The Kulmer Palace Museum is dedicated to personal objects from former lovers, with accompanying short synopses of their relationships. It is a quirky and interesting museum that is well worth a visit for its unique collection.
I think this museum is quite unique in terms of theme. Each and every item in the museum has a story which will amuse and make you sad both at same time. Some stories are very touching and quite a collection of from everywhere in the world. I believe it's must visit in Zagreb, you can't hear stories of people everywhere.
Sonika Prakash — Google review
Do not hesitate to go to this museum if you like to read, like English and/or if you are into love stories. It’s a museum in which there are objects people have given them accompanied with the story of it. Some of them are truly emotional to read, and you will relate somehow with at least some of the stories (there are some about family, not only couples). Even though they say you take from 45min to 1h, I was so involved with the stories, I just lost track of time and spent 2h there, reading and understanding. There’s a book you can write there, it’s a great moment to let go, and there’s also a bar. Great experience, it was my first stop in Zagreb and I definitely say you shouldn’t skip it if you like reading!
Brunna Cocchi — Google review
What a cool concept. So simple, but so wonderful and very well implemented into a museum. The ticket is 7€ and you'll spend between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Stories about relationships that ended, whether they were from lovers, family or friends. Some are funny, some are witty, some are meh, and some are heartbreaking. Awesome museum, one of those that you'll remember.
Elede GD — Google review
*Baby stroller friendly location*. First I wasn’t sure to go or not. It was pouring rain in Zagreb and at first it was just a place to hide in to skip the rain. But ot turned out to be a must visit musuem. Lots of fun/touching/interesting past relationship stories. Would definitely recommend it. The girls in the reception are very polite and the cafe has good coffee.
Goksemin — Google review
This is a roving exhibit that goes around the world. The idea here is to exhibit items that signify love lost and tell their story. And these stories come from around the world. Some of the stories are quite quirky while others are down right sad to read.
Wilson Foo — Google review
Wow. What a cool concept for a museum! There are moments of heartbreak, laughter and reflection and I’m sure we can all relate to something there. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the collections but reading the stories behind them, from all over the world, really made me feel connected. And for only €7, why would you not go?
Amanda Moss — Google review
Not a typical museum. The personal stories were interesting, funny, touching, sad, weird, and gross at different points. I enjoyed my visit more than I expected. Cool souvenirs, too. I disagree with previous comments claiming that it's small. I read every story and felt like if there were more, it would've been too much
Natalia — Google review
Absolutely fantastic! From being on the verge of tears, laughing and being absolutely shocked. If you wander through the entire museum (which I recommend) it’ll take you about an hour. Cost is 50kn. Each sign is in English and Croatian but a visitor book is provided if you do not speak these languages. Toilets and a cafe inside the museum. Great gift shop, including a book which has more objects not in the museum. Definitely recommend for anyone in Zagreb.
Tamika Green — Google review
A very surprising museum. First of all, relatively cheap, with prices being €7 for adults and just €5,50 for students. I spent a solid 1+ hour inside and instead of my expectations of the museum just being about toxic or broken romantic relationships, the museum actually sheds light on very interesting other themes in an interesting way. The exhibition consists of personal stories that revolve around anything from romance, parental love, family dilemmas/losses to dramatic losses as a result of war. All in all a very interesting and 'enjoyfull' experience and an assured recommendation for anyone looking for an interesting/alternative museum in Zagreb :)

The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia, is a profoundly moving and innovative cultural institution. It showcases a poignant collection of personal objects donated by individuals from across the globe, each accompanied by heartfelt narratives detailing the stories of love and loss. This museum creates a powerful space for reflection on the complexities of human relationships and the universal experiences of heartbreak and healing.

Nice place some stories made me laugh and some were sad. Worth a visit. The belongings of lovers is well intact and maintained. The coffee shop has awesome ice latte and cocoa milk for kids. Overall great experience and very relatable to the young generation.

A really unique museum experience. Not much to do apart from stand and read which is difficult when the museum is crowded but I’d still recommend visiting. It’s in a very cute part of the town and the workers are very nice.
Loïs Dunford — Google review
Emotional and tragic museum with a variety of stories. The exhibition is well made and with a lot of detail, but the place is really small so it can get crowded easily. Also the cafè next to it is cut, nonetheless the worker could be more friendly.
Robin — Google review
Some make you angry. Some make you laugh out loud. Some are deeply moving. A surprisingly heartfelt and genuinely interesting museum that I didn’t expect to love as much as I did. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone, and will be going again if I am ever in Zagreb. Fantastic!
Lorne Inglis — Google review
A very different experience, one of happy and sad all mixed. The stories…some are devastating, some are the harsh truth, some are just lovely memories or memoirs. We all really enjoyed it, teens included.
Heather B — Google review
Pretty different museum. We loved it! Went there on a weekday around 7:30pm. It had maybe 10 other people there with us. There are some pretty cool stories and artifacts from all over the world which made the whole experience worth it for us. I think it's a pretty cool concept that can be replicated all over the world. I like that they do traveling expositions as well.

