San Cristóbal Hill is a landmark hill in Santiago, Chile that offers amazing city views and is accessible on foot. The peak is also home to a statue of the Virgin Mary and gardens. There's a zoo nearby as well as other attractions.
This is a very beautiful park with fantastic views and it’s really easy to get to. Take the metro line 1 to Baquedano station then walk north about four blocks and you’re there. I took the bus round trip to almost the top (you have to hike the last bit) and then back down. It cost about 3 usd. I didn’t take the cable car because I was scared it would get stuck and I would be trapped but I’m sure the view from the cable cars are way better than from the road. The weird thing was that when I checked my Swatch after exiting the park, it was a couple hours behind. As if it had stopped the whole time I was on the hill. It’s never done that before.

This is a lovely green space in a busy metropolis. You can access via the funicular, the cable car or smiply walk up the hill. The views are amazing, the city is so huge below you. Lovely play areas, historic buildings plus peace and quiet. Definitely worth a visit

Very beautiful hill! From here u can see all the city! Wonderful the going on by funicular or cable car. Many attractions up to the hill and so relax.

Spend the day in the beautiful park and enjoy many moments 🙏
We took the cable car all the way from bottom to top. It was a very pleasant ride and great view of the city.
The Virgin Mary is the perfect place to feel the culture and enjoy the beauty of Santiago.

The hill is a part of a huge park (free entrance) with gardens, playgrounds and bikeways. It’s a perfect place for outdoor activities such as jogging, cycling, or yoga, or just for a picnic with family and friends. Sunset yoga on the top level of the park is amazing!
There are also cable cars available, the view in the morning is sooo lovely.
Highly recommend to visit💙

Great overview over the city of Santiago.
The funicular gives you the chance to see more of the hill’s natural flora and you can enjoy a breathtaking picture over the skycfapers of Chile’s capital on your way back to the base of the hill.
Totally recommend it for a different experience in Santiago

Final cable car or fenicular back down is at 7:30pm. Get there with plenty of time because the staff are very unhelpful and can’t be bothered working close to the end of their shift.
That aside - good views over the city

Amazing panoramic view of Santiago city in Chile from the top of San Cristobal Hill. The hill is located in northern Santiago, Chile. It rises 850 m AMSL and about 300 m above the rest of Santiago. Can travel to the summit by the funicular railway which is enjoyable way to ascend

Beautiful overlook of Santiago. The gondola gives you a good sense of the enormity of the city.
Marco Brown — Google review
The views of city are amazing from here. If you forget the painfully long queue to get on funicular to get to top, this is great place to see

Nice views of Santiago better go before 11am otherwise busy
William — Google review
I suggest riding one way with the cable car and the other way with the funicular. You get to experience both, see the views in a different way and their distance- puts you in different parts of the city. The funicular puts you near the Bella Vista neighborhood which has some great eateries and shopping. The experience to get the tickets was confusing, but once I got a hang of what to do- the process was easy. I recommend reserving ahead.

The best attraction in Santiago a clear must visit. The statue of st Mary is at the top at the end of the tram but the best picture spot is actually in the middle stopping point where you can get the postcard picture of the tram and a not too far away view of the sky costenera. Again a must visit!
This recent addition to Santiago's Museum Circuit commemorates the victims of human rights violations during Chile's military dictatorship from 1973-1990. The exhibits are powerful and emotional, and the museum is free.
Extremely necessary and important place to reflect about the horrors of losing democracy to violent and coward usurpers. This is a mandatory visit, take your time here, don't rush!

Wow, it was amazing to see the history of Chile. Such interesting information and so impactful. The wall of pictures was especially impactful, and so sad. I love that you can light a candle for specific people on the wall or in the database. Such an amazing place for remembering what happened and grieving those lost.

Amazing Museum! Be ready to take at least a half day to wander and read through 4 levels. My mind was tired.
It was so nice to enter through the metro station-very handy
Rebecca Hardgrave — Google review
This is a great modern-style museum, but as others have pointed out the information is not very easily accessible to non-Spanish speakers. There is an app you can download that gives you some information in English but it's hard to navigate it - the sequence of the audio clips does not quite match the sequence of exhibits in the museum, information about some halls seems to be missing altogether, etc. There are a handful of translated texts (in English) within the museum itself, but that's maybe 20% of the contents.
Also worth nothing that the closing time stated here (16:30) refers to last entry - the museum is actually open past 17:00, but don't know exactly how late.
Yova Kementchedjhieva — Google review
A very well put together museum that tells the tale of the time of the dictatorship in Chile and the victims of it.
The museum is visually pleasing while still giving off an environment of memory and mourning.

Amazing architecture, great way to know history better, totally worth the visit.
If you’re for 2 or 3 days in Santiago, it should be one of the places to visit.
Javi Yera — Google review
This was the best (and most unique) museum I visited during my trip to Santiago. Be forewarned that it is a very heavy museum and many Chileans that I observed while visiting were noticeably upset and moved by the subject material. It reminded me of the holocaust museum in Washington DC.
I feel fortunate that I was able to visit and I had nothing else on my agenda for the afternoon. A Spanish speaker can easily spend a full day exploring all of the exhibits here and watching all of the content that is available.
The do have an audio guide that is available in English and other languages. I also found myself using Google Translate to help with many of the signs and exhibits.
Do not miss this stop while you are in Santiago. It is easily accessible from the metro and completely free to enter. Highly recommended!
David Lazar — Google review
A must stop for museums in Santiago. The long walk invites you into the entrance. As you walk into the entrance, you get a hint of how detailed of an experience you are about to have.
Having shortly after you enter is a nicely made quilt that is hard to miss on your way upstairs to the exhibit.
When you enter you quickly realize that you are going to be told the story of how Chile 🇨🇱 was taken from its citizens by a military dictator, and the long and unfortunately deadly road to get it back.
Spend the right amount of time there because there are a lot of hidden gems that you can find and help tell the story.

Always good to remember past mistakes with the hope that they are not repeated. It would be helpful if there was more English translation. While Chile bore all of the sadness, all the world can learn from it.

But I can't tell that I understand their pain & sorrow.
How can I tell that I understand their deep and untoldable pain.
I can only say that respect and remember
Chile people' BLOOD for freedom.
Chile and chile people will be blessed
if the God is being.
And I feel shame that Korean people still does not
have the national memorial of Democracy and
human right.
We are the only country from the Colony has the empirial Invasion to Democratic country by the people, not by the politicians not the elites.
Now Korean lives in developed country,
means we have money..

This museum left a profound impression on me, as an exceptional tribute to the past, providing visitors with a rich and informative experience that delves into the country's history. The abundance of resources allows you to immerse yourself in the stories, testimonies, and accounts of individuals who experienced firsthand the human rights violations that occurred during this challenging time in Chile. It creates a thought-provoking atmosphere that encourages reflection and deepens one's understanding of the importance of remembrance. Highly recommend!!

Amazing museum that should be a must visit for all tourists and people in the area. I was only able to see a small portion of it, but was absolutely blown away with the details and artifacts present. I also loved that there was a direct connection to the Metro station below ground.

Such an important museum and yet so sad. But it shows how easily and quickly our basic human rights can be taken away. Lest we forget and we have to be always vigilant about what is happening… especially right now…

Very nice museum to describe that history, but explanation in English is not enough. This is a big drawback. Hopefully the museum can add more description in English so that international visitors can also know better about that part of Chilean history.

Free of charge museum built in the shape of a glass memorial mural.
The museum architecture is austere as it is its exhibits.
This multi story high museum contains in each level a well crafted set of exhibits displaying the brutality of dictatorship, as well as the actions that were taken in the 11th Set to archive democracy.
Museum that houses an extensive collection of Pre-Columbian art from across Latin America. This museum is located in one of the most historical areas in Santiago and is well worth a visit for anyone interested in history.
Superb collection of local cultural heritage. Beware that rooms 1 to 8 of 12 could not be visited, but you're not informed of this when buying a ticket. Regardless, a must-see. There is so much to learn and do much scope for the imagination!
Oana-Meda Pop — Google review
I'm giving the museum 5 stars cause I think it will be amazing once its finished. When I visited there was only really the basement exhibits open.
That being said the quality of the exhibit was amazing. There was great info on the artifacts and about different cultures that lived throughout the country. Also written in English which was great for me!
Garrett Fagnou — Google review
Possibly the best museum in the world, definitely the best in Chile. Disclaimer: I love Pre-Columbian art & history. The sheer number and variety of artifacts is astounding. You’ll see things here you won’t see anywhere else on Earth. This is a must-visit spot in Santiago.
Matt Shaver — Google review
Well done museum. Great displays in English and Spanish (and the perfect amount of text to keep your attention while still being informative). Minus one star because there are no water fountains and the cafe is too stingy to fill your water bottle despite a relatively high entrance fee

A great muse6of pre-Colombian artifacts. One floor is for central and south American cultures and civilizations, Mayan, Inca, Moche, etc. The bottom floor is for artifact from Chile and called Chile before Chile. Amazing stuff, from tiny objects to giant figures sculpted out of wood. If you are in Santiago, do not miss this place.
Mahmood Ibrahim — Google review
The second floor was closed and the 1st floor had no English translation on any exhibit. The overall display across the two floors open is very little compared to other museums. Besides the above the museum has some great pieces and very interesting information on the countries past cultures.

