This beach is a popular seaside resort in Conwy North Wales UK, and is known for its cleanliness and lovely sand. It can get busy during peak times, but this doesn't detract from the overall experience.
Lovely sandy beach great for the dog to run about on. Parking 50p per hour, right next to it which I think in season would get very full. On a spring Saturday not many cars. Facilities at opposite ends from the restaurant which unfortunately had stopped serving takeaway coffee when we got there so get there before 4

One of the most beautiful beaches I ever went to. The sandy area is very clean, the water is extremely clean, nice seating area and the beach is not crowded.

Very impressed with our recent visit! Beautiful sandy beach and very very clean water, I haven't seen this beach that busy in YEARS. The council have spent lots of money investing in it and it really shows. Plenty of parking, perfect for riding bikes along the coast, endless sandy beach with shower heads to wash off sandy bodies and feet on the pathway, toilet facilities, ice cream huts. I recommend taking a picnic as the beach is quite a way out of the main attractions/town but it is a really nice beach now they have worked on it. When I last visited there were diggers and heavy machinery but now its ready for you to visit and it's definitely a place to take the kids for a swim or paddle!

Disabled parking is free all day. I parked my powerchair on the concrete right by the sandy beach. A short roll to the centre to use the loo, grab some bottled water and a cheeky home made gluten and peanut free lemon drizzle cake. Yum! Beach was lovely and a really friendly ice cream van seller nearby. Spent two days of our holiday here and it was gorgeous. Lovely and clean beach and weather was spot on.

Outstanding golden sands beach and friendly too I visited today at high tide and still so much room for everyone there was 2 refreshment trucks on the prom and the owners were friendly and this seaside has the smallest pier I love the scenery of the Irish sea and you can also see Rhyl in the distance as it was a sunny clear day the sea was lovley and calm and had a fantastic experience paddling in the sea and had a lovley walk down the prom and pier the sea water was clean and I recommend this is the best beach for swimming in North Wales

Great sandy beach. Parking for about 100 cars across the stretch. Arrived at 10am plenty of spaces midday people driving round. People searching for parking by 12. £7 whole day parking. No arcades. Or pier. Great family day out. 3 lattes and 3 ice creams was £20 but ok on a Sunday free parking after 4pm

One of the best beaches I've ever been to. Wide and long. Even if there are many people, there is enough space for everyone.

Great place to go. Recently renewed and I think they make more car parking space because of busiest beach, car parking machine was not start so parkong was free for us. Nice ckean beach, there was paid toilet in cafe 30p. But some free toilet was there crosse the road. Easily find on Google map. Lots of car park space. Friendly people. Water was blue and ckean., me n kidz really enjoyed. Wheelchair and pushchair access.

Fantastic day again! Love the sound of the sea and the sun while bird watching. Saw a gull catch a fish and other gulls flying by using a monocular. So clean it is feels like a wildlife haven. I'm new to bird watching so would love to know the name of the bird sitting on the pole in the middle of the sea. I couldn't get a good photo of it but included a few in hope of trying to identify it.

We visited Colwyn Bay beach yesterday (23.08.2021) after reading reviews on Google maps. We had a fantastic day in the sunshine. The beach was a great size with lots of space. The beach had clean toilets and a fantastic place to buy food and coffee. Parking was easy with lots of spaces. I think we paid £4 for 24 hours. Highly recommended.

Me and my partner LOVE this beach 🥰 it's such a clean, lovely place and the public toilets aren't too far away which are also very clean. The only thing I'd say is during peak times, get there early. Parking is all along the road but fills up quickly. Would highly recommend for a day out ❤️ if you don't like sand though, don't bother haha
The Welsh Mountain Zoo is a conservation park situated in the picturesque landscape of North Wales. It offers visitors the chance to observe rare animals such as red pandas, tigers and snow leopards in their natural habitats. The zoo also has daily animal encounters and allows visitors to experience life as a keeper for a day, but advanced booking is necessary. Additionally, it houses an array of wildlife from around the world like lemurs and penguins.
What a great day out! We loved the mountain Zoo, fabulous knowledge about all the animals, loved the camels and the vulture was really up for a photoshoot with us. It was impressive to see them so close, so big yet graceful! Very much recommend visiting here, it's a great day out for everyone. There were a few cafes, and play parks and picnic spots so you could really make a day of it.

