Thetowerofhercules, a World Heritage Site built in the first century AD and located on a peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean, is one of the most iconic historical landmarks in Galicia. A monument to Roman engineering, it features a sculpture park made up of enormous chiseled rocks tracing the structural changes over time. The tower is also a popular tourist destination with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Rating is for the entire area. Sure, the Tower is phenomenal and the tour (buy tickets well BELOW the tower, in parking lot!) is a must-do, but the trails, promenade and public art are equally evocative and special. Terrific small beaches nearby. Glorious!

Ancient roman tower in pretty good nick. Also still a working lighthouse. Oldest one in continuous use apparently.
Good tourist attraction and a relatively scenic walk to it.
Cheap enough tickets. Great views of the surrounding sea from the base....obviously.

On a cruise which stopped at La Corona. Walked through town to what was described as the oldest light house in the world which was originally built by the Romans. An impressive site, only a few Euros to enter and climb the 200 plus steps to the top which we did not do . I expect the view would be spectacular. Also a popular place for coastal walks. Recommended

Very Picturesque and a great view... Unfortunately no ticket available for a climb... But still a lovely 360 degree view.

We first went during the morning and it was impossible to find parking anywhere without having a half hour walk, so we went away to the city centre and returned again the same evening.
We couldn't entre inside the tower, but had a lovely walk up to and around it.
Impressive tower that is the oldest standing lighthouse in the world. It was reformed in the 1780s and apparently you can still see the original building from the inside. The spiral you see on the outside is also the original walkway up.
Definitely worth a visit. The views are lovely. Take a light jacket in the summer. Very windy and fresh in mid August! 😁

an old roman tower, perfectly restored with amazing views. All the history is fantastic. Don’t miss it, and get tickets online in advance

This is pretty fascinating for the age and location. Originally from the first century, remodeled to how it looks today, in the 17th century, this is definitely worth the visit. But the grounds around it are the best feature. Beautiful coastline, hours of walking or hiking, and an overall fantastic day/half day outdoors. Good hike and exercise with scenic photo opportunities. Cheers!

We enjoyed visiting this ancient lighthouse which is now a UNESCO world heritage site. There is a fairly steep walk up a hill to get to the tower and then some stairs. The tower was not open when we visited, so we didn't get to go inside. But the views from the base of the lighthouse were excellent.

A lot to see around the Torre de Hercules. You have many paths to access to the tower or see around, by following the coastline.

Great experience. Entrance was free, but you have to book a ticket, timeslot, to get in. A bucketlist thing. All the way up in the tower, aged from the Romans, legend says celtic.

A fine place to spend 30-60 minutes. You can buy tickets at the entrance (cash or card), and there is plenty of parking. The place is well organized with walking paths, and there are several stops to observe. The view to the sea is very breathtaking.

It's a nice historic place and UNESCO world heritage site. The lighthouse itself is well preserved and renovated! by keeping the original design as much as possible. There is some controversy about the windows but you can read about it there! On its own the sight is not too special, but it's surrounded by beautiful scenery and nice coastal walks. The price to climb up the monument is more than fair and gives you a good impression of how the lighthouse changed over the years. Worth a visit if you are in the area, but not worth a big detour if you are not particularly interested in history. Including the coastal walks you can spend about 2h there.

I went to visit family and the birthplace of my paternal grandmother in 2018. My family in A Coruña told me I had to visit the historic lighthouse built by the Romans. It is an imposing edifice. Amazing that such a structure has survived for millenia. And against the backdrop of sea and cliffs, it is unforgettable. Nice walk up to the lighthouse and little museum at the bottom. If you are in A Coruña, make time to visit, you will not be disappointed.

We took a cab from the port. Small ticket fee but very beautiful, historic and majestic place. We hiked to the top to enjoy the view. Ticket times manage the flow of people to avoid congestion on the narrow steps at the top. Had to walk about 1/2 mile to the taxi stop back to town but well worth it.

Well worth the €3 to visit and book in advance to guarantee a timed entry. Beautifully restored Roman lighthouse with information boards in English at every leve and an amazing view from the top. One of the best restored monuments in Spain.