A must see stop in Santiago if you are at all interested in Latin American history. This museum tells the story of the time before the Spanish conquered South America. It tells the story of the people who lived here, their lives, and their culture. Absolutely amazing museum.
Kim O'Connell — Google review
Wow, this is a fabulous collection of very old artifacts from all over South America. A few of the items are up to 4000 years old, with most items in the 500 to 1000 years old. One should allow up to 3 hours to see and read about all the items. Some descriptions are in English, but a lot of the tags could use a bit more to help in the titling etc.
Dana Hummel — Google review
Great museum, amazing objects from all south and Central America, makes you reflect on the impact of European colonialism on indigenous cultures
Jacopo Villani — Google review
This is a high class, high quality museum. The exhibits are well put together similar to what you'd see at any world class museum. The architecture of the building is tastefully done. There's English on the majority of the plaques. Unlike other museums there is a fee for this one of 10,000 CLP for foreigners. There's also artefacts you can see here which aren't available anywhere else. Like 7000 year old mummies..
Aaron Coates — Google review
Impressive (but not massive) collection spanning not just Chilean but other Latin American countries’ history. English translations made this more accessible than many other museums we have been to on the continent.

Amazing art en self explanatory. Ticket cost 10000. We where there for 1,5 hours. Enjoyed the art and well preserved pottery.

This is one of the COOLEST museums I have ever been to anywhere in the world. The “Chile before Chile” exhibit downstairs was breathtaking to see the rich history of the land dating back over 13,000 years. Price is so reasonable at 10,000 pesos, it was not busy, and you can expect to spend ~1 hour here.
Neal Bakshi — Google review
This is THE coolest museum I've ever been to. I had only ever seen this stuff in archaeology text books at university, but now I've seen them up close and personal. There were great artifacts ranging from textiles to pottery and statues. Such beautiful art and an impressive facility with helpful staff.

The museum showcases an impressive collection of pre-Columbian objects, including pottery, textiles, mummies, lithic pieces, metalwork, and more. To fully appreciate the details of the collection, plan to dedicate at least 2-3 hours to your visit.
Mabelin Santos — Google review
Great small museum with a collection of Pre-Columbian artifacts worth seeing. A nice collection of Mayan ceramics, always a highlight for us. Beautiful weavings and textiles magnificently preserved and displayed. Beautiful Mapuche jewelry.
Casey and Priscilla — Google review
Don’t let the 10K CLP price tag (foreign tourists) discourage you— a visit here is definitely worth it. Thoughtfully curated exhibits where the pieces were accompanied by descriptions/explanations/contexts in both Spanish and English. There’s a a lot to learn and admire.
The first exhibit showcases very well preserved pieces with incredible details. The textile room had drawers that you can open and would teach you different weaving techniques. The repair exhibit reaffirms the importance of taking care of our belongings instead of replacing them in the current consumerist culture.
Fong — Google review
The museum is located directly in the center of Santiago within an area of a lot of old nice buildings.
The most interesting part was in the basement where some parts of the precolombian art was shown also with description in relation of different location and time. In the upper part of the museum of lot of exhibits are shown but with missing additional information. Also no idea was given how to best go through the museum.
Overall for a price of 10000 Pesos for a foreigner the visit was ok.
The museum La Chascona, home to Pablo Neruda’s third wife Matilde Urrutia, is a quirky attraction with vibrant colors and an architecture that mirrors the poet’s individual style. The garden features views over the streets of Santiago, making it a popular spot for visitors to get a glimpse into the Bohemian atmosphere and fashionable restaurants of Bellavista neighborhood.
A very nice house museum. If you are into peeking into amazing peoples houses or Neruda in general this is a must. An audio tour device is available and is included in the price. The house is densely packed with parts of Neruda’s past and life. Like most places it is closed on Mondays.

La Chascona is an interesting museum/ memoral to Naruda. On the one hand it's a look into the personal life of the man who was many things including a politician and a writer. On the other hand it's a testimony to how an ardent Communist can profess communal progress while living lavishly in one of three homes.

The Plaza de Armas is a magnificent historical center in the heart of Santiago, Chile. Surrounded by grand buildings such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, Central Post Office, National History Museum and City Hall, the square is an important part of Chilean history. A multicultural area, it is also a great place to relax and enjoy the stunning architecture.
Centrally located square which is frequented by tourists and visitors. Surrounded by colonial style buildings and green spaces. Neat and clean place usually crowded during day time. The lighting during the night time looks wonderful and serene. Overall worth visiting for the wonderful architecture and atmosphere👌Best way to explore the place is to walk around the paved streets. Language can be a barrier as English is not widely spoken but thankfully you have some signboards which help to navigate around.

Plaza de Armas, the vibrant heart of Santiago, is a must-visit destination! This bustling hub is alive with energy, attracting tourists from far and wide. When we were there, the beautiful square was abuzz with numerous attractive activities, from couples dancing the lively Chilean rhythms to street performers like the mesmerizing golden Buddha statue. But what truly makes this place special were the friendly and stunningly handsome and beautiful men and women police officers, who like live midels and add a touch of warmth and charm to the experience. Their welcoming smiles and helpful nature make exploring this iconic plaza an absolute delight!

You cannot miss this classic spot where the amazing city of Santiago saw its early beginnings.
It has endure many moderns changes but I still loved to visit it as I did when my dad used to take my sister and I on Sunday morning to have ice cream and sit at one of the plaza benches after watching the "matinee" at the now long gone "Cine Metro".

There are just so many historical buildings around this plaza that it's definitely worth a visit if you are in the city of Santiago and you want to experience a little bit of Chilean history. If you come on Sunday, it's rather quiet because all the surrounding shops and businesses are closed. But if you come on any other day it is busy, packed with people and full of activity. Around the square, I do recommend that you visit the cathedral of Santiago, maybe one of the museums and then the nearby restaurants that serve up some awesome hot dogs "completos" for lunch!

Beautiful Spanish style plaza. The area has a bit of an unsafe feeling on the blocks around it, but at the square itself, I noticed a lot of police presence, so it was fine. There's a beautiful Cathedral, free to enter and a tourism office. Didn't notice any public restrooms but I went to the Santander cafe opposite the Cathedral. Santa Lucia Hill is a tall, triangular peak in central Santiago, Chile. The summit of the hill overlooks the city and has been used for strategic purposes since the 16th century. It's also home to a picturesque park with terraces, fountains, and a viewpoint.

Public park, safe with good views. We initially had problems finding the entrance, but a homeless man pointed us the right way, which to me says a lot about the area. Apparently this is where Valdivia founded/conquered Santiago five hundred years ago, and the park includes cannons, a fortress, and chapel among other sights.

This is a lovely multi-facetted arts centre. It has a creative areas where the public can come to meet and practise dance moves with others. It has several exhibition spaces for art works and also stages shows. I went to see "Playa Negra" an amazing contemporary dance production exploring the limits of human morality and feelings, quite a bit of nudity, but all very tastefully enacted.

It is a cultural center in which scenic arts are abundant. Two showing rooms for visual art, and another room at the basement. I highly recommended.
Santiago Metropolitan Cathedral is a neoclassical cathedral in the city of Santiago, Chile. The building was originally constructed in the mid-1700s, but extensive restoration work was done in the 19th century after an earthquake destroyed part of it. Today, the cathedral is popular for religious services and tourists often visit for its stunning architecture.
Gorgeous building on the outside but truly spectacular on the inside. Definitely worth a visit regardless of religion.