A very good zoo to go too, not too big and can easily see everything in 4 hours, you could easily spend all day here.
Events on each day showing the animals off.
Staff very friendly and knowledgeable.
Definitely recommend coming here instead of the bigger zoos.
It has everything.
As it's in Wales expect some slopes when walking around.

Really enjoyed our day here. The sea loins and the bear were our highlights. The sea lion talk is great and the keeper very informative and friendly and obviously adores them. The signing is confusing but we managed, just ask someone. The weather was awful at times but we managed and it was worth it.

I was on my way to support Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Football Club - give me an L, give me an L, give me an A.....etc - and I stopped off at the WMZ (not the White Mountain Zone in Arizona, that you're inevitably going to assume I am referencing). This was Wales, land of leeks, dragons, and my fathers (not mine, but I have eaten Welsh Rarebit so there is Welsh in me). Beautiful views and lots of birds and little monkeys running around. No dragons to be seen - do they hibernate?

We enjoyed our time and spent about 5 hours here. The zoo is better suited to those who are fairly active as it is very hilly. My four year old was worn out from all the walking. The zoo is situated high up - giving beautiful views in all directions. There are two diners, one was closed as it is quiet season. There is a great children's play area. The car park is free. There are some wonderful animals to see, our favourites were the brown bear, tigers, snow leopards and chimps. Some of the enclosures could be bigger to allow the animals more space. Some areas around the zoo look in need of a revamp. We did witness some works happening in certain areas. Overall a lovely day out.

Fantastic mountain zoo on a sunny day . The views are breathtaking and the zoo is so peaceful with lovely animals. Sea lion feed was particularly enjoyable. They also have rescue seals that come to recover to the zoo, they looked very relaxed indeed having a little holiday 😊

This zoo is child friendly. The staff we interacted with were lovely. We took our 21/2 grandson and he loved it He loved using the signposts around the zoo to get round along with the map of the zoo. We took a pushchair but he walked the whole time.
If you struggle walking it does get steep in some parts. As it says it's a mountain or side of one. The views are stunning in some parts of the zoo.
Not a load of animals like other zoos but still a good variety.
We are going back and going to buy a years membership. Worth every penny.

Really good zoo and reasonably priced. We paid a visit during our stay in Llandudno and was pleasantly surprised. There are plenty of different animals to see and some stunning views of the surrounding area. We could have stayed longer but had other things booked that day. The penguin parade was fun too. Our 2 year old loved it but is quite demanding as there are lots of steep inclines, so bring a pushchair if you don't fancy carrying your kids in the heat.

We enjoyed a lovely day at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, with incredible views over Colwyn Bay, which were a lovely surprise.
A good selection of animals to see, although we couldn't see some of them as they were a bit shy, hiding in their enclosures, but this may have been because it was quite a hot day and they were staying out of the sun. It was also a showery day and we found many places to shelter from rain.
There are lots of lovely spaces to eat a picnic and spectacular displays of dahlias all over the site when we visited in August.
There is also a lovely play park for the kids, with a handy ice cream kiosk nearby.

Lovely zoo! Been here many times over the last 30 years and will keep coming back. Sure it's not as big as some but it more than makes up for it in character. Set over many levels and terrains so be prepared for some walking and some of it is pretty hidden but it's all worth it. Just be aware you are high up and exposed so it gets very windy. Animals are all happy and well looked after, staff are nice and friendly. One final word "penguin parade" ok it's two words but it's very important. Absolutely worth a visit if you are in the area.

3.5/5 - we visited on a Monday in the summer holidays and it was busy. Amazing views and some special enclosures that I haven’t seen elsewhere before, the sea lions and monkeys were particularly good and you can get really close. Not a lot there though, we spent 5 hours doing several circuits and having a picnic. Our children are slightly older (14/10/9) so it may wear younger ones out quicker. Shame there is little visibility of the animals when they are inside / asleep. Lots of no shows despite popping back several times during the day. Drinks expensive £8+ for 2 x coffees but much of a muchness these days. Gates open at 9.30 on the dot not a second before so don’t arrive early. Play area was excellent for all ages and made great use of the space. As a family we really enjoy visiting zoos and couldn’t really give it anymore than 3.5 in comparison to others we have visited.

