long wait for about 45 mins. We were the last people they seated. The bread at their restaurant was absolutely delicious, we really enjoyed it. The ambiance is nice, they have a lot of animals in there.

The place is BEAUTIFUL! The ambiance in each area / room makes the experience unique each time. Food is great so are the drinks and of course the service. The location is also very clean (including the restrooms)
Karol Andino — Google review
Very good food and ambience. Even with nearly full tables in the restaurant, the service was fast and correctly fulfilled, as well as the noise level was low enough that we could carry on conversations within our group. Although the name is counter-intuitive, the "steamed parsnip cake" dessert is decadent and worth visiting just for that.
Adam Kutell — Google review
A stop at Peekamoose is always part of the itinerary whenever I make a trip to the Catskills. It's reputation stands for itself and never fails to disappoint. On this trip, my wife and I started with the beets and homemade gnudi. The gnudi was like a oversized gnocchi with a lightly crisped shell served over a great tomato sauce. The beets were some of the sweetest I've had (probably due to the honey based sauce that accompanied it). For the entrée, I had the roast duck and my wife has the filet mignon, both cooked perfectly to our desired doneness. To top it all off, we ended our meal with the pannacotta which was excellent. Aside from the food, the cocktails and wine selection are sure to please any discerning drinker. My stomach is growling as I write this and I'm already looking forward to my next trip.

Definitely popular and must visit in Catskills if you are around Belleayre, Hunter mountain, Phoenicia or even Kingston. *Reservation recommended!! We were so lucky to get the last slot during 5-7pm in 1hr. and these consider as their moderate busy night. They even have the lines during summer. We ordered couple items and they are all tasty, My favorite is pork belly meat ball. Their Slow braised beef short rib are so tender as the sever said they spend 3days cooking it.

Came here to have a birthday dinner. The ambience is really cool and cozy. I loved the decorations. Food was amazing from the beginning to the end. Best app for me - the grilled octopus. Best main- the pork. Best dessert - the pumpkin pie. Unfortunately I didn’t take pics of the food but I can tell was really good. The staff was super nice and kind. I’m definitely coming back

The appetizers were tasty and the drinks were amazing. Entrees were bland and overpriced. I had a zucchini entree and so did the table next to me. We both got the salt shaker because it was like eating plain noodles. Would definitely go for drinks and appetizers again but not for the entrees. We also got desert that was so skimpy on ice cream, you barely got to taste it. Cute atmosphere and a must for drinks but go somewhere else for your main course and desert.

Came here to celebrate my bday with my bf from our weekend escape from the city. This restaurant stood out to me because of the moose heads around the restaurant. It was interesting to see a real moose on the wall at their bar. The service was fantastic and our waiter was very polite and friendly. The atmosphere was very relaxing and more like a trendy edm lounge type vibe. They gave us bread to start off, which was warm and very good. Then, we ordered the grilled octopus appetizer to start, I thought that the octopus was good, but my bf said it was a bit salty. Then, as main, we got the burger and salmon. Highly recommend the burger that came with apple sauce that was good and salmon that came on a bed of lentils that was interesting. Then, at the end, we ordered the gelato, and they added the 1 bday baby candle! So I did add on my reservation that it was for my bday celebration, but they wanted us to order a dessert first to add the candle. That was a bit disappointing, lol. I thought they would provide a cake for bday reservations as other "high-end" restaurants in the city do for their customers. Nonetheless, I loved the new experience at peekamoose and would recommend coming here if you're a huge fan of hunting or like us curious urbanites. If not, it might be a bit scary seeing all the stuffed moose and deer heads around. Lol. The location was a bit out of the way for us. I would only stop by if you're in a neighborhood or live nearby. We reserved, but it looked like there were plenty of open tables around.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Peekamoose and I couldn't have asked for a more delightful experience. The standout feature of our evening was undoubtedly the impeccable service provided by our waiter. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. His suggestions were spot-on and enhanced our dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh my goodness, the food! Every dish that graced our table was a testament to the chef's expertise. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that danced on our taste buds. The attention to detail and the quality of ingredients were apparent in every dish. The generous portion sizes were a pleasant surprise!

Everyone here was so friendly and wonderful. And the food was delicious! I got a kale salad that I’m going to be thinking about for a long time, as well as a fantastic cheesecake for dessert. If I’m ever back in the area this will be top of my list for sure!