Catedral Metropolitana de Santiago is one of the most iconic churches in all of Santiago, in one of the most famous city squares in all of the downtown! It was built several times over the years since 1748, and the cathedral that you see now was built in the early 1800s. It’s one of the biggest cathedrals in South America! It’s absolutely magnificent and very much worth the visit if you’re in the city - it’s free too so you can just walk inside, gaze at all the beautiful architecture and artwork, and then walk out! The square that it is located on has tons of other tourist attractions, shops, restaurants, and much more. It really is one of the best spots in Santiago. So check this place out next time you visit!

This is a free Cathedral to visit and it's a very pretty one. You'll likely find a couple of hundred people inside praying or sitting while enjoying the cooler air the church offers. The artwork and detailing inside is gorgeous. There are a couple of side chapels that are quieter and better for prayer if that's why you're visiting. Otherwise be respectful as this is a popular place to worship.

Amazing! Not only a place for prayer, but also to admire. The architecture of this place is astounding. You definitely should visit this Cathedral.

A place that should absolutely visit in Santiago. Remarkable architecture, huge in scale that could be compared to the big cathedrals in Rome. No fee to enter and pictures allowed by mobile (in silence mode)

A cathedral with free entrance in the plaza de armas. Lots of little statues. However it’s also very small. Good thing it is free entrance so take a quick look.

A beautiful and big cathedral. So much to marvel at. The painting and handiwork applied in here are astonishing.
Entry is free and it's nice and quite in there.

…………….From outside this massive solid structure stands strong as with most cathedral worldwide the architecture is always impressive. The inside beautiful as ever and bringing able some awareness of the Almighty who this building was erected in honour of. The doors are always open so you can just wander in and observe the sanctity and sit down in a pew and become quiet allowing the serenity of the immaculate-lii created interior to be absorbed. Two events where well-advertised for the 30th June 2019 name-lii Holy Mass and Sacred Heart Procession of Jesus & Collections for the Charities of the Pope. It was a delight to witness this awesome Place of worship…………….

We were walking around town on New Years Day, and this was one of our stops. It’s in the government district, and the large plaza had a lot of traffic. We didn’t see any problems, but there were a lot of refugees in the plaza, and we had the feeling of being watched by some for possibly pickpocketing, so we did not stay long.
Bill Melcher — Google review
Generally it's great, really peaceful to be in, even if it's other 100 people inside. It takes you out a little bit the fact that there's some hideous stands inside it. Other than that, it's a valuable experience.

What an amazing cathedral. Worth the visit and free. Terry to catch a mass at 6pm. Absolutely a must. The sound system and the televisions means you won't miss what is happening at the altar. Missing that, the cathedral itself is a masterpiece.

Beautiful and grand cathedral decorated with many outstanding art pieces. The Metropolitan Cathedral is acknowledged to be the highest point of Vice Regal and colonial art, architecture, and craftsmanship. The construction of the building started in the mid-16th century and was eventually completed in 1813.

Well worth coming back when they were open to walk through and appreciate the beauty of the design and architecture.
The cathedral is at the northwest corner of Plaza de Armas in the heart of Santiago. The walking street that runs north from the cathedral also has many local vendors and is a market street. Fascinating to see what types of items are being bought and sold there.
This public place is always crowded with lots of locals and other foreign tourists. Lots of music and festivities also. Come and check it out. Beauty area to relax on a beautiful Chilean summer day. 😎🙏🏻

The La Moneda Palace is the seat of the president of Chile and is an important part of Chiles history. The building itself is neoclassical and immaculate, with its grounds also holding an important part of Chilean history. The palace holds a free tour every day, as well as exhibitions in the Cultural Centre beneath it.
This used to be the state treasury and is 'lightly' guarded with a dozen police or so around the perimeter. Nice park to rest and if you're lucky, they might have the changing of the guard whilst you're there
David Maddison — Google review
A simple but very striking building housing government of Chile. You likely won't get inside unless you reserve a tour online through their website. That said, you can visit the grounds in front and behind the palace. Security will be everywhere and you'll probably be one of many visitors around. Go during the holidays to see the grand tree and lights.

Untrustworthy, thieves & scam artists.
Just had taxi ride from hell to our hotel culminating in the driver switching 10000 notes for 1000 notes having put on a very bright blue interior light to disguise the colour of the notes.
Kept us in the car with the doors locked refusing to let us out. The taxi marshal at the Costanera centre was obviously in on the scam, as soon as he realised we were tourists we he directed us to a particular taxi not at the front of the rank. Looking back at the incident should have specified an agreed price and taken photos of the registration of the taxi and to identify the driver. A lesson leaned, never ever use the black & yellow taxis in Santiago, Chile. All are old, battered & have no air conditioning.
Paul Handley — Google review
Hoped to be able to tour the inside, but they had pretty tight security around the building and not allowing tourists to even go inside of the perimeter fence that was set up.
Took a few pictures from the memorial plaza/park area adjacent to the palace. This building functions as a government/state building and houses many offices and meeting rooms for high ranking government officials in the Chilean government.
A nice display and many flags and memorials to past leadership are also found on the ground and around the area. This is one of the key buildings you'll find on many of the Chilean souvenirs. It's a significant historical landmark.

………………..Must say this is not an impressive building like many of the “Capitalio’s” that we have encountered in our world travelling escapades. It looks more like a concrete fort two level high with only the centre been a level higher. There are armed sentries at the almost two storeys high double steel/wooden gates. Unlike many other Parliament building in the world here the public is not allowed entree. But we did discover later that if you booked a tour with a reputed or approved tour company then you would be able to go inside. A few statues of past president grace the surrounds and the lawns around the place is well kept and green. Two active fountains are in front of the building on either sides of the gate. A steel-mash barrier is placed in a front of the building and form a semi-circle from one end of the building to the other end this put the public at least 50 to 80 meters away from the entrance. Seven flag-poles fly the Chilean flags right here where the public can stand and observe the happenings around this important place! It was good to see and visit this place………………….

Sky Costanera is a tourist attraction located on the top of one of the tallest skyscrapers in Santiago, Chile. The elevator takes you to an observation deck where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city from 360 degrees.
Great view of the entire city and the Andes at the top of the tallest building in South America! It was cheap and well done. If you go to the very top floor, it is actually open at the top and you can feel the breeze... it was pretty cool to literally be standing at the top! Go 30 mins before sunset so you get to see it in sunlight and dusk. Very cool, don't skip this!
Dave Schram — Google review
You can hardly feel the lift going up, and yet it's so fast! The views are spectacular. Well worth the visit.
On the way down, you exit on a different floor than you entered, so you have a chance to have an official photo, buy souvenirs, and explore the big shopping mall attached to the Costanera.

It's definitely a must-go attraction in Santiago. You get to know the city from above before actually going to the places of interest, and the guided tour tells some interesting facts about the region's history. Look for the weekdays when there is live music and wine tasting at the top floor. The guide mentioned it, but we visited the place on the wrong day :-(
Another tip: if the weather is good, go at the end of the afternoon to see the sunset (and you may also get a glimpse of the city lights at night).
The ticket could be a little less expensive, though.
Fabio M. Costa — Google review
Tallest building in South America with stunning city views that spreads out from the foothills of Andes. Sunsets are a popular time to visit. If you want less crowd go during the noon. Also, it’s cheaper to visit during the weekdays. The building has a cafe on the 61st floor where you can relax and enjoy a cup of your choice with the stunning views of the landscape.

Amazing views of the cityscape of Santiago. Walk through the mall on the lower level to get to the entrance (didn’t initially see any signs until inside the mall). Very small queue and possible to buy tickets there. The views were great and good to time for sunset. The restaurant food was average with good cocktails but fairly pricey.

The tallest man built structure in all of Latin America... What else needs to be said. This tower is massive and impressive. It's clean lines and simple design is stunning. The experience is equally clean, efficient, and well maintained. The shopping center at the base will give you an entire day of things to do and the tower itself is a peaceful and lofty experience.

Sky Costanera can be seen from miles and when you are on the top at the observation platform, you can see for miles. The views are fantastic, especially of the mountains. From here you can get a really good feel for the city and its sheer size. I love tall buildings and taking pictures from the top. This is one of the best ones so far as the scenery is so amazing.
If you are going to Santiago, this is one thing you should do. The area is also a really nice area to stay. The tower is linked to a shopping mall. We stayed in the Hilton DoubleTree in the tower’s shadow, so it was an easy walk for the mall and tower.
You can see 360 deg from the top and as its on a hill, the aspect is even more pronounced, giving amazing views. If there was one issue, they need to clean the windows a bit more often, as it was hard to find completely clean spots to take pictures.
Definitely worth a visit.
Andy Smith — Google review
I was on the fence on visiting because I had gone to other spots around Santiago and thought I had seen some amazing views, however the views from Sky Costanera was something else. It was beautiful to see the city, surrounded by the Andes from such a height. I had to sit down for a while and take in the beauty of the city and scenery. Worth the money to visit!

