Les Caves Saint Charles SAS, housed in a 13th-century cellar, offers exclusive Chateauneuf-du-Pape tastings and wine experiences. Their Maitre Sommelier provides insightful knowledge about wine tasting. It's recommended to book tastings in advance as they are by appointment only. Visitors have enjoyed free 60-minute wine tastings and found the scheduling process easy on their user-friendly website.
We had an incredible wine tasting at Les Caves St. Charles on a recent visit to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The area has such a rich wine growing history with so many different wine styles to sample. We couldn’t believe that Les Caves offers FREE 60-minute wine tastings, and scheduling could not be easier on Les Caves’ user-friendly website.
We arrived and were greeted by a lovely, knowledgeable woman who enthusiastically guided us downstairs into an intimate, private tasting room. Les Caves has several private tasting rooms, each below ground and designed as mini caves. For an hour our host guided us through six different local wines, each distinctive in style. At the conclusion, we were free to exit Les Caves owing nothing. Of course, we bought a mixed case of fantastic wine that can’t be purchased in the U.S.
Les Caves was a highlight of our visit to this legendary wine growing region.

Worth visiting if you’re in CDP. We had a tasting conducted by a South African lady (Corna?) Tasting in the cellar is a fun experience.
The wine tastings are free and you can buy bottles after. They also ship around the world. The wines are great but 💸 I think there’s a mark-up vs buying directly from a vineyard.

Got a last minute tasting. Guy was very friendly and informative and we tasted delicious white and red varietals of châteauneuf du pape wines. We learned about the process for traditional and neoclassical wine making in the region and we’re able to send our favorites home. Our favorite tasting in the region.

Great wine tasting- good way to find out about the different wines of Chateauneuf du pape and taste some lovely wines in a brilliant setting.
Sarah Hopkins — Google review
Corna is the best! We were late to our original tasting and she seamlessly rescheduled us for a future date. The tasting with Corna was so informative and fun. This tasting is a great way to capture a range of vineyards and styles in the Chateuneuf region, including younger producers that are breaking away from the traditional approach to Chateuneuf winemaking. Corna was really sweet with our infant son too, even holding him for a bit so my husband and I could enjoy the tastings. I go to Napa and Sonoma annually and this was one of the most welcoming tastings I've done.

What a perfect tasting. Guy, the owner and Master Som was a true gentleman and an excellent guide to the wines of Chateauneuf. We had a case of wine shipped home that could never be found in the states. This visit was first rate and highly recommended. Not to be missed.

We had an excellent time doing a private wine tasting with Guy. His English is excellent and he’s super knowledgeable about local wines. We even ended up buying a case of wine and having it shipped home! Highly recommend! Just don’t forget to reserve in advance.
Château de la Gardine is one of the many vineyards in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, offering a rich history and delightful wine tasting experiences. Visitors have praised the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, as well as the engaging staff who are happy to share their knowledge about the area and winemaking process. The wine cellar is described as wonderful with a lot of history, making it an ideal spot for those interested in learning more about wine production.
A great place for wine tasting. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The lady who helped us was very kind, informative and funny. She was very accessible: She would enjoy every audience. We got plenty of information about the region and the site, and we got to taste 10 different wines. I would definitely recommend this place. It’s a family business and that’s something you feel from the moment you walk in.

We enjoyed an excellent tasting with Florence today. The wines were fantastic and we wish we could have bought more! We also visited a couple of other wineries in Chateauneuf du Pape but this was hands down our favourite.

Wow ! Visited today as part of a wine tour of the region Julie was fabulous . Her knowledge and clear explanations made our experience memorable ! The wines were superb , complex and beautiful to taste . The Chateau and views were so gorgeous , like a picture postcard !
Lindsey EVANS-HUNTER — Google review
This was by far the best wine tasting we had in the region. Florence gave us a great tour, explained the various grape varietals (including where they were located, the soil, etc.) and was extremely friendly. She also made it very easy for us to ship the wine back home to the US (something most other vineyards in the area won't do). Certainly looking forward to coming back!

We had a lovely time. Tour and tasting all without any expectations - although we did end up buying some amazing bottles!

