Dundalk Stadium is a venue that accommodates horse and dog racing events. It features multiple bars, restaurant options, and meeting spaces. The stadium boasts of providing excellent restaurant service with friendly and hospitable local staff who serve delicious 3-course meals at a reasonable price. The facility is clean with spotless toilets, which indicates the upkeep of the place behind the scenes is commendable. Patrons have expressed their satisfaction with both food quality and overall experience at Dundalk Stadium.

Dundalk provides a key outlet for Irish racing, so that I am sure is important, and I think it would be a good place for a company outing. The greyhound racing just with horses instead of greyhounds felling is just not for me.

Welcomed in with a mulled wine reception, our Friday night at the Dundalk Stadium was fantastic. Food was very good, whilst the staff were friendly and accommodating. The overall atmosphere was extremely lively, whilst the races themselves provided that extra element of excitement and entertainment for the night. The only negative element from our experience was the table being too squeezed up to the wall on one side. Half our party were affected by this lack of space. More room for Table 67! Overall, this was an absolutely memorable experience and will be returning here soon
Roche Castle is a medieval site with a triangular configuration, offering stunning vistas of pastoral scenery. The remote and storied ruins are easily accessible from Dundalk, making it an ideal destination for inexperienced bikers at the start of the season. The castle's picturesque location amid lush green fields lends itself well to picnics, while its tranquil surroundings make for a peaceful retreat into nature. Visitors can expect refreshing breezes and breathtaking panoramas during their visit to Roche Castle.
Such a treasure. Hidden gem, off the beaten track. On the border with Armagh, you can imagine the Normans deciding that this was far enough north before they met the men of Uladh. Well worth a visit. Criminally undersold as a tourist location.
Cayde 6 — Google review
The scenery in Castle Roche is beautiful, the walls of the castle darkened in front of the blue sky as its backdrop.
The road is quite narrow, so you’d have to park your car as close to the edge of the road as you can. Don’t forget to tuck in your mirrors, or be ready to pick the pieces off the ground.
You can go left after walking a little distance from the gate and hike up, or you can have some fun and climb through side, and take some nice pictures. But you won’t be able to get round from here. To do that, walk around to back and hike up.
The castle is under reconstruction, so you won’t be able to get inside. It’s still quite lovely from outside.
Best to avoid it after a rain, as some parts are quite muddy. And there’s cattle poop about the place 😂

Not open to the public due to falling masonry. Beautiful from the road, but closed to visitors😢
Shannon Curtis — Google review
Not very well known outside the area and not well marked road signs, but very much well worth a visit for the views and picturesque castle background. However, recently with the dangers of falling rocks from the castle walls, they have locked up the entrance. So, you can no longer go inside the bailey without a guide.
Still, it has beautiful grounds outside and nice places for picnic or walking around.

4 stars because is wonderful. Not 5 because in any other country this castle would be a international tourist attraction. The best preserved castle in its ancient appearance I have seen in Ireland. Remember you have to use the entrance for the tractor to the field

Neat castle ruins from the 1200's! Just have to park on the road by the gate and as others mentioned it's closed to get inside but you can still walk around outside. Worth a quick visit to look around!

amazing ruins, interesting location and history as well as the legend of the castle. I recommend a visit on rainless days because then access is the best and relatively secure. On the road you can meet a flock of sheep as a bonus for the trip

Magnificent 13th century Norman castle in County Louth, not far from Dundalk and County Armagh. It's free to visit, but you can't gain entry due to the danger of falling masonry. It's in a commanding position and has beautiful 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. There's no official parking, but you can get some parking on the narrow lane beside the castle. I parked at the nearest crossroads, beside a derelict house and then it was only a short walk to the castle.
Gorgeous walk in nature. The lap around the pond isn't very long but we usually do a few laps with the dogs. So much wildlife to see and a really well kept playground up the top for young kids and a coffee shop right beside it. It's always well maintained and you'd never know you were just off the road. We absolutely love it!

