The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool is an attractive quayside destination that offers visitors a glimpse into Nelson's time with a costumed guide and a 1817 warship. The museum provides numerous educational side attractions, making it an underrated day out for families. One can explore the oldest real warship in Europe, imagine battles and confined spaces while engaging with interactive exhibits.
What a fabulous day out, please find the time to go, it's amazing and such good value for the entrance fee paid.
Transported back 200 years when you walk through the doors onto the dockside with the magnificent HMS Trincomalee taking centre stage surrounded by individual authentic architectural shops of the period where you can walk in and be informed of the past.
A tour of the ship is a must, to think it was manned by 240 people, to see the hardships of daily life they endured when they set out to sea.
Well stocked warm cafe, toilet facilities and wheelchair friendly.
Also there's a museum of informative visual and tactile educational displays of the local area which children will really love.
There's such a lot to see, believe me it's worth going, we're so lucky to have this on our doorstep.
(To add, our tour guide, dressed in period costume on the ship was fantastic, such a pleasant patient man, he answered so many of our questions -thank you so much)
Allow a good few hours to get round it all, so much to see !

This is a must for our family when we visit the U.K.!
The Historic Quay is a wonderful attraction to visit. We always have a lovely time. The one small blip on this visit was the entire system that runs their system wouldn't allow for cash transactions! Weird right? But that's what happened π€·π½ββοΈ. Anyway, this was the first time my 10-year-old visited Hartlepool, and he loved it! For my teenager, it was his 3rd time visiting, and he still enjoyed himself. They had a Horrible Histories exhibit which was such fun with all the activities! The history of the tall ship and everything else is always worth reading up on, we learn something new every time we visit. For me, it brings such lovely memories. The actors that reenact a cannon fire are great! We stopped to have a coffee and dessert, the kids loved the iced cream! You can get sandwiches and other yummy treats! We found games we cannot find at home (π¨π¦), and so many reference books, but we didn't have room to bring them all back! A wooden sword however still has pride of place in our lounge, one of the kids fave toys. And the tall ship is 100% the best attraction of them all. So much to see and understand about how life was on a tall ship. There's so much to see, so much to read and explore. You will not be disappointed!

It was ok to spend an hour or so. Slightly disappointed as some of the display cases lighting wasn't working.
The little shops/different trades were good but would benefit from more information being put in each section where people were shown working to explain who they were and what they did as it seemed there was one general information part but this could be made more interactive.

What a great day out this is, big ol' boat, tones of history to read up on. The boat is excellent but watch your head. And the buildings round the outside give you a feel for the docks, with some very life-like mannequins on display. There's a cafe kids play area and playground. Really enjoyed it, ticket valid for 12 months so you can come back and use it again ππ

Lots to see and do here for all ages. Really enjoyed going on board the Trincomalee. Plenty of information boards to explain what you are seeing. Some hands on items were a bit worn. There is a Horrible Histories exhibition for younger family members and plenty of outdoor activities to take part in. Nice shop, good cafe and lots of toilet facilities. Would recommend for a nice half day trip.

It was a bright and breezy day in Hartlepool. We entered lots of buildings on site, learned about how ships navigated their way in the oceans, the supplies that were required on voyages, how the sailors dressed and equipment used. The displays, staff and the friendly pirate who answered our questions, were all amazing. Loved the visit and would definitely go again.

Very, very underrated day out! Great staff and lots to do! When you get in, you can't help but stare at the majestic oldest real warship in Europe, and it just gets better as you can go in and look. You can imagine the battles and the confined spaces as you explore, and plenty of side attractions educating you all the way along. And I haven't even mentioned the museum! Unlimited use for 12 months is like the icing on the cake!

Visited during the Tall Ships weekend and saw an amazing display of ships and small boats as well as music, entertainment, stalls and a temporary beach which the children loved! We ate a picnic along the canal and visited the Maritime Museum which was a great opportunity for the children to dress up and get a feel for the area's history. To top it off the museum has a large ship which you can board for a fee (we chose not to) and an adventure playground that we couldn't tear the kids away from. Lots of walking so wear flat shoes π

Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised and engaged by the exhibits and the ship itself. Really enjoyed the weapon demonstration, as well as the 'Fighting Ships' exhibit. Very informative. There is also a small kids playground on site. You can spend a good 2-3 hours here. Would certainly return.