Our family had a SPECTACULAR dining experience at Peekamoose during Memorial Day Weekend. The service was among the best we've encountered. The food was EXCELLENT and prepared perfectly. We enjoyed the atmosphere in the dining room, while outside was the beautiful Catskill Mountains. This was by far our favorite dining experience visiting this area. Highly recommended.

My husband, and 2 kids sat in the dining room section of this restaurant. Amazing service, food came out quickly, and everything was so delicious! I loved how the kids menu actually had real healthy options for the little ones. And the zucchini fazzoletti vegan entree was insanely good!! Can’t wait to come back again when we are in the area!
Laura Truitt — Google review
Peekamoose is absolutely the best restaurant experience I have had every time. The food is absolutely amazing. But even more notably, the staff is so incredibly nice, and it just feels like a warm and wonderful experience. Once we came without a reservation, and they accommodated us within 15 min on a busy holiday weekend. Once a dish had a flavor I didn’t like, and without blinking they switched it out for something else and didn’t charge us for it. They have a kids playroom with a big shelf of books and they encourage every kid to take a book home. The owner even took my son into the kitchen to scoop his own ice cream. I can’t say enough good things. This place is phenomenal.

Brewery
Clemson Bros. Brewery in New Paltz is a riverside pub with a long history, dating back to the 19th century. The brewery offers a variety of house-brewed craft beers and American dishes. Visitors praise the friendly atmosphere and attentive service, as well as the scenic location by the bridge for sunset views.
I haven't been here in years, back when it was Guilded Otter and I ended many hikes here. Service was good and prompt and good came out pretty quickly. Ordered Ruben sandwich and very tasty, truffle fries were outstanding. Lots of seating inside and out, place gets very crowded and fun during the summer their brew selection is good and packaged goods to go!

4.29.22 After visiting Mohonk Mountain House we stopped here for a quick bite and brew and loved it! Service was quick, friendly, and the food came out hot. My IPA was perfect. I had the patty melt and my friend had the grilled cheese, soup, and cider. We ate every bite. Brewery had a good vibe, ample parking, all good.

I had a beer flight and it was absolutely delicious. The coconut cream ale, cherry wheat, blueberry beer, and peanut butter porter. And fried pirogies to complement the experience. Amazing.
Jana Salas — Google review
Pros: The menu is great, there were a lot of options I wanted to try. Love the beer and the food is great. Our waitress was very friendly. I appreciated how spaced out the tables were. The burger was delicious and the turkey sandwich was great. I’d get the turkey sandwich again. Cons: The burger, though great, was a mess and kind of hard to eat. Service was pretty slow. There was a huge group of kids upstairs and they were running all over the place right above our heads which was super loud. There was a waitress (not in our section) who kept coming to the bar near where we were sitting and loudly ranting about an issue with a manager. It happened on and off the entire time we were there and honestly created a slightly stressful experience. Update: our most visit after multiple visits- Super quiet Wednesday night. I asked for my burger to be medium well but I got this burnt to a crisp, crunchy campfire charcoal burger patty… I don’t think I’d ever come back here for food. Disappointing!

Would give them zero stars if it was an option. We ordered takeout and were given a pickup time. We arrived and they said their online ordering system was rarely used and we had to wait 30 more minutes for them to make our food. Wrong fries and the burger was nearly raw and inedible, after we chose the option "NO PINK." We paid extra for chicken on a salad which we didn't receive. We called them at least 10 times over the course of three weeks to get a promised refund which never came. We spoke to various staff and all gave us empty promises of "making it right." Each time we called we were told the manager would contact us, but he never did. He couldn't be bothered. They claimed we were refunded, but our bank cofirmed we were not. They couldn't produce proof that they gave us a refund. Poor management and no customer service. Waste of money. Will never order takeout or dine-in there again. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!

Billy, our waiter was kind and attentive. Said it was only his second day there, but gave us knowledgeable and great suggestions. Though we got there only a half hour before closing, "the kids" who greeted us were super sweet and were assuring patrons not to feel the need to rush. Nice experience overall, and ask for table closest to bridge side outside for best sunset view. Cheese curds (Billy's suggestion), Rachel (my wife's order) and "Old Guy" Burger (I'm the old guy) were great, and the fries were out of this world. I had the OG basic ones, and my wife the truffle fries. We loved both. We read some of the other reviews that weren't great, disagreed, and wanted to make sure people got to see this too. People should chill out a little about what standards they are holding a BrewPub to. Jerkies🙄😂😂✌️

Decent place with decent prices. Wait staff was very efficient but for two burgers it took nearly 2 hours and it wasn't that busy.however, knowing that everyone is understaffed Im sure this isn't the usual way things are run. The food was decent and the beers are great. Overall I would go back.

