This was a great experience - a guide took us down the river and we saw monkeys, snakes and kingfishers. The guides were lovely and the boats comfortable (and no risk of falling in unless you jump in on purpose)

Loved this trip. My canoe guide Gathai was brilliant and so funny. We saw monitor lizard, mangrove snake, dancing bird. Then we saw the local rangers catching a king cobra!

Professionally run by locals. The rower also acts as a guide. He gives explanation about the flora and fauna found along the canal. On the ride I saw some monkeys and there were some snakes resting high up on tree branches - fortunately they didn't decide to drop down on me when the canoe passed below them. The tour lasts about 1 hour. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Highly recommend this place! The very knowledgeable local tour guide paddles us on a canoe through the banyan forest. It was really peaceful and educational. We saw a group of monkeys, bee hives, a bunch of sleeping snakes and a few birds. If you're into photo shoots, the tour guide was really accommodating. Overall, it is much much better than zoos!
There's another service provider right next to this one. The difference between the two is this one is man-paddled while the other one is motor-powered. We're glad we chose this provider because it's a completely different level of peace! You can hear the forest much better :) I don't know if there's a difference in price.

At first we saw their price was 500baht per boat for kayak, and 700baht for motor boat. It was from a Thailand tourism website, but they denied. They asked for 800baht for kayak, and 1200baht for motor boat. I think after we came they changed the details of the website and the Thailand tourism website were removed from the google map. We were on with the price but just feels that we were being cheated. And the couple that talked to us were very rude. Even with no wildlife to see in the afternoon, there’s just a bunch of trees and to experience the boat trip. We managed to see 3 snakes sleeping on the branches.
The reason I gave only 2 stars, it’s because of the feeling of being scammed and the rudeness of the couple.
Recommend: maybe. In the morning. Don’t come in the afternoon, it has nothing to see.

There are several companies that operate the tour. We choose one with highest rating on Google. One canoe fit 3 people, two guests and one guide. Our guide was really informative and helpful at pointing out all kinds of creatures in the lake as well as help with taking pictures for us. Definitely a not to miss if you are in the area. However it can get quite touristy during the peak season.

We learned a lot about the nature - trees and wildlife with this tour. Saw birds and snakes etc. There were many tourists concentrated on taking selfies - we were more interested in nature so our guide told us lots more with translator. We were on the boat 75 minutes and collected some plastic rubbish during the trip. I don't understand tourists who throw plastic bottles in to the nature they are visiting...
I wish it would be easier to find information online about the best time of the day to do this, pricing and reservations.
Price for us was 700 baht for 2 persons, only cash. We were there early afternoon. We were with red flag team.

This place gives the illusion of being in the real Amazon.
The boat is staff operated all time and offers an exciting time.
You can have a great time just by being on the boat.
You can meet a lot of natural snakes and lizards.
The staff is kind and will take pictures and choose beautiful places for us.
It's a place you should definitely visit!

Paddling through Little Amazon felt like entering a fairytale. The yellow-flagged tour company made sure we felt welcome every step of the way. Thanks

Must Visit If You’re Near Khao Lak!
A lovely, safe trip on the canoe. One canoe comfortably seats just about 2 people apart from the guide. We saw so many birds, monkeys, and other animals. I wish we got as lucky as some people that left reviews of getting to see snakes! Maybe another time!

Very nice and safe trip on a canoe. Just watch and enjoy the trip. If you're lucky you'll find snakes in the trees. In our case a green python and also a black/yellow one. It is safe because during the day they sleep. Very beautifull nature and helpfull local people help you on and off the boot.
Take Me to Takuapa.
A short drive away from Khao Lak, Takuapa is a mesmerizing stop to any off-island adventures in Phuket, bringing one to the south’s illustrious history and unadulterated creative beats. Filled with repurposed and conserved heritage row houses that still bear the story of the town’s wealthy trading and tin mining past, the town also features some of the best street art and large scale murals in the south.
The Sunday walking street market, albeit more intimate in size than the one in Phuket Old Town, is more geared towards the local population, retaining its authentic and grassroots dynamics.

Great choice of local Thai food at very good price. Best of all you buy it at Thai serving size, means small portions (from 3 baht for sweet bite) or pieces (like local sushi 10 baht a piece), allowing to try and taste a lot of things. Skip your lunch to get there hungry! Enjoy :-)
Most of stalls are food, juices, soft drinks, desserts and fruits. Very few with other merchandise.

It’s about 30min drive from Khao Lak centre and we’ll worth the drive in. This is a local market where everyone converge and picks up dinner and the price is also reflected. Best pricing I’ve seen in any market. This is about a 2 block street markets with a few store fronts also opened. You do not need to know Thai to navigate through this market. See what you like and point or finger gestures for the #you want. May I recommend the Thai coconut pancake (purple picture) that has a chewy mocha consistency and loaded with coconut meat. You can’t beat the 30 baht fresh coconut juice craved and served ready to go for you.
Cost about 1600 baht round trip to get here.
Lots of pretty graffiti on the walls for photo opportunities as well.

Local Food Market
Must do
We enjoy it. Many different local food specialities. Many local peoples are there. Visit the market after 6 pm before it is very hot and the sun burns down.

Local food market, mostly visited by tourists. Food is good, prices are decent but for 500 meter long market in one street, maybe a bit overrated. Visit the temple nearby

The market is a unique cultural experience. Drawing guests from as far away as Phuket this market is a unique experience and a “must do” for anyone in the area. Only on Sundays this outing is a complete treat for the senses especially your taste buds. Different foods, all delicious and seemingly everywhere it is truly an opportunity to connect with amazing culinary delights presented under the guise of street food. Music and bustling streets packed with coffee shops, Chinese tea houses, assorted clothing items and amazing foods.
This market is different...a lot different than traditional markets tourists throng to in the Resort towns. It is a fantastic way to enjoy an afternoon and embrace real Thailand.
If you would love to just find a little spot to enjoy a beer and watch the people go by there is only 1 that I know of...(and I looked!) This place is located almost at the end of the market. Follow the street down until you are getting near the last vendors and look off to your right. You will see a store that has tables set up and the veranda and is usually busy with foreigners enjoying a few beers. This is one of the only places where you can buy beer on Culture Street and relax for a while. :)
This market may be one of the major draws for Takuapa Old Town however there is much more to see do, enjoy and experience in this town. Beautiful temples and cultural attractions around every corner of you take the time to explore (or take a tour on one of the many Old Town Tours offered on arrival.)
Oh and PS... music and traditional entertainment is everywhere.