The exhibition at the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb is fascinating. It thoughtfully displays objects symbolising the conclusion of various relationships, whether between an individual, friends, family, or even a person and an object. As you explore the exhibit, you come across diverse items, each accompanied by a story that unveils the depth and meaning behind it. The museum provides a distinct perspective on human connections, capturing the intricacies of relationships, beautifully curated and emotionally resonant, offering a unique insight into the complexity of relationships.
Carlotta Olympia Pompei — Google review
Firstly, the museum's name is incredibly appealing. I was captivated by this exhibit to the extent that I immersed myself in nearly all the narratives. I wholeheartedly endorse this museum. However, my museum experience was somewhat disrupted by noisy fellow visitors. It would greatly enhance the ambiance if a "Please Maintain Silence" sign were placed, considering that the primary attraction here is the written word.

The Jesuit Church of St. Catherine is an impressive medieval-style Catholic church constructed in the 13th century. The interior of the church is decorated with beautiful examples of Baroque art, as well as stucco reliefs by Italian artist Antonio Quadrio from the 1720s. The church also has a beautiful ceiling in the nave with many medallions depicting scenes from the life of Saint Catherine.
Such a gorgeous facade. The colourful tiles on the roof are unique and eye catching. Unfortunately the whole area is cordoned off as of April 2022 yet still a sight to behold.

This is a must see. The design is amazing and is the only one of its kind. The colors from the facade are mesmerizing. Even though this cathedral is not very big, it’s greatness is unmeasurable.

Review of the Church of St. Mark in Zagreb Location: Zagreb, Croatia The Church of St. Mark in Zagreb is a breathtaking architectural gem, renowned for its cultural and historical significance. This church, situated in the heart of Zagreb’s Upper Town, is a testament to the city’s rich past and vibrant present. Architectural and Historical Significance Built in the 14th century as a parish church, St. Mark’s Church has undergone numerous transformations and restorations throughout its history. It’s most famous for its colorful tiled roof, featuring the coats of arms of Zagreb, Croatia, Dalmatia, and Slavonia. This roof is not only a symbol of the church but of Zagreb itself. The southern portal of the church, a relic from the transition from the 14th to the 15th century, is an exquisite example of Gothic architecture. The church has endured various historical events, including earthquakes and fires, with significant restorations in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Recent Renovation Recently, the Church of St. Mark underwent a comprehensive renovation, which lasted more than three years and cost over six million euros. This renovation was crucial, particularly after the significant damage caused by the Zagreb earthquake in 2020. The church’s interior, including its vaulted ceiling and frescoes, was meticulously restored, preserving its historical essence while ensuring its structural integrity . Accessibility and Current Status Unfortunately, due to security measures following a terrorist attack near the government buildings in 2021, access to the church has been restricted. These measures, while necessary for safety, have temporarily limited public access to this magnificent church. The Croatian government is working on solutions to allow visitors and worshippers to enter the church safely while maintaining the required security for nearby government buildings . Incorporating into a Zagreb Itinerary When visiting Zagreb, a stroll around the Upper Town is a must, and the Church of St. Mark, despite the current access limitations, remains a key landmark. You can admire the church’s exterior and its iconic roof from the St. Mark’s Square. The square itself is a hub of political and cultural activity, flanked by the Croatian Parliament and other historical buildings. Overall Impression The Church of St. Mark is more than just a place of worship; it’s a symbol of Zagreb’s historical resilience and artistic richness. Its recent restoration underscores the city’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. While access to the interior may be limited, the church’s exterior alone is a sight to behold and a reminder of Zagreb’s enduring spirit.⬤

This is a must see if your in Zagreb. The roof and the colours are so unique and beautiful. I have never seen any building like this before. Unfortunately you were not able to go inside and the area was fenced off. Even though we couldn’t visit the church itself I was still very happy about seeing it from the outside. The 13th-century St Mark’s Church is one of Zagreb’s most emblematic buildings. Its colourful tiled roof, constructed in 1880, has the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right. The Gothic portal, composed of 15 figures in shallow niches, was sculpted in the 14th century. The interior contains sculptures by Ivan Meštrović, though the church is open only at Mass times.

