Dodekalitten

Mentioned on
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Dodekalitten is a contemporary installation art attraction that blends ancient standing stones and modern art concepts. The henge comprises six 7m-tall megaliths, each weighing over 25 tonnes, with stone-tops sculpted into human faces. An underground sound system makes the sculptures hum as if they were singing to each other. Dodekalitten's mystical aura is enhanced by its isolated location, offering sweeping views of fields of waving wheat and mid-distance seascape.
Interesting contemporary art. The sculptures are impressive and the ambient sounds from the rock speakers adds to the experience. I will definitely be back when they are all finished.

A nice piece of art in this part of Lolland. It is now 2023 and it is not finished. Some pillars are not carved yet. You park in the area of the Kragenoes Harbour or in the street leading to it. You start your walk in the forest and walk approximately 15 min. There is some music at the Dodekalitten generated by a computer program. It does this from weather/light inputs. There is also a special parking spot for handicapped people. It is close by.
Marco Hemgenbergs — Google review
Absolutely worth a visit. A Lolland answer to Stone henge. A very nice walk through the Forrest that then opens up to the grand view of fields on both sides, water to the left and the figures in the distance. The figures a breathtaking. Enormous 8-12 m tall and very impressive. It’s well worth the drive :)
Kenni Andersen — Google review
Quite far away from Copenhagen city, it’s more than 2 hrs drive. Walk through a path within a forest, when out of the forest, will be able to see. Walk for another long path to the destination, can hear the music. Very strong wind when we were there. Nice place to visit, moreover is free . Please note that it’s not permanent .
Ngmkien — Google review
It is definitely an interesting place to visit. The parking is near the town so you have a small and relaxing walk in the forest before arriving there. The music played by the AI is really surprising because it creates a real atmosphere around the statues.
Emilie Zhuo — Google review
Atmospheric and mystical. This longtime art project gave something more then just the scenic pictures. Go there on a swell summer day and embrace it with all your senses.

One of the most magical places in Denmark. Please make sure you have time for here, especially if you like Science Fiction.
Ozlem Engin — Google review
Such an amazing place to visit. It brings a tear to my eye seeing the care and attention the Danish place on public open space. Even bus stops are amazing in Denmark. Pride in place taken to another level with this interactive mega sculpture.

Funny place. Far away but worth while to visit. Can be a cold experience as you are close to the sea. The walk up there is nice and you don't realize how magnificent these sculptures are before you have been there. Question is not how did they get there but why🤣 In the middle of the 11 sculptures (nr. 12 is on its way I presume) you are enjoying music. Different sounds and tunes which is very soothing to your soul. All in all, I'm still wondering about the story behind each face. So many expressions. Bring your lunch and enjoy there or go to the local Cafe at the Harbour. This was an excellent day with my dear family.
Pernille Florentz — Google review
Pretty place with amazing structures and scenery. There are 11 stones and one yet to be placed. They all play some kind of sound and have a story about them. There are brochures at the place so if you want to visit pick one up and read it. You can sit on some smaller stones and there's a shop nearby with souvenirs. It can be a little boring for children but there is a marina nearby where there is ice-cream and bathing areas.

Knuthenborg Safaripark

Wildlife and safari park
Outdoor Activities
Knuthenborg Safaripark is a popular drive-thru park in Denmark that features a diverse range of animals from around the world. The park is divided into 11 zones and also includes adventure and water play areas. Visitors can interact with friendly horses and goats as well as encounter more exotic creatures like monkeys, zebras, giraffes, and tigers. The tiger area has been recently upgraded to provide an even better experience for visitors.
Amazing experience!! Must try it, lors of atrractions, and things to do. We spent about 5hours inside the safari park, and we are usually very fast at places like this. I do recommend to bring your own food for picnic, as for the food inside is only fast food.
Celeste Rooker — Google review
This is amazing Safari Park, good for kids, adults and elderly alike. You can save money to buy tickets online in advance. Dinosaurs 🦕 🦖 park is the best. You would be lucky to spot the 🦁 and 🐅 if you wait and have patience