Monte de San Pedro is a beautiful city park in the heart of A Coruna with stunning views over the city and coast. It contains a maze, historic cannons, and a glass elevator that offers panoramic views of Corunna.

Great park for a stroll if the weather allows. Breathtaking view of the ocean, the Costa da Morte and the city of A Coruña, with the added historical value of the military fort and its artillery pieces. Access by car is easy and parking is plenty and free of charge.

A place with a fantastic view over the city. The green of the hill and the sea in front make us feel good. It also has historical relevance. The elevator, an icon, was under repair, and so was the observatory.
They are essential in the visit. Hopefully everything will work out soon. Even so, I recommend the visit.

You can drive or take a nice uphill walk! It has gorgeous views of A Coruña. There is a bit of history to see there too. Old canóns thst used to protect the city are lined along the hill. It is a nice place to go with the family or alone too. You can sit on the grass and have a little picnic too. There is loads of parking and it is a great place to photograph the Tower of Hercules from.

What a beautiful place with an amazing view!
It’s a bit windy so take a coat, but is totally worth it! I’ve set on the smoothest grass I’ve ever sat, so green, soft and thick.
There are several cannons that were never fired in a battle, and an observatory that is free of charge, with a 360 degrees view and without wind 😅

Absolutely stunning views of the city, great spot to take pictures. But more importantly an amazing place to sit and listen to the waves with the wind in your hair and a book in your hands. It feels extremely relaxing to be sat in such a place. The history of the military installations was great to see. Some of the machinery came from Ipswich England which is not to far away from me. The cannons were huge. Next time I am in coruna I will definitely be taking a nice picnic and relaxing at monte de san pedro.

Great place to relax and walk about! The views are incredible, you see all Coruña and also the seaside. The park is a weird mixture of war structures and weapons in the middle of lush greenery and huge flower beds. I recomed visiting this place as it's relaxing and very well taken care of, plus the views are incredible!

Pr. de María Pita is a public square situated in the heart of the city, which has been transformed into a pedestrianized area for the convenience of visitors and residents alike. The central attraction of this square is its magnificent town hall building that stands tall amidst an array of arcades and terraces. Downstairs display room amazing..full walkaround windows with fish swimming round an round. Amazing decor with an vintage feel. We walked to here from the town which was nice but slightly too long for our children. Great coastal views and scenery.

Although looks small from the road it is actually on 3 levels and made for an interesting visit. Shame that the cafe was closed but there is a small shop selling soft drinks inside the entrance on the left. Quite impressed with the layout which got better the further you went inside. A definite plus is that there is a lift to all levels which is great for families with prams or users of wheel chairs. Lots to look at and from my perspective is a worthwhile place to visit. I will let the photos do the rest of the talking.

Great place to visit. It is not too big, but has wide range of stands with lot of interesting facts and information about marine life. Outdoors they have two pools to visit little fatties sea dogs aka seals. Best part is underground marine dedicated to Jules Verne, with 360 aquarium.

Visited as part of a tour, some excellent parts, but also disappointing in the main. Firstly the positives. Great access and toilets on site. It’s only 10 Euros each to get in. Seal feeding at midday is great, you can get really close to these beautiful creatures.
The site is entirely In Spanish, not surprising given it’s in Spain, however most such sites now around the globe have signs to accommodate most. The do have a QR code to English texts, but they can be hard to find in the dark. Additionally there is no suggested route around, and you don’t get an idea of what’s there unless you keep looking, it would be really easy to miss a room. We spoke to a staff member who spoke English and she said we had seen everything, that was apart from the massive room behind her and the tanks in there …. It could be so much more, it’s a shame for visitors.

A good three hours spent here. A nice selection of displays and animals to look at. Some good educational material. I felt bad for some of the aquatic animals who had very small tanks that did not have any decoration/stimulation for them, and were also kept alone. Very sad. Otherwise, conditions seemed pretty good. Reasonable entry at €10. The cuttlefish were mesmerising. A good activity for a rainy day.

Good place in a quite environment.
It does not have many attractions.
I like the fact walruses are in an open environment. Many things to read, only few of them interactive.
The nautilus exposition is one of the best spaces.
Persona Opinion: it seems that the aquarium open few years ago, it remained with the same expositions, no new ones and they are fighting to maintain it feeding the animals... important: personal opinion.
In general it could be better. If you like the aquariums you may go, but is not good enough (I have visited other aquariums that are really good) as to make a mandatory visit in A Corunha. I really love animals and museums but this one did not gave me the Wow" or " So nice" effect.