Beautiful woodland area, quite small, probably only a 1km walk around, but it has a fab children's park and cafe run by very friendly women. It's a pity it's paid entry (€2) as there are much bigger parks operating for free but it's still a nice family experience.

Stunning little pond walk with boardwalk. 2 beautiful swans grace the picturesque scene and the old trees bordering the pond are beautiful. Just be aware of an entrance fee charged at entrance which goes towards costs of maintaining the grounds.

Lovely afternoon spent at stephenstown pond. €2 to park is well worth it as there's a great big park for the children, coffee shop, plenty of picnic tables and great for walking. We will definitely be back.

Lovely place for a walk. The coffeeshop has some decent coffee and snacks. The playground is very modern and looks safe. Great for a stop over with kids.

We were actually on the way to Blackrock in Co Louth, but never managed to get there because of the bike race. This is how we ended at the Stephenstown pond. The pond itself isn't very big, so an ideal walk, if you're not the greatest walker around. The path is easy to walk on and perfect for wheelchairs. Plenty of benches around for resting among amazing trees and listening to hundreds of birds. The minders take great care of the wildlife in that park. Near the carpark is also well placed a playground, a coffee shop and toilets. You can sit inside or outside the coffee shop. The people who run it are really nice, people were all relaxed and happy. It all was a very pleasant experience. But you have to pay admission to get in: 2 Euro.

Had booked a party for my daughter's birthday. There was only 13 children attending and air bound was very quiet. So I must say I was slightly disappointed by colleagues that were supposed to be hosting. They kept disappearing. In general the place was clean and tidy. Kids love the space to run around but would have just liked the staff to be more attentive.

They do under 5's sessions 1st thing on Saturday or Sunday.
Little ones love it and there is no risk of a bigger kid accidentally bumping them.
No, Dublin trampoline parks offer this as far as I know.
The place itself is clean, well staffed and in good condition.
Would recommend.

Great spot to wear the kids out bouncing around . Not for very small kids as easy to get knocked over . Coffee for the parents very cold inside the main area but that's only if Ur sitting still kids do be roasted great all round staff are amazing safety checks all the time great for parties for kids let them run around to their hearts content .Just make sure you are aware tho that it is 18 euro a head for birthday party so 20mkids and your over 400 euro . The food is just simple chips and nuggets and they do have pitchers of rosemary and orange fornthe time they are there so very expensive for large groups so be careful.

Fabulous place to bring the little ones for and hour to burn out energy. Inexpensive and it's great how they allocate times for under 5's to keep them safe from bigger kids.
Easy access from the hotel from main road , or back access on the side road nearby where Proleek Dolmen could be easily found.
It's a golf club area , so pay attention at golf balls, good for a nice fresh walk 🚶♂️.

Beautiful monument for the deceased no matter how long ago they died. Ten minute walk behind the Ballymascanlon Hotel.
Not suitable for those with limited mobility except for in a wheelchair; its a good ten minutes for the fit amongst us and a lot of uneven surfaces!!

I liked this dolmen in the grounds of the golf course at the Ballymascanlon Hotel Dundalk Co Louth. Great care is required approaching it along the 10/15 minute walk transversing the course Keep your eyes and ears open for flying balls and shouts of 'fore'.

Fantastic hotel with original old house . Excellent service. Good food. And for sporty people they have a golf course and two all weather tennis courts
Cathy Dalton — Google review
Proleek has a magnificent dolmen or portal tomb, there is also a wedge tomb very close nearby. Impressive as they are the walk to them is over a golf course and you get a sense that you are intruding as you make your way from the car park in the nearby hotel towards these monuments. You walk between two fairways and (as is the courtesy of golf) you should keep stopping so as not to distract the players.
That makes it unsuitable to families with small children as well as dog walkers. That is the main reason for the 4-star rather than 5.
The megaliths are great examples

Beautiful area. Its a pity that a golf course was allow to be built so close to an ancient structure dating back to the Neolithic period. It's ruins the mystic a bit for me. Worth a visit all the same.

