The Okama crater lake is a stunning attraction located on the summit of an active volcano. Accessible by road, hiking trail, or ski lift, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of nearby mountains and natural surroundings. It is recommended to visit on a sunny day and climb the trail to reach the top. A restaurant serving delicious foods like sausages, nikumaki, and edamame ice cream is also available on site.
Unforgettable experience! 😍

I’ve skied at Zao several times, but this was my first summer visit. I have always wanted to hike and see Okama, and I would recommend this spot if you can. We drove up in a personal vehicle, but there are hiking trails and a chair lift a bit below the uppermost parking lot if you’re not driving. We also saw some cyclists biking up! There are many great hikes around, and of course, you can see the famous snow monsters without their snow!

It's not often you can get views like these, especially of two prefectures at once. It takes a while to get up here, but I think it's worth the effort. The crater itself is so cool; we saw it still half frozen over during Golden Week. You can walk up pretty close to it, but if you come when there's still snow make sure you're dressed for it.
The shrine at the top is neat as well, and the gift shop has lots of cute stuff. Unfortunately, we didn't notice the shop closed around 3:45pm and missed our chance to go back in to grab souvenirs. If you come later in the day, make sure to stop in first, as the crater isn't going anywhere. If you come by car, be careful to leave before the gate closes, I believe at 5pm.

It's a great place to visit. Emerald lake in volcano crater looks so magic.Amazing view from top of mountain. But Weather may be really unpredictable. So be aware about it and ready for any case. There are many ways to reach the place:by car, by free shuttle, by rope way or hiking. Parking place usually gets full very quickly,it's better to come before 10am. Hiking courses to the Okama crater are very good for any age and conditions. Never have try so enjoyable course.

One of the most beautiful crater in japan ... I went there on my birthday. Although the weather was cloudy, and it was my wish to see the crater even if it’s for a moment. And behold! My wish was granted ... I feel so lucky that sun shone so bright for a moment and I could get the glimpse of this beautiful crater and clicked several pics ...
later, it rained heavily there though. But it proved to be such a beautiful day. I will go again and again.
Zao Echo Line is a well-known road that boasts of stunning scenery such as snow-covered landscapes, vibrant autumn colors, and scenic waterfalls. The road spans about 17 miles long and winds up to the sacred Caldera Lake, Okama. To reach this serene lake, visitors must navigate through a labyrinth of hairpin turns within a forest before ascending to Zao himself. The surrounding foliage in autumn is breathtakingly beautiful and provides a refreshing escape from the daily grind.
12 Apr 2024: Enjoyed Zao Echo Line Snow Wall walk. It is not accessible by private car during this period but only through tour agency.
The elevation is about 1500 meters. There are washroom at the parking area. Delicious hot onion soup and red-bean mochi were served at the parking area. They are free.
A veteran guide was assigned to walk with us and provide information regards Zao Echo line. There was also free snow sled at parking area.
It was a pleasant experience.

(Translated by Google) 2023/4/25 A road that crosses the Zao mountain range and connects Yamagata and Miyagi. Free. It is famous for its snow walls, waterfalls, and spectacular views of the mountains. There are multiple trailheads and observation points. It is only passable from late April to early November. However, there are temporary road closures due to bicycle road races (Sunday mornings in mid-May) and bad weather. Also, in spring and autumn, the road is open from 8 AM to 5 PM. The same goes for the High Line, which is a derivative of the Echo Line (you can go as far as the summit of Mt. Kattadake for a fee). Being passable means you don't need winter tires. We recommend that you check with the town hall or tourist association to confirm whether or not you can pass during times of inclement weather. There is a large electronic bulletin board on the road with information, but the current situation will only be reflected on the day after the office has started work. For example, today 2023/4/25. It was temporarily closed yesterday due to early morning snowfall. It was sunny at noon yesterday, and the weather was perfect again this morning, so I got on board with all my might. However, at 7:30 AM, there was a message on the electronic bulletin board saying it would be closed all day! Unable to give up, I went to the gate and was able to pass. In other words, even if it is determined that the gate is open for passage on that day, the information will not be reflected on the electronic bulletin board until the government office has started its operations. Of course, the opposite is also possible. It would be like saying, do your best in human affairs and wait for your destiny. The gates are located at Bodaira Kogen (Yamagata side) and Sainohei (Miyagi Prefecture side). The road on the Miyagi Prefecture side is quite long and has ninety-nine turns, but the view is more spectacular than on the Yamagata side. During this season, walls of snow occur frequently on the Miyagi Prefecture side. There are several free parking lots with restrooms along the way. I would like to conclude this article by wishing you all the best of luck.