Great place for kids, but adults can learn a thing or two there as well. It has some activities (seal feeding, short "class" about sharks) which is a nice addition. There was an amazing photo exposition in the hall when I was there.

A nice facility with a lot of educational and interactive content that was unfortunately not made easily accessible in English (not a big deal though).
Some highlights from the exhibits were the live shark eggs that you could see, the seahorses, seals (outdoor), and the jellyfish.
The Nautilus room was a breathtaking experience, especially once the sand shark came into view. I would come back just for this.

Worth planning around the seal feeding time at 12:00 and 17:00 with spanish narration. If you miss it they are still fun to watch. They are outdoors, so bring an umbrella in case it rains.
Nearly missed the 360degree underground tank Nautilus where there are numerous fish and a shark swimming around (the water doesn’t look too deep so feel a bit sorry for the shark).
There’s not enough signage inside. Map not very detailed either. Just make sure you cover the outdoor, indoor plus the underground areas.
The ‘pats pond’ depicted on the map doesn’t exist anymore, replaced by a model ship driving area.
No English just spanish and gallego explanations but it might be good for me saving time from reading everything.
Some people might find it a bit expensive at €10 entrance fee for a medium sized aquarium, but it’s got a variety of tanks to spend a good 2hrs (or more).

If I tell you it's old and costs just 2 euros, you'll already be convinced to visit, so what else is there to add? 🤷♀️
There is an archeological exhibition of bits left after rich Romans (a kind of thing that would only captivate you if you visited with a passionate history school-teacher), an old boat, a hidden well.
You can climb on the top terrace to get a view on the port and yachts of rich people, which maybe one day will get preserved in a museum and only captivate anyone if they visit with a passionate history teacher, an expert on the 21st century.

Excellent fortress turned museum right on the maritime walk in A Coruña! Beautiful views once you reach the top. There are very interesting artifacts inside as well (including an old viking ship). Nice castle. At the end of the 16th century, Felipe II had San Antón Castle built on a small, rocky island, as a fortress for defending A Coruña port.
As a result of successive restoration projects, it took on its current appearance at the end of the 18th century. It was also a prison until the middle of the 20th century. Since 1968 it has housed the municipal Archaeology and History Museum.

Historical Castle from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. it closed the entrance to the port of Coruña. Very well preserved, it is the seat of the Archaeological Museum.
Its exhibition ranges from the castro culture, the period of Roman domination, and historical evolution up to the 19th century.

The Praia de Riazor is a picturesque beach located in the heart of A Coruña. It boasts a wide curved stretch of sand and a popular path for walking and biking. The beach is composed of two parts, Riazor Beach to the south and Orzan Beach to the north, both facing the bay of A Coraza with traditional buildings from central A Coruna serving as a beautiful backdrop.
Spectacular beach in the heart of A Coruña with amazing views. There is a maritime walk from one end to the other (it is the longest one in Europe). There are several areas of the beach that are near rough seas (good for surfing, though). There is a flag system that alerts you to which areas are safe. MEGA, the Museo Estrella Galicia, is a unique brewery museum located in Galicia, Spain. The museum offers guided tours that showcase interactive displays and exhibits on the history of beer making. Visitors can also sample various types of beer in the bar area. The museum is renowned for its sophisticated and exciting atmosphere with plenty of interactive stops such as riding a moto GP motorcycle available to visitors.
Interactive and fun experience. Whether you love estrella Galicia, like my husband, or don't really like beer at all, like me, you can still enjoy the experience.
We were planning on the 15€ self guided experience because I don't drink beer, but realized once there that they were only conducting tours at the moment (or at the time we arrived, not sure) so we had to take the guided tour for 25€.
The guided tour was fun, and it was nice to have someone explain each exhibit. Our tour was in Spanish, but most of the exhibits and interactive screens had English.
This tour truly uses your 5 senses, from watching and hearing, to touching, smelling and savoring. You get to taste the beer before it's become beer, as a young beer, and as the finished product.
After the tour ends (about 1h15min), you go to the tasting room and learn how to serve a "caña" the proper way. You get to drink it and keep the glass as a great souvenir. You also get a flight of other 5 beers to taste and compare. You can choose upgraded tickets with cheeses and embutidos for 35€, but else you get a bag of nice chips to go with the beer.
Definitely enough beer to make one a bit tipsy, haha.

