Riviera Maya

The Riviera Maya is a stretch of Caribbean coastline on Mexico’s northeastern Yucatán Peninsula. It's known for its numerous all-inclusive resorts, such as those in the town of Playa del Carmen, and its long beaches. To the south, Tulum is home to yoga retreats and the preserved ruins of an ancient Mayan port city, perched on an outcrop above a white-sand beach.

Ancient Ruins
The Tulum Archaeological Zone is an ancient Mayan city situated on a bluff with a view of the Caribbean Sea. It was a significant trading port during the Mayan post-classic period, attracting both land and sea routes. The city's ruins offer stunning views and architectural wonders to explore.
Very awesome! It's so breathtaking and beautiful to see. Just trying to imagine the history in this area overwhelming. I highly recommend everyone to visit and experience. I'd say average 1-2 hours to see all the ruins, ready some historical data, and just take in the beautiful scenery.
Llorito Castanares Todd — Google review
Very nice and spacious. Ruins are preserved quite well and the views of the water and beach below are stunning. There are a few nicely cut out viewpoints for the ultimate photos. Oh! And many awesome iguanas posing for your photos and walking around minding their business. Great way to spend part of your day. ( there’s also guides around if you want the true historical tour )
Rodino Janowski — Google review
Interesting stop as part of a tour. Suggest a hard pass unless you find viewing the ruins a must see. Non stop vendors enticing you to stop for pics with monkeys, iguanas, or parrots. Oh, and don't forget the excruciating heat. Bring water, a fan and a quick ride back.
Christopher Martinez — Google review
Designated UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 . 600-800 year old Mayan ruins. A gem from Mayan history. Hire a guide who can provide you historical insights. Beautiful seaside property. Strategic coastal location aided trade and connections. Unique defensive walls and fortifications for protection of inhabitants.

This place is awesome. Step back in time to a different life. The tour guide’s are so knowledgeable and each one tells a little different story. The views are so beautiful. The beach was wonderful. We spent about an hour and a half walking around the ruins.
GREG SOUTHERN — Google review
A small set of ruins set up high on cliffs that provide a beautiful and dramatic view of the gulf. Stairs down to the beach are inaccessible now though. Absolutely worth a visit you can walk the entire complex in about 45 minutes maybe an hour if crowded. Several large buildings are very impressive though you cannot go into anything everything is at a distance. It will take longer to get in though. You absolutely want a local driver or a tour as there are multiple entrances and the rules change on a whim. Also expect a search of your vehicle by armed security or army. We went via private vehicle with a local driver (shout out to Edgar) who navigated everything for us with no issues but would have been lost on our own even with decent Spanish. You purchase tickets at a small trailer and then take them to the entrance line. While they say credit cards are ok I recommend pesos or dollars. In my opinion you do not need a tour guide at the site. Everything has placards in Spanish and English and most of the guides were just repeating what they said. Many wonderful photo opportunities. Pack water and use the restroom before you arrive as it will be dreadful hot/humid and there are no concessions bathrooms or souvenir shops anywhere on site. There are beaches outside the ruins that you can access separately, and nearby on the main road is a large tourist area with restaurants and shops.
Trey Tollison — Google review
A lovely set of ruins but with a few drawback to the experience. The ruins are impressive and the site itself well maintained. If you have a guide they will explain the history and point out some of the interesting architectural delights that is part of the Mayan ruins. Some of the sculptures are well maintained. To keep everything well maintained, the key buildings are roped off (only the local lizards can pass). That goes double for the local beach which is beautiful but inaccessible. One of the main reasons is the rubbish that littered it so beware that you won't be able to bring plastic bottles into the site. There's not much shade so bring a hat but the tour we were on wasn't that long. Outside the site, you'll find they are building a nice pathway to the ruins and there may be a wait to gain access. Where the car park is you'll find also the usual tourist shops, an original Mayan Starbucks and Hagan Dazs. It's probably best to come with a tour group just from a transport perspective as it doesn't look very accessible to those without the local knowledge. Still the ruins are impressive and it's a good half day out. Just was expecting a little more.

Tulum was beautiful. We visited as part of a tour and we think that is the best way to go if you want to learn more about the history. It is a popular attraction. I recommend going as early as you can to avoid crowds. Also note that it’s very hot and a bit of a walk. So wear a hat and comfortable walking shoes - I did neither and that is my only regret.
Amy Rash — Google review
Absolutely Fabulous, definitely a gorgeous historical site. If you care about the history I'd recommend reading up on it before visiting. The guides are well educated but they each decide which buildings and stories/histories to highlight so the more you know in advance the better. Bring plenty of water and an umbrella if possible. It was scorching in the beginning of our August visit. Requires about 15 of walking to get there and the grounds are not that big but wear comfy shoes. We were there for about an hour. Strongly suggest going and seeing the overlook of the Beach. The ground is uneven but it's easy as long as you don't have mobility issues.

Amazing place! Anyone who loves history, must come see this. Pay for the tour guide at the entrance. Every building, road, sign, picture, just about every stone has meaning behind it. It is just great to have someone tell you and story and meaning behind it.
edhem besirevic — Google review
I loved this place, which is very small, perfect to do two different activities in the rest of the day. My recommendation is to take a guided trip. You will understand and appreciate more the ruins if you know the maya history.
•••voltai•••• AR. — Google review
There are several things to consider, but those will depend whether you hired a tour previously or not, because there’s a parking fee, an access fee, and a tour guide (optional). I strongly recommend to use sunscreen, mosquito repelant, bring water and maybe an umbrella for those who burn easily.
Eber H. J. — Google review
We took the Tulum Express tour, and it was nice with direct hotel pick up and drop off. It was nice because we got to go and still have 1/2 the day. The view of the ocean and turquoise water is amazing!! We came early and it was already hot and didn't have to wait to get in, but as we left the line was almost a mile long to get in and was very warm. I recommend bringing lots of water, use the umbrella, and go early. It's worth the trip.
April Maxey — Google review
Very scenic. Crowded with street vendors at the parking lot entrance. Best with a guide for the facts on what you are looking. Federal property with tons of rules and authorizes on site enforcing them. Easy to stay on pathways and easy to navigate.
Ari Villafuerte — Google review
Great time. The tour of the ruins and the boat tour of the ruins was great. Advice: Don't bring plastic water bottles or you will have no water.
kyle rhubottom — Google review
The place is spectacular... First there's a 500m walk before entrance you can choose to take the "train" (a bus jungle styled) for 25 pesos round way. Even arriving early in the morning there's a lot of people but it doesn't take much time to get in. Theres a temperature check before tickets, then tickets which is not too crowded since most people have it in advance, and then the ticket check and you're in. You should take the tour following you're left side all the time, since this one will take you up to the breathtaking ocean views and you'll get to explore the whole place. It says is stroller friendly, it is not. You can so a smaller tour if in wheelchair or with a stroller without getting up up near the ruins. Outside you can find souvenir shops, restaurants and shops, shops, shops. Also people with costumes and some art to take pictures with. A must visit when in Tulum !
Alejandra Morales — Google review
✨Be prepared to be amazed and walk a lot 🚶🏼‍♀️I end up my day with 18k steps. To get the tickets 🎟️ you can buy them at the entrance for 85 pesos, there is also an option with a guide tour for 200 💸(I suggest that one - you avoid the long line). Purchase the water in the bookstore before to get in 💧you will need it. All the info ℹ️ an map 🗺️ can be found in the QR at the entrance. 🌂 Take a umbrella with you if possible to protect yourself from the sun ☀️. The ruins are next to the beach 🏖️ so the view is amazing. 🚶🏼‍♀️Near by you can access the Santa Fe Tulum beach 🌊 I got there walking from the ruins. Hope you find this useful ❤️
Vanessa C Moya — Google review
This place is amazing!! You really need a guided tour to explain all the history you are seeing! But it is a very long walk to get them and then a lot of walking inside so may not be great for anyone with children who can't walk all of that.
Janna Murphy — Google review
The view from the top of the plateau and the dramatic coastal landscape was more impressive than the ruins themselves. It’s worth a day trip from Cancun but I wouldn’t stay longer than a couple hours 👍
Jessica Lau — Google review
The ruins are gorgeous! If you're going to go into the park with a GoPro they will ask that you pay an additional fee to the park. I believe it was like 20 pesos or something? Not super expensive! I so highly recommend going here, it is breathtaking.
Christina Cola — Google review
A Scenic Marvel with Some Considerations The Tulum Ruins offer a unique combination of history and natural splendor, set against the backdrop of the stunning Caribbean Sea. The ruins themselves are impeccably maintained, a testament to the preservation efforts. However, I found that they didn't personally engage me as much as I had anticipated. What truly stole the show was the panoramic view of the Caribbean. It's nothing short of a masterpiece, with its turquoise waters and the rugged coastline creating a truly breathtaking scene. This alone makes the visit worthwhile. It's worth noting, though, that accessibility could be a factor for some visitors. The walk from the parking area to the ticket counter is quite long, and from there, it's another substantial trek to reach the ruins themselves. While the journey may be a bit taxing, the payoff at the end is undeniably worth it. For history enthusiasts, the Tulum Ruins provide an intriguing glimpse into the ancient Mayan civilization. The well-preserved structures and informative guides offer valuable insights into their way of life. However, for those seeking a more interactive experience, it might leave something to be desired. In summary, Tulum Ruins offer a captivating blend of history and natural beauty, with the view being the true highlight. Be prepared for a bit of a trek, but rest assured, the enchanting scenery at the end of the journey makes it all worthwhile.
Vinutha Goutham — Google review
Great experience long wait to get in but they are making a lot of improvements. Hopefully, that will remedy the situation. I think the main problem was all people with tickers were in a very long line, and those without walked past us to go to the front to buy tickets, then just merging into the line in front of us.
Leon Miles — Google review
Fantastic ruins of the Mayan people! Great tours are available that explain what each of the buildings are. More places are being excavated and the understanding of the culture keeps improving! I highly, recommend if you love learning about history
Juan Carlos Nieves-Perez — Google review
Definitely a very nice place to go. Located in a nice, cozy cove, this place is great to go to with a tour guide. Price is right on, and the wait is a bit hot but bearable. The whole experience, though, is very hot and warm. Additionally, they don’t allow plastic water bottles to cool off. Overall, very nice place to learn and explore Mayan history.
Harvey Shao — Google review
Archeological park definitely worth the visit. It should be around 530 Mexican pesos. You pay a surcharge if you want to use professional cameras. All around it is full of souvenir shops. The park is beautiful, as well as the ruins. The atmosphere recreated is really engaging. Better to go with a tour guide, or hire one on the spot.
Claudio Cafarelli — Google review
This was an awesome adventure to vist this world renowned archaeological site. It is just a short ferry ride and then drive to Tulum. It is definitely worth seeing. Remember it is hot here most of the year so stay hydrated. The staff here are very nice and professional and there is plenty of shopping at the entrance to the site.
Chris Lee — Google review
A must see site in the region. It takes about an hour to explore the ruins. Please be aware that plastic bottles are not allowed inside. There is very little shade. Please come prepared.
Dennis Bauszus — Google review
Very beautiful! No plastic bottles or food are allowed inside. Only reusable bottles and canned water (which they sell)
Jade Stark — Google review
Amazing, beautiful and lovely to see! Not as accessible as it could be. Ticket sales are annoying. Arrive on site, pay to park if needed (probably same cost as a taxi from town to the site). Pay a national park fee at a side booth. Go through security entrance. Walk a ways. Pay for an entrance ticket. Walk a ways. Hand your ticket over. Walk a ways. Explore the grounds up and down several stairs and slopes. We went without a guide, pausing near tour groups to hear info as we wanted. Loved seeing the amazing turquoise waters below the cliff side citadel and iguanas everywhere.

