Bay Islands

Honduras' Bay Islands, north of the mainland in the Caribbean, are made up of 3 principal islands. Lying alongside the 1,000-km Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, they're renowned snorkeling and scuba-diving destinations. Roatán, the largest island, is famed for its beaches and dive site with volcanic crevices. Massive whale sharks frequent the waters off Utila during select months. Mountainous terrain distinguishes Guanaja.

Fishing Charters & Tours
Roatán is a serene location that entices visitors with its beautiful white sand beaches, vibrant coral reef and tropical flora. The island boasts a plethora of activities including scuba diving, snorkeling and jungle tours in buggies. Multi-story condominiums on either side overlook the ocean adding to the tranquil ambiance of this small Honduran island.
This small island of Hondouras is absolutely beautiful. The lush greenery and fresh and clean air with the blue Sea and clear skies makes everything so perfect. The port is adequate for docking big cruise ships as Odyssey of the seas.

Nice port for cruising with a private free beach area! Snorting was excellent off the mesoamerican reef!

Beautiful island. Wonderful people. As a Canadian, we had to stop and get poutine at The Hangover Hut in West Bay. Unfortunately not real curds, but given the import challenges, I was just happy to find a semblance of home whilst in paradise

I'm sure that Honduras is an amazing place for diving and snorkeling, but having "ROATAN ISLAND TOUR AND BEACH" an organized $70, 4-hour tour by Royal Caribbean around the town is absolutely terrible, seeing poverty and garbage in every single corner. Absolutely, good for educational purposes and i give 5-star for it 4.5 star to local people, seems to be friendly, polite and happy. 1-star for the tour, not recommended at all.

Beautiful Island! secluded and quiet. calm waters with no waves, crystal clear water, not too crowded, great for snorkel and families. The only downside is that the food is not cheap compared to Mexico.

What an experience! Loved walking West Bay, looking for souvenirs. Loved the Bean Crazy for coffee and sweets. The place right next door has less expensive souvenirs and same kind as everywhere else. Shirts were $7.99 vs $15.99 at another place. Also eat at Sandy Buns! It's definitely a must! Everyone is really nice there. So many dive shops but go with Octopus Dive School! Stay on Gibson Bight in an airbnb. Go with 2k Adventures with Ronnie! Nicest guy! Mayan Eden for sure was best! So many cool animals! More than A. J.'s Bring all the sprays for bugs. Only thing I didn't like were lots of ants, sand flies, mosquitos. Be prepared for the muggy, hot trip! But so beautiful!

Its a nice Island with many things to do but nothing extraordinary that my wife and I have seen many times during our S.E. Asian vacations. Lot's of traffic, Island is very dirty, trash everywhere, the main roads are muddy and slippery. 1. Roatan prices are solely based off of USD. The reason everything is so expensive is because of several cruise ships(up to 14k tourist) that come in, the local economy is flooded with USD and is the predominantly used currency. The cost of living down there is the same if not even more expensive as in the USD so bring at least USD 1000 if you stay for 8-9 days. even gas/petrol is close to $7 per gallon. Very important !!! **Make sure before you leave your country that you get many very small bills $1, 5 & 10s, because it is very difficult to get small bills on the island thus causing you to have to give out $20 for many things from boat taxi's to food and tips for service(drivers, wait staff, bartender, a/p personnel).** Water taxis will take you anywhere you want to go for $5 a person make sure you have correct change or you may not get anything back. If any bill you get states "servicio" on it that means the tip is already figured in, do not double tip. Local ranges from $-10, Foreign ranges from 15 for appetizers, 20-30 main plate, some main plates for specialty items like certain seafood or steak can get quite prices up to 75$

Everyone’s favorite port on our recent 7-night Caribbean family cruise vacation. It is a beautiful island with friendly people and lots to do and see. We are already planning a trip to the island when we can spend 7 to 10 days in the West End.

A very interesting island just off the coast of mainland Honduras. Ecologically beautiful, but economically depressed. This was my third time there with a first time visitor. On previous trips I did the beaches and snorkeling. Great relaxing and magnificent reefs. Did the grand bus tour this time. Took off one star because of delays due to traffic. Otherwise the tour was expansive and educational. Although Honduras is a Spanish speaking nation, Roatan has stuck with it's British roots and is primarily English speaking. It is just exotic enough to bring wonder, yet still quite knowable.

The only day we got rained out during our trip was this day, but have been before and it’s enjoyable when the weather is good. We were not able to kayak as planned, but good thing the restaurant is on the beach. The chair lift to the beach is scenic and peaceful.

This island of Honduras is a safe and beautiful place to visit. We had a guide that took us around the whole island to various shops and points of interest. Driving around is a bit intimidating since there didn't seem to be any stop signs or lights, or really any kind of road rules, but our driver was great and we made it without incident everywhere we went.

