The Wuppertal Schwebebahn is an iconic feature of the city, operating since 1901 and considered one of the most remarkable transport systems globally. This suspension railway winds its way through Wuppertal, about 12 meters above the streets and the Wupper River. With 20 stations, it offers a unique way to explore the city and enjoy scenic views.
The Wuppertaler Schwebebahn is a suspension railway in Wuppertal, Germany. Its original name was Einschienige Hängebahn System Eugen Langen. It is the oldest electric elevated railway with hanging cars in the world and is a unique system in Germany, with 20 stations and operating since 1901. Hop in one of the stations, ride across the city and over the river enjoying the views. Stop by Hauptbahnhof or Ohligsmühle stations and explore the surroundings and many attractions. Visit the Schewebebahn website for details and planing your visit.

This is one unique experience. Gliding above the city on the suspended railway was both scenic and efficient. A must-try attraction for a memorable visit to Wuppertal.

Great little gem! It is fun, easy activity to enjoy for young and old. It comes every 5 minutes, so it's very convinient.

Amazing suspended railway. Dispite being so old the trains running on it were brand new and air conditioned. Dirt cheap only cost 10euros for the 4 of us on a day ticket.

If you're a fan of railways this is one to cross off your #bucketlist. It's an amazing experience - highly recommended! 👍

Clean, on time, convenient schedule (comes quite often), and gets you close to places to see in the Wuppertal area. I was also pleasantly surprised at how smooth the ride was, as I tend to get motion sickness.
If you have the €49 monthly Deutschland Ticket, it is included.

So unusual public transport which can be used for sightseeing. We went full route one way and back and I enjoyed it a lot. For ones who want to do sightseeing on this transport, better to set at the end of the last wagon.

We did it just for the experience. At the back there is a glass side with an amazing view. If you get on at the beginning /end of the line, you can ride the whole line while sitting at the glass side

Great experience! The transportation you cannot find in any other city in Germany besides Wuppertal. Worth it to try and have a look at the city from inside the Schwebebahn.

You need to have a ride on the suspension train in Wuppertal, otherwise you have not enjoyed the real thing the city has to offer. Take a lovely ride literally hanging over the city and let the sights go by. Beautifully designed stations, a real scenic experience. One for the bucket list
Eswiss64 — Google review
It's worth visiting the city for the Schwebebahn alone, if you like unusual transportation equipment. The rest of the town is very uninspiring and passable, however.

Super cool! At first when it starts driving, you have a weird feeling. You can feel it in your tummy that you’re in the air somehow 😝 but you get used to it very quickly tho.
Only negative experience is the ticket buying. If you’re not familiar with the city and don’t speak German, it’s a real struggle. In my opinion, they have to review their system and make it easier for tourists to buy their tickets
Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden is a park featuring stunning sculptures created by founder Tony Cragg and other artists. The park also includes a 20th-century house which offers guided tours for visitors. However, the entry fee of 12 euros may discourage some individuals from visiting this fantastic place. It is recommended for art enthusiasts who will appreciate the artworks on display, while non-artists may need to muster up courage to spend money to become art lovers.
This is a lovely place, with beautiful buildings and forest paths. A great place to walk around and explore the forest and sculptures.
I would say if you take your time it takes 1.5hr to 2hrs to see everything.
The price is a little high but you can come and go throughout the day if you wanted to leave for a coffee.

Absolutely best experience possible experiencing sculptural art in Wuppertal and probably unbeatable in Germany

The whole place is aesthetic and wonderful if the weather is pleasant. You can take your time there to really delve into the art.
The place also has several places to sit down and chill out for a bit and the whole ambiance is just calm, quiet and peaceful. I loved it. Perfect for a nice peaceful day.

Fantastic place! You can come to see great art from Tony Cragg or interesting new exhibitions with some famous artists , spend all day with your family and friends , attend the concerts in a summer time , check delicious food, great atmosphere and positive emotions!

A spontaneous visit having seen that there was an exhibition of works by Anish Kapoor. There are some excellent sculptures, including a Henry Moore and a Miro. We only had an hour before closing but could easily have spent at least double that time exploring the exhibits.
It isn't for the faint hearted and not suitable for anyone with limited mobility. Accessible by steep roads and then a network of steep, rough paths but well worth a visit.

Beautiful amenity in Wuppertal. Amazing Sculpture Park with many monumental Sculpture pieces from Tony Cragg to Henry Moore to Sean Scully. The park restaurant serves delicious food, deserts and coffee with excellent service.

The sculptures that adorned the space were nothing short of extraordinary. Each piece exuded a remarkable level of artistry and craftsmanship, captivating the attention and engaging the imagination. The selection and placement of these sculptures demonstrated a keen curatorial eye, further enhancing the overall aesthetic experience.

