The Parc Natural del Montgó is a stunning natural park spanning 2,117 hectares and showcasing the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean region. The park features the imposing Montgo massif, which rises up to an elevation of 750 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views from its summit.
The Montgó Natural Park is very beautiful for hiking. In the Montgó Natural Park, the imposing Montgó Natural Park massif rises up to 750 meters above sea level, almost parallel to the coast, and dominates the entire municipality of Marina Alta. From the top of Montgó you can enjoy an extraordinary view. Bring flashlights when walking the routes to the caves and after sunset. Almost all routes are suitable for children, mountain bikers and runners. Mt Montgó is an imposing massif that rises majestically along the coast, overlooking the towns of Javea and Denia. The nature reserve dominates the skyline in the northern part of the province of Alicante and is very popular with hikers and cyclists.

If you are planning to explore Montgó Natural Park, it's worth considering a visit beforehand to the Park Information Centre (in Bosc Diana park & gardens, Avenida de Joan Fuster).
Pick up a free leaflet with a detailed map of the park, showing the various walking routes plus relevant information (in Spanish) - distance, degree of difficulty, total ascent/descent etc.
There is a very useful 3D scale model of the park and surrounding area, with walk routes marked on.
Also, display boards with information about natural history, flora and fauna, key species etc.

Wild, beautiful, and preserved. These are still rare attributes, rare enough to be marked. Take your walking boots for a walk, one of these days these boots are gonna walk you to the wild life of Mongó

There is an awesome hiking route from the Harbour in Javea all the way up to the Lighthouse at the end of 'the elephants nose'. The route is not to difficult, but walking shows are required since you will be walking on rocks. Do make sure to enjoy the views.

Remember to take and use sunproof cream.
Water at least 1,5 l per person. Take a cap.
Up and down 4 to 5 hours, depends on your physical state. Don't start later than 3 pm unless you plan to spend a night there.

Parc Natural del Montgó is a beautiful place to visit with stunning views and breathtaking scenery. However, the rocks and roads can be challenging to navigate and are not an easy walk. Nonetheless, the park is definitely worth a visit for anyone who loves nature and enjoys hiking.

Great view and easy access. If you want to walk to the top the path is quiet dangerous and difficult but there is enough indications. Be careful of the changing weather.

This mountain called MontGó - which means Elephant - actually looks like an elephant, when driving by you can see its eye and trunk and of course the mountains shape of an elephant.. Driving over the mountain by car is great fun, several lookouts from which you have a great view over the sea and the small city's Denia and Javea.
Jeroen Appers — Google review
Loved the hike. There is a cave on the bottom called Cova de Tollada (or similar, I may be butchering it). You can apparently go pretty deep inside the darkness there but i didn’t venture.
Regardless, the hike before it is spectacular. True beauty to see the sun, sea and mountains in one place

Amazing views from the top, quite a climb allow 2 - 3 hours each way. The path at places can be very rough or close to the edge especially the summit climb. Even if you go half way the views are stunning!
The Denia Toy Museum is a charming exhibition showcasing antique playthings like dolls, metal cars and other toys made since the early 1900s. It is a small museum that offers free entrance to visitors. The museum not only displays the toys but also exhibits photographs of workers and creators which are quite interesting. Although the information provided is only in Spanish/ Valencian, it's still great for kids to show them what vintage toys used to look like.
Nice displays of children's toys and games, celebrating Dénia's history and heritage in toys & games manufacturing.
A printed leaflet (available in several different languages) explains more about this.
It is open daily, 10am-1pm & 4pm-8pm.
Free entry.

Lovely little free museum. I found the photos of the workers and creators just as interesting as the toy exhibits. It is small so don't expect to be there all day, and the information is only in Spanish/ Valencian.

Platja de les Marines is a renowned beach located at the base of the city, known for its popularity among swimmers, sunbathers and picnickers. It offers splendid views of the Castle of Denia and is highly recommended for children to enjoy. The beach has limited shopping options; however, it boasts several restaurants in close vicinity. During low season, dog walking is permitted on this beautiful and secure stretch of sand.
Great beach...

This has to be one of my favourite beaches in Denia. To the very fine sand and very low waves, this beach becomes ideal for families with kids of all ages, to the very young to older retired types. It has a laggon type feeling to it, with its sea calmness to very clear waters. In the month of August the sea temperatures can get very warm, not to say its not warm before the month of August, but that's when i start to go a couple of times a week. Ohh and did i mention it doesn't get very jam packed, but lets keep it that way.
This is a lovely place to visit , bit more expensive , we stayed at the marina in motorhome ,quiet a lot of motorhomes were there , not sure what would be like in summer as no facilities just bins when we stayed it was free , everywhere within walking distance ,we have been before so just a stop off on way home

Sometimes the bins are overflowing and the water is polluted by oil or diesel. I wouldn't swim in this marina.

Somewhere we've not ventured to before. We've done the otherside of the port but not this one. There were a few nice looking restaurants and cafe bars but they were all very quiet. It was lovely for an afternoon stroll in the sun. For those who fancy walking a bit more you can walk out to the Lighthouse then come back and relax on the beach ⛱️

THE WORST PLACE EVER! Service 0, food 0. Unfriendly and untrained for this job. Location is nice but the food and the staff is 0! Uncooked fish. Served without side dish with no explanation. Meals were not served at the same time. Ok just don’t go there!

Lovely stop right on the harbouring. Plenty of parking but no services.
Easily the most luxurious ferry I’ve ever experienced. Many thanks to the rear cafeteria employee who made mine and my young daughters trip full of charming memories. She was convinced we were flying first class, not on a boat. 10/10!