This is an excellent little museum well worth the visit. We enjoyed wandering around the exhibits and listening to the commentary in each of the houses around the dock. It provided an excellent insight into the life at sea in the early 1800βs.
The ship was interesting to explore as well and itβs history was well documented and easy to follow. We also enjoyed the demonstrations of firing a musket and a small cannon.
The tea room is also worth a visit their scones were excellent.

The National Museum of the Royal Navy is an incredible recreation of the past. You can climb aboard a real warship, the HMS Trincomalee, and feel like a pirate setting sail. The recreated 18th-century port is really immersive, and the cannon demonstrations are a guaranteed crowd pleaser. This place is perfect for families with kids. Theres a play ship, and there's so much other cool stuff to see that they won't get bored. Plus, it's way less crowded than your average museum. This could be the best thing in Hartlepool.

The kids had a fantastic time at Tweddle Farm today, enjoying their second visit and looking forward to more in the future. This amazing amusement center offers a variety of amenities such as ample parking, toilets, food options, and a gift shop. The farm boasts an impressive array of animals including farm animals, birds, and rabbits. Additionally, there are several well-designed play areas for children to explore and enjoy. The barrel ride and tractor ride add even more excitement to the experience.
Stopping locally and decided to follow the signs to this farm... oh my! I've never been so pleasantly surprised by a farm for the experience and for the kids. This farm offers so many unique things to do and see it's amazing! So worth the money and the way it's geared up for the kids at any age is out of this world! The farm need to get their name out alot more being off the main road it's easy to miss but each person driving by is really missing out. Well done to everyone at the farm!

The animals all looked healthy and happy with enough living space. The only exception was the cockatoos whose cage looked small and they looked frustrated. There is a lot of parking space but being easter weekend it got busy quickly. We bought 4 bags of food but it's not enough and the black sheep appeared very disappointed with us.

This is the second year we've been to see Santa here as last year the children loved it and wanted to come back. Great experience at a very good price. It is really good the children get to pick a present from a selection rather than just being given a selection box like a lot of places. The farm looked very pretty with the snow and the grotto was magical! Only negatives I would say is I booked for a set time so arrived a little early to allow to look around. We then got given a time half an hour after that. Given it was -1Β°c we didn't want an extra 30 minutes in the cold. Some heaters in the play barn would have been helpful and I felt sorry for the staff in there as I swear it was colder inside than out. My daughter was crying from being so cold. A very kind elf came and asked if she was OK and offered her a blanket.

Lots of play areas and animals but the place really really needs a refurb. Loads of broken animal ornaments out the front that need to go in the bin. Most of the place looks like it last had a lock off paint in the 60s, especially the play areas.
The coffees were really overpriced. Instant coffee, advertised as lattes and cappuccinos. Powdered milk all lumpy. The packets of salt for the chips were wet inside. Chips were refried. If you go, I'd recommend bringing lunch from home or eating before you go.
The tractor ride was fun and the tractor carts. Lovely to see and hold the lambs.
Really nice place but could be improved easily. I will definitely go again.

A great day out for the kids. Really well priced for all the things you are able to do and see on the farm. You can see sheep, goats, cows, llamas, birds, rabbits, pigs and loads more. You can feed most of them and get up close to all of them.
Included in the entry price you can have a tractor ride, smaller barrel ride, go on the indoor and outdoor play parks, play mini-golf, play foot-golf, play foot pool, go on the mini pedal go karts and go in the building area. During the Easter holidays they also had a fair on (had to pay for the rides here but very reasonable) and some other related activities. For the entry price this is brilliant value.
There are different activities on throughout the day such as feeding animals and petting them.
The food at the cafe is reasonably price and nothing to write home about but there is a good variety and isn't as expensive as some places you go to.
There are loads of indoor and outdoor play areas are great. Lots so they don't get too busy. Much better value than most of the indoor play areas around.
Best on a day with good weather, we thought we'd spend an hour, maybe 2 with our 18 month year old that has a short attention span;however, he was entertained for a whole 4 hours before we left as he was simply knackered off all the fresh air and excitement.
Throughly recommend.

