Sunshine Aquarium is a unique metropolitan aquarium located in a high-rise building, offering an extraordinary experience with diverse sea creatures and an above-ground glass pool. The concept of Oasis in the Sky provides joy, comfort, peacefulness, and relaxation all at once. Conveniently accessible from nearby stations, it features entertaining shows such as seal performances and feeding times for seals, pelicans, and penguins.
We've been to zoos an aquariums all over the place. The penguin exhibit here is the best. They swim over your head. So many fish in the different aquariums. Beautiful and vibrant. Worth a visit.
Debra Johnson — Google review
A lot of different species of seafood and reptiles to see. While it is entertaining for most people, it can seem unsatisfactory for aquarium afficionados. There were a lot of nursery trips being held at the time we went so as expected, a lot of noisy toddlers. The outdoor part of the aquarium had pink pelicans and South African penguins to look at.
The facilities were clean and that must be where the bulk of the payment went. We finished looking around in just 70 minutes.

I gave it 4 stars, but I think it really deserves about a 3.7.
Environments for some of the larger animals are very small, but they do provide stimulation by having an interactive environment.
Octopus tank had 0 items for stimulation/hiding. Those two things are very important for an octopus, especially since they are so smart.
Overall, it's a nice aquarium, and was fairly priced!

Tickets can be reserved in advance. Located at the top floor of sunshine city plaza area that can only be accessed via designated elevators. Really great displays with different kinds of viewing areas. Not a huge aquarium but still worth the visit!

Super small place, totally no worth it the money, my recommendation don't buy the annual pass, but during covid season , annual pass allow you entrance right away while day pass ,you have to wait on the line to get in.

An amazing experience 🤩
I don’t tend to frequent these kind of attractions involving living creatures, however the enclosures are incredibly clean and well kept ✅
There is a lot of really good information (mostly in Japanese) but it’s a great environment to get children interested in marine (and even non-marine) biodiversity 🐠🦎🐸🐢🐡 I went with a friend and her daughter, and the way the exhibit is built is extremely kid friendly, especially with the explanations and layout 😊
There is a Tully’s Café where if you get tired or need a snack has very complete and cute menu 😇 (unfortunately I didn’t anything and only had a tea but it was quite decent)
It can be crowded during the weekends especially so I would suggest going during non-peak hours if your circumstances permit 🕰️
Too long; didn’t read: Recommend 10/10 , beautiful rooftop aquarium with loads of fish from all over (even an Amazon, South East Asia and Africa <Lake Tanganyika> exhibit) 🐟

I have been to Aquariums in many countries, this one, although not the largest I have visited it is definitely the most unique! Very well laid out with great tanks that are immaculately kept! Many different species you don’t see everywhere. Inside was great, but the outside space was amazing. It was a rainy day which made the outside space less crowded, but droplets on the pool walls did show up in photos. We LOVED this aquarium!
Sammie Rutledge — Google review
This aquarium was one of my highlights in Ikebukuro. I recommend this to anyone in any age. Adult entrance fee is about 2600 to 2800 Yen.
Inside there are 3 sections, where one (in my opinion the best) is open air.
I also recommend to visit the performance of the seal - it was the best attraction there.
Leo Adolf — Google review
Not the biggest aquarium I've ever been to, but at the same time it has a lot of things going for it that makes it stand out compared to others.
Many of the species of fish and other sea creatures aren't that common to see at other aquariums, thus this makes it worth the visit.
Oh and to top it off, there's penguins as well :)
Fredrik Jansson — Google review
It’s a very small aquarium and so very very crowded. You can only enter via the Lift and although there’s four of them. The system isn’t well calibrated so only one of them can stop at the floor at one time. So we waited for 30 mins just to get on the lift.
Then we got to the aquarium and it was basically a big long crowd of people. Imagine standing in the Yamamote line train at rush hour and slowly making your way from the back to the front.
Lots of the exhibits have medium to large animals in a very small tank with nothing inside.
It was also quite expensive at ¥2600 for an adult and ¥1800 for children.
My children did enjoy it despite the crowds. But I’d perhaps go somewhere else unless you are here on a quiet weekday.