Water & Amusement Parks
Park
Xplor is an adventure park with zip-lining, amphibious vehicles, rafting, and underground rivers. It's one of the most visited theme parks in the world and is known for its exciting activities for adrenaline junkies. Admission includes transportation to and from the park, a meal, and unlimited drinks.
This place is absolutely amazing. We did the night time activity and it’s was totally worth the $105 dollars we spent. Parking was easy to find. Be prepared to walk and also bring a change of clothes. Water shoes are a must. We went during the week and it wasn’t too crowded. We got to do the rides several times. There is no bar there for obvious reasons but it was an amazing time. I can’t wait to go back.

This place is so much fun. Safe, clean, all inclusive environment. Awesome buffet menu & drink (juices) included. We want during the day and spend aprox 5 hours. Zip line was my favorite along with the semi underwater cave system.
Sem Brignoli — Google review
This place was beyond what I could have imagined. The exciting outdoor water activities, the zip-lining, and even the food was amazingly delicious. I had a wonderful time here and it was my first time. I advise everyone to purchase the bracelet for pictures and also the buffet. Staff was very friendly and professional. Zip-lining staff was on their A-game from the beginning, not some, ALL OF THEM. They were courteous, professional and they never stressed when the people piled up. I was really astonished by how well this theme park ran. The amount of memories I created here will be one I can remember forever.
Anthony Alvarez — Google review
Highly Recommended!! My visit lasted around 5 hours, and I must say it was time well spent. There's ample parking, and getting tickets was a breeze. Food and drinks were included in the price of the ticket, which is a fantastic bonus. Additionally, lockers are available to store your items, making it convenient and worry-free. One piece of advice: make sure to walk with your water shoes!! If you forget them, don't worry; some are available for purchase onsite. Overall, it was an amazing experience!
Kyla — Google review
Awesome park. The wait was minimal at two of the zip lines points. Time went by so fast because you're always moving, and before we knew it, it was lunchtime. The restaurant had a large selection of food and the best part, it was warm and delicious. And there are no words for the wait staff, I can only think of exceptional, and I still think it's not enough to describe these hard attentive workers. The same is said for the rest of the staff. The staff at the rides make you feel safe, always ensuring safety was carried out and ensuring that one was doing okay.
M Ruiz — Google review
This place is for people who would love to enjoy and explore stalactite caves lit up by beautiful lighting and surrounded by water. Swim, walk or boat in these caves, the experience is wonderful. There are also activities like zip lining, Driving jeeps and water slides. Definitely a must do.
David Leiner — Google review
Xplor is a definite - most do when you are in Cancun! It was absolutely accelerating and full of adrenaline. The food was also really good with a vast of amazing food and choices of a full bar. You do climb a lot to go to each zip line. Overall had the most amazing time.
OLLAM STUDIO — Google review
Visited with friends, had an amazing and fun time. Be aware that is crowded and there are long lines ouside of every activity. Great if you love zip lines and caves!! The underground waters are a must! Crystal clear and cold!! Food is great and they also offer lockers for your staff.

We visited this park at the end of September so we got experience this park to the fullest! There were little to no lines at any of the attractions here, we got to do every attraction at least twice. The entire park was so beautiful and amazing, I’m truly at a loss of words! - Buffet here was delicious. So many different items that were so amazing here so I cannot name them all, you just have to check it out and try them - The entire staff here was very helpful and friendly - Both zip lining courses were amazing - The ATV were an amazing experience. There’s two courses here, one of them is definitely way better than the other - The underwater caves left me at a loss of words. They were so beautiful - The hammock zip lining was cool. Nothing compared to the actual zip lining I’ll definitely be coming back to this park!

We spent a wonderful day!! Still in awe how well-managed everything is in the park. The stuff is always helpful, friendly and smiling at you. Whenever you go, you are always surrounded by the rainforest and beautiful scenery. The park is themed around caves and underground exploration. I have never before in my life had a swim or took a raft in the cave. So impressive! Tips wise: - bring your own water shoes - bring your own waterproof phone holder (700$ pesos in the park) - bring your own towels - go to the zip lines either the very first thing or the very last. It gets the most crowded around 10:00-10:30 am. - explore 2 routes with ATVs. The one with the departing station 1 and 2 is way cooler - try to buy the ticket in advance (at least 48 hours to get the discount) Underground expedition was a bit underwhelming. You just walk through the cave. If there is a queue, I would recommend doing other activities first like the raft and swimming. Unfortunately, during our visit TOBOGANXOTE (the water slide) was not open yet:(( Other than that, I would highly recommend spending the day with your family, friends or loved ones there.
Valeriya Kantueva — Google review
Wow! So much fun! We were hooked with the images at the resort of zipping through flames, and surprised to see a theme park built around a cave system. Too awesome! We felt safe, plenty to see and do, food was good, and it was an overall great experience! Unique and I would recommend!
Margaret Kidwell — Google review
Amazing experience. They have lovely activities like driving into jungle, swim in river and walk throw caverns. As a tip book your entrance in advance with 7 or 21 days, you will get 10-15% discount and do it from Xcaret website is the cheapest way and buy swimming shoes before getting there you will need it.
Bogdan Halinga — Google review
This place was sooo fun...it was an amazing experience. I got there just after the park opened and was able to do every experience as well as eat. My favorite experience was the jeep ride but everything else came in second because it was hard to choose. If you do ziplining be prepared for a lot of walking and climbing. The buffet offered a variety of different food and drinks which all were good. You definitely want to have water shoes and if you bring your own sunscreen it has to be biodegradable, they'll check the Ingredients on it and if contains certain things they'll hold it for you (you pick it up when you leave) and give you packets of biodegradable sunscreen to use. They give you a locker to use which is a decent size and the key is on a wristband that can withstand all the activities. I definitely recommend and can't wait to go back and try the night experience!
Shannon M — Google review
A fabulous day for all the family at Xplor. A very well organised place which flows seamlessly from one activity to the next. Very helpful and nice staff, especially Raul in the restaurant who had exceptional customer service. You will receive locker keys (lockers are small) and helmets. Bring your own towels and sea shoes. All activities are fabulous, particularly the ATV's and zip lining. Great selection of food In the restaurant too.
Clare Occomore — Google review
Absolutely worthwhile experience! All the activities were fun but I especially liked the zip lining, as you go through many different courses and eventually land to a water area. I really liked that the had two areas where you can have refreshments and cookies, and the buffet restaurant too. Provided a nice resting area before going with the next activity. One thing to note, they have restrictions on the sunscreen you can use, so be wary of that as they will take it and hold on to it while you're there.
Eric Dao — Google review
This is one of our favorite places when we come to the riviera maya! They have the best zip line circuit around and all the activities are well worth the admission price! Their buffet is the best we have had at any theme park and is included in the price. The park is very well planned out and i believe everything is posible to do in one day. Pretty soon the will have their next attraction ready to go, its a big slide that includes i believe 4 different slides
Mr Fregoso — Google review
Spending a good day there, lots of activities and quality of the services and food was good. Dont trust the colour sign about the activities, it shows red (busy) but nobody was there or shows green (not busy) many people were there. They tried to manage the time but giving you the not accurate spending time on the line. Better to start from one and follow the rest. If its a busy day you need to full day 9-5PM to be able to finish all activities. Be sure to have water shoes and comfortable swimsuits.
Hamidreza Khansari — Google review
Visited Xplor whilst on holiday in Cancun, I’d researched it prior to coming and we both knew we wanted to visit. We arrived through our transfer at 9 and was seen promptly, we were provided helmets & our locker key. Bring your own water shoes and waterproof phone case if you want to take photos. We did but saw they were selling water shoes for over $70 and phone cases for $50. As the park is go at your own pace we started with the zip lines, they were amazing, absolutely breath taking. My partner and I were able to go on them together too which was so much fun to do together. We then did the ATVs which were so much fun, the caves are magical. We then did all of the water activities, the rafts, the swim, and the underground expedition. Absolutely incredible. The swim through the waterfall was beautiful. The only one we didn’t enjoy so much was the rafts, a lot of people in front of us didn’t know how to use them and everyone was getting held up and bumped into. The lunch was also really good quality. You definitely work up an appetite so that was great, my partner was very happy. Our transfer didn’t come back until 4.30 but we were done with everything at around 2ish. It’s definitely worth it and we had such a memorable day out

Thrills, Adventure, and Unforgettable Moments at Xplor! Our day at Xplor was an absolute adrenaline rush, and our group of four had a blast navigating the various activities! From heart-pounding zip lines to off-road amphibious vehicle rides, the park delivered on its promise of excitement. While paddle rafting proved challenging for me, the other activities more than made up for it. A tip for future visitors: invest in the photo package at the entrance – it's a worry-free way to capture all your action-packed moments. It would be even better if they included the videos in the package rather than selling them as part of a higher tier. The lunch buffet was a delightful surprise – the food was amazing, and the staff across the park were not only wonderful but also incredibly helpful. We felt safe on every ride, adding to the overall positive experience. For future adventurers, I recommend starting your day with the exhilarating zip lines in the morning. Tackle all the circuits before moving on to the off-road amphibious vehicles. Opt for an early lunch, preferably before noon, to beat the crowds. Then, spend the remainder of the day enjoying the fantastic water activities. Xplor can be visit in one day for thrill-seekers, and with a bit of strategic planning, you're in for an unforgettable day of adventure!

