Anundshög, located 9km northeast of Vasteras in Sweden, is an extensive pre-Christian burial ground that boasts the biggest tumulus monument in the country. The site features various prehistoric artifacts such as mounds and stone-ship settings, including a large rune stone from the 11th century. Visitors can take bus 12 to Bjurhovda and walk 2km east to reach the site.
This place vibes with energy and ancient echoes! Right in the heart of the ship sized rocks arrangement you can meditate and feel the energy.
Important info: it is a free place to visit.

It’s a beautiful and historical place and you can enjoy the nature around there.
However, if you just go alone and you are not really fan of Swedish history.. hmm this place is not special for you.
Kaori Nishimaki — Google review
I thought it was a small boat shaped stone formation like the ones I've seen in Gotland but as I was getting nearer I was amazed to discover that the stones were huge and many. There was also a mound, a rune, several ship shapes (stones laid in the form of a ship to send off the dead) ... The biggest I've seen ever... The whole area is full of archeological treasures...

It is the biggest burial monument in Sweden. 9 meters high and you are allowed to climb it. In the vicinity there are loads of historical landmarks and everything is well covered by information signs.

Little is known in detail about the gravemounds and stone circles (or "ships") but you will possibly learn more than expected, as the signage is quite informative.

Beautiful historical place, could really feel the ancient energy. 🙏🏻

Believed to be a place of worship for pagan Vikings. There are 5 ship-like structures that form the shape of a ship with the exact dates unknown. There is a mound in the middle. It's worth climbing to have an overall view of the place. There is a bus that runs nearby Västerås C that passes by the site. The place doesn't require you to pay a ticket. There is also a cafe there to enjoy coffee after a walk.
Jethro — Google review
You can really feel the presence of history here, impressive mounds and ship settings. The rune stone is also worth a visit! When we visited there was activities like prepare your own yarn from lambswool, learn a Viking board game, practice swords fencing. Not sure how often they do that, but it was very nice and interesting, the kids loved it and now we also have a Viking board game at home.

Absolutely breathtaking! So many ship mounds and burial mounds, with several information boards - the entire area is beautiful.
Highly recommend stopping over, and trying the goulash from the cafe by the site!

This place is an archaeological site for doing research activities. This place consists of people who were burried more than 1000 years ago.On April 30th,2022 there was a festival conducted here.We went to see the programme here.
Overall this is a nice place to take good amount of photography.
There were 2 small hills near to the stones.Children were playing on the hills.
As a tourist ,you can witness the stones being beautifully placed in the shape of 8 when you see the view from the hill top.
There is a small café near to this place.
Vallby friluftsmuseum is a recreated 19th-century Swedish village that offers visitors an opportunity to explore Swedish culture through costumed interpreters and demonstrations. It's a great destination for families with small kids as the entry is completely free and there are several animals on display. Depending on the day or season, visitors can also go into classic Swedish buildings and see how life was in the past.
Free entrance. It's a lovely place to visit, with lots of animals and greenery. You can go inside the buildings and receive guidance and info from staff.

It is free and it is a piece of the old Sweden. From the center of Vasteras it is a pleasant half hour walk up the east bank of the river to get there. But do not expect a miniature Skansen.

This is a great place to go with small kids. Completely free to enter and walk around. A number of animals on show, and depending on day or season, classic Swedish buildings to go into a see how life was previously. Shop opening right now has been limited due to covid, but when open there are a number of nice stores to wander around. A nice cafe and seating in the main square is a fantastic stop off when the weather us good. The midsommar celebrations are a goid thing to visit for as well. Heartily recommend a visit.

You know, it is just lovely here. It is grandma village house right next to city that you never had opportunity to visit. And it’s for free! Animals are taken good care of, they all look clean and healthy! The museum-houses are pretty packed with old-times stuff, however, there could be a little bit more information in English provided. Museum is doing events and fairs according to the celebrations, what is awesome. Place is kids and dogs-friendly, there is caffe for fika to buy.

Västerås Domkyrka is a 13th-century cathedral located in one of the oldest places in Sweden. Featuring a brick exterior, copper spire, and roof, this historic building contains the tomb of a former king. The cathedral's impressive architecture is visible even from outside the city and includes a grand choir within its well-maintained interior.
Beautifully preserved medieval church with countless pieces of art and history on every wall and tucked in every corner. Make sure to look in the treasury in the northwest corner (left side after you enter) for amazing artifacts and to learn about this church's place in the history of the Reformation in Sweden. Staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

Maybe the best building in Västerås for taking aerial photos by drone. It is unique with great view among the buildings around.I'm looking for a chance to take some photos from its inside architecture. The church is an old historical building has been made 750 years before.