Little French Key

Island
Outdoor Activities
Little French Key is a secluded tropical island that offers an array of aquatic sports, wildlife sightings, and thrilling adventure tours. Despite rumors of closure due to exotic cats on the island, it remains open and fully functional with no reservations required. The island's touristy atmosphere makes it ideal for a day trip with plenty of activities for children and adults alike. Visitors can enjoy excellent snorkeling in clear waters or lounge on the pristine sandy beach while taking in breathtaking views.
Its paradise here. We felt like VIP and the beach is so clean with soft sand and clear water. Theres little fishies that swim all around you. The servers are very friendly and try to accommodate you as best as possible.

This place was pretty decent. I think we came on a good day with no cruise ships. So very few people around and got to just explore the island at our own pace and choose our area we wanted to hang out at. It’s sad seeing all the animals in cages but we were told they are rescues. Still a neat experience. It’s worth a day if not crowded.
Casey Anderson — Google review
Little French Key is open and gorgeous! We decided to go to the ferry stop and they are in fact open, even though the former owner is posting that it’s closed with guards (there’s exotic cats on the island). We didn’t need reservations. All the services are available and we had a great trip there! Great snorkeling and beautiful beach. I highly recommend it.
Jane Burzell — Google review
We went there at 12:00 and bought the snorkel package. The price offered at the website and on the phone is not what we ended paying (it didn’t include tax, around 19%). The guy who charged us the tickets reassured us that we could add or do any other activity (in case we wanted to) and after we were done with the snorkeling tour, we decided to add the horseback riding activity to our package, but once we were there they told us that there were no more activities past 14:00. If we would’ve known this, we would’ve been there earlier or gone somewhere else. The place looks a bit abandoned. Some parts were not open. Some structures are falling apart, some areas need a paint job and the caged animals don’t look well taken care of. The food menu is not that great. The package included only around 4 drinks and 4 types of meals. The rest is for purchase. On the good side: The snorkeling tour guides were fantastic. Overall an ok experience. Would I go back again? No.
Sheryl Nicole Ruiz — Google review
Very nice place but sorta overrated, entrance for me was $98 plus %19 because I paid with card, anyway they charge you with +%15 if you pay in cash, included 2 drinks and 1 meal. (Things you don’t know until you’re there) The drinks included are just 4 types, meal also only 4 types, they give you snorkels, kayaks, paddle boards, as long they are available, if all were taken, sorry you lost. Misleading information, I tried 2 times to get an explanation from all the things included, I didn’t get details on the “adventure” thing. You get the transportation, access, equipment, 2 drinks, 1 meal, and some adventure pass, which I didn’t see or got details. Water wasn’t blue by the way, is all green. I was expecting turquoise as the pictures.
Sergio Oliva — Google review
Had a great day. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Only complaint was website said they take Amex and they don't. Wiped us out of cash and kept us from horseback riding and opening a bar tab so we cut our visit short. Hope they get more organized and charge one flat rate for all inclusive. Felt more hectic than friendly when our group of 15 arrived for the day.

Amazing place to hang out all day. We went on a Friday no cruise ships barely any people there so we felt like we had a private island. Albert was amazing in keep the cold beers coming.

Amazing little getaway from your already getaway experience. I purchased the Full Island package so that I could snorkel around the island. The one free meal was a good portion and very delicious. Great music and ambience, clear water. Chair lounges and hammocks everywhere. Lots of cool photo options. You can spend an entire day there and be entertained.

For our first stop on our RC cruise we visited LFK on 20 Nov 19. First off, let me just say getting passed the port gates was absolute chaos with all the taxis and travel companies, so book in advance. BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS! True to their instructions there was a staff there in "44" shirts to pick us up. The drive from the port is about 15 minutes and the vans are quite comfortable. Upon arrival, we checked in and got our food and drink tickets and took their 1 mile boat ride to LFK. We went strait to the cove to get some chairs and our waiter arrived to take our drink orders. Our waiter disclosed it was his first day and boy did we find out why. Simply put: it took forever to get drinks, we waited for an hour for lunch that came out randomly, nachos were forgotten, and by the end of the day I was going to the other bar to just get water. The grounds are well kept, but no animals as the Honduran military police showed up and took them to the mainland because of an ongoing tiff between the owners of LFK and the local government. The pigs, horses and two white lions are there, but most of the cages were empty. Besides that the beaches are clean and water is nice. LFK has a self imposed visitor capacity so that it is not too crowded and fortunately it wasn't. But, the next key over (Big French Key) that shares the lagoon is going to be a Carnival island soon so that may increase the population in the future. I give our visit a 3, only because our service was soooo bad and the food was ah-right. Don't get me wrong LFK is a cool place to visit and not too crowded, but I have to be honest and say the wait staff needs more training, has to learn how to handle more than one task at a time and improve on their organizational hospitality skills.

Hard to dispute that this is a beautiful beach. Nice sand and shallow calm water. HOWEVER, there are lots of people walking the beach trying to sell you things, and the beach is not very deep from water to beach chairs. That spot in between is free for people to use, but hard to find especially since it is a busy beach. Access is also a little confusing but the road beside Bananarama is good and on the north end there is a parking at the end of Foster's Rd. At least it's easy to find a place to eat and get a drink.

