Spiaggia Pittulongu is a stunning beach located not far from Olbia. Visitors can enjoy sun beds, snacks, and various water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and surfing in the crystal clear blue waters. While it may be chilly in May, the beach provides an amazing view of incredible colors regardless of the weather.
Just come back from a weeks stay here. It is a beautiful island not very touristy at all. The beaches are stunning with clear water brilliant for snorkelling. It is a little gem of a country, so much to explore. We hired a car and went round the north of the island where there are some stunning beaches. Just a couple of points, people don’t speak much English so it is worth learning a bit of Italian before you go. Our apparently universal travel plugs did not work over here so worth checking you have the correct plugs. Car parks are quite expensive by the beaches 2.50 euros an hour. There are very few sun beds on the beaches, most italians bring their own travel chairs. If you do find sunbeds they are 25 euros for 2 for the day. Food is fantastic, but not much meat on the menu. If you like fish and vegetables like I do you will be very happy

Really beautiful beach not to far from Olbia. We were unlucky with the weather when we went as it was very windy but I can imagine how nice it would be in good weather
Do not make the mistake and walk from Olbia as we did as there are no footpaths, best to get the 04 bus

Overall the beach itself is ok. Pros is the fact that the sand area is long and spacious giving you plenty of space to lay out; there are a couple of beach clubs to get food and drinks; umbrella and chair rentals; nice swimming sand bar type beach; and public bathrooms available. There is a lifeguard stand to ensure safety of your little ones. Cons … the area itself is not the Sardinia beauty you come to expect from its white sandy beaches considering its in front of a residential area; the locals like to sit really really close to each other and you so be ready for a lot of loud talking around you.

amazing beach! beautiful clear blue waters. had a great time. there’s beach chairs with umbrella available for rent at 20euros at mama beach restaurant (cool restaurant too!). weather’s quite chilly for May by the way 😬

If you want a quite and peaceful day, then this beach ain’t for you. Pittulongu is a sandy and family friendly beach close to Olbia city center. Bus number 4 stops 2 min from the beach and takes around 20 min from Olbia. Be aware that it can get pretty crowded on the ride back.
This beach is quite popular so be ready to get there early if you want to snag a good spot. There are also sun beds to rent if you prefer that. A few restaurants along the beach that seemed popular, although we didn’t try them. Many vendors roaming around.

Very peaceful big enough. Has enough space to put umbrellas. Has lots of restaurant around if you need food. Free parking and water is clean and not too deep.

Regardless of the weather, the colours are incredible. Also beautiful in summer, clear water and not too crowded during the week.

Beautiful beach just outside of Olbia. Very easy to get to by car. There are two free car parks but watch out as the car park itself is full of seawater in places and also very uneven. We went in October so the beach was not crowded at all. The beach is very clean. Coarser sand which is then very fine when you get into the sea. Very clear waters and shallow for a good few metres. Lots of fishes swimming near to the shore that you can almost touch them! Beach itself is free - you have to pay for the toilets/showers. A couple of restaurants are along this beach.
Sue To — Google review
Not the nicest- the water was the murkiest we have seen during our holiday so far, and spotted a jellyfish. It was really busy. I wouldn’t go back here. I think perhaps its popularity is down to its proximity to Olbia.

Spiaggia Pittulongu is a long, sandy beach located in Olbia, Sardinia. It is a popular destination for swimming, sunbathing, and windsurfing. The beach is backed by pine trees and has clear, blue waters.
There are a number of restaurants and bars located near the beach, making it a great place to spend a day in the sun. The beach is also a great place for families with young children, as the water is shallow and calm.
Marcin Siwicki — Google review
This is the first Sardinian beach I saw and it was a nice encounter with the crystal clear water that is typical for Sardinia. The beach has a big opening to the sea and that is why the water could easily become too wavy. The beach is also a bit commercial, but it has two options, both renting a beach chair or putting your own towel on the sand. If you have many days on Costa Smeralda, I recommend visiting it and eating on one of its restaurants which have tasty food. The town/village of Pittulongu offers you the option to see at least 5 very beautiful beaches. If you don’t have so much time on Costa Smeralda, I recommend skipping it and focusing on other small beaches such as Pellicano which is nearby. The bus ASPO no. 4 connects all the beaches, but pay attention to the hours of the bus, because it passes rarely and only until 8 p.m.
Veronica Isailă — Google review
This beach is about 20 minutes from the city center of Olbia, take the bus number 4 ( you can buy a weekly pass for all the busses for 10€ in a Tabachi shop). Busses are always running and not too crowded. The beach is spacious, crowded, but its easy to rent a chair and a umbrella, but carefull, there are two places to rent, the blue chairs are much more cheaper than the brownich ones... crystal clear water, thin sand beach, water around 22 and 24 degrees in July. I recommend a visit, very beautiful beach.

