The Haverfordwest Town Museum is situated within a castle from the 12th century and showcases exhibits on community history along with displaying local artwork. This museum is highly recommended and definitely deserves a visit. It's a charming little establishment located inside an ancient fortress, which boasts fascinating displays that showcase the local heritage of the town.
Lovely little museum in a castle.

We went there after 7pm so the museum was closed. The castle ruins are quite pleasant and the views are lovely. If you're in the town it's worth a visit but I'd not go out of my way to see it.

Interesting old castle and museum. Imposing castle, seen from the town. Especially during night time.
The defence walls are nearly intact.
The castle area is quiet large, and besides ruins, you may discover a gateway down, including nice views of the town. Nearby, you'll also find the ruins of an old Abbey.
A visit to the museum is just about 2 pounds, as of June 2017, and recommended. It's all about history of Haverfordwest and the castle.
A bit complicated, driving up to the castle, but in my opinion, well worth it. Icluding a visit of the town, it's a nice day out, for any family and / or history interested visitor.
Please check, if there is a parking fee to pay, as I have not seen any parking machine, but a sign board, about parking permits.

Needs to be maintained and cleaned as it has been vandalized and is overgrown. Can easily be restored and made more accessible for the public.

Interesting place...worth the walk up hill. Lots of artifacts and memorabilia.

Interesting place to spend an hour or two. Quite small but extremely friendly people. The castle seems to suffer from vandalism, as it's open all the time, which is a really shame. Was still nice to picnic there, but there was broken glass around. I wouldn't recommend it for toddlers that can't understand not to pick it up.

Lovely little museum.
The curator was extremely knowledgable about all of the castles we had visited on our trip, not just the castle in Haverfordwest.
For any WWII aircraft fan or anyone who has only ever heard of a Spitfire, getting up close and personal with the cockpit of this rare aircraft is a dream! Yes it is a mammoth task, yes it is going to take a long time and yes it is going to cost a fortune but YES it is worth doing! Visit the shop and see what is there and get the bug👍
NOTE THEY HAVE MOVED DOWN THE STREET. If, like me, you find the shop empty then don't panic! Continue down the street passed Gregg's to their new premises as seen in photos.
Thanks Roy for the info and the enthusiasm. Good luck with a great cause

A bit dated, at the back of a charity shop. What do you expect from a brief trip back to WW2. OK for a short visit with family, amazing if you are a spitfire enthusiast.

This is a small but unique experience. The opportunity to interact up close with a Spitfire is a rare one. If you can’t get along, do visit my YT channel where I review the museum, (Zinzan scale modelling).
Either way, please donate and help JG668 get back into the air once more!

This is a lovely charity shop with great items. The museum at the back of the store is really interesting. To be up close and personal to such a significant piece of history was rather overwhelming. I suggest the younger generation log off their xboxes and visit here to see how hard life really was and what others went through so we could have 'today'. Maybe they would appreciate things a lot

Shop front leads to a real suprise, a compact museum, containing much of the actual Spitfire that the organisation wish to restore. Buy and donate freely to help the cause. The guide is so knowledgeable.
The Creative Cafe is a pottery cafe where you can paint your own pieces of pottery. The locations in Pembrokeshire have different displays of colourful ceramics, some with personalised prints and others just for fun.
The Creative Cafe was lovely. The shop upstairs is beautiful and then downstairs is where you paint. It's a small space but used effectively and the lady running it was really lovely! Great selection of pottery to paint too and a reasonable price.

I am in no way way artistic or appreciate fine art, but I could sit here for hours painting away. Love this place as do the family. Would definitely recommend, yes it is a little pricey albeit not overly but you get the item after being glazed, fired and there is no studio fee. Nice selection of drinks and friendly staff.