Despite its size, no one can deny how iconic the church is. This church in the old town Zagreb shows its signature checker patterns on its roof tiles along with the crests. It’s such as shame that the church is not open for public visiting. It would be very interesting to see the interiors of the church
Aik Sittichai — Google review
A smallish and fairly simple gothic church with a baroque tower. The church is known mostly for it's colorful tiled roof that sports two coats-of-arms. It's located between government buildings and was entirely closed off in the July of 2021. An ornate side gate decorated with a number of statues is the highlight of the entire structure. The church is not a cathedral, but one of the oldest churches in the city
Robert Chomicz — Google review
Very pretty church from the outside. Unfortunately, it seems like you can't get close to it nor inside right now. Someone else mentioned that's because of security measures since most of the government buildings are close by. It's a shame since it looks like it would be pretty cool inside.
Diego Salas — Google review
It is a very beautiful church that I have ever seen. The roof is cute and beautiful. The location is very close to the Stone Gate and the middle of the city. However, that's a pity that you cannot approach to the church. It would be very interesting to see the inside though.

This is a superb building with the most striking of designs. Highly recognisable, near the Stone Gate and in the old town it is well worth a look for a few hours. This is a beautiful town and this building was one of the most memorable parts of Croatia.
Willie R-D — Google review
One of Zagreb's most iconic architectural and cultural places, the Saint Mark Church is located at Saint Mark Square, part of the former Gradec, today the Upper Town Zagreb. The tiled roof presents two historic emblems. One is of the former Kingdom of Croatia, Dalmatia, and Slavonia. The second represents Zagreb, the city of wide-open gates, always open to visitors and new citizens. For many people, Saint Mark's Church has also a special emotional value, especially if they entered the marriage in this particular church.
Tigi Borg — Google review
Symbol of the city. Everyone must to see. Unfortunately very often it's closed and entrance is not possible, so I cannot describe interior. It's very close to other attractions, so even if it's closed, it's worth taking a walk around the church.

St. Mark's Church, situated in the Upper Town of Zagreb, Croatia, is a remarkable example of Gothic architecture. Its distinctive roof features the colorful coats of arms of Zagreb and Croatia. The Cathedral of Zagreb, Croatia was built in the late 13th century and is a significant example of Gothic architecture. The cathedral suffered damage from an earthquake in 1880 but has since been reconstructed using original designs. It is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Central Europe and is a popular tourist destination.
Gorgeous church! Unfortunately still under restoration and no entry allowed. The outside is really beautiful Don’t miss the clock on the wall to the left of the church

The cathedral is very nice and absolutely worth visiting. At the moment they are restoring many things (because of an earthquake damage 2 years ago I think) and that’s why you can’t go in. The platform in front of the cathedral is nice for pictures and to the city center square it’s not far to walk! Nice place.
Leon Wiemann — Google review
In 1093 when King Ladislaus I of Hungary (1040-1095) moved the bishop's chair from Sisak to Zagreb, he proclaimed the existing church as a cathedral. Construction on the cathedral started shortly after his death and was finished in 1217 and consecrated by king Andrew II of Hungary. The building was destroyed by the Mongols in 1242 but rebuilt by bishop Timothy (1263–1287) a few years later. At the end of the 15th century, the Ottoman Empire invaded Croatia, triggering the construction of fortification walls around the cathedral, some of which are still intact. In the 17th century, a single fortified renaissance watchtower was erected on the south side and was used as a military observation point, because of the Ottoman threat. The cathedral was severely damaged in the 1880 Zagreb earthquake. The main nave collapsed and the individual tower was damaged beyond repair. The restoration-reconstruction of the cathedral in Neo-Gothic style was led by Hermann Bollé, bringing the cathedral to its present form. As part of that restoration, two spires 104 m (341 ft) high were raised on the western side, both of which are now in the process of being restored as part of an extensive general restoration of the cathedral. Eli K — Google review
The Cathedral of Zagreb, a stunning example of Gothic architecture and a key religious landmark in the city, has a rich history and has faced various challenges over time, including recent renovations following damage from an earthquake. Historical Background The Cathedral of Zagreb, often referred to as the “Stepinac Cathedral,” was originally dedicated to St. Stephen King but was later known for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Velika Gospa). Its transformation into a cathedral coincided with the elevation of the Zagreb Diocese to an archdiocese by Pope Pius IX in 1852. The building has undergone several restorations and modifications throughout its history, adapting and preserving its architectural and historical integrity . Challenges in Renovation Following the 2020 earthquake, the Cathedral of Zagreb has faced significant renovation challenges. One of the main issues has been sourcing the appropriate types of stone for restoration. The original construction and subsequent renovations utilized various types of stone, including local limestone, sandstone, and imported Italian travertine. However, restrictions and public perception issues at the original quarry sites have made it difficult to obtain the same types of stone for current restoration efforts. These challenges are part of a larger conversation about preserving cultural memory and heritage in the face of modern constraints . Current Status As of the latest updates, the Cathedral of Zagreb was temporarily closed for renovation and repair work. This closure was necessary to ensure the structural integrity and preservation of the Cathedral, especially following the earthquake damage. The ongoing efforts are part of a broader initiative to restore and maintain significant historical and religious buildings in Zagreb and the surrounding regions. Visitor Experience Unfortunately, visitors to Zagreb during this period, including January 2024, were unable to enter the Cathedral due to these renovations. Despite this, the Cathedral remains a visually impressive structure and a symbol of Zagreb’s historical and cultural identity. Its towering spires and intricate Gothic details continue to dominate the city’s skyline, offering a glimpse into the past and a promise of future accessibility once the restoration is complete. Overall Impression The Cathedral of Zagreb is a testament to the city’s rich history and its commitment to preserving its architectural heritage.
Cláudio Cardona — Google review