Amazing place. Must try if you are in chateneauf Du Pape. Very nice wines and very reasonably priced.
Michael Hung — Google review
The wine experience was really nice and free. They were really busy, but still she took care of us in the best our guide could. She was doing 3 different things at the same time and she was able to be attentive to us.
We bought a couple of bottles and a bottle of olive oil…only to realize when we got home that the oil was expired! We visited the chateau at the end of September and the oil was expired since February! It didn’t occur to us to check it before we bought it because it never occurred to us that they would have something expired on exhibition…and sell it!
I wrote them an email and after a follow up I got a “we are sorry about that” but they didn’t offer to return the money.
I was very disappointed to say the least. I guess I am used to a different standard of customer service.

We lived in Chateauneuf-du-Pape for three days and visited a few vineyards. This vineyard was without doubt the best! We visited on a calm day and we just had the best afternoon. We didn’t know much about the area and the wine making and the guy who showed us around was very happy to answer all of our stupid questions. It’s a wonderful wine cellar with a lot of history!
The wine tasting was also really fun and interesting where he took time for us. The wines where delicious and we where sorry we couldn’t buy more.
The place itself is very beautiful and I would recommend you to take the ~30 minute walk from the village (on the stone road in the video). Sadly we didn’t take photos inside but we were busy enjoying our time :’))

Very nice place to taste some very nice white (!) and red wine. For me the surprise of this years wine trip that the white is that complex in taste. Thanks a lot for having us and let us taste also your older reds! Recommendation!

We are visiting from Australia and had a great experience here, on advice from a somellier in the town. The most welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, friendly and engaging staff. Beautiful Chateau and surrounds.
Not least, every single wine was rich, complex, and crafted with passion and skill. Certainly up there with the best of the best!

A wine tasting that I will never forget. Once we had our little tour of the wine cellar we had a free wine tasting in a comfortable private space. The tastings ranged from their whites to their many reds..do try the Chateaueauf Du Pape whites, they were absolutely amazing (obviously so are their reds) it was such a lovely surprise. While we tasted the kids were.offered juice and water and were even given some outdoor games to play and keep occupied!

Delicious wines and was very helpful in teaching us a little more about what to expect from wines of the region and specifically Chateauneuf. We bought 2 bottles, wish we'd gotten more.
camden murtagh — Google review
First and foremost - we tried INCREDIBLE wines. Shout out to the white Chateau neuf du Pape edition Marie Leoncie. In the reds, our favs definitely were the Gaston Philippe and the Nulle part ailleurs.
The site (like many places in the part of France) is outstandingly beautiful.
The staff is very kind, dedicated and attentive but the visit could be more approachable (lots of technical terms dropped onto you rather than bending to novices like us).
We will gladly comme back, and will for sure buy the wines back homes.
Domaine de Beaurenard is a small and beautiful wine house located in the village, offering amazing white and red wines, including their Old Vines varieties. Visitors can enjoy a wonderful experience by exploring the cellars and tasting the exceptional products. The winery takes pride in sharing insights about their winemaking process, including using the moon's influence and displaying samples of different grapes.
Beautiful Chateau of the 8th generation family run winery.
You can do tours of the winery and tastings. Beaurenard has a very good quality selection of wines to try and buy from here.
This is next to the museum which also gets busy, so try and go earlyish otherwise tastings may also be busy which is not as ideal.

Excellent biodynamic expressions from this Châteauneuf-du-Pape winery. We enjoyed their blending techniques of many grapes in the same bottle. We tried both white and red wines and a fortified Grenache as well.

Wonderful tasting.
So calm and warm hospitality - one can feel the that it is a family winery.
Really great wines especially their Chateau 2014 - extraordinary nose and complex tastes. A special wine.
The 2018 Rasteau is must-buy. Very tasty.

Wonderful experience at this family owned winery. We visited the cellar and tasted wines including their Old Vines white and red CdP and an older vintage. I wanted to visit this winery to taste the Boisrenard Blanc 2020 (it is small production that we don't receive often in Canada) Thank you to very knowledgeable Sylvie for this wonderful experience to visit the cellar and opportunity to try this wine.
Matthew Simon — Google review
We arrived at the winery shortly before lunch, not having booked a tasting, but Sylvie happily welcomed us to join another group. She let us visit the cellars before the tasting also. The wines were excellent, and Sylvie described each one clearly. We were also able to say hello to the owners! Definitely visit this place!