The Welsh Mountain Zoo appears small on initial arrival. However it provides a full day of enjoyment. Situated a short distance into Colwyn Heights, the zoo provides free parking. Tickets are reasonably priced bearing in mind the conservation work the zoo is also involved in. You get to see so many animals from the snow Leopard to the Alligator. The Sea Lions are impressive and hopefully the pictures and short videos attached reflect this. There are children's play area, restaurant, cafe and gift shop. For those with young children in prams need to consider the area is steep to walk at times. Paths are good to walk on though. We'll worth a visit

Really good local zoo with a great collection of animals.
The zoo has a great layout and you can easily spend most of the day there. There are superb views out to see and of the surrounding hills in the distance.
Really reasonably priced for what you get.
Plenty of free parking on site.
Is quite hilly, can imagine that provides some accessibility difficulties for some.
Well worth a visit.
Cafe is simply fine, could be better.

Lovely little zoo. My son loved it more so the tigers and the massive snakes. The views are amazing and the shows they do are really good and interesting

So we visited on weds 16th ( booked tickets online ).
We were guided to the overflow car park which was grass no issues at all.
Walked over the road to the zoo and presented my red code to the man in the hut.
Gave us maps and on we went.
So below are the points about the zoo.
1.toilets clean and presentable.
2. Very hilly in parts..yes it’s a mountain zoo so just making people aware.
3.plenty of places to sit and eat a picnic or just cool down.
4 staff friendly with smiles 👍
Some bad points that I thought below.
1.little penguin cafe was so manic and busy the queue was out the door and I though this should of been addressed the people working there where fine they just needed way more staff for such a busy day.
( maybe management have meetings to discuss weather and footfall etc? ) but yes very busy in there.
2 signage wasn’t great for attractions they where all over the place.
May I suggest painted animal pictures guiding people to the main animal enclosures? Just a thought.
Apart from the above issues it was fine for a few hours just the couple of points above to address.

This is a brilliant zoo, with plenty of animals and wildlife to see. A very picturesque place and stunning views on a sunny day. Booking in advance made entry quick and easy. A map is provided to find your way around. The only improvement I could see was perhaps putting the numbers from the map on the signs around the park to make navigation easier. Well worth a visit

Really loved this zoo, great location and easy to get to. Wasn't expecting the animals to be out as the weather wasn't great but we saw loads of the animals I wanted to. Only negative i'd say is that maybe the place needed a some paint as some places looked worn. But other than that, fun day out.

We had an amazing experience during our recent visit to Welsh Mountain Zoo. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The zoo is incredibly spacious and houses a wide variety of animals, allowing you to get up close to most of them, even being able to touch some. It's a perfect place for a leisurely walk, especially when accompanied by kids.
The zoo not only offers a fantastic animal viewing experience but also provides additional amenities such as a cafeteria and a play area with swings for the children. The kids had a blast playing there! The only disappointment was that we couldn't catch the tigers in action as both of them were fast asleep. Nonetheless, seeing the majestic pairs of tigers was still a beautiful sight, even if they were asleep.
Without a doubt, Welsh Mountain Zoo is worth every penny spent. Compared to other zoos in the country, it stands out as a top-notch destination. Our family purchased a family ticket, which turned out to be slightly more cost-effective, and it definitely enhanced the overall value of our visit. If you're looking for a place that both kids and adults will love, this zoo is a must-visit.
The promenade, also known as a boardwalk or esplanade, is a long path typically located along the shore of a body of water. It serves as a recreational area and gathering place for people to stroll, exercise, and enjoy the scenic views. The promenade offers an opportunity for leisurely walks while taking in the beauty of the coastline or waterfront. It is often lined with shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues that cater to visitors seeking relaxation and amusement.
It was a delightful experience visiting Bay Gallery, where the staff provided exceptional assistance and were very pleasant. This was my third visit and once again the customer service was excellent. I made a purchase of a large framed photograph by Dave Smith, which exceeded my expectations. The gallery showcases original artwork, woodturning, ceramics, and jewelry created by local artists. The prices may be slightly steep for some items but overall it is a fantastic initiative to support local talent.
Great gallery with a nice selection of paintings, glass items and jewellery and cards. Felt able to browse but staff also very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