The caves were awesome. The food at the buffet was fresh and very tasty. The hamock zip like was extremely fun, as well as all the other zip lines. The most fun we had was driving the amphibious buggies on two separate trails. It was well worth the money.

This place was awesome! We were on a cruise and we did an excursion to this park. The staff was friendly. The rides were fun and even though we were there for a short time everything was amazing. There were some sweet potato square pie bites that were life-changing and I'm sad that I'm never going to get to try those again.

This park was so amazing. It's worth the money. I recommend getting there early to be able to enjoy all the park has to offer. The food was great. The ziplines are really fun, I didn't think the were high adrenaline. More like very enjoyable. My favorite activity I think was the Underground Exploration. It combines different activities like walking swimming in the river, hike, obstacles, the slide was super fun. I recommed this park 100% next time I will do Xplor fuego.

Water & Amusement Parks
Xcaret Park is an amusement park located in the city of Playa del Carmen, just a few miles from Cancun. It offers attractions such as swimming and cave exploration, as well as a wide variety of animals to see.
Absolutely outstanding experience. From the original booking to the hotel pickup, to orientation, upgrade of our tickets, scheduling the many activities and getting through the day, everything was flawless, well organized. The park was very clean. Food at the buffet was outstanding. All staff was very accommodating and helpful. Attractions were easy to find, you luggage was hauled for you while you were swimming across the park. Even non-swimmer did perfectly well. Life vests, water shoes, snorkels, waterproof camera holders, everything was available on site. The animal encounters were adorable. The end-of-the night show was spectacular, 2 hours long and educational. The 7-course gourmet meal was a feast for the senses. I can't say enough. This is a must-have experience.

This park is definitely one of the best - it is so large it can be overwhelming but I'd still encourage anyone to take their time, just maybe make a plan. There is a ton to see and a heavy emphasis on Mayan culture and flora/fauna. Some of the exhibit areas were really well done - the aviary reminded me totally of Jurassic Park. Nice expansive gift shop at the end - great for a leisurely browse if you like that sort of thing. Warning once inside the prices are HIGH.. we got a fruit drink type thing and it ended up being about $14 CAD. Would come back if I was in the area - tons to do and lots of nice places to chill out and relax, or go on more adventurous things if you want. One star off as I just can't get behind the dolphin enclosure areas.. just seems cruel and they swim around looking quite depressed until it is time to work. Not my favorite thing to see. TIPS: Wear comfy shoes Bring sunscreen Bring a change of clothes They have lockers for swimming activities Bring a water bottle (or a few)
Nick Fuss — Google review
A bit disappointing. The park looks pretty and is well maintained, but it's a bit boring and mediocre at best. Basically it's like a zoo where you can swim and pay for some extra activities. The information (both on the website and on the park) is limited and incomplete. The staff is not very helpful. At the river entrance the staff member told us all 3 routes are the same, but that doesn't seem to be true. There are some animals, but not enough to make it an interesting zoo. There are some performances, but you have to be lucky find one at the right time. There are some other sights, but nothing that impressed us much. The food was good. No complaints about that! Overall it feels overpriced and you will still have to pay extra for pretty much everything. We've been to much better theme parks and zoos. Tip if you go: taxis are cheaper and faster than the official bus.

Absolutely a beautiful and joyful experience. There is no way to do everything in one day. We had the Plus ticket which included lockers, buffet choice from one of several restaurants and other plus access and activities. We got lucky with the perfect weather and a time when it wasn't overly busy. There is a huge parking area and parking is included. Everything is clearly marked and clean. When you present or get your new tickets the way into the park is clear and there are many employees ready to help you along the way with any questions. There are several colored paths you can choose to follow on the sidewalks as well as marked "road" signs. Stop and look at the large map posted to orient yourself and look at all the things you can see and do. There are several small shows, sites, displays, interactions to choose from. It's not possible to do everything in one day. You can also pay for add-on activities or purchase an upgraded ticket that includes added activities. We didn't and we still had time only to see maybe 1/3rd of this beautiful place. If you're interested, read about how this place got developed. It's fascinating. My advice is that you pick the paths and activities you want to accomplish roughly with leeway to stop here and there along the way when something catches your eye. One thing - always carry water. The place is huge and it's hot and you need to hydrate. You can buy bottled water and refill it at several marked stations throughout the park. I am posting some photos but honesty they hardly do this place justice. Yes, it's pricey but for the cleanliness, quality, safety, variety and beauty of this place we found it highly worth it and plan on returning.

What an amazing experience from them picking us up at our resort, to explaining the park on our way there. It was crazy busy the day we went but we still had so much fun. The underground river swim was spectacular and there are attractions along the route. There are animal exhibits which were cool. Our package included the lunch buffet which was better than some of the restaurants we went to in Playa. It was a great experience and would do it again.

Stunning resort with plenty to do, although additional activities comes with an additional price tag. Paid extra to swim with the dolphins and do sea trek. Long day with lots of walking, good food selections available, show at the end (7-9pm) felt extremely long after being there for 12 hours, however entertaining and worth seeing. Transportation included, picked us up from the hotel and straight back no issues. Staff are kind and helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you can keep up with all the walking!

I can't say enough about this place. There is so much to see and do for all ages. There is a lot of walking so I would suggest comfortable shoes and if you intend to do the water activities I would bring water shoes because the reefs are very sharp. They let you bring in your own food and drinks as well as your own snorkeling equipment. I would suggest doing this if you are on a budget because the food drinks and Equipment can get quite expensive. Another thing I would suggest is to make sure you take a lot of your own pictures. A waterproof camera would be a great idea. The picture packages are also quite expensive.
Jacquie Bradshaw — Google review
BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! The show at the end is worth watching. You will NEVER regret visiting here!! It is a big park so if you Plan on visiting make sure you wear comfortable shoes. If you need a stroller for your little ones, they have areas to rent strollers for the day. This is and ALL DAY activity from 7ish AM until 9PM. Visited this park on the last day of our vacation. This would be perfect for those folks with kids. It’s built mainly around 3 rivers that run through the park. If you are not planning to enter the river, then you might feel that the entrance fee is too expensive as the land activities are not that great. There’s an aviary and a butterfly pavilion which were nice. There was a horse show which was nice. The espectacular night show was amazing and beautiful performances by all the artists. Would definitely recommend staying for this show. Overall, the entrance fee seemed pricey for what the park offers.

Definitely a must see and an absolutely great experience! The underground river is a fun way to explore and travel, as there's checkpoints where you can stop if you want to leave early. It's a very big location, so definitely a lot of walking but it has different areas which are themed and offer different things to see. One of the best highlights and something you shouldn't miss is the show at the end, as they tell a great story about their past history and how their culture has evolved to what it is today.

Wonderfully fun! Get the photo package it is worth it! So many fun activities to do, unfortunately not enough time to do them all. Looking forward to another visit in the future. We went early to avoid the wait, but there was a huge line behind us by the time we had our activities booked. Go as early as possible and book your activities right away before they fill up!

This place was amazing. There is the underground river which is probably an hour? I don't know if went by really fast. Tons of beautiful sites to see, birds, ruins, monkeys. We had a blast on a day pass. I want to stay there sometime for several days just to get to really enjoy it.

What a fun experience! We chose to do two extra cost activities and swam with stingrays and nurse sharks. Awesome activities which allowed some hands-on time with the animals. Make sure you are changed into your swim wear before you show up for your appointed time. The aviary was incredible and filled with tons of birds. Side note, many employees spoke fluent English, which was incredibly helpful for us. Bring a waterproof phone case for your phone, cash, I.D. and receipts - they do sell them at the park. Bring coral safe sunscreen.

The night show is a must... it was really spectacular. The day activities are fun as well, especially seeing some special animals and fishes. The inclusive lunch is tasty. You will need more time to go through all activities available. However as a nature person, i would prefer just to see the night show and spend the day in the ocean instead of in a water park. If you have kids and teens, this place is perfect to spend entire day.

Loved this park and cannot wait to go back! It was adventure, culture and sooooo much to do. I definitely needed to stay for a few days but I went as part of a cruise excursions and it just wasn't enough time. My guide Javier was AMAZING! He's so kind and helpful. I love their idea for a picture package, but I wish that I would know where they would be so I can prep. Lots of my pictures were no good but still a phenomenal experience. Already planning a trip in the next few years to stay longer.

Loved this place! Really wasn’t sure what to expect before going but it’s a really huge theme park that you can easily get lost in. It’s massive. We spent all day there and I feel like we only scratched the surface of what there is to see and do. Make sure if you go, you make it a whole day and stick around for the big show at night. It was incredible. Little bit of music and dance from every region in Mexico with a lot of history. Going way back to Mayan times. I’d go again in a heartbeat and I’d also like to check out some of their other parks.

As an American tourist, I wasn't sure how my visit here would go but it seemed like everyone spoke Spanish and English fluently and were exceptionally helpful when trying to find the next best activity. I've never been anywhere like Xcaret and WOW they definitely deserve all the high praise they get. My husband and I really appreciated how easy everything was. Maps are plentiful along the paths, the paths are physically marked as the color they are on the map, and there are so many unique things to do here! Highly recommend the SeaTrek, also the dolphin experience if that's your kind of thing. FYI the photos from the Dolphin Experience are more expensive then I thought they would be, but we still splurged on it. Speaking of photos, the photo pass for the park is 100% worth it. They really streamlined the process of taking magical photos and it's really not THAT expensive for how many great shots you can get with just a scan of the wristband. Highly recommend this place and will hopefully be back to explore more of the park! If you can, try to get more then one day here, there are just way too many things to see and experience! PS: make sure you have a waterproof phone case, your swimsuit, and at least one change of clothes. Most activities involve getting wet or honestly it's just real humid so being able to change helps considerably.

Very clean and beautiful natural environment. The part where the birds are is very beautifully designed. Be sure to try the part where you can wear a mask and see the fish underwater. But if there were more colored fish, it would be more attractive.

For kids and adults, this place is absolutely amazing. Very well laid out, the kids' park is extremely safe & fun. Made me wist adults were allowed to use it. The buffet was awesome, and animals are super cool to see. The butterfly sanctuary is beautiful as well. All around, I highly recommend the as your go-to place if you have never been.