Definitely recommend trying to go here. It’s located inside a mall. You go purchase the tickets on the lower level and then enter the elevators to access the top. You can walk around the enter top floor. There is another escalator that you can access an open sky space. It was a little cloudy the day we went and was warned that the visibility was low. We went up anyways because it was the only day we could go. There is a small bar restaurant at the top you can have a drink of coffee and hang out. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

This is a view point of Santiago that is wonderful. Definitely a tourist place. Nice, just need to do it once. Takes about 30-45 minutes total time for this. About $20 USD per person. If you don’t make it…no worries.

Sky Costanera, also known as Gran Torre Santiago, is one of the tallest buildings around the world at a height of 984 feet and gives you a magnificent, panoramic view of Santiago.
The place has an elevator which takes you at the staggering height to see Santiago change its colors as the day progresses. The evening sights from here are the highlights when the whole city glitters with its vibrant lights and if you love places which take you away from the Earth, this place is an absolute must-see!

It was amazing view for us. We visited there week day late noon from before sunset to almost close hour.
We could see Santiago city and Andes mountain from higher place.
They had a bar where we could drink alcohol and snacks. We recommend to visit there before sunset and stay there until you can see night view.
You can but the ticket on the -1 floor at Costanera Center.

The observation deck was awesome. We spent two hours gazing across the panoramic views of Santiago and the Andes Mountains. The Sky Bar cafe offers small bites, coffee, and adult beverages, and the staff is very nice. If you visit, make sure to go to the Open Sky level above the main observation deck so you can feel the breeze!

It is a cheesy thing to do, but heck, which touristy thing isn’t cheesy? It is the tallest building in Latin America, so just for that, it is worth it to visit and see the view. You can't bypass paying for admission by going up to the bar. We got our tickets and snagged a table by the window to enjoy the sunset.

It is definitely a must for every foreigner going to Santiago. I recommend to purchase tickets in advance so that you don't get to do the half hour or more line to purchase them on site.
Also I recommend to go on the sunset hours, a very nice experience to see the city.

Very nice experience. It’s easy to get there by subway and it is conveniently located inside a shopping mall. Found it a bit expensive for the experience but the views are actually so cool. Seeing the city from above surrounded by the Andes is truly incredible. By sunset it gets very packed around the window but found the lower floor a bit less full when watching the sunset.
Other than that, I really enjoyed the experience and liked going up, however, if you’re on a budget/don’t have much time in the city, you can get pretty amazing views from going up cerro cristobal and walking around, especially if you take both the elevator and cable car. You’ll see the city from above and the Andes but paying way less.

I bought a ticket at 8pm ticket in advance but it was a bit confusing to find the entrance. Also it was confusing as there was only one line to the ticket office so even if you have the ticket you still had to line up. Anyway it wasn't busy and it was the perfect time to see the sunset. The bar on the top had a nice selection of cocktails and service was great.

This is at the top of the tallest building in South America, with 62 stories high and a absolutely phenomenall view point from several of the top floors- also binoculars are located around the floor offering views of the snow capped mountains to one side, and the valley on the other. Champagne 🍾 is provided free of charge- was on Friday night and there's plenty of people out who took the opportunity to view the sunset. There's a super fast elevator which takes approximately 1min to get to the top, your ears will pop along the way. Price of entry is 16000 pesos which is reasonable. There's a shopping centre located on the bottom 6 floors with plenty to keep you busy.Highly recommended for anyone who is in Santiago to visit, as it's close to shops and hotels.

Really cool open food hall, with good restaurants and bars. Very touristic and attracts young crowds, but inviting to all ages. Worth the visit, specially in the evenings with the little lights on. Some people mentioned the neighborhood not being the safest, so it's nice to be attentive while getting there. I went by Uber, so I can't tell. There's a metro station nearby. Really cool open air (hence the name "Patio") collection of bars and restaurant, which would be unfair to call "food court" as each and every one has a distinct personality and they are not fast food chain restaurants. It is a bit pricier than fast food, but also much better quality and service, and the space is really nice. There are also stores, mostly of handicraft, also all independent. Well worth a visit and a stop for a drink, for lunch or for dinner.

A 5-star review for Costanera Center in Santiago, Chile:
The Costanera Center is an awe-inspiring architectural marvel that offers an unparalleled experience in Santiago. As the tallest building in the city at a towering 300 meters, it provides a bird's-eye view of the entire metropolis that is truly breathtaking. The panoramic vistas from this height are simply astonishing, offering a unique perspective on the urban landscape below.
Beyond its impressive height, the Costanera Center boasts a multitude of attractions within. The vast mall inside is a shopper's paradise, offering an extensive range of stores and boutiques to explore. From high-end fashion brands to local artisanal shops, there's something for everyone. Additionally, the presence of a super-sized supermarket is a convenient and welcome addition for visitors.
The combination of the stunning view, the diverse shopping options, and the convenience of having a supermarket right there makes the Costanera Center a must-visit destination in Santiago. It's not just a building; it's an experience that captures the essence of the city and offers a comprehensive glimpse into its vibrant culture and lifestyle.

This mall is located on the first 4 or 5 floors of the Costanera tower, which claims to be the tallest buildung in all of South America. If you wish to see Santiago from above, this is the place to visit.
The views are stunning. The guide is excellent and well worth listening to. You will learn a lot from the guide about the tower and its build.
You are free to take photographs and this is also well worth the trip.
On the very top floor you are subject to the elements from above, but, still surrounded by glass.
This is sometimes closed for safety reasons if it is too wet.
You need not be concerned about earth quakes and tremors. The building is designed and built to withstand this to a very high level.
This is a top notch tourist spot and I highly recommend it.

The Mirador Interactive Museum is a great place for families to visit in Santiago. It has many interactive exhibits for children and adults, as well as a 3D theater.
Brilliant place. So many exhibits to touch and twiddle in a well laid out space. All in Spanish, but if you have a decent level you'll be ok. The earthquake room is a big attraction and you have to reserve a place in advance. I don't think you can do that when you buy the tickets online. (As a solo visitor I managed to bag a seat even when it was agotado.)

This is a great place for kids and older people. They have lots of interactive activities on several open floors to explore. The museum has a few courses for smaller groups that you need to get tickets for on a first come, first served. These tickets are very limited, so try to get there early.
The restrooms were clean, but there were no food offerings or water to buy anywhere in or near the museum.
Be sure to get your tickets online. When we got there, the ticket booths were not working, so we had to buy the tickets using our phones. This was a pain since you need to create an account and to create the account, you need a rut number that we tourists don't have.

Cool place. Lot's of hands-on experiences in different subjects. Great for when your with children, but as adults it also definitely is great fun! Have a half day to fill and you don't know what to do, go here, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I wasn't in want case. Go early enough though, because it closes quite early in the afternoon.

Hadn't been here in years, and it's only gotten better.
Gets crowded fast, and remember, while they might sell tickets on the entrance, it's only the leftovers, buy online to secure your entry.
Expansive park on the premises to spend some hours in, extremely limited food choices (a reheating food truck).
Two buildings with different expos, very nice and friendly staff. Couldn't see public available elevators, but there are ramps to connect the main levels.
Small children can't really understand what's going on, but they can still have fun with the sensorial room and other such activities in other rooms.
Plenty of bathrooms, gendered, with diaper stations on all.
Signaling in both Spanish and English.
Viña Aquitania is a picturesque winery spanning 44 acres with a stunning mountainous backdrop. The winery specializes in producing high-quality syrah and cabernet sauvignons. Visitors can take tours of the grounds, which include views from the tower overlooking the vineyard, as well as an exploration of the vines themselves, barrel and tank rooms, bottling and labeling station, and finally, wine tasting.
I cannot say enough good about this vineyard!! We opted for this one because they make organic wine. We didn’t have an appointment for a tour scheduled. We just showed up. We were immensely greeted and made comfortable. The vineyard grounds are Absolutely Beautiful!! It is such a romantic place to visit!! We started our tour of with wine maker Nancy and interpreting for her was Alvaro. The dedication behind their wine making is inspirational!! The vineyard is very in tune with keeping things natural and organic. They are definitely far advanced when it comes to making organic wines. To our surprise the owner Patricio showed up a bit later into our tour. They didn’t just show us around… we learnt the in depth process of wine making. They spent about 3.5 hours with us which I can guarantee you will not get this one on one personal attention from any of the big vineyards. I asked Patricio why he chose to start making organic wines. His story is his to tell, but I encourage you to go and ask. It was a very personal and touching story!! I wish more people in our world would start being conscious about what they are putting in their bodies and how it was made. Patricios heart and soul are so passionate about this type of living. We did our wine tasting at the end of the tour. Let me just tell you… there is a definite taste difference between organic wine and non organic! I highly recommend visiting.. it will be a life changing experience! They are all lovely people. Oh, and the food is very good!!