We have had 2 experiences at Oriel Park. The first was to watch Dundalk V Shamrock Rovers. Stadium was buzzing and had a brilliant atmosphere!! The second experience was to go watch the U17 Cup Final and it was free entrance to the main grandstand we loved it!! The pitch is full astro and the facilities are decent.

Worst away section in league of Ireland. A disgrace, especially on back of two group stage qualifications. Club has failed the town.
Paul Carley — Google review
Away end. They call it the worst away end in the league, but I think its OK.
Toilets and food above average for LOI. There is plenty of space on the standing terrace with an unrestricted view of the pitch. The structure of the ground needs a fair bit of work, but where do people think the money is going to come from. Never had any bother from Dundalk fans as a Derry fan, and they make a decent bit of noise.
It's a fine place to watch football, especially if you get nice weather.
Marty G — Google review
Not a great away end. But with a full house atmosphere can be good. In fairness, facilities are good and it's safe for away fans.
Sean O' Reilly — Google review
Steeped in history with many a quality player coming through its doors. Good academy setup, new indoor astro, gym and meeting facilities are an excellent addition but unfortunately the stands have seen better days and deserve a face-lift from investment from a generous investor.

Home of dundalk fc. I was in the away section. Here you have a poor view of the other end of the pitch. No access to the bar. Sunny evening, so it was fine, however I would not go if rain was forecast, as there is no cover. Staff were friendly, chips were OK for a place like this.

County Museum Dundalk is a restored 18th century warehouse that now serves as a museum housing various archaeological exhibits and arts performances. The venue offers visitors an opportunity to explore the many artifacts on display, including a bubble car. The museum staff are highly attentive and welcoming, providing exceptional customer service to all guests. This cultural attraction has quickly become a cherished memory for many who have visited, leaving them eager to return for another in-depth exploration of the fascinating exhibits housed within its walls.
The exhibition on Northeast Ireland is really great, and the staff was so helpful with me, I wanted to know about landmarks on the outskirts of Dundalk, and they really clarified loads of questions I had, specially about Cúchulainn's birth place and death place. Even though they let it very clear that visiting both sites on foot would be a really long and tiring walk, I did it anyway, and I'm very proud of that, what a day that was. My sincere thanks to the staff.
M?rvio J?der Testoni — Google review
Great museum and good experience.
The staff sounded really passionate about what they do. The entry is free. This is a 3floor museum. They have a lot of artefacts from the past that you can take, feel and touch(in the ground floor). They are not behind glass cabinets. On the first and the second floor, you can find a lot of information from the past that is relevant to Irish history, especially the history of county Louth. They also have restrooms available and have creative sections for kids to enjoy.
This is such a well organised museum that is suitable for anyone visiting this place. Bear in mind one thing that they are closed for lunch between 1-2, when you plan your visit.

I went here a couple weeks ago with my friends, it started of as just a tour but before we even entered the museum displays, we already had a basic knowledge of the artefacts on display and their history. It might be small, but you can learn a bunch of dundalks history.

I've been meaning to share this for weeks, but time has flown...
We stopped into the museum for a flying visit on a long journey from Belfast to Galway. To be honest it was mainly a break for the kids, a bathroom break, a look at the bubble car, a quick walk around, and yet we were greeted so warmly by the lady on reception, who was so kind with the children and generous with her attention. I wish I knew her name, she deserves a raise. What could have been a one off flying visit has become a lasting happy memory for them, and they want to go back and take a proper look at all the varied and wonderful artifacts crammed into this place, and so despite living in Belfast we will find the time to do just that!