Simply amazing!!! This is such a beautiful place to visit. The unground river you can float in, I loved seeing the butterflies, the sea turtles and dolphins The buffet. I highly recommend visiting here if you are in the area. I also would recommend getting the plus pass. It will include the buffet.

One of the best attractions I’ve ever been to (and I’ve traveled extensively around the world). The best way I can describe is: if Dubai + Disneyland had the perfect child: organized, clean, entertaining for the whole family, and most importantly, with its own personality. You can easily spend the whole day there from opening to closing. The food was great (vegan tacos were surprisingly delicious) and there are (free) drinking water fountains everywhere🙏 Lots of clean bathrooms too! The night show is top notch, simply a must! The park is accessible to wheelchair users and disabilities such as hearing. I do have ethical issues with the activities involving swimming with dolphins and sharks but those are optional. Medical attention is quick and effective (my 75 year old father got low blood pressure and he has very pleased with the assistance).

Heard so much about this place and it is INCREDIBLY AMAZING!!! Our tour guide was so organized and we got in and just had an amazing time from the moment we laid our eyes on this gorgeous place. We had the buffet and it was so good, I tried a little bit of everything and just wish i could have eaten more! The swim in the cave was incredible, albeit my anxiety was a little high swimming with 2 little ones, but there are guides along the way and lifeguards throughout the way. The scenery was beautiful but the most amazing part was the show at the end and the delicious food we were served during the presentation. I would love to come back here because we didn't even see half the grounds even though we spent all day here. Definitely recommend!! We had a 1 year old, 3 year old and 15 year old who all had a great, great time!

I would definitely recommend if you come with kids and with a full tank of energy. This park is a 12+ hour day of activities. There is lots to do and to discover but also keep in mind that you will have to buy lunch and dinner, so keep lots of extra money for the day. Also, a lot or should I say most of the fun activities like in water walking and snorkeling are extra. So visiting this park will definitely keep you entertained but can also leave a hole in your pockets.
Marissa Bergeron — Google review
It was a very refreshing experience! A well maintained wildlife park. No funny smells (which is understandable if there was), fun exhibits, cute photo ops and cool activities to do! The final show was absolutely stunning! The lazy river however dint have tubes so it felt like a little bit of a work out. I would avoid if you don’t know how to swim because the support rope is discontinued in some areas. Im 5’3 and I couldn’t stand at any point. It does take all day to check out everything, so I suggest reaching the park early like around 9-10 AM. It definitely is a must visit! I highly recommend it! It can be a cute date idea and also a fun big group trip!

Very good theme park to visit, around 30 minutes away from Bahia Principe area. Getting in is very easy if you come early, around 5 minutes before it actually opens. The whole experience was very exotic and beautiful. Recommend the underground river first thing. Pretty dark at some times, and many of them to choose from, including one with ropes to swing from in the dark areas. Maps are easy to understand after that, with the whole park split into sections. Buffets are all around the place, in case you need a quick bite. Extra activities are about as expensive as Xel-Ha’s other activities, like the swimming with sharks. Mayan city exhibit features different natural and Mayan wonders. Truly a good place to end the day off. Beaches are nice, and snorkeling is very interesting, only it’s pretty popular, so you won’t see much fish in the crowded areas. Price is a bit expensive but acceptable, so just a nice place to go to on a day off.

Brought my twin 13yo kids for their first time on 3/14/24 and they had the best time! We arrived at 11am and regret not arriving earlier because there’s so much to do. I’d recommend that you do all the water activities first, enjoy the free buffet then walk around and explore. There’s a huge lazy river with multiple entrances so you can take different routes to the exit. It’s quite a long swim so be prepared. There’s also a zoo, aquarium, ruins and much more sight seeing to do. You can buy tickets in advance for a small discount off, but the best deal you’ll get is at the airport. You’ll have to attend a sales meeting at Xcaret hotel but their team is kind and you get a free buffet. I ended up buying the membership and would advise that if you’re going to buy then don’t take the first deal they offer you lol.

A great experience for the whole family. Float in the senotes, swim in the ocean, visit all the tropical birds, catch the best show at night, and splurge on dolphin experience. Bring some cash and a waterproof phone case for sure. Arrive early. We paid for the photo pass which made the experience more fun for sure!

Beautiful shopping area with tons of shops and restaurants. If you see the guys dressed up in costumes, they are scam artists. Got $20 using slight of hand so one picture was $30 USD. Shame on me
Ides of March B — Google review
La Quinta Avenida or the 5th Avenue is probably the most famous street in Playa del Carmen. No cars are allowed to drive through, making it a perfect spot to walk along this street. That's the best part of it - you don't need to bother much about the rest. It's a street just made for mass tourism. The 5th Avenue is packed with tourists which is not bad in general. The most annoying part is that you can't walk 3 steps without getting people talk to you, trying to lure you into their restaurants, shops or trying to sell you their service. Honestly, it is impossible to just enjoy the walk and have a conversation. Those people are so persistent that they try anything to slow you down and get you into a conversation. And if you just ignore them, they become very rude, insulting you in Spanish - or sometimes even in English. Totally annoying! So at 5th Avenue you can't enjoy a walk, neither can you enjoy restaurants. The prices in those restaurants are extremely high, but the quality is ridiculously low. Some restaurants try to scam you by adding random items on your check, others just add a self-given tip. So be careful, when eating out and be prepared that quality wise you might get dissapointed. Quinta Avenida is a must do in Playa del Carmen. But it is important to understand that this street is just made for mass tourism and probably does not represent the Mexican culture nor way of life. Be aware that you are going to spend a lot of money there. Everything from souvenirs to food is more expensive than any other place at Playa del Carmen.

I mostly did not love this street. It is fun to people watch here and there is a lively vibe. That being said, there is lots of hard selling here and being nudged by all the local shops to come in. There is also very expensive and not so local shops on this place. Great place to catch a glimpse for a few minutes but can skip this too.

This place is a 100% tourist destination but unfortunately in the recent months there’s been an increase in military presence and it’s scary to know that unfortunately cartels are running their unwanted trade in this part of Mexico. Not good
Texas Pride — Google review
Personally I love the street it’s July 2022 you can find everything from like the shopping mall which has public restrooms that are clean, souvenir stores, fun little activities walking distance to the beach. And it’s pretty clean and full of tourist so I felt safe. NEGOTIATE all your souvenirs though definitely try overcharging for example my friend got her hair braided and one was charging 400 pesos and the other was charging $450 pesos. My other friend also wanted to get a baby suit and the first lady had quoted her 450 pesos and I thought that was too much and then the last dude quoted her 800 pesos we ended up getting it for 350 pesos. There was just one dude walking around saying weed while coughing so I think that’s probably where people get drugs as well.

Great street! Be aware: If you are partaking in an all inclusive resort and you are identified by a wristband your " waiter" whose face you won't remember and your genuine desire to be respectful will be preyed upon. Your waiter who you just reconnected with will want to share with you his grandfather's jewelery shop that just had its grand opening. Crazy coincidences happen in 5 Av.a q

Ecological park
The cenote is a freshwater cave system with natural pools and stalactites that's best explored on a snorkeling tour, located about 15 minutes from Playa del Carmen.
We paid $80 USD for two people. Our guide was Oto and our tour was 2 hours. The water is cool and crystal clear. We saw catfish and bats, and even monkeys as we walked between cenotes. It wasn't really an underground river, more of a regular cenote, but beautiful nonetheless. We learned a lot about the local beliefs and ecosystem and had a wonderful time exploring.

This was great and fun trip! We loved it and enjoyed it! Strongly recommend doing this as an excursion if you are in Mexico! Our tour guide was great and the water felt amazing! We also seen a few monkeys on our way in and out!! My wife and I enjoyed it his a lot was educational and a great thing to see and do in person!

This cenote is a MUST SEE! It is mystical and beautiful, and almost completely underground! The stalactites and stalagmites were magical (and musical!) The guide was very knowledgeable and fun, and definitely needed! I would highly recommend a visit here, and get the photo package!

Definitely one of the best cenotes or sinkholes, I highly recommend this experience!!! This requires you to pay for a tour, 800 pesos per person, it's totally worth it. You get to snorkel in the underground cenotes and have a nice time. If you get cold easily, get the wet suit, the water is nice, but 23-24°C , so you might not enjoy it if you can't handle it. I suggest you brought your own beach shoes.
Keren Amaya S — Google review
Very nice facility with showers and lockers. Swimming in the cenote was incredible a must-do for anyone visiting. Swimming is easy even for Nam swimmers because they give you a water ski type life vest which allows you to Bob on the surface while you snorkel. The water was perfect temperature, clean and clear. The caves are visually stunning.

Jest amazing, a great experience Swimming and snorkeling through caves millions of years in creation. Words and pictures can't describe how they look and feel, but they are a must do when in the Yucatan. The amazing Mexican lunch afterward was one of the best lunches I have ever had, and I'm a chef. Staff and guides are amazing, smart and well trained

Favorite experience while staying in Playa! Our guide Emmie was professional, informative and patient with my initial apprehension entering these underground waterways. You’ll go into caves, there are bats around but they didn’t come near us and a few (blind) catfish, we didn’t run into anything else so I relaxed quickly. The tour has you walk, wade and swim through clean and silent caverns of mineral water with beautiful stone stalagmites hanging from above. It really was “otherworldly”. Def the unique peaceful nature immersion we were looking for while in Mexico

One of the top vacation experiences of my life and I've had many. I wish I had more time in the caves. Abel our tour guide was awesome and went out of his way to accommodate us. We called ahead of time and let them know we wouldn't arrive until 1 hour after they closed and he still waited for us. He is very knowledgeable about the cenote and used humor here and there to keep us entertained. Even though we were well past closing he gave us the VIP treatment and never rushed us out. The one hour and 40 minute tour went by in a blink. Not only was he our guide but our personal photographer...he took amazing pictures of us and the cenote as we were swimming in the water. What can i say about the cenote...amazingly breath taking...look at the pictures of the caves, it speaks volumes. Don't think about it, just do it, I promise, you won't regret it.

Absolutely amazing experience!!! The water was cool but crystal clear. The deep parts did not seem deep at all. They give you life jackets and flashlights. They will have everyone turn them off at some point during the tour so you can see how dark the cave is and it's incredible! It's just outside Playa del Carmen by about 15 minutes and it's only $50 a person plus tip and tour is just over an hour long. The guides really do work hard and are very informative about the cenotes and give you a great in depth personal experience. I highly recommend this place.