Absolutely horrified at how locals treat stray dogs. If you want to find out what the locals are doing to dogs so that they don't "bother" tourists, just do a Google search. I was shocked to see this. Not recommended.

Very pretty beach with free access! So don’t let your tour guide make you pay unless you want a pool or chairs then you will have to pay. But the guides will try to take you places that they get a hit off the money you spend.
Paul Sip — Google review
Incredible golden sand, clear turquoise waters, amazing sea life, and an overall calm beach. We fell in love with it. I think we might have gotten lucky, as we didn't really experience being hassled by sales people on the beach. However, we did go super early, I think about 8am. We also went to the very end of the beach. The more we walked towards the middle section, the more sellers and people you would encounter.

Best area in Roatan, great beaches, hotels and restaurants
Elias Andonie — Google review
Nice Beach but there's lots of trash on it unfortunately. Also too many vendors there selling things. You may also kind of feel scammed when you get there. First they tell you it's only $10 per person taxi ride. Then they tell you there's an additional $3 entry fee. Then they make you pay another $20 to go to the beach club to use their chairs and tell you that supposedly there's no entry area for this Beach that's free. The colors of the water was nice though!
Mariam Saifan — Google review
Overall the beaches nice. Golden sand, not a whole lot of seashells or debris in it. Plenty restaurants nearby, but they are generally all overpriced. Main downside is all the locals hassling you while you’re trying to relax.
Sean — Google review
Beatiful sea, sand and very nice people. It was windy and red flags were on, so we took a bath on the pool.
Milos Grujic — Google review
Amazing beach, Amazing snorkeling, only downside is the people on the beach trying relentlessly to sell you things to the point it's annoyingly distracting. They'll ask you every single time you come in and out of the water.
BLITZFIRE911 — Google review
The beach itself is beautiful. Lots of water sports are available. I paid a water taxi $25 to take me to the corals to snorkel. He had the equipment. The only problem was all the vendors who don't let you relax. They continuously ask to braid your hair, massage you, or try selling you things. They are very persistent, and once one of them move on, the next one comes. Also, you need to keep an eye on your things. If they could get this under control, it would be a great beach.
Wendy S — Google review
It’s a nice Caribbean beach. We went through a tour company, Victor Boden Tours. They took us to a resort at the beach. We had some chairs shaded by palm trees on the beach which was nice. The sand was soft and the waves were calm. The beach itself is a 15 to 20 minute walk from end to end. There are resorts and restaurants along the beach. Vendors are there to sell you souvenirs, coconut water from coconuts, pineapples, and cotton candy. They were all polite. The beach was nice, and there was plenty of security as well. Nice island! I’d come back.

Maya Key

Beaches
Maya Key is a relaxing tourist destination that offers pristine beaches and excellent snorkeling opportunities. Visitors can explore the reefs which are conveniently located close to shore, with guides available for those who need assistance. The pier provides a vantage point for watching the sea life. The area also boasts clean restrooms, shaded chairs, and walking paths. Tourists can admire replicas of Mayan ruins and view various animals such as monkeys in their natural habitat.
Awesome spot, 100% recommendation from me! The snorkeling was top notch. Our guide was professional, courteous and knowledgeable, and the view he showed us was breathtaking. We swam right up to the edge where the shallow reef fell off into the blue depths, and saw some amazing wildlife. Good food as well; the sea bass and local cuisine was all tasty and well made. The drinks from the bar (I got rum punch, another member of my party got a mudslide) were fairly standard. For anyone concerned; the water and ice are filtered. The beach was well groomed, clean and peaceful, with access by sloped path (mobility impaired people may have some issue handling the incline, but there are no steps). Plenty of shade and sun depending on which beach char you take. And, during our visit, there were more than enough for all the visitors. My only significant complaints are the animal exhibits (parrots, monkeys and big cats), which seemed small and basic, and the Mayan "ruins", which, by my limited interaction, seemed cheap (they are recreations). However, I was too busy snorkeling to participate in the animal and ruins tours, so I have an incomplete opinion. Overall, an awesome excursion, and I would love to go back with a better camera.

Fantastic day getaway, amazing snorkeling experience with a drop off! The food served was amazing, and the island was gorgeous. Plenty of animals are running around as well as some very healthy looking ones in captivity, White candy beaches, clear blue water, warm weather, good drinks... what more can you ask for!? I can't wait to came back!

Maya Key Roatan Honduras is a private island retreat. It is an excellent resort and you can snorkel, swim and just relax on the beach. They have a bar that is amazing and their staff just excellent. Really nice place to visit. A 15 min boat ride from the Mahogany Bay cruise pier.

We came here on a cruise ship excursion. What a great place! I highly recommend walking around before settling in to a beach chair by the main beach. We found several spots with access to the water, shade and very few people. Lunch was great as well! BBQ chicken, fried fish, plantains and salad.