We spent 2 nights in the cabin-tents with a big veranda overlooking the savanna with giraffes. It was magical. Once the park closed for visitors and cars, we just sat for hours watching the animals roaming around freely. They were fed outside the huts, so we got to see them really close. We ordered both a breakfast and lunch box, and there arrived plenty of food of good quality. Before dinnertime, some really entertaining guides arrives outside the huts to answer question and tell the lodgers about the animals. We fell asleep with the sounds of nature, we heard the wolves howling, monkies shrieking and the pheasants clucking. Bring a sweater and some warm socks, the tents get quite cold at night. The duvets are warm and there are plenty of blankets. The fossiled dinosaurs in the Evolution Museum was a great surprise. Later the same day we visited the dinosaur park, where there are animated dinos with sound, in the dusk, it was really well made and very realistic and really tied the whole experience. Very highly recommended to stay a couple of nights and really get to experience everything in peace, get to watch the animals live. We also got to pet ponies, goats and lamas. I dislike zoos and always feel bad for the animals, but in this park, they clearly have a lot of passion for the animals, and let them live with a lot of space and love.

Super nice place! Fun for the family and you can easily spend the whole day there. But important notice - during week day only Mombasa restaurant is open! The other one (Flinthuset) works only in weekends. You can also bring your own food&drinks. Totally recommend!

Knuthenborg Safari Park is unique because of its wonderful location! We have been here several times before, when our children were small. This time we stayed overnight, in a tent by the elephant enclosure. It is indescribable to sit on the veranda in the morning and see the elephants grazing in the morning mist. The tent is very comfortable, equipped with a shower and Weber electric grill, and we slept fantastically well. It is a great experience to walk through the park almost alone in the evening. All in all, a great experience and a lot of fun!
Mario L. (MIEL) — Google review
We go every year with our children and it is a nice place to spend a day. Nothing has changed since the first time we visited (6y ago) but still you can kill a day with family. Same animals, same shop, same food same same same. The Tigers and Lions are never there. It's kinda losing its charm. A bit pricey lately 😕
john bubuu — Google review
It was so much more than I expected! I went with my kids 2 and 4 and they had so much fun. The Park is very well planned, we started our tour at 11am and finished at around 4.45pm. We didn't see all the enclosures but it was so worth it! Kids are especially invigorated by the animals that they can pet and the Dinosaur exhibition is quite remarkable. We brought some snacks from home that we snacked on while on the drive through the park and finished at the Limpopo-land food court where we had some Burgers and Fries from the Mombasa Restaurant. The food was really good! The Burger and fries as simple and very delicious and reasonably priced. You can eat at the food court/terrace but it was quite windy when we went and we chose to have our meal in the car and it was no less delicious for that fact. 100% recommend! Bring some snacks, a camera and good walking shoes and ready to have fun.
Wairimu Murigi — Google review
Just wow! I never expected such a SAFARI in Denmark. You can drive around the grassland to see and touch(some of animals) animals with your own car and well made Dino robots in a life scale are bringing you to Jurassic period. The area is bit too small compare to the safari area but still very nice. There are also many spots where you can enjoy picnic. Bring your own food and drinks to enjoy the safari more and longer. Must go spot with your kids!
rainypraha — Google review
Knuthenborg has always been the place to go for our summer vacation in Denmark, and it never fails to entertain. Even now, when I'm 22 years old, i still tell my mom to drive to the horses or goats, so i can pet them. That's, of course, the most important part of the trip. Of course you also got more exotic animals, like monkeys, zebras, giraffes and of course the tigers, which area has gotten a significant upgrade. All in all, a wonderful place, where the animals look like they're treated well. I don't think there will ever be a day, where i won't recommend Knuthenborg Park.
Mark Svensson — Google review
Less than what I expected! The map you receive is useless, signals on the road are not clear at all! It was interesting to see Big Joe and the Dino’s garden! A day with no kids would be ideal, too much noise!
Bar Dado — Google review
We spent the whole day in this park and it was simply amazing. It's perfect for kids, especially since you can get out of the car in several areas. You've got everything there from huge giraffes to tiny monkeys :} The playground is a huge bonus as well and we also very much liked the dinosaur area. 7 hours went by so quickly.

