The Museum of Torun Gingerbread, also known as the Living Museum of Gingerbread, is located in a renovated 19th-century granary designed to resemble a Renaissance bakery. It's dedicated to showcasing and educating visitors about the history of gingerbread production, offering interactive displays and workshops for making your own treats. The museum has three floors full of information, including exhibits on the process and ingredients used in gingerbread-making throughout history.
The museum tells the history of gingerbread making of Poland and also has interesting legends of gingerbread Kopernik. There is also a gingerbread workshop here where you can make your own gingerbread and take it as a memento. Very informative and interesting museum to visit in Toruń.

The museum was very fascinating! I never knew much about Pierniki however now I do. It was very modern and had some interactive sections. Was fun to read. And the English translation was great. Was very inclusive. Very easy to get to and well worth the visit.

For people who are interested in the history of gingerbread. It is the place to go! It has very detailed story to tell about ingredients of gingerbread, especially history of honey. For children it would be very educational and there are interactives to arouse their interest too.

Interesting bit of history about the city and its signature gingerbread. Workshop conducted in an interesting and humorous way. My only wish is that we had been able to make the dough ourselves instead of being given an already made dough. The museum had a lot of exhibits but most of them were wooden molds for the cookies. The descriptions were available in english and german. Good way to spend 1.5h with your family.

I had little expectations going to this place but I don't regret spending the time here
The exhibition is rather small but I think they have special tours that are probably more fun. You can get this musuem as part of a 5 museums ticket for the price of 60zl
It's very informative on the topic and targeted at both children and adults, the interactive part could be a bit boring for an adult, for instance the explanation on how ginger bread is made are pretty basic. The remarkable part for me was to see the moulds used to make the models on the bread, some go back to the 15th century
Expect a lot of kids around 😆

I did the gingerbread making course here which was a lot of fun. The instructions were in Polish which I don't speak 1 word of but I was able to follow things pretty easily. After that you do a tour but there was lots of information boards in English and at the end you get to eat the fruit or cake of your labours!

Three interesting floors of information. They do gingerbread workshops too but a real shame they only do them in Polish and not in English.
The Nicolaus Copernicus statue is a bronze monument in the Old Town Square of Torun, Poland, erected in 1853 in celebration of the astronomer and mathematician who was born and died in the city. The statue shows Copernicus wearing a scholars robe and pointing to the sky with his right hand, holding an astrolabe in his left.
Nicolaus Copernicus statue. It must to visit if you're in Torun.
The location is inside the Old Town.

Gorgeous location and statue! I found it very interesting that it is written in Latin as not to upset the Polish nor the German writing citizens. Best seen at night or early morning before the crowds.

The monument of Nicolaus Copernicus standing in the Old Town Square is one of the most important symbols of Toruń.
The monument was placed in its current location in 1853, making it the second-oldest preserved statue of Nicolaus Copernicus in Poland.
The figure of the eminent astronomer was cast in bronze and stands over 2.5 meters tall. The sculpture was created by Berlin artist Friedrich Abraham Tieck.
The Latin inscription on the pedestal indicates that the commemorated person is Nicolaus Copernicus, a Toruń native, who set the Earth in motion while halting the Sun and the sky.
It is challenging to capture a photo of Copernicus alone or against the monument backdrop without other accompanying individuals, as the statue is typically surrounded by tourists.

Old Town Toruń is a true architectural marvel and a treasure trove of history. The beautifully preserved medieval buildings, cobblestone streets, and charming squares transport you back in time. Exploring the narrow alleyways reveals a delightful mix of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, including the iconic Town Hall and stunning churches. The vibrant atmosphere, lined with cozy cafes, restaurants, and shops, adds to the charm. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a captivating stroll, Old Town Toruń is a captivating destination that will leave you spellbound.

Beautiful place for photos day or night. 😎 Nearby: for a few złotych, buy tickets and climb to the roof of the clock tower above Copernicus' statue. It's worth it! Such a view! You climb right past the bells that chime the hour. (Stairs aren't even, so be careful. It's an adventure!)

A place you must see in the oldtown center of Torun, it’s a amazing city that I could say one of the most beautiful city in Poland, even better than krakow and Wroclaw in someways. Hardly destroyed in WW2, therefore a lot of historical buildings survived. Torun also happened to be the hometown of Nicolaus Copernicus.

The House of Toruń Legends museum offers a unique and interactive experience for visitors interested in learning about the medieval history of the city. The museum features costumed performances and tours that depict various urban legends from around Toruń. In addition to these attractions, the museum also offers a variety of souvenirs for purchase. Both parents and children can actively participate in telling these stories through character play, making it an enjoyable place for families to spend time together.
Great interactive way of learning some of the Toruń's legends.