Really cool beer museum from Estrella Galicia (it reminded me a lot of the Guinness Museum in Dublin). So, there were a lot of details that really stood out. It was a very well organized tour. When you give your name for the reservation you receive a bracelet that identifies you at all times whilst in the museum. As soon as your group goes up the stairs you pass your bracelet at the turnstile and your name appears on the screen with a welcome message. Throughout the tour, the guide explains the beer- making process and you even get to try several different beers at their different stages of processing. The best moment, of course, is the cafeteria where you get a beer (of your choice) and some Bonilla crisps. There's a formula 1 Ferrari car that you can take a picture with and many other photo opportunities throughout the modern building. The gift seemed pricey to me, but I'm sure that others might think otherwise. The famous Galicia ceramic brand Sargadelos has an Estrella Galicia commemorative beer mug at 80 euros, for example. There are some t-shirts and other typical gifts too. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Coruña. Parking is easy around the area.

The guide Jacobo was excellent - the tour was all in Spanish (which we speak, but not fluently) and he was great at ensuring we were ok and checked at the end of each section that we'd understood everything. There are also lots of explanations on the wall / displays in English.
The tasting and beer pouring session at the end were good fun.

I have been there twice during my staying in Coruña and I liked it a lot. There's a lot to see and discover. The most unbelievable part is that the visit costs 0€

While the exhibitions themselves were quite interesting, the overall plan/layout of them was rather confusing. In one corner was the moon landing, turn around and you can read all about gilette razors and the invention of velcro and the light bulb. Information about the invention of the piano was right next to the particle accelerator which in turn was right next to the first motion picture camera...
Entrance is free and they have 9 floors so there is plenty to see. A worthy visit.

We really loved this museum, such a gem that you might expect to find in a big city, like Madrid or Barcelona (yet there is none like it), I guess that's why they've named it the National Museum of Science. Lots of interesting information for all ages! The building itself is modern, tall and beautiful (wheelchair friendly). Each floor has original pieces, cars, motorbikes, even a 747 airplane (clearly the star of the museum). You'll be shocked at the size of the first television! We thoroughly enjoyed learning about everything, information is clearly written (but only in Spanish). Google lens can translate what you don't understand. And best part, it's free!!

This museum is fantastic. It is a journey through time through technical inventions and advances. Take your time going through all the areas, but don't expect to take in everything you see. You have to come back for that. It's definitely worth it.

Excellent, free, science and tech museum with a focus on Spain.

Fantastic museum with a huge range of science and technology inventions from throughout history, from the every day items, to the more obscure. The staff were fantastic and gave the kids a tour in English with activities that encouraged them to explore the different spaces and to learn about the different inventions. Thank you team.

Marineda City is a large indoor mall that contains over 200 shops, a hotel and a global home-goods retailer. This shopping center offers an extensive selection of goods from various brands all under one roof. The ZARA home store is particularly noteworthy for its well-designed and artistically arranged displays. However, due to the pandemic some stores have had to close, creating empty areas within the mall.
Located in the small city of A Coruña, it is the largest shopping center in Galicia and is among the first in Spain. It has stores, with diffirent brands such as IKEA which is very big and offers nice things plus the coffee area where you can enjoy having snacks with your family , Decathlon, Media Markt , Leroy Merlin, Primark, H&M, Mango , the famous Zara and etc to enjoy shopping. It also has various leisure for your kids so you will never get bored when you bring them in this area. They have restaurants around like POPEYAS pizzerias and etc which is located at the top floor...plus you will not be having a problem parking your car because they have very spacious area underground.....A very small town yet with this shopping area its a wow

Such a great shopping centre with an enormous choice of goods. Loved the ZARA home in particular because it is like a picture book shop; so well designed and artistically arranged. Shame though, because of the virus some places had to shut down so it makes some areas look a bit empty.