Good shopping centre with free parking for, I think, two hours. Actually, since COVID it has been free all day in the lower level. Worth going on Saturday morning as there is quite a nice Street Market outside the Bayview centre. This extends up the main shopping street in Colwyn.
Brian Waters — Google review
Went here yesterday, it's great if you know what you want, but sometimes you want a new chemist item, Morrisons has limited space to display at pharmacy, Savers doesn't seem to stock new to market items, and I find Super drug a little too expensive for me. Other than that particular gripe, I do like a nose around if time permits. Interesting Crystal's etc stall.

Bay view is still doing quite well despite the death of the high street all around it.
Some great shops in there.
My son loves going there.
I really don't like the underground parking area, it's dark, dingy and very dated. Loads of kids hang out there at night, messing around.
You can get most things there.
Gluten free options in the cafe would prevent exclusion.

Lovely local indoor shopping centre with a bright, clean and airy interior. Good mixture of shops, and smaller bargain chain stores, but not the top end market names. Also great town centre location for the integrated Morrisons store. There is ample free short stay car parking, toilet facilities and a couple of coffee shops, Costa and and open plan one in the entrance area of the centre. Recommened for quick local shopping, but not for a more in depth shopping experience.
Today I visited Llyfrgell Bae Colwyn Bay Library after a long time. Kate, a helpful young girl, showed me how to borrow books and even provided information on computer courses. Eirias Park, a 50-acre recreational area that has been in existence since 1921, features a sports complex as well as leisure facilities such as a picnic spot and playground. The park also boasts of vast open spaces ideal for children and dogs to play. Additionally, the kiddie's playing area is commendable, while the park's boating pond adds to its allure. There are several sporting options available too including football pitches, tennis courts and bowls.
Great venue for Simply Red concert. Easy to get around plus good choice at the bar and food outlets. Will be definitely coming back.

Went for the circus. Granddaughter loved the park and seeing the swans and ducks on the lake. Very safe and great big field to run off energy. Was clean and well kept equipment in the park and fully enclosed. The circus was fantastic and a great summer edition to the park. Plenty of parking and would be great for a picnic on a Sunny day.
Kelly Green — Google review
The park used to be nice, now half of it is a building site with cheap new builds and what is left of the Civic centre has been abandoned. Fine if you need somewhere to walk your dog or you are using some of the adjacent sports facilities, but hugely let down by an incompetent town council. The bowling greens are the only real flat bit of grass which unfortunately attracts alcohol and football. So I expect even the bowls isnt particularly pleasant there either.
Ben Kennedy — Google review
Thankfully, the route to the children's play equipment is paved. The grassy areas can be waterlogged and very muddy in places, which even makes for difficult cross-country race conditions... so take your wellies in winter if you're going for a walk and expect your dog to need a wash. Overall, it's a pleasant urban green space with some great views out to sea & but I expect it's at its best in when dry.

It was hot and sunny, an unusual event, but the park was very quiet, not many kids were about and they're still on school holidays. There's a cafe there, I purchased a flat white normally this is strong, but on tasting it, it was more of a burnt coffee than strong. I will just stick with a soft drink next time.

The Colwyn Bay Street Market provided a refreshing change with plenty of diverse stalls. It brought much-needed trade to the town, which is lacking in regular market stalls these days. The artisan street market, held every third Saturday of the month, showcased an abundance of exceptional stalls offering handcrafted and homemade goods. The vibrant atmosphere was enhanced by live music and street artists. It was a delight to witness the emergence of new stores in this revived market environment.
Lovely to see all the new stores. A joy to see the market again .