Great little art and pottery shop - expect hand painted mugs to set you back close to double what you'd usually expect to pay though (£20 - £24/mug vs the previous £12 I paid in Cardiff)

I love this place! We have had 3 parties here over the years, where the kids have painted pottery and also come here to do silver fingerprint jewellery. It is really well set out, with lots of choice of the different items to paint. The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is great. I will definitely be going back again x
The Castle in Haverfordwest is a large and imposing building that was once the residence of the royal family of Wales. It is located in the town centre and has been restored to its original splendour.
Haverfordwest Leisure Centre is a fantastic facility, offering ample space in its pool with an adjustable depth feature. It also boasts two smaller pools for younger children. Alongside this, there are additional amenities such as a steam room/sauna, gym and climbing wall. While you have the option to pay per activity, it is highly recommended to obtain a membership for the convenience of booking activities in advance and accessing other classes on offer.

This place has become a hub for families, after school swimming, keep fit etc. The cafe, is great for me. Even though I am hearing impaired, I get treated same, and have no fault with the service I get. Its open airy but has lovely seating choices. Plus you can take away too. Pricing is doable, for most items, if a large family. Toilets are in the sports centre. Clean and spacious.

Went swimming for a rainy day activity with kids. Previous negative reviews by other people are reflective of my experience too - clearly no improvements have been implemented since the previous reviews and would highlight this to anyone else thinking about visiting.
Main complaints from me:
Lack of notice on website to indicate that pools are closed for lessons.
Changing rooms are fairly grim - dark, and feels like a breeding ground for bacteria, with an unpleasant smell.
Lockers mostly not working, took five attempts to find a working one.
No sign at the poolside or reception about closed pools, resulting in obnoxious life guard blowing his whistle when I dared to enter another pool. Thankfully another member of staff explained this in a perfectly polite professional manner. Life guard could do with lessons in communicating with actual words when dealing with the public and perhaps a few training courses in public relations.
Broken showers.
Overall a hugely disappointing experience, and definitely won't return.

Tried to call and book a Climbing Taster session as per the website instructions, and waited 25mins minutes to get an answer. This shows a Naive management approach to the front of house staff making them serve on reception and answering phones when spare. No doubt they believe that the Web booking system covers all the services that they offer and as a result do not need staff to make the business work. It is probably a nice place to visit, but is in dire need of some customer focus.

The staff are lovely.. that’s about it for the positive 🙈 constantly smelt like poo and urine in the changing rooms. The sauna ALWAYS smelt disgusting and was slimy. Also found mould in the dry sauna.. for £42 a month you would expect better. And the on site cafe is a complete rip off. Didn’t even have fruit 💀 Annoying too coz you have to sign up for 3 months..

My first time at the leisure centre. I went for hydrotherapy. The changing rooms were clean. The toilets, of which there are many, were spotless. I lost count of the private showers available, which were also spotless. The pool complex is fantastic. No over chlorinating, comfortable water temperatures and plenty of lifeguards. There is also a spa. What a fantastic experience, I cannot wait to go again (I go weekly), so I'm off there for a swim today. Oh, and the staff are amazing!
John Mcfadzean — Google review
Excellent leisure centre! There is plenty of space in the pool, there is a wall that comes up out of the middle, allowing the depth of the pool to be adjusted by staff, so it can be 2 metres deep or shallower. There are also two smaller sized pools for younger children.
Elsewhere there is a steam room/sauna, gym and climbing wall.
While you can pay for each activity as you go, I would highly recommended getting a membership, so you can book activities in advance and them sign up for the other classes and activities that they have on offer

Booked for family swim time, unfortunately the inflatable was broken but we were reassured there would be floats and toys available for the kids to use. Pool was absolutely freezing and the lifeguards were completely joyless and overstrict.(a lad had to be personally escorted to retrieve his float from the other pool) Pool depth set for 1 metre so no jumping in allowed. There were a few pool floats available but you were not allowed to sit / stand on them etc. No option to try other pools- totally restricted to one only. Such a shame as the facilities are great otherwise - just need to get the lifeguards to smile a bit and add a bit more equipment if inflatable out of action - Ie, balls, goals / nets, woggles etc!
Sarah Marshall's experience at The VC Gallery has been life-changing. Having faced the harshness of people and overcoming cancer, she found solace in this art gallery located in Wales. The gallery has not only restored her faith in humanity but also provided her with a purpose and platform for her artwork. Sarah believes that anyone struggling with mental health or feeling isolated should visit The VC Gallery as it offers a haven of love and community support.
I'm Sarah Marshall and The VC gallery Saved my life. In my life I have seen how cruel and harsh people can be. After beating cancer I moved to Wales to escape domestic violence and exploitation. My journey was not an easy one. I had tried to take my life several times. Then I found the VC gallery. They have supported me and restored my faith in humanity. A real pocket of love in an unkind world! The benifit to our community is never-ending. I now have a purpose and a platform for my art. I would explore anyone struggling with their mental health or feeling isolated to take a wander through our doors. You really wont regret it!!