We have been here twice now. Once on our honeymoon, and again recently with our children. This island is beautiful. Well landscaped. Very clean. Lots of areas to soak in the views, sun, sand & water. They have a fresh water pool. Snorkeling area with guides off the pier. Food and drinks available. A good size gift shop with snacks. And lots of animals to check out that have been rescued or are rehabilitating. I like that there is NO one around to harass you. It's a private island. The landscape is picturesque. The cruise lines offer a package with lunch right from the pier next to the ship. We used that the first time. The 2nd time we made a reservation thru the website. You pay when you arrive. Altho the cruise ships are picky and won't let you on the Maya key boat at the pier, you can take a cab about a mile or so down the shoreline and Maya key will pick you up there. Our ship docked late, and there was also some discrepancy in ship time vs local time. A wonderful woman called Maya key for us and arranged a private boat to meet us in a cab at their secondary pickup location noted above. No charge (we tipped) When we arrived, exhausted and overheated with 3 small children in tow, They had an air conditioned lobby and cold fresh water for us to collect ourselves. Then it was off to enjoy our day on the island. Everything was beautiful, clean, breathtaking. The boat to return to the ship ran every 30 minutes and delivered us ship side. Both times we have gone here, 10+ years apart, their were not many tourists on the island. Plenty of beach chairs, shade, and space with no crowding. It felt very safe here. We will definitely return here again any time we are in Roatan.

Visited on Caribbean Princess. Beach is a 5 min walk from Port shops or you can pay $12 to take a chair lift. Only take the chair loft if you have physical issues and can't walk. It is slower than walking. Beach is nice and sandy with lots of lounge chairs. Water gets fairly deep fast then shallows further in. Need to watch little kids. Swim area is enclosed. Snorkel area is off the dock at the far end of the Beach. Lots of live corals. One of best snorkel stops on a cruise without taking a boat. Couple of restaurants there. There are servers on the beach that bring the food to you.

Best part of going to The island, I suggest anyone that goes on a cruise here, books this excursion. There was every animal from the jungle I could hope to see here and some very curious baby monkeys. I also had the chance to snorkel here for the first time and it was amazing and I hope to be able to do it again!

Wonderful. Beautiful. Tranquil. Well maintained and a lovely place to take a walk, swim, sun bath or snorkel. They also have rescued animals for viewing a cool temple replica on top of the hill with artifacts on display. Spend the whole day for sure.

A great way to spend the day relaxing. Clean beaches with great snorkeling on sight, the reefs were very close to shore and guides available to help you if you’re interested in help, otherwise they are there on the pier watching. Lunch was provided, bar was good and reasonably priced, restrooms were clean. When we’d had enough sun there were plenty of chairs and walking paths in the shade. Replicas of Mayan ruins and quite the number of animals to see… the monkeys were our favorite to watch.

Maya Key was a beautiful retreat just 3 mins from the cruise port. The barge was waiting when we arrived. There is a pool, hot tub, and plenty of seating. The beach area is beautiful, the water was clear and smooth when we arrived. You can snorkel at the end of that dock area, see the wild animal sanctuary, eat a tasty lunch that is included in the day pass, and shop the gift shop that had lovely local made items as well as items you may have forgotten to bring. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and well maintained. The planes arriving into Roatan have a flight path directly over the island, and we saw quite a few arrivals the day we were there. I would for sure choose this as an excursion on a cruise again or even visit if making Roatan my vacation destination. The staff were extremely nice and helpful.
Paula McCracken — Google review
My family had a great time at Maya Key. Started with a nice lunch and drinks by the pool and then a really cool tour to see the rescued animals. Plenty of things to do and see here. If you have younger kids I highly recommend coming.

Amazing private island! No crowds or wait anywhere on the island. Tour guides were fun , friendly, and informative. Really sweet people. The rescued animals were awesome to see, and you can tell they are very well loved and cared for. Snorkeling was the best! The guide was really cool, and took my group of 3 out past the usual boundaries, to the drop off, which was breathtaking. The whole island was spotless, and well maintained. The tropical flora was astounding. Good job by everyone here. I will recommend this place to anyone who will listen!

If self driving, make sure to search for Maya Key parking and ferry for location on google maps. Text the number for Maya Key on Whatsapp and they will send a boat to get you. It's not open on Saturday/Sundays. Go on a lighter cruise day for less crowds. We got to feed the rescue sea lion ans see other animals on site. Lunch was good, buffet style. Pool is chilly but clean

Maya Key is always a great day of fun after diving "Mary's Place". Our boat Capt. Louis & DM Caldaron bring us to the key for a light lunch buffet and we enjoy the animals in the sanctuary. Georgie, the spider monkey, is so very special we are very fond of him. It appears they are building beach cabanas for a super relaxing beach day.