It was a cute aquarium. Not that big though, but cheap enough that it was ok. There is food on the 3rd floor, so convent. Also it's in a shopping center, so can be combined with other stuff to do.

A small-to-mid-size aquarium that suit for a half-day tour. Generally you will see things that you would expect; except some sort of large sea creatures, eg, dolphins, sharks, etc. It is located on top of a building so the space is limited. Check out the sea lion show. It is so adorable.
Watcharin Tongsuwan — Google review
Two in One experience you will get when you come here. It is located on top of Sunshine City mall. It is not deserted somewhere unknown. The price is reasonable for an attraction spot but the experience you get in there is PRICELESS. They have two sections, indoor and outdoor. Don't expect much for the outdoor section as they were not that big. But enough for me and my wife to stroll around.
Muhammad Hafizuddin Roslan — Google review
A nice place to chill and watch those adorable and beautiful animals. There are three zones in the aquarium (freezing to stay in the outdoor area, but the sea lion training demonstration was wonderful! So I stayed 20 mins there until the show ended!) The animals are under good care and the staffs were helpful. I spent two hours here. Relaxing place for tourists!

You can also meet Nemo and Dory here😍😂☺️❤️❤️✨✨
RIKKA — Google review
Heartbreak doesn't even begin to cover the profound sadness I felt witnessing the conditions there. The enclosures were shockingly small, nowhere near adequate for the variety of sea life housed within. It was the first time I've ever observed signs of zoophobia in an aquatic setting – a distressing sight with many creatures swimming in tight, repetitive circles, a clear indicator of their stress and discomfort.
An encounter with an octopus left a particularly deep impression. It seemed acutely aware of visitors on the other side of the glass, visibly panicking and attempting to conceal itself whenever someone approached too closely. Witnessing such fear was unsettling, to say the least.
And then there was the sea lion, confined to a space so cramped it might as well have been a bathtub. Its continuous, circular swimming, more akin to spinning, was a sight that filled me with a profound sense of sorrow.
I've never felt so eager to leave a place. It's heartbreaking to see marine creatures, which should be roaming the vast oceans, confined to such restrictive, inadequate environments. This visit was a stark reminder of the importance of ethical animal care, and unfortunately, this aquarium fell woefully short. A regrettable one-star review, solely because leaving no stars isn't an option.
Visiting this aquarium was an experience I wish I could forget.

Located in Sunshine City plaza. Just stop at the Higashiikebukuro stop using the Yurakucho Line. It has 2 zones, indoor and outdoor. Much more better than the ones back at home.
P.s: a plus point when it’s raining in Tokyo. Just visit this Aquarium and enjoy the food in the plaza.
Sugamo Jizodori Shopping Street is a traditional local shopping area featuring a variety of stores selling clothing, groceries, and cafes. It's known for its unique layout where the Tobu and Seibu exits are ironically placed opposite to their directional kanji meanings. Similar to Akihabara, there are also numerous electronics shops in the vicinity. For those seeking more affordable options, Sunshine City and Sunshine Street offer cheaper alternatives.
An enjoyable stroll on a smooth pathway with many good shopping n food along. Love the Sugamo. So adorable. Don't you think so? They even have a song on the Sugamo their mascot.
Foo Rina ?? — Google review
A nice bit retro shopping street, in Sugamo. Known for popularity with old people the food, clothes, fruits, other garlic, kampo, sweets and restaurants are reasonable and good. Check for the “red underpants” and get that thorn taken out of your stiff shoulder, by the Jizo? Then too, you can see and touch or pet the mascot Sugamo duck for good luck? I was impressed at the free WiFi and signage too.

I loved this street full of cute senior citizens and great discounted stores. Where else can you get brand new quality clothes for 1500 Yen. Brand new. I passed on the red panties, but hey, whatever floats your boat!

Go here on the 4th, 14th, or 24th of the month. It will not disappoint! This is always a shopping street. But on these 3 days they have extra street vendors with food, homemade goods, and antiques. You can find some good prices at this time also. I bought some handmade long makeup pouches for $2ea! They also had amazake, which is the most wonderful rice drink for $1! A lot of the local elderly come out on these days for bargains...it is precious!
On the way to the shopping street from the station, there is a buddha temple. Its is very clean and pretty!