The Scolton Manor is a 60-acre country park that houses a Victorian Manor Museum. The park also features a lake, gardens, stables, beekeeping center and tearoom.
Pleasant country park for walking, dog friendly and a couple of nice cafes. Do be alert though for black bears in the woods, they have a liking for sausage rolls and albatross.

We only explored a little bit of the park because is started to rain.... Best paek in the St Davids area! Especially the zip wire for parents my 4 yo managed I all by himself, loved the train too.
Sarah Brunt — Google review
We've been here countless times and never thought to review it. It really it a fab, inexpensive place to visit. You only pay for the car park and the rest is good old fashioned family fun. There are cracking playground areas, zip wire, swings etc and in the forest as you follow the trail is a new wooden fortress for the kids. Fab. There's a great cycle trail and a fun bumpy cycle area too. You can visit the manor house for a fee. Lovely cafe for meals and drinks. There's a walled garden also and other nature things at the top bear the Manor house. My only slight grumble was only 1 toilet was open in the cafe area in total for men, women and kids. Not sure they cannot open the toilets as I've been to lots of places with toilets that are open as normal. The other thing was the plaques with information on in the forest, were blank and some of the musical instruments were broken which is a shame as they wouldn't take much to fix. In all a lovely place to visit for a few hours.

We often walk our dog here when visiting the area. It's £4.00 to park for 2 hours, £4.50 upto 4 hours, £6.00 for the day or you can purchase an annual car parking ticket from the station shop which costs £35.00. There's plenty of space to walk and play. Rhododendrons are in bloom at the moment. The quiet walled garden is lovely to see as it changes with the seasons. It's a great place for picnics. Very family friendly with lots of play areas.

There's a lot to explore at Scolton Manor, not just the Victorian manor house and its period displays. There's a lovely walled garden, the sculpture trail is a wonderful way to learn about traditional Welsh stories, whether you are young or old, and the beekeeping centre has live video feeds into the bee hives. The station farm shop sells some delightful handmade local products, and with 60 acres of parkland to explore, it's a great day out.

Beautiful setting. Easy access. Disable persons friendly. Pay for parking via phone. The Manor is well worth a visit with interesting exhibits. Grounds extensive and child and dog friendly.

We get to go here everytime we're in pembroke, we love this place ...great for families, free to explore the acres of woodland, and fields.
There's a kiddies play park & visitor centre. There's a charge to get into the Manor house...and there's an apiary nearby with a display centre showing a short film seeing what the bees get up to during their short life span...(all that's free to view, as is a visit to the walled garden, where you can purchase fresh vegetables that are in season).
Plenty of toilets on site, and a nice little cafe serving a tasty choice of food.
Great day out with or without the kids.

Fantastic day out for Halloween. We did the selfie booths in the green she'd, the haunted trail in the manor house, had pumpkin soup and hot chocolate in the cafe, then did the bug hunt in the walled garden. Finally we walked through the woods along the sculpture trail and found the hidden fort in the woods, the pirate ship park and ended in the park by the visitors centre. We had a 5 year old and a grandmother with us and everyone enjoyed. Definitely worth a visit.
Ellen Davies — Google review
Such a fantastic place for a day out with children - but probably best when it's not raining too hard. Lots of open fields, play areas, nature walks through woodland, walled garden, bees, bike trail etc. The house is interesting but probably not for little children. Will be great when the train section is open. Café is OK, not exceptional but adequate certainly.
The Haverfordwest Farmers Market is a fantastic place to find an abundance of exceptional local produce, including top-notch food, preserves such as jams and marmalade, fresh fish, breads, meats, and vegetables. Additionally, there is a remarkable cheese stall that offers a wide selection of cheeses sourced from a nearby dairy in North Pembrokeshire / Cardiganshire. This stall also features an excellent range of chili sauces in varying levels of heat.
Every Friday 9am to 2pm the farmers market is the perfect place for residents and visitors to pickup locally grown vegetables, meat, eggs, cheese, preserves, flowers and more! Meet the local producers and take home some special local products to enjoy.
Ali Vince — Google review
Our first visit and a little disappointed to be truthful. There were only five or six stalls none of them overstocked or eye catching to the customers. I do understand its winter and the number of customers is limited and the fact the stall holders are standing out in the cold but still not impressed. We'll try it again later in the year. I must said that the waterside location was nice and I'm sure even better in the summer.