This 20-acre eco-adventure and history park is located on the beachfront of West Bay. It offers walking trails where you see more of Roatans natural views, as well as interactive animal attractions such as a swimming pool, gardens, and kids' play areas. The experience was wonderful, and the guides were very informative. The park was a great excursion for all ages!
What an unbelievable time we had at Gumbalimba Park! We stopped in Roatan, Honduras and made shore excursion reservations with ship, so glad we listened to them! The pickup location was right off of the boat and was a quick drive around the island. We did the zip lining first, there were quite a bit of zip lines. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed that, I did as well. I tweaked my shoulder a little bit so missed the last two lines, but that was okay. It was a lot of fun! Next we walked through the park, we got to see iguanas, parrots and monkeys! That was so unbelievably cool. I was hanging out on one of the benches and a mama monkey and her baby came over and sat next to me. Definitely a memory I will always remember. The grounds were pretty, they had a variety of flowers, trees to see. We swam at the beach for a little while and did a quick stop in the gift shop before taking the shuttle back to the boat. It was a full day and definitely worth the money!🐒🌸🏖️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We loved going to this park to experience the birds and monkeys! We loved how they were free to come and go as they pleased. They all looked very healthy and happy. There were some of the biggest iguanas I have ever seen in my life!. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history of the island and also the plants. We enjoyed learning about the origins of the indigenous people and thier culture.

This is a marvelous place to visit. We did this as a cruise excursion while we were in Roatan. Getting to be with the iguanas, macaws, and monkeys was amazing. Our guide was Christopher (in the first picture), and his knowledge was superb and his English was fantastic. His laugh made everyone laugh. You can ride the air swings from the village to the beach (about 10 min) for $15 a person for as many rides as you would like. The water is crystal clear, and the beaches are superbly maintained. Highly recommended!

We visited Gumbalimba Park through a shore excursion on a Royal Caribbean cruise, and it was the highlight of our vacation. The park is beautiful with a nice, private beach, a pool, and showers. There was a fun mccaw encounter that we all enjoyed, and iguanas all over the place. However, the highlight of the tour was the encounter with the capuchin monkeys. They were adorable and friendly, and it was extremely enjoyable. I must also mention that our guide, Amos, was very informative, funny, and kind. He really made the tour great.

The history and culture of Roatan, mixed with the nature and wildlife was a big hit for the kids and adults. Holding the birds, and then the monkeys was quite the experience. We visited Roatan on a Royal Caribbean cruise, and spent a fantastic day at Gumbalimba Park. - It was a short shuttle bus ride to the park which was comfortable. Brian, our guide for the day, provided some history and insights along the way. - Once at the park, we spent time with the Iguanas, Macaws, and Monkeys. The Macaws and Monkeys were very interactive and a lot of fun. It was one of the highlights of the cruise. - The tour of the park included a man-made cave that provided more information on Roatan, the Mayan civilization, and a brief overview of the pirating that occurred. There was a fun suspension bridge to cross and a large insect collection on display. - We ended our day relaxing in the ocean before catching a shuttle return to the ship. If you like Macaws and Monkeys, and who doesn't, we highly recommend visiting the park.

Gorgeous park & excellent guide, Michael! Our guide and our trainer were very personable & knowledgeable about the history of the island and the wildlife on the park. I really appreciated the fact that all the iguana, monkeys, agouti, and macaws are allowed to roam freely, and the monkeys aren’t caged nor macaws have their wings clipped. They also have all their head & chest feathers which is a sign of good health, contentment, and low stress. Beautiful happy animals = Awesome experience!

Take your time to visit the place. It is a beautiful day to meet the monkeys and the parrots. The tour guide answers all your questions and talks in Spanish and English too. You can't bring things to the monkey area because they stole it. They're lockers available for a purchase. I think it was like $5 and you can stack your backpack and your family. They are big.

This place was so great. Everyone got to hold and take photos with parrots and monkeys. You got a fun small-group tour and did not feel rushed. If you have difficulty walking distances, walking un-even terrain, with stairs, or across bouncing suspension bridge, they offer a golf-cart tour for an additional $10pp. My grandfather used this option and enjoyed the visit much more than another gentleman in our walking group who should have opted for the golf cart.
Madison Murphy — Google review
We went here through an excursion from our cruise. We had the best time holding the Monkeys and McCaws. The suspension bridge was also so fun, and there is beautiful scenery when crossing over it. Iguanas are everywhere, and that was also very cool.

Lots of fun stuff at this nature park. Loved the macaws which live in the wild but are sheltered at night. Also, loved the capuchin monkeys which are quite friendly and will sit on your shoulders. There is beach access, a fantastic insect museum and a history cave. We had loads of fun!

This was my favorite excursion on our cruise! They let you take pictures with birds and monkeys, with trainer assistance. The employees were all kind and professional. Would highly recommend!

The monkeys and macaws are the highlights, the informative tour was well put together along with a nice trail to see the monkeys.

Fun place. Tour guide was great! Would be helpful for those with mobility issues to have other options for stairs around the cave. Enjoyed interacting with the animals though! Well cared for!