Neogothic cathedral of Zagreb. 100-200 meters from Ban Josip Jelačić square. It is one of the symbols of Zagreb. The cathedral is damaged in the 2020. earthquake, so the renovation is going to be even longer now. It is sad, they really did come close to finnishing it (like, 2-3 years away... Believe me, that is close for our cathedral). Nevertheless it is stil beautiful site from outside and inside. ❤️🇭🇷

Maksimir Park is a large and well-maintained park in the center of Zagreb. It is a family-friendly space with many paths, lakes, and wildlife. The Echo Pavilion was built in the late 1800s, and it is one of the nicest places in Zagreb.
The largest and most beautiful park in Zagreb, which is home to many species of birds. Unfortunately, the hiking trails are poorly maintained, especially in the northern, forested part of the park, so half of the trails are practically impassable from the mud for days after heavy rain. Very relaxing for walk or just to sit on bench and relax. Little bit of peace in city rush life.

Quiet park near the stadium. We visited the park in winter but despite that it was still quite fascinating. The walkable paths are very well kept, clean and you can walk there with any type of shoe, it was not uncommon to find people running. Inside the park you can find the zoo, restaurants and bars. Unfortunately we didn't have time to visit the entire surface of the park because it is quite big. At the entrance behind the restaurant there are some bathrooms, not the cleanest but a good option nonetheless.

Easily the best park in Zagreb and also the oldest (founded in 1787) and biggest (780 acres). I love the variety of landscapes present here; from wide open meadows, numerous lakes and wonderful woodland. Even on a busy weekend you can get away from the crowds if you head into the woods in the heart of this park. There is a nice Caffè on the hill with good views and plenty of benches dotted around the park to sit and relax.

K-neda Pris — Google review
It's a huge park! But it is very dated and has remained in the years of the Soviet era, while that is really 34 years ago now. It is poorly maintained, everywhere signs of the Zoo that is around the corner with pictures of an elephant, an animal that to my knowledge has never been there, at least not now. There are plenty of benches, also a lot of water, but it doesn't look clean, there was a storm here a week ago, so there is storm damage everywhere. Seriously, a week later and people couldn't remove trees in tourist spots, but they could be cordoned off with ribbons in the middle of the path? For the people with the illusion like us that Croatia is cheap because it is South East Europe and lags behind to North West Europe, I help you out of that dream, the prices are the same or higher almost everywhere. The reports about misuse of the conversion from the Kuna to the Euro are completely correct. Everything is twice as expensive and that has nothing to do with inflation. Inflation is 6.6% worldwide in worst case scenario, 7.6 in Croatia in the worst case.... This price increase denotes 110% this is a 103% difference! 'Unexplainable'!

Lotrščak Tower is a large, square tower that originally served as part of the fortifications of the town of Gradec. Today, it remains one of Zagreb's most recognizable landmarks and is home to a cannon that is fired every day at noon. The tower is also popular for its panoramic city views.
It is a very attractive place let you have a wonderful quality time to enjoy a panoramic view id Zagreb

It is a nice place to see the beautiful view of the city of Zagreb. It costs 20kn and euro is not acceptable. When you go up by stairs, it's quite narrow, so you may feel a little bit scared. But it is worth to go up. I've heard that at noon, the canon would fire but I didn't hear anything which made me disappointed. Still check out the view.

A medieval tower with a small museum inside and a viewing platform on top. Cost of admittance is 20 Kuna, there are four levels, three indoor that you have to climb and the fourth being the rooftop/viewing terrace. Each level provides information about the tower as well as old photographs of the place. View from the top is pretty good but not spectacular.
Robert Chomicz — Google review
A great place to watch history repeat it self every day at 12pm. This tower has been firing a shot from the historic Grič cannon in Zagreb at noon for around 137 years. The tower is right next to the ventricular cars, so you can take a ride up and avoid steps if you like.