Visited today with my 3 year old. Deliberately picked a day during term so it was less busy than perhaps what it would be during the holidays.
I called before we went to ensure the site was open. Entrance fee was very reasonable considering how much there is to do once inside!!
My little one absolutely loved the play area and seemed completely uninterested in the animals (which was the point of our visit), and he had great fun on the outdoor bouncy castle/Park and the go karts!!
We were given a little itinerary on entrance should we have wanted to enjoy time with some animals, or ride on the tractors!
There was plenty of benches and spaces to eat plus easily sign posted toilets (which were very clean!).
Thoroughly enjoyed our morning here and could easily have stayed for the full day. Will definitely return.

I went after a few days of heavy rain.
I expected the site to be waterlogged and mega muddy but it wasn't...
It was wet and grassy areas looked quite muddy but the paths had been carefully planned, maintained and had drainage... Brilliant!
There were two maps on signs near the entrance. I should have taken a photo so I could see all the different paths.
There were some paths in different places, some went over styles and through wooded areas.
There was a main path which was firm not sure what... Compressed stones perhaps?
it was easy to walk on and push a pram along.
There was:
a BMX area
A smaller children's bike riding area
A bird feeding/ watching area
The cafe
A play area
Wooded area
Pond area with a little wooden viewing platform
I'm sure there was more I didn't even get to see.
Parking was very busy when I went but it was free to park.

This is a lovely beach but the lack of poo bins mean people dump the bags. The solution is a carrier bag at each entrance to The beach. If you go, please take your rubbish to the bins in the car park and keep this gorgeous beach gorgeous x updated.... back there and there is a bag at each entrance for rubbish and poo bags. Well done to whoever did this. Update..... bags working well, visitors collecting plastic and leaving at these points. Great community spirit. Litter pick by the road overflow next job to tackle. Still a lovely beach. If you go, take a carrier and fill it with the plastic the tide brings in. Do your bit.

Hartlepool Art Gallery is a restored Victorian church that has been open since 1996, featuring an exhibition of art pieces. Additionally, it includes a viewing tower for visitors to have a panoramic view of the surroundings. The place has kept its charm and warmth intact despite being old. It's free to book events at the gallery; one recent event was Simon Bartram reading his book "The Man on the Moon" to children who then drew their own aliens.
Amazing free gallery, the space inside is much bigger than expected, even a cafe inside too. Itβs got some great features of the church still visible, like the windows and statues. Seems all of the artwork is for sale which is wonderful.

The Middleton Grange Shopping Centre in Hartlepool offers a range of shopping facilities, including retail parks at Hartlepool Marina. Despite the lunchtime crowds, the malls were clean and well-lit. However, the area around Wilko's appeared neglected with few shops and a lack of lighting. The queue system at McDonald's caused confusion for shoppers as it was disorganized and located in the middle of the mall.
When I walked through the shopping centre it was very quiet in the shops, but very busy at the food outlets. I really enjoyed it as it meant that there was no queues in the shops I visited and got served straight away. This was at 10am

There are lots of empty plots where shops used to be thriving. Has a dirty feel to it once inside. Car park is awful, and what's worse is the local council charges you to park, and the minimum is a pound - which is scandalous. The car park is also dirty and smells.
EDIT
HBC - Charging disabled people to park is an absolute disgrace. As photographed, HBC will now charge for disabled parking.
Claire β Google review
It's a shopping centre. Like most centres these days there are a fair number of empty units and there is a reasonable selection of the major retailers.
The centre itself is indoors, generally clean, warm and well lit. It covers two floors with lifts, escalators and stairs to move between the levels.
Andrew Brown β Google review
Visited with my 2 children ages 4 and 8. It wasn't too busy even though it was over lunchtime. The malls were fairly clean and bright. The only sad part of the centre was where Wilko's is. It's quite dark and seems forgotten about as there is only a few shops there. We went to McDonald's for lunch. The queue is a little bit all over the place as there is no designated area for the ordering and waiting. It seems like a free for all and in the middle of the mall, which caused a bit of chaos for the other shoppers. Apart from that we found everything we went for.

Lots of great shops, Primark, Bon Marche, b&m Wilko, loads of charity shops along with plenty of places to eat like Greggsand Mc Donalds. The parking used to be free but there is a small charge now of Β£1 quite often the machines aren't working so it is still free. There is an upstairs with a massive Iceland and lots of really cheap shops, it's well worth a visit.