This street in Tokyo is a renowned pedestrian zone. While it primarily markets products geared towards the elderly, it's actually a delightful spot for families to explore. The shops lining the street mostly offer locally made Japanese goods, all reasonably priced. Many of the snack stores feature handmade items, and there's no evidence of tourists being deceived or charged unfairly. Walking the entire length of the street will take at least an hour. If you're keen on experiencing authentic Japanese local culture and traditions, this street serves as a charming and heartwarming example. A must-visit for those looking to immerse themselves in the local ambiance. No tickets needed and no parking available.

Very long shopping street. Good variety, shops selling clothings, jackets, shoes, hats, food items, snacks, grocery, cafe. Several shops cater to elderly folks. A nice mix of people both young and old visiting this area. There is a shop that sells wheeled-walker and other aids for the elderly.

A beautiful and charming old street, more popular with senior citizens. I almost wanted to skip this place as I thought I wouldn’t have much to do here since it’s for senior citizen, but luckily I did not. It’s a nice place, with many things to look at. Many shops selling variety of things, and also snacks. Good place for shopping, stretched about 800m, could easily spend 1 to 2 hours depending on speed.

Great place! Far exceeded our expectations. 3 or 4 great temples and shrines on the street or nearby as well. I got myself a new flatcap, kyusu (japanese teapot), sencha (green tea), shio daifuku (sweet snack) and much more! We absolutely loved this place! The customer service from the staff in all the shops we went in was particularly outstanding!

Sunshine 60 is a prominent 60-story skyscraper located in the Sunshine City complex in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The building houses various attractions such as shops, restaurants, event spaces, and an aquarium. At the 60th floor of Sunshine 60, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Ikebukuro and its surroundings from an observation deck situated at a height of 251 meters above sea level.

This is my favorite aquarium in the area! The themed elevators going up transform from a seemingly regular elevator, into a little deep sea dive themed elevator as they ascend. There’s different exhibits like a dark deep sea exhibit you can explore with a flashlight as you walk through. The rooftop has a see through overhead tunnel so you can watch creatures swimming above you. But the best part is definitely the cute penguins. I always love coming back here!

Fairly priced and worth it in my opinion.
Before we bought the tickets, the staff warned us that the weather is not the best and changing rapidly, so we might not get the best views.
The elevator itself is an attraction as it is so fast you can feel the pressure in your ear changing just like in the airplane.
The view is perfect, you can really see all the sides well and far. There is a special area where you can relax, take perfect photos for Instagram or videos for TikTok (swings before windows and such). There were many couples just dating or relaxing together. Also kids playing around. Everyone seemed really happy.
You get a perfect view of Skytree and other famous landmarks and it wasn't as crowded as not that many tourists come to Ikebukuro (compared to Shibuya Sky, Skytree, Tokyo Tower).
Also it is located in a giant shopping mall, so there is plenty to do in that area before or after your visit.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre is a sprawling cultural complex that first opened in 1990 and was later renovated and reopened in 2012. It features four main halls, including the Concert Hall with the world's largest pipe organ, as well as meeting rooms and exhibit space. The complex hosts a variety of performances such as music, dramas, opera, musicals, and dance.
Yeah so, I wasn't here to see theater or a performance, but the inside architecture is pretty rad, especially up up up the giant escalator! There are little galleries spread throughout the enclave, in the basement level and up on the 5th(?) floor, and they're never too crowded, which is nice. Lot of people come here to sit on the kidney shaped seats and doze off. Don't miss the mysterious and looming Global Ring outside. What is its purpose? What is its mission? We may never know.
Michael Roberts — Google review
Nice place, to be sure. But, world’s largest pipe organ? Hahahah! Does anyone at google proof these outrageous claims? Atlantic City, Philadelphia, New York City, just three of the cities with pipe organs far larger than this. Not even the largest mechanical action pipe organ, that one is found in Sydney Opera House in Australia. Try better, people. (rolling eyes)