Didn’t climb it but I imagine the view from the top is nice. Nevertheless the view from the surrounding area is still amazing. We got to see the canon go off which is everyday at 12pm. Hold onto your phones whilst recording because even though you’re expecting it, it’s still a shocker!

A medieval tower in the center of Zagreb that gives you a view of the entire city from the top. It is an extremely narrow staircase (basically enough room for one person to go up or down, but not in both directions at the same time). There are exhibits on several floors of the tower that give you a bit more space (and a place to step out of the way of someone going in the opposite direction). I went on an extremely hot day, so it was not super comfortable in such close quarters, but I imagine it will be much better in cooler months.

Missing it might be a real FOMO. So as it is not far from the center of Zagreb, its market, main square and pubs street, walk the 5-10 minutes and get there, pay the small fee (less than 5 euros), climb it and enjoy. No worry it is not that high nor difficult ;-) Definitely a must if you enjoy taking pictures.

You can be introduced from here to the plain of Zagreb and to the Medvednica Mountain. Also a nice view onto the Old Town with St. Marco church.

Nice spot to head up to for skyline views of Zagreb. Worth coming up here for the 12pm cannon!

Nice tower where you can get a beautiful view of all the city built around this hill. There are different ways to get here, a part the stairs from different sides of the hill, you can also catch the funicolar that for 65 cents per person will let you reach it easily without troubles. For this last option, babies and children are free.
Luca Paiusco — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting! Great city view on top and multiple exhibitions on your way to the viewpoint. You can also see the old canon which fires everyday at 12. Price is only 3 euro which is totally reasonable. You can pay with card.

Must see place in Zagreb. Nice views from the tower top. There is well known cannon that announces noon for decades. Take uspinjača (cable car) to get here from the city center. Entrance fee. Credit cards accepted.
Igor Plantaš — Google review
The views from the top are fantastic. Quite a few steps to the top but if you can manage them it is well worth the climb. 360 degree view of the city and some of its most famous landmarks. Unfortunately those with some mobility issues won't be able to reach the top.

Dubravkin put, a european restaurant located in the heart of Zagreb, is known for its cutting-edge Mediterranean cuisine. The contemporary interior, combined with views of the surrounding woodland, makes it an ideal venue for a relaxing evening out.
I wonder why the restaurant is not awarded a Michelin star. It really deserves it. A simple and well composed menu, excellent service, good wine list, excellent atmosphere and setting, top quality food.

Wow. A perfect blend of flavors! Exceptional food! The best restaurant I have been to so far. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Foods are perfectly cooked, especially that Langoustine risotto and duck. The duck was cooked to perfection with little smoke on the skin, tender. Location is in a lovely forest area in Zagreb. Price is not cheap but the quality matches.

A gem of a restaurant in an incredibly serene part of Zagreb. The service was impeccable. Sommelier took his time in helping us make an informed decision. The amuse bouche was a delightful surprise. Everyone’s meal was terrific. Such an all around treat. Go and enjoy

I just love to spend some time here every now and then and enjoy the whole experience … First of all the staff is amazing: professional, but friendly. A very nice balance of being always there + friendly + but never ever creapy or crossing the line (very important when you dine with only girls). I think I feel most at home here .. Also they have my favourite cigars here haha, and a cigar after a good meal is a special treat for me .. Great wine list .. Great food … Great ambiance …

Went there for a business dinner. Had to choose between two plates (fish and meat) and that gives 1 points less. Overall the food we got was good, we had 4 plates and maybe the last was (fish) was okey. Others were great. We didn't feel hungry even though the plates were small (probably the risotto was what filled us up). Service was excellent, desert also. Atmosphere was great, we seated outside but mosquitoes were also having a great evening with us.

An absolute pleasure and a true gem. The consummate professionalism of the staff is of particular note. Our waiter and the accompanying staff were knowledgable, professional, and polished. The food is excellent, with interesting twists on traditional Croatian fare. The presentation - pure eye candy. One of the few restaurants in Croatia to properly serve medium-rare meat. A robust selection of drinks, they even had a brilliant cider. I could write paragraphs to thank our waiter and the cooks, but I feel the highest praise possible is to simply say: go and experience this locale.

The first restaurant in Croatia we been to and it’s this one in Zagreb for lunch and it was amazing. We came at 2.30pm and ate till 4.30pm. That was how good it was. Highly recommend and if we ever come back again to Zagreb, we will definitely come! We had the Summer Garden salad, Langoustine Risotto, Turbot, and the Wagyu followed by deconstructed Apple tart. Every dish was a smashing hit!