Saturdays and Tuesdays are market days in Colwyn Bay. A fairly typical street market, nothing too special or unusual about the items on sale. Having said that occasionally one finds a treat of a stall offering local produce. We used to have a continental market that visited the town (a pitty but not of late). On a sunny day the market and even the town is worth a visit!

This comes under one of the worst built buildings in the UK , a fortune was spent on redoing the whole of this area of beech including a false beech which is the best part of it as the sand is there every day of the year. The restaurant is expensive and more for holiday makers than for locals. Because of this it forced the closure of some of our lovely kiosks and our beloved pier which had a long history. Plenty of disabled spots , parking is chargeable.

Pwllycrochan Woods offer an ideal setting for exploration, with diverse wildlife and abundant plant life. The well-maintained paths traverse a steep hillside, providing picturesque views of Colwyn Bay, Rhos on Sea, Rhyl, and Prestatyn through the lush branches and foliage. The area attracts runners, joggers, walkers, and dog owners alike. Unfortunately, there is a slight issue with litter as some individuals have left full black bags behind instead of using the available bins.
Beautiful hidden gem, peaceful with breathtaking views of the town and sea. Lots of Yew trees and little flowers, not too steep or tiring, very family and dog friendly walk for all fitness levels. Definitely wear walking boots as in wet weather it can get quite muddy on the path.

Ancient woodland that has several colour coded routes with varying difficulty levels of climb. The paths are clear but can be muddy so boots recommended

These woods are perfect for exploration, the wildlife, the flora and fauna is wondeful. Many well kept and wide paths all located on a fairly steep hillside. The views across Colwyn Bay towards the sea, to Rhos on Sea and over towards Rhyl and Prestatyn are framed and seen through branches and foliage. Runners, joggers, walkers and dog walkers. One too many discarded and full black bags, a branch is no substitute for a bin of which there are plenty. There is no dedicated parking but access from the town is easy. A walk from either end of the woods starting from, at one end Kings Road or at the other end Nant y Glyn Road allow for easy access. Access is also available from Colwyn Hights.

Great wooded walk with varying lengths of walks clearly signposted. However it is a very steep woodland and not an easy walk for some

The Old Colwyn War Memorial, a sculptural monument erected to commemorate those who served in wars, stands prominently in the town of Old Colwyn. This magnificent statue serves as a symbol of remembrance and gratitude for the courageous individuals who sacrificed their lives during times of conflict. Positioned centrally within the community, this memorial is a testament to the valor and bravery displayed by countless soldiers throughout history. Its presence offers an opportunity for reflection on the collective sacrifices made by these brave men and women.
Over ten years ago, I attended Woodhill Baptist Church for Christmas Carols. Although the reason for bringing this up now is unclear, it was a delightful place with a strong sense of community. This Christian church stands out for its engaging worship, incorporating enjoyable songs that resonate with worshippers. The preaching is excellent and the congregants are friendly, fostering fellowship over tea or coffee after each service. Their lovely building houses a biblical and uplifting service, creating a welcoming atmosphere for families.
Came along for Christmas Carols over a decade ago. Why this has come up now, I'm not totally sure, it was a lovely place though. Love Baptists. They put fun song into worship and make it relatable.

Colwyn Bay Football Club is a fantastic local team, providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all. The club boasts a well-stocked bar with an impressive variety of beverages, exceeding expectations for such a venue. The matches themselves are highly enjoyable, showcasing entertaining football. The stadium is charming and the locals are amiable, while there is also a good pub conveniently located nearby. Despite the occasional language barrier when visiting from another country, the overall experience at Colwyn Bay Football Club is commendable.
Well kept club. Good facilities, clean and well maintained. Pitches are looked after and great for grass roots football. Only visited once but no complaints.

New stand has made a big difference to the ground (improvement). Always found it a friendly club when visiting. Decent bar, didn't try the food on my last visit, but food kiosk was very busy last night, so must still be OK.

Went to watch Colwyn Bay v Pontypridd with my son, who was doing a live blog on the game.
Been a few years since I've been and was pleasantly surprised by the way it has developed over the years.
It's a shame the Seagulls lost.