Great place to spend some time, whether you’re travelling out on one of the boats to the Balearics, or simply visiting town and want to have a drink or meal at the marina. Beautiful location.
As a tip, there’s plenty of parking at the marina, or if it’s busy, try parking on the other side of the marina at the south of the boulevard and there is a free electric boat to take you over to the main port area.

Good port with some services, clean and nice 👍 the latest addition has been a pit stop to refresh while you wait to get into the ferry with your car. Great idea, and a much needed service. I add a photo. 👏

Dishonest company!!!
I mean the Balearia company.
We bought, a few days ago, ferry tickets from Denia to Ibiza and return.
The ferry was suppose to leave at 9.00 a.m.
We arrived at 8.30 a.m. and they inform us that they closed the gates earlier, because another ferry was coming.
They also told us, that we can leave at 17.00, that is, after eight hours.
They also asked us for 20 euro more to change the tickets, even though it was their fault.
I mention that we paid 730 euro for 5 people.
Although there were at least 30 people in our situation they did not want to let us board.
If you want to travel with them, arrive two hours before to be sure.
I do not reccomend!
Vatasescu Florina — Google review
I put one star because I can't put it less, before I worry about writing a review... all lies to steal from one... they are wrong and do not recognize things, solution pay another ticket or you do not board... hahahahahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣... one once but no more this is disastrous, and they well know that if they make a mistake they can modify it but no, you have to cash in because new boats are worth money!!! Hahahaha ultimate time in this company!!!!
Really easy and nice walk. We did it with our dog. On a weekday it’s not busy with bikers so perfect for a free walk with dogs. Path is perfectly maintained with few interesting landmarks from old train rail. Probably too hot during the summer but otherwise perfect for all the cooler months

Nice to get off the road, although it is by its very nature relatively flat. In this part of Spain, because it goes through orange groves and wild boar love oranges, be careful after daylight.

The Dénia Via Verde follows the route of the old railway line between Dénia and Gandia.
The Via Verde is a very enjoyable greenway. It is all on the flat, on well-maintained hard surfaces.
It is suitable for walkers of all ages and abilities, cyclists, and for people in wheelchairs, throughout the entire route.
It passes through orange groves, and in the distance are the distinctive peaks of the Montgó Natural Park and the Sierra Segaria.
Along the route there are rest areas, viewing points and information boards.

Excellent find. A bit out of town to get to but magic when you find it as a tourist
Túnel del Castell, dating back to the Spanish Civil War, was built as an anti-aerial refuge and now serves as a passage connecting Denia's Old Town with another part of the city. Although not a typical tourist attraction, it underwent rehabilitation in 2011 and is now managed by the castle administration. The tunnel offers a glimpse into World War II history and provides an enjoyable short outing. Visitors can park near its north entrance or take a short walk from nearby areas.
A well preserved tunnel. Directly under the castle. Lots of historical information on the way through. This was used during WW2 for the residents to evacuate to. Worth a walk through, your only 2 mins walk from the castle.
Alex Webb — Google review
It's a tunnel, what else is there to say. It has a slight incline, is atmospherically lit / gloomy... Carved out of the rock...
Nothing to see or do apart from enter, walk, and exit... Which is what you want in a tunnel...
mark smith — Google review
Constructed in 1937 as an antiaerial refuge now is used to pass from one part to another of the city.

Interesting tunnel with a World War 2 history to protect population from air raids. It was an enjoyable short outing. Parking is available right at the tunnel’s North entrance but only for 10-12 cars. We parked on side street next to Mercadona with ample space available. Just a short walk from there. People rode their bikes and electric scooters through the tunnel as well as walkers. On the other end, take a right to Constitution Plaza with a church, several benches under trees, and restaurants. Look for the colorful plaque attached to the side of the building that gives some interesting history! See if you can find it!
G Griff — Google review
Loved Denia and thought this tunnel was delightful.
Beth Serrao — Google review
When visiting Denia the trip should include a walk through the tunnel and up to the old castle. Situated within the centre to the town the views are magnificent. The history of the castle and exhibits are not provided for in foreign languages which is disappointing but with a cover charge of €3 per adult and.€1 per.child, you can't go.wrong.

Immerse yourself in a captivating journey through history in an intriguing tunnel. As you traverse this path, you're led to breath-taking views of a picturesque marina and an ancient, imposing castle. This unique blend of natural beauty and antiquity creates an unparalleled, must-visit experience. Nestled in the heart of a charming Spanish town, it offers an enchanting escape from the usual tourist trails. Truly a hidden gem worth discovering!

Ideal for a short hill walk and though it is steep in a few places, it's very do-able. The tower is closed to the public but the area provides great views over the town and the sea.
Anthony Quinn — Google review
Here’s the thing - it’s an awful thing to rate a “mirador” anything else than five stars. And it’s not about the views, which are OK - the geographical location makes it a bit hard to enjoy them fully. Which is a bit of a surprise, because the ramp up is steep - if you’re a rookie, be careful; there is little shade on the way - suggesting the views are uninterrupted upstairs. The truth is, there are better views on the turn of the road leading up than the ones at the top - because of a relatively flat plains upstairs, you see a bit less than you’d expect.
That being said, is you have strong calves and a big bottle of water, it’s not a long hike up, and of you bring a sandwich, the silence makes it a nice picnic place.

Great "camino" from Denia to this old tower used for watching and protecting the area. Walking from Denia along the beautiful Las Rotas boulevard and going heavily upwards at the end till you reach the tower. I called this morning for information and the woman in the main reception was polite and professional. However, the woman in the reception of the sailing class was incredibly rude, aggressive, and completely unprofessional.
