Piran's Old Town boasts a well-preserved fortified stone wall with multiple gates, renovated since the 7th century. The impressive Venetian architecture resembles Italy's famous destinations like Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik. For an entry fee of 2 (1.50 for students) in Sept 2021, visitors can climb up the city walls to enjoy a stunning view over the town and out towards the sea.
For only a few euros, you can walk along the top of the walls and soak in the breathtaking views of the sea and coastline. The walls wrap around the charming town of Piran, so you get a glimpse into the lives of locals and a sense of the town's architecture and layout.
If you're looking for an inexpensive but memorable activity in Piran, the Walls of Piran should be at the top of your list. The views are unbeatable, the history is fascinating, and the admission charge is a steal. Walking along these well-preserved walls is like taking a step back in time, with panoramas that will stay with you long after your visit. Highly recommended!

Good place for beautiful views of Piran. A little steep walk up to the walls and narrow steep staircase up to towers. But nothing that a relatively fit person cannot do.

These walls are awesome for the views and historical perspective. It can be a challenge to climb to the top towers but the views are worth it. You have access to the whole wall. Parking is across the street.

Fantastic Piran-oramic views of the old town & the Adriatic sea. You can climb some of the towers to soak in best views. Seems like only a portion of the wall has been maintained for visitors, so your visit probably won't take more than 45 min...an hour tops. Only 3 Euro...I paid a lot more in Croatia!

A rather long part of the old city wall gives a perfect view over Piran and the Adriatic Sea. Though the prices for only being able to walk the walls and climb the towers were a little high, the view was worth it after all.

Good place to take a nice view to the Piran old town. The citadel walls in good condition and you can walk to them and to some towers. Find the right place to get a parking spot,it's not easy, but in another way you get the fine for €40(((

What a cool spot to start your day in Piran! Not a huge castle, but the views and photo ops are great.
If you have kids, they will have fun going up and down the narrow steps. Just watch out for other tourists trying to fit through - there isn’t much room here to navigate.
Highly recommended. Don’t forget your camera.

You need to have a card to show you are disabled. Crutches don't cut it. Very steep, and if you are physically disabled I think it unlikely that you will be able to do the tower steps. €3 entry
Tartini Central Square, a lovely oval-shaped marble-paved square located in Portoroz, Slovenia was once the inner harbor until it was filled in 1894. The center of this bustling square is home to a monument of composer and violinist Giuseppe Tartini, a native son born in the year 1692. The Church of St.
It has an undistinguished look and unique soul this city of Piran. It is something about it which drives me back all the time. Every time I am finding a tiny piece of unseen, mislooked...all in all a must place to visit and explore.

Lovely little town on this peninsula. I love the views from the old Castle walls over the orange clay tile roofs. The walk along the waterfront is lovely and to see the boats. They need more parking for motorhomes. The narrow cobbled streets are OK but need cleaning. Highly recommend lovely seaside town.

My favourite place in whole Slovenia probably. The most beautiful daytime is at night. Children playing a bit football there but the crowds are gone. During daylight there are many tourists and it’s quite sunny. But you can sit down in one of the many cafés and have a cappuccino or something.

This little village was such a wonderful surprise! We were staying in Portoroz for a conference and by chance took the free shuttle bus into the village. We then walked everywhere as you cannot drive there. It was so worth it! So beautiful from every angle. Everyone speaks some English too, which was very helpful. But, If you only speak English, be patient and remember they all speak about 4 other languages and we only speak one, so we are the uneducated ones in their space. Delicious Gelato everywhere too!

Piran is one of the most iconic cities in Slovenia.
**Piran**:
Piran is a picturesque town located on the Adriatic coast of Slovenia. It's known for its medieval architecture, narrow streets, and a rich history that dates back to the Roman era. The town boasts a preserved city wall, Venetian Gothic architecture, and beautiful sea views. Piran has a unique charm and is a favorite destination for both tourists and locals.
**Tartini Square (Tartinijev trg)**:
Tartini Square is the main square in Piran and is named after the famous violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, who was born in the town. In the center of the square stands a statue of Tartini, and surrounding the square are several significant historical buildings, including the Town Hall and the Church of St. George. Tartini Square is a hub of activity in Piran, hosting various events, festivals, and gatherings throughout the year.

St. George's Parish Church is a historical cathedral situated on the waterfront, boasting a clock tower and incredible panoramic views from the top. Constructed in baroque style during the early 17th century, it replaced an older church dating back to 1344. Visitors can view some of the lavishly adorned interior through a metal grille while full access is granted via the Parish Museum of St George, which also features catacombs and treasury items.
It was only a few euros to go up and see the whole Piran from this tower. It is definitely worth to take this bit of a hike on the wooden stairs. The view from here is magnificent. While you are walking on the wooden stairs, there are angel names engraved in the wood in Latin, Hebrew and Old Greek languages. I recommend going up during sunset. You won’t be disappointed!
Lilla Kert?sz — Google review
The church is located above Tartini square, and from here you have a wonderful view of the city and the sea. At the top of the bell tower is Michael the Archangel, turning in the wind and predicting the weather. If it faces the open sea, good weather is expected, when it faces Trieste, the weather will worses.

Piran is a resort city on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast, known for its long pier and Venetian architecture. Tartini Square is flanked by the Gothic red Venetian House and the frescoed Tartini House. The latter is the birthplace of violinist Giuseppe Tartini. The 19th-century town hall has a stone lion, a symbol of the former Republic of Venice. St. George’s Cathedral, nearby, has 17th-century paintings and marble altars.

It's definitely worth it to buy a "combo" ticket of the church and the bell tower. It's only additional 1,5 euro but you get to see the inside of the church way closer than just watching from behind the cage. On top of that, the church houses a museum of the belltower and itself. Containing holy artefacts as well as archeological site. 100% reccomend!

It's been renovated since my last visit, but it still needs more investment. It's relatively small and what was my main issue, was that the description tags were not lit, so it was hard/impossible to read what's on it in a dark room with illuminated aquaries.

It's a small, two-chamber museum so it's really not rich in a variety of items, but it's their uniqueness that sets the museum apart. In the main square of the city (Piazza Tartini) stands this palace with a decidedly Venetian Gothic appearance and which dates back to the 15th century.
Curiosity of the facade is the stone lion which in its jaws holds a ribbon with the writing "Lasa pur dir" which, it is said, is due to the fact that a rich Venetian merchant fell in love with a local girl, who however was exposed to various gossip.
At this point her lover, to silence evil tongues, had her build the palace with the warning "Lasa pur dir"... "Let them speak"...

(Translated by Google) Much remodeled over time, it is an octagonal building covered externally in white plaster, which stands out well against the blue background of the sea, in an elevated position behind the cathedral. Once upon a time, the interior was entirely frescoed and some traces of later frescoes are still preserved on the walls, while the ceiling has been completely lost. The baptismal font in the center is beautiful.

Beautiful, not so small baptismal chapel right next to the church tower.

Ist schon eine Zeit lang her.
Schöne, gar nicht so kleine Taufkapelle gleich neben dem Kirchturm.
We dined in Piran at a wonderful restaurant called Stara Gostilna and they presented their first course on a wonderful ceramic dish. As we strolled around Piran, a lovely shop called Atelje Duka caught my eye. As we spoke to Duka, the shop owner, we learned that this very shop provided them with these pieces. Duka guided us through her shop with grace and patience. We found a few treasures, and feel in love with her creations. If you ever come to Piran, be sure to stop by her lovely shop and support this skilled artisanand merchant.