Nice and modern big shopping center close to the city. Good connections with the city center. Very clean and big parking space. All kind of restaurants and services.

Marineda City is a very popular and huge shopping mall with a wide variety of stores, cinemas, restaurants and even a proper Ikea.
If you drive here the access from the road is not particularly easy or even properly signaled so first time you visit chances are you'll drive a little longer than you'd need and you won't park in your ideal section for your destination on the massive parking lot this shopping area has...
Cinemas have a few screens and are top notch. No Imax sadly, but apart from that it has screens with top tier image and sound quality. Most foreign films are dubbed to castilian spanish, as is most common in Spain, but they do have some screenings in original version. Few and not every day, but they do have some.
Food options are what you'd expect in this kind of place ranging from fast food to some more chilled restaurants with speciality cuisine.
Marineda City is the biggest shopping area in the region and as such it gets very busy, especially on weekends, so is pretty common to find more or less long queues and can take quite a while to park at peak times, so better avoid those if possible.

Huge commercial area with a very wide variety of shops... including cinema, El corte Ingles, Leroy Merlin, Zara, an IKEA nearby and many more. Has free parking and a food court.
Paulo Mauricio — Google review
Huge mall with lots and lots of shops (200 according to the web). The top floor has restaurants, cinema and toilets. It would be nice to have toilets on every floor but that is not the case. The halls are wide and even though it was a busy day, it did not feel crowded. There are things to keep the kids busy, including a nice arcade on the top floor. Worth a visit whether you need something or not.
the parking is HUGE and free. It could use more EV charging stations but hopefully they will add some to keep up with the times.

Fantastic shopping mall. Great places for shopping including IKEA, Decathlon, El Corte Ingles and Zara. Plenty of options for food and entertainment!

Good place to buy all branded things from a single roof.
Menhirs for Peace is a sculptural park near the Tower of Hercules in A Coruna, featuring menhirs by Manolo Paz. The stones have square holes cut out of them and resemble a mini Stonehenge. Visitors can take postcard-worthy pictures with the Tower of Hercules through window-like openings in the sculptures. It's a surreal and beautiful space, offering breathtaking views of La Coruna and providing a peaceful environment for relaxation, meditation, and family time.
Strange place, situated just off the coast in A Coruna, it has lots of stones with square holes cut out of them and a rather stranger set of stones which looked like a mini Stonehenge (UK). There are no restriction around the stones so you can go right up to them and take your pictures. The stones are fairly large, but no way on the same scale as stonehedge in the UK. Very interesting place to visit and well worth it. In the area there are benches for picnicking, but no shops to buy anything so its quite isolated out here, you will need to walk for a good 10 minute's to get to town.

It's a really beautiful space to take some amazing pictures in. Everything is very surreal in this place with the menhirs and the ocean and just the overall place being so beautiful. Not sure if we got super lucky, but there wasn't anyone else there really, just a few people walking their dogs or taking a stroll, so we got to enjoy some good photo session moments
The Gardens of Méndez Núñez, established in 1868, feature vibrant flower beds and fountains within a landscaped park. The area boasts monuments dedicated to revered Spanish figures. The park is teeming with life; young children play while visitors stroll around admiring the old trees and stunning architecture. The Gardens regularly host events such as the Feria del Libro or Feria de Artesanos.
On a scorching afternoon all you need is a lovely garden with plenty of trees to shade under and a cold beer. Only five minutes from the port this place is ideal to relax and just chill out.Plenty of tables and chairs set out in front of the cafe,an odd shaped building with plenty of staff to help out.Go inside and order,I recommend the beer and the crisps of course but other drinks available.
Michael Soanes — Google review
The garden is well maintained but quiet noisy due the traffic on both sides. Please notice a small space with a small garden with colourful flowers that aremaintained daily to update the date. It is a simple but beautiful gesture.

Beautiful little park, a few minutes walk from the cruise port. Lots of benches to sit and while away a little time or look at the many statues with a coffee from the small cafe you can find near the entrance. Very clean WC there too.