Small and beautiful wine house.
Things I liked:
+ Products - we tasted only a white which was amazing and the reds were great. Even the table wines were great!
+ Insights - they really care about making people understand the process they are using to create wines they talk briefly about how they use the moon & I loved that they have on display samples of different grapes.
+ Cellars- we were able to see their two cellars while waiting for the tasting to begin.
+ Service - super friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Many years ago I purchased several bottles of wine from I believe your vineyard , one bottle in the picture I drank in Isle of Wight with my partner Sally and it was very special. Fantastic experience. Very knowledgeable staff. We tasted four wines- all incredible. Bought a special bottle for ourselves and look forward to coming back one day.
Excellent audio tour with detailed explanation of grapes, terroir and viniculture process.
£9 for this and a Prestige Tasting of 5 (yes, five!) wines is excellent value. Guillaume, our guide, was kind, cheerful, patient and full of detailed explanation.
Well worth a visit, but better book as we head to high season. Santé !🍷

We booked a day tour with À La Française, a tour company, and this was the first stop: the Museum is very educational, the space is well kept and the staff were very accommodating: the free wine tasting was exquisite. Our personal vinter (Noémi) was knowledgeable, polite and spoke perfect English.
Highly recommended stop in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

The museum was well-curated and informative, giving us the perfect foundation for all of what we would see and taste during the rest of our trip. Highly recommend starting your wine country tour here! As an added bonus, Nicolas, who led us through the tasting, was super knowledgeable about not just the tasting wines but also the region, and gave us great tips on where to go. An overall outstanding experience!

We visited this museum yesterday. The museum itself was interesting with an audio tour at a fair price. You could select different package options that included a variety amount of wine tastings. We were helped by Emeline at the entrance and for our wine tastings. She was so extremely knowledgeable about wine and was very kind. Her friendliness and passion made the experience so much better!

Insightful tour of Chateauneuf du Pape region. Answers many questions of why this wine is so unique. Worth the time.
Mike Beuche — Google review
Got there early and avoided all of the queues (seemed busy at the time we left)… Being there at a quieter time was good because I had more of the attention of the sommelier for questions during the tasting.
The museum was interesting and I learned a lot about the process and background of wine making here (as a relative newbie to the wine industry). The shop has a large selection of wine and wine related products to buy.

Very good educational museum on wine production, vineyards, grape varietals, history and families in the Chateauneuf du Pape area. I would go there before going to any of the tours at independent vineyards, you’ll appreciate everything a lot more.

Good museum, we came out understanding the process of making wine a lot better.
Thereafter we had an entertaining and interesting wine tasting with the connaisseur who was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
Sebastian Rieger — Google review
The explanations provided were interesting, and the wine was enjoyable. However, I found the overall experience to be too commercialized. There was no view of the real winemaking process or outdoor components, which was disappointing. If you're seeking a purely wine-tasting experience in a commercial setting, it might suit your preferences. But if you want a more immersive and authentic experience, you may want to explore other options.
Super friendly, interesting selection. We got a cognac from 1946.

Despite our few questions, no more information than that. You have to ask to be able to taste and with the impression of disturbing. Left with more than €120 worth of merchandise, we are very disappointed with the not-warm welcome and the person is just there to collect the goods. We visited this beautiful winery near the southern boundary of the Chateauneuf de Pape region from the recommendations of other Google reviews and we weren’t disappointed. Sebastian provided some great insight into the history of the family winery; the plots and different terroir from which its grapes come; followed by a fabulous tasting of wines. They do the GSM blend so well! I had to take two bottles back to Australia. Highly recommend a visit😀👍