Zaō Fox Village is a must-visit attraction in Japan. This park boasts free-roaming red foxes and features a gift shop and petting area with ponies and rabbits. The sight of foxes running around freely between red tori gates is truly amazing. The large fenced-in area allows visitors to take photos of the foxes, but petting them is strictly prohibited as they may bite.
LOTs of cute foxes everywhere in this little park. It was my second time visiting but they are all super cute like before. Tho, there are lots of icy part in the park so if you are not very confident in walking, this place might be difficult in the winter. They got separate area for feeding foxes and also they do touch or hug the fox around 2pm.
However it is not a zoo, so keep that in mind. Not too recommended with small children either. Perfect spot if you wanna see cute fox or wanna take cute pics.
Parking is free, you can take cab or bus too. Entrance fee is ¥1,000. Probably need 15min or less to spend in this facility.

How to reach:
From Tokyo you can take Tohoku Shinkansen to Shiroishi Zao station.
From this station bus is available for fox village twice a day at 10:00 and at 13:00. Taxi is the most reliable however it costs 5000 each way.
Weather:
I visited the Fox village in December, weather was -3 deg c and windy.
About Fox village experience:
Entry ticket is 1000 yen per adult and free for children.
Pros:
Foxes are very cute, they roam freely. Most are calm and sitting quietly, easy to take photos. Separate Feeding area is there.
You can cuddle foxes for 600 yen and staff will take photographs with our smartphone. This experience is totally worth it, I would say this is the only thing you will like about the place.
There are some goats and other animals. Goats are very cute and friendly
Cons:
Some staff are not so friendly, especially at ticket counter, it is insulated especially in tourist area. When asked about when we can hold foxes, they told us to look for board. similar experience at gift shop.
Fox poo in the walking path and smell is bad, could use some cleaning. It was very slippery, placing handrails would help.
Place Could use some maintenance.
There is no place to buy food, you can buy few drinks like coffee, tea and water.

I love foxes and decided to finally make the trip out with my family who's visiting Japan.
I didn't do my research very thoroughly so I planned for us to be out there all day, thinking the village was a large open roaming area for the foxes that we could explore throughout the day from around 11:00 to 16:00.
It is definitely not that! It's a small enclosed area that has some room for the foxes to roam, but many of them are kept in cages and even the ones out and about seemed restless and hungry.
To be fair, I don't see all of the care practices going on here and it could be better than it seems at first glance. And as a tourist who came to see foxes I don't have much room to say much because I got what I paid for.
However, this park seems like it was something they created in the 80s or 90s as a tourism grab for the area and the facilities and care practices seem to have not advanced at all since then.
What worries me is that you are not permitted to take pictures of the foxes kept in tiny cages and there are signs absolutely everywhere stating that you cannot write up a report against the village. This is a big red flag to me, it feels like they're saying "we know this isn't great for optics, so don't go telling people about it."
Also, the ponies and goats are a sidebar that go forgotten and unmentioned but why have them there just to keep them in tiny areas where they can barely move around?
Overall, it was very different from what I had imagined especially after reading so many reviews that this was the "most magical place" and that the foxes roam free and seem happy and healthy...I do hope I am wrong and that the foxes are treated much better than it seems at first glance.

A very enjoyable place to visit for animal lovers. There are many foxes roaming within a large enclosed outdoor park. Because of foxes' sleep cycle, you're best to get there first thing when they open to see the foxes being lively. The foxes become sleepy as you get towards mid-day. It's cute to watch them sleep, but only for so long.