The eclectic restaurant Roatan Oasis features an impressive view of the forest and serves up contemporary fusion cuisine with a focus on seafood. The restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike, and the service is attentive and friendly. Parking is available nearby, and the food is reasonably priced.
One of the best restaurants on Roatan. It is a bit on the pricey side. The lobster pot pie, with a side of mashed potatoes and salad was amazing. My vidaloo leg of lamb came with rice, raita, and house made naan was beautifully prepared. Probably traditional but I would have liked some veggies. Our starter a warm lentil, goat cheese & olive pate was also unbelievabley good.

The Roatan Oasis is an indoor setting and open patio setting restaurant. (My wife called it a tree house.) The staff were very nice and accommodating, remember you are on an island and things are more relaxed here. The food was great (I know cause I got to try some from everyone in my group).

The food was creative and delicious. The staff handled our large party with ease and we were treated with a beautiful Roatan Sunset

The restaurant is beautiful and very calm. The food is excellent and well priced. The risto and fresh fish was very tasty! The service is also excellent. They are extremely attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend a meal here.

Where do I start? Best restaurant in the West End, and probably all of Roatan. What an incredible meal. Fresh, innovative, amazing flavours, presentation, cocktails and service. All in a beautiful space. I wish we visited earlier so we could have come a few times before we leave! Honestly do not miss this place if you love great food. ❤️

Simply amazing! The smells coming out of the kitchen here will make you wanting to try everything on the menu and you really can’t go wrong! Local beers on tap and I loved the espresso martini! Make sure you get your reservations in well in advance or risk missing out! Service is too notch and the food is as good looking or better then the photos!

Hands down best culinary experience in the island. Been here many a times, we’ve tried everything on. the menu. Literally perfect. Chill, modern atmosphere, great service, amazing food, local beer & drink, craft everything.

Had two of the most amazing meals here! The food is thoughtfully crafted, unique, and delicious! The atmosphere and service were amazing as well!
Mikayla Weeks — Google review
Extremely well thought out menu; very creative and well done. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, and you'll likely need a reservation. The food quality, unique flavors, and the knowledgeable and friendly service make RO my favorite restaurant on the island!

Wow, such a wonderful meal. Highlight was the soup and the ribs but all dishes were tasty! We also enjoyed the dessert. The prices were very fair and I can't wait to return! Definitely make a reservation. We got our car stuck while parking off the side of the road, and people from the restaurant rushed to help us quickly. Great crew.

We had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner at Roatan Oasis. The service was great and the food was very good. It was no doubt the best restaurant we visited on our trip. Reservations esp during the holiday season is highly recommended - there was only 1 slot available NYE, and we booked it over a month in advance! There is indoor and outdoor seating but no real view from the restaurant. They have a fully stocked bar and serve good drinks. I would recommend their signature Moscow mule with their own homemade ginger beer and for dessert their chocolate mousse. Both are very tasty. If you are looking for more of a relaxed fine dining experience in Roatan this is definitely your spot.

Excellent food, crowd and spot. I made reservations to this place based on the reviews and it didn't disappoint, the food was great, the ambient was great, the drinks were great and the view was even better, we had the Sea Bass, Lamb Pork Chops and Skirt Steak and all three meals were delicious, the dessert was a pie that was to die for, very friendly owners...they also had live music when we visited.

Chicken restaurant
Dolas is a popular chicken restaurant in West End that offers large portions at great prices. The chicken is cooked to perfection and pairs well with their selection of sides. Creoles Rotisserie Chicken is open daily except on Sunday and Monday, making it the perfect spot to snack on some delicious chicken anytime of the day.
Our best meal in Roatan. I asked our tour guide from Cleve’s Tours where HER favorite place to eat was and she said Creoles, without a doubt, so we had to try it. What a pleasant surprise! My wife and I both had the curry chicken plate and WOW! Flavor explosion! We also loved the homemade pickled beets and sauces. You’ll want to lick the plate clean, but save room for desert as she has several amazing options. We ate the coffee tres leches cake there, and took home a coconut cream pie and peanut butter chocolate banana bread for later. OMG. Delicious. Friendly owner and cute doggies keep you company. My tummy is rumbling just thinking about it. Can’t wait to return.
Kevin Kubota — Google review
Some of the best meals we ate on the island! We had dinner one night. The chicken was delicious and juicy. The sides were all amazing-the coconut rice and beans was phenomenal, the beans were great, and wow the yuca! We had breakfast a different day (they open at 9 am). Portions were big. Prices were fair. And the food was very tasty! Last but most importantly: the pies!! Wow they were phenomenal. My husband said the key lime pie is possibly the best key lime he’s ever had in his life. And the coconut cream pie was so good we had it multiple days!
Alissa Orr — Google review
Good portions, chicken was moist and flavorful. Ordered the red beans and rice and yuca as sides, plus the Israeli couscous as an add on. Hearty, satisfying, but nothing fancy. Note all seating is outside (covered), so bring your mosquito repellant. The wild cats like to hang out here, probably to watch the birds in the huge cage like we were.
Casey — Google review
We had some delicious fried shrimp & fried fished here. Def worth a stop.
Michael Demidenko — Google review
Delicious and really tasty meals! The concept is simple; you create your own meal by choosing a main food and then you add your sides. There is a long list of sides, which are all vegetarian! They were also able to make me a vegetarian quesadilla, even if it wasn’t on the menu. My boyfriend had the chicken and he told me it was the best chicken he ever had. The prices are really affordable and the food is just sooooo tasty and delicious! The staff is also really kind and the service is great!