Although I did not go in, I spent time checking it out before picking up friends. The entrance price is quite high considering there are many other cenotes to choose from. Not suitable for anyone with mild mobility issues, The mosquitoes were plenty and plenty hungry too. Taxi is the only way to get out there by public transport. The cost is anywhere from 600- 800 peso one way. Very expensive. My advice, skip it. Your tourist dollar can do much better.

I had the most incredible experience on this tour. I ended up getting a private tour with Bohish and Paolo. The information that was provided was outstanding. We went slow and I had so much time to explore and swim. I also got a quiet moment for some meditation. The team here is suberb and very friendly. One of the best tours hands down. This Cenote is breathtaking. I was in awe the whole time. Thank you for an incredible experience!

My family of seven liked it. The tour takes you through two caves and swimming through them. We visited on a Tuesday at 11:30 and waited 35 minutes for the next tour to start. We liked the personal history but my kids wanted to do more swimming. Life vest, goggles and water shoes are included. We spent about 2.5 hours there. No cell phones are allowed in the caves or swimming. They sell you the digital photo 1 photo (500 pesos). The staff was friendly, the bathrooms were clean and they accepted credit card.

My friend and I really enjoyed this place!! Highly recommend. They were very professional and organized from start to finish and we felt very comfortable there. The gear was great. At first we were worried about the size of the tour and how many people were with us (about 25), but our guide Angelo handled it beautifully and still made it feel like a private small group experience. He seamlessly switched between Spanish and English, which actually served as a great language learning experience. We also learned so much more than we expected about the cave system and its history. The tour was longer than expected and we went to several different rooms and caves. Very high value for our money. Angelo has a wonderful, welcoming, and personable attitude and we loved our tour with him! :) The caves were gorgeous.

Great experience I highly recommend:) Easy to take a taxi from playa del carmen. Used whatsapp to get taxis number to text when we were done with our tour too. They give you goggles, water shoes, and a life vest. I was pleasantly surprised how much of the tour you get to swim!! Lots of bats, spiders and saw monkeys too. Our guide shared a lot of geographic knowledge and touched on the Mayan cultural beliefs too! We had a blast! I recommend for those that wear glasses to wear contacts for the day, as I had a hard time with the goggles. Also, consider bookin online- there is an option if you book 3 days in advance it can include a pickup and drop. The taxi was $80usd round trip. They also charge an extra $50 for the pictures from the tour (no phone allowed). They arent the best pics, but worth it for the memories. Enjoy your experience!!!

The cave system is really neat. Itself, was a cool experience. The drop in stars is for how the place is run. Disorganized is an understatement. We had a great guide but he was alone with a group of probably 25 people, including many children. He was responsible for handing out equipment (shoes, goggles, life vests, locker keys), and also signing a paper waiver, while other guides that finished their tours walked around. We had to wait for every reservation in our group for their photo shoots at two locations in the tour. It took us 3 hours to do the tour, because moving 25 people and kids with one person providing direction in tight spaces is insane. They need to overhaul their reservation system so that you can see how many are reserved for the time slot you're booking. Otherwise, we would have went at 3pm that had a group of only 4 people.

Hartwood is an open-air Mexican restaurant in Tulum that specializes in wood-burning grill cuisine and is located off the grid. The restaurant is famous for its unique atmosphere and perfect service.
Food could have been half the size and twice the price and it would have still been worth it. The Ribs are the best I have ever had. Service was impeccable. We had at least 10 different people at our table at various times during our stay to take care of us. Honestly may have been my best restaurant experience I have ever had. Kudos to you guys and your staff.

We went here for my husband's birthday and everything was perfect. The vibe of the place is very cool, outside with low lighting and light music. It was bustling with energy without being noisy or too much. The food is what you come here for and it did not disappoint, surpringly we love the corn ice cream as desert the most as well which we were not expecting. Service was great we never waited too long for a drink or the next bite. Highly recommend.

The food was incredible, especially the starter of prawn with fermented pineapple sauce! We also loved the beetroot with avocado cream. The waiters were very amiable and offered helpful recommendations. The portions were huge — we ordered 2 starters, a 2 mains, and side for 2 people and it was too much! Only 4 stars because the host was rude and aloof. We arrived and he just told us “stand here” without explaining anything. We waited for about half an hour, before asking a kind waitress who helped us out and brought us some drinks while we waited. I would give 5 stars if they improve the welcome process, as it was seriously off-putting.

By far THE best restaurant we went to in all of Tulum. The food is spectacular and the portions are huge (I would have been fine paying the same price for half a portion). The tropical ceviche was amazing, I think it was the best ceviche I had in my entire life and I’ve had many for sure. It had the perfect balance between the acidic and the sweetness coming from the coconut milk. It was beautifully presented in a coconut and came with delicious tropical fish. You could tell that the fish was fresh. We then had the octopus and the pork costillas with Yucatán honey and just WOW. The whole night we had the wow effect as we received an explosion of flavors in every single dishes. The octopus was perfectly cooked and just grilled so you could enjoy its whole taste. The pork ribs were so soft they melted in my mouth and you could pull them off super easily. The honey coating was amazing and well balanced, not too sweet. And finally, (as we didn’t know how big portions were) we had aubergines on the side and they were beautifully cooked and seasoned. We had 1 entree and 2 mains but I think one of each for two is more than enough as we were feeling so full at the end. We finished off with a corn ice cream and another spot on dish and it was perfect to finish our meal / digest and its taste was original and very different from what we are used to - we loved it! Thank you so much Hartwood for such a great culinary journey!!

Amazing food, drinks, and vibe! We had the tropical ceviche (AMAZING), grouper, octopus, beet, and salted honey cake. We could have done without the beet, but everything else was mind blowing. We walked in around 5:30 on a Wednesday and didn’t need to wait. Our server excitedly shared that they take cards, but to our surprise didn’t disclose the 5% fee. Luckily we noticed it on the check and grabbed cash. I thought the service could have been better, but all around an incredible experience and meal.

Never thought I’d love a woodfire fish so much! We had the Mero Mariposa. This is a big thing for me to say since fish isn’t my favorite. The surprising big star was the Beets, amazing! These are a must. Highly recommend this place to anyone in Tulum, would happily come back. On the not so great side, and as a recommendation. The cocktails were ok but not great, I had 3 of them, they were too pricey and ended up feeling I would’ve preferred wine or beer with the meal. Overall the restaurant shines on the food but feels too pricey for the comfort it offers: bench seats, tables too close together, and it felt very very hot, even at night. For $170 (for dinner for two) it’d be great if the experience was improved on the comfort level. I do expect more at this price point.

Incredibly fresh seafood and environment. Their menu changes depending on what’s available locally. We go their fish cheek appetizer and can say was definitely a dish I’ve never had before. Melt in your mouth texture and blow your mind flavors. Would say their appetizers were the highlight of the meal and the mains were good but lacking a little more flavor. A must try if you’re in Tulum!

Beautiful dinner! We had the fish neck, gambas as starters and highly recommend both. Main was catch of the day with tomato salad. Tomatoes were great but towards the end getting too salty. All cooked in open fire grill it was brilliant. Atmosphere was lovely, visited tulum during low season but this place was packed! Recommend booking in advanced

This was the only fine dining we did in Tulum and it would stack up anywhere I’ve eaten in the world. It was pricey (about $150 USD per head) but that’s including a few nice bottles of wine and we definitely got our money worth. The seafood was the best I had in Mexico and everything was insanely fresh

The grilled fish here is amazing. Price is not low, but the quality is great. The Mayan prawns come with a sauce of peanuts and pineapple which is very creamy and smooth. The octopus was grilled to perfection and finished in the wood oven, and had the perfect texture and crispiness. Leave some space for dessert; the honey and chamomile cake was a great ending to the meal. You can see the cooks at the back cooking everything directly on the fire, and if you go there late enough in the evening, the atmosphere is very nice, with soft dim lights and candles around.

As others have said, this place is definitely a splurge, but so worth it. The best octopus I've ever had, and an amazing whole grilled fish (mero de mariposa). Their honey pie dessert with chamomile cream was also unbelievably delicious. Really beautiful outdoor setting and you can see the chefs cooking on the open fire. Great, attentive and knowledgeable service. Recommend bringing water as it's nearly 200pesos for a bottle, and be aware that they automatically add 18% service (which we were happy to pay). We'll remember this meal for a long time!

Visited Hartwood in December to celebrate a birthday. Upon arrival, we were greeted and told to wait at the front along with +10 others who were also waiting for their table. We waited almost 40 mins for our table even though we had a reservation but we saw people get seated just walking in. We were able to order drinks while waiting but ended up finishing our drinks before we were even seated. There also seemed to be some confusion on who our server would be so it took a while to place our orders. Once we ordered, the food arrived quickly and was sensational. The flavours and presentation were amazing and were so unique- our favourite was the fish collar. Overall, the food was fantastic but service at the front could be more organized as it would have made the experience better.

The food was absolutely amazing. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey. But I feel that it was well worth it. Our waiter was very attentive and did a fantastic job describing the entire menu. We got the tostados with raw tuna mix on top and tropical ceviche with raw red snapper. Both were amazing. The sauce on the raw tuna was a great start to the meal. The citrus sauce in the ceviche was refreshing as well, and I could literally drink the broth from how good it was. For the entree, we got the grilled red snapper filet with grill mix vegetables. It had great flavor. One comment would be in reagrds to deboning the snapper a bit better. I had 4 bones in the filet. The beet with avacado crema is a must. It is one of their signature dishes, and it was one of the best thing I ate there. For drinks, we got the passion fruit mezcal margarita. Really good balance and flavors.

A very popular mexican fusion restaurant with an interesting menu. We was lucky to get seated before closing time during the off season with very little wait as we didn't book in advance. The dishes and cocktails were amazing.

Had dinner here yesterday. Nice ambiance and really good and friendly service. The food was really good. We had the gamba’s and tostada as appetizers. Especially the gamba was very tasty!! Afterward we had ribs and red snapper. The ribs were extremely tender and tasty. My husband loved it. The honey pie for dessert was also perfect. Not too sweet. the food just comes very quickly and therefore do not expect a long evening out but this appears to be a cultural thing. Cocktails were very tasty and the waiters really help you with your food and drink choices. Lovely evening!