A bit of a hike. Definitely not PWD friendly. Price to enter the full exhibit was 12€ per adult. Good price considering what you get.
Kathryna de Bustos — Google review
I think it’s the most unique place in Wuppertal. It’s amazing to walk between artwork of Tony Cragg, Henry Moore, Miró and other artists. Expect to spent approximately two hours to see all the sculptures. The museum has a shop with various books and the most interesting thing is they sell honey which comes from the bee hives located inside the park. There’s also café outside of the park. You need to walk uphill or park your car few minutes away from the entrance.

Was a very big park, i didn’t expect it to be that big! Only the walk to the park was so stunning, so much view over the city!

I think its a great park with amazing art. What discourages people from going in is the rather steep price of 12 euros.
I genuinely believe that the price should reduce a little so that more people visit this amazing place.
people who are interested in sculpture: you will love this place
people who are not artists: you will have to be brave enough to pay that money so u become art lovers.
Der Grüne Zoo Wuppertal is a well-established animal park that houses almost 5000 creatures, consisting of large felines, primates, tapirs and penguins. It is highly renowned for its varied collection of fauna from all around the world. The zoo has been established for many years and has become a popular tourist destination due to its impressive animal inhabitants. Visitors can see an array of animals in their natural habitats and learn about conservation efforts through educational programs offered by the zoo.
We bought combined tickets with schwebebahn trip, I recommend it, as the price is definitely better.
The zoo is very clean and animals look like they really care about them. It’s recommended even for smaller children as they can provide special carriers on wheels for them.
Also, you can find a nice place to grab some food and another one to have a break a to have a drink and to relax.
Natalia Nica — Google review
Not a very large but logistically well-thought-out Zoo. The paths are very comfortable and nice, and the places with animals are well-kept and designed so that they can be viewed from different angles, while leaving them a lot of freedom. The zoo does not have a huge number of species, but the most "popular" ones will be found here. Free parking nearby, inside you can eat some typical fast food and ice cream. Tickets purchased online do not need to be printed. The price, however, is a bit high for what the place offers. Overall, I recommend a visit.
Bartosz “Void loop” Machaj — Google review
It's a good place to spend your weekend. Childern aged 6 to 14 pays only 1,70€ as entery Tickets. The zoo is a bit mountainous, which means uphill and downhill, so be ready to have some exercise.
Raza Shah — Google review
It's such a beautiful zoo for such a small town as Wuppertal! The animals are in very nice habitats and seem to be well taken care of. All the facilities are so nice! I recommend for a nice walk with family and kids.
Bistra Arnaudova — Google review
Nice and green city zoo. They have a nice collection of animals with some really nice species (like African Elephant, Tarkin and Snow leopard). The exhibits are nice but a little bit on the small side. It's also notable that some parts of the zoo are old. We where visiting on a public holiday, but even though it was busy it didn't feel crowded.
Atze Witteveen — Google review
A lot of cages with no animals could be seen. They just left the hole towards their inner room opened so that the animals can just go to the back, and when they do that, what are we supposed to see? Plants? So, is this considered a zoo or a botanical garden? The price is not that cheap too compared to other zoo and it's variety of animals are so much less. So, for value of price for this zoo is the lowest among the zoos I went before.
Wen Yuan Chan — Google review
Loved this zoo. It’s huge. One has to walk a lot so wear comfortable shoes and clothes. There are some slides and playing areas as well for kids to play while you rest or eat something. Also, you can plan to ride in suspension rail the day you plan on going to zoo.
Nupur Jain — Google review
Fantastic day out with family!
Kids had so much fun looking at different animals and reading about them. Information boards included English language which was a big plus for us!
The zoo has a few small climbing playgrounds around the place and another massive one.
For me the leopards looked quite unhappy/unwell.
Zoo is full of sloped hills, so was kind of tough pulling/pushing a wagon up and down.
Free car park next to the stadium but can be tricky to find a free spot; (again it’s a steep hill from parking to zoo entrance).
Tickets were €18.50/adult and €1.70/kid.
Definitely visiting again soon.
Mella A — Google review
If you want to be surprised by the lack of animals, then this is the place to go! Elephants were great and so were some of the other animals. Playgrounds in the zoo were great for the kids. Too bad so many cages and fields were empty dus to some changes in the zoo.
The Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal GmbH is a grand city hall that was built in 1900 and now serves as a concert hall for chamber music and performing arts events. Situated in the beautiful city of Wuppertal, this amazing old town hall offers outstanding performances and spacious parking in front. With fast and friendly Garderobe service inside, it's an excellent location for events.