This is a great farmers market, plenty of amazing local produce, really good quality food, jams, marmalade, fish, breads, meat and vegetables.
There is also a really good cheese stall, with local cheeses from a dairy in North Pembrokeshire / Cardiganshire (it's on the border), which sells a fair range of cheeses, a great chilli sauce in ordinary, medium and hot! If you're lucky, they may even have their fresh 2 to 3 day old fresh soft cheese, but this goes very fast.
The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 star is inconsistency of suppliers attendance and being a little pricey, but well worth the money for the produce.
I always go when I am able.
Ben Cook — Google review
We purchased some cakes from a seller in the market today. These are the worst cakes I have ever purchased from a farmers market. The cakes were burnt and dry, the brownies didn't taste of chocolate and the flapjack turned into a crumbled mess as soon as the packet was opened. This person either had a very off day and made the worst batch of cakes (and if that was the case should not have sold them) or is just not able to make cakes up to the standard to sell commercial.

tbh with you its decent, the food and the atmosphere was cracking. however my 1 star review has come about due to a pube being found on my turnip. overall tho it was a good shout to have this market

The Haverfordwest Priory Museum is home to a collection of excavated artifacts, including relics from the apostolic era. The garden is an ideal site for self-reflection and quiet contemplation.
Lovely site of old!
Seeing what was once a garden is super, free to enter the grounds general quiet so pick a nice time and it's fantastic, if the river is running high the it's close by.
Shame about the road bridge in the background.

These are the remains of a priory going back to the 1200's but only two information boards at the site, one for the priory and the other for the garden. Pleasant site close to the river but very wet underfoot when we visited. There was a bank of four CCTV cameras near the entrance, unclear why. Free parking on the road nearby, and dogs on leads allowed.
Roy Sirl — Google review
Easily accessible priory ruins next to the river
Gareth S — Google review
I worked on the archaeological excavations on the site in the 90's and I was really disappointed with what has been done with the priory site. The only information is a history board by the entrance so unless you know what you're looking at you won't get much from the site. We found so much in the excavations but it's like it's all been forgotten.

If you are in Haverfordwest find your way over to the Priory ruins. Only a few minutes walk along the river from Riverside shopping.

The ruins are not very big, so it does not take to long to see everything, good to combine with a visit to the Castle.

First time this season went to watch Haverfordwest FC( 'The Bluebirds') play in the Welsh Premier. Good free parking available just outside the ground and close nearby.
At the kiosk entrance the charge is currently Adult £7.50, Concessions £5 & U16s free (and the guy who sells club raffle ticks may also catch you there for a £1 or 3!!)
To watch you are free to stand or move about a bit down two sides of the pitch (the smaller stand is out of bounds and unavailable at mo.).
We sat in the main covered stand(which has pillars which can impede vision a tiny bit), but also stood for a while behind the goal at the entrance while we queued for a half-time cuppa & chips from the clubhouse kitchen which offers a burger van style menu.
The game itself was competitive and entertaining played on the wide pitch and we really enjoyed it despite the fact at the final whistle the Bluebirds had lost!!
Well organised stadium with stewards in evidence , modest friendly family oriented crowds, good takeaway catering, clean & tidy toilet facilities and free parking add up to a venue worth considering if you'd enjoy a soccer outing at a very reasonable price. Give it a try!!