This peaceful green park is perfect for a relaxing afternoon stroll, with numerous play grounds, long cycle paths and large lawns. The park has stunning views of the skyline of Santiago de Chile at sunset. Highly recommended!

Easily a wonderful park that Santiago should be proud to have. This is as good or better than most parks we have in the US. There are multiple playgrounds, a body weight fitness park, hike and bike trails, a pond, open fields, and a fantastic view of the skyline above it all. You could easily spend hours here e joying the day. There are a fair amount of trees so shade can be found. Restrooms are available for free near the southern part of the park. It's very pet and kid friendly.

Neat and clean for a nice stroll. There are a few stands. And on another end a restaurant called Mestizo.

We took a long walk from our hotel to this park just in time to watch Santiago at sunset.
We got that great, but a whole lot more...
The sunset beats ample of sun rays to mirror facade high rises can be best seen from this park. But there are much more to that. It's here that visitors will get a taste of Santiago's people activities after a long day at work...jogging in team, bike riding, family outing, walking the dog, etc... It was such a pleasure to merge oneself into this lively ambient of a city after work. We really love it.

Impeccable urban space, with plenty of trees and colorful vegetation. Ample and well-kept walkways intersect and surround large grass segments. Clean and safe bathrooms are available to park visitors. Nice place to eat at one end and many other options just a couple of blocks away from the main (Vitacura City Hall) entrance.

This is the nicest park we saw in Santiago and all of Chile during our trip. The mix of active and passive park components was impressive. And the use of the park by people even on a Tuesday night was amazing. Other parks around the world should use this as an example on what to do in parks planning.

An excellent park, kept and maintained to an excellent standard, at the bottom of the park is the restaurant Mestizo, it’s on the route of the Touristik bus, so easily accessible, luckily our hotel was nearby so we could go as many times as we wanted.
The Metropolitan Park of Santiago is a large urban park located in the center of Santiago, Chile. It features a zoo, forest, green space, historic statues, pools and more. The park is famous for its cable cars, which take visitors to the top of the hill overlooking the city.
Went to bike and to hike. Took the sky train too. Beautiful place with great views, even when the mist is thick over the city.
The statue of the virgin Mary and church on top of the hill are gorgeous.
Would have liked to go to the Zoo as well but did not have time.
Great place to bring kids of all ages too. Just be sure to ask about the distances and options to move around. Otherwise the little ones could get tired before reaching the playground and other nice spots.

Enjoyable ride with great views. It would be perfect if they would be open until sunset though. We had to return from the top just before the golden hour. They are giving importance to safety all the time. If you would like to be in the cabin only as a couple and if you ask them so, they are being helpful and reserving the cabin just for you. It is nice to have the privacy.

I really enjoyed a hike I took with a friend through this park. The road was clear, clean, and clearly organized. I went to visit their Japanese Garden and tried the aerial cableway to the top. Didn't have to wait much, and the service was a delight! Can't wait to see their flowers bloom 😍

A huge park to recreate yourself. It has different attractions starting with the cable car that brings you to Cerro Concepción and the zoo to see everything from the top. It's a fun experience but the lines can get tiring for buying tickets or getting on the cable car so be ready for that. I visited the Japanese garden and it was a wow experience. It's just beautiful. There are other things to try like the funicular to go down hills. It's also fun but it gets crowded so be prepared to stand for long time. At the top of the hill there are shops to refresh and eat while observing the panoramic view. It's worth it to visit this amazing park.

Amazing green park which gives you a birds eye and panoramic view of Santiago city. 👌 The skyline offers breath taking views of the snow capped mountains encircling Santiago. The statue of Immaculate Conception is at the top of a hill. You can take the stairs or use the cable car to reach there. There are trekking and biking trails available for enthusiasts. Kids will enjoy the zoo and view points. Plenty of refreshment shops around for any requirements. Modern landscaping adds to the lovely ambience. You are in touch with nature and the clean and green surroundings add to the atmosphere. This is a perfect place to get the best views of Santiago city and the surrounding areas. The sunset views were amazing. Also, its a good place to unwind and do nothing for a while away from the concrete jungle of Santiago! Overall a memorable experience with my local friends and well worth a visit for tourists.👍

An easy going oasis in the middle of an urban setting. This is an abundant green space with amazing views of the city. The cable car is a popular experience and there are also roads, paths, and trails that will get you to the top. The road is closed to cars on weekends making it very pleasant for people to enjoy a more spread out walking experience. Went on a Saturday and, while busy, it was still a very calm and quiet day in the park. I'd love to try the spin bike experience at mid-hill and the downhill trail system. The Japanese friendship garden is free as well and will make your day. Parking is limited at the main park and many people walk from the metro or city parking areas a few blocks away.

The combination ticket going up the funicular and down the cable car was a lot of fun. The views of the city and seeing how large Santiago is was amazing. I wish we would have spent more time here but was worth it just for a couple hours.

This is a world class urban park enabling people to escape the traffic, noise, and city congestion to get a breath of fresh air and take some time in nature. We loved the funicular (the longest and steepest I’ve ridden in the world!), as well as the teleférico, and both make it possible to conserve your energy for hiking in the park itself. The Japanese Garden is lovely and the zoo is entertaining even if mobbed with screeching children.

I loved this park. There's lots of places to go meeting around. There you can find a the National Zoo, some pretty nice public pools, practice some sports like soccer, go with your pet, your kids, hike, bicycle, take pictures in beautiful places like the Japanese garden or have a very wide background of Santiago. The view of the city is amazing. It s easy to access to the top by walk, bicycle or car. You can also use the funicular which is a wagon on a rail to get to the next cable hanging car that will take you to a different part of the park. Many places to visit, many things to do. Well recommended.

Great overview from most of Santiago. Also a great trek.
You will find stunning views from Santiago, mainly near to sunset, besides the park itself.
Be sure to have a map with the main attractions both, to avoid be lost as well to use your time in your visit wisely.

Parquemet provides an accessible and quick escape from the rest of the city of Santiago. The park is part of San Cristobal Mountain, which includes a zoo, a funicular, many kilometers of hiking trails, and many other attractions. If the fog is not too intense, the spectacular views make the steep hiking worth the effort.

The best, coolest park in the city. Incredible views. Make sure to go up to the saint statue and also to get the cable car to near Costanera building. Cheaper and better than going to the building itself.

Signs in the park say this is the largest urban park in Latin America. I believe it, because it's massive! You could spend a day or two exploring the entire area. The park has so many trails, gardens, playgrounds and general amusements to keep you busy. Hiking all the way to the top for sunrise or sunset is magic. It'll take some time and effort but it's so worth it. Running or biking up will be your workout of the week. Bring lots of water and snacks because there's not much cover. Cars can't go up so plan for some effort!

Amazing park with modern buildings all around it and neighbour to some good malls (one very fancy one with high end brands and another more budget friendly one). It is connected to another park (a dog park) by a modern pedestrian bridge. It has very nice views to the snow capped Andes mountains and great sunsets. Perfect for a picnic with big lawns and shaded areas. It has good public restrooms too and a kids museum and eateries in the middle.

Saturdays at the park are so much fun. All the families go there from different parts of the city, to commute and relax while children play.
Great amount of games, stimulating both fine and gross motor skills. No weight limit, all games are safe for parents if they want to join in the fun. You can also bring your own picnic, and mantain all safety measures for actual pandemic. We did the normal wine tour here. Started with a welcome glass of white wine and then the tour carried on through the cellars giving us a history of the vineyard as well as three glasses of wine to taste. One white and two reds. The location and the wine were both fantastic. Our guide Isa was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English (which was great for us as our Spanish is awful). All in all it was a great experience and would recommend to anyone. Just a short trip on the metro gets you nearly to the front door of this place.