Large beach with clear water. Sand in the water without rocks or algae. Clean and mesmerizing.
Best beach in Olbia in my opinion.
Minh Quentin NGUYEN — Google review
Crowded, but we managed to find available sun beds and umbrellas - far from bars though. I'd recommend to bring your own umbrella, because it's quite pricey to rent one and more crowded in this area and there is no natural shadow. Otherwise water was unimaginably clear, sandy beach is great and view is amazing, all the facilities needed are available. Also a lot of parking space and good bus connections.

Lovely beach. With a bit of sea grass in the entrance but after that amazing cristal blue waters
Saint Simplicio is a Catholic church that was constructed primarily during the 11th and 12th centuries. One of its notable features is a petite bell tower, alongside frescoes in the apse.
Lovely place, the architecture is incredible, when we got there there wasn’t much people, so we could analyse in detail all aspects of the church. There is something special about churches such as this.
Otniel Trifu — Google review
This is an eleventh century church and was, for a Catholic church, extremely low key. Built of granite and with almost no interior decoration or side rooms it was quite a shock. Normally we spend quite a while in these buildings and take loads of photos but I actually took more in the cafe we went to, just across the piazza. There is an underground car park below the Piazza and we were intending to visit the necropolis there too but it was closed.

This is a beautiful old church next to a huge piazza.
Huge blocks of stone and tall pillars make it an impressive sight and well worth a visit
Tenute Olbios is a winery that offers wine tours and tastings. The knowledgeable staff take visitors down into the cellars to see the winemaking process firsthand. Tasters are offered a variety of wines including white, rose, red, and sparkling options. The winery also provides platters of meat, cheese, and fruit for guests to enjoy alongside their wine selections. Visitors can expect excellent customer service from friendly and enthusiastic employees who speak fluent English.
Really enjoyed our visit. We had a tour and tasted their sparkling wine, then had three wines and a platter of meat, cheese and fruit. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English so we could understand more about the wines and the winemaking process. Thank you very much.

A fantastic experience at the Tenute Olbios winery / cantina. Whilst booking is advised, we arrived and were incredibly fortunate to be able to join a tour with not long to wait. There are a range of tour packages, which vary in how many glasses of wine you get with your tour and what food.
The tour itself into their cellar was incredibly interesting and it was great to hear about their processes into making their fermenting variations, as well as their delicious sparkling wine - and to learn about and actually see their riddling racks (pupitres). We did the basic tour priced at 18.50 EUR which comes with a glass of their sparkling Vermentino wine, which was superb.
The winery is a beautiful location with a really relaxing building for visitors, above their wine cellar. The staff and owners were very friendly and welcoming, and this is definitely worth a visit!

Mixed feelings about this one.
We were there for the degustation with a taxi. Spent 60 euro just for Taxis and 80 euro for 4 100 ml glasses of wine each.
I would say it’s way overpriced to go there for degustation. Would rather go and just buy the glasses of wine. It would be way cheaper.
Also the “lunch” they had was just a poor plate with super tiny fruit and cheese.
I wouldn’t go there for this price

We book a wine tour and tasting in February. The place was very quiet, but the staff made us feel very welcome none the less. The tour was facinating with lots of interesting information about the specific terroir and grapes used as well as about the innovation approach the take to wine making. The tasting was great as well and both of us found different favorites. Bought a few bottles as well to take home.

Fancy surroundings is what you pay for. We paid for glasses of wine and got tiny pours like a tasting. Their 'calling card' was a good white, but expensive. Others were mediocre.
Do not recommend.

Booked a wine tour here with one days notice, for €15 each we were taken around by a very knowledgeable individual who showed us down into the cellars. We also had a taste of 3 wines (white, rosè, red) and had a sharing plate of cheeses and salami. Would definitely recommend, lovely setting.