María Pita Square is a grand public plaza surrounded by historic buildings in the heart of A Coruna's Old Town. The centerpiece is the impressive town hall, which dominates the area. Tourists are drawn to the square to marvel at its magnificent architecture and soak up the vibrant atmosphere. The square also features a monument dedicated to heroine María Pita, after whom it was named, and marks the 8th degree longitude line.
Incredible Public Square in the heart of the City and next to the Old Town of A Coruña. Spectacular A Coruña City Council Offices. Plus the 8th degree longitude line in the square.

This square is definitely worth seeing if you are in A Coruña. The square is very historic and very beautiful. You can Google and learn more about it, or a lot of guided tours will bring you here, and you can learn about it from an expert. We spent about 15-20 minutes here.

Nice and ample size for a square and offers a handful of restaurants for varying appetites. Located a block from the boat docks.
Nice place to grab a meal or drink while taking you charge your batteries.

Large plaza that every guidebook tells you to visit, only to marvel at a huge town hall. It is huge and to be admired, but the place is more exciting if there is an event going on. E.g. a display of old firetrucks. 🚒

Nice open space to sit, have a drink and watch the world go by. The town hall building was very grand but no videoing allowed. Little cobbled streets leading off to the many churches, beach or cruise terminal.

Located in the heart of La Coruna close to the Port. City Hall is also located there, as well as many dining and ahopping options. Also an open air concert courtyard.

The town hall is a beautiful and impressive building that of course dominates the square. During our visit they were setting up for a classic music festival over a few days.
We enjoyed a lovely coffee and a zero beer in the square, taking in the surroundings and people watching.
A must if visiting A Coruña.

When you leave the port and walk along the promenade the square is hidden behind the first row of restaurants and cafes in front of you. The square is huge and you are surrounded on all sides by official buildings and apartments.Very similar to Prague or Brussels there's some really nice architecture here. The Maria Pita monument stands proud on a big plinth and is a great photo opportunity. The story of Maria Pita is interesting too. When you walk out of the square be prepared for a good walk around the old town.

Top place and must visit in La Coruña. The story about this brave woman is also very interesting. The square is very clean, spacious and has good restaurants around.
Colexiata de Santa María do Campo is a historic Catholic church dating back to the late Roman period, built in 1120, making it one of the oldest buildings in A Coruna. The relatively simple yet charming church features Romanesque arches and a portico adorned with depictions of the Virgin, Child, and saints - some even depicted with smiles and casual poses. Visitors can enjoy the serene ambiance enhanced by Gregorian chants playing inside.
This is a relatively simple church, refreshingly so after seeing many Baroque churches. Love the scale of it, the Romanesque arches and especially the Virgin, Child, and saints around the portico. They have smiles!!!! Pretty unusual. In fact, one Saint (?) to Mary’s right, is leaning on the arm of her chair, feet crossed casually. Don’t see that everyday. They have a Gregorian chant tape playing inside which adds to the ambiance. Definitely worth a visit!

The Ciudad Deportiva de Riazor is a multipurpose sports complex that includes a soccer stadium capable of accommodating 34,600 seated spectators and occasional live concerts. It serves as the home to the Real Club Deportivo de La Coruna, a professional soccer team from Galicia, Spain. The Estadio Riazor was rebuilt in the 1940s due to being too small for the growing club's needs.

Great stadium to watch a match in the middle of a beautiful city! Any seat is good and there are plenty of stands and bathrooms so you don't have to walk too far away from your seat. Totally recommend although the home team is currently in 3rd division (as of 2023),they have quite a history and we're even Liga Champions twenty years ago! It's livy to watch a match and watch seagulls fly by! Tip: bring something to cover your seat as they are often wet and/or a bit dirty.

Love the idea of trophies in the teams shop for fans to have photos. The ground itself needs a few €€ spent on it.

What a night! The stadium was easy to get in and out off. The game of rink hockey was amazing and Liceo won which made for an amazing atmosphere. The acoustics in the arena meant that 4,000 people sounded like 90,000 people. Safe to say I am hooked on rink hockey and will be looking for a local team to cheer on back in England.

The stadium is not so big. it's quite close to the city center so quite easy to access and it's surrounded by many cafes/restaurants
Have visited the souvenirshop and you can see the trophies deportiva even won.
Not so many people there to visit as you may expect for now but looking forward to see them coming back to first division.