Great visit with Sébastien. He provided such information throughout the tour from vine to bottling process. It shows that they have great passion and pride in what they do. The tasting was awesome. Every wine had its own unique character and was a real pleasure. The white Châteauneuf was especially good. Had a lovely tour and wine tasting experience! Thank you we loved learning more about the wine, vines, wine makers and history of the region. The wines are all so good too!! 🍷🌄
Château Mont-Redon stands out among Rhone wineries for various reasons. It boasts the largest single-estate vineyard in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region, owning over 200 acres of vineyards with some vines dating back to Roman times. All harvesting is carried out by hand, and the winery uses advanced technology such as computer imaging to ensure top-notch quality and flavor during grape sorting in its cellars.
Beautiful peaceful property, with fantastic wine! The establishment was very welcoming, and knowledgeable explaining the different regions and vintages and grapes. Countryside was very lovely. There is a price point for every budget and many choices. They also have a brandy. We bought as much as we thought we could move around with. One last comment, I see other reviews mentions of difficulty with communication. I speak zero French except maybe bonjour, and I had no problems Communicating. Several did speak English there, and those that didn’t were very lovely and I could point to things and hold up fingers to say how many, so if you’re respectful and patient I don’t see any problems. They are very kind and I recommend them highly.

Château La Nerthe is a historic winery in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, with roots dating back to 1570 and a winery established in 1736. Under new ownership in 1986, the estate saw significant improvements in quality and expanded its vineyard holdings to become one of the largest in the region, with 550 acres organically farmed since 1998.

The tours were full on the day we visited, but we had a great walk-in tasting experience with no reservation and tried some very tasty wines. The woman who did our tasting was very helpful and knowledgeable (spoke good English as well so we didn't need to rely too much on our iffy French). Their bottles started at around 18 euros for non-Chateauneuf cuvees (which were still quite good) and then went on to much fancier stuff.

The best wine tasting experience in Châteauneuf du Pape !

I thought I was buying the wine at retail price from the chateau but it turns out it is a tourist trap and the bottle can be found at almost half price on vivino....

This tasting room doesn’t live up to the brands that they’re promoting, the service is very poor and the staff most unfriendly. We entered and were ignored for about 5 minutes and decided to leave. As we are seriously into wine, we returned at 6 (officially they are open until 6:30) and were very impolitely told that there are no more tastings for today. Vinadea is a brilliant alternative for a decent tasting or Gonnet’s shop around the corner.

Nice selection of wine but staff doesn’t really care about the consumer — bought 300$ of wine and asked for 2Eur change for the meter and it was if I was the dumbest customer they had every met. Will never go back

The Castle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, meaning "Castle of the New Pope," was once a summer residence for Popes Clement V and John XXII. Although much of the castle has been destroyed over time, it remains an impressive sight with its historical significance. Visitors can explore what used to be the wine store and admire panoramic views of the village and Rhone Valley from the old windows.
Remnants of the old castle, a photographer's dream. Beautiful views. River rocks all over the ground by the vines absorb the heat from the sun and keep the vines warm at night.

It's a nice piece of castle with views of surrounding vineyards, an ice cream place nearby that was closed when I went. Note it's on top of a hill. Separate walking path and driving path. Parking lot present.

Already could see it from some Kilometers away and was curious to get to there. It was worth hard mounting - pushing - by bicycle.
Nice walk from Main Road in City. And great sightseeing to Rhone Valley in West and surrounding mountains in North and East.

We really enjoyed our visit, the car park near the castle is free and very close. We spent about 45 mins here when exploring at a leisurely pace. Definitely check out the Cave which is just past the restaurant when going down the hill, it's not far to walk back up

Of course everyone comes for the Views, the castle ruins (best air conditioning on a hot day) but apparently they also do have some very famous vineyards that sell a very famous wine. Enjoyed my visit here, would actually go again

If you are visiting this area for the wine, you can definitely make a quick detour to the castle otherwise, what is left of the original building is not much. The view from the top of the hill is very nice and the small village around the castle is quite charming.
Elisa S. — Google review
The ruins of the chateau (14th century) are surely worth a visit because it's still impressive and the views of the surroundings are stunning. There is a parking at the chateau but I would recommend to find a parking spot in the village and walk up to the castle through the very charming village, this way you can enjoy everything Châteauneuf-du-Pape has to offer.
Castle Vaudieu is one of the renowned names owned by Baron Pierre Le Roy, who played a significant role in establishing the appellation of Chateauneuf du Pape. The castle has been producing high-quality wines and has garnered praise for its professional and friendly team. Visitors have enjoyed the warm hospitality and stunning views while tasting excellent red and white wines.