Beautiful meal in a tranquil location filled with greenery despite being very close to Zagreb city centre. It almost makes you feel like you are dining at a restaurant in a forest. All the dishes were very well-presented as you can see in the photographs. How they brought the butter was so cute - on a wooden mushroom. Every dish clearly had a lot of thoughts put into it, and had complex but not excessive flavour to them. I think the chef got the balance just right. Service was very good too, and the atmosphere was excellent.
J M — Google review
The food here was really good. However, the pork I got was a bit bland. It was a pretty thick cut so I can understand how salt may not penetrate deep unless it's brined... Could be intentionally done and completely subjective. They did bring out a salt and pepper shaker for me, but I don't know if they overheard me - I know that can sometimes be considered an insult to the chef. Maybe I'm looking to deep into it. But anyways, really cool location, and I do recommend it - great service and everything was top notch - just yeah you'll need additional salt if you get the pork steak.
Kedhrin Gonzalez — Google review
If you are visiting Zagreb you should definitely try this restaurant if you enjoy fine dining. I loved a take of some traditional Croatian flavors but with a different take. All courses were delicious and pastry chef and dessert are great. I tryed and loved all deserts even though they would not be my preferred choice based on my taste, but in the end all of them surprised me in a good way.
Marko Ilicic — Google review
Super friendly staff, beautiful decor and restaurant, but... The glasses of wine were ridiculously large with just far too little in it and at the price of 2 glasses for 162Kn that was not right. The steak was nice, but....served with absolutely nothing, no gravy or sauce or sides. The fish was ok, the sauce was the best part. The chestnut soup with tonka beans was amazing though. Was it worth it, for this price probably not.

Lari & Penati is a restaurant with a cool and modern interior, located on Petrinjska street in the city center. The chefs use fresh and local market finds to create a wide variety of gourmet dishes that changes every day. The prices are affordable for all budgets, and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting.
This place is truly a gem. I had roast beef salad, fried potatoes with garlic aioli and choco torto. The roast beef is literally melt in the mouth, I love the well balanced vinaigrette dressing drizzled over it. The garlic aioli is so flavorful over well salt fried potatoes. The choco torto is dense yet moist. This place is truly worth coming back again!

This is a good choice for a bit during the day, offering a limited but well executed list of dishes. The portions are very decent, the presentation of the dishes visually pleasing and the food itself well prepared. The service was fast (though it was a mid-week, rainy, late afternoon, so not busy at all) and there is an option to sit in or out. Overall, a good experience although I found that the prices to be a little bit on the higher side for what is on offer.
Kalliope Tsouroupidou — Google review
The only good thing of this place is the wine. Food is average and price is according to the quality OK. What I hate about it is that the staff ask for tips and for me is not an outstanding place that deserve some tips. We decided not to give a tip and suddenly his behaviour changed to a rude mode. Overall, do not go there.

We had our last meal in Croatia here before getting on the night train - and what a great way to end the vacation! We had sardines, quiche, eggplant parmigiana and grilled goat cheese salad, all were very tasty and beautifully presented. Also, delicious wine by the glass. Vegetarians will enjoy many options on the menu. Highly recommended.

The place was near an airbnb flat where we stayed, so we gave it a go. I think food and wine are a fair for the price we paid. I enjoyed the salad with cheese. However, I would suggest other places if you have time to get to the centre of Zagreb. But this place is great for a light meal or drink if you are staying around the area.

Food is delicious and portions are pretty good:-) Pair it with wine and good company and you'll be happy🥰 There are tables inside and outside, but as they are all tall tables, avoid coming here with kids and older people. It's a stylish place for a quick brunch with friends:-)

Excellent experience. We had the Cabernet which was very pleasant. Jammy but not sweet. Kids had the pasta with meatballs and the steak. Pasta was fresh and the steak was juicy. Wife had the ribs which were fall-off-the-bone good with a lightly sweet tinge to a woody (chestnut?) flavor. I had the grilled goat cheese salad which was a great compliment to the ribs. Cheese cake and chocolate cake were likewise excellent. Would return if we were in town again and there weren't many other options. Reading the older reviews, im guessing they have really stepped up their game.

OMG, you guys gotta check out this Croatian restaurant I just went to! It's right in the city center, like literally two steps from the train station. I'm telling ya, the food is super affordable, and the service is super fast. I had an amazing lunch for just 15 euros! They've got some really good wines and beers too. If you're not sure what to order, I'd def recommend the chicken drumsticks or the pork ribs with potato salad. Yum! Don't miss out on this place, it's a real gem!