We landed in Santiago on a Saturday morning and this was our first stop! We reserved spots on the premium bike tour, and had a great time moving our body after a long overnight flight. The tour was only in Spanish (our Spanish is spotty), but we were able to keep up with most of what the tour guide shared about the property and history of the vineyard. We tasted different wines along the tour route and ended in a small tasting room with some snack pairings (at which point another tour guide, who spoke English, led us through the pairing). We also met a lovely Chilean couple who spoke some English, and they were very warm and gracious. Would recommend this vineyard!

It’s easily accessible from the main city of Santiago by bus and I’d recommend giving it a visit!!
The impressive Bahá'í temple and garden in Santiago is a modern architectural masterpiece that can be visited by the public. It offers visitors some of the city's most breathtaking views, but arriving at the entrance requires either a walk or a bus ride. The temple compound has several amenities such as parking lots for cars and bicycles, seating areas, water fountains, and bathrooms. Bringing food is recommended to enjoy in the sitting areas with scenic surroundings.
What a breathtaking place. Stunning building, peaceful and a center for reflection, meditation and prayer. I had the opportunity to visit in the evening recently and it certainly is a place to go when in South America!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this absolutely gorgeous place. I hopped on a train from downtown, followed by a quick 15-20 minute Uber ride from the nearest station. When I arrived, the setting was simply breathtaking – situated in the hills, surrounded by flowers and trees. It's a perfect retreat to unwind and relax. The building itself is a marvel, resembling a blooming rose, and stepping inside is even more enchanting, creating a truly peaceful experience. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to escape and enjoy some tranquility. Entrance is Free!

A must see in Santiago! This place has some of the best views of the city!! Once you reach the entrance, you can either walk up or wait for a bus. Walking is around 30-40min, some parts are pretty steep, and be sure to wear sunscreen if it is a sunny day. Once at the temple, there are parking spots for cars and bicycles, a water fountain, bathrooms and tables to seat and relax. It is a good idea to bring food and eat it in the sitting areas. The temple itself is unbelievable, the quality of the building and the materials is amazing, and the gardens and water mirror around it are also stunning.

We went to Templo Baha’i and it took at least half an hour by Uber to get there. The structure looks magnificent from the outside but the decoration on the inside is rather simple. We went there on a weekday so there was no crowd. Just a note that it is not easy to call an Uber at that location.
I think it would be best to take a tour to this place so that transportation is not a concern.
If you take an Uber, make sure they drive all the way up to the top rather than being dropped off at the gate.

What a cool, unique place to visit in Santiago! The Baha'i Temple is a ways outside of downtown Santiago but a easy Uber ride. Once you are there, you are treated with a truly amazing architectural experience. You also get to drive through some interesting neighborhoods of Santiago.
One thing to note is that cell service is not great in this region so be sure to schedule an Uber ahead of time or ask to use their Wifi. There is also a small visitor center (also with amazing design) where you can learn more about Baha'i spirituality.
I would note this as a must-see place on your trip to Santiago!

This is an incredibly beautifully designed temple that's at the end of a private road up in the hills, which serves as a fantastic lookout point to the entire city of Santiago. Please remember that you need to make an appointment to see the place - thankfully, there are almost always slots available for reservation and the website is pretty instantaneous in issuing you a ticket (which is free). I actually booked my ticket while I was in the cab on the way to the temple and I still got in 😂 But Just to be safe, do it the day before. There will usually be a member of the face present to explain the history behind the temple as well as a little bit about the Baha'i faith. They are all super nice about it (not preachy or weird cult-y so don't worry) and it's all very interesting to learn about. Worth a visit in my opinion. I took an Uber and I was lucky enough to get an Uber back as well because someone was just being dropped off when I was leaving - But otherwise I'm not really sure how easy it is to get public transport up to the place. It's fairly out there in the outskirts of the city.
Hotel Cumbres Lastarria is a modern and hip property in the heart of Santiagos foodie district. It features well sized air conditioned rooms, a fitness center and a wonderful outdoor pool. There are two restaurants onsite, one with amazing city views and the other with top floor pool access.
Excellent stay! Excellent service!! Great breakfast. Very comfortable. Great location! I really appreciated the service at this hotel. We had a late flight and they kept our luggage and even let us shower at the gym before our flight. They really went above and beyond. I'd highly recommend this place.

The hotel is very nice with big and spacious rooms. It’s in a trendy area with plenty of bars and restaurants around it that open till very late. The staff is very friendly and went out of their way to help me. It’s also walking distance from many local attractions. I will stay there again for sure, if I travel to Santiago again

This is a very nice small hotel in an idyllic neighborhood. The breakfast room has a beautiful view. The tiny pool is very pleasant. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. The only disadvantage is that the hotel is currently without a bar or lounge with service. However, the street is filled with bistros and wine bars. Highly recommended.

Good location, spacious rooms, big comfortable beds.
All in all, a comfortable stay in the heart of Lastarria, and it's everything you'd expect a 4 star hotel to have.
A few things to note: room lighting is a bit dim, even with all the lights on; there's no shower gel provided (was a dual purpose shower+shampoo); some of the shampoo and moisturizer pumps weren't working.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cumbres Lastarria. The hotel itself is incredibly well taken care of, modern, lots of amenities (rooftop pool, beautiful lounge, gym, etc), and the rooms have comfortable beds and are spacious. We were also very impressed with the hotel staff - the people at reception were very helpful and kind. Lastarria is a really hip neighborhood with a ton of bustling restaurants and shops and walking distance to Bellavista and a lot of the historic downtown buildings. I'd highly recommend this hotel!

Breakfast every morning was really great, and service as a whole was terrific. We really enjoyed the rooftop pool. Highly recommend!

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel while in Santiago. What I loved most about this hotel was the location. You can’t beat a hotel that is located near public transit and in the heart of a lively restaurant/eatery neighborhood. The arquitecture of the hotel is mixed with a colonial and modern vibe. There were plenty of multiple purposed spaces if you are on a work vacation or just need to relax. The room I stayed in was a single. The room had a comfortable bed, waterfall shower with a separate enclosed toilet. My stay was solo, so this worked great for me, but it might be difficult if you aren’t traveling as a couple or single.
I could tell that the hotel has been in use for while, given the wear and tear of the some a few items in the room and on the precises. This is to be expected with a hotel with a lot of traffic. All in all the hotel met my needs and I was very happy with my decision in booking it.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Cumbres! We stayed for over a week as we explored Santiago and visited my daughter who was studying abroad in the city. The room was clean and comfortable and was a wonderful rest place between adventures. Two highlights: the staff and the breakfast. From the first moment the staff were welcoming, helpful, and kind. They had great recommendations on must do activities and great places to eat. The breakfast was fabulous, with a great variety of coffee drinks, fresh fruit, baked goods, and amazing views of the city, not to mention the kindest staff (shoutout to Samuel!) Lastarria is a the perfect location and we would highly highly recommend Hotel Cumbres to anyone looking to explore the beauty of Santiago, Chile.

Very nice hotel, and very friendly service. bedding is excellent. just remember that in Chile in general, when you book a king bed room for 3 people they consider all three sleep in the king and you have to explicitly request a roll away bed. This hotel has been very accommodating and offered the extra bed for free. the location is great too, in the center of many excellent restaurants. we do not recommend the hotel's restaurant though where we had a below average experience on xmas eve (both service and food were below average)

Classy and sexiest Hotel in downtown Santiago. Located right in Lastarria's bohemian street, it becomes the perfect spot to continue the night. The rooms are perfectly decorated and the color palette, dark and elegant, summons our senses with ease and grace.
A must.

Beautiful hotel with great service and a perfect location with lots of restaurants on the block. Surprisingly, with all the street activity, the rooms are extremely quiet.

My husband and I and our 12 year old son got a room that was more like a suite- it had a large king size bed and they added a single bed for him, and there is a seating area and balcony that has a table and chairs. And from looking out it appears to be the only room with a balcony, at least on this side of the building. And it faces the Andes (behind buildings in the distance) which block the early morning sun. Breakfast was good (although the scrambled eggs are way undercooked- maybe a Chilean thing, but they are very liquid, but we discovered on day two that they will make omelettes to order. Nice views from the restaurant, and the hotel has a rooftop pool and gym. And is in a great location for walking everywhere, especially to great restaurants, and not far from the plaza de armas and right in the middle of the weekend street market.