Château Fortia Sarl has a rich history dating back to the aftermath of World War I when Baron Le Roy, a fighter pilot, returned to find his wife's family winery facing wine provenance issues. This led him to work on a proposal for a French wine appellation system that was eventually adopted into law in 1936. Visitors can explore the village and nearby attractions such as Domaine Bois de Boursan and Chocolaterie Castelain.
We had a fantastic experience with Pierre at Chateau Fortia. He was extremely knowledgeable, great fun, and the selection of wine we tried was delicious! The walk that you can do around the grounds is beautiful and a really nice experience to accompany the tasting. Highly recommend!

This domaine offers a unique learning experience. The tasting room is small, so you get personal attention from the staff, and tour the cellars in a small group. We had a wonderful guide named Tatiana who taught us more in one hour than we learned in a week doing wine tours in Provence and Paris.
There is also a self-guided walking tour with signs that explain the history, growing methods, etc.

We had a great visit to Chateau Fortia. The harvest was wine making was underway, so only had a tasting visit, and it was very informative, interesting. Our host, Paul, had a wealth of information about the winery, region and the wines. And the main reason of the visit, the wines were very enjoyable. We enjoyed a selection of wines from the winery for a few other evenings of our trip. We even returned for a follow-up visit when friends came to join us part way through our trip. Very nice winery. Recommend it highly. Thanks!

English tour was OK; a bit lacking in detail and the guide was a little gruff. Make sure that if you want to book one of the supplemental pairings like chocolate or cheese that you do so in advance within checkout options as we didn't see this option and were disappointed. It's not listed on the main site.

A small vineyard in Chateauneuf du Pape with a long tradition (over a century) of fine winemaking. Unlike other nearby wineries, the emphasis is not on robustness but on subtlety, with the right ratio of local grapes and aging in either stainless steel or old (40-60 years) oak barrels. Our tour guide (Paul) was very friendly and knowledgeable and he made the tasting and visit all the more pleasant and enjoyable. I will definitely come back.
Arnaud Devred — Google review
Visited Chateau Fortia as part of our stay in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The visit featured a self guided tour of the property and a tasting that was led by a staff member. The team was really helpful in accommodating our walk in tasting although not having a reservation booked in advance. The staff member leading our tasting was also really well informed in sharing the history of the winery and region and educating our novice group!
Manvir Aujla — Google review
I felt like the leader of the group did not maintain fluid communication with us. Once he didn't take us from the campsite where we stayed overnight to work in the morning, there was no information about his disregard, not to mention ''sorry''. We had to guess many issues related to the work organization. Apart from the case of the leader, we met many friendly, regular winery employees here, with respect for another foreign workers. They did not have any definite guesses about the end of the harvest so we were at loose end - the advantage was that the winery has provided us an accommodation after the whole work was done - so we could stay free.
I wish there would be more involvement in training for coordinators and also care for the foreign employees.

Domaine du Pegau winery utilizes a traditional method of wine-making whereby grapes are hand-harvested and fermented without being de-stemmed. This process, combined with the estate's centuries-old vines and smaller yields, allows them to carefully select the best grapes resulting in highly sought-after, top-quality wines.
The tour is 5 stars. Great to understand the history, wine making, cellar and vineyard of Pegau. The tour guide has done a great work.
One note to the owner: please don’t let the young kids join the tour. It was terrible to have 3 kids in the cellar or the tasting room. It was so noisy. And the mother was even more noisy than the kids when she tried to get attention from the kids.