Pleasant place to spend time with family. One is placed in a basement full of rooms depicting some urban legends from around the Toruń. Parents and children are taking actively part in telling the stories as the character of each of them. The staff is friendly and know how to pull parents to play like a kid. I can recommend that place. One can also buy some souvenirs from town in this place.

Young people who do their best - as far as I know - in Polish only, to tell stories about Toruń. Lots of passion and devition cannot help tiny spaces and organizational awkwardness (e.g. travelling through narrow passages in darkness). Great for young kids, ok for older ones, can be boring and irritating for grown-ups.

The House of Nicolaus Copernicus is a museum that exhibits information on the life and work of the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who was born in the house in 1473. The exhibits include information about his theory that the Earth was not stationary at the center of the universe but instead moved around among the planets.
The house of Nicolaus Copernicus is a must to visit when you are in Poland, not only if you're in Torun.
This small museum revealed many secrets about the life of little Kopernika (Copernicus). If you want to learn more about history and see many old things, this place is worth to visit.
This museum has included new devices to learn the history. You can use many projector and use touch screen devices to learn about specific topic. This digital system is available in English, Polish, and Dutch language.

Nice museum with rich medieval exhibition pieces, decorations and especially nice medieval interior settings. Some thematic exhibitions eg. medieval shoes from Gdańsk archeological museum, space observation methods and telescopes construction, astronomical tools and facts from Copernicus life and work. Medieval medicines and cure methods. To really se all it needs about 1,5-2 hours. Clean toilets in the basement. Approachable ticket prices. Children under 7 will come in for free. I have enjoyed it much and can recommend it.

Great museum with cheerful and accommodating staff and terrific exhibitions. I was amazed how well everything was preserved and organised.
It was a pleasant upgrade that warmed my heart - being able to use not only a Polish audio-guide but also a Ukrainian one, with the full and perfect Ukrainian translation, and with a masterful audio recorded by the translator herself - the Ukrainian historian.
As I learned more about this wonderful cooperation, I would like to say an additional Thank You to all those who made it possible, first of all my own country's Embassy of Ukraine in Poland and Professor Historian Iryna Matiash, and, of course, the House of Nicolaus Copernicus and its Director Michał Kłosiński, and the Director of the Regional Museum of Toruń Aleksandra Mierzejewska.
Thanks to the staff, I also found out that the original of the portrait was temporarily joining an exhibition in the Town Hall and visit it as well.
I hope to visit the House of Nicolaus Copernicus again and see the extension of this marvelous cooperation when Polish Museums sound in my native Ukrainian ❤️🤍 💙💛

Ton of interactive areas with information (in English, Polish and German) so you don't need to have a guide (though I'm sure you'll learn more with). See multiple rooms of the medieval house, antique furniture, clothes, and archeological finds from Toruń (the screen even shows you where in Toruń the items were found).
The Invisible House is a tourist attraction that offers guided tours in complete darkness. This unique experience allows visitors to explore the world without their sense of sight for an hour, relying instead on touch and sound to navigate their surroundings. The tour is led by knowledgeable guides, such as Arthur who proved that disabilities do not limit one's abilities. The staff are friendly and reservations are necessary to visit this must-see destination which provides visitors with the opportunity to see the world from the perspective of those who are blind.
Arthur showed us around and what can I say?! He was incredible and proved that a disability was no obstacle to his ability! Removing the sense of sight for one hour is an incredible sensation. Trying to utilise other skills such as touch and sound was an amazing experience and is so unique. This is a highly recommended experience for people of all ages.

Excellent immersive experience that should move both your hearts and mind. The tour is structured (as it can be in the dark) , personal, enriching and heartfelt. The staff who works there speak really good English and were very helpful and friendly. I did not catch the name of the staff or the guide but I had an excellent tour at 17:00 today .
One feedback for suggestion would be maybe to allow guest to see the rooms or pictures normally (not in darkness) after the entire experience just because some of us may have struggled getting around and as a result missed out some of the experience . It would have been very enlightening to see what it actually was vs what we were experiencing.
Definitely recommend though ! Thank you to everyone at the invisible house today

A place where you can feel the life of those who cannot see but always remember that "Vision is not confined to the eyes; it resides in the mind and heart." We took the tour of the house with the help of the guide name Andrew in English language... Infact I felt that every member of the team was amazing... You should visit the house once... The house trip costs were 40 PLN but there are some reduced prices also which you can check on their website...
Although, it is suggested that timing of tours separated for English and Polish language can be made available explicitly on their website so that one can book tickets in advance and save the waiting time... But definitely if you can wait 30-60 min, its not a big deal...
Highly recommended...