We stayed in this hotel a couple of years ago during our visit to Chile. The location is great, in the middle of Lastarria, in close proximity to a lot of sightseeing and great eateries.
Pros:
- Rooms are spacious enough, and comfortable
- Good bed size
- Not noisy
- Clean
- Location is perfect for exploration
Cons:
- Service is a bit slow
- Breakfast options could be a bit better and fresher

The hotel needs to be better kept. Points that were not up to my expectations: AC noisy and stopped working in the middle of the second night. There is no minibar but 2 bottles of water. No room service. There was a piece of cheese in the middle of a corridor and took 1 day to be cleaned. TV remote had hard time working. bathroom has bo door, obly glass partition - no privacy. I would nit come again.

This is a good hotel. The staff are very helpful, rooms clean and the bed comfy. Plentiful breakfast. The resturant does lunch and dinner too. Location is good. Plenty of nearby resturants and bars. The bar on the ground floor no longer opens. A victim of COVID I think. That's a shame because the place is busy. I wouldn't buy any of the wine on display. The storage conditions are warm and the sun hits the bottles.

A great hotel in the heart of Lastarria. There are many restaurants easily accessible within a few meters. The hotel itself is very clean, the breakfast is good, and the staff hospitable.
Reason for 4-stars: Reception called us at 11 PM to remind of us of our complimentary wine. Im sure the intention was good but please DO NOT call guests that late at night. I could not sleep after being woken up at 11 PM, and it really made my day extremely tiring.

The General Cemetery is a large cemetery in the northern part of Santiago, Chile. It contains the graves of many well-known historical figures, including Evita Perón and other important political figures from Chile's past. The cemetery also offers tours for visitors who are interested in learning more about Chilean history.
Well worth a visit with incredibly interesting architecture & history, not to mention reminders of one's own mortality. Famous, infamous and forgotten figures share this enormous space. Easy to reach by metro, then meander through. Not to be missed are Salvador Allende's tomb or the wall commemorating those killed or "disappeared" during his successors' administration. Patio 29 was the previously secret mass grave used for unmarked burials during Pinochet's government.

This was every taphophile's paradise! Grand, so majestic as it is beautiful.. with interesting things and information (you can find the map once youre inside). The age, famous people buried, the architecture, the sculptures, tombs and sarcophagi, plus the walls, the avenues (avenidas), the crypts, the fences, the bricks, the drooping roots of big trees and climbing vines and gardens, added the color of the day will give you the most pleasing eerieness, a calming kind of tickles, you know, especially when you are just all by yourself... It was so wide and big that this necropolis had several streets and blocks. I had a limited stay in Santiago in early 2019 yet I was able to come here twice! I was lucky on the first day to see Los Diablos Rojos de V. Jara visiting the cemetery. (take note: taking photos of mausoleum with names are prohibited)
은Bugi Bulgogi — Google review
If you love history, this is a must see... beautiful yet unusual mausoleums, sarcophaguses, memorials to most every president of Chile, as well as the common folk... clean, safe, and beautiful. It is a little sad that the damage from past earthquakes has caused some damage and unless something is done, some of the more elaborate mausoleums may collapse in the near future. Although I did see it myself, I recommend you learn the story and find the gravesite of Victor Jara.
John Bankson - Express English — Google review
An interesting place for tourists to visit.
Alannah Wood — Google review
This huge cemetery contains the elaborate and ostentatious tombs of the great and wealthy but the memorial "motels" tell a more interesting story.
As well, there is the sad and sobering patio 29 where some of the 40,000 victims of the dictator August Pinochet (in power from 1973 to 1990) were buried.
We entered the cemetery at the entrance next to the administrative offices (corner of La Union and Av Professor Zanartu) where a guard gave us a Spanish language map to the cemetery.
The main entrance is opposite Av La Paz.
The map details the locations of the tombs of presidents and other Chilean notables as well as tombs of architectural distinction.
About halfway through the cemetery the leafy areas of "uptown" give way to the low rise motel-style mausoleums of the ordinary people.
Patio 29 is an unloved looking area of metal crosses that contrasts with the obvious care and attention lavished on the neighbouring motel graves.
While visiting, we saw a coffin on a hand-drawn cart followed by mourners and many people tending graves. Dogs roam happily but show little interest in humans.
There are more than 2 million bodies in the cemetery, most of which are in the above-ground multistorey buildings.
Well worth a visit.

This museum is a hidden gem of the city of Santiago. There are more than ten steam trains which take you to a different era. Our children of 13 and 11 years old, really enjoyed and so did I. There is a ticket to enter but it has been quite cheap, don't remember the exact price right now. All in all, highly recommended.
Konstantinos Karmiris — Google review
First rate place for anyone interested in these wonderful iron steam trains from the early 20th Century. Most railway museums are indoors, but this is all outdoors, a park within a park. Every engine us beautifully kept and I realises why, with very dry air and little rain, these engines don't rust. The other good thing about being outdoors, with loads of space between exhibits, it gives you plenty of room to take the photographs you want. All to often indoor museums don't allow you to get decent photos because the exhibits are too close together. Great Place, Loved it.
Miles Macdonald — Google review
Admission ticket is very cheap (less than €3) and they have real life trains to look and take pictures. Besides you’re allowed to get into three different trains or carts and you can even walk behind a train! Great experience for those who love trains, history and perfect fun for kids!

While roaming the streets of Barrio Lastarria we happened upon the very snazz-ii big spaced art gallery. It’s a multi-floored impressive-lii designed building lots of glass and open space. The modern art on displayed is fantastic even if you’re not an art fundii you are able to decide for yourself, many of the large pieces on displayed at the time of our visit was the five-panel work it could be hung together as one or as five pieces with some space in between. And again entree here is free of charge but they do have a collection box where the voluntary donations can be lodged and as they acknowledge that they real-lii appreciated any donation…….

Modern art isn't my favorite flavor but here were some really cool things that I appreciated and would recommend seeing in person if you get the chance. The bottom floor was a series of very abstract interpretation of vases that reminded me of the early days of using photoshop, going crazy with the blurry brush rotating objects to watch them twist and untwist...then there were 3 sculptures ranging from 3-6' that looked to be plaster that was then spray painted. I'll let someone else post the pictures of that art, maybe they appreciated then more.

I considered this place a little bit tiny for a museum since their exhibits were somewhat limited. It's a ver clean and spacious, though. However, I wasn't convinced by its dimensions. I went to see a concert there, and they started late and finished at a time that wasn't scheduled in the event promotion. That's why I'm giving this place 3 stars.
Ariel Belmont — Google review
I found the exhibition kind of dull and a bit small to be honest. But hey, it's only 1000 pesos and if you've got 15 minutes to kill - why not? But I wouldn't go out of your way just to visit the museum. It's ok if you happen to be in the area and just passing by.
Lisa Chan — Google review
As ever, I always find exhibits to entertain me in modern art museums and this didn't disappoint. The entrance fee is very cheap $1000 CP, and the exhibitions are a combination of video art, paintings and sculptures. One item that caught my eye was the grand piano on spiders legs!!! The exhibitions are on split levels, on the top level is a darkened room with more interesting video presentations.

We went to visit the museum and support local artists but after getting in we found out one of the exhibitions was a long crate with actual birds inside. So we decided to talk with the staff to understand why they are allowing this bizarre thing and they tried to justify saying those birds were born in captivity so they were better where they are. They also showed us a document saying that exhibition was “approved” by an ethical authority which is ridiculous. They make money using those poor birds and try to justify it by showing people a paper that says it’s ok!?
We requested our refund because we don’t support any activity that make profit from animal exploitation. I hope people know that and also don’t support them until they stop doing that. Also, hopefully they realise what they are doing and change their minds.
Constitution Plaza is a public square located in front of the presidential palace that features both paved and grass sections. It has significant historical importance as it was where a coup began several years ago, resulting in bullet holes on some of the statues. The plaza is popular among locals who enjoy spending time there during lunch breaks, often with their dogs running around. In addition to military parades and civic monuments, visitors can also admire various photography and art exhibitions inside the palace.
The changing of the guards ceremony (10am, every other day) was so fun to watch! The band played an excellent ABBA medley when we were there (but it sounds like they change up their repertoire pretty regularly). I recommend arriving 10-15 min early to get a good spot to watch, as the crowd gets pretty busy.

