Diga Sottomarina is a charming destination with shallow waters and slightly murky sea, perfect for spotting crabs. It's an ideal spot to leisurely explore the Venetian Lagoon or enjoy a refreshing run. The area also offers delectable dining options, making it a superb choice for food enthusiasts.

Beautiful city, and in my opinion nicer than Venice if you wish for tranquility and less commercial place to visit. Much smaller but has the canals, the alleys and the bridges.

The Vigo bridge is located in Piazzetta di Vigo, easily recognizable by the presence of the column on which the small winged lion stands and can be reached along the entire main street of Chioggia. It represents the balcony of the city and is the most artistic of the eight bridges that span the Canal Vena, the equivalent of the Rialto Bridge in Venice. It was built in masonry in 1685 under the mayor Giovanni Francesco Morosini and embellished in 1762 with Istrian marble, in place of the wooden one, over which they fought bitterly during the Chioggia war (1379-80). At the two entrances to the bridge, on the marble handrail, there are two small Marcian lions, with features very similar to the sculpture called the "gato de ciosa", which stands out on the Column of Vigo. There are some bas-reliefs with depictions of the Virgin Mary, dear to the local population and of the Annunciation. The Saints Fortunato and Felice, the two patrons of the city, are also represented. Once, when there was still no lighting system based on electricity, in the center of the bridge there was a lighthouse of considerable size, which had the task of guiding and orienting any navigators of the beautiful Chioggia lagoon.

The Vigo Bridge in Chioggia is an important landmark and attraction for several reasons:
1. Historical Significance: The Vigo Bridge, also known as Ponte Vigo, is a historic bridge that dates back to the 17th century. It has witnessed centuries of history and is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Chioggia, a picturesque fishing town in Italy.
2. Architectural Beauty: The bridge is a fine example of Venetian architectural style. It features elegant arches, stone balustrades, and intricate details that showcase the craftsmanship of the past. The bridge's design and construction make it visually appealing and a delight for architecture enthusiasts.
3. Connection to the Fishing Industry: Chioggia is renowned for its strong connection to the fishing industry. The Vigo Bridge serves as a vital link between the town's historic center and its bustling fish market. It is often lined with fishing boats, creating a unique atmosphere and offering visitors a glimpse into the local maritime traditions.
4. Scenic Views: From the Vigo Bridge, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Chioggia's canals, colorful houses, and the picturesque waterfront. The bridge is an ideal spot for taking photographs, capturing the beauty of the town's architecture and its charming Venetian atmosphere.
5. Cultural Experience: Chioggia is often referred to as "Little Venice" due to its similarities to its more famous counterpart. Visiting the Vigo Bridge provides an authentic experience of the Venetian lagoon culture, offering a quieter and less crowded alternative to Venice itself.
Overall, the Vigo Bridge in Chioggia is worth to visit because it combines historical significance, architectural beauty, cultural heritage, and stunning views, all of which contribute to an enriching and memorable experience for visitors.

Astoria Beach is a fantastic public bathing area that boasts an array of facilities such as volleyball courts, tennis courts, and even a designated dog play area. Visitors can also enjoy the luxurious amenities provided by cocktail bars and comfortable loungers situated on the sandy beach. To avoid crowds, it is recommended to book ahead, which provides ample space for visitors to relax in clean surroundings with helpful staff on hand. However, it's important to note that noise levels near the children's play area may be high.

We visited the beach area on our trip to Chioggia from the UK. By chance we found that you are better off booking the sun loungers and parasol online using the Bagni Perla app, this was very simple and easy to navigate. The beach was very crowded but knowing that we had booked our sun beds online relieved any stress of getting one. You walk in on the day, but we tried this at another beach, but was met with a negative reaction. You have all the amnesties and more that you could possible want, we used the Reataurant/Bar, the food, service and cost was outstanding.

It's a very good structure. There are slides and a playground for the kids, they are extremely well organised with parking and sunbeds to rent and generous with the spritz. There are plenty of showers and toilets and 2 bars to get food from.
Giving only 4 stars because they don't sell any suncream or other things that would be useful at the beach with the kids (inflatables or buckets). Overall great experience, we've been coming here for years and will never change

Sottomarina sea is better than no sea at all. Tanning is exquisit !
On the opposite side of the promenade is the Cathedral (Duomo) from the 17th century with many elements of earlier church that were there since the 11th century. Built by the famous architect Baldassare Longhena. The cathedral is dedicated to the saints of Chioggia patrons, Felice e Fortunato. The cathedral is beautiful in its simplicity and leaves a rich impression of monumentality. The altars were made by great Venezian masters Jacopo Palma il Giovane and Francesco Rosa. Next to the church is the bell tower, in the Romanesque style, the Tempietto (small temple), in which it is the oldest art work in the city, polyptych by famous painter Paolo Veneziano. Beautiful Cathedral.