What a cool brewery right along the water. The place is large, open and industrial. Our waiter was super friendly and always came by to check on how we were doing. I had the Imperial Burger which was Bacon, goat cheese, arugula, pickled red onion & berry jam, served on a Brioche bun. Unfortunately, mine didn’t come with the berry jam but it was still good regardless. The fries were crispy and tasty.
TravelingGayPanda — Google review
Very disappointing. The mojito served to us was the worst ever (pic included). When I finally was able to get the servers' attention, I asked don't you normally have mint for the mojito. The servers response was "oh yeah we are all out of mint." I have never been served a mojito without mint... typically I would be told they don't have it. The Pretzels were delicious... server did a drive by and dropped them off at the opposite end of the table. No plates or silverware given. We were already here for 35 minutes at this point. Finally, our salads arrived after 50 minutes, and the server said I'll get forks. She delivered food to another table, and when the other server noticed, she dropped off silverware to us. I was hoping for a better experience since they have been around for a while since my last many years ago at the Middletown location. There were many other disappointing moments during our visit, but I don't care to waste anymore time here.
Erica * — Google review
I've been to the middletown location a couple of times and most recently, to this New Paltz location twice in the past month. Both experiences were very good. The first time was with a large group of friends and most recently with just two other people. Our servers both times were very friendly and efficient and knew the menu well. They made suggestions when asked and were easily able to answer any questions that we had about the beer or food items. The beer is actually very good. I remember when the Gilded Otter was here - one of the first "craft" breweries in the area. GO was not all that great with their beer offerings and quality, but Clemson Bros. knows what they're doing when it comes to quality, taste and selection. The food was very good, also.
Rhonda Dohmann — Google review
Why did I take a picture of an empty plate? Because the food was that good. If you are looking for a good meal and some drinks after a day of hiking, look no further than the Gilded Otter. A good selection of burgers and beers. The cheese fries were excellent. The staff was really friendly, too.

We’re so glad we stopped by for lunch this afternoon. Hostesses were very friendly and Anthony our server was great. We had the truffle fries, chicken Waldorf salad and the French onion grilled cheese with jalepeno coleslaw on the side. Everything was delicious and the coffee was great as well. Highly recommended, we will be back.

First time here -I know the other location in Middletown. The building has a great location and is used to accommodate the bar and brewing facilities. The Scottish Ale is wonderful. The food was great we throughly enjoyed our lunch, the atmosphere is friendly and warm. The cocktails were well made and you could taste the bourbon. Awesome selection of beers, nice menu with unique options. Food was better than average, service was outstanding- especially the gentleman I assume was the manager that come around towards the end. Hooked us up with some to-go beers and chocolates. Gets busy on The Weekends, they do well at keeping up and staying attentive. We had one of the cheese plates and a portobello mushroom and goat cheese wrap. Live music some Saturday’s! No tap beer, but the selection of cans and bottles make up for it

Great and fast service. Had the peach margarita and the portobello & garlic goat cheese on pita bread. The sandwich was delicious and flavorful, also recommend getting the spicy chipotle mayo as a side. Great prices as well, came out to around 20 per person for food and a drink
Sandra M — Google review
Great experience! It was a little pricey, but the food was worth it. Service can take a little bit, but that's fair, especially when they're busy. The fondue was legit and to die for, though it wasn't really worth adding the charcuterie. The French onion and chili were awesome, though the chili had large chunks of jalapeños that I wasn't a fan of. The french onion needed a tad bit more salt but it tasted great. The burgers were also delicious. The fries were flavorful and crispy. Definitely recommend especially after a long day of winter activities.
TheRussianGamer — Google review
First, the positives - the staff was extremely warm, the music was great, the vibes of the place were excellent, and it has a cute shop where you can buy excellent goodies like tea and chocolates. However, the food left a lot to be desired. As much as we hope the cheeses would delight us, we didn't quite enjoy them. The nachos were average (although the jalapenos were super fresh), the cheese fondue was ok, the buffalo wings were extremely hard and chewy, the buffalo chicken wrap was also chewy, the cheesy fries were a disappointment, the split pea soup was decent, and the Fettuccine Alfredo was good. I'd really like to come back here, but I hope the food wows us the next time.