This place is disgusting!
Are you serious? Place here a good rating?
First of all:
There are to many foxes. It's absolutely against their nature. Actually, they are loners. Max. two of these beautiful beings get along with each other. They are constantly under stress. Panting, have sores from constantly fighting for water or eating. They're just waiting for someone to give them food. The Foxes are in critical health! Look very tattered and thin. Have open wounds!
Some are kept in small cages or chained for photos. Without water.
Please! Don't visit this place!
Report it to the authorities! As more People do something about it, as more faster likely something will happen!
You can find a lot videos about this abusement at youtube and google.
PS: Are you there in winter? The foxes get a winter coat, which of course makes them look better. Ultimately, however, it costs them even more energy, which is why they feel even worse…
Janice Kurtzyk — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience. You will be right in the pen with the foxes. Just be aware that they are indeed wild animals, and while the signage and staff will do all they can, it's definitely not a place to mess about. That being said, it is unforgettable and absolutely recommended. Just be careful and follow the signs. Also, check the bus run times, or you will need to take a taxi, which can be pricey.
Nick Torison — Google review
Bit of an ambivalent experience. Cute foxes, most of them looked like they were well taken care of. In the big enclosure, where you walk with the foxes, there was almost no grass and just dry earth for the foxes to lay on and such. They were dirty and their fur was matted. Some of the foxes looked great. They had foxes in small enclosures also, which we didn’t like. It seemed unnatural. 1000 yen to enter so it wasn’t bad, but I don’t think we will do it again.
Freja Tousgaard Andersen — Google review
Quite a distance to travel to but we'll worth it once you arrived. The moment you step into the grounds, those little cute foxes will be all around you, free-roaming and curious. Caught a few sleepy heads that's curled up with their fluffy tail. Was amused and surprised by the noises they make. Have to hear it to believe it. One of the best places to see and experience a large group of foxes in their natural setting.
Chee Yeong Foo — Google review
I feel the need to give a low rating even though I had a good time seeing these wild animals so close.
Foxes were adorable, as my photos show. TBH I still enjoyed a god time having the chance to interact close to them, but they sleep a lot, fight a lot, and look pathetic for most of the time🥹. Limited access to food and health it living environment, frequent fighting between foxes, and most importantly, carelessness of the établissement owner.
Photos and evidences of maltreatment are forbidden, showing how less the attention was given to the animals!
Yu-Hsuan Ku — Google review
Definitely a top spot that should be in every Japan checklist. The sight of foxes running around freely and between red tori gates is amazing. Its a fenced large area where you can freely take photos of foxes running around. The staff will tell you not to pet them or they bite. There is also a feeding area where you can buy food to feed them. Quite fun. Bring 100 yen change. A lot of it.
Staff are helpful & guide you if you know Japanese well. The way to reach here easily is a taxi from either of the stations (Shiroishi or Shiroishi-Zao). 5k around one way. They will book a taxi for you on the way back from the reception area.
Sutirtha Das — Google review
In two minds about this place. Great to see so many different kinds and taking good photos up close. Also how the foxes co-exist with each other (especially in crowded conditions).
Not being pack animals, it is way too crowded and unnecessarily so. Being in the mountains and a harsh life, particularly in winter, you'd probably find them coming back for shelter and food if the gates were left open! However, they should cut down on numbers, have a spading programme and not keep breeding so many. That way, they could also give more land for those other non-native foxes rather than small cages.
Be ready for rather aggressive keepers. From their perspective, they are stressed by large groups of foreigners which often do not observe the rules in the enclosure.

Always wanted to go the fox village and I wasn’t disappointed. Just remember before you plan they close every Wednesday!! I drove up there from Sendai only took an hour, I was looking at buses and trains it took too long and too much hassle driving was the best option in my opinion!
Once you go inside you will see several foxes in cages and some chained up, they are the friendly ones, twice a day 11am and 2pm staff will bring them out and you can hold them while the staff take pictures for you!
Once you get inside the large enclosure you will see over 200 foxes maybe, mostly they are sleeping curled up like cinnamon rolls! If you are ever in Sendai make this trip you won’t be disappointed!

The foxes are so sweet.
Some may think they are trapped within the boundary and worse, in cages. As a tourist I have no say in this matter.
But from the point of attraction, this is one of a time experience, to come close to another cute animal other than domestic pets like cats and dogs. They argue all the time and it’s fun to just watch them.

Very cute and peaceful place to see a lot of foxes. Foxes were all pretty relaxed and didn't seem stressed.
It's fairly small and probably won't take more than an hour even if you stick around for feeding time. In the weekend morning there were very few people about.
Driving there is quite easy and there is a good sized parking lot.
Although staff don't speak English the basic rules are printed in English and easy to follow.

It is not exactly an easy place to get to, but it is worth the work if you are an animal lover. Thou they are trapped in a huge cage compare to being in the wild but it is definitely better than the zoo and gave me a chance to interact with the animal otherwise itnwould be dangerous to encounter them in the wild.
I was lucky enough being the last person doing the fox interaction session since I missed ( or more like didn't understand) the announcement for the event, but I was there when it was happening. It starts twice a day at 11 am and 2 pm for 700 yen a person. Letting you pet the animal for a while... such lovely and fun experience.... same as dog.. don't panic as it picks up your vibe

I had often passed by the place, but this was my first time to take a closer look.
It must have been well-maintained and in good condition before, but now, although it's not in ruins, it doesn't seem to have any life in it.
Even if you take the fact that it was winter when there were few plants, it would take a lot of work to make it look lively.
Walking through the park, the structure is reminiscent of the European countryside, giving off a unique atmosphere, but it feels like a waste.
I wonder if it will look a little better after a certain period of time, and how it will look if I visit when the surrounding area is green.