It may be the covid effect, but I had never seen such an attention to hygiene in any similar establishment. The restaurant and toilets were spotless and the attendants raked the sand for rubbish almost every hour.
On the down side, (I appreciate it is not the establishment's fault but) I have to remark that the sea was quite dirty. Also, as is almost always the case in Northern Italy, the beach is quite crowded with tightly packed parasols.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, after years of going fishing with the comfort catamaran and after numerous positive reviews, I am forced to write a negative review. We went out fishing on Saturday morning 2 July 2022. It was immediately clear that the outing was intended only to make a good profit. The captain informs us of the various rules and says that it would only take us 30 minutes of navigation.
We only started catching something after an hour and only the usual horse mackerel and even small ones. It was immediately clear that the captain wanted to save money by avoiding traveling and consuming diesel. The meal was a pasta dish when usually fried fish and excellent fried polenta were also served. We pointed this out to the captain and he told us that they haven't made it for 5 years....that's not true as we ate it last year.
It was embarrassing for me to have accompanied 7 friends and be made fun of. 60 euros was a real steal for the service received. It is useless for you to post on Facebook about going out to the Abbot shoals during the week with mackerel catches and then actually taking us 30 minutes from Chioggia to catch at most horse mackerel and a few rare mackerel. Do you want to save fuel? Very good! You tell them when you leave and you get a discount of at least 10 euros each. Surely after years we will turn elsewhere....

Purtroppo dopo anni che usciamo a pesca con il catamarano comfort e dopo numerose recensioni positive sono costretto a scrivere una recensione negativa. Siamo usciti a pesca sabato mattina 2 luglio 2022.
Sicuramente dopo anni ci rivolgeremo altrove....

First time to this beach-- decided to try something new. Normally we go to the doggy beach in Lignano Sabbiadoro but this one was about 30 min closer (per Google Maps) Parking was easy (i think it was included with purchased of the umbrella/chair). Little bit of a walk, but not terrible. I waited at the Cassa to verify where i was supposed to go (lady was nice enough). When we got to our "Position 2" i was shocked to see: the dog beach is LANDLOCKED! I was looking around and I even asked the gentleman who showed me to the umbrella where the beach access was 🤦🏽♀️ VERY disappointed to say the least.... Maybe i shouldve done more research looking at the online maps....? No, I shouldn't have...who designed this space?!? Luckily I got a space close to the fresh water to refill my dog's water bowl but that's about the only positive I can claim. When we made our way down to the sea, it didn't seem like there was any actual separation between people and dogs...so why the hell are we secluded like lepers behind a tiki fence on the beach?! Am i missing something about this place?? Good for people, i guess, but for my super well-behaved puppers, this place is such a let down 😞 Oh and steep prices for what you get: €16 for 1 chair/1 umbrella or €24 for 2 chairs/1 umbrella....all without a sea view...just sand as far as the eye can see 🙄😒

The beach is clean and big - you don't have a impression of crowdy place.
But the organization and staff is giving much worse impression. There is no information on the beach that you have to pay to use the umbrellas or chairs. There is no clear information about prices. When we were nearby for the first time, we didn't know about that and used the equipment. After some minutes young man came and after I explained him that I don't speak Italian he only told me "you can't stay here". I asked him where I have to go and pay, but he was rude and did not want to help me. Then I spend another 15 minutes and had to ask several people where can I pay. In the end we have chosen another places on the beach to enjoy the sea.

Twice was enough, never again! Lifeguards plus staff who only cared about getting money for sunbeds and other services they didn't do. They sat in one place all day, talking to each other. If someone's drowning in there, it's not enough to even get there. Plastics and a mess that washed out of the sea were collected by tourists, no one bothered to clean anything from the staff, they didn't care about the mess on the beach at all, they didn't care about anything, I wonder why they were there when they are expensive even for free! The food was great in the restaurant, we just didn't understand why we had to wait a long time for everything and end up looking for the cash register ourselves and go pay for it. The waiter didn't bother to tell us for a long time, while he went to the other tables and the guests paid at the table. Worst-class buffet. Unpleasant young waitresses at the bar who were upset that we wanted something from them. And the worst ever experience leaving the beach... We showered, we were dred, and I wanted to go to the bathroom before the trip, when a local worker told me outside the toilet that I couldn't go in because I was a little wet. She was acting like a guard, screaming and being very unpleasant. She wouldn't let me in at all. Why does such a man work there? She doesn't know how to treat people, and it felt like she was waiting for me to give her some money. I don't understand the operator of this beach who chose this staff, probably picked the worst, because nowhere else in Italy have we had such inconveniences! We'll never go back there, and we'll warn other visitors.

Generally I do not like beaches with sunbeds and umbrellas but this place was clean and not crowdy.

I parked at Aldi for shopping. Unfortunately, I was charged for free 90min parking. Perhaps it only applies to any time outside of August.