Really cute atmosphere and decor. Came here for lunch. You can order at the counter, pay and tip, then find a table to sit at. This is a nice accommodation for a large party to be able to pay separate. I ordered the Portabella Mushroom & Garlic Goat Cheese sandwich. It was delicious but there was way too much cheese on top - I had to scrape some off! The marinated mushroom had a good flavor. My boyfriend ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and said it was good as well. Being a group of 10, on the house, we were brought out some chocolates which was a nice touch. We visited the area on a weekend trip before heading home and it hit the spot.

Nice place. Was glad they were now open on Tuesdays. Def a cool place to grab a drink and some candy. Also had the cheese platter.

I'm all about supporting the local business and this one is special as all the products they use and to sell are off the local business community. This is a special quality that's hard to see these days. Let's get to the point - FOOD 1. They claim the cheese fondue 🫕 is there most selling item especially during the winter season and I agree with them, however I believe the cheese is ought to be a little more seasoned prior to bringing it up on the mini stove to the customer's table and the bread needs to be a tad bit tougher. ★★★★ 2. The buffalo wings are fresh as a spring breeze on a good day! I really recommend this item. ★★★★★ 3. The steak isn't the greatest as it felt to be frozen and the temperature wasn't right. I like it Medium however it was almost well done.★★ The gift store/antiques: It has a good vintage countryside collection and a southern vibe to it. The place isn't crowded and is pleasant. You will see a lot of products that are made by local businesses like pure raw honey, maple syrup, bread, gift baskets, coffee, and more. Location: This place is privy to a lot of hikes especially Kaaterskill falls and is pretty close to the gateway cabins. A lot of skiing spots around the area.

A friend from the area took us to Last Chance for lunch specifically to try their French onion soup. We were NOT disappointed! Plenty of gooey cheese to go with a well-seasoned soup. For our main, we all opted for the knish-wich (because who doesn't love a random knish every now and then?!). Pastrami and melted cheese on a toasty knish was tasty! Nice selection of local and regional beers to boot. I'd definitely go back.

The best restaurant in Tannersville! I love this place! The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and the place is very exotic. Lots of antiques on the wall. They have a long list of beers. I do recommend the Pulled Pork Nachos, Cheese Fondue and the Black Angus Ribeye Steak.

I had read all of the reviews and couldn’t wait to try this soup. Beautiful presentation. Lots and lots and lots of cheese atop beef broth. I agree with some of the reviews that it doesn’t taste like traditional French soup, but it wasn’t bad. You literally could have cut the cheese with a knife it was so thick. Lots of onions. The presentation was the best part, but the soup was pretty decent. Also had the pastrami on rye bread. It was just average. Probably wouldn’t go back for either, but it was an experience I wanted to try. The service was good and you can shop around for candy and other treats while you’re waiting on your table or just after your meal. I understand they have live music on the weekends, but unfortunately we were there during the week. Nice little spot to stop in while you’re out in the Catskills.

Got the goat burger and the knish-which - AMAZING!!! Great flavorful food, def going back. Was super speedy with the order - we had take out. Also great selection of beer, especially local beer - they even have a special made IPA that is specific and exclusive to this store!

The chicken pot pie is so unique, light, flaky and absolutely delicious. I generally don't even like pot pie. But this was a flaky crust that was stuffed with chicken pot pie like stew into it. The store is super cute, great food and cheese!

If I could give this place a 10/5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. The atmosphere is incredible with the antiques strewn across the restaurant giving it a homey feeling that reflects the small town it resides in. The candy shop adds a general store vibe that enhances the homey feeling and there's plenty to choose from to take home with you. The food is incredible, to say the least. My husband and I tried new things the whole trip while visiting the Catskills, but Last Chance Cheese was so good that we had to come back a second time before going home. As someone from the south, I hold high regard to all things BBQ, but I'm surprised (and quite frankly, upset) to say that the pulled pork sandwich rivals all of the pulled pork I've had growing up in NC. Highly recommend this place, and you will be well taken care of by the friendly staff of this establishment. Will 100% be coming back here the First Chance we get.

The macaroni and cheese was as pure as it comes, truly homemade taste and authenticity. The cheese platter was top notch as well as was the service. Very kind and shows that small towns remain. The atmosphere and variety of the menu could also not have been better. The only comment I have is the price, but yet again, a touristy area, so it comes with the territory

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Mountain Brauhaus is an authentic German restaurant that offers classic dishes such as schnitzel and spaetzle, accompanied by a diverse selection of beers. The cozy establishment is often bustling, so making reservations in advance is highly recommended. Guests rave about the pork schnitzel, which is expertly prepared and served with optional Jaeger sauce.
German style restaurant with full bar, large indoor dining area and outside seating. Very nice decor inside including staff dressed with a German theme. Menu includes items like bratwurst and burgers. Full bar and local craft beer. Place was quite busy when we arrived and luckily got some seats at the bar. No wifi at all but after chatting with one of the owners he said he likes it like that. Food and service was great.