Paulo da Corte — Google review
There's nothing to argue about how beautiful the building is. The organization of orchestras though, is disgusting.
My family and I wanted to visit a free orchestra. On the homepage it was stated that it is free and no registration was required. Once we came for the event and admission has started, an announcement was made to pay for a closet, to put in your jackets and backpacks, as this would be required in order to enter.
Halfway through the admission, when not even 3/4 from the audience has entered, an announcement was made that the event is booked out and none may enter anymore.
What about the people who already paid for a closet? What about the people who paid for parking fees? What about the people who came extra from another city?
It is clearly not the person's fault. You (the host) should AT LEAST, implement a registration system in your website, even for free events, to avoid an overbooking. This could easily be done via digital QR codes or anything, to avoid that people travel all the way to the hall, just to get thrown out.
There were people cutting the line and there were serveral physical situations. Where was the security? Why was none at least there to form a queue, especially since you knew that overbookings would be possible?
To my opinion it is not right that such offerings are poorly organized, especially as these are hosted in the townhall and represent our city's abilities.

one of the worst price/quality ever see of all opera houses I have visited accros the world
Categorie 1 and 2, between 60 and 90eur.
1 raw (90eur), you can't see the scene because of some loudspeakers and because you are much below the scene level.
Nevermind, we take category 2 (60eur), here again, about. 30% of the scene not visible !
Accoustic is, well, not even average. not a live orchestra, but only stereo loudspeakers. ok can be accepted but not when the sound quality is so limited.
Dancers and singers are rather good. but. the scene is too. small for them to really express themselves.
for 90eur....
I came with my daughters and we had such a nice time. He speaks a little English and is very nice! So fun for families visiting! Close to the zoo! Great night out! Perfect amount for time for children!

Well curated artworks and beautiful architecture! I especially liked the Dutch Golden Age exhibition. Some of the supervisors took their job a bit too seriously and followed you wherever you went, especially when you were alone in the room— this, unfortunately, made the visit a bit uncomfortable as I was not able to take proper notes due to being watched excessively. The woman who supervised the Dutch Golden Age part of the museum was very friendly and knowledgeable though and I really enjoyed chatting with her about the paintings. I can definitely recommend this museum and the current exhibitions. If you are a bit younger than the usual audience (old people to sum it up), be aware that the guards might have some distrust in you for no apparent reason and will follow you around a bit too much than necessary.

From my experience in many galleries, not only in Europe, I have to say that I consider it extremely rude, unprofessional, and even fraudulent if a gallery charges full admission even when some of its exhibitions are inaccessible. This art museum is mediocre and boring. A city as beautiful and dynamic as Wuppertal deserves much better. If this were a commercial event, I would ask for a refund of the entrance fee.
Don't expect much, and hopefully, you will be satisfied. Have high expectations, and you will experience equally high disappointment as I did.

I had a very unpleasant experience. I bought tickets directly at the museum. As I started visiting the museum, many of the exhibits were for "members only". There were no signs on the rooms, so you kinda of discover that you are not welcome only when a staff start asking you to leave (not in the nicest way...).
Nobody at the entrance informed about a "Limited access" or that on the day after there would be the possibility to visit the whole museum at a higher price.
The information on the artwork is available in German only.

Extremely annoyed and annoying staff looking like we really bothered them by visiting, esp. the ladies in the section on Dutch painting. I haven't met such rude and ill-mannered museum staff in a very long time. Just a suggestion - if you keep the museum closed to the public, no-one will keep the custodians from chatting, browsing and commenting on Facebook, the paintings will be secured and visitors would not have to get such experience when they simply want to enjoy art.
Petr Gibas — Google review
A wonderful experience overall. I am usually not interested in contemporary art, but it was definitely worth walking through. As for the classical paintings, many of them were locked behind a glass and were not available for the public to be seen. The ones on display on the first floor however took my breath away. Just like at other museums in the NRW region, I found the occasional Monet and Van Gogh on the wall, without any visitors looking at them. I wish more people were interested in treasures like these, even if it meant less uninterrupted time for me to admire them. Despite previous feedbacks, the staff was also friendly.

An excellent and very clean place for family trips or for lonely contemplative hours. This place is also suitable for bicycle tours. Lots of lawns where you can enjoy the sun and sunbathe. In this park you can also walk with dogs who like to swim with the fish in the pond))

A very beautiful private park owned by the Vorwerk family that you can visit. Since it's uphill and downhill here, you should be able to walk well.
The rhododendron bushes are currently blooming in all colors.
During my visit, a heron was lurking by the pond for prey. There are several viewing points on the pond at different heights and some seating.
In general, the park looks very well maintained and is located right next to the Murmelbachtal, which you should also visit; it is definitely worth it for anyone who likes to spend time in nature.