The place is iconic and grandeur, yet, the hardworking staff and guards with a lot of rules and area regulations for hygiene and security are a bit overwhelming.
Well, of course, once you’re inside and seated, everything unnecessary for enjoying the show will fly away, so no bother, actually, since the magnificent stage design and well-spaced seating are just great.
The theatre are accessible from many directions of the building including through the underground malls, but you’ll eventually need processing your ticket on a specific floor with a lot of other guests, so take a good time and mind for meeting your stars in stage before entering.
Small but a functional box office for the day tickets (if there are any), goods shop and intermission bar are usually available on each event.

Designed by renowned and influential American architect Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1921 as a school building for Jiyugakuen, the building has been designated an Important Cultural Property. It’s also one of the last Frank Lloyd Wright buildings remaining in Japan.

Rikkyo University, located in Toshima-ku, is a renowned institution with a rich history and modern appeal. The campus boasts a mix of historical red brick buildings and contemporary architecture set amidst lush greenery, creating a vibrant atmosphere that attracts both students and tourists. Notably, the university's baseball club has produced famous players and is part of the Tokyo Big 6 Baseball League.

I've studied there for 6 months as an exchange student and it was a really good experience.
The campus is quite big and beautiful. The food at the cafeteria is also super cheap (300 yens per meals) and the staff is very helpful.
They really help the exchange students so when you arrive you dont feel lost.

I had a very good experience in this university. Although the tuition was not very cheap to afford, there were various types of scholarship that you can apply.
I remember that I received approx. 30 man yen of scholarship in addition to the national scholarship when I had a chance to study abroad in Europe for two semesters.
I had less financial support by my parents, so thanks to this university I could have rich experience! ♡

Sunshine City, located in the Ikebukuro district, is a vibrant multipurpose complex offering a wide array of attractions. Visitors can explore its numerous facilities including shops, restaurants, an observation deck (reopened in 2016), the Sunshine 60 Building with its Sky Restaurant, and the World Import Building housing an aquarium. Families and couples can enjoy events at the fountain plaza while shopping at Shopping Street Alpa and ALTA.
Sunshine City Mall Tokyo, and I was blown away by the sheer size and variety of stores available. As a shopping enthusiast, this mall truly is a paradise for any shopper.
The mall features an impressive range of high-end fashion boutiques, trendy stores, and souvenir shops, offering something for everyone. I was particularly impressed with the variety of Japanese fashion stores, showcasing the unique and stylish designs of local designers.
Apart from shopping, there are plenty of other activities to do in the mall, such as visiting the aquarium, planetarium, or the observation deck, which offers breathtaking views of the city. I highly recommend a visit to the aquarium, which has an impressive range of marine life on display.
The mall also boasts an impressive food court, offering a wide range of Japanese and international cuisines to choose from. The selection of desserts and snacks is also impressive, with many unique and delicious options available.
One of the things that impressed me the most was the mall's cleanliness and organization, making it easy to navigate and find stores. The mall is also conveniently located near a train station, making it easy to access.
Overall, I highly recommend the Sunshine City Mall Tokyo to anyone visiting Tokyo, especially those who enjoy shopping. It's a fantastic experience with something for everyone, and I can't wait to visit again.

This was a large mall with a lot going on. Lots of shops, lots of food, and live performances. The outdoor gardens were amazing and we really enjoyed the rooftop aquarium. There was also a planetarium that we didn’t visit.

Nice view of Tokyo. There are two floors with two different heights and prices. The basic one stops at the 350m. You can reach the upper floors for a small extra fee. My only concern was the presence of too many lights due to the exhibitions inside the Skytree tower. They ruin the atmosphere and make several reflections on the glass, making it quite hard to take clear pictures.

One of my new favorite places. The aquarium is one of if not the best if seen and the views from the top is spectacular. Go just before sunset for the best experience. The observation floor is also a very well manicured hangout complete with a bar that also offers great mock tails.

Sunshine City Mall provided the perfect blend of shopping and dining, making my New Year's experience truly special.