They open 12pm: We got there too early and we waited since the reviews were really really good. Well, we were lucky and we got a table right away. such a nice place: it smells like home, food we had is genuinely tasty, they stick to tradition (as far as I can tell based on my trips to germany when I was younger) and the staff is very friendly. I had the beef stew which was tender and juicy. Like the ambiance very much: clean, warm, well organized. No wonder they are super busy. Really like The bar at the entrance: it adds character.

A cute German restaurant, conveniently located at the intersection leading to many of the hiking trails. It’s perfect for refueling after trudging through the many grueling hikes in the area. Reservations are highly recommended especially during peak season. I was actually surprised we got a table since we only made a reservation the day before. We got the pretzel to start. I’m not a fan of the licorice taste of caraway seeds which was embedded in the pretzel so it wasn’t my favorite, but I loved the mustard sauces it came with. I had their burger special which had huge cuts of sauteed mushrooms which were delicious. The place is clean and decorated like a traditional German pub. The staff are dressed in German garb also which made it fun.

A wonderful gem that my friends and I happened upon after a long hike! I grew up with Austrian food and was delighted to find Spaetzle, Goulash, Schnitzel, and Almdudler. The staff is really friendly and the food tastes amazing!!!! If you’re undecided for desserts, try the honey cake. We liked it so much that we came two days in a row (which we never do).

Lots to say so I’ll start with the most important part- the food is good, people are friendly, it’s in a beautiful location and, considering how popular this restaurant is, prices are surprisingly inexpensive considering what other restaurants are charging. Do not, however, come here if you are in any sort of a hurry. We have tried to come here multiple times but haven’t been able to get in. They’re very popular! We made a reservation several days out, showed up at our scheduled time and were told they were running behind. We waited probably 20 minutes before being seated and another 15 before our server came to take our order. We ordered the pretzel, jager pork schnitzel, and a shrimp roast special. We said it would be fine if everything came at the same time and the server said she’d recommend getting the pretzel first as the kitchen was “running a bit behind”. They brought the pretzel out super quickly and it was really good! We then waited a full hour for our entrees. The shrimp roast with local veggies was truly incredible. The schnitzel was good, though the entire plate was cold as if it had been fried and then sat out for a bit. The mushroom sauce was luke warm and kind of congealed. The server was nowhere to be seen for long periods of time. When we finished our meals we sat at the table with empty plates and empty glasses for nearly a half hour before finally catching her eye and signaling that we were ready for the bill. All in all, this is a good restaurant. It does take a really long time and there is a kind of frantic energy that makes it not a super relaxing fun place to hang out.

We were looking for a place to eat after our strenuous hike through High Peter's Kills Trail and we found this place on Yelp. Very close to Minnewaska State Park Preserve, and we had never tried German food, so we were interested and had no expectations. We walked in and we're greeted by all the workers in our vicinity. The place was very clean and inviting. It felt as if you were going into a family member's home. The interior decor was beautiful and they even have a fully functioning payphone that they still use to this day. We were seated quickly and given our menus by our server Danielle (who was a phenomenal waitress by the way), which said menus are clear and easy to follow (remember, we never had German food and we had no idea what most of the names of the dishes really meant). We started by sharing the Goulash Soup and Pretzel with the Smoked Gouda, and got the Satin Solitude Stout and the Braggot cocktail. Everything was bursting with so much flavor and cooked perfectly. The pretzel was literally the best pretzel we ever had, and the smoked Gouda was the perfect pairing. Even their mustard and horseradish that came with the pretzel was phenomenal. The goulash was very tender and just delicious. The portions were perfect for appetizers. Our drinks were absolutely delicious. I especially loved my Braggot cocktail, as I had never had anything that tasted like that before. I ended up getting a second one. The entrees we got were the Pot Roast Dinner and the Zwiebel Rostbraten. The pot roast was so savory and flavor, but never salty or overbearing. The gravy is amazing with the mashed potatoes and the meat was super tender. The Zwiebel Rostbraten was our favorite though. Nothing against the pot roast, but it was just literally the greatest thing ever. Everything on the plate went perfectly together and we couldn't stop saying how delicious it was. We barely were able to finish our plates as the servings were generous (especially the amount of meat they gave) but it was perfect as we were so hungry from our hike. We were disappointed only for the fact that we ate so much that we didn't have any space for dessert. We're planning to come back to try more things on their menu. The food is also not expensive at all, considering how perfectly everything is portioned. Combined with the excellent customer service and the warm, welcoming atmosphere, it's really a no brainier for anybody in the area to try this place. We live pretty far (Westchester county) but it's absolutely worth the drive. It really is that good.