Very minimal shops.
Inside is clean. There's a Primark although if you're not a size 4 or a 6 there's little choice.
River island has wonderful staff, and is a very tidy store.
Pandora is pristine.
McDonald's queue makes it a bit difficult as people refuse to let you past.

Not a bad and lively centre with decent parking. However there should be more tabled seating areas in the open area other than McDonald's taking it all because families who want something else to eat but sit down have no choice but to use those McDonald's seats and then get told by staff in a not very friendly manner that they can't eat other food there. Well, tired children want to sit down so tough. Should be more general seating. I'm sure Maccy's will survive.
Overall good experience.

OK to shop around for a few bits. The B&M, Sports Direct, and Greggs/McDonalds for quick food. The indoor market is good for fresh fruit, veg, and meat. Not many bigger shops anymore as they keep opening and closing.

Pleasantly surprised at how many shops are here and all under cover. Ample parking spaces and no ridiculous charges unlike other places, car park lifts take you straight into the centre. Tidy, clean, spacious, wide array of shops, coffee shops, places to get snacks/lunch. Didn't manage to cover all the shops at this visit as I didn't expect much to be honest but I have to say....its got more to offer for shopping facilities under one roof than Middlesbrough or Stockton. Will give it another go most definitely.

The Middleton Grange is a boring shopping centre because all it has is some grocery stores, three or four charity shops and five other shops. Most of this shopping centre is practically dead. This shopping centre might or might not get replaced by something that is modern but I don't know if that will benefit any of the residents of this town in terms of shopping. Houses might be get built as a part of the new plans for the replacement of this shopping centre but having houses in an environment were there is a lot of traffic and noise will open a branch of possible conflicts. If you are thinking of going to the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, please look in both of the nearby retails parks that are near the shopping centre and I recommend you to wait to see when and what the finish plans are. The new plans might hold some more shops.

Itβs a shopping mall located in Hartlepool which is somehow similar to Eldon square in Newcastle
Some of the businesses located in it includes telecommunications outfit like 3, clothing stores like Primark, charity stores like Alice, fast food outfits etc
I particularly liked the fact that the shopping centre leads to different streets in Hartlepool which means entering from Victoria road into the mall can also lead to other streets different from Victoria road
I particularly love the serene atmosphere of the Centre that gives it a welcoming look to first timers

Bit of a miserable place to visit with bog standard chain shops you could find on any other street in the UK. Also lots of empty shop units add to the drab feel. It's largely clean and tidy which is nice. There is a very nice charity art shop near the old Post office/ wilko which is worth a look but other than that it's not really worth going for a day out or a nice day off shopping. The brutalist architecture does sometimes make you feel depressed especially on a grey day.

Tired. Too many vacant units. Market hall an abandoned space, not what it was. Hopefully new site owners will generaly inject some variety and life back into it.
Sanderson's Furniture & Auction is a highly recommended store that provides excellent moving services. Located in Highland Perthshire, they offer efficient and friendly assistance when relocating from Sunderland to their new location. Their team of helpful individuals ensures that all items, including a hot tub transferred from Hartlepool to Perthshire, are transported without any damage. With competitive prices and prompt communication, Sanderson's stands out among other companies.
Great range of items for sale and they were getting ready for auction sone great bargains well worth a look call and see when next sale Auction is on

Loved it , first time at an auction and I bought 7 lots to upcycle and only spent 12.70. Only thing missing is a bacon bun and a drink , had to take my own, and parking difficult had to park away from auction and walk over, staff were really good with any queries I had and helping me load my car , definitely going again.

I can't recommend these guys highly enough. They moved us from Sunderland to highland Perthshire in January and then moved our hot tub from Hartlepool to Perthshire in July. Anne, at the office is helpful, friendly and always kept us posted. The guys that moved us were also helpful, friendly and efficient and got our things moved without any furniture casualties. The price was very competitive and they were one of the only companies to actually get back to us. Cheers folks!

I love this place and more importantly the people. The auction is great, store is great and the staff are just super friendly. This is how a business should be. Thank you

I guess the auction is only as good as the stuff that's in it and perhaps that's not the fault if the auction house, however, at the viewing I attended recently I thought the products up for auction were really poor. I have in the past had good purchases from here and that's why it received a 3 star rating and not less.

Normally an excellent place to get good furniture for a cheap price. There's the usual bric a brac, but they often have some highly collectible items as well.