Each person can taste 5 kinds of wine. Red wine, white wine, and pink wine are provided on site for tasting, but one wine glass is used from beginning to end. When trying 5 kinds of wine, the cup is not changed. You can only rinse your mouth with water to remove the taste of the previous glass of wine. , the aftertaste left before and after each wine cannot drink the purity of a wine at all! This is something that makes us feel uncomfortable.
The reception staff of the winery will first explain the origin, soil, growth process, harvesting and homemade wine process of grape cultivation to the people on site.
After that, we started to let everyone taste 5 kinds of wines. Everyone has a wine menu, which can be compared and referenced during introduction and tasting.
Angel's drinking capacity is quite bad😅 She was already half drunk just by smelling it🥹 She tried drinking until she couldn't finish the third glass of wine, so she had to ask the staff to pour less wine. After drinking 5 kinds of wine together, she started to get tipsy.
The receptionist at the winery finally took everyone to the basement to visit the wine cellar. Walking already felt a bit frivolous, and the cellar was dark, so I didn’t even know what I was taking photos🤣Haha⋯
After visiting the wine cellar, everyone is allowed to buy wine to take home. Buy a few bottles of red, white and pink wine to make a box (the amount of wine carried by each person when entering the country is limited to 5 liters). Since this winery does not have a consignment service, we have to We took it away by ourselves, and there was no anti-shattering bubble wrap in the carton. In the end, we took apart the carton, wrapped it in clothes and put it in each person's checked luggage.
Fortunately, when I returned to Taiwan and unpacked my luggage, every bottle of wine was intact and safe🥰

We visited Clos du Mont-Olivet winery during our tour of the southern Rhone region, specifically in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The winery is located in the nearby wine village of Vacqueyras and is known for its exceptional wines and the famous Chateauneuf galet stones. Although initially closed when we arrived, we decided to call the number on the sign and were pleasantly surprised when David answered and promptly opened the shop for a tasting.
This tasting was certainly a highlight of our trip to the region. We were recommended to stop by, and popped in last minute. We learned so much, and Chloe, our guide, was so knowledgeable and kind, it felt more like a tasting with an extremely well informed friend. Great wines. Would not miss.

Don't worry - go straight there as there is a parking area at the cellar door. Beautiful wine - had to buy a bottle to take home.

We were driving around the area looking for somewhere nice to stop and have a drink/food. Came across this hotel and the waiter told us, very rudely, that he couldn’t serve us anything, stating that the kitchen had closed - even though it was only 13:15 and the restaurant closed at 14:00. We would have been happy to just have a glass of wine but instead he insisted we leave. Not sure if this was because we spoke English? I’m hoping not. Anyways very disappointed as the view and place was very nice, but would not recommend to anyone. Would give 0 stars if I could.
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Famille Quiot estate and tasting room. It was a delightful experience, just as I had anticipated as a devoted follower of their wines. Jean-Louis, in particular, was incredibly accommodating and kind despite my late arrival near closing time. I sampled various wines and acquired a bottle that is not readily available in Canada. The entire visit was truly exceptional, and I am definitely planning to return in the future.
We were 4 people doing the full tour + tasting. Lovely visit and lovely wine. Our guide Nolwenn was very knowledgeable and friendly. She made our visit a super nice experience in everything from the Jeep tour to the tasting. Really recommend :)

I recently had a chance to visit the Famille Quiot estate and tasting room. It was lovely and everything I'd hoped for as a long-time fan of their wines. Jean-Louis was especially helpful and so kind considering I'd arrived late in the day near closing. We tasted a number of wines and I walked away with a bottle I'd never get in Canada. Such a great visit. I'll certainly be back!

Jean-Louis took a whole hour to walk us through all their amazing wines. We had so much fun, merci beaucoup!

Sehr leckerer Wein, freundlicher Empfang und wir durften unseren Hund sogar mit zur Weinprobe rein nehmen. Die Preise sind hier wesentlich günstiger als würden wir den gleichen Wein in Deutschland kaufen.

Very tasty wine, friendly welcome and we were even allowed to take our dog with us to the wine tasting. The prices here are much cheaper than if we were to buy the same wine in Germany.

Very bad service, it seems they just want to take in big tourist groups.

(Translated by Google) Very nice discovery of this establishment steeped in history by Nolwenn, a passionate and fascinating guide. A big thank you to her for this very informative and educational tour behind the scenes of wine production as well as for the refined tasting of wines from the different estates of the Quiot family!
I therefore highly recommend it, whether you are a neophyte (like me!) or a connoisseur.