In my opinion, Sunshine City is a great place to spend a day with family or friends. If you are interested in shopping, you can find many shops and restaurant. If you are interested in entertainment, you can visit the aquarium or planetarium which are both located inside the mall.

This mall was GIGANTIC but quite loud and busy so we could barely actually get into any of the stores. It's probably nicer when it's less crowded but we were there in lines for longer than we were in stores. The Pokemon center was pretty cool but had the same line issue. Overall I'm glad I came and I got some cool pokemon merch but I will never revisit if I ever come back to Japan. One and done.

There are many places where you can enjoy many food, but be careful on weekends because it will be as crowded as ants nest, sweet may not be the best thing to get though but yeah it was great.
Lovely place for a date, it has some water roundabout in the middle of the market or supermarket, enjoy the walk with friends, buy small stuff for yourself. It was amazing if you don't go along.

The rooms are spacious compared to those in Tokyo. The rooms are very clean. The bathrooms are well separated. There is also a spray for deodorizing. For breakfast there are many options to choose. The hotel is not far from the Ikebukuro area. Walk to go shopping in no more than 10 minutes. There is a FamilyMart in the hotel. The room window couldn't be opened. The air is not ventilating. The air conditioner is not cool. The hotel has several elevators. But waiting for the elevator for a long time.

Togenuki Jizoson Koganji Temple, located near the famous Sugamo Jizo Dori shopping street, is renowned for its healing Kannon statue. Visitors come from far and wide to pour healing water onto the temple's statue in hopes of finding relief from their ailments. The temple also holds a hidden Buddhist secret - the Gohonzon, which is said to bring good luck if prayed to.
A 10-minute walk from JR Sugamo Station.
Visited Togenuki Jizoson Kogan-ji Temple.
Saturday after 11:00 a.m., visiting the temple was smooth.
There was a short queue for the washing Kannon (Goddess of Mercy).
It is said to heal bad parts of the body.
Good thing I put a towel in my Ziploc.
Red seals are accepted at the main hall.
I had it written in front of me.
Surprisingly, there were few people and the temple was very calm.
After visiting the temple, we strolled around the shopping street.
It was interesting to see various stores such as a red pants store and a Japanese sweets shop.
The character Sugamon is cute.

This is a temple that is traditionally known for its healing powers. I guess... It's not relevant anymore for actually healing people, but the marketplace and the commercial district near it is still very active and well. You can think of it as more like a tourist attraction than a hospital now.

A great temple in the Sugamo area that is famous for its mysterious healing power thanks to the 'Togenuki (the thorn-removing)' Jizo. But the water fountain and a few facilities are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sugamo is an interesting place that you can not really see in downtown Tokyo. I like the mood that you can experience around the streets and this temple. It is more silent on weekend but can be crowded on weekends, especially when there is a festival or other local events. Highly recommended!

The shops around this temple are interesting and fun. Inside the temple, you can see Japanese elders washing and mopping a buddha statue. It is believed that buddha will cure the painful part.
Kishimojin Temple is a serene Buddhist temple in Tokyo, dedicated to the deity of childcare and childbirth. The shrine worships Kishimojin, the goddess known for aiding mothers and protecting children. It features historic gingko trees that are around 700 years old and have been designated as Natural Monuments by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The temple also holds cultural significance, having been featured in a movie scene.
Tucked away behind the bustling mega station of Ikebukuro this traditional local temple is a hidden gem. With an interesting back story about a demon who saw the error of his ways, this temple is still used today by locals to bless their children and wish good luck. With a showa era tuck shops and mini torii walkway this is a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city.

For the babies, pregnant moms, and pray for health and happiness. But no Pokémon Go here please! Btw, there are Shinto shrines also for such prayers for happiness, such as the main one in Suitengu. So not sure how to choose your temple, shrine or trust Creator God in another manner?

