Chernivtsi National University, well-known for its 5 scientific schools, provides a diverse range of academic disciplines. Its unique red-brick buildings, recognized by UNESCO as an architectural marvel, exhibit a blend of various styles such as Byzantine and Moorish. The university was completed in 1882 by Czech architect Josef Hlavka for the Metropolitans of Bukovyna to serve as their official residence. Later on, the Soviets established it as a university campus.
Probably the most impressive building in Chernivtsi. You must pay a tour visit, around 1.5 euro / person, totally worth it.

A very beautiful university which has an amazing architecture which reminds us of ancient time. I was so myself when I visited this university. It’s seriously an eye catching spot and definitely a tourist attraction. It was founded in 1875 when Chernivtsi (Czernowitz) was the capital of the Duchy of Bukovina, a Cisleithanian crown land of Austria-Hungary. Some of the reviews says that they had to pay to enter, but we were allowed to enter the university free of charge.

The jewel of the city. Architectonical treasure. A must see place together with the garden behind
The exquisite city of Chernivci, somewhat overlooked and forsaken yet incredibly delightful, boasts splendid architectural designs. One of its significant administrative bodies is the Chernivtsi City Council – an establishment responsible for the governance and management of this charming locality. With graceful structures adorning its streets, this governing office plays a pivotal role in maintaining order and ensuring efficient functioning within the city.

In other cities of the country, where there is constant shelling, water is better served and communications are being repaired. But in Chernivtsi, the prices are the highest in the country, and there are no living conditions At a time when our men are protecting the country, children and women are simply abused here. Even water is nowhere to be found....

I thoroughly enjoyed attending two performances at the Chernivtsi Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Olga Kobylianska. The venue's rich historical background is truly fascinating, making it highly recommended for a city tour to learn about its intriguing past and more. In addition, the theater itself boasts an impressive design, while the talented actors deliver top-notch performances on stage. The Chernivtsi Regional Art Museum is a museum showcasing Bukovinan and Ukrainian art from the 18th century to present day. Housed in an extravagant building, the museum has three floors with exhibitions on the second and third floors. The admission fee for adults is 30 uah, but every second Tuesday of the month admission is free for all visitors. However, the service can feel a bit strict as there are restrictions on touching or photographing exhibits.

Situated in the historical center of Chernivtsi, this remarkable structure resembling a ship captivates visitors with its unique design. The sculpted frontage mirrors the bow of a vessel, while the second-floor open space mimics a deck. Above the roof, a turret stands as a chimney. Though no official account exists regarding its origin, local lore suggests that it was constructed by a businessman for his seafaring brother who had spent numerous years exploring distant seas.

(Translated by Google) The ship house, or as some locals call it - shifa, is architecturally designed in the style of a ship in its appearance. If you go there with a guide, he will definitely tell you an interesting legend about two brothers. One is supposedly an entrepreneur, and the other is a sailor. And when the sailor finished sailing the oceans, he built this building in a feeling of nostalgia. According to another version, the brother, an entrepreneur, builds a ship for his brother, a sailor, where he proclaims him captain, since his brother wanted to become one, but never did (if it weren’t for his brother, of course). It can rightfully be considered a cultural, historical and architectural monument. It’s worth coming to Chernivtsi for this.

The botanical garden situated on the Chernivtsi University campus is a picturesque, landscaped park from the 19th century. It comes with a well-maintained greenhouse and offers visitors a serene experience. Although it has been described as not very exciting, it is still an excellent place to take leisurely walks while enjoying nature's beauty. While more varieties of plant life could be introduced to create greater visual appeal, the location itself is charming and worth exploring for those who enjoy tranquil surroundings.

The Chernivtsi Regional Local Lore Museum is a small but informative museum that offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the history of both the city and the wider region. The museum's exhibits provide a wealth of information on local historical events and figures, shedding light on aspects of Chernivtsi's past that many may not have been aware of before. For those visiting Chernivtsi, this museum is highly recommended as it offers a unique insight into the area's rich history.
Extraordinary tour guides with depth and breadth in their mastery of the exhibits and a focus on customer service I've so far never seen. Prices at the time of writing are extraordinary low, can't recommend it enough for anyone interested in the history of the region (and how global events reflected on it!). Don't know whether the tours exist in English, so that might be a slight caveat — worth asking.

The stuffed animals have been treated with naphtalene, for preserving them. It seems that the naphtalene has sadly spilled over also in the history section. The whole exhibition, including communist propaganda gore, at this "lore" museum has been preserved uncontextualized since it's bolschevik minded non-scientific conception.
The entrance boasts (praises) about the participation of Ukraine in the world expo St Louise 1904, which must be unrelated, as Chernovitsi was in the Austro-Hungarian empire at that time, and would thus not be representative at the ukrainian pavilion.
The staff is rude, attentive to useless ticket procedure, but unattentive to the historical accuracy, or good manners towards the guests.
It is a well renovated, but rotten-core example of Soviet Union in a "tin can", which is all the more reproachable at a time when young men die on the front to get rid of the exact phenomena this museum preserves, disregarding history, people, guests, good manners, and even scientific accuracy in regards to the fauna part of the exhibition.
A candid example of disgusting
science bashing in the most rosophile & bolschevik tradition this country is at war against.