We had dinner at Hartwood last night and it was nothing short of incredible. Our server Cassandra was so lovely and really helped guide us and curate our dinner. The Gambas were LIFECHANGING. The cocktails were incredibly delicious and so well crafted. We ended up swapping our seats for a spot at the bar because they were so fun and nice. It did take us a bit of time from our reservation time to actually start our service but we sat at the bar and enjoyed our cocktails. The ambiance is lovely. The food is on the more expensive side but we found it well worth it for the entire experience. Can’t wait to return and enjoy Hartwood again.

Cozy outdoor seating. The food was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend the roasted beet. Everything was really good and the staff did a great job. Thank you to the host for making it work, even when we were wayyy past our reservation time. Best restaurant in Tulum hands down.

Amazing place! I emailed the restaurant couple of days before my trip to Tulum and was in luck, getting a reservation for a Saturday night. Place is rustic and plain, cocktails were great and service was attentive and cordial. In terms of the food, the dishes we had were very interesting mix of flavors and textures, some items I’ve never even heard of. All local, all fresh, lots of flavor. Highly recommended, but book in advance. Would I qualify as the best meal of the trip? Maybe, but then again Tulum has great places so it’s hrs to tell. You will find things you won’t find in other places though and that alone is worth the experience

If I was choosing my last meal on earth, Hartwood would be hard to overlook. Hartwood is certainly one of the most flavorful restaurants in the world - the only other that delivers the same level of flavor is, (Michelin Starred) Gymkhana in London. Im certain everything on the menu would be delicious, as everything we had was good enough to fall on the floor in joy. Ill be back :)

If you're looking for Mexican street food, Tres Galeones is a good option. It's authentically delicious and has great atmosphere. The prices are also reasonable.
The best Mexican food we've tried! Very unique serving and delicious food! Service with the soul. Love this place. Heads up they add tips automatically (apr.15%) but it is worth it. This is shrimp soup

Seriously good! Really good value, delicious food and drinks and great vibe. We had two mescalitas and a ceviche for I think 350 pesos as a deal. There was an amazing band too plying great jazz to a small intimate group of us. Would highly recommend!

Great atmosphere, food and drinks. Tacos with fish and octopus were incredible. Tuna steak also very solid. 2x1 happy hour price for delicious mezcal margaritas until 9 pm - dangerous.

Absolutely love it! We went in just for drinks, the Mojito and Rising Sun were delicious. We decided to get some dessert and chose the ice cream with fried pancake and ugh it was just so good. The staff were also lovely :)

Cute seafood and drinks spot with the vibe of “Old Tulum”. Great seafood taco options and spicy sauces. Fun place with cute decor. Service of just 1 server for a busy restaurant was stretched thin but friendly and helpful.

This place is so so good ! The number of reviews don’t do justice to this place. Authentic, delectable, appetising, exquisite! Overuse of adjectives to emphasise how good the food really is. Don’t miss this. It’ll be worth it! Also, one the places that does really good seafood tacos.

To sum it up: just try it ! Very good cocktails and very good food experience! The fusion between Mexican, Peruvian and Japanese tastes makes a very fine menu ! We were 7 and everything we tasted was good ! Also the staff was very nice with us ! One of the best food experience in tulum for a fare price 😋 Merci !

Arrived when they opened and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed which felt nice with the sea and ship theme. The service was a little long but I didn't mind because of how relaxing the atmosphere was. The tacos were delicious, my favorite was the shrimp. Definitely a spot to check out if you're looking for fish tacos or specialty / different tacos.

If you're looking for a sophisticated and delicious dining experience, Le Chique is the perfect spot. The food is exceptional, and the wine pairing adds an extra layer of flavor. The waitstaff and sommelier are attentive and make sure everyone has a great time.
Unbelievable experience! The mail here was comparable to any Michelin star restaurant meal I've had. The presentation for every single dish was fun and innovative. Food takes you on a journey around Mexico, presenting you with ingredients and presentations most tourists will not have encountered. And the menu is jam packed with high end ingredients; foie gras, bone marrow, oysters, caviar, sweetbreads, truffle, beef tongue, days-long moles, fresh made tortillas, local chocolates . . . the list could go on and on. The wine pairing was a worthy add-on as well. Only downside of going to this restaurant is that if you are not staying at this resort, getting to the restaurant is outrageously expensive, and will add a significant amount to the total cost of an already pricey experience if you don't have your own transportation. Not a fault of the restaurant though, a fault of the corrupt taxi system in Mexico.
Emily Schmidt — Google review
Truthfully the worst tasting food we have ever had in our lives… The visual aspect is phenomenal and you won’t see anything else like this. But the food tastes absolutely awful. I am all for trying new foods and experiencing other cultures, but this was beyond bad. We looked around and people at other tables were gagging trying the food as well. We paid $110 USD/person for the 20 course tasting, and you could not pay us to go back. 10/10 do NOT recommend. Spend your money elsewhere.

The exceptional experience of this restaurant was beyond expectations. From the first taste to the last, my mouth was doing cartwheels!!! I can honestly say I was not disappointed by a single bite from the 20 servings. Upon seeing the first serving I was skeptical about receiving enough to eat as each portion is a single bite, some two bites to be polite with a mouthful. But, there was a bite or two left at the end of dessert as we were all stuffed. The timing of each serving was perfect and gave your palate time to savor each morsel before the next. Our “waiter” for lack of term, was lovely and knowledgeable as he explained in perfect English every detail of each dish. This was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it.

This restaurant is amazing. The best fine dining experience in Cancun. They have some of the most beautiful presentation for their dishes that I have ever seen and it was all delicious and unique. That being said if you are a picky eater or have texture issues this may not be the place for you. But if you are open minded and enjoy complex flavors this place is must! Make sure you make reservations well ahead of time. It’s nearly impossible to get in last minute.

Outstanding presentation, flavor development, and combinations. The service and explanation of each dish was a fun journey through México. We did the Mexican wine pairing, which was excellent. This was our 3rd Le Chique visit.

So we were not staying at Azul. We were staying on Isla Mujeres and I did some research into the best restaurants in the Cancun area. I decided to make a reservation at Le Chique even though we had to take a $30 ferry and $70 cab to get there and back. We were notified a couple weeks prior that there would be guest chefs the night that we booked our reservation. I was fine with that as it was my birthday and I figured it would be an even more memorable experience. Well, the entire experience was above and beyond anything I could have expected. First we arrived and were treated like guests. Given free drinks while we waited for our reservation, multiple people checked on us multiple times offering more drinks. Once we were walked to the restaurant I was blown away. They gave us the best seat in the house for my birthday. We were seated in the Dom Perignon wine room. Again... we were not staying at the hotel, we did not pay extra. They just recognized it was a special occasion and took care of us because it's what they do. THE SERVICE...Holy hell. Amazing. The food... Spectacular. There was not a particular flow where one dish led to the next. Instead each bite kept you on your toes and led to question after question for the waitstaff who just got the menu yesterday. Please go with an open mind and enjoy this rare culinary experience. This is a true food meets art experience and when it's all over you will wish you could go back tomorrow and do it all again!

Amazing multi-sensory culinary experience! Every dish was perfect both in terms of presentation and taste. The wine tasting is definitely worth it as it fits well with the dishes and adds something extra to the experience. Our waiter and sommelier did an amazing job taking us through our menu. Special thanks to our fantastic waiter who accompanied us from and to the lobby to get our taxi and who made our whole dining experience very enjoyable! At the end we even got a tour of the kitchen to meet the people behind those incredible Michelin-quality dishes. This is probably my favorite restaurant in the world!

A 20-course fine dining experience for a little over $100 usd is a pretty good deal imo. However, it is only worth it if you can eat a lot because only then you will be able to enjoy all the food. First off, we get a mezcal cocktail with some popped jelly and some spicy salt on the cup. It has a smokey flavor, tastes okay. Then, we have margarita in a chocolate covered in gold. The next couple appetizers bring in a lot of texture and flavors. I really like the walnut with chocolate, truffle, and foie gras. it is really delicious, a little sweet, a little savoury. One thing that I don't really like is we have to use hands for the food. The fruit salad with cheese powder, citrus sauce, and chili with butter paste is really interesting and I like it a lot too. The homemade tortilla with beans wrapped in a leaf with ant eggs and chileatole sauce is very earthy. Next up is the seafood. This is my least favorite part because I'm not a big seafood fan, and also a couple of the dishes are raw. And I think for this price, I expect some sort of substitution if the guest can't consume raw food, but there are only 2 substituted dishes and the rest is just taken off. I got cooked octopus instead of raw seafood with some creamy sweet and green sauce that is really tasty. It is a little sour and has a hint of spicy but I still like it a lot. The other seafood dishes are okay, some not that good. The beef cooked with plantain is really amazing. You eat it with warm blue corn tortilla. The meat is very tender and the plantain paste is really delicious. For dessert, the chocolate ball with ice cream and guava is yummy. The crepe with sea salt ice cream is a little too salty for dessert imo. The chocolate pop rocks caramel is good as well. As this point, we can't really eat anything else anymore so can't give accurate reviews on the chocolate tower. Service overall is good. It is located in a very nice resort.

I could easily talk about how wondrous this magical place is all day long! It is the setting for a most marvelous vacation! The beaches and pools were warm and sparkling clean and crystal clear! The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The food was absolutely legendary and I miss it every day since we stayed there. And the staff is extraordinary! Each staff member takes hospitality, kindness, and cordial graciousness to a whole new magnitude. The wedding we attended was so lovely and dreamy. I can't wait to return to this paradise sometime, hopefully in the near future!

I would like to say the weather was gorgeous and the resort was beautiful. The restaurant staff was very attentive and clean. The reason I’m giving this two star review is because of the lack places to eat lunch that was not a buffet. We also came back to our room one afternoon and had water leaking from a light socket in the ceiling. But, the icing on the cake was when Marsha at the jewelry store threaten to call security on us because we wanted a refund on a “black diamond” ring we purchased had stones falling out less than 12 hours after purchase. I have purchased higher quality cosmetic jewelry at Target. Beautiful place, great service, decent food but for the price I will be looking elsewhere next time.

The resort was very nice. The location and the beach was beautiful! Loved the service provided in the room was awesome!! My only gripes were that they don't serve alcohol at the beach, The only serve Corona beer, and the buffet could have been better. The food by the pool bars was much better. The place is humongous so if you're going to try to see all the beach bring comfortable shoes. Outside of that, it's worth coming to. It's a nice resort!