A beautiful park which makes for a nice family walk with the dog, or a romantic stroll. It is a fairly popular place so on nice days there can be a lot of people. It is a well maintained park although although there isn’t any toilets around or a place to grab a drink or snack, not that I could see anyway and I spent about 3 hours here. I would happily recommend anybody to visit here but also keep in mind it is not wheelchair or Aaccessibility friendly.

Beautiful park for nature lovers. I walked through the park with my dog, who is allowed into the park on a leash. We walked about 3.5km. Benches invite you to linger, few people sunbathe on the lawns and a circular path leads around the complex through shady forests. A stream flows through the park from which the dog drank. I really liked the facility.

Brill is located on the eastern slopes of the Nutzenberg hill and is known as Germany's largest contiguous villa district. This opulent residential area was fortunate to have escaped significant damage during World War II. The neighborhood boasts around 250 listed houses, most of which were constructed in imaginative Art Nouveau styles at the beginning of the 20th century, blending Neo-Gothic, Neo-Renaissance, and Neo-Baroque elements.
The Bronzeelefant "Tuffi" is an iconic historical monument that holds significant cultural value. This landmark, known for its bronze elephant sculpture, represents a tangible piece of history. The statue itself portrays an impressive artistic rendition of the majestic elephant species. It stands as a testament to mankind's appreciation and fascination with these magnificent creatures throughout the ages. Its presence serves as a constant reminder of our rich past and the importance of preserving such remarkable landmarks for future generations to admire and cherish.

Schloss Lüntenbeck is a Baroque moated castle located in Wuppertal's Vohwinkel district, just seven kilometres west of Elberfeld. Its history dates back to the 13th century, and it acquired its current design after the Thirty Years War in the 1600s. The castle features a two-and-a-half-storey keep with dormer windows and a substantial Baroque tower situated within a spacious courtyard.
Always a pleasure to visit this place. The perfect location to recharge your batteries and enjoy the quiet. The restaurant has a nice terrace, so you can sit the sun. Behind there is a lake.

The castle grounds and the structures are pretty. Nothing spectacular but i felt it was very pretty place to sit and relax in the midst of nature. Nice add on place when you are around Wuppertal.

The place is very nice, the Schloss area is beautifully organized. There are some sculptures made by a local artist (I'm guessing that because there is a shop in one of the buildings). In summer it must be truly beautiful :) 4 stars only because it's a bit deserted on a Sunday in winter time. There is a restaurant there, but it is closed in winter time, which is a pity.

The Christmas event seemed great once I saw it, but after a closer look, I've made a bad experience.
Firstly, parking was horrific. Understandable there was a parking lot available but it was very tiny, which lead up to no pariking space available at all and the vehicles had to park themselves off, each other. Right next to the small parking lot, was a huge empty field available. Which could've been used as a proper parking lot instead.
One of the entrance personal asked me straightaway to pay for the entrance harshly, even though I was a seller and had free entrance.
After having them to show proof and entering successfully, I would've enjoyed at least a small map, with locations where all vendors are listed. I've looked around after some time and when I explored one stand from a vendor but didn't wanna purchase anything (just look what things they offered), I've been immediately shouted to move away from "their" place.
I really appreciate that there are at least few attractions available (also for children) but the experience with the intern organization really destroyed the christmas mood for me there.

The city hall in Barmen Wuppertal is a very beautiful old building with a high tower. The facade of the tower is a fine example of the neo-romanticism of the time. Unfortunately it was hit by two bombs on 9.11.2001 and there were many injuries. The tower of the City hall has been repaired, but the facade is still in a bad condition.
The tower of the City Hall is very beautiful and well maintained. I like it in Barmen very much. It is a nice building, but there is also a very good view of the surrounding areas. Unfortunately there were a lot of people on the balcony when I shot this. I would have liked to shoot more pictures there.
When I moved to Barmen, I thought that this was a city that has a very bad history of bombings and I was right. There were two air raids in 1942 and 1945 and today it is still the centre of Barmen. There is a memorial dedicated to the victims of both air raids. After 9.

Very, very disappointing work. I won't say the name of the worker, but she, Frau T, was responsible for my case but I could never either get email answer or phonecall from her. My email is still unanswered until now for three weeks now. Never reachable with phonecalls for whole two months.
It was very important paper that I needed to stay in Germany for my baby son, but it seems like she doesn't really care.
Today my wife called another employee and wanted to ask how long it takes, and she said it's been there laying around for long time already. All the worries my wife and I made, for nothing. And this Frau T told us already that she will let us know if the paper is done.
So if you want somebody that really helps you and do the job for you, never give your case to this Frau T. She seems friendly. But she will ignore your emails and phonecalls. She will ghost you even though your paper is already there.
All things I can do is just write this review at google maps. I hope it helps others.
P.S) She is still unreachable until this very moment.