Sumikawa Snow Park is a great ski resort suitable for skiers of all levels. In addition to the standard runs, there are tours available to nearby snow-covered fir trees known as "snow monsters." The park features unique courses that connect in various ways, ensuring that each run is exciting and different from the last. The difficulty of the slopes is perfectly balanced, making it neither too challenging for beginners nor too easy for intermediate snowboarders.

Visited for snowshoe hiking. The rental prices were reasonable and the lift tickets are about what you'd expect. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the gear and the trails.
Start early if you are hiking, as the trip took longer than we expected. It's an easy course for people with snowshoe hiking experience, but if you don't have any experience or only have regular hiking experience (me)...it's not exactly a beginner course.
The views along the trail are breathtaking and totally worth the effort to make it to the shrine at the top of the mountain. Pictures simply don't do it justice.
Weather conditions will greatly affect your hike, so plan for a sunny day and hope the weather keeps!

Ride to Okama crater in Cat car is awesome. It takes 50 mins to 1 hr to reach Okama crater from Sumikawa snow park. They have 2 trips in day. 10:30 am and 1:00 pm. Good to take morning tour.

Sumikawa snow part is a great place for beginner and intermediate levels. The courses aren't too long, but not too short either. It has 3 lifts and about 6 groomed courses with some off course runs you can do if you're intermediate to advanced. It's also a snow park, so towards the bottom, when you get off the first lift, the are lots of ramps for jumping, rails, flat boxes and a few other additions as the snow starts to stack up. The snow park is easy to get to by car or by bus reservation from Sendai station. You have to call to make the reservation and the staff only speak Japanese. The bus leaves sendai station at 8:20 am and arrives there around 10:30am. It would've been nice to have an online reservation system with google docs. This way you can avoid the language barrier if you dont speak Japanese and it gives you an idea on how packed the bus will be for the day you want to go. You must call to reserve before 4 pm the day before you want to go, because that's when the park closes. There is no night riding like neighboring resort Eboshi or Spring Valley which you can see as you're on the bus heading there, but the price is cheaper here because of that. There are also tours you can take in the cat tractors or go snow shoeing to see the Zao Okama crater. About a 3 or 4 hour hike one way. One thing to note is that the Miyagi side of the Zao mountain range is cloudy more often than the Yamagata side. Overall it's a good mountain, cheap and easy to get to if you're in sendai. Oh, and there is a bus that will take you to an onsen town around 1:30 and will pick you up on its was back to sendai around 5.

The snow park was great. The courses are perfect for beginners to intermediate level skiers and snowboarders. There are a lot of unique paths that connect the courses to make every run different and exciting. The difficulty curve is perfect, not to hard for beginners and not to easy for intermediate snowboarders. There is also a really good snowboard park with a good variety of jumps and some grinds. The cost is very affordable, and the slopes always have a good snow base. One thing to be careful about is the road to Sumikawa. It's very twisty and can be covered with some snow in February, making it slippery. So drive safe and have fun!

I went to the snowmobile tour on the first weekend of Feburary. Due to the severe blizzard, we could not access to 'snow monster' area. But, the sightseeing was really nice and we can see trees fully frozen by ice due to the supercooling.
The staff were passionate and nice. Plenty of snow is existed due to the high elevation. I hope to visit again for skiing.

It was hot the day before. And it was a heavily snowy day. Most of them are ice monsters instead of snow monsters. Overall, it was a nice tour. Even though it turned out to be a tour for harsh winter instead of snow monster. 5 out of 5.
Miyagi Zao Eboshi Resort is an activity resort that offers ski and snowboard runs as well as opportunities for spring wildflower treks, stargazing, and fall foliage. The resort features beginner-friendly slopes along with more challenging ones for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The courses are picturesque and diverse, and the snow conditions are usually favorable. Lift prices are reasonable, with options for time-based or per-ride tickets available.
Great ski resort to learn. The snowboard school is particularly good. Discounts for foreigners in lift tickets and a webpage where you can webcams so you know the conditions before you leave. There is a bus from Sendai station but having a car is definitely recommended. Decent restaurant and there is also a place where you can bring your own food. Family friendly with kids park and mostly easy slopes. Begginners can ask lift operators to slow them down to get on an off, just raise your hand.