We travelled from Belfast to visit this museum yesterday. On the ground floor are more recent artefacts and information, including a "bubble car" and information about the railway in Dundalk, which was of interest to me as family members had worked in the GNR works in Dundalk. There are three floors in the museum, the top floor is devoted to prehistoric times, so I would recommend starting there. The museum closes for lunch between 1pm and 2pm. We went for lunch in a nearby café and returned to the museum for approx an hour after lunch. One negative point would be that the most up to date information related to the 1990s, when the museum was first opened and I think an update is due. Overall, a good visit with plenty of interest to see, both about County Louth and Ireland in general. Admission to the museum is free.

An interesting and well laid out museum. Covers the range of human history in the county through Neolithic times, early Christian, medieval, down to industrial history of the twentieth century. Good range of display methods - plenty of artefacts, reconstructions, illustrations, videos, and so on, over three stories of a spacious old red brick building. Well worth a visit.

Free entry. Three levels in the building: prehistoric, middle ages, industrial era. Nice to spend an hour looking at the history of the area. Staff very friendly

It is a local museum. They give you some insight in the development of the area. Entrance was free
The castle still stands well.
The area was well kept and tidy around it.
Surely it’s ample opportunity for a good tourist site for the town, if there was decent parking or if it could be open to view inside or even install steps to go to the top.
The only parking available is alongside the entrance or on the nearby footpaths / estates.
Small hill up to the castle.
David Casey — Google review
Like many significant historical sites in Louth this needs a lot of attention. Poor directions and access! No car parking! The commanding view of Dundalk bay from the top of the site would be worth the visit alone if it wasn't completely overgrown. Cut down the overgrown vegetation, install a spiral stair to the top of the tower and with somewhere to park this would be a major tourist destination.

Located just off the Castletown Road, Dundalk. No parking sign at entrance but it is possible to park at a housing development just a few metres further up the road on the left hand side.
Vehicular entrance gates are locked. Pedestrian entrance is over a stone stile / steps or slip through a gap on the left hand of the stile.
The stoned walkway winds it's way around the mound to till you reach the castle.
The is no entrance to the castle but it is possible walk around and to read some details about it on a plaque on one of the walls.
Steep walkway, possible for a pushchair.
No toilets, visitors centre etc

A beautiful Dominican church few yards from the Dundalk railway station. It is by the first turn from the railway station to the town center and you cannot miss this. The ambience of this church is magnificent and the best out of everything about this church is a grotto that is set inside the church, of mother Mary. Marvellous work. The eatery has gained popularity for its signature dish - crispy, juicy fried chicken served in generous portions. (3 bins on the northside, the south gate would definitely benefit from one). And don't give the ducks your white toasted pan or your cake please.
It's lovely to chat with the locals who have been coming there for decades and can share some of their stories or the story of the park with you. Take note how they care and always pick up after their furry friends.
Ice House Hill is one of a kind.

Amazing place to bring a dog. The park allows for offleash dog walking. There's a lovely pond for dogs to splash around in and lots of space to run around. It's lovely to sit down on a warm day and chill out with your pets as they play around. Highly recommend bringing your dogs here for a good time!

A little oasis in the middle of Dundalk.
This is an excellent resource for a quick walk or take time and a break for lunch in front of the pond. Plenty of birds and squirrels for distraction.
The park is reasonably well kept with wide level pathways ideal for walking, running or pram and wheelchair access.

Lovely park in Dundalk. Well maintained with some wild life and little pond. Pathways throughout for walking and accessible from a few different entrances.
Overwhelming, interesting, what a great experience to go there. The woman did a wonderful job, giving me information about everything I wanted to know - end even more. Surely one of the best visitor centres I have been to in one and a half years of travelling. I am deeply impressed.
Thank you so much.

The leg room while seated... who ever designed that seating lay-out should be fired. So uncomfortable. And I'm not a tall person!

Great concert tonight. Staff was friendly, audience seemed unified in spirit of fun. Sound was great. Only complaint is seating is tight, but not really an issue standing up so smiley faces can pass.