This Zagreb bistro has beautiful glass walls that allow you to see the gardens outside and is a great place to get some French or Italian cuisine. The menu changes regularly, so there is always something new to try. Whether you're looking for dishes like pasta with Grana Padano cheese and lavender or lamb rack with pistachio crust, liquid polenta, and baked peach jus, trust the chef at Bistro Apetit to please your taste buds!
Now, this is my absolute favorite restaurant in Zagreb! Thanks everyone from restaurant for the outstanding experience and many thanks Marko for great service. We had a 5 course meal, with a wine pairing. Everything was so tasty and special and good looking and wines were perfect! Considering the quality and service, the price is reasonable.

We all enjoyed and hopefully we will repeat.

Excellent! They passed the test with the highest grade for an overall experience. Fine dining, tasting menu with top noch service! We were welcomed and given a table even though we haven’t made a reservation. And you might know that for this kind of haute cuisine one most certainly needs to book ahead so the chef is prepared... They follow the rules of zero food waste! The wine paring was on the point. You can see, that the main waiter (I forgot his name, unfortunately – my apologies) has gone through great sommelier education. He was an excellent host! Let’s see, if they can get a plant based menu for me on our next visit. That would be another test for them to pass! Haha
Felyn di Zeta — Google review
Very good restaurant specialising in the fine dining experience that is still relatively rare in Croatia. Apetit definitely deserves five stars and is an interesting experience with some great techniques on display. The food is beautiful and artistic in composition. The Kvarner langoustine was wonderfully buttery and sweet, and well balanced with the beetroot-soaked orange and fresh sashimi. Tuna tartar was also great and the cuttlefish was excellent with a highly umami parmesan sauce. Top desert with tobacco-flavoured chocolate-ganache cigar, and some fun theatre with dry ice giving a Mediterranean scented smoke. In terms of negatives, my well-cooked flat fish was matched with some slightly bland lentils. The restaurant is relaxed in atmosphere, which is great, although the service was unusual - early in our meal we could barely go 3 minutes before a waiter would come to top up our water or wine, which is a little intrusive, but subsequently when we wanted to pay we felt slightly invisible. Having said that, the staff were immaculate and very polite. All in all, highly recommend and will certainly return since this is one of the top bracket of restaurants in Zagreb.

Really nice location up in the hills. Restaurant inside was elegant but still cosy. Decoration of plates was little old school for NY tadtw, but quality was really great. 5 courses each was fantastic except for the 5th..a plain cheese plate.. Come on guys.. So 4 stars but still a thumbs up
Rudolf Ziegler — Google review
Beautiful elegant place. The menu is okay for the first-time fine dining experience. But compare to other restaurants from Michelin guide, the menu is too ordinary. Vegan menu consists of a few kinds of same vinegar-marinated roots. Way too sour and generic.
Anna Gracheva — Google review
What an amazing experience. This restaurant is part of the recommended Michelin guide for a reason. I actually don't understand why they don't have at least 1 star yet; we've been to a 3-star Michelin star in the San Francisco Bay Area that was worse... Service was great, every single dish was amazing, wine pairing was perfect. The only small issue was that it's not only expensive (rightly so) but they are also a tad pushy with extras... we said yes to a couple of sparkling wine to stary, only to find out with the check that they were more expensive than the great bottle we shared with the meal...

Bistro
The Pod Zidom Bistro is a Michelin-recommended restaurant located in the heart of Zagreb. Head chef Jurica Jantolek strives to explore the creative possibilities of traditional food while still using local ingredients, retaining the character of the dishes but discarding any formulaic attitudes to their preparation.
This place is a gastronomical experience. We were greeted with a warm welcome and had our coats taken to a cloakroom. Seated at the table we were offered water and complementary bread with two spreads. Wonderful start. Had starters and main course and their local white wine. Everything about the plate and overall was on point and superb. Enjoyed till the very last. We had a wonderful dinner! Totally recommend visit here!!

This is arguably a restaurant with exceptional food. The two dishes I sampled as a party of one were absolutely delicious, balanced and cooked to perfection. My server was also very kind, attentive and helpful with suggestions for wine pairing. The 4 stars to an otherwise 5 star food experience is due to the approach to service: I booked an outdoor table with standard height seating. Because: smoker, prefer some back support, and perfectly happy with low temperatures (it was about 10C, which for me was absolutely fine). Upon arrival, however, I was informed (not by my server, who did try to help, but someone who I can only assume is the arch-server or someone with authority re:seating) that I could not sit outside and would have to instead sit inside. I was I stead seated indoors, at a high table/stool seating. This was mind boggling as no such restrictions were referenced on the booking site. For the record, the entire outside tables and seating were empty. I explained that I would *really* like to sit outside and why (which I shouldn’t even have to: *my* decision, given the options on offer) only to be informed that 10C is *too cold* to dine outside. Clearly, management here seems to be an expert on what temperatures one should enjoy their dinner at. If a restaurant is not willing to serve dinner outside, perhaps that should not an option for booking. While advice on the optimal dining experience is welcome, there is a fine line between offering advice and forcing it upon the customer.

