Wery interesting WW2 history, and so many original pieces from the war on display.

Historcal place worth visiting, only 3 Eur admission (2023).
Small uphill walk from the center of Platanias, that keep you warm :) But only 400 meters, so no worries, it is worth both the stable temperatures inside the cave and the view from the church above.

Brilliant !!! A must see for war enthusiasts. Underground tunnels dug by the locals during WW2 . Steeped in history . Genuine war rifles and guns on display . Enjoyed it .

A lot of interesting items and photos to see, wonderful museum for any WWII/history lover! Very affordable price and friendly staff. Inside the museum there is also a TV showing English documentary and the sound is played on speakers around the museum.

Very nice little museum hidden away in upper Platanias. Only small entrance fee. Definitely worth a visit

Great value place to visit. Really enjoyed looking at the artefacts and photographs, as well as the footage and narration. Fantastic little place to visit. Staff very helpful also. No need to book in advance.

We visited twice whilst staying in Agia Marina, firstly on an evening trip on the little fun train which was €12 each. If we had known this place was so close to us we wouldn't have bothered with the train. The trip only allowed 20 mins to look around which was not enough time. Hence the second visit, where we walked up the hill. You can get a taxi which I think will cost €8 from Agia Marina side, Atlas Supermarket if your not used to hills and of course the temperature is a factor in August.
It opens 10am-12 and 5pm-7pm, closed Sundays and run by volunteers.
It cost us €3 each entry charge. It's really interesting, with lots of photos and memorabilia from the time and an absolutely stunning view from the church above. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Some interesting history about the German occupation of Crete in WW2. It’s small and doesn’t take a long time to walk through but worth a visit if you‘re in the area.

A historic place from WWII. The guy working was really eager to share so much knowledge - such a great guy. My son is very much into history about WWII, but was amazed about the knowledge the guy had.
It is not very big and it is free. It is possible to donate to the volunteer workers and please do, they are doing a great job in keeping history. A steep walk up the hill but the view is worth it.

Former shelter built by the Germans during WWI now serves as a small museum to remind the events of the Battle of Crete. About 200 m of underground corridors now run by local volunteers
The Porto Platanias Beach Resort & Spa is an elegant property that provides luxurious accommodations, a spa, and six pools for its guests. Complimentary Wi-Fi access and breakfast are also available. The hotel boasts beautiful swimming pools and a stunning beach. However, the food selection lacks flavor despite offering various options. One guest complained about being charged the same rate for three rooms, yet one room did not include a kitchenette or an extra bathroom as advertised.
We had the best week last week at Porto Platanias Beach Resort. Our two girls, 4 and 7 had such a great time at the mini club, it was a sanctuary for our red haired girl who often needed a break from the sun. The animation team were so trustworthy and provided so much fun for the girls all week! Top marks to them! The location of the hotel couldn’t be better and the food was great and varied. Great service, the rooms were cleaned every day and we were always met with a smile by all members of the staff. We will come again! We have been home for two days and our girls are already asking when we’re going back 👌😊😍!

Very nice hotel, it is clean and the rooms are big and well maintained. The staff is very nice and friendly. Many beautiful swimming pools and gorgeous beach. The disadvantages are that the food is mild. There are many kinds, yet they are mostly tastes dull and not spicy. Another dissatisfaction is due to the fact that we've ordered 3 rooms for 3 families and paid the same, yet 1 of the family's got a no kitchenette 1 bathroom instead two. we've reasonably asked them to change it and move the friends nearer they wouldn't done it saying they were fully booked.

Surely you can't have high standards if you are staying here. The food far from tasteful, the service was mediocre. When I would aske them for certain information wouldn't be given with friendliness rather with a angry attitude. I highly recommend not checking in this hotel and look for other options

Great rooms. Well working ac. Lots of effort in the cleaning of the rooms each day.
Breakfast is great but a bit crowded.
They've a good process though so we enjoy the meal.
All the staff are serviceminded, from the receptionist to the cleaner and lifeguards at the pool.
I wish they would be tougher on guest who claims beds at the pool with a towel and then disapears for hours, but that is a thin line to balance on. They are doing their very best I guess.

poor cleanliness, dirty toilets and bathtubs, the stuff did not change our bedsheets for 5 days. The food at the buffet was mediocre, and we had to pay for a bottle of water.

Really nice hotel with nice people who work there. But my experience was not so nice. I got the worst "view" ever in my life. There are 5 or 6 rooms with this view. My room number was 1320 and recomend to anyone to avoid it. Close to this side of the hotel is a building where are staying some teenagers (internationals, some were danish and finish) who probably live there for longer time. They like to scream and party on the night. You will not get the relaxation and sleep you wanted. In one night the police was called to take action.