The ski resort had a lot of amazing slopes that are easy for beginners and a good challenge for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The courses are very scenic and offer a lot of variety. The snow conditions are generally very good. The lift cost and lift options for time and per-ride tickets is very fair. All of the facilities for food and rentals is fantastic!! They also have a kids course for bunny learners and little kids to ride sleds.
Chloe Rogers — Google review
We did the night ski last night. My kids are beginners, so we bought one ride tickets. It takes us 30 minutes to go up and come down. At 300 yen for one lift, twice was enough for an after school run. Lots of snow there now.

Ski resort is good with great track but sadly there are no instructors for beginners..wish they had organised tours for beginners with instructors ..the staff is helpful (very limited English though) but it’s no use when you need someone to guide you...
if you are a beginner, you will prefer a place where they can instruct you rather than leaving on your own

Zao Onsen Ski Resort is a charming mountain village near Sendai city, offering natural hot springs and stunning winter scenery. The area is known for its abundant snowfall, creating a picturesque landscape with snow-covered trees and unique ice sculptures. As the oldest hot spring in the Tohoku Region, Zao Hot Spring provides an authentic experience of traditional Japan amidst nature and old villages. Visitors can enjoy skiing on slopes suitable for all skill levels and then relax in outdoor hot springs at a reasonable price.
Exceptionally beautiful ski/board course.
The trees look magical covered in snow.
Has several beginner areas. The panoramic route through the snow monsters is amazing. Although there are a lot of flat areas in between.
Free shuttle Buses run between the gondolas till evening. Gondolas stop operating a bit early so plan otherwise. You can take a gondola to the top with a separate ticket as well. Illumination was cancelled the night i went due to bad weather.

Discover a hidden gem of a ski resort that offers an extraordinary experience! This resort is a paradise for ski enthusiasts who appreciate pristine snow conditions, breathtaking scenic views, and unique local features. The ski tracks are beautifully maintained, nestled among majestic snow-covered trees, and the resort’s distinctive tree monsters add a whimsical charm to the landscape.
Unlike the busier and more commercialized ski destinations, this resort provides a tranquil escape, ensuring that the slopes are less crowded and the overall experience is more intimate. Its budget-friendly nature, compared to more popular resorts like Niseko, makes it an excellent choice for those seeking value without compromising on quality.
A useful tip for future visitors: remember to carry cash, as many of the cozy, on-site restaurants prefer it over card payments.
While the resort boasts an ample number of ski coaches, travelers should be aware that English communication may be limited. Despite this, the friendly and accommodating staff ensures a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Overall, if you’re in search of an authentic ski getaway where you can connect with the essence of winter sports in a serene and picturesque setting, this resort is an unbeatable choice. Don’t miss out on this less-trodden winter wonderland!

The best ski resort we’ve ever been to in Japan. Superb snow quality that is comparable to Niseko but WAYYYYYYYY less people. Also less touristy than Niseko and Hakuba.
3 hours JR from Tokyo to Yamagata and 40 minutes bus from Yamagata to Zao.
The mountain is huge despite all the entrances are relatively close. A lot of courses for all skill levels.
No driving is required as everywhere is walkable in this little snow town. Choose an onsen ryokan to stay at, onsen here is legit and helps with the soreness after an entire day of workout.
Love the snow monsters at the peak.
Don’t think I’ll ever go back to Niseko again. 🤣

Good for skiing with lots of slopes and good quality of snow. As there are many flat places between slopes compared to the other ski resorts in Japan, it might not be suitable for snow boarding. Be careful for one of the cable cars as it has been occupied by normal tourists and need to wait for long time to go up for skiing. Unfortunately the snow monsters around the top of the mountain had been collapsed due to strong wind when I went there. Good luck.
Google review
Really lovely ski resort.
If you want to get up to the top quicker and you’re skiing, take smaller lifts as high as you can get and then take the big gondola that goes all the way to the top. (It’s worth the wait)
It’s a tourist destination as well due to the frozen jizo statue and the snow monsters, so lots of people crowd the big gondolas 🚡 which can be frustrating if you are going to ski.
More tourist destination than ski hill
(which is good and bad in some ways)
I think that this is a great place to go ski once or so for the experience, but it’s definitely not the place if you want to get as many runs as possible in. Snow quality is pretty good but the main draw is definitely the views!