Vásteras is one of the most old places in Sweden. This church is also one of the oldest buildings. The cathedral building is rich in architecture.Even from outer of the city you can see this church. It is situated near to the centrum.
The internal architecture was rich. The place was well maintained. It is believed that this church was constructed in the year 1200s.Still the church was utmost one of the tourist attractions in Vásteras.
The choir was very much big.You must definitely go to this church when you visit Vásteras

Kokpunkten Actionbad is a re-purposed industrial complex that features lazy rivers, paddling pools, and thrilling slides with funky lighting. The facility offers both fun and relaxation for visitors of all ages. However, there are certain areas in need of improvement such as the lack of a cold bath near the sauna and the long distance between dressing rooms and the pool. Additionally, while reasonably clean, there were very few tables available in the café which led to long queues at times.
Great but not so many waterslides. Truly recomend It has a Great hotel next to it, actuly its in the same building i will give som photos. And if you go to this waterpark and stay in the hotel you will get a c

Four great action rides/slides and good experience pool. The food is ok but not ambitious. But overall a very nice experience. Not too long queues for the rides which the family liked.
Fredrik Lindros — Google review
Very underwhelming.
The pools are small and there are not enough tables in the restaurant to accommodate all the guests during busier days.
The water slides are fun once, maybe twice but I suppose that I'd find them more entertaining if I was 12.
Poorly designed with a long, cold corridor to get from the changing rooms to the pools, very few showers (two of them didn't work at all) and unlike other baths I've been to there was no place to put your shampoo and conditioner bottles while showering.
On the bright side the food was very good and not hideously overpriced.
DISREIGN — Google review
Attractions are great. The place is amazing for kids and adults. The restaurant is dirty. Food is disgusting. Small portions that are not enough for kids. Food is overpriced. The only downsode is restaurant, everything else is great. I'm definitely recommending visiting, just avoid food there.

Our family had a blast here. Lots of fun for all ages. A couple of the speed slides are a bit rough but otherwise we felt very safe and comfortable. Very clean and fun environment.
Erik Chovan — Google review
Very disappointed after my family's visit to Kokpunkten.
The pool area was much smaller than I had expected and there was not much room to play in, every space had been used for some kind of attraction. The rides were good, but out of four, one was closed for renovation, and the others were also closed in turns during the day - it seemed like there was not enough staff to have the remaining three rides open simultaneously. This of course meant that queues to the open rides were huge.
Regarding staff there seemed to be a lack of it in the whole installation, there was practically no-one overlooking the different areas and groups of boys/adolescents were allowed to run wild, even in the kiddie pool.
The queue to the café was always really long, even though we waited until long after regular lunch hours. The available food in the café was also really disappointing to a vegetarian: margherita pizza (no toppings) and french fries were basically it - nothing with any protein. How hard would it be to have at least vegetarian hot dogs or a pizza with some topping other than meat?
Another irritation was the dim lighting, it was just really dark everywhere you went - when going from inside to the outside pool, it took ten minutes for your eyes to adjust.
Price-wise it's really expensive compared to other similar places and not at all value for money.
On the positive side, the outside pool was nice, the kiddie area was big and had lots of fun stuff, there were lots of bubble baths and the changing rooms were spacious and clean.
Nonis Malamas — Google review
It is a indoor amusement aqua park. It was not so big compared to the other aqua parks which i have gone so far but it worth visiting. It is so clean with friendly stuff. There is a circle inside the water which in that area water rotate around the circle and moves you inside which was a cool experience. Also there is a small outdoor swimming pool with hot water which you can breath in fresh air and enjoy a lot while you are seeing the sea view from inside. When you want to buy ticket there are 3 ticjet options, just buy the cheapest one since there is not much difference between them but the price difference is quite a lot. There is a buffet there which you can buy some snacks there but you can bring your own snack and eat there as well. The slides was not impressive to me.
Mohammadreza Saghazadeh — Google review
Lots of fun for kids, clean, a little bit dark so it becomes heavy after some hours. Water slides pools and one activities inside the pools. Not so long food options but big sizes.
Luis Alfredo Gonz?lez — Google review
It was quite nice, the water isn't dirty which is good. Doesn't smell like choline. Although if you have epilepsy, 8 would NOT recommend as there's slashing lights just about everywhere. It's a bit hard to navigate and a lot of stairs.
Miriam Hedlund — Google review
Bottom floor is for the youngest kids and the higher floors when you want more action, which I think is a very good layout. Last year I was here during a lightning storm a felt really lucky because of the spectacular view from the restaurants big window. If you plan on getting here I can also recommend the hotel in the same building, Steam Hotel.

They don't have any vegan food in their menu in the restaurant other than fries, staff was friendly and could do some changes to make dishes vegan (like plain paste with just tomato sauce) but would be great if the management could add proper vegan meals to the menu

Kokpunkten Actionbad in Västerås offers an exhilarating aquatic experience with its diverse slides and adventurous water attractions. The adrenaline-pumping atmosphere, coupled with friendly staff, ensures a memorable visit. However, limited seating areas might inconvenience guests during peak hours. Overall, a thrilling waterpark adventure for families.
Peter Lewandowski — Google review
Great escape from the routine. They have taken great advantage of the space ( an expansion with more slides will for sure be welcome and more fun).
Only complain is that a larger braking space at the end of the slides is needed!! I ended up upside down and hurting my shoulder at one of them because of the speed at the end.