The whole chicken dinner is a steal. Tasty and fed my family of 5 easily. A great meal and awesome desserts.
Cara Bader — Google review
Most delicious chicken and sides, able to share the whole chicken dinner with group of 4. Highly recommend if you are in West End and looking for a low key dinner spot. Key Pie = HEAVEN. Edit - so good, had to come back the following night for another slice of the best key lime pie in the world.

I love this place as a local. The location is a bit near the end of West End Road, you might miss it, but try not to as they have a really good meal and for those that love deserts they have a glass case to showcase their food. They also take credit cards for your convenience.
Bruce Nicholls — Google review
The best chicken of my life. Plus I love the ambience.. cozy, authentic, quiet in a jungle garden. Then there desserts!!! OMG. Worth all the calories! The female staff and the owner for 20+ years is charming and worthy of support!
Josi Kytle — Google review
It's true, you heard it here; cats and dogs do live together and they both love chicken, or anything you might want to spill on the floor. This is a chicken place, as the name says, and it was delicious. We shared a half with two sides, it was just right for two, a couple glasses of wine, the price was perfect. We passed on desert, but their desert cabinet looked scrumptious, next time for sure. They have a pretty nice gift shop with what appears to be local artists wares
Steve M — Google review
Best rotisserie chicken on the island! You can't pass this gem on the west end. Food is fresh and made to order. They have such a nice ambie both in and on the front of the restaurant. Can't go wrong.
Kate B — Google review
After being mostly disappointed with the food in the island, this is one of a handful of places that deserve a review. The side dishes were all good, fresh and delicious. The curry chicken was great, deserts were great and the prices were very reasonable. If you're going to over pay for a burger or tacos that are not even authentic in other restaurants , better come here and enjoy a delicious meal!

Creoles is a gem of a restaurant on the west side of the West End. I got a recommendation from a local to try the place, I was looking for a casual restaurant. Creoles certainly exceeded my expectations. First of all, the owner, Dola, is an awesome lady who puts her heart and soul this place, the restaurant is put together tastefully. I tried the baked chicken , HUGE PORTIONS even by American standards, and very reasonably priced. The food is like mama’s home cooking, (not that greasy over seasoned restaurant stuff you get everywhere ). The tables in the garden are fantastic, overlooking the ocean, try to be there around sunset , makes for a memorable romantic dinner 😉 I particularly liked the variety of the salsas. I had the baked chicken with garlic yuca and the rice and beans, so much heavenly food. On my next trip I’m definitely going back to Creole
M Koti — Google review
Some of the best food I've had on the island. Everything is prepared fresh and to perfection. The rotisserie is the best!!! My favorite sides are the coconut rice and beans & the coleslaw, but there's many more! There are freshly made deserts as well. My favorites are the carrot cake and tiramisu. The tiramisu is a bit untraditional but amazing nonetheless. There is indoor and outdoor seating, great staff and just a wonderful spirit about the place, food, and people. A must have!

The Drunken Sailor is a pizza restaurant in the West End that specializes in Roman-style pizza by the yard. The food is also available to eat inside or take away. They also serve creamy pasta dishes, fruity sangria, and Aperol Spritz.
Delicate and nuanced cuisine that has no business being this good! We absolutely loved our own Roman style pizza and homemade pasta. Unreal food, great prices, awesome vibe. Can’t wait to come back on our next trip to Roatan!

The owner/chef 👨‍🍳 is very personable, great, authentic food, services is a bit slower paced, but I think that’s Roatan- “island time.” I’ve come back twice and will be back again! Do NOT leave without ordering an apparel spritz, it is an Italian favorite!

We started out with the bruschetta, yum! Then a made to order pizza, Yum! Then the lasagna, YUM! Oh, and you can pay with Bitcoin or PayPal - although we’re both too old to figure that out. Good thing they also accept CC and cash!

Sooooo rare to find an authentic Italian kitchen in Central America. I can't articulate how much I needed real homemade pasta cooked - al dente - by real Italians. This is it. Not to miss. Great service, good red wine (served chilled), Amatriciana almost perfect. I can't even fault them for not having guanciale, as I'm sure it's impossible to find. They do the best job doing what they can with what you can get here; as is the Italian way, work with what you've got. Pizza, Roman style was also a hit. Bella, deliziosa, grazie amici. 🤌
Christina Penn — Google review
I needed this. All of it. Making a reservation is recommended. The Appetizers are delicious. Real italian cheese, home made bread and bruschetta just a little piece of Europe in the middle of west end. The home made gnocchi tasted like a subtle and very eloquent breeze of the gnocchi you get in most of the places. The bolognese is solid and the tortellini also made our day. All three deserts we tasted have been amazing as well. If it wasn’t our last day we would have come back over and over. Thank you for curing my !only for the food and my cats! homesick heart.