I really wanted to love this experience but I end up being disappointed. Unfortunately, our guide was quite short with us. I don’t want to mention his name but he really wasn’t considerate of how challenging it is suddenly having to operate with no vision. My mum was at 2-3 occasions worried about tripping over in the darkness. The guide was not really appreciative of how difficult it can be for older person to move around in pitch black. He generally sounded irritable at times when we struggled to adjust to not using vision. It made us want to cancel the session and walk out. His inconsiderate behaviour tarnished the experience. Please be mindful that your guests aren’t familiar with moving around without vision, it can be scary and I would expect staff to be more understanding.

Constructed in the 13th century for protection, The Leaning Tower is a well-known edifice that has become a subject of legends. One such tale states that several centuries ago, a Teutonic Knight had an illicit relationship with the daughter of a wealthy merchant. As punishment, he was commanded to construct a leaning tower as penance for his sins. It's also believed that if you're a wrongdoer, maintaining balance beneath the structure would be difficult.
The Leaning Tower in Toruń is a medieval defensive Tower which owes its name to its considerable tilt. A legend says that the creation of the tower was connected with an offence of one of the Teutonic Knights from Toruń who, against the monastic rule, fell in love and dated a beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant. As penance for breaching the chastity vows, the knight was ordered to build a leaning tower as a symbol of his crooked ways and deviation from the strict , monastic rules.

It was a interesting looking place with a cool history. But if you don't have a previous knowledge of the place and if you don't speak Polish, you might not get much out of it. The W.Dziewulskiego Planetarium is a beautiful, large space that features shows on constellations, planets and galaxies as well as hands-on exhibits. It's a perfect place to learn more about the cosmos and gain an appreciation for our place in it.
One of the biggest tourist attractions in Toruń is Planetarium. It is the most technically advanced planetarium in Poland and due to its characteristic architectural design - the semicircular dome and rotunda shape, the building is easily recognisable among other structures of Old Town. I remember I was there with school as a kid and I was amazed of the performance. Now I came back after years and still was impressed of atmosphere. Book in advance on their website. I have no idea if they have also English performances.

Overall disappointing.

Great place for families with children. Movies are designed for children without too many scientific facts so it can be enjoyable for them. There is no cloakroom there what is a pity but from the projection people are coming out directly to the street. Make sure you have your mask on as many people ignore the risk and do not wear it inside coughing in the tight interiors. If you reserve your ticket online you have to buy it earlier than 15 minutes before the projection or you will loose it.

It's possible to pay in cash and using a credit card. During weekends all tickets are discounted to the price of a student ticket. The St. John's Cathedral in Torun was built during the 14th century and features a baptismal font from the 13th century. It is a brick Gothic church that underwent construction for over two centuries before its completion was halted at the turn of the 16th century. 🏘️ Several historic gems are:
- a historic manor house from the 18th century, built on medieval foundations (probably a Teutonic observation tower). The legend says in the place of the manor house there was once a temple of Venera, erected by the Roman legionnaire Thorundus – the legendary founder of Toruń,
- historic wooden villa laegnera with a unique polychrome paneling from 1900, moved in 2002 from Mokre district and restored
- an erratic boulder set in the memory of the garden's creator - Johann Gottlieb Schultz, with a characteristic bird figurine and Schultz's tomb.

The Muzeum Podróżników im. Tony`ego Halika is an unconventional museum that showcases adventure photographs, unusual folk objects, and art pieces. It is one of the five museums included in a 60zl ticket package, all of which offer fascinating experiences. It's a fountain! But it's also a picnic spot, with kids running into the fountain on hot days. Great fun if you bring your grandchild.

Very interesting combination of water fountain and various kinds of music e.g. classic, film, the Witcher etc. The water goes up and down in form of a rytmic dance to the music played over speakers placed around the square. Good fun.

Pieceful place to sit. Loverly fountain

The fountain refers to the famous work of Nicolaus Copernicus ‘On the Revolutions of Celestial Spheres’. The granite board of the fountain reads a Latin sentence and a diagram of the heliocentric system and the circles symbolising the orbits contain 100 nozzles from which water springs up. The central nozzle symbolising "the Sun" shoots water 5 meters in the air.
In the summer, in the evening hours the visitors can admire spectacular fountain performances of water, light and sound and it os the best time to see it.

