Archipel des Sanguinaires is a remote chain of four islands, featuring a picturesque route to both a lighthouse and Genoese tower. The area boasts an enjoyable and straightforward trekking experience that's conveniently located within close proximity to the city. There are ample parking locations available nearby for easy access. The serene natural beauty of this location makes it truly unique and exceptional.

The Sanguinaire Archipelago is a majestic site, as beautiful in good weather as it is on darker days.
It is an unmissable site, not to be missed under any circumstances.
The highlight of the show is at sunset, the sunsets are magnificent.
A large number of people go there every evening.
The most beautiful moment is when the sun has set and is no longer visible above the sea.
I strongly advise you to stay another 30 minutes to really discover and appreciate these colors in the sky.
You can also take the very small path that goes up to get to the end to enjoy an even more majestic spectacle.

Capo di Feno is a must-visit beach near Ajaccio, offering a heavenly and unspoiled setting with smooth white sands and clear, shallow waters suitable for children. The beach provides lifeguards, ample parking, and several dining options. Accessible by car, it's a perfect spot to escape the crowds and enjoy a postcard-worthy sunset. While the road may be challenging, the magnificent view surrounded by nature makes it worth the effort.

The Fesch Museum, founded by Napoleon's uncle, boasts a vast collection of European art, specifically old masters. The museum is located in Ajaccio and offers visitors a unique historical perspective with its extensive exhibit of paintings and information on the iconic figure of Napoleon. This experience is not to be missed for those interested in both art and history.
Fantastic pieces of art and information
Eian Elwood — Google review
The only lasting impression is that the lightning ensures you can’t see the paintings because of the glare. In addition, ask whether the chapel is open before paying the entry fee.
Zachary Van Winkle — Google review
The chapel was included, but overrated; the actual museum was fantastic though! Recommendation for improvement is to either add a translation to the text (or a QR code).
What I loved about the museum was the depth of artwork it presented; it didn't have an overwhelming religious focus. Instead it sectioned each floor with a different focus: Corsica art in the basement, Napoleon Bonaparte and Bonaparte family on the ground floor, religious focus at the first floor that was mostly Christian themed, but did have some pagan themes, and everyday life artwork on the second floor.

It is hard to believe that this was part of a private collection, there is so much to see. We were fortunate to have an outside guide for an hour to explain some of the paintings to us which really provided an informed perspective and understanding of what we were looking at. Without that perspective, this would have been just another art museum.

Patrycja Pieńkosz — Google review
I really liked it here. My only criticism is the lighting. Some of the paintings had such a glare on them it made it impossible to see them properly. The big black sculpture, for example, shouldn't be in front of the window....the light behind it makes it hard to see. It would be nice to have translations in other languages even if it's via the internet using a QR code. Apart from that it's very clean and the staff were pleasant.

I visited the museum last Saturday during the open night therefore the entry was free. I saved 8€ entry fees. The lighting is terrible and the best paintings are not highlighted. However I recommend visiting the chapel next door.

The Maison Bonaparte is a national museum that was once the ancestral home of the Bonaparte family from 1682 to 1923. The building, where Napoleon himself was born in 1769, has been restored and now serves as one of four national historic museums dedicated to him. Visitors can explore the multilevel house and learn about its history, as well as gain insight into Napoleon's life and legacy through various exhibits.

If you're on the west coast near the capital, it's worth visiting Ajaccio for a day trip. In Ajaccio, you can find NapoRama, a unique museum that combines Napoleon with Playmobil figures to recreate scenes from his history. The museum also features Maison Napoleon, which was the emperor's childhood home and is now a museum. It's a great place to learn about Napoleon's battles through Lego-like dioramas.
Absolutely charming & delightful! The artist gave us a wonderful tour that was worth much more than the tiny price he charged for admission. He was absolutely wonderful with my non-French speaking kids and gave them his full attention even though he could have spent the time working on his craft. This is a hidden gem that should be on anyone's visit to Ajaccio who has an interest in Napoleon. (Expect 20-30 minutes for the visit if he gives you a tour, or 10 minutes if you're just taking a walk through his exhibit). I don't think he had a scene of Waterloo, in case you were wondering ;-)

Cathedral Santa Maria Assunta is a 16th-century Catholic church and baptism site of Napoleon Bonaparte. Its exterior seems unassuming, but its interior boasts baroque architecture with intricately designed stucco decor, albeit some of it chalked on - possibly due to budget constraints. The cathedral is well-lit by candles and houses a magnificent organ that visitors shouldn't miss. It's an incredibly peaceful place to visit and dine in, steeped in historical significance.

Very interesting little cathedral. Unassuming on the outside. Inside there is some beautifully intricate stucco decor, but a fair bit of it is chalked on - I wonder why? Budget cuts? Plenty of candles to light inside if you have recently lost a loved one/ are worried about your bowel movements following that dodgy sandwich you are next door. There is also a brilliant organ behind you as you walk in, so don't forget to look up and all around you.

The cathedral was closed when we were there, so that was disappointing. We also were surprised that the cathedral only takes up half of the block - it is rather small for a main draw.