A temple from the sixteen hundreds that you guys should totally visit if you are in tokyo.
A get away from all the noise and busyness of the city, come and find peace.
Photos don't really show how beautiful it is.
A bit of history:
Kishimojin Temple is dedicated to the Buddhist deity, Kishimojin. A goddess who cares for and protects children, Kishimojin also helps mothers with their deliveries. The goddess will often be found with a child in one hand and a pomegranate in the other, symbols of her undying love and fertility.
But, as the legend goes, the goddess was not always so kind and benevolent. In her early days, she was actually a horrifying demon who, in an effort to feed her thousands of children, would go out and abduct other children to serve as food. One day, as she went out looking for kids, the Buddha hid one of her children. In a fit of panic at losing her child, the demon became enlightened to the suffering of other mothers and swore to protect their children

The once-a-month DIY market in this temple was just amazing. Last time we went there were about seventies stalls out there selling some of the finest handmade, creative, artistic, practical, and unique clothing, decoration, food, and household items. Most stall-owners were extremely friendly to passersby even though (s)he might not end up making a purchase. Just an ideal place!

The board says the field was planted with two types of grass, one for summer and another for winter. So the fields are green all year round.
There's a cafe right next to the park, we thought they were the typical cool coffee place with not so good food or coffee. But we're pleasantly surprised.

A lovely get away from the busy ikebukuro streets. There are nice places to sit and talk with friends and a place for children to play so you often see a whole range of people. The only thing I don't understand is that there is hardly and chance through out the year to sit on the grass. It kind of reduces the space of the park by about 60%.

Great park to go with babies, toddlers and kindergarten-aged children. The park has been redone, it's now mostly grass for crawling and running around on. Great for picnics. It's surrounded by trees and one end is a small but very fun park. The main attraction is a sliding slope, much better than a traditional slide as the child can choose their level of sliding comfort and height. Also no need to take turns. There are also see-saws, roundabouts and rocking equipment on a bark area. Racines cafe down the other end has eat in or take out options so if you forget to pack your picnic, there's no need to worry. 5 stars.
The Philatelic Museum is a haven for stamp enthusiasts, featuring two floors dedicated to stamps from around the world. The first floor hosts thematic exhibits that change every three months, while the second floor library offers international and Japanese stamp catalogues. This 5% applies only to cash purchases. But it can be added on top of the tax refund = more savings.

I go here pretty much every day. Oh and a convenient entrance into Onami Eki.

Daiso and LIFE market are pretty good. They have bicycle racks and some restaurants

There's not really very much here at all (except Kaldi coffee which is great). It does seem to be heavily catered to those with little kids though.

Good for parents with kids. There is an area exclusively for kids under 6 with many fun things to do.

Zōshigaya Old Missionary Museum (Old McCaleb House)
The Zōshigaya Old Missionary Museum, also known as the Old McCaleb House, is a 1907 Western-style wooden building that served as the residence and religious center for American missionary John Moody McCaleb. Located in a residential neighborhood near Zoshigaya Cemetery, this historical site is just a mile away from Ikebukuro Station.
Beautiful past missionary’s residence and exhibition of the areas as well - admission free. Beautiful garden too. Very well preserved.

A bit of of the way, this old mission house is free to wander around and had some interesting insight to what it was like 100 years ago. But most of the explanatory in Japanese.

I visited this place on Saturday, it was deserted. Very well maintained. Not a must see place. Wooden floor is shiny and well maintained.

(Translated by Google) They suddenly appear in residential areas. The building is a quaint Western-style building, but the magnificent pine tree that covers the entrance is a Japanese garden. The comparison is interesting.

住宅地に急に現れます。建物は趣のある洋館ですが入口を覆うような立派な松は日本の庭園。その対比が面白いです。

(Translated by Google) It is a Western-style building with a sense of history.
The street is also a brick street and has an atmosphere.
The exterior has been well-maintained so that plants can be enjoyed throughout the year.
The building had many windows and was well-lit.
Although there are some parts that are different from the old usage, I feel that there is enough left to enjoy the remains.
Admission is also free. Why not come and visit us when you're in the area? 👍

Ikebukuro Shopping Park is a vast underground complex located beneath Ikebukuro Station, offering a wide array of shopping options, cafes, and specialty snack retailers. The mall features clothing and accessory boutiques, side dish shops, Japanese and Western food outlets, service establishments, and cafes. It's a popular spot for commuters heading home from work as it stays open until 9:00 p.m. on weekdays.
A little bit crowded but really nice place as a gateway for weekend vacation or escapade.
Products are branded and prices vary from store to store. Bar houses are just around.