Stephanie was amazing recommending dishes and drinks to accompany our meal. Very friendly and professional. The food itself was amazing, fresh homemade pasta with great ingredients and amazing taste. Don’t miss out on this when you come here
David Karl Gavrila — Google review
I enjoyed my experience here . Couldn’t rate it 5 stars because my pasta wasn’t cooked al dente, but the bolognese sauce was good. I was able to order a simple side salad and was charged cheaper for it which I appreciated and the dessert was pretty . I enjoyed the sangria , try it out

The eggplant parmesan was really good. Heavy. Very filling. Lots of cheese. Everyone at the table loved their pasta choices (build your own style). Open aired front deck seating on the main West End road. Limited seating (maybe 25 people). *Bathroom is at the back of the plaza next door. You need to ask for the key at the counter /bar. *Paypal available

Pretty good pizza. The crust here is on the thicker side. If you’re looking for a thinner crust, head to C Level down the road. Everything else we’ve had has been pretty good.

Fried ravioli is amazing, but the sauce...oh the sauce! All the pasta is home-made as is the sauce. Great food, excellent wine selection, friendly service, and a great place to slow down, relax and people watch. I'll be back !

Sundowners is a lively and popular beach bar on Roatan that's known for its delicious food and cold drinks. It's perfect for catching up with friends or meeting new expats during the day, and at night it becomes the go-to place for partying. The live music add an extra layer of fun to your visit, and the waterfront seating provides beautiful views of the water.
Casual place to hang for food or cocktail and gack with the local expats for which they are plenty to choose from, lots of interesting characters, you'll get an earful, whether you like it or not. All that I met were friendly and harmless, except for one of them 😊. The have music regularly. Cash only, priced right 👍 we will be there again during this week. Food and drinks are great 👍

I think we ended up here at least once every day/evening we were in West End. Hockey playoffs on the big screen, trivia night, live music, great service and affordable beers. Oh, and as with everything on Half Moon Bay, just an amazing view. Only caveat is that what we ate felt like typical North American bar food. Everything was good but nothing unique. Great to eat while enjoying the bar, entertainment or game; but would not make my list of "must eats in West End", but definitely one of the tops spots for "must drinks in West End."
Trevor Timmons — Google review
Cash Only! Big loaded cocktails. The Zainee Lainee was really great, imagine an orange flavored piña colada. The burgers and wraps are simple but tasty. Service is a bit slow but what are you in a hurry for? Enjoy the idyllic beach view. Touristy but good. Spent about $20 per person for a main and a cocktail each.

Great spot! Beautiful views. Food is good, but what really made a difference to me was the staff. Adriana is not only an efficient bartender, but also a genuine and great person. Never once did I see her not smile and have fun with the guests. Unlike some of the other spots in west end, her and the other bartenders like Missy, made you feel like this was your home bar. They're the best in West end

Lauren Hughes — Google review
I had a blast at Sundowners many years ago, and talked it up to my wife, who I brought here for our honeymoon this week. Sadly, our experience at sunset yesterday (April 6, 2023) was truly absurd and we won’t be going back. We sat down at the (mostly empty) bar, got our own menus, and sat…and waited…and waited…and waited. In 15 minutes, not one of the 3 bartenders (or 2 + 1 barback) even looked at us or acknowledged our existence. I’ve never seen anything like it, especially at a bar that small. Even if a bartender is busy, a simple “i’ll be right with you” or even “hey guys, one sec!” lets the customer know you see them. Instead, they just kept chatting (and reserving) the other 4 patrons on the other sides of the bar. The older lady even walked past us 5 or 6 times. Not once did she even look at us. It was like we were invisible. So. Fvcking. Rude. Finally, after 15 minutes, we said, “well, fvck it”, gathered our things, and walked away. Still not a word or eye contact. Truly such a bizarre experience. If they don’t want our money, we are happy to oblige. Fvck Sundowners! We went to Ipanema’s instead, where the staff was so friendly, and the food was amazing. The owner came and sat with us, and the GM gave us a tour of the bakery upstairs where they make everything fresh in-house every morning. A complete 180 from Sundowners. Go there instead! EDIT: See owner’s response to get a better understanding why the staff suuucks and their attitudes are terrible. No, we are not associated with Ipanema or any other business on Roatan. Also, we were sitting AT THE BAR, not a table. Read much?

Somehow we continue to find the best Italian food is actually in the Caribbean. Pazzo was recommended to us by our Dive Shop owner (and friend of the chef) who is Italian. Small and quaint, but super fun. Lively atmosphere and so happy this was our last meal on the island. Service was fantastic. Started with the Carpaccio, had the Rigatoni special, and finished with the Lime Pie. All.to.die.for. Thank you! Pro-Tips: 1.) Get a reservation 2.) It's BYOB 3.) It's cash or PayPal only 4.) Order the Carpaccio of Beef Tenderloin and thank me later