I'm vegan and had no issues with my stay! The buffet always had a section with a lentil dish, chickpea dish, veggies, rice, and filtered through other options like loaded zucchini, cactus leaves, and other options which were all vegan. Also the potato wedges and guacamole were delicious. When you get to the resort, go to customer services and they will give you a note explaining your dietary restrictions and if you show this to any host, waiter, or chef at the buffets or restaurants they will let you know what you can eat and often times they'll even make you custom dishes. I highly recommend giving tips when they do this because they will go out of their way to assist you throughout your stay whenever they see you. All the workers were super nice. The vegan options at the 24-hour buffet only had fries/wedges and guacamole, and a bunch of fruits, but I was very happy eating just that after a late night out. I'm not gluten free but they also had a separate section for gluten free breads and dessert. The resort was very pretty too and the beach was stunning. The resort is quite large so be prepared to walk, or they also have shuttles from section to section. One note: I wish they didn't have the dolphinarium.. I didn't know they had it but accidentally stumbled across it when I was exploring the resort. The pool is quite small.. I feel bad for those dolphins.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Barcelo. We loved having the adults-only resort experience while also having the access they provide to the numerous other resorts and restaurants along the beach. The pools are great! We started with a room that was ground level along the pool-river but ended up switching to one of the VIP rooms higher up with a view! I loved having a hot tub overlooking the ocean right from our balcony. Great room service and amenities. Received a very good massage in the spa.

Guillermo Hernández y Silvia del Buffet Beach were welcoming and attentive - they get an absolute 6 out of 5 stars. They made our breakfast very delightful. For the rest of the hotel, it should be disclosed that it is a tier setup. This is not an “All-Inclusive” in the way that we are used to experiencing. Once you arrive at the hotel there are premium upgrades that allow you to enjoy more of the basic amenities that are not offered with the original booking. It is a beautiful place with a large beach but just be prepared to pay for anything more than beach access and buffets. It is more aesthetics than experience/service focused. The staff at the food centers (including restaurants) are all endearing and give great service. They alone make your stay better.

Just got back after a lovely stay at this resort! We were here for 5 days with 8 adults and one baby. Everybody had a blast. Beautiful beaches and huge property. There is something for everyone. Being a vegan, and we also had 3 vegetarians with us, I was very nervous about the options we would have. But I was surprised to see a vegan section at the buffet! It wasn't the biggest section, but still was very nice that they accommodated. No vegan deserts unfortunately, so I had to eat fruits (which wasn't a bad thing). They also have almond and soy milk which was great. They also have lactose free milk. Very accommodating. Restaurants were not great, except for the Japanese one, where we had a blast! Again lots of options for vegans and vegetarians. We had access to three other properties (tropical was closed). The Colonial property's buffet was better than the other properties and this is where we would go to for breakfast everyday. They made the best soy milk cappuccinos! See photo. The only negatives I would say where the pool was really cold, so not much people were in there. Wish it was heated. Also, there weren't much activities going on. The resort was more laid back (which we were fine with). They have so many kid friendly play areas which was awesome for our one year old! All in all, if you're not very picky about food and there for the beach and the warm weather, you will have a blast!

3rd time coming here (me and my family come every year) Everything is great. The beach is fabulous with lots of fish and turtles and corals. Great for snorkeling. Great food, everything is clean. I give 4 and not 5 because of service/room service. They do everything fine your first few days, but then get lazy and stop. I love this place, and enjoy coming back, but we request some more water bottles for our room because there is 3 of us and we brush our teeth with the bottled water (because sink water is dangerous for foreigners). Didn’t get any for 3 days that we asked. Also wish they would have a Japanese restaurant option with no hibachi. Other than that, everything is great and delicious. I definitely recommend coming here for a vacation! Warning though, sometimes the food can get super salty or super bland out of nowhere.

I really wish zero rating was an option. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. This is not a 5 star hotel, the rooms are old and out dated the bathtub was moldy and dirty, when the maid came to clean she never cleaned the room she only remade the beds. The food is horrible, I could not wait to get back home and eat some real food. I came with a group of people. Many of them got food poisoning. To make matters worse the power and the water went out in all the properties for an hour on Saturday people were literally stuck in the hot elevator for an hour and the staff had no sense of urgency to help them get out. The power also went out again on Sunday. The front staff and managers are rude and don't know the meaning of customer service. I booked reservations at some of the specialty restaurants on Friday, however one restaurant we had to pay $20 per person which was fine. We booked this restaurant for Saturday the young lady explained the dress code when going to the restaurants. However we could not make it to dinner on Saturday. Upon me checking out the front desk told me I still had to pay because I was suppose to cancel within 24 hours. How is that when I made the reservation the day before and the young lady never mentioned anything like that when I made the reservation. So I refused to pay for something I never used or went to. These people tried to hold me hostage for $40 they called the security and told me I could not leave. I could not believe this treatment after all the money I spent on this subpar room and board. So needless to say I had to pay for something I never used. I would tell anyone run far far away from this resort its not worth the money and aggravation. The grounds are beautiful, but that's about it

Horrible Food! I gave two stars for the staff. They have excellent staff and that's why this place is still running. Lots people were getting hurt from the rocks in the front beach area. The buffet was horrible for the price, restaurants were decent but would not let guys sit without full pants. No Concierge what so ever, even for premium suite as stated on website. Most people couldn't eat at the restaurants because of reservation problems. There are way better resorts for the same price. Pros: Location, Palm Trees, Vacant Chairs. Excellent Staff Cons: Horrible Buffet, Rocks in the water, people getting hurt from beach rocks (kids ended up in wheelchairs), horrible room service food, no one at the reception No one picked up the phone if late, no one made an extra bed until midnight, keys don't work multiple times a day, so walk all the way to the lobby. If rained, big puddles in the room, some room had water gushing from the ceiling. My old dad had to walk all the way to the lobby to get the key fixed multiple times a day. In short, you are on a vacation, why would you deal with these things. Better stay somewhere else.

The resort is great. Rooms are clean and spacious. The resort has a good overall vibe. lots to do and check out. Food at the buffet is good and the alacarte restaurants are good too. The bars are clean organized and quick to make drinks. Remember tipping goes a long way to making it better. Plus who could be upset when you are laying on a beach in the sun.

Fabulous resort and loved the staff as well! The front desk definitely needs more staff as upon arrival we waited 2 hours in line to get checked in! Other than that it was an amazing trip and resort! I would recommend it! Very kid a kid-friendly resort and an adults-only attachment if no kids! Many activities on the resort cost extra so make sure to factor that in when booking, this includes all activities outside the resort, jet ski rental, golf after a certain time, and other activities on the resort also have fees. Do not buy anything in the resort gift shop as prices are very inflated, go to the local shops on the resort. I paid 60 dollars for a small bottle of sunscreen vs 20 for 2 larger bottles at the local shop. The room was nice but not worth the price in my experience but overall I would go again!

Had an amazing stay for my first visit. Room and service was great. Maybe as a suggestion have more bar staff on hand as it was weird around the pools to have to stand in long lines with one bartender usually. Food was as I expected at an all inclusive but I was happy with it. The grounds were kept in great shape which says a lot as it is a lot of work to maintain such a huge area. The staff for me was a 5 star+, so accommodating and helpful as my Spanish is limited. Overall loved our stay and will be booking for next year also.

Just got home after a wonderful week at the Maya. Beach. The resort complex is massive so be prepared to walk or take the double decker bus. That being said it offers a family everything they need, although at an extra cost in some cases. It was great being able to attend Mass at the beautiful airy church. It was said in Spanish but there was a translator for the sermon. Our last night was at the amazing Japanese restaurant which was both entertaining and delicious. Food at the buffet was good and we enjoyed the convenience of the beach grill for lunches. The beach and pools are awesome and we received great poolside service from lovely Irene. There was always something on at the theatre in the evening to keep us entertained. Value for money it was a great week. Definitely a family resort!

Loved our stay at Barcelo Maya Beach. The great parts: Ivan Uh and Carmen Ramirez at the breakfast buffet are AWESOME! The level of service they provide is great. Ask for them when you visit. Ivan knew us all by name. Cannot say enough good things about how welcome he made us feel. Alberto at the dinner buffet was incredible too. Friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and with damp rid and a fan from home is stayed pretty cool. Housekeeping was excellent. Oscar did a great job for us! They all work hard at this resort to keep things nice. Beach is beautiful and pool is perfect. Grill at the beach has a wide selection of food, not sure how anyone would leave hungry. Steakhouse was tasty and loved it. Tokyo Hibachi was good but small portions. Not allowed to ask for more or change up the meat options. Asked for a replacement appetizer and never got it. Would go there again but then to the buffet later to fill up. Thank you Karina at guest services for getting us into the steakhouse for a birthday. The not so great parts: Fridge in our room was not cold enough. We uses ice in our sink to cool down our bottled water. Need more bar tenders at the pool bar. They are overloaded with people. Friendly but overloaded. Chair saving at pool was a problem. Families could not find seats while many sat empty for the entire day with a single towel on them as a place holder. Front desk wait was horrible. Need more staff there. Guest services was good but getting into specialty restaurants was a task. Karina was very helpful but it took a few trips there to make it all happen (we had 3 reservations). We would to go back. Many of the reviews are a bit extreme. Good food, good people working who want to assure excellent service.

Beautiful beach, pretty good food, great staff. Pretty much everything you want from an all inclusive at kind of a mid range price level. Clean, easy to access and very safe. We left our bags on the beach for hours and no one took our seats or belongings. Great snorkeling too, make sure you bring some equipment because their rentals get snatched up pretty quick.

We went to the resort in a group of 11. The resort is beautiful, very clean and nicely spaced out. The beach is awesome with strategically placed palm trees for some shade if needed. The food was good. We are not really complainers when it comes to food. Large selection (as a Canadian I definitely missed my bacon in the morning, which they only had one day) but that was definitely not a deal breaker. I also wish they would label the spicy sauces etc What I was disappointed with was the staff. I guess 1US is not satisfactory anymore and this was not from one group but watch of our family gave a tip. Sometimes 1US sometimes 20 pesos and sometimes 50. If you gave more you got your drink quicker and they remembered you if you didn't tip each time. There was time at the buffet when we had to flag someone down just to get a coffee or a spoon and this happened when the dining room wasn't even full. All in all a beautiful stay but for that price I won't be returning.