Lovely port, good sanitation, top views to the shore side and the seaside. Nice place! (But you better stay off the "city", uncommonly ugly and rotten place for danish proportions) Slight disadvantage: Waste water disposal and fresh water bunkering is possible but inconvenient - for takers and passers since it is that narrowly positioned.

The best place I visited whiles holidaying in Marilyst. And this feeling I didn’t get from a person providing service but from the calmness of the water. Oh Lord! Peaceful, serene and just beautiful. Just standing at the port offers soo much healing ❤️‍🩹. The cons was, they had no shops to buy articles from but maybe this is to keep the peace.

Small cosy harbour with the best beaches on Lolland. Water is clear and clean with an average temperature of 20* ( July 2021 ) . There are some restaurants some open some not. Not fancy food ,but you'll surely survive . You can get a meal for close to 10 euros . All in all nice harbour and a good place to relax for a day or two.

A little disappointing, I thought this would be an original preserved village but all the buildings were moved from elsewhere. Some of the information is available in English. In some places, it is too dark to read the info (although I appreciate that the original buildings would be dark!)
chris fearnley — Google review
It's a well preserved piece of culture. The houses are kept just as they were, and it is fascinating to look at how things used to be. There's several closely clustered houses such as the smithy, the forester's house and they contain old furniture and relics such as pots, doll houses, weaving machines and tools. There are also several spots with old Danish games that are fun for adults and kids alike. The place also has the oldest wind mill in Denmark (the post being 426 years old) which is magnificent to look at. All in all, it's worth a quick visit when in Lolland.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful open-air museum on the outskirts of Maribo, which shows life from earlier times on the Danish island of Lolland: including beautiful half-timbered houses, a large farm and information about the storm from the 19th century. My visit was when they did a Halloween event - The Darkest Night / Den Mørkeste Nat. They did a great job to capture the spirit of All Hallow's Eve, while also adding historical value to the experience.

Interesting place, tells the story of how people used to live. The buildings are authentic. Entrance price I very reasonable. It's allowed to bring your own food and drinks, there are benches and tables around the area of the museum. The museum is very child friendly, but there isn't s lot for the youngest children to watch og play with.

Book a table right now! You won't regret it. This place is a gem. Situated with a perfect view over the harbour in Nysted it's spectacular sitting outside on a summer night, and quaint sitting indoor if it's cold. The menu is simple. A choice between two starters, 3 mains and two deserts (at least when we went). And while they are known for their fish, my boyfriend praised his tartar and we could see they also offered some lamb and beef. The menu probably changes from time to time though. The place is owned by a married couple, wife in the kitchen and husband greeting at the door. You will be treated well but informal. With only one chef they only serve 10 tables or so per night, so while you can take a chance we didn't have any luck and had to book a table for another night. And it's only fair to cancel if you can't make it. We saw them turn people away, while one table eventually had to be cleared because people didn't show up - that's sad. But - seriously, the fish was cooked to perfection, falling of the bones. The view spectacular. You won't regret going there.

The Danish restaurant "Den Fuldkomne Fisker" offers a fantastic dining experience with friendly and welcoming owners and staff. Oh my goodness, Den Fuldkomne Fisker (The Perfect Fisherman) restuarant is an experience rather than a meal. You will experience truly wonderful food, served in a delightful setting, but the most fantastic hosts. What a great experience. The owners and staff are so nice and welcoming. The food was amazing and the service was above what you would expect. We came with small children, and they had prepared so well. I have never visited a restaurant that made us a privat play area for the kids with toys from when their own children was young. The food for the kids was great with organic vegetables and children friendly main dishes. You literally sit in their own living room eating. The food was great and the wine complemented the food very well. Most of the food is produced locally, even in their own garden. It’s well worth stopping by in Onsevig just for this restaurant.