Zao Monsters viewing:
- very weather specific!
- if raining or not cold enough or too windy the access to the summit where the zao monsters are at will be closed.
- didn’t get to see it during my trip
- the rope-way access to the summit took 50 mins to the first stop and 1.5 hours at the mid point to the summit.
- the cables were frozen over and the ropeway was delayed.
- the timing reflected on the signs weren’t accurate.
- hard to see as we were catching a Shinkansen back to Tokyo.
- the timing of the bus to Yamagata feels out of sync from the Shinkansen
- this results in long waiting times in between and you having to leave zao 2 hours earlier than your shinkansen training timing.
- planning certainly required and also a longer stay.
- the resort town is otherwise quiet with nothing much else for non-skiers.
- the slopes and power snow looks great for skiers/snowboarding!

Offers many courses (routes) for all levels! Spent 4 days here (first time) learning snowboarding and it was simply amazing. Came in 19 Jan to 23 Jan (2023); with 2 out 4 days encountering bluebird snow. Many different types of slopes (green, red and blacks). Very wide slopes on most greens (no. 5 - uwantodai) and (no. 20 slope) were our favourite at the start to learning. After successfully learning toe and heel; the ohira course was the next best; with little flats and mostly green, and a few reds. Fell in love with the scenery and views all over the mountain while learning snowboarding. Simply amazing place (especially so for beginners).

This is gem for skiing and snowboarding lovers . It is huge, suitable for all levels. Snow quality is as good as in Niseko. The town is bit quiet, but with lots of nice onsens. Try to choose hotels with food plans, there are some restaurants in the onsen area, but not so many. No night life for sure😅.

Zaō Onsen is a famous hot spring area on Mount Zaō in the northern part of Honshū, the main island of Japan.
Records of the onsen date back as far as 110 AD. A wounded warrior is said to have drawn an arrow out of his body and cleaned the wound at a spring only to find that the injury healed miraculously quickly and well. It is known locally as "Springs of Beauty."

I went end of March and the weather was perfect! but the snow was a little bit harder this time of year. Getting around the mountain is very easy with the Sky Lift cable cart systems and variety of slopes to go down.
It's very tourist friendly and getting to the mountain was very easy by bus from Yamagata station. Cost about 1000yen for a round trip on the coach bus.

Skiing / snowboarding conditions were sublime in late February – we did not know such excellent snow existed. The slopes were not at all crowded on a week-day and the food at the bottom of the lifts is excellent, as are rental facilities at the bottom of lift 4. The weather was tough on both days though – with chilly winds and in places poor visibility. Snow monsters were partially visible. The town has several public bath options in case you don’t have one in your hotel. The road clearing in town was good despite heavy snowfall.

This a great ski resort, especially for beginners and sightseeing. There are some advanced hills, but not many so this isn't the place to come for big thrills. The beginner slopes are great for learning though! There's a lot of long, simple runs. Also, a lift ticket isn't much more expensive than a ropeway ticket so if you want to see the snow monsters you might as well go skiing too. Only real complaint is some awkward flat/uphill spots here and there that required me to take off my skis and walk a couple times.

I never thought I would find Engishikiuchisha in a place like this.
There is a quite impressive main shrine for an inner shrine, and we can see that Okama was a place of considerable worship.

Kattadake in Shichikashuku-cho, Katta-gun, Miyagi Prefecture, at an altitude of 1,758 m, is called ``Okumiya'', and ``Kattamine Shrine'' in Togatta Onsen, Zao-cho, is called ``Satomiya''. The deity is moved to both shrines depending on the season, such as the mountaintop in the summer and the village shrine in the winter. The view was very good and the pot looked very beautiful. The shrine building is made of concrete to withstand the cold of winter. The torii gate at the entrance of Zao Echo Line was called "Zao Daigongen Otorii," so when I looked it up, I found that the name had changed from Zao Daigongen Shrine to Suizu Shrine to Kattamine Shrine.

Zao's Okama is a crater lake and its desolate scenery is unlike anything on Earth.
It looks like a scene from some planet.
You can take a lift up from the parking lot.

When handing over the stamp book, please close it to prevent it from opening in strong winds. It requires special care that can only be achieved at the top of a mountain.
I was about to open it and give it to him, but he asked me to close it.
When I visited, I felt my spine grow as I saw how carefully they wrote the notes.
Amulet, stickers, and summit commemorative items are also on sale.