Found fountain accidentally in evening walk and glad it happened so.
Car road is quite loud nearby, but if to move around fountain can find spot where the music sounds better.
Beautiful music, light and water show to enjoy. Mesmerising and calming.

spectacular in design, poor in execution; too close to the main road and traffic noise spoils the show; still worth experiencing, if one's around at the time

Nice quiet fountain with benches to sit on around, and best enjoyed at night with the lights on. If you get there at the right time music will play.

This could've been such a nice sight if parents just taught their kids that it's not okay to jump into the fountain while the lights&music show is going on. Nothing can be heard or seen as the kids are screaming and running through the fountain. There were several people waiting on the benches around the fountain for the show to start only to leave few minutes after the show started when they've realized they won't enjoy it... Big disappointment.

Amazing fountain which played music according to the water fountains. It was a hot day and a lot of children where playing in the water. Really nice to enjoy. Bring your own bathsuit and towel. And a good camera.

It has potential to be a great entertainment if customer service wasnt so bad. We were not able to buy tickets online. When buying at motoarena only one place accepted cards and only as a exception . They spent millions to build a venue but they cannot afford good ticket sales facilities. When we arrived Security sent us from one gate to another and we had to walk for 15 minutes before they let us in. No one directing traffic when leaving stadium parking lot. Great game though if youre patient enough to get inside the venue.

The Teutonic Castle ruins are a beautiful sight, and offer fantastic opportunities to explore underground. If you're visiting during "fat Thursday" fair, make sure to sample the complimentary doughnuts!
The castle in Toruń was one of the oldest buildings of this type erected by the Teutonic Knights. It began to be built around the middle of the 13th century. The castle wasn't captured by foreign invaders. However, it was destroyed by its closest neighbors - the townspeople of the Old Town of Toruń, who besieged the stronghold at the beginning of February 1454. The inhabitants of Toruń captured the castle and immediately proceeded to its planned and almost complete demolition. In the castle courtyard, a municipal garbage dump was arranged, which functioned here for the next centuries.Currently, the castle can be visited both from the outside and inside.

Great place but someone should rewrite all the info boards as are grammatically incorrect.
For the city famous for its education and universities English should be a basic requirement. Please employ an English translator.

Nice historical site, and very cool to see. Some of the signs weren’t in English, which was okay, but we couldn’t understand it. The underground exhibits were a little sketchy, and they used plastic mannequins that were a bit creepy. The remnants of the castle itself were cool to see.

To he fair we only saw these from outside. Nice to walk by but not much to it. I guess I've seen a fair share of ruins before so wasn't that impressed but they compliment the walk in the old city nicely.

Pretty cool place, not so much on the outside, but the inside looks extremely fun. Since most of the tall walls are all in ruins, you can't see much. But the cellar floor is nicely decorated. Do bear in mind most tables with text are in Polish with only a few that have English translation. There's also a room with some sounds that try to scare you, although it's possible that it's only here for the Halloween period.

Unfortunately, the place was closed, and the little that could be seen from the outside wasn't too promising. A great opportunity to restore this castle, which will add to this magnificent city.

This was a really nice surprise, there was much more to see and do than we expected and it was one of the favourite things we visited over our weekend in Toruń!

A very nice place to feel the 13th century of Toruń city. Easy to find and cheap (paid 20 PLN) to visit. Strongly recommended!

Really cool site. Lots of nice photo ops and a good history lesson. My only little complaint is that some of the signs are only in Polish which is fine if you use Google Translate. It isn't a huge complaint, just something to be aware of. I'ssay you need about one or one and a half hours to explore and read everything. Make sure you wear comfy sneakers to walk around since the ground is a bit rocky in places. Definitely add to your itinerary.

At first glance it might look like just boring ruins but once you enter the dungeons or walk the passage to the tower you start feeling the medieval vibe of the place.

We visited the ruins during "fat thursday" fair. We got complimentary doughnuts with our tickets. The ruins looked impressive but there wasn't much to see. We walked around the area and soon realised that that was it. There were different activities as part of the fair. Horseshoe throwing, knife throwing and archery. If it wasn't for that i think we wouldn't have had as much fun as we did.

For 10zl I was expecting a bit more than just a few rooms with some copies of "medieval stuff", but, as it turns out I skipped the underground part. Yet, on second thought, might be better I skipped it or I'd be giving this place one star.
It felt good to be in this place, it was even better that I was alone and on a cold November day. I liked the smell of old and the presentation of the ruins. A lot of the explanations in Polish are not translated into English, felt a lot was left out for foreigners. Some of the explanations are in Polish, German and English
Good place to visit overall, would be much better if more informative and less tacky