This is supposed to be the heart of the civic neighborhood in Santiago, but it became a heavily guarded square, oftentimes encircled by metal barriers. You cannot walk on the southern, which is inconvenient as hell. I wish they would make it fully accessible so it can regain its civic spirit.
During and after the pandemic it became a popular spot for walking dogs. Oftentimes you can see groups of puppies running and playing in the evenings. Walk carefully, there’s poo sometimes!

The National Museum of Fine Arts in Santiago, Chile is home to an extensive collection of Chilean and South American art dating back to the 19th century. It's also worth visiting for its beautiful architecture and array of temporary exhibits.
A good museum to learn about chilean culture
Carlos L?pez — Google review
The building itself is an amazing work of art, and its free to enter!
The first have is where the fine art is located, but unfortunately when I was there it was mostly being worked on.
The second half is filled full of contemporary art, which i do not care for. But there was an exhibit full of back pen drawings of a more eerie nature that was quite interesting.
I can imagine it will be great while there done working on it, but at the moment it is more of a modern art museum than a fine one.

It was a nice art museum with a peculiar composition of paintings. They have an installation in the main hall, which is some water flowing. Also there are impressive carved figures standing around.
It was very crowded on a weekday, so if you're looking for a quiet gallery to contemplate and appreciate art this is not the place to go.
I can now mention that I've been there, but it wasn't too enjoyable. The restrooms are a bit dirty too.
I mostly think it's a pity there are no English explanations. Many tourists visit Chile and they don't all understand Spanish on a level that high, thus can't get many information about the art.

OK to visit here if you have spare time and you are near by
It took me about an hour or so.

One of the best museums I’ve ever visited. It doesn’t only show you art, it clearly has a mission: explains why the piece is important, and shows you its social context. This is not an exhibition - it’s a perfectly curated experience. Thank you.
Tymoteusz Raffinetti — Google review
Beautiful structure inside and out, but the exhibitions when I visited seemed to all be related to Chile’s tumultuous political past. There’s no problem with that of course, but there wasn’t much of a counterbalance of other art that wasn’t political or that matched the beauty of the venue itself. It’s still worth a visit to admire the structure, and because admission is free.

Free entry. The museum is eclectic, but mainly covers post-1880 art. Descriptions are almost exclusively in Spanish.
In my opinion, the museum was not well curated. Waking from room to room I struggled to find a common theme. Art work seemed randomly placed, sometimes mashed together, sometimes with entirely empty walls. There is also some modern, abstract art and installations. It was unclear why this want in the modern art museum that the NMFA is attached to.
It's a fine way to spend an hour, but I wouldn't recommend it very highly. That said, the building itself is very pretty, with a huge, bright main hall.

A very nice building to see with some fine architecture, unfortunately vandals have ruined the walls with graffiti.
The collection is alright, but it could have been more. Many places were not filled with art or pieces. Nevertheless worth to take a look at.
No entrance fee.

You can enter after making a simple entry using the QR code at the entrance. The staff were very friendly and although it was not a very large museum, the paintings and works were very interesting and beautiful. Everywhere was kept clean, and each space was equipped with detailed explanations and chairs for viewing works. If you come to Santiago, I recommend this place because I think it is one of the places to visit. Even after watching, you can relax on the bench in front of the entrance, and if you have a group, it is a good place to have a conversation.

The collections are quite new and not so much varieties. Most of the art presented are in the 20th century. It is free of charge so you shouldn’t complain. The building itself is attractive though. Visitors are expected to put their backpack in the locker and you need 100 coin (which will be return when you get your bag back). Also you are asked to sign the visitor form.. they ask for your age not for which country you’re from which is odd for me. If you walk pass it, you should spend 1 hour stepping inside.

This is a free museum that has many works of arts. You'll find replicas of famous sculptures, portrait galleries, and even youth works. It's an okay museum but could be better with more works. It just felt a little empty. There are multiple levels including a basement. Restrooms are free, but be aware there is no toilet paper in the stalls - it's near the sinks. Backpacks aren't allowed inside and there are no English translations available for much of anything.

I checked out this museum while I was waiting on a walking tour to start. It is free to enter and has many different exhibits across two floors of the building. If you're in this area, I'd suggest checking it out to experience it for yourself. Based on my experience, you don't need any more than on hour to see it all.

Beautiful building with a full glass ceilings; with a few halls of various art displays. The entrance is free and the visit can be completed within 1-2 hours

This free of charge museum has in its main hall classical style sculptures while in the side chambers have exhibits of modern artists, mainly covering the effects of the dictatorship brutality, some in a more explicit way, others has an indirect result.
I would expect for a fine arts museum to display paintings and artworks from notorious Chilean artists, but that it's not the case.

The museum is great and free. They have a wide range of Chilean and International art. In the lower level you can find art about the history of Chile which is very very interesting. The building itself is beautiful and there is much to explore here. It’s a great place to escape the hot Chilean sun and learn something new.

Amazing! I loved this place. The vibe was awesome even though it was mostly quiet. I could tell that administration has a strong work ethic in terms of preservation of their arts collections, which is something nice. I loved their artwork collection from Europe and the US. They also have lots of artwork by Chilean artists coming from sculpture to portraiture.
The Museo Historico Nacional is situated in the Palacio de la Real Audiencia de Santiago, a 19th-century royal palace in Chile's Plaza de Armas. The building was constructed between 1804 and 1807 to house the royal courts of justice and currently displays extensive historical and cultural exhibits about Chile. Since 1982, it has been home to the National History Museum of Chile.
Telling a story that is not likely to satisfy everyone but informative someone who knows little about the country (like me). Well organized and with some well designed scale models.

The staff at this museum were so kind and helpful. Backpacks are not allowed in but there are free lockers outside for storage. The security guards were so nice to me and made sure I saw all the floors of the exhibit. They really serve as both guides and guards in a way. I was impressed! And it’s free.

Good Museum on the history of Chile covered some of the politics but not the most recent political upheavals. You need a 100 peso coin in order to lock up your backpacks backpacks are not allowed. You get the 100 piece of coin back at the end.

Moderate sized free museum about Chile's history. I can't say too much about the contents, since I don't speak much Spanish. Anyway, it featured interesting exhibitions about communism in Chile.
Anyway I think it's very unfortunate they don't have any English explanations available. As a European tourist I'm still interested in the country's history without having to run around with my phone for translations all the time.
Also make sure to bring a 100 Pesos coin for the lockers if you have a bag with you.

This is a rather miniature museum. For a national level museum, it has only about a dozen small rooms. The museum is located next to Plaza de Armas, its brown-yellow construction doesn't resemble the local style but rather that of the distant Iberian Peninsula.
Admission is free, much like many museums in Santiago, which reminded me of the UK. The tour guide at the entrance was very enthusiastic, but there were no English introductions within the entire venue, everything was in Spanish. Thankfully, I had Google's photo translation tool.
The history of Chile is indeed not long. Compared to the European countries I've visited, as well as China, my homeland with an ancient civilization, most of the exhibits start from the 16th century. The most comprehensive exhibits probably pertain to the 19th and 20th centuries. The main focus of the 19th century was independence, influenced by many European ideologies, such as the French Revolution and the American Independence Movement. The history of this period was largely marked by the use of firearms.
After the political situation stabilised somewhat in the 20th century, a significant amount of money was made from selling hydrochloric acid. The country thus stepped into the high-income bracket. The industrial port cities along the coast attracted many British businesspeople. Their homes were in Victorian style, while German immigrants headed south to farm and expand territories. Of course, the southward expansion of Chile inevitably led to many wars against local indigenous people.
Modern Chile, as an outstanding performer in Latin American economies, still experiences significant wealth disparity. But this seems to be a problem of the entire century. China also faces the same issue. Although the economy has taken off and the purchasing power of the wealthy has astounded the developed world, almost 30% of the Chinese population still resides in rural areas. Close to half of Chinese people earn less than 1000 Yuan a month.

Free museum of national History of Chile from Independence until the 1973 Junta and Pinchot. Mostly on second floor and all in Spanish. Well worth the stop to see artifacts, paintings and look up history. Doesn't take more than an hour and it's right on the Aramas Plaza.

This free of charge museum is composed of two separated areas, one is a revolution remembrance museum, and the other is located upstairs and it's the historical museum per se. In the later one, half of the exposed objects are notorious figures portraits, the other half it's a diverse range of items.
Of those, I would highlight, the soldiers on the right side of the battle painting, and the flag of Rapa Nui.
Video recording isn't permitted and some staff can overzealous.