Worst experience ever. Been to many water parks throughout europe, so in total general area 5 jacuzzi constantly full all the common area is just for kids. Very poor choice of activities. Very small space no fresh air, overhyped in total i don’t know how it has 4 star rating. Would not recommend people to come who are not from this city, waste of time enjoy your local pools it gives same quality. ( Should rename it from actionbad it has only 4 slides )

I celebrated my birthday here yesterday. The water park is very warm and humid almost everywhere.
It has five slides, one of them being the black River. It’s a slide thats pitch black with no light with lots of twists and turns, it’s very fun!
The VR rides were very interesting, and the outdoor relax pool had a very nice view at nighttime. The water there is also very warm

A great place. Much fun and relaxing. Only one thing I was disappointed is there is no cold bath near sauna. VR slider doesn’t worth to pay, might be nice for small kids.

They need to do something about the queues. Although they added a tent, it still cold to wait. The bracelet that we got two of them didn’t work so we had to go back and reprogram them. The kiosk had a problem with the system and it didn’t work to order for 30 min, then we lost our queue and started over. The slide ls had queues also. It was clean though, it felt fresh. Other than that is okay to be there for some hours. Parking is not free, 100kr for 4 hours.
At the top of Djankeberget, you will find Djäknebergets Restaurang. This family-run restaurant has been serving delicious meals since 1989, now managed by brothers Jiri and Tommy Ondracek. First of all: you cannot beat the view! A magnificent view of central Västerås, all the way to the harbour and the lake.
The food was delicious. I had the flank steak, perfectly done and juicy. Lots of flavour with several sauces.
We also had the elk meatballs - that plate was left empty, and the schnitzel - yummy. And beaf tenderloin pasta - our son looked very happy!
The staff is so nice and helpful, we felt valued.

I am usually very sceptical toward restaurants with nice views but was positively surprised. The staff was nice, the restaurant looked classic but modern but the view was really cool. We had our lunch here, had the "wallenbergare" and my son the meatballs. The wallenbergare were nicely cooked and juicy. The meatballs was too dry and could use some more sauce and maybe some pickles cucumbers. The salad buffé was ok, with basics plus some nice extras such as own whipped butter. It is an expensive place but for the view, definitely worth it.

Googling the best restaurants in västerås, this place didn't even show up. And that's a shame. The venue is nice, with a great view of the city. The staff is excellent and truly friendly. Drinks perfect (even if I miss the copper cup for the Moscow mule). The food is perfectly balanced when it comes to the ingredients. Sometimes a little to much food / items on the plates. But it's still really good. The winning concept of this restaurant Is the staff but the food comes close second.

Kyrkbacken, situated in the heart of Vasteras, is a historic district that dates back to ancient times. It used to be the northern boundary of the city and was home to the less privileged residents, while the affluent and clerical community resided in the southern region. Despite extensive modernization and demolition efforts after World War II, Kyrkbacken managed to retain its original charm and character.

Visiting Lögarängsbadet for the first time with my kids, and having spent countless times there as a kid and teenager I was impressed with the fact that they covered the main pool with a Roof. So, there is an Olympic size pool with plenty of space to swim, and to play, and around 4-5m deep at the deep end and around 1.8m at the shallow. 2 Waterslides outdoors, which the kids enjoyed (we did visit 2 times during our visit to Grandpa and first time it was slightly rainy and slide was empty so the kids got plenty of rides, second time it was nice and sunny and the kids did not want to stand in line, so skipped it). The slides are even, and you don't feel the joints while riding. In the Big pool, there is a rope attached to the ceiling, for the kids to swing and jump from, and a climbing wall. The reason the bath does not get a 5 star is the climbing wall (too far between the handholds for a 6 year old, or even a 10 year old to reach), maybe put in another one, for the younger kids? Showers were clean, and there is also a Sauna (no time to check it out, maybe on next visit). Overall a nice experience, at SEK 140 for the family. Btw, don't forget to bring a padlock and key (for the lockers). I am sure we will visit again when in Vasteras next time!

Please note that this is not a "big" or visually super impressive monument. It's for loved carved in the ground many hundreds of years ago. The site is valuable for its historic and Archeological aspects, especially when considered in conjunction with the other archaeological venues of the nearby area (Anundshög!).
Ps: bring bug spray.

Västerås Castle, a medieval fortress built in the 16th century, is famous for the 1527 Parliamentary decision that made Sweden a Protestant country. Originally constructed around 1200 and later rebuilt by King Gustav Vasa in the mid-1500s, it served as a defensive structure. Today, it houses a small museum offering insights into local heritage and culture. Despite its unimpressive exterior, the castle provides an interesting introduction to the area's rich history.