I feel like this has to be the finest restaurant in Zagreb in terms of menu, food quality and service. Young waiter, fantastic waiter, extremely knowledgeable. Tons of scaffolding city-wide "lessens" the view and outdoor experience a little, but this was a memorably great meal last night (May 28, 2023). My wife feels the same way, a meal/experience to remember.

Food was very nice, we enjoyed the dinner. Service was very good, menu had variety options for fine dining. It's in the central part of the city, there is a garage nearby to park. It's possible to walk from the centre. We made online reservation, it was very helpful that way to book a table. Portions were big. We are satisfied.

Totally recommended. Outstanding kitchen accomplished with great local wines. Waiter presented every dish with a story and explain origin of products. Everything comes either from local fairs or directly from local farm. The steak was likely the best one I tested from free range beef — super tender and rich taste. Every dish was cooked with attention to vegetables, really great combination of flavours. Thanks you, will definitely come again if I will visit Zagreb again.

Wow! This was the best meal we had in Zagreb. We had the beef steak and beef cheeks and it was GOOD. Our fabulous dinner at Pod Zidom was the best meal we had in Croatia. We enjoyed everything we ordered (for apps we had amberjack and zucchini blossoms and for mains, the beef cheek, aubergine and rabbit lasagna). The staff was friendly and helpful, but they seemed to be a bit overwhelmed. Our food took some time to arrive. However, the food was delicious and made up for the slow service. I had the white fish, which was cooked perfectly and served with a delicious sauce. The terrace was a bit cramped, but it was a nice place to dine on a warm summer evening. The tables were close together, but overall it was good. Overall, I had a mixed experience.. The food and wine were excellent, but the service was slow and chaotic. If you're willing to overlook the slow service, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. However, be prepared for slow service, especially if the restaurant is busy. Here are some specific things that I liked about the restaurant: The food was delicious and well-prepared. The wine list was extensive and well-priced. The terrace was a nice place to dine.

The service was excellent, and the overall decor and ambiance created a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The starters were outstanding, and I believe I had one of the best beef tartares ever. However, when we both ordered the Beef Cheeks, as recommended by our waiter, while they were perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth, they were very fatty and slightly under-seasoned. Additionally, the side of dumplings with cheese inside was heavy and greasy but tasty. Everything was accompanied by a heavy cream base puree, which further added to the richness and heaviness of the dish. The dish was so heavy that it was almost inedible, lacking balance of flavors and freshness to break through the fattiness.

One of the best meals of my life. We were visiting Zagreb in May 2023 and had dinner at Pod Zidom on a Saturday night. The restaurant was mildly busy but it's small so not too noisy. The vibe was nice and the food was excellent, but the best part of the experience was our server Marko who essentially curated an entire tasting menu with wine pairings for us. He was fantastic and made excellent choices for us, and was also so friendly and made the whole experience so enjoyable. Absolutely recommend this spot and will go back next time we're in Zagreb!

This restaurant is located inside the hotel after passing the bar. The servers were very attentive and explained each dish that was served. By chance, this saved me because I forgot to notify them (and I was not asked) that I was allergic to peanuts. The atmosphere was intimate and classy. Dinner was served under the flickering candle light with fresh roses on the white tablecloth table. Perfect place for a date night. They had a extensive wine list, with a sommelier on staff to help if needed. I had the fish and beef steak, both were delicious!

We gave advance notice for the dietary needs of my partner. In my emails with the restaurant, the restaurant supervisor assured us that we could order plain, boiled vegetables for my partner when we arrived. When we arrived, my partner was served was boiled vegetables seasoned with black pepper. We sent this back to the kitchen. What came next was a plate of boiled vegetables that were undercooked. The potatoes were tough because they were not fully cooked, not because they were "al dente" (which is what the restaurant supervisor tried to have us believe). While the correct order was belatedly served, and the supervisor made genuine efforts to rectify the restaurant's shortcomings, we still left the restaurant feeling disappointed with the experience as a whole. The consommé and turbot dishes I ordered were underwhelming. I was not excited by these dishes. The Croatian red wine that was recommended by the wait staff was good. There are definitely better places to eat in Zagreb that won't sting your wallet or purse. I also want to recognise the accommodations that were made, such as moving us to the quieter outdoor seating area to avoid the loud, disruptive group of people at the nearby bar. People with dietary requirements should not be excluded or disregarded, especially when the calibre of the restaurant implies freshly-made food to order with a high degree of accuracy and care.

What a delight to eat here. I always like to try fine dining restaurants in Eastern Europe..so creative and such a different way of using ingredients and really great techniques. Loved our lunch here. Great service as well!