We had a large party to celebrate a birthday last weekend. Drinks & food were delicious. Everyone from each department pitched in to help with service from ordering to delivering to bussing. We felt valued and celebrated and a sense of normalcy even though they were likely short staffed like every other restaurant is right now. We highly recommend.

Authentic German restaurant located in the middle of the Hudson Valley. The restaurant is small and was quite busy when we went. Reservations are highly recommended. The staff and all employees are extremely friendly. The pork schnitzel is really amazing. Pounded paper thin, super tender and perfectly fried. I recommend it plain (or stay tuned for a hack). I got the Jaeger sauce on the size, but the meat doesn’t need it. The pretzel is good, but it does have rye seeds inside. I do think the pretzel would be perfect without the seeds. The beef roulade was unbelievable. Tender and super flavorful. It’s comes over a bed of Spaetzle. Order this appetizer to come out with the schnitzel and have a few bites of the schnitzel mixed with the spaetzle covered in the roulade gravy. Absolute showstopper. Great beer menu and overall reasonably priced. Highly recommend!!

First time here during long weekend from NYC, we sat at the bar and were attentively served by the staff. The food and service were great and the food was also good despite the busy weekend and packed house. Met other long-timer patrons at the bar who enjoyed their food/ food/ service/ atmosphere.

Fabulous German food, well priced menu, and the perfect homey vintage decor. It’ll make you want to buy a dirndl and start eating pickled herring. Actually, the pickled herring with onion cream sauce is great! Try that and a Berliner Weiss for the perfect afternoon snack and drink. Their menu is extensive so you’ll have to go back for more. Plenty of seating, kid friendly, gorgeous surroundings, what more could you want!

Best German Food in the Tristate Area. Huge Selection of classic staple dishes and beer. Cant go wrong with the Schnitzels or Pot Roast. Make sure too make a reservation as they are usually booked out every night. Everything is locally sourced and high quality.

Simple, unpretentious, high-calorie German and Austrian dishes, which were very tasty. Be prepared for a very bustling environment, it is a very busy place and service was pretty good, though hasty as they had to cover a lot of ground. Food took a long time to come out, but was good.

Perfect place in front of our stay in Minnewaska Lodge. The innkeeper recommended this place, and we too recommended it. The atmosphere is very unique and cool since the servers were all dressed in dirndls and lederhosen. At first we were seated tightly where the servers were going through the aisle. However, the host saw the issue and was very polite and respectful in moving us to a better seating area. After we settled, we were serviced by Sarah who was very attentive, kind, and very good in explaining what specials, food, and drinks area. We enjoyed Battered Onion Rings, Pork Jaeger Schnitzels, and the Zwiebel Rosbraten. As for drinks, I recommend the Mead: 'Viking Blod' and the Dry Cider: 'Wiccopee'.

Here is what you call a must go establishment! I have been here multiple times and each time is better than the last. The staff is great they are engaging and do everything than can to make the experience for you it's very best. From conversations to taste testing or even giving you the shirt of their backs you do not get better people than the ones at the Mountain Brahaus. Missy and the others behind the bar are mesmerizing to watch just work and fix drinks. They recommend options and pairings of food and beer. Which next let's talk food... My good G Man!!! Start w the specials if this soup is on the list GET IT!!! the rabbit soup my goodness so good I even went home and dreamed about it that night. Than you need anything with the lunderberry jam dont care what you get just get that JAM! Schnitzel fried n hammered paper thin to perfection. Do yourself a favor get a side of the brown gravy to dip it in. I can go on n on with the main course but who am I kidding get to the desserts man! You need 3 things... 1. Ask Missy to make you a hot chocolate in the tall cup. 2. The 9 layer honey cake with the berry medley 3. And of course the German chocolate cake. Came here for lunch after a hike and it was everything we needed! A big portion of delicious schnitzel (the most delicious one I've had) and a salad with a good selection of German beer. Service was amazing as well, attentive bartenders who care about the experience of the guests. So happy we stumbled upon this place.