Very clean, ood beds, very friendly staff, at last the majority of them, and all working in restaurants, cleaning and so on very friendly.
The fact that many rooms are under ground level is not mentioned any where, we først received one of those rooms, and request a better room. Next day we were givende the oppertunity to chose between two rooms. Do they did in deed try to satisfy us.

Very bad hotel. They charge you for everything even when you booked an all inclusive stay in a suite. It's not all inclusive at all!! Service is very bad only when you pay you get good service. The food is very bad and cold. They serve the leftovers at lunch and dinner. It's a 3 *** hotel. I'm very happy to leave and stay in another hotel. I can't wait...

Nice hotel by the sea and the main road with many pools.
Own pool area for adults.
Very friendly staff. Big buffet breakfast.
We liked. 👍🏻😊

Unfortunately, the hotel left us alone, there is no contact with the hotel, I just wanted a baby to sleep with us in our apartment, my small child was supposed to come to the room, they didn't want to do it, my family of 7 people was left without accommodation. I do not recommend it, it is definitely not a hotel for families, I wanted help, The hotel has families with children somewhere. If you're looking for help, you won't find it

We stayed a week at Porto Platanias Beach Resort & Spa. We loved the hotel, very clean rooms, great selection of food. The location is ideal especially for families with kids. The beach is good with shallow water for smaller kids. We were very pleased with everything and would return again.

Honestly such a good hotel, I was so surprised to enter and see the view from the balcony. The rooms are so welcoming here and I would recommend this hotel to literally anyone and everyone. Your room is cleaned in the morning and excellently so. The location is so perfect, just by walking out of the main entrance you gain access to various different shops and by exiting through the back you have the beach literally steps away.

I wouldn't say 5 stars, but 4,5.
Very nice hotel. There are 5 swimming pools, so finding a sun bed is not a big issue.
Fabulous food choice, every day something different.
Couple of bars, but for all inclusive options, just one.
Nice beach just beside the hotel. Sun beds there are 10eur per day, which is a lot I think.
In check out day, we received all-inclusive coupon valid until 19.00, which was very nice.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience which I would like to repaet in future.

Really nice hotel with lovely rooms and good
restaurants all central in the town. The staff was always very helpful only one big downside…... The sunbeds or should
I say the lack of them. Even though the hotel
has a rule of no reservation with towels is
allowed EVERY bed is "booked" at 0630.
When you are a family of 3 that comes to Crete to enjoy the pool/sun it is a big drawback that they're aren't enough beds for everyone and many of the beds are reserved but not used until later on the day. (Even the beds by the ocean was all taken)
If you, as a hotel, have the rule you should enforce it by having hotel staff clear “empty”beds every hour or use another way of cleaning the wasted booked sunbeds. Alternatively just remove all the signs saying the it is not allowed to pre-book with your towel.

Beautiful hotel. Right on the beach. Nice clean rooms, good pools (there are several) and the view out towards the sea is amazing. Breakfast is very good with well cooked bacon and eggs etc and plenty of fresh fruit. Dinner is a whole other story - we had booked half board but had to cancel it as it wasn’t edible. There are lots of little restaurants in the local area which offer way better quality food at the same cost as the hotel buffet dinner.
We will come back to this place - something we don’t normally do - it’s that nice. But we won’t book the dinner next time!

We stayed for 1 week at Porto platanias luxury selection! Very nice, modern rooms! Nice pool, very good breakfast! The beach is not my favourite but its ok! Crete has much better beaches!

It was supposed to be a five-star hotel ... but it's probably only on paper, because reality is far from this standard.
A room so simple that it couldn't be more. The walls are empty, with only one picture hidden in a gap.
Cleanliness below criticism, at least 2 weeks of dust lying on every surface.
The staff used the same water for several apartments to wash the floor.
The sheets were changed once for the whole week, the beds made so sloppy that we had to redo it every night as the sheets were quite loose.
However, a big plus for cleanliness and nice appearance on the outside, well-kept plants and often cleaned pavements.
Food ok, especially a big plus for the confectioner, delicious products.
Nice and helpful staff in the restaurant.
Easy access parking available in front of the hotel.
However, all this is not enough to make me return there again.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Friendly staff, clean and big rooms. Food was so good and colourfully presented. Location was convenient with a local bus right outside going to chania in 15mins. Close to lovely coasts so you can take trips on boats there.

In the centre of Platania next to the beach on the main road with what ever comes with that!
Good quality of services