Great local football club! Speaking as a Nottingham Forest fan dropping in whilst on holiday in the area.
Friendly family atmosphere and a decent bar with a much greater section of drinks you'd imagine at such a venue.
The particular match we saw was an entertaining one. Up the gulls!

Brilliant, Spirit filled church, those that attend are friendly and welcoming to all. Excellent on point word each week, I couldn't have felt more at home than here. They have a live band each week for worship, whose talents are truly God given. A lovely place where God is glorified, a must go place if your looking to expand your knowledge and understanding of the Lord.

A family friendly church where a warm welcome awaits for all. A church that is passionate about Jesus and demonstrating his love to all people in the local community.
A church where my children are free to have fun and be themselves and enjoy the many activities on offer. They love the Funday Monday's and Fun Nights.
A church that looks to meet the needs of the local community from Seniors Afternoon Teas to Community Clothes Swap days. A church that has worked with local charities to support young people and families.

I moved to Wales a few months ago from the USA and found this church. The people really care about everyone and are always there to help. I had to go back to the USA to start my visa to live there, I can't wait to get back to my very loving and Christian family. If you want a place that's welcoming and non judgemental go there love to all I miss you.

The Colwyn Leisure Centre offers various outdoor pitches, a running track, swimming pool, gym and fitness suite. The changing rooms are well-planned and designed with the needs of individuals in mind. The pool is pleasant and accessible to all, thanks to the sloping entry option for those with disabilities. Staff members are not only polite but also friendly - from reception staff to lifeguards.
An absolutely fabulous experience, we visited today with our SEN daughter, what a joy it was to have a PROPER well thought out changing room, the pool was lovely and whoever thought of the sloping entry option for the less able deserves a pat on the back! Staff were not only the “expected” polite, they were damned nice, from the reception to the lifeguards BIG thumbs up! Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre……you did great! 10/10

Have been back over a year now since stopping when Covid closed all the services. Have to say that the current gym experience is way superior to that previously. Having the gym in the main hall is great. The equipment is good. But above all the new staff have made a huge difference from before Covid. They are friendly, helpful and knowledgable and ait is a pleasure to attend the gym. Ifvthere is a negative it is that the standard of cleanliness out of the gym, in the rest of the building is not the best

I think this is the best place in North Wales for you to find your rescued dog or cat. They really care for their animals here. Many people don't know that they also have a vet who attends part-time every week where you can obtain treatment for any sick or injured animals. I believe their prices for treatments is lower than most other vets, depending on your circumstances.

Good gym with Watson equipment!
Just an update unfortunately now has lots of members and always to busy!
Its needs more equipment llandudno junction seems to get more items and the bay gets left behind.
open a little later like 10pm or 24 hour.
*Need to stop putting 1980s music on the radio
i cant use earphones when training with people and the music is poor unfortunately its not gym music.* maybe in a disco when your drunk!
Don't use the vending machine takes your money twice and don't get a drink when you ring the company they say it's a mistake and will reverse. (The money left my account)

This is the friendliest gym I've ever been to. The staff are all really friendly and make sure if you're new that you fully understand what machines will suit you best for what you want. For anyone who is anxious, they are very patient and let you know what times are the quietest!

Major incident in the swimming pool when my daughter attended her swimming lesson, attendent let her go under when she couldn't swim, and when I say under I mean 4 times, me and my son watched on horror as my daughter tried desperately to reach the top! Another mother also witnessed it and said how utterly traumatising it was to watch.
The actual swimming instructor was with another child, didn't see a thing.
Needless to say I went absolutely bonkers, my poor daughter won't even get in the pool now, they have ruined her confidence she's petrified.
Manager tried his best to sort it, but it's to late.
Dont send your child here for lessons, they arnt observed properly by the swimming attendent.
Swimming instructors attitude was....."would you like to change the day she comes"
How on earth would that help?
Smaller groups and attendent who watch the child at all times I think, very poor attitude off instructor not even a apology.
Although I will say manager was very nice.

Dave especially. Very helpful and makes you feel at ease.
Important when you have high anxiety and going somewhere new.
One of the lifeguards was also very helpful and friendly. But all staff I came across were really nice.