A cosy place to buy all your daily supplies and food here. The location is good. You can gain access here through Seibu or the Ikebukuro station.

Bought some fruits from their supermarket, average quality, slightly higher price than the seiyu that’s about 10 minutes away. Their presentation is excellent though. Good shopping experience but not the best prices.

A massive underground maze of shops selling all kinds of items, from fashion, knick knacks, foods. You name it you got it. A good way to look at many different things all at once, away from your usual department stores. Do look out for hidden deals, as sometimes items go at discounts.

I give a 3 star simply because I did not have time to explore it a little more than I should. But I ate at one of those small restaurants which offered great prices. A spaghetti with meat sauce and egg cost less than 800 yens. I enjoyed coming here.

Really have to call it kind of a low 4 stars. Kind of hard to navigate around and figure out what was going on. if you like random shopping, then I bet you like

The Ancient Orient Museum, located in Tokyo, is a treasure trove of ancient artifacts from Egypt and the Middle East. The museum's collection includes approximately 5,000 items dating from the Palaeolithic to the Sassanid period, with a focus on West Asia and Egypt. Visitors can explore the exhibits with audio guides and also browse through a shop offering unique souvenirs. The museum aims to conduct research on the ancient Orient while preserving and showcasing materials related to this fascinating era.
Friendly staff. The museum was quiet and there weren't many people. It is a very English friendly experience. The bathroom was nice too.

Kind staff doing their best, but a rather limited range of exhibits, leaving you with an "is that it...?" (in fact my 8 year old said exactly that) feeling. It wasn't overpriced, but still a bit underwhelming.

I liked the museum, especially the section about the city of Uruk. The entry is not easy to find, you have to use an elevator to the 7th floor. Entry fee is ¥700, which seems a little too much since the museum is rather small (I've spent two hours there). The signs are Japanese only but translating them works well. Make sure to watch the video at the start, it's well made and has English subtitles (every hour).

A small museum, maybe not must to go, but still a cute one

Lovely and varied collection, well-presented for laypeople. Few explanations in English unfortunately.

The only English is the descriptions of most of the artifacts—material, era, and usage/description.
It was amazing to view ancient items. The display of the artifact could have been more professional but I enjoyed the viewing experience.
The museum is located on the 7th floor of the Sunshine building. The fee is 1000yen. You are warned—limited amount of English so brush up on your kanji before visiting.

A bit difficult to find, but completely worth it! There are a lot of ubique artifacts from around the world; the maps, books, and pottery were fascinating to me. The price is quite expensive, and the student discount is only for Japanese tourists. Know before you go: no photos allowed, and there are no plaque descriptions if the objects in English.
Taylor Lanxon — Google review
Absolutely brilliant, if you are into history, or have kids that might be interested in seeing ancient artefacts.
Lots of Bronze Age artefacts from Mesopotamia, but also Stone Age artefacts, Ancient Greek empire and some Egyptian artefacts.
The pottery was quite impressive and some of it is very old (up to 5,000 BC). Stone tools, Bronze Age weapons, cuneiform writing, copper, bronze and iron artefacts.
Not a big museum, but very interesting.

¥1000 for a ticket. No photos/video allowed and no audio tour when a special exhibition is on.
There's an app if you ask for instructions at the front desk, but I was told that it doesn't include content for the exhibitions which take up the whole of the museum.
The artefacts were beautiful, but I missed a lot of the experience because I couldn't speak Japanese.
Probably budget 30 minutes for English, 2 hours if you understand Japanese, it's fairly small.
Didn't feel like value-for-money due to the above.

A nice little museum with interesting displays. Low price but a great little experience. No photography allowed, so no photos to post

It's mostly in Japanese with some English titles. Many are replicas. It's a very small museum on the 6th floor. If you've been to the British museum, etc it's OK to skip