Necropoli San Simplicio is a fascinating archaeological site located beneath the square of the Basilica of San Simplicio in Olbia. It comprises over 400 tombs dating from 200 BC to 300 AD, discovered during redevelopment work near the basilica. The necropolis can be accessed via Gabriele D'Annunzio and offers visitors an immersive experience with an audio guide providing historical insights.
Nice and interesting archeological site under the Baslica San Simplicio. The entrance is in the parking garage below. Opening times are on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10.00 - 13.00. You will get an audioguide with information.

A really fascinating short tour underneath the Piazza San Simplicio - accessed through the car park (follow signage for the car park / parcheggio, take the stairs down and turn left). Tickets to the Necropolis are purchased at its entrance (underground) and not in the actual car park.
An adult ticket is 5 EUR which comes with an audio guide (English, French, German, Italian) and earphones. The tour round the archaeological excavations takes 15-20 minutes, and was really fascinating and full of information and description. Aside from the audio guides, there is also signage with information, photos and maps along the tour.
It’s a very interesting and key piece of Olbia’s history, and the site and discovered artefacts have been well maintained.

(Translated by Google) Couldn't see this beautiful museum. Why? Didn't have the Green Pass on my phone. But "only" the internationally recognized yellow vaccination card with even 3 vaccinations against Covid 19. I have been in Sardinia for 2 weeks. Everywhere in all museums there were even grottos, at Germany and Milan airports the vaccination card was enough. Staff didn't speak English, I didn't speak Italian. Unfortunately, never learned. So I had to pull it off again. Staff should be able to speak some English and also the yellow vaccination card. It's a shame so no recommendation

It is accessed from via Gabriele D'Annunzio and, once the visit is over, you exit directly onto the churchyard. This new museum area of the city of Olbia houses part of the finds made in the archaeological excavation of 2011, carried out during the redevelopment works of the spaces in front of the basilica. The excavation revealed 450 Roman tombs, two Greek wells, countless funerary objects, a lime kiln, a medieval tomb and a flight of stairs that led to the temple of Ceres. In this small but precious space you can observe a stratification of extra-urban cult phases and necropolises that are distributed over 2000 years, from the Phoenician period to the Middle Ages.

The Castello di Pedres is a medieval fortress in ruins that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape from its top. The castle can be easily located with the use of GPS and provides parking for cars. Additionally, the site also features an interesting attraction - Tomb of The Giants. A magical place on a full moon evening!
Although only the tower remains of the ancient castle it's still worth a visit, if only for the magnificent view of the surrounding area from the top of the hill. Please bear in mind that there's quite a number of steep steps to get to the top of the hill and back down again. So a decent level of fitness is suggested.

First stop was Pedres castle, built on a hill about 10k from the city and now overlooking Olbia airport. It's a fairly simple route from the city and there is a large car park. The last 500m of the road are a bit dodgy so just take care. This is a thirteenth century Pisan castle on a steep hill with commanding views. Very little is left other than one tower but there are traces of other buildings and walls within the forest surrounding the castle. The route up is actually quite pleasant, through the forest and follow the stone steps, taking 5-10 minutes. It was still sweaty work though! We watched several planes arriving or departing from the airport and just enjoyed the views from the peak. We could see our next stop, a megalithic tomb, in the woods nearby.

It's a leisurely little hike to the castle ruins at the top of the hill. The winding pathway up through the rustic woodland and undergrowth is intriguing and a little sinister. You never quite know where you're going until you get there. ( Maybe it's because I was watching Bram Stoker's Dracula, the night before.)
I'm not sure it quite qualifies as a castle. All I saw was a small tower with the remains of some small rooms.
The biggest attraction for me were the panoramic views of Sardegna. Breathtaking.
Not far from the city centre by car and FREE entry when I was there in mid October.

We climbed back down the trail from Pedres Castle and then followed the path past the car park to Su Mont'e s'Abe, a megalithic barrow tomb in an extremely good state of repair. This was in a grove of trees which gave welcome shade and consists of a large corridor with huge stone walls and roof and then more stones arcing out from either side at the front, like a Zulu impi or bulls horns. The site was built around 2000BC and was in use until the start of the Nuraghe period.