Not only did she keep the pool clean and well-maintained, but she also went above and beyond by bringing me drinks while I lounged poolside. It's advertised as a 5 star hotel but very far away from the 5 star standards in Europe. Would be more like a 3 star hotel. Plus points: - The beach and pool area are beautiful - The bar is nice, good choice of alcohol people are friendly - The bed is confortable Negative points: - The reception is not competent, they charged me the wrong amount and then I had to come several times to the reception to solve the issue they created. In a 5 star hotel, you expect a better service. - The food is of very low quality, not refined taste and deserts are not eatable. - The rooms looks like 80s style and are old. We had water leaking from the roof and a leak under the sink. - The wines included are not good at all (this is a shared opinion from other people I discussed with)

The staff is amazing! There is so much to do for adults and families. Food is not great but it is very good and there is a wide variety to choose from on the buffet. The mixed drinks are average. A little to sweet for my taste but if you are into fruity alcoholic drinks, this is your place. The resort itself is the cleanest I have stayed at. Highly recommend!

Excellent place to stay, attention was awesome, food was superb. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. It was a nice surprise when my kid got sick they had an hospital 24/7. Will surely come back. The only thing I can complain about was about the beach, that wasn’t as clean and it was rocky in most places. But we had a good time anyhow and went in with the kids, we were able to notice bunch of fish swimming around us which was really nice… a LOT of fish. Really enjoyed that experience.

What wonderful place to stay at! The people working there were super nice and accommodating. The beach was beautiful. There were shows every night. All the alcohol you could ask for or want. The room I stayed in was nice. The swim up bar was fun and easy while in the pool. You saw birds and big lizards constantly around there. The food options were amazing. They have everything you could want there with a small casino, a mall, and so many vendor stands. There was also an on site urgent care, and an escape room. But my suggestion is book the escape room your first day because they stay so booked up. Loved my visit and will definitely visit again.

Beautiful place. They did a good job to make it perfect. I didn't like the service desk how they handled my reservation issue, and it's not resolved. Also, the room is not all that, for the paid money it could've been better.

I will preface this by saying this is my first trip to an all inclusive. Make sure you pack your non skid shoes, some sick individual designed all the walkways and dining areas with super slick tile, so you have the very real possibility of falling with every step you take. There is very little communication. I don't feel it's due to the language barrier, they just don't tell you anything. Compared to a cruise where you get information daily or hourly, this is completely different. For the most part, the staff are helpful and friendly, but you always have a couple of individuals that aren't. The rooms are nice enough, but the bed sizes are not what they claim, if they claim a queen, it's a full. If they claim a king, it's a queen. Keep that in mind. My sheets had stains on them and the handle for the sliding door to get to the balcony was missing. One of the sinks was stopped up and the light in our bathroom didn't work The food is okay, I don't think it's anything spectacular, it's not the worst either

My expectations were short lived, since the arrival. 1.5 hr wait time for the transit from airport. When arrived the concierge took time to look through his lists and appeared to have problem to find a room for me even though I have booked the trip 2 months in advance. Then he gave me 1 bed room instead of 2 beds as I booked. After my complain I was told I can get 2 beds room in 3 days which did not make any sense moving over to a different room 2 days before the departure. Service not great at all, wherever I went I felt that if I don't tip then I should not get proper service (staff has focus on other things than serving) Location was nice, big resort, great for water activities and lots of walking areas. Entertainments so so. Food did not impress, big line-ups at the buffe areas. Great coffee Enjoy your stay but do not expect 4.5 plus*

The resort is very large. This was our second time here. Despite being fully booked the staff did a great job keeping everything tidy. Rooms were clean, a little dated but still nice. The beach was nice, clean and plenty of sun or shade depending on your preference. The dining left much to be desired unfortunately. Possibly due to being extremely busy. The a la carte restaurants were very good, the buffet not so much, at least not as good as 8 years prior. Overall a great time , relaxing and enjoying the sun.

Honestly, we couldn’t have had asked for better service from Armando Reyes! He was phenomenal! Very attentive and gave my friend and I world class service. He has really set the bar high for our experience and expectations! We enjoyed his energy and service that we would come visit him every night! Thank you Mr. Reyes for Buffet Beach, you made our stay very special! Gracias!

Amazing place to stay! The beach is beautiful, service has been wonderful. The rooms are dated and could use a refresh but are very clean and clearly cared for. Aide Varguez was our server most of the trip at the pool bars, she was very kind and helpful always stopping to chat with a smile on her face. Aide definitely made our trip special and went above and beyond. Thank you Aide!

You can summarize this place as, good installations, regular food and bad service. I asked for Tropical hotel, when I arrived i found out they moved me to Beach hotel. I asked for connected rooms, they didn’t have them ready until a day after. They did moved me, as a “favor” and until next day. They wanted me to charge me extra to “open the doors” (I guess you can imagine the kind of place this is). Some of the people are making their best effort to do a good job, but the culture here is not about service. I don’t think this place should be a 5-start resort, but I guess having your own arena or dolphinarium took it there, not necessarily service. I am still here for the rest of the week (already pay for it, so we would try to enjoy anyways) but would not recommend it

Yazmin Flores was wonderful! Always by the entry to the buffet restaurant and ready to take my gluten free order. She remembered me after the first day. Was always friendly and helpful. The beaches were great, beautiful sand and gentle entry to the ocean. No big drop offs so you could walk far out. Room was dated and bathroom was small. Not a good layout to accommodate multiple people.

Just finished up an amazing vacation again at this resort. It’s our 5th time returning. One of the highlights of our trip is breakfast every morning. The food is always fresh and amazing and so is the service. I’d like to add to that and say that Ivan Uh and Carmen Ramirez are the best servers/waiters around. So, so professional and friendly. Always greet us with a smile and are quick to bring us our coffees each day along with impeccable service. I cannot tell you how much Ivan and Carmen make our stay that much better!!!

My hopes were high for this resort, but sadly, my stay started off poorly with subpar services and even falling sick. Then, I met one of the staff here by the name of Claudia, possibly the manager. She was very attentive and genuinely concerned and cared about my positive experience here in the resort.. and she completely changed my experience. Thanks to Claudia, I now see this resort in a new light. I'll gladly recommend it to others and look forward to returning. A big thank you to Claudia for making my stay memorable!

Overall, we had a great vacation. Don't think going to Mexico is cheap in any way. If you stay within the resort or a resort activity, you will be buying items at almost a 2,000 percent increase from its real value. Look on Amazon if you find something you like to order it, and it so be home waiting when you get back. Drinks are water downed. If you are looking to catch a move, relaxing buzz without the full belly of sugar. I suggest just asking for shots. The premium upgrade is not worth the cost. It is not bad, I suggest finding a way to get them to give it to you. Staff was always helpful and friendly. Not always prompt, though. We had a nice vacation overall. To many kids for us, if we come back, we will be staying at the Adults Only side, which by way is the best area, nicest and has everything included from what we saw.

Guillermo Hernandez was our breakfast server. He would greet us every day with a radiant smile, he served my family of 23 from day 1 and has given us a great great time. We cant thank him enough for all the beautiful memories we have made at barcello. Exceptional service and amazing attitude.

La Cueva Del Pescador is a popular restaurant in Akumal known for its delicious local and Mexican cuisine, as well as Latin and Caribbean dishes. It also offers vegan options for those following that diet. The restaurant attracts a friendly crowd of expats who enjoy their cold beer and fresh seafood dishes. Must-try items on the menu include the lobsters, margaritas, garlic fish fillet, fish tacos, and cured ceviche seasoned with cilantro.
If you are in Akumal you must experience fine dining in a cave! Purchase a day pass and swim through caves with a guide, then change into some dry clothes by using their lockers. Wonderful for a large group or a romantic day.

If you want to get away from tacos…come here! We had seafood soup and a platter, both were great. The soup was rich and plenty of seafood. The platter was delicious, especially the fish and lobster. The fish was crispy in the outside and tender in the middle. Because of the seafood platter the food was around 1000Mx with tip included. We also had a margarita, beer and coffee.

Excellent place to have a meal. Food was awesome, the waiters speak good English, and have a great service. All in all a successful experience making this a "Do not miss" spot!

We had dinner at La Cueva del Pescador and it was great. We ordered the entire grilled fish and grilled squid. The portion was perfect for two people to share. It came with steamed vegetables and rice. The food was fresh and well-seasoned. We were told the grilled fish would take an hour but it took only 30 minutes. They also gave us complimentary tostadas with salsa before our food came. The menu was in English, and the bill totaled 580 Mexican pesos including a beer and a bottle of water. Highly recommended if you're a seafood lover.

Several types of fish to choose from. I narrowed it down to the snapper and grouper. You can’t go wrong with either of them incredible.

Had an amazing experience here. Super cute ambiance, delicious food, friendly service and great drinks. Ceviche were so yum and it’s a must try. Mango margarita was just out of the world. This place was recommended by a local and it was worth the visit.

Visited after snorkeling with turtles. Lovely place. Attentive and friendly service. We ordered chicken tacos, fish tacos and chicken quesadillas. Food was amazing and bolstered with many chips and dips (freshly made chips). Quacamole was tasty and better than any I have had before. Would recommend

Good food and affordable prices (esp. compared to the beach restaurants 100 m away). Fish Ceviche and vegetarian nachos were good! Home-made lemonade as well. Parking possible in front of the restaurant (also if you want to visit turtle beach). Regular price: 40 MXN/hr or 100 MXN/day. When eating in the restaurant parking us less expensive (20 MXN/hr).

We had a delightful experience at a restaurant with standout ceviche and a nicely paired salad, both showcasing quality and freshness. The value for money is impressive, matched by a clean setting with ample shade. Conveniently, parking was just a two-minute walk away. Among the places we've dined at in Mexico, this one shines brightly, possibly the best for its combination of great food, ambiance, and overall value.

Our snorkeling guide recommended this place for authentic local food and the place didn’t disappoint. We had freshly caught fish grilled with garlic, horchata, and tortilla chips with guacamole mole, freshly made lemonade and shrimp tacos. All the dishes were delectable. The price all together was MXN 750.

The foods great here. I really enjoyed the fresh salad dip and chips. The margaritas were delicious too. I got the shrimp tempura tacos and my husband got the steak tacos. They tasted great. They also offer fishing trips here and will cook the fish after. It cost 200 usd for 3 hours
